He was awesome!!! Hysterical, witty, undrstanding, and very very helpful! My fav professor so far! I actually looked forward to evry meeting!
Though provoking style of teaching - isn't rigid, 'my way or the highway' kind of teacher. Encourages questions about the material and is willing to go beyond the textbook. Wants the student to succeed - and expects the student to do the work necessary to succeed.
I highly recommend Mr. Meigs. He knows his subject, is very helpful and always responds to emails sent. He is organized and prepared to lecture.REL-2300-62373
Made learning religion interesting. Was very helpful in fully explaining questions and was good at telling jokes (most of the time)
I really enjoyed Professor Meigs' class. He keeps you interested in the material with his contagious energy.
Very engaging and insightful. Makes the course interesting w/ little known facts and tidbits.
I came to this class for a diversity class and to learn how religions started, and I was engaged the whole time. I plan on further researching some religions further through books that were mentioned in class.
Very refreshing to have such a great professor. I can't wait to take another class.
Excellent instructor. Very knowledgeable on the subject. He is very willing to go out of his way to help students. He uses humor and anecdotes in a brilliant way that really brings an otherwise dry subject to life and makes it easy to comprehend. I have learned so much in this class and am very glad I decided to take it.
You must work to achieve an A in this class. Reading book a must, but easy reading. Quizzes are great practice for tests and usually there are many repeat questions. Study guide tells you which essays to prepare for and he chooses them on the day of the exam. He starts off giving you concepts, then you must figure them out yourself. Funny guy!
This was an excellent professor. In the begining I was completely lost when it came to other Religions, but I feel this Professor shared some of his great knowlege. I would recommend this class to anyone interested in learning about other Religions. He gives great insight on the subject.
This is a top notch professor. Always willing to go the extra mile for you and redaly avaliable. I was always interested in Religion and since M. Meiggs my appreciation for it is better. I recommend this professor to any one wanting a course that develops interest and insight. It has been an honor to be-friend this man
Great teacher. Very intense, especially for a late night class. Sometimes you feel your brain is going to explode because he has so much information that he wants you to have. But push through, eventually it all clicks. He is very helpful and humourous. Doesn't preach one religion over another. Awesome class if you are willing to work for it!
Professor Meigs is an excellent instructor. You have to study, read the material, and take good notes. He gives your everything you need to succeed in this class. Test reviews and essay topics given ahead of time. I truly learned a great deal and thouroughly enjoyed being in his presence. Highly recommend the instructor. AWT
Mr. Meigs is a SPECTACULAR professor. He provides all the resources needed to make an A in the class, but leaves it up to you to decide how well you want to do. Overall, an AMAZING teacher. I highly recommend taking REL 2300 with Meigs if you want to walk away with something great. (Plus, he gives thorough test reviews)
Great instructor.. if you realy want to know and understand the religions of the world.. this is a great professor to take.. exams are very fair all based on lecture and keeps you well informative about what you need to know in text. I had a awesome time in this class.. very professional and a great teacher..
I actually took his class at USF but he was by far my favorite teacher there. He is really funny and very easy to understand while he teaches. He really cares about his students too. not too mention he is hilarious and quirky
Mr. Meigs is a very fair teacher. You MUST attend the classes for best benefit. He is passionate about what he teaches and truly seems to want you to understand. He is always willing to stay after class for more help. Power point is awesome, with notes online.Personal info of trips to Holy Land was an added benefit.Don't be afraid to take this class
I actually liked this class. There are 3 tests and a bunch of quizzes which are helpful and there are no big essay papers! He knows his stuff.
The class is hard only if you are not doing your part. Mr. Meigs makes every opportunity for you to make a good grade in his class. Always helpful, willing to stay after and help. Awesome teacher!! I wish he taught more classes I would take every one.
AMAZING teacher! very clear on everything and very funny. an amazing teacher overall. he practically gives u everything u need for the test. study his quizzes and the essay questions and ull do good on the tests. hes probably one of the best professors ive had thus far and has definatly impacted my life. great job meigs!
