It was a really tough class, but he teaches it well. Go to all his classes and you should be alright. I reacommend taking him if you have to take phil.

He's a good teacher and will help you whenever you need it. He also gives assignments for extra credit if you need it.

Very good prof. very intelligent and intense. Deals with complicated subject matter so classes are somewhat difficult. Highly recommend him, very gifted scholar.

Awesome teacher... study the review sheets and tests are easy. class isnt the most interesting but philosophy never is. will help if u ask for it.

Very helpful, doesn't overload you with notes and explains the notes he gives, does a good job considering I personally find philo boring.

Dr. Heter is an awesome guy who is very well-spoken in his field of study. He is always available to help those who seek it. Tests are a bit long and comprehensive, so if you're lazy (95% of ESU students) don't bother taking his class. He is a STRICT grader (no curves or considerations here) and is demanding of his students. Great Professor!

Professor Heter is the greatest professor I've ever had! He's nice, helpful, and really teaches the material... he's VERY good at what he does and shares his enjoyment of the material with everyone. This course was challenging, but go to class and read the assignments and you'll do great!

So other then eye candy he is a great teacher! I would def. take another philosophy class if he were teaching. Just do the reading and study..you will get a B!

He's a very smart man. The class can be difficult, but he explains the material very well. Know the material well to do good on the tests. The final was a lot easier than I expected, but the midterm sucked. It was a lot of writing to cram into a mere 50 minutes. Study and you'll be fine.

Great Professor! Classes are a bit boring...but u are allowed 3 unexcused absences. For mid-term and final he gives a study guide which is practically the test...He is alsooo hottt :) I would def. take him again!

Professor Heter is one of the best professors I've had. He explains all of the material and makes it easier to understand. If you don't go to class, or if you don't pay attention, you probably won't do good. He's also very helpful if you need it.

Heter is unlike any other professors because he dosn't give you busy work. Busy work is the one pet peeve of mine. Our university should be doing research, not work just for the sake of doing work. Heter only assigns tasks that have meaning. He is more difficult than other professors.

Philosophy is confusing, he explains the material well. If you do the readings he assigns and study the lecture notes you will do fine

This professor is amazing. Heter should teach professors how to teach. This man comes to class prepared, gets every1 involved and you have fun doing it. I'm not even a philosophy major and after taking his class I wanted to just take a class by him for the hell of it, hes that good! His tests require you to know what he teaches, just pay attention!

Great teacher. Class is interesting. He's really nice and very helpful. Midterm and final involve a lot of studying, but if you study for the tests you will do very well on them.

He is absolutely gorgeous and explains everything perfectly well. If you are a Phil major definitely take him he treats his students with respect and like adults. Really helpful if you can't understand something he's happy to explain it to you. <3

Nice man. Even though I find philosophy to be boring I actually found myself interested after taking his class. The book was hard to follow but he posted notes that were very helpful.

The class itself was awesome. He explains everything perfect. He posts everything on his personal website. His grading system is fair- work hard, you wont have a problem.I love the way he teaches that He made the subject fun- taking him again because he was that good. take him you wont regret it. PS- he is hot.

Even if you don't like philosophy, take him. He makes everything crystal clear, not to mention he's absolutely flawless.

Dr. Heter has inspired me to question my major and consider a minor in Philosophy; his passion for the subject is contagious, and his ability to make ancient Philosophy relevant to his students is incredible. His consideration for students and their unique sets of skills is unprecedented in most classrooms at E.S.U. I recommend him and always will.

Definitely take Dr. Heter! By far THE BEST professor at ESU! He really cares about his students beyond the classroom. His lectures are really class discussions and are very interesting. He never shoots anyones' opinion down and makes his class a great learning environment! He's super hot too!!! :)

Heter is a cool teacher. His classes are boring but something interesting. His tests seem like they are going to be hard but if you study the direct study guide then they're so easy.

I absolutely love him! One of the best professors alive. Actually cares about his students and is very opinionated. He's down to earth and will build a relationship with his students not only inside the classroom, but outside as well.

Best professor I have ever had.

I was put in this 200 level course as a freshman and thought it would be terrible. It ended being my favorite class because of Dr.Heter. Take him! He explains everything, easy exams, and is super interesting to listen to.

Amazing professor !! Wasn't too thrilled about taking a philosophy but because of Dr. Heter this was my favorite class of the semester. Wish I could take him again! His instructions are clear and and his classwork is pretty easy. TAKE HIM!!

