This guy is seriously SO nice. He was my 1st prof. @ HFCC and prolly the best yet. His lectures are detailed but NEVER boring. Tests and quizzes are EASY, minimal homework. Answers ANY question you have - and doesn't make it seem like an obligation. He cares about his students. I liked his lab too but I'm unsure if he still teaches lab for ASTR131.

This class turned out to be very fun, and interesting. He was clear on his directions, on his assignments, and his tests. He told us at the beginning what he expected of us, and stuck to it. If you are thinking about taking astronomy, take it with him. He is great , and interesting. He is more then just a lecture professor. He is more hands on.

Great instructor, exams and quizes are fair, he also gives a curve on the exams. He is not the best at explaining the material, so plan on reading the book and studying. But I would definitely take him for a different class in the future......

Took the 2nd half o fhis astronomy class-Lab online and it was great. He is an excellent professor that emails back when you have a problem and wants to help you. the class is interesting too.

Great professor. I'm taking him for Astronomy Lab Online. Perfect class for me. He's very kind if you work with him. If you're going to be late handing in a lab, CALL him or E-mail him. Seriously, being considerate goes a long way. Always ask him questions you have. He will help you understand and not make you feel like an idiot.

Mr. Murrell is a great teacher he is very helpful no seriously very helpful dont worry about struggling in physics because he is always there for you. he has his own power point slides that really help the student understand physics and save him time instead of reading the whole chapter you just read the slides, he is very helpful in the lab too.

This guy has a knack for teaching. He is an expert and has all the newest info. He can answer all your crazy questions very effectively. Very nice and extreemly reasonable with hw, tests, and grades. Take him, hes great!

i can not belive how help full this teacher is. he never makes you fell dumb and loves when you ask many questions. another thing is that he has many ways of teaching other then talking. i would love to have him as a teacher again.

I took his Ast lab online and thought he was a tough grader. I never got a perfect score. The highest grade was a 15 and he always gave me 14's... it irritated me because I knew the material very well and thought I deserved a better grade.

I took the online lab and found it very interesting! I learned a lot about the universe! Did you know that there are more galaxies than there are grains of sand on all the beaches on Earth???

the class is easy. he gives you all the section assignments ahead of time, and is more than helpful. he even changes the due dates when alot of people didnt do an assignment. overall es a knowledgeable and nice guy.

took this guy online, way easier then in class, even if you get a D on the midterm, just make sure you get an A or B on the final ..and you do all your work , and your get an A in the class , so blow off just make sure you take it online.

He is a great teacher and he makes the class engaging and interesting, although I have always been interested in astronomy. The work is easy, AS LONG AS YOU ARE NOT LAZY. Do the online homework, pay attention in class. Simple. It's sad to see the grades that people give on the tests he gives, they're incredibly easy.

I learned a lot!..this class does require effort...pay attention do the online work and study hard for tests and you'll do fine ..spend an hour a week on this class outside of school and it will show in your grade...if you like to learn this class would be good for you attendance helps your grade at the end

Steve is awesome! I was so about to take the lab with him this coming semester if it wasn't for my schedule forcing me to switch to an online course. He's a really nice guy. He is calm, organized and he encourages questions. He's got a lot of knowledge and a lot of patience what more can you ask for in a professor!

Murrell is certainly an amazing professor. He is so deeply into what he does and is an amazing teacher. 4 NON-CUMULATIVE Tests and a few quizez with around 12 online quizes. Work hard and you will do very well in this class. Such a remarkable teacher. He will do whatever it takes to make sure everyone understands. Take him, you wont regret it!!!

Mr. Murrell is an amazing teacher. He is so well organized and current in his knowledge. Very informative. Attendance NOT mandatory but you will miss class work. He let's you drop your lowest exam grade (or just not take the final) and 2 of your lowest HW grades. He made Descriptive Astronomy so very interesting. I enjoyed going to class.

Not only does he take his time with answering every question, but he really knows his stuff. He is very passionate and wants you to be, too. He is strict on deadlines, but if you have a good excuse he'll accept your work late. Online quizzes are a little tough, and more specific than expected. chapter vocab twice a week. Work load is not too much

Steven is a shining example of what all professors should be. Kind, knowledgeable, respectful, understanding, and goofy. He has a passion for science and astronomy that can been seen in his lectures. The work load usual. Show up, take notes, do the homework, study and the rest comes easy. don't forget about the quizzes! 10/10 would take again.

One of the best teachers I've ever had. Astronomy can be hard to understand at times but he is very patient and will always answer any question, even if it's not astronomy related. After two weeks everyone in the class is participating because the makes the subject entertaining, which makes the class easy. Would absolutely recommend to anyone.

Dr. Murrell is an excellent astronomy professor. He is committed to getting you to learn the material and he likes when you ask questions. Great learning environment. Gets right to the point stays on track no off subject conversations. Most of the exams consists of his lectures and they are EASY! HW is VERY important for your final grade!!

