Very interested in current affairs.. But overall easy class... :)
Very nice teacher. Easy class.
worst professor ever. you won't learn anything from him. don't waste your time.
Wow, he is soooo bad. Worst in Valley College.
Mr. Kaller is a very laid back, cool guy. He doesn't care if you come to class or not and you get to use book, notes, and work with people on the tests. He talks about real life issues and I would recommend him to anyone wanting to take this class.
Be prepared to teach yourself out of the book. He doesn't check the homework. He gives only two exams and the final isn't cummulative. Exams are open book, open notes, and with a partner or two. You can get away with learning nothing but still get an A in the class. He talks about current events for the first hour of each class.
Wonderful Professor!
Awful. Talked all about his political views. Didn't learn anything from this man. Poor show Valley College.
Useless professor. Does not lecture on the material. He will waste your time venting his political views. You will not learn anything from this guy. Plan on self study by reading the book and doing the homework on your own. If you're here to learn, don't waste your time with this guy.
Fantastic teacher, one of the best I have taken at LAVC. I will say he doesnt teach directly off the book. So if your ONLY loking for lecture material for books and tests, not on accounting as a practice, business operations of ac and experience in accounting this class isnt for you. He is funny, good lecturer. Study book and HW, not lecture notes.
He is one of the best in LAVC.
Great instructor!!!.
Excellent teacher, very clear in his lectures and assignments.. I would recommend this instructor to anyone who plan to take his classes.
This instructor is very clear in his lectures, very humble, and understanding teacher. The best LAVC could ever offer. Great personality!!.
This instructor is very funny, which makes you relaxed and able to understand better. I would take his class again and recommend him to all.
Professor Kaller cares about his students and always want to make sure everyone is on the same page. If a question is asked, he explained to the fullest and always make sure you understand before he moves on.
He is very informative and provide additional material when necessary. Definitely one of the best at LAVC!.
Prof. Kaller wants his students to succeed and make sure that everyone understand before going to the next chapter.
Professor Kaller, is one of a kind! Took him for a 5 week summer session and it was a fun class with a lot of participation. The book is required for homework and exams. Exams were semi tough but he does allow open notes and book for additional help. I say he's a fair grader, take him if you can.
If you want to learn accounting, do yourself a favor and take someone else. He does not teach. never used the book so do not buy. Be prepared to teach yourself. Cheeg explains solutions much better.
His lectures consisted of his political views and personal troubles. Didnt learn anything cost accounting related from him and I had to learn the material by myself. Unfortunately the grading was based on the midterm and final only, which by the way were not easy.
Lectures consist of talking about current events/political views as if it were some late night talk show. First week or so started great, but it was all downhill from there. There's "hw" and a midterm/final that you take with a partner?! Falls behind schedule. Not sure how Valley approves, but this guy committed perjury (False credentials!) Search!
Appreciated how he used current events and situations to illustrate their impact on costing managerial accounting. Encourage the class to be involved.
He is the best Professor ever that I have ever have. Very caring professor.
Teaches the class at a "masters" level and provides real life personal/professional experiences that give a level of depth to the lessons in the textbook.
Easy class, but you have to learn by yourself. He requires the book but it is not necessary. In short if you really want to learn how to run payroll do not take him. If you want to just pass the class then answer is yes.
ACC 18. There is a quiz before each chapter, make sure you read the chapters as indicated on the syllabus. Quizzes are easy. No tricky questions. There is a payroll project that you need to submit at the end of the class. Overall the professor makes the class so easy to get an A, if you don't get an A you didn't really try!
Took him for payroll accounting. He is a good guy but he did go off topic quite a few times during the semester. Pretty much just read the chapters youre supposed to read and you should be good. Lectures are really long but he is a good lecturer and the 3 hours seem to go by really fast.
He will teach you what you need to know about payroll in the real world and will also include some human resource basics into his lectures. There is homework after every chapter, an occasional pop quiz, a payroll project, and a final test. Overall it was a good class. Hes'a funny guy and really likes to talk politics lol.
