HE seems very difficult..but really isnt. Just read the stories. Lectures are really boring. He spends like half an hour analyzing one page of a story. Toooooo boring but hes a pretty cool person. Oh attendance and participation counts.

he is pretty boring, he spends about 1 hr. on each page of whatever you are reading. He is extremely nice though, by about the second class he had memorized all of our names. If you read the text and participate in the class you will do fine. You will write a lot of essays and most of them are in class. Participate a lot and you will pass.

Easy professor but very boring. Lectures tend to get a little dull. He spends too much time on one little detail that is not the most significant one in the text. But overall, the class is easy. He gives a couple of essays throughout the semester which he fairly grades and a final exam of an essay.

Professor Skelley is a great teacher. He explains things clearly and gets to the point. He is also very nice, helpful, and understanding. I strongly reccomend him. His work is pretty easy. The only homework he gave us was to read the stories. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE BOOKS!

Attendance is key, but its a class you will actually want to show up to. Dr.Skelley is extremely helpful, I am very thankful to have had a teacher that not only showed me my mistakes but told me how I can correct them. He takes the time to help each student better their writing skills. I recommend taking his class, especially in the PACE program.

Dr. Skelley is both a kind and fantastic professor. He really wants you to improve your writing and takes care in grading and commenting on all your work, even the journal. This was a perfect class to take with PACE. All essays were written in class and only reading and journal writing were required outside of class. TAKE HIM!

The class was 3 hours(7pm-10pm). Dr. Skelley's presentation of course info in lectures held my attention for 3 hours. I work 50+ hours and was often tired. I looked forward to his comments on my essays. I was interested in polishing my english grammar skills. I left his class with a new found love for english grammar and literature. Thanks

He's cool. He makes you read stories as homework and essay writting is your exams and finals in class. Just a suggestion, please try considering student who takes english as their second language and try to understand what they are going through. Though i still think he is a good professor

Dr. Skelley is an excellent professor. He truly cares about each student and wants to see them improve their writing capabilites. He is not an easy A, he grades fair, but you have to work for your grade. He is always availible to those who ask for help, and gives great comments to improve your essay writing- which is the only "tests" you get.

This teacher is by far my favorite teacher. He is so enthusiastic with whatever he is teaching. He makes a 3hour class seem like it is just a mere hour. Dr. Skelly is a great professor. He enjoys teaching and that's what made the class fun and very informative. He outlines what is expected from you at the beginning of each assignment. My English has improved a great percentage since i took his class. I only hope that he eventually teaches Eng 28 or Eng 101 so i will be able to take him again.

Interesting class. Very important to have the book and do the reading. Prof is big on being on time to class. He is pretty entertaining, very high and good energy. You do need to put effort into the class. But he is very helpful and makes himself available to the students.

Dr. Skelley is a total history nut and it comes off in his teaching. I was lucky enough to be a history fan so I enjoyed it but I was expecting much more english. He is super high energy and fun to be around. As long as you read and show up you should do fine. You do a decent amount of writing so takle good notes because you can use them for tests.

Professor Skelley is probably the greatest ENG101 teacher on campus. It is impossible to have a bad grade in his class because he goes through the materials we need for the essays thoroughly. He cares about his students and know each one by name and is very passionate about everything we read. Take his class! You wont regret it!

Dr. Skelley's class is more of a history class than an English class. It was important to have watched the movie Lincoln in order to understand a lot of his references. We were allowed to use the textbook for essays, and everything was done in class. If you're really in to English, definitely take Skelley.

Attendance is mandatory plus being on time is crucial, these go toward your grade The class is straight forward, all the essays are in class essays so be sure you read the book! Wish there was more time for the essays, I wasn't really a fast essay writer so I did not like the time limit on the that part.

Dr.Skelley is one of the best english professors I've had. Sure he talked a lot about history but he always made it interesting. Attendance is 10% of your grade so go to class, it makes a difference.

When I was placed in Eng. 21, my hs eng. teacher of 3 years couldnt teach at all. Professor SKelley helped me understand my weaknesses when it comes to writing an essay and I find it quite helpful. His methods are easy to understand as well. I am honestly glad I took his class.

Professor was great with the comments he gave when returning the essays. I followed his instruction and gradually became a better writer. Dr. Skelley is a real fair and honest grader. He will help you out as much as he can and provide lots of feedback on every work you turn in. This class is only for those who seek to LEARN and not for the lazy immature. He will assign homework everyday (which is do-able) and also does 2 Midterms and a Final AND a research paper. The history he mentions throughout class is actually very important for your research paper at the end of the semester. He takes the time to be VERY clear. If you have difficulty with the book or papers I recommend you to go to his office hours which is in tutoring center. As non native speaker I had problems with reading Jacobus but I worked hard and I got A. He is very inspirational and a great person.

Yes he talks about history because of the essays we read in the book. I recommend reading before lecture, check the essay on YouTube, and check the essay on sparknotes.
