He works hard so you do not need to. You will learn a lot though. Very good at responding to emails, questions in class and questions outside of class.

Hard-working professor and wants everyone to succeed. Provides all the material/info. that you'll ever need through powerpoints, including any type of help that you need. Gives study guides for exams a week or two beforehand and it is very helpful. No essays, only case briefs (really easy) and also extra credit. Would take again if I had to.

At first I was reluctant to take this class but throughout the semester Professor McCarty was trying his best to teach us so I felt that it was natural to respond in kind and put forth my best effort as well. Would definitely take his other Business Law classes if I ever have room in my schedule again. He's definitely one of my favorite professors.

Clearly an expert on real estate and very accessible over email and private messaging. The course is a challenge because it requires a lot of time to complete all the assignments, but the grading criteria is clear and you can do really well if you put the time into it. If you want to know real estate law really well, this is the course for you!

Entertaining class, at least for what can sometimes be a dull topic. Did better on exam than I thought. The review and study guide are very helpful.

Wow! He provides a lot of videos and overviews to help make sense of the law. The videos and much of the other resources are mostly optional but they are there when you need them. Almost done with the course and felt like I learned a lot. He is very responsive to messages and nice and understanding. Extra credit is possible. Highly recommend.

Great class and professor!!! Nice guy that is smart and very educated and experienced but down to earth and approachable. I learned a lot through examples and weekly quizzes that can be retaken up to 3 times and Kahoot! Class was mostly fun learning even though the law is really challenging. Extra credit is available.

By far the most rewarding class I've taken in college. The subject matter was good but the professor is amazing and makes it come to life through continuous involvement, great videos, engaging discussions, good feedback, putting together multiple resources on his own, and rewarding quizzes and project with clear instruction. More people would learn and enjoy school if professors were always this approachable and caring. This course was enjoyable throughout the entire semester. He's a great professor! He knows a lot about the subject and gives great feedback on assignments. His quizzes and tests aren't very hard, and his lectures cover exactly what you need to know. Only real downside is that he can get behind on grading, but you can't blame him because he is a very busy man.

Excellent class. Enrolled for more courses taught by McCarty this summer. The online format is very organized, and he sends out reminders so you always know what you need to do. His grading of written work takes a while because he actually reads it all and gives feedback when helpful. He is very quick to respond to emails and private messages.

This teacher really gives it his all . He gives constant encouragement to the class,thoroughly reads all of your work and gives positive feedback and critical feedback when needed. You will need to do plenty of reading and research to get a good grade in his class, but it all worth it; you will learn a lot. He give's letter's of recommendation.

It would be hard to find a better online course than this. Very caring professor who answers messages quicker than most. Plenty of optional videos to help learn the subject but it is nice that they are optional rather than required because there are a lot of them. There is a great discussion board every week that makes it feel like a classroom.

I took BUS 19 as an online course. He gave us one 10-20 question quiz and one discussion post every week. He provided us with study guides for exams. Preferable to have a basic understanding of legal system, if not, there's just more to learn! He is slow on grading. The only class I took that was truly challenging. Overall, a great professor.

The course is really hard but professor explains it in clear terms that makes it understandable. He presents hypotheticals in class that are also on tests. Always there to help students and engage everyone in class activities. Great professor!

reading helps but he gives you summarization of the chapter in module which mostly covers all chapter objectives (if it doesnt i just skim the book to find the answer to the part).quizzes are mostly true/false (with a generous 3 attempts. BIG PROJECT but gives you plenty of time.

This is an amazing class that can't really be described in a short review. The professor brings in so many amazing people from the legal field, provides great resources to teach about the different areas of legal specialty, develops legal research skills, & even gave free pizzas. Getting a good grade is very doable if attending and doing the work.

This is such an organized online class that I will take more with this professor. Once you get used to posting discussions and completing an untimed & retakeable quiz each week, and using the study guides to prepare for exams, then you will do well. It takes work, but it is worth it.I actually think law is something I will pursue in the future now.

Amazing class. The professor's lectures are informative and passionate, especially for a topic that could be very dry. It shows that he loves what he is doing, which makes others love law as well. Definitely has a unique teaching style with a mix of methods that I highly recommend.

I have taken several law courses with Professor McCarty, and he is a great professor, caring and fair. I think BUS 43 is the most difficult course he teaches, but he makes earning an A possible with hard work in the course. This was the only course that used a $50 online website other than Canvas, but it was high quality and helped me learn more.

Very responsive every time I emailed and he helped me understand the material when I struggled. While the class was difficult, he worked with me and provides a lot of resources to help with learning. The study guide is worth going through to do well on the exams, and he provided a curve to help with grades! I would not have passed without it.

