He has no clue what he is teaching! This is the reason he gives very little partial credit. He will not be missed after he is booted after this semester! It took the dept. long enough to realize he is a fool!
I only went to half my classes, did half the homework, and still aced the class! He's amusing (ADD sometimes interferes with teaching!)....
this guy is a jerk, he has no respet for people, dresses very unprofessional for having a phd. in mathematics. He needs to take a chill pill and relax a little. I have never met a more horrible teacher in my life!!!
After reading other comments I was afraid of this professor. Lucky for me his was the only section open and I had too take it. He is soooo easy. And i'm not even a math person. If you can't pass his class you are either a moron or a total slacker.
Hey, I didn't mind Sepanski. I took his class in the Spring and he wasn't bad. He's a hell of a lot better teacher than TIM RUBY. Why ain't he on this site? Anyway, Sepanski was a cool guy, a little nutty, but not bad.
People who have not taken him for UPPER-LEVEL math classes should not rate him. Anyone with dummy math skills can teach 100-level classes. Try taking a REAL math class with him, you will see what a horrid professor he is!
I don't know why this class is so hard- I don't think the math is that difficult! Come on, it's 082. But I guess his rating proves why.

I don't understand eveyones complaining about partial credit and crap - in my class he gave us pop quizzes- sign your name for 10 pts. He is definitely not hard if you ask him he'll explain it again and again and again.
He is a little loopy, has ADD for sure. If you know math, you're fine. His tests are straight forward, he works out problems if you need help, but he is a little "not with the program." I'm pretty good in math, so it was a breeze.
He goes over easy problems in class but assigns complicated ones for homework. Not very clear explanations in class either. Expects everyone to pick up on concepts first time through.
has a trunk with a billion cards in it assigns very tedious homework thinks he is better and smarter than everyone else although he often used his calculator for simple math.
this is svsu not harvard. teaches the class like were all geniuses. if we are that smart we wouldn't be at svsu. needs to dumb it down a bit.
He is a very good teacher, he is very helpful...if you need help he will stay after class and help you. If you do the homework, and do well on the tests you should do fine.
Doesn't give tests...just quizzes everyday where you can use a "formula sheet." Doesn't really teach, just does examples on the board, but I think he's the best, easiest choice for Stats. I had an A before I took the exam and I can't actually say I know how since I was confused the whole semester.
i liked having him for a teacher. It was a good class. We didnt have any quizzes. Your grade was based on your test scores. If you do you homwork you will do fine. Hes willing to help

i had to drop the class after one week. don't even bother with him. try someone else.

doesn't even know when assignments are due. comes to class and says --do you have anything to hand in or hand in your labs--and their do next week.
He is a very good teacher. I really understood math , and I'm not very good at it. He explains everything very well, and answers all questions until everyone understands the topic. He gives a quiz everyday, but it helps with your grade, and with understanding the material. :-)
Professor Speanski is a nice guy, but he can't teach to save his life. No one in my class knows what's going on. This subject matter isn't too difficult, but he makes it hard. My class recently comtemplated walking out on him. Don't take this guy.
Hes an easy guy, no homework or quizes. However the tests are difficult, they are created by the department not him. Teaches it as if its review so maybe more challenging if it isnt.
pretty easy class. daily quizzes but drops the lowest 20%. there are some labs, but only counts the top ten or so, and you only do the homework if you want to, not mandatory, overall not too bad of a class
This class is not bad as long as you have decent math skills. I always understood what he was teaching just fine...but many in the class struggled.

VERY inflexible about office hours. Unwilling to help if you can't make it on his time. Makes the class much harder than it should be; I'm a math minor and a national merit scholar who spent my entire semester in the math lab and still failed his class.
Dr. Sepanski's notes were very helpful and his class was super easy. If you can pay attention in class and just take some notes, you could get an easy A. He basically gives you all the questions that will be on the tests!
very rude.i was talking to the girlnexttome during class and he told me to "shut up" that i was "getting on his nerves"and that this was a "class not a social hour." very disrespectful of students
stay away. don't waste your money. our class started with more than 30 students, now there are less than 10. and maybe none of us are even passing.

