I slept in class, I had lunch in class, I skipped class and made a B. Everything was self taught through the book and online practice questions. I could've made a better grade if I had effort. Manley doesn't tolerate a lot, so focus, be quiet, or get out. He isn't scared to MAKE you leave before testing, so be respectful or get a zero on a test...
He's nice but not a good teacher. Also, he is VERY VERY unclear about due dates.
I really have enjoyed his class. He makes the economic points extremely clear and is available if you need help. I would take him again if I could. Would recommend to anyone.
Mr. Manley is a fun and engaging teacher. His lectures are often interesting and he does a great job of making the information relevant. He also shows lots of websites, articles, graphs, and videos to make his lectures engaging. His work is simple and he gives ample extra credit. He's passionate about economics so his class doesn't get boring.
He's really cool. Sometimes his class is a little biased, but that's okay. He's kind of conservative and as a liberal I feel I have learned a lot. He likes to tell corny jokes, which he laughs at, so everyone else laughs too because he laughs at himself. :) He shows a some videos during his lectures, which is nice.
The lectures don't match up to the tests. His jokes are corny, the material is all over the place and he's unorganized. The videos he shows in class are not even educational. I completely disliked this class. I would not take him again .
Really interesting lectures, professor Manley is very passionate about economics. Likes to show video clips and tries to be funny too. Test reviews are tough but he gives you a lot at chances. Nice guy overall.

Nice teacher, he tries to make the lectures more fun by showing videos in class. (Tests are tough but he offers extra credit) I just read the book and this class is not too tough
I personally liked Manley, he helped out during the homework's a lot. Gave extra credit, his tests were kind of hard. But nothing too unbearable!
He is very generous in making every effort for students to pass and gave a lot of retakes on test reviews. He shows some good videos. Tests are easy than reviews. I made an easy A. So if you do your homework, attend classes and ask questions if any, you should get A easily.
Prof Manley is a great teacher! Make sure you read the chapters and pay attention to the notes, and lectures. The blackboard reviews are harder than the test, so if you do good on that, you will be fine on the test. Pay attention to the webcom quizzes, because some questions will pop up on the test. Also he is so cute and he shows a lot of videos
He's not strict AT ALL. Seems like you're just talking to a friend who knows more about the topic than you. Makes sense? Some people found him boring but it depends on your classmates. Because my whole class would participate and joke around, I had real fun! He wants everyone to pass so he's always extending deadlines and gave so many attempts.
Prof. Manley is a funny guy who keeps the class awake by sharing funny videos or cracking jokes. He explains the subject in a way that is understandable. Most of the questions on exams can be found in the reviews or quizzes. I enjoyed taking this class because we also discussed many relevant topics going on today in politics and the economy.
I took an online class and would recommend him to any one because he responds to e-mails quickly and is always on top of what's going on. He is clear about what he expects and is an easy grader, he's funny (the test reviews are hilarious LOL) he allows you to work ahead in the course too! I would take him again anytime! He's awesome!!
Wasn't too interested in this class but he made the class so much fun. Shows plenty of videos and presents the subject in a way that everyone can understand. Quizzes are tricky but he gives several chances. Funny and very nice guy also!

The test reviews are a toughie but he allows 5 tries for each. The class is easy and the best part is that he allows you to finish the class asap. He's the greatest professor in the whole wide world! I would definitely take him away, I rarely like people but he's just a genuinely good person and I respect that. I recommend him for sure :))
This guy is hilarious. Would take again.
Lots of work but he has a clear grading criteria. Do the work and you'll pass. it literally took me 48 hours to do a lot of his work because I procrastinated. He's a good professor. I would take him again.
Took him for Econ 2301 and Econ 2302. Both completely online. Made an A in the first class but because I slacked off in the second class I made a B. He has lots of homework but they're direct. He has a very clear grading criteria, gives lots of curves at the end of the semester so no surprises at the end. I would recommend him.
Funny, nice, and shows lots of videos! School vise, he has quizzes and test reviews. The reviews are a bit tough but you get 5 tries! He is very lenient with grades. Overall, a good teacher, he does not check attendance, but maybe he does a head count? Not quite sure. You need to be in class to do good on the test reviews and tests!
