Great prof.
What an amazing professor. He is a very intelligent and interesting man. His lectures are truly insightful and his expectations of his students are 110% clear. Use of video and guest lecturers made the course that much more interesting to attend. Honestly the best professor I have ever had at U of O.
The essay does not leave students with a lot of latitude, you must follow his guidelines by the letter, and the TA is very harsh. His lectures have no objectivity, he does not teach with a clear bias, he basically teaches his bias. However, he his a very helpful teacher,as devoted to his students as a prof can be.

Chambers is a very intellectual; fortunately, he is also humble and completely reasonable in expectations. Lots of readings, but he provides all exam Q's ahead of time.He is ALWAYS avail to help outside of class. He applies course content to current events- keeps it fresh. His goal: get students to think critically. One of top profs I've had in 4 yrs
Tries to scare everyone on the first day but so glad I stayed in the class. He posted notes online, he told us all the questions that could possibly be on the exam...as long as you want an A you can get one! Essay is the toughest part.
First class is intimidating and seems like lots of work, but it is SO easy to achieve a good grade! Prof provides all questions before exams, and answers are easy to find in textbook/class notes. 2 exams and one essay for this class. Attendance is very important and he teaches very well, able to captivate interest! ALWAYS available if any questions
Phenomenal lectures. Pleasure to listen to. Essay has very strict guidelines - almost as if it is not my own. Brought it great Guest Speakers, got me more interested in subject. Class is very interesting because of professor, but seems very difficult to get a good grade in.
He is COOL! A great guy! Enthusiastic about the lectures and readings. He is funny, and his lectures are pretty interesting. His multiple choice tests are pretty hard.
Nice prof. Just do the readings and you will pass his class
Very inspirational, passionate about his work. But exams are very hard, with most of the questions not focusing on main theories or topics discussed in class. Have to really focus on the readings because the smallest elements are usually what you get tested on.
Professor Chambers is one of the best professors I've had in my four years of university. His style basically gives everybody an A+, but you HAVE to do the work. All midterm and final questions are given to you beforehand: you just need to do the readings, find the answers, memorize them, and regurgitate for the exam. Do it and you get an A+.
The class was alright. Not what I was expecting though. Pay attention to the most insignificant details in the readings and class notes because he asks a lot of little stupid questions on the exams. Overall, I would not recommend this class as an elective.
AMAZING prof! The best class yet! And the readings are really interesting not boring like the other typical class text book. His exams are easy if you read the readings and go to class. I recommend him time and time again as he realizes that students are humans and need help sometimes.
This man is BRILLIANT and an absolutely AMAZING prof. He's impartial to all opinions. We discussed the broadest range of topics. Reading is heavy, however, every piece is intriguing. He is EXTREMELY helpful and literally lays everything on the table for you. Do the work, go to class, and participate. You WON'T regret it. Life changer.
This is by far the best professor I have ever had. Never seen someone so willing to help his students, such a nice change! Take advantage of his office hours, you can learn so much just by going to speak with him! Ottawa U needs more profs like him, take his class if you get the opportunity:)!!
So much respect for this professor. Does not use a TA, but meticulously marks all exams and papers himself, giving abundant amounts of feedback and constructive criticism. Very knowledgeable on what he teaches and provides detailed notes of his lectures. Highly recommend!
This professor changed my academic outlook and showed the real value of having a professor who truly cared about the content they were teaching and the matter in which they were teaching it. best course I took in university and that was because of having him as the teacher.
Can truly say in my last year of university that he is one of the best. He is very engaging, lectures are actually interesting, and he wants students to get something out of the class. If you have the chance to take a course with Professor Chambers, do it. I will always remember him.
Lectures are awful - wrote them before hand, essay style and came to class and read them to us. His fill-in-the-blanks are randomly selected from the text book and are not in line with what we discussed in class. Essay was pointless - all we had to do was regurgitate an article but the article was extremely hard to understand. Not Recommended.
This is his first time teaching the class, and he did well explaining things, very repetitive classes however and the exams were multiple choice (with answers that were all right.. with one more right then the others) definitely not an elective. Avoid if you can, or really really dedicate your time to learning every small detail he teaches.
He did tell us that this was his first time teaching the class but he knew the material really well. He conveys the material very effectively. He repairs key ideas so if you pay attention in class you know what to study. This course wasn't what I expected but it was really interesting. Chambers is a great prof and he knows what he's talking about.
By far the best prof i've had in my four years of university. He is so passionate in what he teaches, and is always willing to help and provide feedback. Very interesting course, and he makes it even more interesting. This was one of the few classes where I was looking forward to lectures. Has intrinsic value, highly recommended :)
If you hate your life take this class. He is a great guy and all but this class was horribly constructed. Unless you are able to spend hours every night reading useless amounts of pages and studying your hardest for this specific course DO NOT TAKE IT. I feel bad because he is a great teacher but it is just awful. I cried every day
Interesting lectures and all the notes are online (essay style), the content was really interesting and I learned a lot. However, its hard to get a good grade on anything other than the midterm and final exam (there's an article analysis and an essay). Final exam is available online beforehand. Overall, really great class and prof!