This class is horrible, I don't think it's so much him as it is the entire math department. Don't take 103 at Saginaw...almost everyone in our class is failing. He is a nice guy though if you need help.
the people that gave him bad rate must not have paid attention. Good teacher and the others that rated him are full of crap.
tells you what you need to know. he's a nice guy. go to class because he gives 10 point quizzes that you can't make up... some days maybe 40 points and drops at least the lowest ten.
He isn't that bad of a teacher. He does give a lot of quizes but they are all from your homework, I got an A in the class so it isn't that difficult to do!

Helpful at first but if you still don't understand he tends to get irritated easily. Doesn't assign homework or quizzes (kills your grade) and also doesn't go over any problems with homework in class. Works only with the problems that were supposed to be the homework and leaves alot out of lecture.
Awesome professor. If you go to class, and pay attention there is no reason for doing bad. He makes it nearly impossible to do poorly. I think he is a really funny guy and for the majority of the time is in a good mood. I'd recommend him in a heartbeat.
I was told to take him instead of mth125, glad I did, ended up with an A! Try and take him! I had him 4 days a week. 3 quizzes on Thurs. Ended up dropping 15 and the final was worth 100pts. He was moody at times, but I would recommend him to anyone that sucks at math and has to take for gen ed requirements! I missed maybe five times. No make ups!
I took this class in the spring. It went fast but he explained things well. He did the labs in class, all you had to do was dup. them at home. Several quizes, no homework or exams. He dropped the lowest 12 of your lab/quiz scores. Take him if you can.
doesn't even know how to do calculus. when a student askes him a question he asks the rest of the class if they know how to do it. sometimes a student will say how and he goes through the way they say and gets stuck and says "oh well, back to the drawing board. any other ideas." and maybe he tries a whole bunch of wrong things before getting it.
He is a good teacher though he has FLAWS. Very nice though I saw him everyday in his office for help and he never treated me like crap for it. He gives quizzes almost every class & your exam is DIRECTLY from the quizes exactly the same questions. He almost never checks his email so don't rely on it. I got an A- hes not the best but hes workable.
I have him right now and he is great. I don't like statistics, but he explains things very clearly and doesn't overload you. Only final exam and quizzes every class. You get to use a sheet of paper that you can write formulas on though so it's pretty easy. He only takes top 50 quizzes too. Labs are really easy and we get out of class early.

The class was dificult but he did a great job teaching it. He made sure you passed.
He reminds me of the Teacher from south park. He says," Umm kay, umm kay" a lot. He's a good teacher. I brought him Starbucks Coffee to class and he gave me extra credit points.
Teaches very fast. You get a quiz every class on what you learned the class before. No time to comprehend material. Useless in office hours. Only has one way to explain. Says I've done this for 13 years so I know what I'm doing. Past students say you can fail all your quizzes and pass as long as you do good on the computer labs. Don't take him
Do NOT take him if you are not a math genius. Not a sociable person at all. I was an all A student until his class. Oh wait, maybe it is because "MY 6th grade children grade your guys quizzes" Wow is that even legal?
i loved this class and i dont even like math...and I got an A. he made everything really easy to understand and even tho we had quizzes every day, they were usually easy...and at the end the final is optional, take him if you can..i would do it again
Do not take him unless you like teaching yourself. His teaching style is very fast pace, and the whole class is note taking. He will not repeat anything, so pay attention. As far as helping, he expects you to go to the math center, not him. So be warned...take another teacher if possible. 3-5 quizzes per day (45 min to do them).
He was a horrible professor. He gave us 3-6 quizzes a class. His office hours were only like a half hour and he never cared enough to help.

Two words describe this professor... MATH GEEK. HE thinks because he knows it that you already know it all and teaches that way. People are correct when they say it's all notes and quizzes and hardly NO teaching in his class. He's horrible.
we started with 30 students in the class. by the final exam there were 5. that says it all about this guy. how can svsu have aclass like this they are just taking our money for nothing
there are a lot of sections of this course. your smart if you take smoe one else. stay away from him
If you don't have any prior knowledge about math, I wouldn't suggest taking him. He cuts a lot of corners and expects that you automatically know the steps that he skipped. Fairly nice guy one-on-one, but likes to make the class feel stupid for having to take a class that his high-school aged children are also taking at the same time.
Great Class! Great Teacher, gives you practice quizzes to help you study, but quizzes are questions from the book, teaches by using homework problems so you know exactly how to work them out on your own. Helpful and funny, not mandatory to take final! I also had him for algebra, best at svsu!