Professor Manley is a great teacher and he explain things very clearly and is always willing to help out the student. If you take notes and pay attention during the lecture you should make easily make an A. Has test reviews that really help on the test.
He's freaking amazing
Awesome professor! Teaches a class how it should be taught, great learning experience, and as long as you due you pass your reviews you will do good on the exams. Making a high a so far and very close to the semester being over.
Manley's class is an easy A. His exam reviews (which are mandatory grades) are a drag but he gives you unlimited time and 5 tries to do them so studying isn't necessary.
Very nice instructor. Funny one. Interesting lectures. Tests are tough that require you have to study hard but he helps us by test reviews and explanation in-class. Should take him!!
Professor Manley is great! I would recommend everyone taking him. I got an A in 2301 with him and currently taking 2302 and probably end up with a B. All I can say is that economic is not an easy subject for me to grasp.
Great Professor. Willing to speak his mind and apply concepts to the real world. Great Lectures. Pay attention to the reviews and you will Ace the Tests. Would highly recommend. Really awesome down to earth guy! To bad I cant take him for more courses. Econ is a hard subject but he eases the worries.
I took him in class and online, and I would suggest you take him online. It's the same coursework. The only negative thing I would say about him is that he makes it so obvious he's a right wing.
The overall workload is not hard at all. However, he doesn't change the due dates on assignments to the correct date and then it automatically gives you a zero. Like I said, easy A but you have to watch that you are getting the grade you are supposed to receive.
Tries to be funny and isn't. Controversial at best. Some people like him, but eh. Not too problematic, easy easy easy. Test is near identical to review. Shows a lot of videos. Class was a breeze, mostly.
He's really cool. He enjoys cracking corny jokes and is not uptight at all. One of the gems of this class is that he goes over the material in the book for every chapter. His reviews are based off what he says in the class. And the test is basically the review with a few changes to some of the questions, so make sure you read them.
you'll get an A if you take notes of the big ideas of the book and take the test review (5 attempts and he takes the best score) don't need to show up in class
I took the online course and it was straight forward. You mainly just need to read the book. There are quizzes for each lesson and a test for each unit. There is no limit on the times you can take the quizzes and the test reviews can be taken up to 5 times.
He is a funny guy. The tests were rather difficult, but the workload was low and he doesn't care at all about attendance. Every once in a while, he wakes up on the wrong side of the bed and is a bit crabby.
Manley is a pretty great professor. Teaches from the book, along with plenty of videos, and he demonstrates a lot of ideas on the board. The test review is a grade and you get five attempts, then the exam is pretty much the same thing. You will ace this class as long as you memorize the review for the exams. Took him for 2301 and 2302, aced both.
SO FUNNY lots of puns! Makes Econ easy to understand. Wants you to actually put in work but it's not hard. Lots of easy extra credit on tests. He makes Macroeconomics a really interesting class.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!Enjoyed his class! It's laid back, he says a lot funny puns and shows a lot of you tube videos as examples. He's truly passionate and caring for the subject and students! Gives his own notes for each chapter. his pet peeve: people on their phones. Easy pass, if you read the chapters and and listen to his lectures.
I took his class online and the instructions were all clear and straight forward. Assignments were due every few weeks. Not a bad thing but something to keep in mind is that he will not constantly remind you of due dates and give you updates. Make sure to be a big boy/girl, read the syllabus, keep up with the due dates and accomplish them.
Class can be finished in one week. Easy A
he is not a bad professor, however he goes off subject so many times and its very hard to learn from him. he calls people out in class in front of everyone and some students are not happy with that. his teaching is different then the book. as he says (its the easy way.) would not take him in class, i would rather have his class online.....
Read the chapters, pay attention in class and do the assignments. Do what's expected and you WILL pass and probably with a high grade. He's a very easy grader and the grades he puts in at the end of the semester help a lot. He genuinely wants you to succeed in his class and if you study well, I guarantee you'll do good on tests.