Great Class! Prof. Kaller's lectures are fun. He explains the mechanics of payroll clearly and brings real world experience into lectures. Homework is manageable and Chapter tests are emailed to class a week before. Payroll Project is labor intensive, but manageable. Do not delay! Final is open book. You need to have read the material to pass.
It is very interesting, productive and useful class . I liked to do the Payroll Project, this project has helped me understand what Payroll is. Amazing professor!
I liked this class, it was very useful for me, especially, payroll project. Professor is a very kind and funny.
Excellent Prof and class-you will not regret taking it and learn a lot! Prof Kaller ties together payroll accounting, Human Resources, and how politics and the economy affect not just businesses but also payroll. There is a semester long hands-on Payroll Project which gives students a chance to apply all their accounting and payroll knowledge.
Professor Kaller has a huge payroll and life experience and great sense of humor. Subject itself is not easy unless you work in that field. There are non graded quizzes almost every week, just about five questions, and one project. Final is heavy but it is open book and notes.
Wonderful professor, you read the chapter, come prepared for class and its an easy A! Homework, achievement tests and quizzes are all taken from the book and as long as you know your material, its super easy! Kaller is awesome, talks to you at your level, makes you feel comfortable to ask questions and makes participating in class second nature
He is great professor, I enjoyed the class very much. He is amazing lecturer, and I learned everything about payroll. It's not difficult class.
He knows what he is doing. He has the knowledge and the class was super easy!
His classes are very entertaining. Not only we do the subject he shares stories to keep things interesting and I throughly enjoy it. Thanks professor.
if you do your part u will pass.
Professor Kaller is highly knowledgeable and makes thing clear for everybody in the class. I would recommend other students to take his class.
I enjoyed the class. Very fair and knowledegable.
He wants you to learn. Your effort matters to him. Do the work, as questions, want to learn and you'll get an A.
Great professor! Gives real life lessons, interesting stories, very knowledgeable and funny. Just show up, read your chapter, listen, ask questions, do your homework, you know, do what you're supposed do.
He is a great professor. I enjoyed his class. His lectures are very informative and related to real life accounting and business activities. He wants the students to read the text book and work with text book's problems.
Extremely nice and knowledgeable professor. He really cares about you learning the material and is always available for questions. He assigns homework but you don't turn it in. You'll have six achievement tests and one final payroll project. You're pretty much guaranteed an A or a B if you put in even a little bit of effort.
One of the vest professors Ive had. Very approachable and helpful. Show up, participate & do the work. His lectures are great and help you pass the class easily.
Professor Kaller genuinely cares about his students and their success. Inspirational and caring, gives great feedback and runs his class very well. He taught me not to underestimate myself and encouraged me when I felt like giving up. The material isn't easy but the lectures were structured in a way that makes it easier to digest.
Best professor to take Accounting 18 class with. His class is fun and informative. He is a fair grader and treats all students with respect.
Professor Steve Kaller is one of the nicest and caring professors I've come across at LAVC. He really wants you to get an A in his class. Aside from the text book, he gives you reading material that summarizes the chapters. We go over homework in class, it's not complicated, but you do have to do the work.
If you want to learn up to date problem solving skills in business, take this class.
This past fall I had the pleasure of taking Cost Accounting under Professor Kaller. I truly learned a lot of useful information that will be practical outside of the classroom & in a real life work environment setting. Kaller always made a point to provide us with a very well rounded overview of the subject matter & real life relation. great class!
I truly enjoyed Professor Kaller's class. The lectures were very interesting and he would answer all your questions and share interesting cases from from his professional experience. . There is a homework assigned to each chapter, 6 quizzes and 1 payroll project. I definitely recommend the class for students interested in accounting and business.
Professor Kaller was a pretty amusing teacher to have. He liked to go off on tangents, especially regarding his view on politics and current events. If you can argue that your response was a valid answer on a test, he will let you have the points.
One of my favorite professors!! Be present for class and participate, it plays a big part of grade. HW isnt graded but must complete it, plays into participation grade. The curriculum was not easy but he makes the information understandable, and applies it to real world examples. IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE TO TAKE ONE OF HIS CLASSES, MAKE SURE YOU DO!