Prof. Heter is the definition of a college professor. He will challenge you to challenge your own beliefs and when you leave his class you will truly be educated. Everyone at ESU should at least take one of his classes to truly understand how great he is as a professor. He is an excellent teacher and I would take him for as many classes that he has

Awesome class, awesome professor!! Heter made me like the subject because he made it fun, interactive, and it understandable. Text book is online (he wrote it) so you can print out the chapters at school which was great. There were in-class quizzes, so you really have to know the material to get a good grade. No midterm, just a final! TAKE HIM :)

Heter was a good professor. He is passionate about the subject material and you learn a lot in his class. He shows documentaries that really open your eyes to things going on and you need the book to pass. Would take again.

This was the only morning class that I took that I have never slept thru. Prof. Heter kept the class interested just by standing in front of the room. He inspired me to write my own theories as I read his many reading assignments. He wrote the book for intro to Philosophy so it's free and you need to read all of it to pass.

I absolutely LOVED Heter. I never minded going to his class but if you missed it, it wasn't even a big deal. He's so awesome and really keeps you interested. He also really cares about your opinion. He does cancel class a lot. He is an amazing professor. He's open to talk about anything with his class. Highly highly recommend him.

Really liked the class and the work. Very very helpful and understanding professor. Will work with you. I took it in the summer so the work was kinda intensive I can't imagine the work would be that back to back during term. We had no tests, just a mini essay due each Friday along with the work during the week. Easy Enough.

I never wanted to miss his class. Every lecture was so interesting, I would have sat there for hours

I asked to switch into his class even though it was already full and he accepted me. He even showed me and gave me a quick mini lecture to tell me what I missed. He is willing to talk about anything and will answer almost any question. He wrote the book for his class so that was helpful as to spending money was.

Easiest class I've taken. No book required and attendance not mandatory. Assigns a few shorts essays which is basically if you do it you get %100 on it. The final is super easy he basically will tell you the exact questions. The lecture is interesting. This class is literally no work.

Favorite man ever

You won't regret taking this class. One of the classes i don't fall asleep in so that's a plus but seriously great professor. Great to talk to after hours as well. Overall though, this class had no exams so why would you not take it.

Dr. Heter is amazing!! He does not give any exam just a few writing assignments here and there. It is not hard to tell that he is very passionate about what he is teaching and very knowledgable. Overall he's just a really great human being.

Easy A. All you have to do is 4 discussion post a week on debate topics. Midterm and Final Paper. No quizzes or exams. Great professor.

Dr. Heter does not normally teach French, but since my other professor had to leave mid semester he took over. I will say he did a phenomenal job doing so. Although it became more of a French culture class, it was interesting and Dr. Heter had some very interesting lectures. I appreciate him for being there for the class to help w/ that transition

Professor Heter is one of the best at ESU he is a rare jewel wish for more professors to be so empathetic and caring as he, I had a horrible first year at ESU but this one professor made up for it. Please take his course my favorite so far was Africana Philosophy. This man is extremely educated and cultured and doesn't give a white savior complex

Professor Heter is the most amazing professor ever and I truly mean this with all my heart. He is such an amazing teacher he takes his time to make sure everything is explained and understood. Mr Heter always has amazing lectures and everyday we learn something new, intriguing and sometimes upsetting lol but he's really caring and understanding

PHIL110 was pretty easy of a course and I think Heter is the best prof for it. You need a book but he prints it out so you don't have to buy it. He cares about his students and the best part no exams or quizzes just a midterm and final project and a few homework assignments. Def recommend this course as an easy GenEd.

Dr. Heter is amazing. If you need this course for a Gen ed, take this one. No quizzes or exams, just occasional writing and homework assignments, and a majority of the class revolves around discussions and debates. Dr. Heter goes above and beyond for all of his students and will help you in any way he can. A diamond in the rough 100%.

I LOVED THIS CLASS!! I took prof.Heter for Phill 110 and I would recommend this professor to anyone! This was the first time I was actually looking forward to class. Prof is amazing at explaining material and being INCLUSIVE! He cares so much about his students, and grades lightly. I learned so much with no tests- only in class activities/projects.

At first I never knew what philosophy was, I thought I would struggle a lot but he really cares for his students, it's hard to even fail this class. Pay attention and attend class you'll do fine.