Fascinating Teacher. Hes straight to the point and challenges students to think outside the box. He practically gives you the answers for the multiple choice on the test through the quizzes.
1)Awesome teacher; keeps it real; very clear w/his expectations 2)Interesting material, even for those of us who are not religious 3) Each exam is mult choice + write 2 essays; topics are given ahead of time. Easy "A"? No, it does require effort. A lot of info. Attend all lectures, study the quizzes and prewrite your essays & you should do fine.
Professor Meigs is, without a doubt, one of the best professors I have ever had. I have been at HCC for 2 years and never have had a teacher so passionate about his subject. I learned so much and gained so much perspective. Take this class for sure. You must do your part to get an A, but it is definitely possible. The quizzes help tremendously!
great teacher, makes class interesting. make sure to study the notes and quiz, they are helpful.
Amazing Professor! He makes learning about religion fun! He keeps u interested by making corny jokes. about the topics. He really knows his stuff n really wants you to learn. He has a strict attendance policy but I never had a prob b/c I really enjoyed going. I learned so much I can take with me through life. Won't let u know his religion.
He is such a great professor! His dedication and love for religion truly makes the class much more fun and fascinating. The class quizzes really help when you take the tests. The tests consist of multiple choice and 2 essay questions. I really enjoyed this class and would highly recommend.
Very interesting class, learned alot of good facts not only about my own religion but the religion of others. Good quizes and test, but dont ask questions in class. He will talk around the question or will go off on another tangent. Profressor Meigs is really personable and a free sprit.
I have never learned as much in a class as I did with Professor Meigs. He is very open-minded and passionate, which pulls you into his lectures. If you have no prior knowledge of the subject, you do have to study hard. But his tests are composed of the questions off the quizzes (which he he goes over thoroughly). Highly recommended!
i didnt choose this teacher but i was stuck with him. at first it was hell and the first test was horrible but after i got used to him it was great.. he's helpful so dont be scared to ask and he can be really nice about grades just ask.. just dont talk when he does, u wont like him!overall take him if u really want to learn some interesting stuff
Professor Meigs is one of the best professors i have had. He is a very passionate teacher. I took him for world religions and he is so passionate about everything you would never be able to tell what faith he follows and he wont tell you. He gives test everyday but dont let that scare you they help alot! just listen in class and you will do fine.
Professor Meigs is great! Make sure you are on time, take notes, and read the book and you will do fine. Daily quizzes that will help you when it comes to the tests. Professor Meigs has a passion for the subject and it shows in his lectures! Would also gladly take him for a different course if offered.
Excellent Teacher. If you do your due diligence and keep up with the work it is an easy A.
Excellent Professor!Very passionate about World Religions. Explains interpretations and differences of opinions very well. And was available after class every day for any questions. A fare amount of reading and studying if you want to make an "A". But well worth it!! What I learned in this class was incredible!!
Great professor, and very passionate about his subject. Nice guy all around. Do what he asks, study a bit, and you'll do fine.
RECENT REVIEW: this guy refuses to repeat himself, he yells about miscommunication, he teaches the subject as if everyone has taken 5 religion classes prior to this, and he gives quizzes often which kill your grade. He's not like other professors and helps you pass the class by being a little more direct, he more like goes around in circles.. Mean!
I dont know what the previous poster means, the profesor is more than willing to answer questions and really seems to care about his students. I think the class is fun and he make it easy to understand.
He gives short quizzes almost every other day so you have to know the material taught in the previous lecture as well as assigned reading material...The tests are very straight forward if you know the material well enough to study it thoroughly... He tries to help students do their best in this course but is very strict on cheating, etc.
This guy knows his stuff. You will leave every class feeling enlightened. Has short quizzes to make sure you're learning. Tests are basically the quizzes. I passed with an A. He's really into what he teaches which is good. Just don't try & argue with him because he will put you on the spot in class! Oh and he has Justin Bieber hair.