WHAT EVER YOU DO DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! He is completely useless to further your education. He does not care about you or your grade. HE makes it impossible for you to pass the class.(over half of my class dropped it).He has no personality and anyone who says they liked him were math geeks and shouldn't have been in that class to begin with!
No Tests, just quiz's every class period. Option not to take final if you do well on your quiz's. As long as you do your homework, you will do well in this class. Prof. Sepanski is extremely helpful, and is always available during office hours. Only caution, he is a talker!!
This class was a lot of work because he gives out multiple quizzes almost every class. He often gets side tracked and rambles on about politics. On the plus side he is always late for class and sometimes cancels in the winter because he lives further away.
Great professor! One of my fave math professors here at SVSU. He makes all of the exams (including the final) open book which is sweet. He is a funny guy, and I really enjoyed having him as a professor. I am taking him again in the fall for Math 262. =)
if you've already had a higher math class, take him. he's really boring to listen to, but i passed the class without even buying the book, all i did was print a couple charts off the internet. he gives multiple quizzes each class period, but if you do well on them, you don't have to take the final.
Professor Sepanski is a very good teacher. You have quizzes every class and you are allowed to use a "cheat sheet" with some formulas. Overall a quality teacher as long as you put the time in.
Prof. Sepanski is a wonderful professor. He knows his material and is always helpful. You had quizzes every class period. If you do the homework problems odds are they will be one of your quiz questions. I did the homework every night and passed the class with an A. Super easy.
He is a great professor. At times he gets a little side tracked, but for the most part he is right on. He is extremely helpful if you ask him for help. Go to office hours! I had him for 3 classes now... I would continue you to take him if I could:)
Doesn't know how to teach! Skips steps. Doesn't know how to bring it down to a student's level. No more OPEN BOOK/NOTES!!! Assigns lots of problems, collects only a few. Take Zerger!
There were daily quizzes, but if you stayed on top of the material, you'll pass them all. If you do well enough on the quizzes, you don't have to take an exam!
Too much emphasis on proofs. If you do all the material correctly except for the proofs you will get C.
i agree. too much prooves. i didn't becoma math major to do prooves. there is more to math than prooves. he can do them but he can't expain them at all. so he shouldn't grade them. plus he makes you do 10 of them and only collects one.
this is the fourth class i had with him. i got an A in the other three (calc3-4 and probability). I got a C in this class--barely. In the other three classes he never did a proof once. now everything is proofs. take him for 261, 262, 311 but not this.
Sepanski doesn't prepare for his lectures, and won't bother to explain what it is that he wants out of his students, so it is a continual guessing game in his class. I love math, but I dreaded going to this class because of his inability to teach proficiently. I would NEVER recommend him to ANYONE, as I barely learned anything new in the class.

way too much work for 4 credits. this class should be 10 credits since we had 54 quizzes 6 online homework and 6 minitab assignments
our class started out full. now there about 15 students and only about half of those are passing. less than 10 out of 30 passing a class? really. doesn't prepare for class, just comes and does a bunch of problems picked at random from the book. he does get them right, he just can't explain why.
Sepanski is not a bad prof, but he isnt the best. You will do great in this class if you do the homework problems, all of his quizzes are just random problems out of the homework that he assigns. There arent tests just a lot of quizzes which actually makes it easier. You only have to take the final exam if you want to drop like 10 of your quizes.
I did not like this course. I took it at 8:30 AM which was not a good choice and he was not helpful at all. There are no tests besides the final that is optional. He is not the best professor but also not the worst. Prepare to study and work hard.
75% of his class failed and I was one of them, he has no quizes and just pulls random problems from the book for ungraded homework. there are only 4 tests and class average was 48%. I retook the class and got a B+ from a different teacher.
Sepanski is an awesome guy, however, he makes a lot of mistakes when it comes to teaching, writes in pen all the time when teaching, and course grade is determined by 4 exams. Also, he skips steps when it comes to solving a problem and expecting students to realize what is happening. If math is a struggle for you, don't take it with Sepanski.
this class is way too hard. he explains things very well but when it comes to tests he picks the hardest problems he can find from the book. also the grading is ridiculous. if you put a decimal (ex:.1666) instead of a fraction (1/6) he will mark it wrong.
this class is so easy. he does a problem from the book. the next cxlass you will have a quiz on it. he picks the problem from the book one number before or after the one he did and that's the quiz-every single time. if you do well on all the quizzes you don't have to do the final. the online homework is multiple choice T/F and you get 5 tries.
He acted like he really didn't care about his students and was not negotiable when it came to grades even if your 2% away from an A.. He also quizzes almost always twice a week.. Would not recommend him

