EXCELLENT CHEM INSTRUCTOR! If possible start in Gen Chem I with this guy and don't stop there. Yes, you have to work for your grade, but Dr. Shore actually "teaches" his students. He's always organized, always on time, and always available.

probably the best and highest paid chem teacher at occc. he is featured in many of the lab videos and does a great job in explaining everything. the subject itself is pretty challenging but professor shore does his best to help you in any sort of way.

I would highly recommend you get Dr. S**** if he is an available choice. He's VERY knowledgeable about his subject, and prepares you well. If you can, get group lab with him! He is extremely friendly and helpful, and doesn't come off as arrogant by any means.

He's picky about the formal reports. Don't buy the lab book until after the first class. He may just pass everything you need out in class. My class all had to return the books.

The man is a Chemistry god. He managed to guide me through my most hated subject. Very clear in his teaching style. Always willing to help outside of class. Take good notes & make an effort & there is no way you won't succeed in his class. It's important to do the HW. Don't expect an easy ride because he has so many positive comments on here.

Shore is the absolute best. He is very patient and has tons of office hours. He's extreamly good at teaching. Very organized, always prepared and ready for class. Chemistry can be very confusing but Shore explains it very well. Definately recommend Dr. Shore.

Professor Shore is great. He explains the objectives thoroughly. In CHEM I he makes good use of the board, if you do not understand he will go over it again until you do. Good demonstrations. Notes cover what you are expected to know for exams. I would recommend him to anyone needing or wanted to take this class.

Organic Chem 2 is an extremely hard class!! He is a good teacher, but he is very anal on formal reports about including every little detail, and I don't think he really believes in partial credit. His tests are pretty hard and if you mess up any little part of a structure he counts the whole thing wrong!! Good professor, but very challenging!!

Shore was an excellent teacher. He made things very simple to understand. You really do have to attend class, or you will miss out on notes(he does everything on the board-no powerpoint), but he teaches at a good pace that is easy to follow.He seemed to grade loosely on the tests, but you had to work hard to get a good grade. Overall=AWESOME!

Always prepared for class. Chemistry is a difficult subject, but he made it fun for all of us. His tests can be difficult. You really have to study the objectives in the syllabus. He isn't very lenient with grading. He takes off points for small errors, but he is just being fair. I really respect him and I would take chemistry with him again.

Ok, just because this professor has good ratings, don't expect an easy class. This is the hardest class I've ever taken. You will regret missing a class. Your book is not necessary. Save yourself $200 I wish I did! Pay attention in class, avoid texting, & take lots of notes. Read your slides religiously. Utilize office hrs he likes hard workers.

I took Professor Shore for Chemistry and he was the best Math teacher I have ever had. Math has never been my strong point and he really takes his time to go over every little detail and is very helpful if something confuses you. He really cares about his students. I HIGHLY recommend Professor Shore!

Chem I is a notoriously hard class, and taking it with Shore wasn't any easier. He's not a magician, he can't make chemistry suddenly easy for everyone. However, he was very helpful and humble (some professors are so snobish!). I don't want to take anyone but Shore for Chemistry, but not easy tests. BE WARNED.Great teacher, though.

Dr. Shore is one of the best professors at OCCC. He is the nicest person and will go out of his way to help you understand something. His tests are not hard if you STUDY. Organic is so difficult, it is almost unbelievable. Prof. Shore can't change the raw intensity of organic. He's not a magician. He's a great and thoughtful teacher, but his tests are INSANELY difficult. No joke. Taketheclass seriously. Organic EVERY DAY, or you'll fall behind. Do the hw, goto class, and don't blame the Prof. for the difficulty.

Explained everything very thoroughly, but not to the point where everyone was like seriously? Very good personality. And very helpful at any point in the course with anyting that you might need help with. Something that confused me since high school chemistry 1 Dr. Shore clarified it for me in less than 5 minutes. Dr. Shore is the best chemistry teacher at the college. The class is hard in itself, but he makes it as understanding as possible. During his office hours or outside class he is more than willing to help with any questions you may have, and takes the time really help, rather than just show you how to do the problem and get you out the door.

Best Prof. ever!

He needs to slow down. The class had a 72% average by the time Fall 2014 semester ended. His test were brutal. Textbook, labs, and tutors didn't help. He acted like you were always a bother. Took days for him to reply to emails. Chemistry is tough as it is, let alone him being your professor.

I took Chem II this summer. He flies through powerpoints but if you rework the problems in your PP's you'll get it. Sig figs are a must! He'll take little points off here and there. Overall follow the syllabus outline for each chapter, do mastering chem, PP examples and you'll get an A. Oh and he loves vocab questions. Know your vocab!