Great professor. I took summer Bus 8 Intro to Law online bc it was required. I'm not into law at all, but his class was super straightforward. As long as u do all the work, ur good. In the summer, there are 2-3 chapters a week. 150-300 word discussion post and 3 attempts quiz per chapter. There is a 2 page case-brief research project. great class.

super involved professor. can tell he really cares about students learning. provides power points and videos to help u understand the chapters. as long as u stay on top of it and do the work, u can easily get an A. For final and midterm, highly recommend utilizing the study guide he provides with topic list. also textbook index is helpful too.

Surprisingly my favorite class so far. Learned a lot about law that is actually helpful to know and had me researching more just because it was interesting. You can tell that the professor loves law and wants to share knowledge in funny way. Not overwhelming work even though the law can be intimidating. There are a lot of resources to delve into.

The best professor. If you are interested in starting your own business or if you already have one, then this class is for you. This professor has a lot of discussion boards online that are useful for learning with others if you like interacting with others even in an online course. So long as you do the work, he is a fair grader.

Professor sends a lot of emails and there is a lot in the syllabus- more information than any other professor! The benefit? You know EXACTLY what you are supposed to do. During the first class period, he gives you a background of his life. He was a teenage father and decided that he wanted to pursue his education. Ended up getting a full scholarship to Oxford and a law degree from Berekely. Commutes all the way to Stockton to teach community college because he believes that education can change lives. THE BEST!

Test are major which are always multiple choice and you have 3 chances. Only 1 written paper and its NOT hard, the teacher is not a strict grader. COMMUNICATION IS AWESOME

I took this as a 4 week course over summer. We had to read 3-4 chapters a week, take a quiz for each chapter (3 attempts,) and do a discussion for each chapter. He grades really easy as long as you follow instructions. There was a midterm and a final, both multiple choice and t/f. We had to write one paper (2 pgs). Easy A as long as you read.

weekly assignments, nothing out of the ordinary though. gives multiple tries on the weekly quizzes, so you can retake the quiz and try to better your score. all the other assignments are pretty straightforward; you'll definitely need your book & to do some reading though. it'll help you out A LOT.

He has all your work all displayed in the modules. Its pretty easy to get A's in this class. Do your work, Read, and pass your quizzes. He gives nots, lectures, and extra videos pertaining to the reading material. He's gives us a lot of feedback and is really quick to respond to your emails. I am taking a second class that he is instructing.

Prof. McCarty is really one of the best professors at Delta College. Very knowledgeable in what he does and teaches. He is also very clear in the syllabus and makes sure you understand what he is teaching. This is the second time I took one of his classes and would honestly take more if I was a law major. Taking bus 8 with bus 18a was a good idea since they cover a lot of the same material. Understand the law a lot better from slightly different points of view between the two. The reviews are right. Great professor and courses that are easy to navigate and do well in if you read carefully, follow instructions & think things through. Very fair.

This was a great intro to law and so many practice areas to think about. The course is simple to get around on and has a lot of helpful resources. Never needed to contact the professor because he gave detailed instructions and announcements and everything was clear enough to do well.

Took in the 6-week format. 3 chapters read per week w/ quiz + discussion board for each chapter. Very manageable and clear grading instructions. You can retake quizzes to gain full points, easy as long as you read. Study guides cover what are actually on the exams. The content is interesting and you learn a lot. I really liked this class!

Not a difficult grader. As long as you try, you will get credit. Lots of reading. Learn how to study first before you take this class. There is an overabundance of reading and videos but if you figure out how to tackle them, you will survive. He gives great feedback and his responses are usually to help you understand.

This is a doable way to complete a course in 4 weeks. Its a organized class. There are many reminders and tips and resources to help. The professor is very caring and helped with everything when needed and did not require meetings but met when asked. He is very quick at answering emails and helpful with everything that came up in the semester.

There's a ton of reading, especially if taking the late start term, but quizzes are easy, multiple chances. Mid-term and Final aren't too hard, can use notes and such. Gives lots of info/help and advice at the beginning of the week for upcoming and current assignments. Such a sweet professor, you can tell he wants his students to succeed!

I took his late-start class for the Fall. It was very easy and quick-paced, with only 2 quiz-based exams and 1 brief case paper assignment (2 pages max). The 15 or so discussions were nothing hard, as you'll have no trouble if you read through the textbook while taking some short notes. I would definitely take his classes again!

This course is fairly challenging. It requires a lot of critical thinking and study to excel. The professor though is amazing and provides an absolute ton of resources for the student to be successful. I personally found it easier to take my own notes on the textbook rather than use his summaries/slides. Overall amazing professor and super thorough

I took this law class over the span of 5 weeks and I was so worried that it would be unmanageable. But professor McCarty is a very generous grader! As long as you finish the discussions with a decent amount of knowledge you will get 100%'s. Tests are heavy but he gives a TON of resources outside of just the textbook. This was a very fun class!

I took him during the summer, so the class was accelerated, but he was an amazing professor. Had a clear grading criteria. There were discussions and quizzes weekly. The quizzes were easy as long as you did the assigned readings.
