new teacher?? dont know but would love to see if anyones had him before
He is a new teacher at Delta he teaches at Stanislaus too. He likes his subject, lectures are boring but gives alot of info on test. uses lec & Text for tests. Great study guides, will answer questions from students. If you have a lab with him thats best place to ask ?'s and he will give you the answers. He has mentioned Anatomy is harder.
I am still in his class and I highly recommend this teacher. He is very helpful and gives awesome study guides for his exams. As long as you take the class serious and do the work then there is a good chance you will pass. I'm hoping that he teaches biology and physiology!
His lectures are incredibly boring, but you dont even have to go to them. He doesnt take attendance in lecture and he talks really monotone, so its boring. Lab is really interesting and he is a lot of help!If you study, and do all the labs, you will be fine.
His lectures are really boring. He uses lecture slides that you can download off of the internet and they're really useful during exams and he does give really good study guides. He's really helpful during labs and really knows his stuff. I would recommend him to my friends. Just show up and actually try to learn and you'll do well.
I can't tell you how much I regret taking this class. Telleen is a nice guy, but he's such a sucky teacher. He's super smart but he's bad at explaining things. I'm not a bio major, so I should have stuck with Bio 11 but i took his core bio class which is hard. His lectures are long and boring and I found his study guides relatively useless.
Tellen is a nice guy. But thats about it. He is a bad teacher. Gives lecture slides on the internet, on when you go to class he reads lectures right from the slides and talks monotone. He does give you a study guide for exams but doesn't put that info on the tests.
I hated this class. It took up so much of my time! His study guides sucked, he grades tough. I tried and got a D. He talks very dry and monotone. He teaches until the last minute. I never missed a day and still couldn't keep up. Opt for a different bio teacher if you find sciences complicated.
Not the easiest class to pass but with a lot of hard work, you will pass. I had a HORRIBLE study habit prior to taking his class. The key is make the most out of it, download his lectures and organize a study group.
he is boring, he doesnt explain anything at all. he reads exactly whats on the slides. he mumbles to himself, talks softly and you cant understand him.
Monotone in lecture, teachers class as though we are in upper division Bio class, unorganized, lecture is not what will appear on the test, test study guides are not what appears on the test. You might as well study everything word for word and text for text if you want to pass.
Dr. Telleen is a good professor; if you are willing to put in TIME studying, you'll do well. It goes fast - so you have to work hard to keep up, he can't do it for you. He's very helpful - answers questions & opens the lab for studying before tests. He's very smart - not dynamic - but he he wants us to succeed AND know the material.
If you are planning on take Anatomy and Physio..you will be very prepared for them after you take Dr. Telleen for Bio. 11. His lectures are a bit boring..but his study guides are awesome..You will study alot..but it pays off. I am passing Anatomy with an A because Dr. Teleen prepared me for it. Highly recommend him..but you must do the work.
Overall he is a good teacher. He know's his subject really well and is always willing to help. His slides are very helpful. Most of the stuff on the test are from the slides (some from his handouts and lecture). Yhea his lectures can be a little boring but take notes and try to pay attention cause some of the examples he gives will be on the test.
This was a hard class. His study guides were HUGE and reflected little of what was on the test. He does open up the lab for studying before the exams which you will need for sure if you want to pass. Im a straight A student and I got a C in this class.
Telleen is a nice guy but his "teaching" skills are lacking. You're basically on your own at lab, so teach yourself. His lab tests are ridiculoustly hard! His pass rate is 10% and he's proud of that. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU CAN HELP IT!!
Dr.T is an amazing professor. I had the pleasure to learn from him. His class was intimidating at first because I never had taken any bio courses, even in high school. But he guided me through it and I got a B. If it wasn't for Dr.T I would have not gotten an A in human anatomy. His class will prepare you for your bio courses at Delta College.
I am currently taking anatomy with him and I have to say that he does give study guide for both his lecture and lab test. For lecture a lot of what he puts on the study guides isn't on the test. In lab he won't help you unless you ask and even then he won't stick around long he just likes to go on his computer. Nice person but not a very good teach
This class is not easy. However, still possible to get an A,depending on how much effort you put into the class. His lectures suck. The lab part of your grade is easy. There are 5 exams. Some where alright and some were very hard. Research paper is simple. However, teacher is very unorganized and has favorites Take him over all the other phsyio teachers.
