Very cool dude. Made sure u understand the lecture took time out for his students. He did his best to make sure u did not fail.I would highly recommend him .

Mr. V. knows how to present difficult information and enables success for every student. His lectures are lively, and he uses slides/pictures during lecture for visual learners. I highly recommend him.

Mr Vinning was an exellent teacher. He lectured what would be on the test right from the notes that he gave you.

AWESOME teacher words can describe how good he teaches...he may be a bit annoying but verrrry nice i definately reccomend him...smart or not take him you will pass

WOW! I took a different teacher for bio 233 and i didn't learn half as much as i did with Vining! He's awsome, show up and show him you care and u should be ok. use his practice tests, they are life savers! He made every class fun, i never got bored, very motivating teacher!

Of all the instructors Ive had while attending HFCC, Mr. Vining is the BEST instructor you will ever meet. He really makes learing fun. Very friendly and loves to tell tales of his friends that leaves the students in stitches. If you have a place in his class, feel blessed! There is a reason why his classes fill up so fast, hes excellent!

Mr. Vining is an awesome instructor. People say he got harder, but he had a good reason too. Mr. Vining always makes class fun because of his great stories that he tells us. Overall he is a great funny guy and it's amazing how much you will learn in his class.

Mr. Vinning is a great teacher, especially having him in the spring, he made class fun and exciting. Everyday we would pretty much laugh. Overall nice guy, you won't regret taking him, wished he would've taught more Bio classes. Just don't get on his bad side, b/c if u do, he'll give u a performance that you will never forget. You rock Vinning.

super easy. gives you sample tests that are identicle to the actual exam. So if you answer the sample test questions right then you'll get all the answers right on the test.

LOVED vining!! So funny and a great teacher. What a character! He was always telling funny stories and gives out a study guide that REALLY helps!! 5 stars!! REALLY enjoyed thae class and when u get there, ask how Downriver Dan is doing! lol.

he says that palaski is telling him to "rough it up" on students.I think that teachers should have their own way of teaching and not copying someone alse teaching. the only reason why i took vining is because i hated palaski,and now palaski is giving him ideas to be harder on students when its not necessary.check palaski's rating(hes horrible)& see

One of the best teachers! In my opinion very silly and friendly. You take alot of notes, but they aren't too bad. 4 tests; all multiple choice and range from 50-100 questions. Not too easy, I averaged about a B on every test, but I had 4 science classes in high school. Make sure he gets to know your name early on. You're the best Vining!!

I had vinning for bio 234 and i loved his class. He teaches in a very fun attitude and tries not to make his lectures boring. He's very clear especially in labs he makes sure you know every part of teh body and it's function. Its not an easy A you have to earn it! his lab tests are very tricky also his weekly quizes. I got an A but i worked 4 it!

Mr. Vining is an amazing teacher. He is gets to know everyone's name by the second day! Attendance is mandatory but he always makes class interesting. His tests are tricky but are very fair. Quizzes are given frequently but they are a good way to prepare yourself for the test. If you can get in take Vining, even if it is the 7 a.m. section..DO IT!

I really like vining, he isn't boring at all, and he is constantly asking if people have any questions. Sometimes he gets a little off topic when he talks about random things like squirrels in his backyard, but its kind of funny. I recomend taking him.

Look, I don't care what teacher you get, this class is tough. But he is one of the best teachers. I've heard horror stories about others and he is always more than willing to help, very upbeat, and makes sure everyone is on the same page as he is. curves tests. its not that hes a hard teacher, or that hes paranoid, he caught several people cheating when i took his class. and im sure he just got tired of students taking advantage of him. I found his class very informative, shame on you for saying he doesnt teach. its not his job to read the material to you verbatim. you do have to WORK!!

Cant believe all of the terrible comments. what did you people expect? that he would hand you an A or the test questions perhaps? surely you cant be that naive. I took 234 in the spring,and got an A. it was a lot of work,but he was a great teacher!he likes to challenge you, quit blaming your bad grades on the him and take some responsibility.

Very scattered, but very funny. He wasn't the easiest, but why would college be easy? If you take the class seriously, you will do well. He notices those who are actually making an effort, and rewards them based on such. I would recommend, I took a lot away from this class. DO NOT buy the book though, I didn't touch mine!

You need the book. Take good notes. The practice test is helpful, varies on how much is used on the actual test. Sometimes a 1/3, sometimes 75%. The tests are hard but the point he makes is that he wants you to comprehend the material, not just memorize definitions. Learned a lot and got a B. Very helpful and will point you in right direction.