Worst class I have ever taken. He is arrogant and was little help in office hrs. Poor class room instruction- most of the time it consisted of him sloppily doing random questions from the text book on the overhead with limited commentary while the class struggled to keep up. would defiantly not recommend.
He only based your grade on four tests. Problems he did in class were wrong a lot and he didn't care to fix them. He also made you feel stupid for not understanding a concept. I am usually very good at math but I struggled badly in this class.
Not a good professor. He will make you feel dumb if you make mistakes on tests. Does not curve, only gives extra credit once he notices the majority of the class is failing. Normally, I am very good in math, but this professor made me feel like I never knew what I was doing.

my calc 1 teacher could barely speak English and after a while you could get used to it and understand. he speaks English and you can't understand a thing he says--ever
He gave great examples, which were almost identical to the quizzes. Do on-line homework for practice and a better grade. In reference to grade complaints, Statistics is hard regardless; most people in class were on their second or third time taking it.
I'm seeing all these terrible comments about Sepanski and am very confused. People saying that his class is hard are obviously not the brightest people. ALL of the questions on his tests come DIRECTLY from the book word for word. If you do the homework, you will know the tests and get an A. Easy pass!
WORST TEACHER EVER !! He doesn't care about his students , indifferent, arrogant. doesn't write on the board, comes to class late, barley teaches, keeps getting problems wrong. his tests are so random, picks hardest problems and even # which you don't have an answer for. long story short, passing is unlikely . Asked for help several times, had very few office hours and instructed me to go to the learning center for help. The learning center was useless because his quizzes were directly what he taught. He was all over the place and not friendly.
He seems to have a habit of getting off topic in class. He moves very quickly through the material. You take at least one quiz every class, and the wording is always much different than the way you learn it.
I truly don't know why everyone has such bad things to say about him. I have him for my Statistics class right now, and he's not bad at all. Yes, he moves very quickly through the material, and there are multiple quizzes every class. But if you do the practice problems like he suggests, you'll pass. Sepanski was one of the rudest professors I've ever taken. There's A LOT of online hw and quizzes nearly every class. My issue was not the obnoxious workload though, it was his personality. You were treated like an idiot if you asked questions and he was very arrogant and condescending.
Do not Be Late. He will tear you a new. Not do not let your cell phone go off. He will tear you a new One. More concerned with discipline than teaching. Like being in the army.
He knows what he is doing, but his students don't ! YOU MUST PRACTICE BY YOURSELF , he is ready to help @ office hours. first exam will fail 60% of the class to make them study. He got stuck on difficult problems. make sure to go tutor center to double check that problems. STUDY AT HOME , STUDY BY YOURSELF or you won't pass !
He was very rude. Goes on side tangents and confuses you. Grade is only based on tests. No homework only suggested work. Doesn't really clarify anything, he expects you to know exactly what you are doing. Will never take him or recommend him to anyone which is hard for me to say because I am normally nonjudgmental
Dr. Sepanski does not teach the material. He just goes over the problems in the book. Assumes you know the steps. Encourages the class to drop if they are doing poorly rather than trying another approach to teaching the material. In calculus it is important to LEARN the material not memorize the ungraded homework problems which is what he expects.
Worst math professor I have had out of five math professors. Don't be the one to think that people are wrong on here, and that you can do better. This guy is THAT bad. Avoid at all costs or you will have to retake the class. Tests are your only grades and he grades incredibly hard. No partial credit given. Not understanding at all.
Told me to memorize homework problems to pass the class but still didn't pass me. Does not give partial credit on tests so you either get all or none. Told the class most of us will see him again in the fall for the class again. Horrible.
Fair professor. Scheduled weekly quizzes on each concept. Throws out your bottom quiz grades and if you get a high enough grade, you can opt out of final exam. Book with on-line component is crucial for increasing your grade. Although attendance is not mandatory, you may miss quiz or new concept .

