He took a quite difficult subject and made it very clear. You must go to class and take good notes, but if you study your notes DAILY you will do well. Also, you do NOT need the book for Microbiology Lecture.

Great teacher. Do no need the book but must go to lectures. His notes is the test but you have to study them. His exams are straight forward no tricks. If you miss class you will have to read all the chapters and still may not do well so go to lectures and study the notes.

This is a GREAT Professor. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He does tend to go very quickly,as though you should already know the information. Pay attention and ask questions. I would recommend him highly.

The tests are definitely not easy, but you will do good if you put time into studying. All the information comes straight from the notes. He is definitely a great professor that I would reccomend. He keeps it interesting and adds a sense of humor.

this is a very dedicated and funny professor however..DO NOT take him if you don't have time to put in some hours to study his notes, tests consist of 20-30 pages of notes and he loves to throw in detailed questions. this is not a professor you can take other difficult classes with study really really well for the preacticals!!

O.K I HAD HIM FOR BOTH LECTURE & LAB. HE IS SOFT SPOKEN, EXPALINS VERY WELL, HUMOUROUS, BUT YOU REALLY HAVE TO DIG HIS NOTES AND PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION TO HIS CLASS. I WOULDN'T RECOCMMEND HIM TO ANYBODY FOR LAB. IT WAS THE END OF MY LAB CLASSS AND I STILL WAS LOST. HE IS NOT SO GREAT FOR THE LAB.

he is very funny and attentive to questions, dont need text book, all test questions come straight from the notes, so take really good notes, if i could do it over again i would have taken a tape recorder and you can get an A. the key is the lecture notes, you have to get every detail

I always thought Micro was gonna b a hard subj.,but he made it so simple & easy! I was amazed at how much A's I was getting in his class. He makes learning fun too by adding cartoons & funnies on his powerpoints. The case study was real easy..straight from the book, and the questions he asked were not difficult at all. U will love Micro thx 2 him!

I really enjoyed Professor O's class. He explains topics in terms which are easy to understand and he's pretty humorous, so lecture flies by. I even got 100s on some of the quizzes. Hint- You do NOT need the book, because everything on tests he teaches in class. But don't miss class- you'll miss important notes- wish he taught the lab.. Recommended

Good teacher. He make things veasier to understand. he barely use the books but he gives out notes like crazy but it's helpful in the quiz and the test. Although doesnt give extra credit he drops the lowest quiz grade.

Prof O is synonym of knowledge & intelligence. I've never been this impressed w any prof since my attending BCC. Microbio is hard, yet his teaching brings it down to our level & his notes are all you need- textbook is optional. My classmates & I are now in nursing & not a week goes by that we don't think of him. He should teach nursing! Luv him!

I loved this class. Dr. Obenauf is the best. His lectures are so interesting. I loved the lab as well. I took the 6 week lecture and lab. He is the sweetest guy and you actually learn. You should get the book if you can afford it. Although it's not required for class, it will help you with your case study and unknown in lab.

His test you must study for and none are the same so you can not study old tests to pass. must go to class to get the info but it is not mandatory. Also he uses power point. you do not need the book. but if you want to pass go to class. Tests are hard.

Obenauf will undoubtedly be one of the best professors you will ever have. The material is well laid out and he has put a substantial amount of time into making it interesting. He understands the big picture and focuses on the key elements of the material. Making it a truly valuable experience. An absolute star, BCC is lucky to have him.

i took him fall 09 and he is very good he is not easy but u can get a good grade I got a C. his grading scale is hard i did really good on mostof my test and one bad one made my grade drop tried to get it back but my 91.5%only move it up two points. oh he doesnt not round so if u have 69.9 its a D! most ppl were in that position

Please don,t take him. He is very hard. He doesn,t give a review. He expect us to know the material in 3 months while it took them years to write this book. I got an A, but I had to give up 3/4 of my life. Some of my classmates cried, so hard was he. Please again don,t take him. He is going to make you cry.

I just finished taken Dr. Obenauf's class. I found him ver interesting and funny. His tests and finals are all based on his lecture notes. You do have to study!! But overall I really enjoyed going to his class. He is tough on his quizes but he drops your lowest quiz. You will learn important stuff from him. Highly Recommended!

He is a funny guy. He loves what he does and you fall in love with science too. His tests are from the notes but keep in mind that we are here to learn not get an easy A. I wouldn't want a nurse aiding me who got an easy A. Take time out to study. If your passion isn't science/health care then it will be hard for you. Otherwise class was great!!!