I took Murrell for astronomy, it can get pretty confusing but as long as you are following along in class you should be fine. He provides links to videos to help you understand. It's obvious that he has a lot of knowledge on the subject as long as you do what you need to do you will get an A. He encourages questions and class discussions.

I took Professor Murrells online 8 week Astronomy class. Assignments were due every few days, but as long as you read the book, the homework and quizzes were easy. I would take a course from him again!

Great teacher, i learned so much from this class and it was very interesting. Very easy and straight forward class. Tests are so easy. I missed a lot of classes and didnt do the online work (which was very easy) bc i had a lot going on and i still passed with a C. Wish i couldve showed up to class more bc lectures were worth it

This guy is the best professor at HFC. Super passionate about the subject and wants you to ask questions. Mostly concepts which was awesome. He wants students to be as interested as he is so he doesn't really waste his time with the super technical stuff (because of it's your major you'll learn it eventually). He's great, take him!

Me. Murrell is a great Professor, he teaches the material really well and is always there to help when you need it. He also loves Astronomy! He curves youre grade and offers 2 easy extra credit opportunities each semester.

So I need to get a Class with experiments. Which led me to have Mr. Murrell, in Light and Sound. He's good on making things alot clearer, lectures are 10/10 makes sure everyone understands the important things, and if you have any questions and he's not busy he answers your questions as quick as he can. I recommend this class with out hesitation

Winter '20. 8 week online. was a bit rushed because not many weeks but if you focus, you can manage it. Has 10 Q relatively easy quiz after each chapter, total of 14. total of 4, 2 hr timed, 50 Q unit exams. Will drop lowest grade. Gave one extra credit assignment. He seemed very helpful, will give lots of other resources like videos &unit reviews

The syllabus is clear, so it what is expected of you. The course really isn't that difficult. It mostly requires you to understand definitions and a few concepts. He explains well in class. Made astronomy interesting for me. Take him!

AMAZING Teacher! Gave me extra time such a good person, understood when I had problems, and allowed me to get an A. The class is really easy this teacher I would easily recommend him!

He is an extremely clear professor. The clearest and straightforward professor I've ever had. He tells you everything that needs to be done from the beginning of the year and when everything is due. Do not miss a single due date because you will not be able to get it back. If you think you'll procrastinate, do everything at the beginning of year.

You have stuff due every Tuesday and Friday by 5. Lots of work, but not rocket science. This is an easier science class especially the lab. He's a really nice and understanding guy who really does want to help you out.

He's a good professor, but the astronomy lab was pretty hard. He responded to his email, he gives you good feedback, he gives you a good grade. As long as you do your best you'll be fine. Also, each quiz is 10 questions and they're all multiple choice. AND NO THE ANSWERS ARE NOT ON QUIZLET!!!!!

He was a great professor, he does give you a chapter each week to read and do the work and then he gives you a quiz of 10 questions. The quiz is easy everything can be found on Quizlet so it's an easy class you basically learn nothing! So yeah if you're looking for a class just for credit take this class. He's a great person by the way!

I took Astronomy with him. He was clear about what was expected to succeed in his class. The subject matter was interesting to me, which helped my grade. There were weekly quizzes and 4 quarterly exams. I took it over the summer, so the course went by quickly with a lot of information in a short amount of time. I would take a class with him again.

Great professor, the only reason I got a C+ is because of my own fault and missing a couple of exams. He grades fairly and gives good notes so you know where you were right/wrong.

Amazing professor. Easy grader & if you make a mistake or two on the tutorial he still gives full points. BE SURE TO DO THE WORK. If you do not you will fail. There is a lot of material: course reading, online & paper tutorials, & a quiz for each chapter. All are easy provided you put in the work. I've seen ppl try to cheat & fail, so don't bother

Pr. Murrell's Astronomy class is an online course. He does pretty well with his lecture recordings. His assignments weren't that hard. I would recommend him for a science course when credit is needed.

He is a very caring professor, he gives you a full grade if you got one or two things wrong. He also explains everything in his lecture videos and also explains each assignment in a video every week. He is a very sweet person and cares about his students.

I enjoyed his class! Be prepared to study for tests!!! There's 4 throughout the whole semester but also about a quiz each week. Attendance isn't mandatory but I would advise to go so you can work in groups and not turn in the assignments late (which he wont accept).

Easy online course, I was scared of the work my first month but it got easier. each chapter you have to work on an interactive website than do the assigned quiz. You also need to read each chapter in the textbook and answer the pages Prof. Murrell assigns. Four exams and lowest one dropped at the end of the semester. Easy class if you do the work.

Teacher was pretty chill only strict on being late, if you need help just ask and he'll walk you through it.