He is an awful professor.I had a 3.8 gpa in the fall and with 2+ hours of tutoring every day after class im still failing... avoid at all costs, not helpful at all during office hours and does not teach the material well... does not post grades anywhere because thats "not in his job description".
Here's the end of your GPA, non-missable quizzes every day. An average of 3-6 a day. Atheletes who miss class for games are screwed, because you cannot make the quizzes up no matter what. The math department supports all of his horrible teaching. He refuses to help you even during his office hours. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR NO MATTER WHAT.
Got a C up until the last two weeks and I fell behind. Math is not my strongest subject, but to do well on the quizzes, you have to practice multiple problems from the book AND do required online homework. Goes off on tangents and writes very sloppy. Quizzes each class. WORST decision - destroyed my GPA, and I'm a solid A/B student otherwise.
All he does is examples out of the book. He gives recommended homework... do them. He is a very tough grader. Tests are written response but doesn't give much partial credit .
I don't understand why everyone is talking bad about Dr. Sepanski. He gave you a list of all the homework you needed to do to prepare you for exams. The homework was not for a grade, however he literally copied and pasted problems from the book onto his test. So if you do the homework you will pass the class easily. And most exams had EC!.. Study!!
I am overall extremely disappointed in his class. I am a 4.0 student and currently have a D- in his class. I have spent almost every day in the tutoring center, and although it has helped, his teaching has done nothing for me. Please do not take this class.
You take a quiz everyday, but at the end of the semester you can drop 10. Assuming you didn't miss any of them. Lecture every class period, and minimal access to him outside of class. Expect book work that he won't grade but tests you on, online homework that is graded, and quizzes out of 10 points (up to 5 in a class period). NOT RECOMMENDED!
I highly recommend not taking this professor. I took calculus in high school and received an A but when I took Calculus again from this professor I got C's on every test because he did not teach the material correctly. Also, when going over practice problems in class, he would make many mistakes and have to start all over again.
If you want to feel lost everyday, this is your guy. Doesn't explain how he wants to do things, but will tell you after an exam that your way wasn't the way to do it. Makes mistakes in lectures and cannot solve some of the questions given by the class. Overall, I want to use the word avoid, but that is an understatement
He's a weird guy, but an amazing professor. Yes, I was an 'All A' student in high school but I have almost a 100% in his class. Quizzes are almost every day and they let you rack up a lot of points, which is good. Perhaps the people giving him negative feedback were expecting the class to be a breeze. It's a college math class. Put the work in.
I missed one of the first days due to being hospitalized and in one period of class he gave out 6 quizzes. This man is horrible. It sounds promising that you can drop 10 quizzes but when that adds up to a class and a half, it isn't that promising. He wouldn't accept any missing classes for any reason, even if it is for athletics and you have a pass
class is based primarily on quizzes. there is also online homework. to him, one problem is one quiz, so thats why there's multiple quizzes a class period. write down his notes, DO THE BOOK HOMEWORK, and you will be just fine. 9/10 , the problems he pulls for the quizzes are from the homework assignments. do your book homework, you will do fine

I really lucked out on my stats professor with Dr. Sepanski. He seems gruff at first which is the persona he tries to give off, but he really cares about stats and knows his stuff. Do the Pearson online homework before in-class quizzes, and you will be prepared for them. I am not the best at stats, but I did Pearson and not much more and was fine.
The reviews are true. He gives three exams and then a cumulative final exam. Those are the only grades you get. He does not teach concepts, he just does problems from the book. Does not care if you do well and literally said he doesnt care if you come to class. Tells you on the first day half of you will fail. Would not recommend.
Every class there are 1-10 quizzes and if you don't show up you can't make it up so GO TO CLASS. Quizzes aren't bad if you do the homework and make good equation sheets. Final is tough. Drops 10 lowest quiz scores at the end.