Steven Z. Kaller is a long-time professor at LAVC with an extensive background in accounting. Attendance and participation matter. Peer help is encouraged, do not be shy, ask questions, help one another. Homework is reviewed during class so expect to follow along. The online course you were able to see the classmates as part of attendance. :)
Professor KALLER has a strong sense of what students need in order to be successful: work as a team, help one another out, and keep on top of assignments and quizzes
textbook was so out of date, it was all useless info, first lecture day optional-he wined why more students didnt show. Syllabus was not clear on what he wanted, nor, updated from previous semesters AN ASYNCHRONUS CLASS HAD TESTS OPEN FROM FRIDAY 4PM TO SUNDAY 12pm Steven just because you dont have a life outside this measly class doesnt mean we dont!
I was accused of plagiarism after he told me I used too much internet. it is a very heavy accusation and I told him he should be ready to back that up as I have all previous versions of my document. he suddenly went back on his word and said that he never said that...bffr. so boring also
Professor Kaller finds the right approach and makes thing simple and clear to understand.
Professor was great. Very good experience having class with him.
Professor helped to discover the blind spot of the knowledge. He would also summarize each chapters into few pages. He allowed 1 week to finish the 2-hr midterm and final exams. Part of the zoom classes was homework problems. If, before each class, he assigned a specific question to a student, then every one could participate in the discussion.
Great professor! The class is straightforward with one assignment and one quiz per chapter. He gives clear, engaging lectures and ties the material to current events, which makes it more interesting. He's very understanding, but attendance is important. If you show up and put in the effort, it's an easy A. Highly recommend!
Easy grader, super fun, and caring!! Highly recommend!!!
hes very kind and loves those who participate! He values your opinion a lot so i highly recommend participating a lot if you can. also sit in the front! my main advice is just raise your hand and talk a lot.
Professor Kaller is a great teacher, make sure to participate in class and pay attention, stay on top of your work and follow directions. You will do just fine.
Taking a 5 week course this class was a bit much reviewing many chapters in a single week but worth learning and listening from this professor who has much insight and love for this subject
The professor was very mindful and helped every student who wanted to learn and participate.
A very honest man on the state of and the future of the market.
I took business 001 in the summer and im very pleased with the class sure the lectures were quite long but the group projects were fun and he gave a ton of great feedback and help
He is able to connect with the students
Beautiful and informative lectures. Loves class discussion. Just keep up!
He's a good professor. Really knows his stuff. Just try paying attention in those long lectures
He is great! I would take him as a professor again. He made understanding the class easier.
Steven explains topics very throughly and makes the lectures interesting. His teaching style is great and he gives us reminders on our quizzes and additional information.
Great teacher
Great guy who really cares about the students.
Mr. Kaller was great at lectures and would be able to talk for a whole class without being boring. He also made it feel like he was trying to help us with everything and helped me with every issue I got. I would 100% take him again since the class felt easy too.
He's very understanding and truly knows what he's talking about when teaching. Definitely recommend taking this course with him
Professor Kaller is an amazing person to learn from. His lectures are engaging, practical, and focused on real-life business topics. He explains concepts clearly, encourages discussion, and truly cares about student success. One of the most valuable and and enjoyable classes I've taken!
While I loved the class, I didn't feel like I didn't learned much and I felt like a lot of the lectures didn't hold much information.
Overall, a great professor who cares for his students and wants them to succeed.
He was a good professor and reccomend to take for anyone doing business.
I really liked the way he taught the class I really got a good understanding of basic business practices, and I got key takeaways from his class. The course itself was relatively easy. Steve has a very good view of business and owns and operates one daily. Great professor would 100% recommend.
Professor Kaller is amazing, he has great lectures, is a caring person, and wants students to succeed.
I liked his teaching style, and he is very personable. I was placed in this class, but I decided to stay because I became more interested as he delved deeper into the lectures.
Incredible Professor. The most useful classes I've taken. The lectures teach us about interactions and actually thinking. Very simple classes, and it's just about debating, not really reading, and he wants you to argue with him, trying to make the class interesting. The talks are what make the classes. You learn and don't have much work.