Read the book and do your chapters. Test are almost identical to the reviews given. Very funny and passionate professor. Does not like being asked for extra credit (which you wont need) and hates people being on their phones. Overall great class very memorable!
Very nice and funny Professor. I sat in the front and he LOVED to use me for examples so if youre not into that dont sit in the front. Tests werent too bad- study blackboard reviews and make a quizlet. Attendance wasnt mandatory for college students but yes for RCHS. Would def take again. Made a very boring class very fun!
Amazing Professor, amazing teaching skills. Funny guy, nice humor, makes learning interesting. Straight forward. Test and assignments are easy.
Highly recommended, he keeps class interesting by playing videos in class. He tells a lot of cringy jokes and gets off topic some times. The quizzes for each chapter are very easy. The reviews are so similar to the exams. Just come to class and pay attention, easy A. Make sure to sit near to where the computer is to get the best notes.
Highly recommended, he keeps class interesting by playing videos in class. The quizzes for each chapter are very easy. The reviews are so similar to the exams. Just come to class and pay attention, easy A. Make sure to sit near to where the computer is to get the best notes. Took him for both econ 2301 and 2302.
I took the class online and it is pretty interesting. The quizese are easy and at the end he cut the worst grade out of your overall. The books also help me a lot.
I took his 3 week econ summer class & his syllabus was straightforward on what to complete! Great class & highly recommend!
I do like to take macro economy with Prof Manley. He showed everything on real examples and how economy works. It is not just pure theory! I changed my mind on many things.
Steven Manley is the single worst instructor I have ever had. I am counting kindergarten through graduation from university. He makes tasteless, unfunny jokes, and that is annoying. But what's worse is he doesn't understand what socialism is, very constantly insults it. We have a mixed economy, Steven! Deal with it! Get off your soap box.
Best instructor I've had at Richland! Good class, learned a ton. His test reviews are kind of tough but they actually help on the exams. Learned more in this class than expected. GReat teacher, shows lots of videos to make it understandable. Take this class!
Just took in summer 1, good class. You should def buy the book and read it. He gives tests that are just like his reviews, but 3 attempts on all of the review assignments. Funny professor, makes the class super fun overall. Pay attention to the things he says because he likes to put those in his extra credit questions on the tests
Read the chapters and do the quizzes. Not easy but not hard either. You really have to work to fail this class. Liked him a lot, he's super nice guy and easy going
Just took his class this past semester. Typically I am a 4.0 student but class itself was challenging for me. He was a great professor and taught everything needed on the test. Econ was just a hard subject to understand for me! There was 12 online quizzes (use quizlet) and 4 test, and a final!
Mr. Manley's an absolutely wonderful professor. His easy-going personality made our government class intriguing and fun, and I couldn't have asked for a better person to teach it. He's understanding and often lenient, but not a push-over. He grades fairly and leaves a little bit of room for extra credit. Best professor I've had in a while.
You're graded on quizzes, exams, reviews and two papers. I believe we were given three chances per review to get a higher grade and they were a good help for the exams. Papers were a little harder for me to do, had to do a little research outside of class. Overall clear syllabus just make sure to read and stay on schedule.
Most of class is just listening to him lecture which can sometimes be a little boring but the way he explains things and is actually passionate for what he does makes the class interesting. I learned so much about the real world in his class. Most grades come from at home quizzes but its definitely worth It to show up to class and hear his lecture
I took Professor Manley for BUSN 2305, but it was not available as choice here. He is a hands off teacher and works with disability accommodations. The deadlines are clear and grading is direct. Great online course for those that can teach themselves with the online book.
I took his microeconomics course online and it was an easy class dont get me wrong. BUT, even thought I did all the webcom assignments, I didnt realize that there were assignments to be done on ecampus. It was an honest mistake and I sent numerous emails to try and explain myself that it was an honest mistake, and all i got was a pity sorrow reply.
This class became all on-line after Covid-19, but professor Manley's lectures were great. His test reviews are not easy but at least he gives 3 attempts for each one. Only writing assignments were essays which weren't too bad. Great class, I'd definitely recommend!