Dr Obenauf is a great professor. If you want to learn, he's your guy as he loves teaching. He doesnt use the books but rather goes from his ppt. He is one of the few professors where you actually learn if you put in the work!

Dr. Obenauf is hands down the best professor that I have ever had at BC. I read some reviews & want to comment: No reason to read the book. Take detailed notes from his power point. Study the notes!! I took him for both lab & lecture. Attendance isn't required for lecture, but you should go anyways to learn. Print out the lecture outlines he posts for taking notes, so you can keep up with him. In lab, make sure you read the labs before coming to class, he gives pop quizzes, not hard ones. Labs are done in groups. Overall I recommend taking him

Prof. O is an amazing Professor and a great man. He truly cares about his students and wants to help them learn. He always throws his humor into lectures. Tests are not difficult if you listen and take notes during class. PowerPoints and outlines available on D2L. Attendance is NOT mandatory but I suggest going. Replies to emails within hours.

I would take Prof O again in a heart beat. I learned more about microbes than ever before and have gained so much knowledge from taking his lecture and lab course. He does give a lot of work but this is an advanced science class so that is a given. Nothing in life is given to you easy so this is def a class you must work hard in.

I wish every professor had as much passion for their students success as he does. Truly worth taking! Lab was fun but look out for pop quizzes not hard questions. Amazing hands down. I love that hes so passionate about microbiology. Studying is key and never slack off your work. I received a B in his lecture and lab class. Even though my lab grade was a 89 I honestly feel that I deserve a A. I would HIGHLY recommend this professor.

Do yourself a favor and take Dr. O he is definitely a very special professor. Amazing at what he does and really puts his own touch on his lessons. I worked my butt off in this class so no doubt it is hard but his tests go based off of the notes, drops lowest quiz, fair grader and you will enjoy his humor and this class overall. Not sure who would give this man a bad rating because he is amazing. No, the course is not easy, but it is super enjoyable if you give it some effort. If you are expecting anything less than studying your butt off for your grade, you chose the wrong career path, considering the majority of students taking this course are pre-nursing. Good luck.

Obenauf is a great professor, he has amazing powerpoints that are very easy to follow. He gives outlines for every powerpoint which is a great way to study his test and pass. He gives the option to drop the lowest quiz grade out of 6 quizzes. I would suggest anyone looking pass take this professor he's very passionate about microbiology.

one of the best professors i've had for health science. attendance isn't mandatory but the tests come directly from the power points so it benefits you DRASTICALLY if you come to class. he always puts more info on the ppt that he uses in lecture. the book is only needed for a case study report but you can find what you're looking for online.

If youre scared to take Micro, Take Prof. O! His tests/quizzes are based on your understanding and not memorization. He is so passionate about micro that it rubs off on you. Wish more professors taught like him. 6 quizzes (drops the lowest), mid term, final, case study.

Dr. Obenauf is one of the best professors at BC. He is very caring and is willing to help you out with any question you may have. It was one of the hardest courses I have ever taken but I passed. You can too. Study his power points its a lot but his exams are on power point material. I did not use textbook for lecture attendance is not mandatory.

By far the best prof. Record his lectures and makes notes out of it, uses power points so notes &power points together will be enough to pass this class. This professor really cares about you and wants you to succeed. You have to study as it is microbiology but his tests are not tricky as long as you know the basis of his powerpoint. I recorded the lectures and listened back and that really helped. He loves microbiology and it shows. He's hilarious as well.

I was scared to take Micro because of how hard I heard it was. Waited to take it with Obenauf, studied hard and got an A. Print out ALL of his outlines from d2l and use those for notes while following his powerpoints in class. All tests are based on his outlines. Use textbook to supplement notes. Easy A if you put in the work to study. Trust me.

Favorite professor. You can tell he enjoys teaching & really cares. Makes lecture interesting. 6 quizzes, drops the lowest & ranges from "a lil tricky" to "easy" & throws in a couple of free-bees here & there. I had Dr. Obenauf for zoology and microbiology in the early 90s!. He teaches with amazing passion! When I was accepted to PA school, he took me to the teachers lounge and introduced me to his associates. It was the first time I ever felt respected on such a level. I never forgot that! Even till this day it still strikes a cord. He's a great guy.

Obenauf teaches with infectious passion. His lectures are engaging, and the textbook is a helpful resource. Attending class is key - I found unstuck ai and ChatGPT useful for study prep too.
