Mr. Storer almost scared me out of the class the first day because he came on so strong with all the work we have ahead of us and how strict he is about tardiness and being absent.Don't let him fool you! He may look like a mean old football coach, but he's actually very sweet and his class is easy going.He is straight forward, even his grading.

He comes accross as strict but if you do good work, he just might cut you a break. Deffinitely take his class, its fun, easy, and i acctually learned something.

seriously, i had storer for my first semester at dvc, thinking i would just get speech out of the way. but when the class ended, i was bummed that it was over so quickly! he's totally supportive and understanding. i recommend him to anyone who hasnt taken speech yet. he really boosted my confidence when it comes to public speaking.

Steve is an awesome teacher! Work hard and you will succeed. Just cause he is a cool teacher doesn't mean you can slack off! We have 2 written tests and lots of fun/interesting speeches. I never thought that I could have so much fun in a speech class. I put this off to my second to last semester because I HATE giving speeches, but Storer made it so easy to just talk. If the class is good, you'll make a lot of friends. Attendance is definitely mandatory, but come on, it's a speech class. You need to be there! Awesome class!

Best teacher at DVC! There are 3 main speeches - How to ..., informative, and persuasive. A midterm and a final. A couple of impromptu speeches and extra credit: speech night and speech tournament. Do the tournament and he'll adore you.

Mr. Storer is very friendly and easily approachable for any assistance one needs in his course. I've never had a teacher that could influence me to give a course my full attention better than he. If you respect him and his rules and show up to class on the dot, he will deliver you a real growing and learning experience.

Took his class over the summer and the work load was still very light. Three big speeches(5-7mins) that require a simple typed outline, a couple little 1-2min speeches, and two multiple choice tests. Very easy grader and critiques are never harsh. Public speaking is something that makes me very nervous, but the class was quite easy.

class is really easy, the teacher always gives positive comments and also clearly tell the student on the things that we need to improve. he say that he doesn't want to give student a second chance but he actually does. he is very strict on your attendance. missed 2 of his class you are dropped!

His class is really enjoyable. I recommend him as a teacher; especially for over the summer. I wouldn't say his class is per-say "easy" however. Very nice and approachable, he will help you get your public speaking skills perfect by the end of the class. He encourages you to do the speech tournament. He maybe intimidating the first few days but just to weed out all the people who think they can get by with out attending class. After that as long as you do the work you will be golden.

Before this class I was trying to avoid taking it at all costs because I literally hated public speaking. His interpersonal communication class is more laid-back than his public speaking class. He's less scary, very humorous, and understanding guy. This class is more as a group work than his lecture. However, I wish he can give us more scenarios or role plays.

I just took him and i can honestly say he is a good teacher a bit too strick especially with attendance, a couple people got kicked out for lateness, but i overall enjoyed the class. Side note: he WILL reprimand you for talking in class and using your cellphone's so watch it.

On the first day of class, he will firmly mention his central point of how he does not want students to be late because after class begins, he will lock the door and late students will be marked as absent. This is a fact, so be on time! Over all he is a great professor and he will make public speaking fun, easy and doable for every students.

Unlike most speaking classes Storer makes this class fun and enjoyable. There isn''t much of a workload. Only two exams and half a dozen speeches. While speaking is tough for many he''ll ease you right into it and make sure you feel comfortable with your classmates. Even if you''re not a good speaker show some enthusiasm and you''ll be fine.

Professor Storer's speech class was amazing!! For someone who hates public speaking, he offered a lot of help and also had TA's that made developing speeches and presenting much easier. You did have to put in effort in order to be successful but it is definitely doable.

If your afraid of public speaking this class is for you. Great atmosphere and Storer gives great feedback. You have to go to class and give 3 major speeches and a few short speeches but overall its do able. He is very clear what he expects just follow the outline you'll do great. Hes a great guy and fun.

Professor Storer has a very stern exterior but is a giant teddy bear on the inside. He plans a lot of presentations, some are short while others are longer but they help you a lot. At the start of the semester I thought I made a mistake taking his class. I wasn't allowed inclass on day 2 'cause I was 5min late due to unannounced construction. I was pissed. But after that the professor grew on me. He was caring and always asked how I was feeling when I wasn't having good days. Gave fantastic feedback on speeches. And is funny!

Attendance is very important in this class. Both showing up and doing so on time. Straight forward on what he expects from the student from the start. He is somewhat of a tough grader, but he really gives good feedback to help you improve and become a better speaker. Feedback from him and class help you become comfortable, so participate in class.

Professor Storer is a great teacher. Outlines are key to success in this class. I failed to follow the outline format, however Storer gave plenty of options to improve my grade and was very patient ("help me to help you"). The 2 tests are difficult and require study prep. You will find a huge improvement to your speeches if you take this class

A great teacher and a great guy. He lectures very little in order to make the most time for student speeches in front of the class. We did one how-to, informative, and persuasive, and two short improv speeches. There are few tests, and you study for those by reading the book. Very encouraging and helpful, tough but fair. I took Storer's class Spring 2018, I came in shy but went on to win 2nd place at the DVC intramural tournament due to his class. He loves to teach and encourages you to be the best, to grow and succeed, and his class reflects that. You have to put in work but he is a rare professor that cares, honestly one of the best profs i've ever had. High rec.