Good online class, fair amount of work, clear list of assignments and due dates. Would love to take Econ 2301 with him online.
Not too easy but not overly tough class. He gives you reviews which really help on tests and he's enthusiastic about econ for sure!
If your looking to get an easy A take Professor Manley, you will have 4 test reviews, 12 quizzes, 4 unit exams, final exam and 2 writing assignments. The writing assignments are easy depends on which 2 you choose from, theres no particular way to write the papers you just basically, have to answer the questions. Loved his class.
Would've preferred to have taken in person but great class. Makes it easy to know expectations and fair grading plus the subject is interesting.
Loved this class. Very clear instructions and logically laid out. He gives multiple chances in the Blackboard assignments and takes the best grade and drops the lowest exam grade.
Loved this class. all of the questions on the quizzes and test reviews will be on the exam. So it's very good for practice especially since you can take the quizzes up to 3 times.
Professor Manley responds very quick to email. He also drops lowest homework and test grades, which are not timed. I will take him again for microeconomics!
Easy A if you read and do well on the reviews. The reviews are tough but fair and he gives more than 1 attempt for each.
I took ECON2301 online during the summer term. The work was pretty straightforward, 12 textbook chapters + quizzes, 4 tests + reviews, 2 writing assignments, 1 final + review. Beware that you will have to buy his $9 amazon ebook that is basically 150 pages of his own opinions on economic issues because a lot of the test questions come from that.
Online class just finished. He answers emails very fast, has clear syllabus and due dates so you can go at your own pace. Great class!
Great class. he gives more than one attempt on each quiz and review. The reviews are tough but the tests are easier. He also drops the lowest grades. I'll take the 2301 class with him too.
Dr. Manley is good at instructing the class, but he's eccentric to put it politely. He often inserts his own views into the lectures, which can be confusing in an academic setting. He also wore mesh masks and didn't cover his nose for a large portion of the semester. His course is easy enough to pass as long as you can get past his personality.
He is a fair professor and I had a laugh whenever I saw his name in the assignment questions
Was my favorite class this time ard around He is passionate about economics and knows his stuff and gives reasonable amount of assignments
Surprised this was one of my favorite classes so far at Richland. Not too hard but not too easy either, great course!
I took Professor Manley's Microeconomics class in the early spring and discovered his teaching style was suitable for me. Everything was clear and concise. And he made a complicated subject for me seem more manageable. He always answered my emails within 24 hours and was willing to help students struggling in certain areas. Take his class.
He was good, also funny. He drops your lowest quiz, test, review grades in the end of the semester so that really helped a lot.
Professor Manely is very knowledgeable and I enjoyed his course. He provided a lot of outside material to assist with the online course. He provided links to YouTube clips to help with learning. I do not enjoy online learning as much as Q&A is not readily available but Prof Manely responds to emails within 24 hours.
Steven Manley was a good teacher for Economics! It was a self-paced and autonomous course but of course he was there if you needed him. Great teacher, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Professor Manley is great. You will need to purchase his book for the tests and write 2 papers, however he drops the lowest test grades. I advise to read the syllabus and keep up with the important dates.
I love this guy, his dad jokes are funny and he always make my day, but he's so indirect, fast, and messy that taking his class will only lead you to countless all-nighters. I often have to learn the concepts in my own time as a majority of what he interprets is dang near incomprehensible. I sit in the front, attend every session, & leave with nada
Professor Manley is great. You will need to purchase his book for the tests and write 2 papers, however he drops the lowest test grades. I advise to read the syllabus and keep up with the important dates. I would take his class again! Excellent Professor! 100% recommend!
Dr. Manley is the perfect professor for economics at Dallas College! I took him in fall 2024 and spring 2025! This is an online class, and Dr. Manley will try his best to answer your questions. This class is an easy A if you complete the work!
Professor Manley made learning Econ surprisingly fun; he's great at adding humor to his assignments, and you can tell he truly cares about his students! Additionally, I completed two writing assignments and received detailed feedback, which was super helpful. Just make sure you do your work, and you're sure to get an A+!!