This professor is extremely unorganized and very unfair. He has his favorite students and if you are not one of them, then you are going to have an extremely hard time getting a passing grade. His lectures are unorganized, unclear and useless. I cannot tell you the details of his favoritism here for fear of deletion. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
This class is very possible to pass. Like the rest of the instructors at delta, Telleen does have his favorites. However, I took physio with Adamson for the first time..and all I have to say is professor Telleen is way more lenient and has an easier grading system!Still a HARD class however.
I hate this guy.I like Biology, but when he teaches it,it's so boring with his monotone voice!I tried really hard in his class and he gave me an F!I talked to him about it and he kept saying,"well if you say you tried hard then it would've shown." He wouldn't reason with me and he gives poor unorganized grading.he sucks!
BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE! I would never take this teacher, he is very unfair, has his favorites, and has an excuse for everything. Very LAZY TEACHER! plays favorites. If you want a good Bio-32 teacher Go to another College besides Delta College and Never take this guy or else you are wasting your TIME AND MONEY! BEWARE!!!!!!!!!
BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE! I would never take this teacher! Has an excuse for everything. Very LAZY TEACHER! plays favorites. If you want a good Bio-32 teacher Go to another College besides Delta College and Never take this guy or else you are wasting your TIME AND MONEY! BEWARE!!!!!!!!!
He knows the material very well but has no teaching skills. If you are his favorite you can make it. Otherwise, try to find an alternative.
A truly gifted professor. He is not easy. He expects the student to put forth the effort in order to get the grade desired. This is not high school...A's are not handed to you. They must be earned. Dr. Telleen wants his students to succeed and therefore pushes you to be a better student. I would highly recommend him if you honestly want to learn.
Telleen is awesome! He's just a very tough teacher who wants to see his students succeed through mastering the subject. He tells u that in order to pass his class, don't think of it as a stepping stone because that'll cause you to fail. He's right, He even tells u to form study groups, he's right again. This guy wants to see u succeed, DO IT NOW
Nice guy... VERY HARD CLASS! Lecture tests very tough, labs are all memorization. I would pretty much memorize his lecture notes-and still had a tough time with lecture tests. The average in my class was a high D. There was only two A's!
He's a very good teacher, knows his stuff. He will help you out with anything and is very understanding. I think the best thing about him is that his ego does not get in the way of his teaching like many can. I'm going to take him for physio if I can. Highly recommened over other teachers at delta!
Awesome instructor, but is a hard grader! A 79.4% will NOT earn you a B, it will earn you a C, as if you earned a 70%. The book is helpful, but taking pictures of the stuff in lab and memorizing every bit, as well as histology, will earn you a good grade.
Dr. T is the hardest teacher i have ever taken in my entire life. He wants u 2 learn, breath, and eat the material! His tests are extremley difficult!. He will tell u @ the beggining that he will try and confuse u w/ his multiple choice ?'s. They will all seem right but only 1 is correct...43 students @ beggining, but Only 18 succeeded! Goooood luck
I thought Telleen was a better alternative physio teacher compared to the others at Delta and all I have to say is transfer. He couldn't care less if you passed or failed unless you were one of his favorites. The day of our final he adjusted some test scores for a passing grade but failed another student that was shy of passing by a few points.
Tough class, you HAVE to put in a lot of study time to ACE the class. Take pics to learn all the parts of the models, go to lab for extra study time with the models. As long as you know the study guide & structures list, you will ACE the exams. He offers extra credit which helps bring up your grade. He likes serious/hard working students.
Of all the physiology teachers at Delta, Telleen is the best. It is a very hard class, lots of reading and study groups in order to pass his lecture exams, which are tricky. He is very knowledgeable and helpful as long as you ask for help when you need it. He will not hold your hand through this course, be prepared to learn a lot on your own.
Hardest teacher I ever had! His voice is monotone and boring. He really doesn't care about his students at all. DO NOT TAKE HIM! For the structures list he gives you like 300 words to memorize. Only 62 are on the test. Pointless.
This is the most challenging class I've ever had!ONE WORD-COMMUNICATION!!BUG THE CRAP OUT OF HIM IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, PAY FOR TUTORING IF YOU HAVE TO! Dr. Telleen does not have favorites. There are students who build a relationship and those who don't, but I assure you he does not adjust grades of some without curving the entire test or class.