This teacher is so bad. he thinks you know alot about religion when it is a INTRO class. he leactures from begining to end and his horrible LAME jokes.i die each day i go into his classroom DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!
he acts like a drama queen, always complain, reviewing the syllabus, and goes on tantrums the first 10min of class half the time! he gives mini quizzes that covers a lot of info and they dont necessarily help for the exam - the study guide does more. sort of cocky, flips his hair every 5 sec. ive had way nicer and helpful instructors than him. run.
I thoroughly enjoyed this class! Although it is basically a history class it was presented in a fun and memorable way. Very knowledgeable and energetic teacher. I love that he puts his notes online so you can just add to them instead of having to write it all down.
Great thought provoking teacher. He is very entertaining and speaks with clarity. Easy A if you study the quizzes and show up to class. For the haters talking about his tantrums, they only happen when appropriate. Also he has great locks think a blond Bieber.
Everyone should be required to take this class! Very interesting. Mr. Meigs is very animated which was a good thing b/c class was from 7p to 9:45p. Easy A if you study and go to class. He practically tells you all the questions that will be on the test. Quizzes every class meeting help with the midterm and final. TAKE HIM! Very interesting class.
He rambles and it's bad. So bad that he spends a large portion of the class talking about other topics besides religion. To much reading, he never uses it. essays are easy and so are the finals bc all they are the in class test you take. if you are truely trying to learn about religion this is the wrong guy to take.
He is challenging to the point of being annoying if your lazy and dont really want to get deep into it. If you want to learn and grow and dont just want a slacker course you will love it. Also you have to write 2 easy essays. He is merciful about grading at the end and rolls you up.
Great teacher! This guy knows his stuff and presents all information on all religions without any obvious bias. I learned a lot in this class and appreciated the fact that the exams were not extremely difficult but ensured you knew the material. The quizzes were very helpful. Great sense of humor and teaching style. Definitely recommend this prof!
He is the best very easy :) go to class levae when its finished quizzes are very helpful so study for them he is very imformative!!! TAKE HIM!!
Amazing professor with an abundant amount of knowledge. Definitly would pay to attend any of his classes with or without getting a credit! Was not boring or monotone but enhance the class with logic and thought process to help us understand. Best prof. Thus far!
awesome teacher! he is super easy as long if you study all of your class notes there should be no reason for you to get lower than a B in this class. i learned a lot!!! and i got an A in this class too :)
Great teacher. Really cares if you understand what he teaches and definitly makes you think. Class is very interesting and you do gain a deeper outside understanding and view of other religions worldwide.
His teaching style is okey but don't ask to much questions because he will put you on spot!! his rude and always talk outside of subject you will not learn in his class and it's not easy A his notes r hard n quizzes will make your grade lower he shouldn't b teaching he should be comedian yes he is funny and touch his hair like every 5secs
I was excited to study about religions and Professor Meigs does know A LOT about religion but the whole class period he just talks, sometimes even going off to lala land. I didn't really use the book. He talks off his powerpoints so take notes. Study for the final. There's way less info on the questions than in the quizzes.
STEVEN is awesometeacher.my english is 3thlanguage and i found thisclass veryhelpful becauseof steven, bethere everyclass payattention study notes and quizes you'll pass TEST with easyA, don't bet withhim cuz he will put you on spot, and his verystrict on cheating nhe knows his stuff and very educated guy not like other ignorance teachers outthere
Pretty much everyone under my comments r telling the truth he can be VERY RUDE and he can be VERY NICE, but he does teach well and he does care that you attend his class!! very strict on cheating if he caught you cheating he will fail for class no question ask. study hard review notes and quizes than you get A or B. it's up to you how hard youstudy
Very informative instructor. Uses powerpoints for his lectures. You are required to read the chapters so when he asks questions you can answer them. If he sees that the class isn't reading the chapters, he will pop quiz you. Very helpful! He does give daily quizzes so be sure to pay attention.