Professor Storer took time outside of class to help me with things I was struggling with in his class. Inside the classroom he is energetic and involves everyone in class discussions. Before this class I was uncomfortable with public speaking but Professor Storer helped me become more confident and I feel ready for any future public speaking now.

Storer is a professor who truly sets you up for success but you have to work for it. This is no easy A. You need to attend each class and not be late. If you miss a day, you lose points. You get 2 exams, 3 big speeches and a couple of small ones. He is a tough grader, but is clear in his grading criteria

Wonderful professor!! Easy class if you are okay with being honestly graded. Storer is an my best professor so far! He is clear with what he expects, and transitioning to online was with no single problem. Definitely recommending his class!! Very quick to grade/respond and show how much he cares and respects each student. Great lectures by him. Every comment from him made me a 100% better speaker, inspirational professor!

One of the best professors I have ever had. Storer is super chill and really cares about his students. I took his Comm120 class online and loved it. We had a couple speeches throughout the semester that we sent in, meaning you dont speech directly to your classmates. He gives you plenty of time to finish work and gives great feedback. Easy A :)

Had his class online for the spring semester and I loved it. He really cares about his students and their successes. He does grade fairly, so as long as you follow his guidelines and put in the work, you will get a good grade. Definitely go to his office house too if you want feedback on your speeches and to improve your public speaking.

Took his Public Speaking course (formatted as a hybrid course). Professor Storer rocks, he's super kind and caring as well as understanding. He treats students as his equals, not people that are below him or lesser in some way. Essentially, every student is treated casually as one of his friends. Overall, if you can take a class with him, do it.

when I say this man is my all-time fav prof at DVC, I mean it. He genuinely tries to build a relationship with his students, and we are still very good friends to today. Professor Storer is a very straight forward man, very old school. He does not like drama at all like a said very old school, as long as you show up for your speeches and PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR ANNOUNCEMENTS!! You will do great in this class. Overall a very caring teacher and wants to see his students be successful.

He's a tough but good teacher, and he is strict with grading especially for going over time. Be on top of looking at canvas and following the outlines as much as possible. 3 major speeches, 4 short speeches, 9 quizzes 2 tests. Tests are worth a good amount, and they're easy if you read the chapters thoroughly. Extra credit is worth almost nothing.

He seems to look like he will be pretty strict during the beginning, but at the end of your classes, he will become your favorite professor.He knew what he was doing; he separated our class into two groups and also pointed out every student in a way that the student felt comfortable during the coursework.

Mr. Storer is an amazing teacher! At first he seems intimidating but he's honestly a really great guy. Provides really good feedback for speeches, and doesn't judge harshly at all. He cares a lot about the students, and when I lost a family member and missed a speech contest, he was really nice and understanding. He's funny and conversational :)

Very good feel for what he's doing, can tell he comes from lots of great experience. Very responsive and understanding to all students, former basketball player/coach, so he's very understanding of former or current athletes. Really great guy, just wants to help anyone who wants to get better and isn't afraid to push you out of your comfort zone.

Professor Storer is one of the most amazing, caring, hilarious, and motivating professors I've gotten the chance to work alongside both as a college student working towards her Associate for Transfer Degree and as his T.A. for 4 and a half consecutive years!! My advice to any student who attends DVC's Pleasant Hill Campus take him immediately!

Storer is a great professor and pushes his students to succeed. The class seems daunting at first, but as long as you put in the effort and ask for help when needed, you will do well. There are three major speeches, two exams, short online speech videos, and short online quizzes based on readings. Extra credit is offered as well. Highly recommend!

Don't miss out on my guy Storer. Although he's intimidating at first, he gets easier deeper into the semester. I almost quit, but I'm glad I didn't. It's NOT an easy A, but you can do it if you put in enough effort. The speech outline is straightforward and you can choose any topic. The 2 tests are kinda weird tho, make sure to read chapters.

Professor Storer is amazing! He gives good feed back and allows us to have input in the class conversations. If we have a theory we don't completely agree with, he doesn't completely shuts us down and asks what we think about it! He really cares about his students. It's crazy to say but he's also a great communicator! 10/10 would recommend!

If you think this class will be easy because he has a good rating, think again. Take another class that you can pass without pushing yourself, but this is NOT one of them. Can you handle criticism? Are you prepared to earn a nickname for some minor mistake? God forbid you are late. That being said, Storer is the best professor at DVC/a great guy.

Work you ass off and you can do well. I put in a lot of effort on all my speeches, just to receive a B when in any other class it would be an A+. Think Terence Fletcher, but for a speech class. He will tear you down and rebuild you in his own image. He's a tough grader, hard-ass, but you will learn a lot. Best DVC professor, he cares and helps you.

At least you will know why, as he will nit pick every minor mistake you make in front of the whole class! He's a relentless critic and will put you on the spot. Hard grader, but if you work for it you can get an A. Im in his comm 120 class and the exams have been the hardest, but those come directly from the textbook. Super funny guy and Im glad I took his class over other professors.

Storer is great! I have taken multiple of his comm classes including C100,128, and I TA for him. Although he may seem intimidating it is only because he truly cares about his students and wants to see everyone succeed.