Dr. T is great! Not an easy class, HOURS & HOURS of studying! I'd get a tutor, someone who has taken him before-so you'll be prepared for the way he tests. Build a relationship with him, YOU have to ask the questions if you don't understand. ASK ASK ASK! He's very helpful & clear one on one. You'll walk knowing the subject if you keep up with him.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! He is the worst teacher i ever had. Not clear at all. He doesnt teach he sit in front of the class looken at his computer while the class teaches each other. his test are not clear. Not easy to approach he makes you seem stuiped
I HATED this class. I love bio and am a science major but all this guy wants you to do is cram as much memorization as you can into your brain and regurgitate it on a test! He cares little about the success of his students. I went up to ask him for help a few times and he spoke to me like he thought I was stupid. Everything is on your own and he does not even interact during lab.
He never offered help during labs nor did he explain the labs well. His voice is like that of the Clear Eyes guy (monotone and boring). Would go off on different tangents when you ask a simple question. I ended up dropping and kept in touch with a student who stayed she said only 2 of the 30 people that started out in the class stayed.
DON'T TAKE THIS INSTRUCTOR! Doesn't help out in lab, just sits down staring at his laptop. When you ask him a question, he expects U to find the answer even though u have exhausted all resources. He told the class he will test u in a way u have NEVER learned & he did. We never learned it because he didn't teach it. Research paper=rediculous.
This class was useless. In lab, you cram your head full of hundreds of terms and then you regurgitate them onto your test. In lecture he reads to you from powerpoints, occassionally adding a little extra, but really you have to remember 4 chapters worth of content on top of your anatomy terms from lab, all in 2 weeks. There has to be a smarter way
This class is hard but Teleen is a great teacher ask him lots of questions he is happy to help! He will keep talking to you until it makes sense to you. He gives study guides, i recommend doing a study group and split the questions up. As long as you do the research paper/presentation and write in journal automatic A! its like 2 free tests!
I could tell you my horror story but why, my advice is if you have to take him be prepared by reading the entire chapters before class, be a quick learner and a self starter. Be able to do things on your own and dont ask alot of questions. He makes you feel stupid. Just be prepared to teach yourself and you will do fine. Pre read every chapter!!!
AMAZING teacher! was at class 2-3 hours before it started. Will sit with you until you get it. Physio isn't an easy subject. So if you think you're coming in to put a few hours in you're wrong! This class will own you. You want a good grade put in the time & stop blaming the teacher. This guy LOVES his job and it shows!
for physio, deinately an OK instructor. He has is favorites and loves to start compitition wars among the students. Let's you struggle through lab and when you ask him a question, be prepared for a 30 minute discussion on everything except your original question. Answers you with a ton of questions. Very hard tests, pay attention to lab.
Not helpful AT ALL!!
If you want to pass, you have to study for hours on end, everyday. Most of the people who take is class, drop it. You have two weeks to memorize a list of hundreds of anatomical features and understand how they work. He will make you feel stupid if you ask him questions. Take someone else, you cant afford the W or F if you want to get into nursing
Super Difficult. Memorize 200+ words in two weeks. Dr. Telleen is a nice guy, he is very smart and know's what he is talking about. However, the amount of info he wants you to know in a short period is almost impossible. Great instructor, unrealistic goals. However, he is the only anatomy teacher that goes to Mountain House. Good Luck!
Take this class if you are a student that prefers to study independently. He wasn't at all interactive with his students. His tests were very tricky. The research paper was absurd. Even though I passed his class, I suggest people to take him with caution! Good luck.
Pay attention on the first day when he says you need to spend all of your waking hours on this class. It's true. You have hundreds of structures to memorize every 2 weeks (on your own), on top of the lecture stuff, which deals with functions of the structures in the various organ systems. The one good thing is the lecture podcasts.
Dr Tellen wants his students to work hard. But he also do not give his students the help. He expects you to know all your stuff as if your a doctor or Nurse already. I feel that he is not welcoming at ALL!! He does not interact with his students or class.Be prepared to not have ANYTHING else to do but study and hope you pass!!!
He's a great guy. But loves to see students fail...sorry but that's the truth. He does nothing to help the student succeed, it's a hard class but other professors actually attempt teaching something he does not!
Do not take this guy. Only human anatomy teacher at mountain house. This guy expects you to teach yourself, no multiple choice. Like him personally but as a teacher, he definitely does not like his job.
He is extremely helpful when you make the effort to ask him for help. He gives a lot of resources for students on Etudes, and is very open to discussions about study strategies He doesn't pretend to be someone he is not, like other "good" professors try to do. He is excellent, and if you study, you PASS.