Great Professor!!!! Kept class extremely interesting and I would definately take him again.
im not sure why there's a chili here on this profile.....hmph i wonder who put it there? but anyways, the class is ok. it's pretty direct, what u see is what u get... just hope your interested enough in religion to stick it to the end!
Prof. Meigs is very knowledgable. The class was alot harder than what I thought it would be.Alot of work.I worked very hard. I started the semester with an F on all his quizes and have an A but yet to take the final. Be prepared for a quiz every class. His midterm was hard. He is always late and he loves to flip his hair. Great teacher just hard!
Awesome teacher!! A little boring but funny as hell. Take him!!!
This Man is a great teacher, but he is very rude and sarcastic. He has a very slick mouth loves to tell jokes. gets mad very easily hates the book demands you to be in class he does the Most!!!!
he was a good teacher and always explained why things are the way they are. although he does have a borderline sarcastic/rude attitude. don't take him if you want an easy A lol find another class. the course overall was interesting and I'm glad i took the course, he challenged me to succeed and i guess thats his job lol
Professor Meigs is VERY knowledgeable, but can also be very rude and condescending.I didn't ask any questions because he usually embarassed those who did.Religion is his LIFE,and it shows!I found it very difficult for an intro course. No homework,2 essays, quizzes every lecture(hard ones).Print out the powerpoints and study study study!Good luck!
If Joseph Campbell is the Yoda of mythology then Meigs is Obi-Wan Kenobi. If you're a holistic thinker and enjoy KNOWLEDGE then take this class. If you're not and are more concerned with your iPhone then get ready to have your brain pushed in. Best class so far.
thought it would be hard but got an A just study a little bit and show up youll do fine
I found pro M. to be 1 of the best @HCC. Secret's on doing well 1)Print handouts b/4 class;2)Study the quizzes;3)RECORD LECTURES; 4)have an open mind. My only criticism's 1)his facial expressions when you answer incorrect;2)constant reminder of his multiple degrees. U get your monies worth from this class.
He is borderline rude, and makes you feel like youre incompetent. does open your mind to a new way of thinking
Simply Awesome
He is rude and scary, but FUNNY. He is smart and interesting and has lots of fun stories to tell. His quizzes are HARD. Expect a quiz in the beginning of every class. Use recorders it will help you since he talks pretty fast and a 100 info's/ sec. Study hard and will give u an A
He is very knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches! He can be rude sometimes and has a superiority complex BECAUSE he is so knowledgeable but he is great nonetheless. Very entertaining. Looks like a california cool verdion of Jim Carrey! Rarely uses the textbooks! He like hates it. Don't miss a class and study cur he quizzes randomly.
I was really excited to take this class, but now I am regretting it. This teacher has been late every day since the semester began. Not just five minutes but up to fifteen each class. He speeds through each subject and doesn't engage the class much. When he does ask us questions he also belittles us. He does not make learning about religion fun.
Arrogant,self-centered, pompous and a bore to listen to are just some of the few words that can be used to describe. He doesn't engage class at all, rather it's just an endless speech. He has successfully turned me off religion. This class could be so interesting. Incredibly disappointed. Mr. Meigs believes himself to be a god.Don't bother speaking
Very Passionate about what he teaches. If you're wrong, he'll tell you you're wrong. It seems everyone wants to be babied, it's college! If you're afraid to answer because you don't want him to "embarrass" you, you obviously are not confident. If he seems rude or mean, It's because he's trying to make a point so that you remember. Quizzes are easy.
Dr, Meigs was amazing. His enthusiasm for the subject matter is obvious and shines through in his every lecture. I took him because my Fiance' suggested it, I'm very glad that I did. My best piece of advice, use his online notes and read your book! Otherwise, sit back and enjoy the lectures!