This was my lowest grade of the semester, but he was the best teacher I've had. He gives quizzes every week instead of cumulative tests, and you're allowed a full page formula sheet. Keep every quiz and formula sheet you have for final. Go to the tutoring center and his office hours religiously and you will pass. He makes you buy an online code.
Horrible. Took his class for 2 days and couldnt stand him. He gives quizzes in every lecture and expects you to know everything he taught. Very horrible at explaining things. Dont take his class if u want to take math again.
Professor Sepanski is good at what he does. He teaches the concepts of statistics very well. Towards the end of the semester I had a family tragedy occur and I missed two classes. He worked with me on the lessons I missed and made sure I was caught up. You have to do the work and reach out, but he is more than willing to help you!
50 quizzes over the semester but lowest 10 were dropped if you take the final, if you don't drop any you don't have to take the final. Concepts were hard but he gives you exactly what to study with the homework questions. Was a bit rude to me but is overall a nice guy. Many people in my class were struggling but they did not attend the tutoring.
Prof will go over few, low difficulty, examples in class on each subject. Then will select extremely high difficulty questions for the test. Very stingy with partial credit. Does not schedule and review days before tests. Over half of my class dropped after the second exam
Sepanski is hilarious and an amazing stats professor. He knows his stuff. I don't know why everyone is complaining about the quizzes, they're only 1-2 questions each and they let you rack up a ton of points. If you bomb a few you get to drop some at the end of the semester. Pay attention, take good notes, and you'll be fine. I would take him again.
Professor Sepanski was a good teacher overall. I atteneded the tutoring center a lot for help, so go there when you are struggling they are great help. You take quizzes almost every class. I honestly never did any book homework. Didn't even do anything not graded before I studied for the final. He wants to give A's. He drops quizzes you do badly, gives you easy online stats projects, and online homework with unlimited chances. The only think I don't love is that he teaches new material before quizzing you on older material.
Terrible teacher. Tons of homework that doesn't get graded, doesn't care if you show up for class or not. Does a few easy questions in class, then gives super tough problems on tests. Quizzes every class, but is stingy on points given for quizzes. Has 3 test and the final he grades you on so you better be a great test taker to pass his class.
Professor Sepanski is very educated on statistics. He was a great professor and the class is easy if you put the work in. Do the homework in the book, he takes those problems and uses them for the quizzes and final exam. He is open to helping you if you reach out. Very great professor. Funny too.

I strongly advise you to go to his office hours for ANY questions, and actually do the homework problems he assigns. He is more than willing to help you, IF you show the effort.
I don't know why his reviews are so negative, Sepanski is the BEST stats prof at SVSU. An "A" will not be handed to you, but it is certainly attainable with this professor. It is a COLLEGE course. Suck it up and put the work in. Quizzes are easy and they let you rack up a ton of extra points! Don't skip class and you'll be fine.
Sepanski is one of the best math professors at SVSU. He gives easy quizzes everyday that boost your grade. He also gives partial credit on answers, so if you show your work, you'll get points. I struggle with statistics but I got an A. Overall, he's hilarious and spunky and I would DEFINITELY take him again. Put the effort in and you'll do fine.
Very rude. if you are very good at math you will do fine, however, if you struggle at all do not take him. quizzes every class, and an extremely hard exam. Take Schall for stats 132 A
Took this course on line in the spring. It was a lot of work in a short amount of time. You only have to go to campus three times for the exams. The rest of the class you can do at home any time you want. All the assignments are there at the beginning and you can work at your own pace as long as you keep track of when they are due and finish them
It just takes hours to complete one chapter of homework. You will get quizzes every class but they are somewhat easy and mostly used to help boost your grade if you do the homework. You will not do good in this class if you dont put in the work. Hes an okay guy who doesnt sugar coat stuff. I would take him again, even though it was difficult.
There is at least one quiz every class and three total exams (including the final), all of them have the same weight in your overall grade, but there are absolutely no make-up's. He doesn't actually teach as much as does a few problems in the book the way he likes to solve them. He also has a horrible, belittling, attitude towards his students.
AWFUL. He is an extremely rude and degrading person. Makes you feel stupid, does not care about the students. Theres a quiz EVERY class and he will not give partial credit. Extremely tough grader. The homework and quizzes do NOT prepare you for the tests at all. His attitude is horrendous. Do yourself a favor and never take this professor.
Taking this class was the biggest mistake of my college career. His way of teaching completely clashed with my way of learning. I graduated with a 3.6 GPA when I could've had at least a 3.8. Take this course at Delta, preferably with Professor Tim Allen. I got 100% on almost every exam and learned to LOVE Statistics.
Sepanski was the worst professor I've ever had. He starts the first day of class by saying "most of you will not pass this class." When I came to him for help because I was struggling he told me I might as well just drop the class. There is at least one quiz every class and the only "teaching" he does is doing sample problems which aren't helpful.