I feel like he does not care if his students pass his class. He knows we need this class to pursue any degree, and he doesn't make it any easier for us. We do the work by ourselves, and he doesn't even grade our labs or tests. (which we don't really do any REAL labs). JUST DON'T TAKE HIM. HORRIBLE. NEEDS TO NOT TEACH ANYMORE.
Dr. Telleen has unrealistic expectations for his students. It is all about memorization, Have to study daily for hours because there is a lot of inf. to take in for all the exams. This class will drain you. EXTREMELY hard.I recommend taking another teacher if possible. Passing rate for this class is very low.
2 Lab Exams(4-6 questions, Pass or F), 4 Lecture Exams(2 essays, 40 MC, 2-3 extra credit questions), Lab Journal(MUST CREATE OWN EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN), Research Paper(Your choice, 5-7 min oral). ALL LECTURES ONLINE; must WRITE SPECIFIC QUESTION in lecture or WILL NOT provide a lecture. Answers Q with Q. Not enough examples & reads right off slides.
If you're thinking of taking any of this professors classes, save the money and teach yourself from Google/YouTube. He spends his lecture and lab periods playing on his computer expecting you to teach yourself. His automated grading system incorrectly grades assignments, which he acknowledges, but refuses to correctly re-grade and grant credit.
You have to work hard in this class but form a study group and practice and you can pass. Read the book and be sure to listen to all lectures. Hard class but worth it you learn alot. Must be willing to put in effort he can not spoon feed you in this class.
Don't be discourage by negative comments. Not a bad professor and will walk you through your questions. Gives out study guides and potential essays on exam. Willing to go over essays with you in advance. Labs, paper, and presentation are free points if you follow directions. He does curve if exam avg is bad and he tweak overall grades at the end.
Definitely not an easy class but he is helpful, you just have to be willing to ask. Straight forward class, he lays out what you need to do to succeed in his class after that it is up to you to put in the time and effort to pass and get a good grade. Definitely recommend taking this class with Dr. Telleen.
Really any anatomy or physio class taught right is hard. Its all memorization and if you ask for help he will give it but the memorizing is up to you. Learn study skills, make flashcards, look up vids on YouTube. I passed both A&P with a B so its very possible and I didn't study nearly as hard as I should have. Nursing school is harder so suck up.
Lol the reason i havent given this instructor a rating yet is because im still deciding to take him during the fall 2014 semester or not.. based on the reviews im not even gonna add his bio 31 anatomy class on my schedule.. dont wanna jeopardize my Nursing career based on this dudes grading skill... Lol thanks for the reviews ppl ;)
This class was hard, but you have to put in the time to pass and really practice. If you dont you are almost guaranteed to fail. He gives you all the information you need to learn about and lectures are online. Hes a good teacher im going back to him for physio.
I had been avoiding this Prof. for years when I finally had no choice but to take him for A&P... But I realized if you do all your work, listen to his directions and ask for help you WILL be successful. (I would know!)NOTE: He's a FAN of those who make an effort to succeed and will help you get there as long as you help yourself and prove to do so.
This is by far the hardest class I have taken and Delta college. If you want to succeed in this class, you have to be motivated, have patients, dedication, be involved in lab, study the power points hours on end, review book for any questions about power points. Push you self to try hard. Not easy, hard work will pay off. I got an "A" :).
I do not recommend anyone to take this class with Steven Telleen. Unfortunately, most of us have no choice but to take this class because he is the only one who teaches Bio 32 at the campus. He is the toughest grader. The questions on the tests are from outer space and have nothing to do with what you study. Most students fail in his class.
This class makes you WORK. Telleen is a great guy regardless of what others say. He is always available to help and answer questions. The subject matter is difficult and if you aren't there to pass, don't bother. He likes when students show they are trying and involved and he will work with you you just have to show you are trying!
This is the most interesting class I've ever taken. It's VERY possible to get an A in this class and really no reason to not get a B. The material is hard no matter who you take at delta, this guy is your best bet. His lectures are online, use that to your advantage to listen all the time! ASK IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, HE WILL GIVE YOU THE ANSWERS.
Great teacher and is willing to help as long as you are willing to ask. Lectures are long, but they are on iTunes so you can listen to them whenever. Toughest class I have taken, test's are hard, but if you prepare the essay q's before the tests he will look over them and give you feedback so that you can get the full 20 points. Read the book.