This was one of my first college courses ever not to mention during summer so twice the pressure and half the time i found professor meigs awesome as long as you want to succeed he will make sure that you do if your lazy and dont care he wont waste his time i didnt find him to be rude at all a bit sarcastic yes but so am i! Loved this class!
Really enjoyed the class.. He is very down to earth and knowledgable in what he is talking about. He is a very good speaker which held my attention. It was a lot to take in in a short summer class but that's what we sign up for. Was late a couple of times but not by much. I would recommend.
This guy is very arrogant, he talks to people like they are below him. I was highly interested in the class but his personality made it less interesting.
Great professor, he does have a strong personality but besides that very good. Took this class during summer, I wish it was longer.
He's a bit cocky, likes to claim that students didn't do the reading from the text books because everyone is to scared to answer his questions. very scatter brained. Doesn't trust you to take good notes so he does them for you and request that you just elaborate on what he says during lectures. pompous as the day is long. killer hair game tho.
Great professor. If you do not open up your mind to different concepts and understandings of the world, you will struggle. The class is not easy because of how much diversity and different religions to understand, granted I took this in the summer so it was crammed in. He can come across as arrogant but once you get to know him hes a great person.
The best Religion teacher on campus
Honestly he was really cool, everyone who is saying he is arrogant couldn't handle him being blunt about stuff, he gets mad if you dont read the book, if you pay attention and listen to what he says quizes aren't too hard. Study guide for exams are in depth and amazing. Overall great teacher, his attitude and energy kept me interested
He is hilarious, passionate, and very entertaining to learn from. He teaches religion from a different perspective, which I totally admire and respect, and often times offended the super Christian people sitting by me. You HAVE to show up and I recommend reading the book. He can be manic at times but I would definitely take his class again!
He is really passionate about his subject but he could also be very rude and offensive to some religions. He is always late to class and goes over his time. We were always behind on lectures because he gets off the subject. Although his lectures were long he does give a great amount of extra credit which is a plus.
After taking this class I ended up with a C, thanks to this professor messing up my perfect 4.0 gpa hardest class i ever taken and its supposed to be easy. You try to ask questions and professor meigs will make you look stupid. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ! I warned you.
Long classes and much info in one class
Made the mistake of taking this class over the summer. Meigs is very arrogant, and loves to hear himself talk. If you answer incorrectly, he will make you feel like an idiot. Therefore, students are afraid to speak up. Do not sleep or text during class. Would NEVER recommended to anyone I like. If I hate you, then I would send you his way.
His class is like any other college class. It's an easy A if you study and show up. If you just think you are going to pass his class just by showing up and not studying, you will not pass. His lectures are interesting but of course LONG. overall he's a good teacher and you do learn a lot.
Meigs is the best professor I've ever had. You'll walk out of the class wanting more. His lectures are very in depth but the tests and quizzes are all basic terms and definitions. He's like a kid in a candy shop when it comes to religion and you'll feel the positive energy he gives off.
Classes are really boring. He always goes over his time limit and tries to keep you in class longer. He's also extremely rude at all times.
Very difficult to ask a question. Hes abrupt and abrasive.
Mr. Meigs is one of the best professors. I learned so much in his class. He was insightful and knowledgeable about all the religions he taught us. No bias. You will work for your grade but so worth it. I only wish he taught more classes, I would take every single one!
The subject matter is intellectually enlightening
Me. Meigs will be a professor I will always remember. His zeal for teaching, his passion for his students is second to none.
Professor Meigs was by far the best professor I had during my time at HCC. His class, although tough, was worth the 30 mile drive twice a week. He is very engaging and thought provoking. His lectures are so informative, one might think he actually lived through the history :)
Steven Meigs receives some very harsh criticism that are unfounded, unless you are just uncomfortable with having your understanding challenged. He very clearly has a lot of wisdom to share, and he does it very clearly with every lesson. The class is easy if you do basic studying, but the real value is Miegs if you bother to correspond openmindedly
Amazing professor! This class was not easy, but I don't think I've ever been this proud of myself for earning an A. Professor Meigs is a great lecturer and if you pay attention and take notes you will pass. He lets you know up front that it isn't an easy A, and that's the truth, but I learned more in this class than any other course I've taken.