Our class switched from in person to on line midway through the semester. In person, he's a grouch. Always yelling at students fro talking, eating, coming in late, texting, phones ringing, etc. etc. he can't make it through a class without tellin someone they are being rude when really he's the only one who is rude. Then online he's very helpful.
At first I didn't like that we switched to online in the middle but social distancing is perfect for this guy.
Took online. Was well organized. The entire schedule waS there before the semester started. No surprises. Print it out and know all the due dates. HW on Friday. Quizzes on Monday. Just don't miss a day. you hill get the standard message. NO EXTENSIONS. No EXCEPTIONS. Not a class for procrastinafors.
This class was fully online with no zoom meetings. The videos and the book gave you no guidance on what was going to be on the homework. The homework itself took forever to do. The quizzes and tests had problems that you never went over in the book, videos, or homework.
Make sure you do your assignments before the deadline. He is not very helpful when you email him.
You learn by watching videos. The ones on mystatlab are short, boring and useless but count toward your grade. The ones he made him self on canvas are long, boring, and don't count toward your grade. BUT they are very useful. He basically works out the problems on the homework for you. Robotic. Boring. but You can't fail.
Online Class. Professor was so helpful. Send an email question answers immediately. Ask another question and he suggests opening up a conference. He opens homework on screen and goes through whole assignemt with you. Like having your own private tutor who actually knows what they are doing. A Hard class and a lot of work but he works as hard as you
Homework doesn't count for credit & the entire class relies on 4 exams. He does not explain the material and instead just does examples and expects you to pick it up by observation, which sucks because he makes so. many. mistakes, and he goes so quick that if you are even trying to write it down, you won't notice its wrong til you get home.
This class was an absolute mess. He was very inconsistent with grading methods for the final grade and refuses to put grades into canvas, so you must keep track of your own grade throughout the semester. The only grades he does is exams. If you are forced to take this course, I'm sorry for you. I would never take a course with him again.
If you don't consider yourself really good at math, I wouldn't take his class. I worked extremely hard to get an A in his class. I will say it is not impossible but be ready to re teach yourself everything you learn in class. If you miss a day, he doesn't post the notes so make sure to find a friend in the class. Get quizlet plus that's how I an A.
It's not a class. It's a performance. He tries to show how much smarter he is than you by doing as many problems as possible as fast as he can while you scribble down what you can and try to figure it out later. Doesn't teach. Just does problems all class and lots of them.
While the material is somewhat difficult, as long as you come to class and take notes, you should be able to understand the majority. Make sure to study for the tests and just know what youre doing with formulas
I thought I was going to have to retake the course up until the end of the semester. He doesn't put grades in canvas so you have to calculate them yourself. The only grades in the class is the 6 tests so if you do bad on one you are screwed. we started off with a lot of people in the class but we dropped to only 10 because of how hard it was.
Does not work with you when you have covid and cant come to class. Only 5 tests are graded. Does not reply to emails.
He doesn't seem that old but he has two problems that cause problems with his teaching. He can't seem to copy a problem from the book correctly ever. So you can't check the answer and know if it's ever right. He has a cast on his hand and so its hard to read what he rights on the podium. Other than that he explains things pretty well.