I really enjoyed Dr. Shore. I've always had trouble with chemistry until I took this class. He is very clear about what to expect on exams and what he expects of you. He tends to give a lot of exams but this also helps you keep up with the material. Be prepared to study and you'll do great.

I took Chem 2 in the summer and Organic Chemistry afterwards because I loved him as a teacher. Neither of these classes are easy and he doesn't make them any easier but he will be in his office to help you if you dont understand something.

Dr. Shore is a great professor! I had him for an 8 week chem II course. He is a tough grader, most of my test points were missed from minor things. I would rather have that than someone who is not actually teaching or does not care. Overall great professor. I would highly recommend him for someone who is struggling with Chem.

The best chem prof at occc. Followed syllabus. Always answered questions effectively and gave additional examples if needed. BEWARE OF LABS. Make sure you're clothing is 100% acceptable or he wont let you do the lab. Very thorough in lectures.

If you leave class confused it is your fault because he will help you as long as you ask. I wish I would of had him for lab too, although he helped with that to when asked him. I love Dr. Shore! I have had him for Gen. Chem 1& 2. I'm upset that he isn't teaching Organic Chem 1 in the fall! He is a great professor. Very quick when it comes to grading and putting exam grades on Moodle. He will explain anything you don't understand and help you one-on-one if you go see him outside of class. He definitely knows his chemistry.

Was really nervous taking chem and Dr. Shore made it a breeze. Prints off his power points and hands them out for lecture, makes practice tests, and gives clear learning/test objectives on syllabus. Is clear during lecture of what will be on the exams. Responds to emails quickly and has a lot of office hours for help if needed.

Dr. Shore was awesome. i had no chem experience but he made it super simple. his power points are very clear. his sample tests are very similar to what is on the test. if you listen and study you will get an A for sure. this class was way easier because of him! 100% take him!

Chemistry is a hard class. And it was hard! But he cracks science jokes to ease the class from time-to-time. He will answer any question you have and never ever make you feel stupid. He will go back down to bare basics to help you understand stuff. He replies to emails and he is always available during his office hours!

This is the professor to choose if youre taking chemistry! He explains everything very well and answers any and all questions. He wants you to understand the material. Everything on the tests were found in the notes and course objectives. The grade is based around your test grades so you have to study. He is a fantastic teacher. Take his class!

Dr. Shore is a super nice professor. He checks your lab calculations before you leave, and tells you what you did wrong so you can correct your answers. He is also very thorough in his lab instructions, and there is NO pre-lab quizzes! Lab is mandatory, but that is because you need a certain amount of points to get a "Pass" in the lab.

He is such a sweet professor! He is very helpful and gives you time on work. Although do not use your phone when he is lecturing he does not tolerate that and do not be late to your lab lecture otherwise he will not let you do the Chem lab that day but you can always make it up. If you are taking a chem lab I highly recommend him!

Only consider Dr. Shore for Chem 1123. One of the few who provides lectures for online classes; really good, helpful lectures & PowerPoint notes for every unit. He is knowledgeable & helpful. Book is a must for online, the homework is only available on the book's website. Make sure you understand & do his sample questions to do well on exams.

Dr. Shore is a great professor. This class was online due to Covid-19 his lecture videos are very informative and if you do not watch them or read the textbook, you will not pass. He gives great feedback on the exams so you have a better understanding on questions that were answered wrong. He also offers to meet in person on campus if needed.

You will have to have MasteringChemistry for the class, but I never touched the textbook. His lecture videos cover everything you need to know for the test. He tends to be long winded in most of them, but they were really good about explaining everything. Gives partial credit when he can, and decent amount of homework.

Professor Shore utilized very long and very detailed lectures along with a PowerPoint presentation. His exams aligned with the lectures, notes and chapter outline/course overview provided in the syllabi. The exams are not easy but if you study and follow along with the lecture videos he does give you the information you will need to for each exam.

I had Dr. Shore for my Chem II lab. His online lab lectures/demonstrations are fantastic, and are helpful to understand what is going on when reading the lab manual. He is a picky but fair grader, especially with significant figures and units of measurement, so you have to be very detail oriented in his lab. I would take another course from him.

Dr. Shore was an AMAZING professor. I took this course online for 8 weeks. You MUST watch ALL lectures. The lectures are detailed and will help you understand the material. Not sure I would have passed with a B without the lectures. I barely used the textbook because his lectures covered everything. He cares about the success of his students.

Chem II is already a hard course, and I felt Dr. Shore made it easier to understand the material. Yes, there is only quizzes and exams to earn a grade, but his lectures cover everything you need to know. He supplies reviews, worksheets, and great PowerPoints.