Best professor ever!!!! You will be a fool to skip on his class and lectures! They rock!
Professor Meigs has opened my eyes to religion in a way no one else could. He definitely made the class worthwhile and entertaining. This class is not for the slackers, but it's not a hard class if you apply yourself and pay attention.
It was pretty informative actually but a tad troublesome for me. I got a few of the religions that had similar gods/goddesses mixed up by names but that was also my fault for not studying them well enough. He lectured the good and the bad of each religion so well that his own beliefs were unclear. It opens your eyes up to the world's beliefs.
His intro to religion class was outstanding. His insight into the different religions is so unbiased that it gives you a chance to delve into all of them equally. Meigs is hands down the most influential professor I have ever had and you will become a more open minded person after taking any one of his courses.
Professor Meigs is one of the best teachers I have ever had. As a result of his Intro to World Religions course, I changed my major from Communication to Religious Studies. He is an inspiring, honest, intelligent, humble, and entertaining teacher. I highly recommend taking his class.
He is an amazing teacher! His passion for the subject really comes through and anyone who shows up should hang in his every word.
This class was taught with absolutely no bias toward any religion. It seemed that Professor Meigs was as excited to teach Buddhism as Christianity and I learned so much during this course! You have to study and read the material and the nice thing is he gives a quiz each class period so you can see where you need to focus your attention.
I loved taking this class. He taught about each religion with such passion. I tried to figure out which religion he was all semester. He may tell you the last day. His lectures are interesting. I really enjoyed this class. I needed this class to start seaking further into my faith.
I am so happy I took his class. The lectures were interesting and I learned a lot. His class is not an easy A, but I think classes that are more demanding stay with you longer. I definitely recommend taking his class!
My favorite class in 4 years at the school. This man inspired me to reconfigure how I view religious concepts. He is the Mcguyver of spiritual Shirpas.
I would have never expected to enjoy a class about religion even a little bit, but Meigs' class was hands down my favorite in the 3 years I spent at HCC. He is engaging, infinitely brilliant and with every sentence he reminds you of one unwavering truth: he truly loves teaching. I would be ecstatic to take literally any class with him as professor.
I loved professor meigs! He certainly changed my life and my perspective on religions across the world. The way he taught was so engaging and passionate it made the course beyond enjoyable. I wish all my teachers were like him I would take this class over a million times. Only advice is show up and be engaged that's the foundation of any class!
Professor Meigs was one of the best professors I have ever had. His lectures were very intense and fast moving, but I learned so much in his class. You MUST be prepared to read, study the notes he gives, and participate in class discussions. This is college and he treats his students as such. The things I learned have served me beyond the class.
Steven offered the kind of course that made you want to learn. He's relaxed and engaging, with no bias or preachiness. He's the kind of person who gives religion a good name. If he were a Christian, and more Christians were like him - I'd have way less of a problem with them! (former evangelical xtian myself).
I took World Religion at PHSC & it remains one of my favorite classes, even as I now pursue my psych major. Mr. Meigs - a compelling lecturer - is the rare teacher who cares about students, even though he hits you with a fire hose of information. He's tough (lots of impromptu intellectual discussion) but fair. Would highly recommend his classes!!
Took World Religions class several years ago, but Mr. Meigs sticks out in my mind as a highly inspiring professor. You can tell he loves what he does, enough so that he teaches at more than one school. I had a memorable time taking his class. His energy is really enjoyable with jokes and enthusiasm. I'd love to take his class again.
He was always late, took things way to personally, and criticized me for being perfect when I commented on him being late all the time; he complained that i was using my mental disability as an excuse for me not doing my work to his standards; but to the best of my ability. He tests on 3 different religions at once and is very heavy on the tests.