He is up front with everyone in the beginning. If you study then you will be fine. This is not an easy class but very enjoyable. If you are going to nursing school I would recommend him for both Anatomy and Physiology. He will go over your test with you to see where you need to studyimprove on. He will help those who help themselves.
He does nothing. You have to teach yourself and hope to pass. You have to live this class and do nothing else yo pass.
I regret that I took this class with this professor... He is not teaching you anything, and he tells you at the biggining of the class that you are going to study by yourself.. If that is the case then isn't it better to make this as an online class? Why we should come to the class, spend gas, and buy a parking permit? Please, don't take him!
Horrible professor. I asked a question & he responded with "don't you have a book". He is paid to unlock the door. No interaction, multiple choice test answers are all right but one is "best". No personality. Take it with anyone but him if you value your GPA or need to get into a special program. I'm repeating & driving an hour away to avoid him
Dr. Telleen is a great professor. He is straightforward at the beginning of the semester and lays it all out. He provides a lot of resources for you to succeed and its up to you if you use them or not. Do the online lab assessments, study the structures, and go over the PPT slides daily until the day of the exam. Repetition is key in this class.
Answer every question, excellent teacher......
If you are hardworking, motivated, and have a goal you need to reach, you will be fine. You need to give effort consistently throughout the whole semester in order for that A or B. There are 2 lab exams (they're okay), 4 lecture exams (they suck), a paper (basically free points), and a lab journal that you work on throughout the semester.
I took Professor Teller's Anatomy class. He makes you work hard, it's exhausting, and you have to do a lot of studying on your own, but if you commit to learning and working hard, he will give you the feedback and resources needed to succeed. Stay on top of everything from the beginning, write essays in advance, and don't give up. You'll be fine!
I am dropping this class because he does not teach anything you have to be your own teacher. Acts as if everyone knows exactly what they are doing. I drove half an hour for this class and he just sits there in lab, was rude when I asked a question. Might as well just be an online course! I would never again take this class with him.
Lectures are horrible with no visuals. Feels like hours of studying every day cannot get you an A unless, like some student in this class, you have friends that took class previous semester and take photo of lecture exam to share. Rare for honest hard work to get an A here. Do NOT recommend this instructor.
He knows his stuff. Lectures can be tedious, but delivery is direct and everything you need. Awful reviews are from students who didn't take the class seriously, skipped lecture (where he gives tons of exam answers), and/or did not put in the study time. He tells you upfront that he can't put the material in your head; you need to help yourself.
horrible teacher. ruined my whole mindset of wanting to be a nurse. wasted an hour of a drive to go to this class. he does not care about his students and whether or not they pass. shows attitude and is rude when asked any question. he shouldnt even be certified to be a teacher. this should just be an online course not like he really helps or teach
His teaching is the worst. His tests are the hardest. I gave a hundred and ten percent in studying and still failed. No homework, grades depend on test.
Do the work and know how to study and you will pass. He lays everything out before the semester starts. If you dont know something, ask and he'll tell you. I enjoyed the accelerated pace and was challenged to do the work. Would recommend this to those we arent afraid of hard work!
Had to drop the class. I spent all day, everyday studying but still failed the first lecture & lab exam. The only thing you're graded on is the exams. 40/62 q's are multiple choice for lecture exam & ALL (62) of the q's for lab exam are answers you have to come up with, no word bank or anything. I think he's a smart guy, but not a great teacher.
I should have taken the negative reviews more seriously. Here I stand, at the end of a tough semester, defeated. I put in tons of study time but his grade is based only on 4 exams, so no chance to redeem yourself. You'd think he'd offer some e.c. in the form of online hw or anything but no. Do not take him. You've been warned.
Got to be one of the worst professor I've taken. Lectures were long. He stands in front and lectures with no PowerPoint slides. At the end of the semester about only 10 people showed up to lecture. Labs were the worst. Some days he'll waste most of the lab time watching videos. Study guide given but you have to research for answers, not on slides.
Dr. Telleen has a specific approach that makes you learn the information. Most people want an easy Anatomy class, and Anatomy is far from an easy A. However I know that I will remember the information and be able to apply it in the future with ease.
Worst professor. Lectures were long/prerecorded w/him constantly burping, drink in your ear, phone ringing, child crying in the background making it hard to list. He stands in front of the class w/ no PP/speaks to the board & mumbles. Students stopped attending his class. You have teach yourself. Beware!