He was very unclear most of the time and I had to do a lot of extra work just to vaguely understand the material. He also does not grade homework and almost never goes over it unless you ask him to but still rushes. This was one of the hardest classes I have taken so far.
Extremely detached from both the course and students. Even for an online class I did not hear from the professor at all. I am not even exaggerating when I say that most of the content the student must teach themselves. Some instructional videos were provided but they were next to no help. Their presence as a teacher was severely lacking.
ABSOLUTELY HORRID PROFESSOR AND HORRID PERSON. I had to make up an exam due to being in the hospital. The day I had to make it up I ended up vomiting DURING said exam ALL over myself due to the medical issue that put me in the hospital in the first place. He told me I couldnt retake it and complained that he had to bend over backwards for me.
I bombarded him with email questions all semester. When I said I was sorry for bothering him he said "It's not students who ask questions and succeed who bother me, it's those who don't and fail." Don't be afraid to reach out to him for help. he can be snarky to the people who don't work though.
Prepare to have your grade determined by 4 tests, that's it. With an unknown grading criteria you will most certainly be in the dark about what you missed, especially when the tests are never reviewed in class. Just an indifferent professor overall, do yourself a favor and take Linear Algebra with anyone but him.
Do the homework, it's not graded but honestly it might save you so much. He is pretty average for a math prof at SVSU. If you need help, he'll just send you to the tutoring center. Lectures can be hard to understand, he didn't really explain things in a digestible way. Other than that, if you don't get it, you just don't get it.
Grade is based on quizzes at the start of every class but only a few questions. Lecture consist of taking notes which professor provides clearly. Homework is not mandatory but extremely helpful for the quizzes. Wouldn't recommend if you struggle in math.
The class can be challenging, but if you stay engaged and use helpful study tools like Unstuckstudy, you can succeed. Attend lectures, do the homework, and be proactive in seeking help. While grading can be inconsistent, the professor is willing to assist students who make the effort.
He only grades off exams with no curve and assigns around 50 homework questions each class (not graded). Lectures are just him doing many easy problems and never explaining how to do more complex ones. Prepare to do a lot of learning on your own with piles of problems.
Every class has 2-3 quizzes from the previous class's content. You should be fine if you show up daily and pay attention in class. The grade is based solely on the quizzes, but he is an lenient grader for the most part.
Your grade comes from only quizzes. The quizzes aren't too bad, and they follow a lot of the practice problems he goes over in class. Lectures were sometimes confusing and hard to follow. Do the homework, go to office hours, take notes, and show up to every class. I struggle in math, but he was more than willing to help if you sought after it.
DO NOT TAKE CALC TWO WITH HIM. There are no grades other than 4 exams. The exams are unreasonably long (most people do not finish them) and does not believe in curves. His teaching style is doing problems and expecting you to understand them. Awful experience, I would really try to avoid calc 2 with him.
He does things way differently from what the textbook states, he even stated himself that if you needed to go to the tutoring center you would have to take your notes because they wouldn't understand.
Although I got an A in this class, it was difficult to do so. Be prepared to study for multiple quizzes every day, and you can't retake them if you miss class. He can be rude in class, and you really have to pay attention if you want to be able to retain anything. I don't recommend this professor.
Attendence isn't mandatory, but there is a quiz everyday that you cannot makeup if you miss it. The quizzes are the only grades in the book beside exams, so it's important you don't miss them. This class required A LOT of work to get a good grade. His lecture style was not very helpful, and I had to teach myself all the material. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
DO NOT RECOMMEND!! Your entire grade is from 4 exams only and they're all open ended and extremely time consuming and difficult. It is very hard to study for them as all he does is practice problems the whole lecture. He is also not very approachable for help. Doesn't curve any of the exams or provide extra credit except a difficult test question.
Would not recommend. There are quizzes every day in class that make up a large majority of your grade. So if you miss a couple of days of class, your grade could go down 5-10%. All quizzes/exams are on paper as well. Homework he assigns is similar to the quizzes, so it's important you complete them before every class. Be prepared to teach yourself.
Love the random lore drops. Big on lecturing, but in terms of math, I found it really helpful! Easy class, but there are quizzes almost every class with no makeups, so attendance is crucial.
Great class. Attendance isn't taken, but go to class bc there is almost always a short quiz based on the last class. Homework isn't given out, but do some chapter practice problems so ur prepared for the quiz. No midterm. Final is optional if ur happy with ur grade. Recommend buying physical copy of textbook (cheap used versions on Amazon btw).
Quizzes every single lecture! Doesn't have a canvas page, calculating your grade for the class is entirely independent, and lectures too fast to follow. He doesn't allow quiz remakes, so you must come to class. I only survived this class through self-teaching myself with the textbook. All quizzes are based off the homework that "isn't mandatory."