Mr. Vinning was the best teacher i had. Made us know the material not just memorize and it helped me a lot on the PCAT.. for bio-233 i had to study all over again becz the previous teacher made us memorize.. tests are difficult but i studied and got an A easily

OMG, the best science teacher ever! I actually enjoyed going to his class. The labs are fun and the tests/quizzes are super easy. Vining has a great sense of humor and is hilarious! Trust me, you will not regret taking him. The people that posted negative comments about him are just losers that are not college material. Trust me your going get an A

Great teacher, goes over everything and gives you the oppportunity to ask questions. If you take good notes do well on the practice exams you will get an A. Straight forward and keeps the class fun with his jokes. As far as the comment about bad mouthing another teacher, grow up like you are perfect and its sounds to me like you overanalyzed it!

I love S. Vining! I had him 8 years ago and would take his class over again. He keeps you listening with his silly jokes and puts things in ways that help you remember better. He's fair and helpful! Love him

Why go to college if you plan on it being easy? Mr.Vining was a great prof. He is not easy but that's what makes learning fun. Study the practice tests and you will be fine. I took him for Bio 233+234 and got A's in both classes. I recommend him over all the other A and P teachers!

Vining is a Good Professor, HFCC is not a top rated college, therefore the courses are NOT HARD, I went to UM Ann Arbor, the professors can be off the wall. He is not tricky, he is fair, but you need to study and do the work. If you want to learn anything you need to work for it.

vining is a really nice guy, jokes a lot, tries to make the class interesting. There is always about 2 hours note taking in the class, LOTS of talking and Lecture. He is easy but a LOT of work, a quiz every week. Nice guy though.

OMG! Everyone was telling me that Vining "is the hardest teacher evver!" DO NOT BELIEVE THEM! He's so Helpful and funny too. lol...He gives you study guides for the lecture exams...if you study that you will Ace the Test! Easiest Teacher ever. He's so FUNNY and he gives lots of extra credit. Everything in the notes he gives us is on test or quiz. There's no way you can fail his class. He's soooo funny. Almost everything he talks about he has a funny personal story to go along with it. Take his class you won't regret it !!!!! He passes everybody!

I dont understand how anyone can say he's mean or hard. He's just an old man that tries to communicate with his young students lol. he's super sweet and helpful. the class was is very easy..... tests and quizzes are simple and easy! take him and you'll get an A

He is a really funny man, but I wish he provided online lectures and emails. That made the studying part for it really hard

I showed up and took notes. Easy A. Wonderful instructor. U do not need the books.

He was super nice and made the class bearable. He isn't out to fail you at all. He gives you practice exams which are basically what the exams consists of. Goes over a lot of pictures in lecture that are in the book. So know the practice exam and the basics of the pictures he goes over, and you'll pass. For lab exams, study videos on youtube!

Vining is and will always be my favorite professor at HFC. I missed class because of personal and work reasons, and he was extremely understanding and helpful in what I missed. His quizzes are straight from the lecture notes, and the tests are the exact same. Final science project at the end which was so fun! None of the books were needed.

I had Vining for lab for BIO233. He is a very helpful teacher. He will answer any question you have about any of the models and he'll even help with lecture stuff. He plays online videos and walks through each model. Gives quizzes. Tests are practical exams so it's a lot of studying.

He honestly saved my A&P grade. I was studying my butt off for the lecture portion of the class with a different professor and was getting C's and D's on all the tests. I got an overall B+ (no thanks to the lecture prof), and thankfully won't have to retake the course, unlike most of my classmates. He's really cool and the tests are reasonable.

Great professor, really funny but tends to trail off during lectures. You will never use your book. Don't buy it. He gives quizzes every week but when you take the exam all the material is in the quizzes. Overall I enjoyed his class.

He is a good professor, fair and care about students He gives a practice test before the test and that practice test is hard to answer so u have to study his notes qnd book to anawer it and if u study (not memorize)that test youll get an A in lecture and for the lab test watch videos .

Vining is a stand up guy. He is older and makes you aware of it... But he really knows his stuff. He is sincerely passionate about the class and it is evident in his lectures. No HW given! Weekly quizzes but after the first 100 questions, all other questions are EC. Gained about 50 EC points because of that. He wants you to succeed. Show up & pass.

Professor Vining can be funny at times but in the end, he is passionate about biology and clearly knows what hes teaching. I took him for Fall 2018 and his class was pretty easy. Im very glad that I had him for a biology professor.

Had Vining for lab and he was a very nice and funny professor. Very lax. Basically just watch the youtube videos online in class. That's it.

Take notes, study & youll pass. The material is pretty self explanatory. Hes a nice guy just dont walk over him & talk when hes talking cause hell start to hate you

Mr. Vining is one of the best professors at HFC. Don't let the other reviews change your choice of choosing this man to be your teacher. He's very relaxed and funny. The best advice is to not go on your phone so much and just be a good student in the class and you'll be solid. Lectures are very interesting and his stories are cool too! I recommend!

a good lecturer who will has a personal anecdote for every occasion. wont be helpful for some, but i remembered some things because of that. Was helpful ,shared resources, new science discoveries related to the subjects and you don't need the book. You did have to be present during class and take NOTES!!! His quizzes are easy if you do the former