He was an okay teacher, very passionate about the subject. BUT he solicited people to leave him good reviews from his Facebook because he was upset about negative ones. He IS very cocky and made students afraid of answering questions because if you answer wrong he will make you feel dumb. Makes you stay past class time as well.
Honestly, one of the best professors I've ever taken. The class isn't an easy A, but he provides many different resources - including outlined notes - for you to get a good grade. He makes everything so interesting and is very passionate. Laid-back and funny. Show up for class, pay attention to his lectures and the notes, and you'll be good.
I took his religion class and was lecture heavy. He's very interesting and does not have a boring voice. His tid bits and stories are relevant. Allows recordings which is great and very funny when he says a joke, It never failed to make me laugh. Very inspirational and knows a lot about current events. his homework and papers are very fair too.
Awesome teacher! His lectures are heavy though. Try to stay awake. Gives good study guides and tests are exactly what you had on quizzes. 2 papers, not too long or hard, personal reflections. Easy A for me. He cares about students grades and will help if you need it!
He is a mean man and when he makes a mistake, you pay the price. He is very defensive and dismissive. He seems to know it all. Speaks to the class in a very condescending manner.
I honestly never saw myself making an account, let alone leaving a review on this website. For Stephen Meigs however, the pleasure is all mine. I did well on all the tests and quizzes in his class. Meigs is an arrogant and egotistical man. Made me withdraw for absences. I just didn't like being in the same room as him, material wasn't the issue.
Meigs is amazing! So knowledgeable it blew my mind. There are quizzes every week but if you're there for lectures you will ace them. There are to VERY short essays you'll do in his class. Attendance counts, and will help you since you need to know the material for midterm/final and quizzes. He is caring, sarcastic, and hilarious! Would take again!!
Read chapters before lectures in order to not get lost. Hes grading on main concepts not memorization. He grades you on quizzes, 1st and last essay, mid-term and final exam. I strongly advice not to slack on learning the concepts that hes teaching or you wont pass. The notes and quizzes are via canvas, but doesn't mean you should skip lectures.
The lectures are interesting, he lectures the entire hour and 15 mins and ALWAYS keeps you later than you need to be there. DO NOT ask questions or interrupt him while he's lecturing because he will humiliate you. The final 800 word essay you will have to write at the end of your semester will not benefit your grade at all even if you get an 100%
HIs class really opened me up to the spiritual aspect of all of the different religions. He teaches each religion with so much respect that you would never be able to tell what his own personal religion is. Life changing class. Hands down would recommend to anyone.
The course follows a clear schedule. Grading is fair and extra credit is possible. Lectures are very in-depth. Professor has thorough knowledge of subject and cares for the students' success. Professor is engaging and makes the lectures so interesting. Do not miss class. This course enhanced my life. The professor is great.
This is a horrible professor, does not give notes , makes you read chapter and then quiz you and quizzes have nothing to do with chapter. Literally just talks and talks but doesnt provide anything useful for quizzes or tests.
He is an amazing teacher. Very professional and passionate about the subject . He makes the class very interesting , and is very respectful of all religions. Dont miss any of the quizzes because they are the study guide for your tests.
Professor Meigs is awesome. He helped to inspire me to change my major to Religious Studies and I graduated with my BA in Summer 2018. This man cares about his students!
Professor Meigs is a great Professor, he goes into great depth in each religion and you will learn a lot from him, he wants all his students to do well! His quizzes are hard so make sure you study! ! He does not like to be interrupted while lecturing, he lectures the whole class so don't expect to get out early you will stay till last min.
A short quiz in this class will require you to read over 20 pages of documents, read the entire textbook section, and watch 3 70 minute long videos of him talking. Absolutely ridiculous for a prerequisite.
I took this an online a summer class, and I had no issues with the professor but it was definitely a lot of work. Lecture videos were very long, and you have to watch all of them if you want to pass.