Heavy workload, a lot of readings. Exams are killer. Hardest multiple choice ever. Essay worth 40%-Hard marker. Extremely amazing professor, interesting lectures however...unrealistic expectations. Spent most of my time studying for this class and it was my elective. Very stressful class, but if you work hard you'll get a good grade.
Chambers is an amazing professor! This class was difficult but he is very approachable and is always willing to help students! The exams are challenging and the essay was worth 40%. I would not recommend taking this class as your elective but Chambers is an amazing educator.
LOVED HIM. he makes these random comments in class, speaks with enthusiasm and clarity. actually motivated me to go to his 830am class. his notes are amazing (provides them). Study these WELL and you will have no problem (exam is hard BUT if you study his notes through and through you will ace it). LOVE LOVE LOVE him and his teaching style.
Fantastic professor. Very interesting content. The exams are tough but fair. About half his questions come straight from the course pack, and pay attention to details! Unique essay structure, but he will tell you exactly what he wants in his office hours if you are confused. Most interesting CMN course I've taken so far.
He is good prof. The class was "Death and Dying" which is a religion class, but we really didn't focus much on religion. More focussed on ethics. He also was really repetitive in the classes. The paper was the worst experience I've had writing a paper. No creativity, very unclear.
He's a really enthusiastic teacher and gives you a full transcript of his course notes. You do have to do a big paper, and it's best to ask him questions. The midterms and finals are short answer where you need a lot of detail but are given a choice of questions you were given previously. Not as bad as I expected!
Interesting lectures and reading material, prof is clearly passionate about topic but belongs in a high school. Essay worth 40% and content is unimportant. The essay is a practice in punctuation, not intelligence or creativity.
He is a great prof but extremely leftist and does not try to hind it. Everything he teaches is in favour of the left, which is ironic cause its an ethics class... He expects a lot from his students but you learn a lot. His exams are tricky and you must do the readings to succeed.
Very enthusiastic prof. Not what I was expecting from the course however, I was interesting in different religions perspectives on death. This course focuses more on morality and ethics, if that's your cup of tea then the class will be a breeze. He provides his notes, and the essay is simple if you carefully follow his guidelines.
Recommend this prof, he makes the material interesting and keeps the students interested. AWESOME PROF.
THE MOST AMAZING PROFESSOR IN THE WHOLE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATIONS!! Media Ethics was the best class I have taken in all my three years!! He is such a wonderful professor, very expressive and passionate about what he teaches! Professor Chambers is extremely helpful, kind and understanding! A class worth taking, and a professor worth having!
He is interesting and comical to listen to and the content was pretty interesting. However, his lectures consisted of him reading off his notes without looking up. You don't really need to go to class because he posts those notes online, so you can either make notes off them alone, or make notes off of him reading them aloud. Class was overall ok
Was an extremely boring class! Could have made the topic more interesting but instead he just reads off of the notes he made. The midterm is fair but the essay is very hard to get a good mark in. DON'T TAKE THIS COURSE!
Not necessary to go to class since he reads off his notes which he posts online. The essay is worth 40% of final grade, more than the final exam, which doesn't seem right. Tons of reading to do.
Dr Chambers is a wonderful professor! He is SUPER passionate about the social sciences (and you can hear it in his voice when he lectures). The only downside is; he talks extremely fast so whether you're handwriting or typing, it's difficult to get notes down!
Chambers is extremely passionate about what he is teaching it is amazing. He is very straight forward about what he is expecting from the assignments. His final was amazing and easy. He handed out the final questions before for exam. He also posts word-for-word notes from his lectures online which is extremely helpful.
He uses a good mixture of sources and topics in order to give students something to think about when he lectures. But attendance isn't really mandatory if you do an intense reading of the course pack and his lecture notes. Exams are full of insignificant details, and some of his guest lecturers were not well prepared.
Amazing prof. My favorite professor so far in university. He is so helpful on essays if you go talk to him! And the readings are a lot, but they are interesting!
Reads directly from his notes which he posts online; unnecessary to attend class. Midterm paper was worth a great deal; I may have been lost on how to approach the paper if I hadn't gotten into a small discussion group. Prof only focused on male homosexuality, and did not cover the spectrum of issues concerning queer theories. Overall, easy.
Super opinionated and ridiculously specific on his essay. Questions in class, if you dared, were pretty much deflected and replaced with more opinionated statements. Would not recommend.
Amazing prof, lectures are always enthusiastic! does not lecture with power point he lectures off a sheet and uploads the same sheet onto blackboard bolded with important terms. essay was difficult but he will sit one on one with you during office hours and help you! he's a great professor and he enjoys what he is doing i strongly recommend him!
Wonderful lecturer, though does repeat points quite frequently, and had great readings in the coursepack! Made the course very worthwhile!
Awesome prof, super interesting, super passionate and keeps student's attention. But please notice how many times he say "by the way" in a hour and a half lecture.
Loves showing YouTube clips in class to help solidify points, but not the most technologically savvy. Loves talking about music in the 1970s. Two sets of article summaries that take 2 hours to complete, one midterm, and one final. If you read the course pack, there's no need to go to class, other than for guest speakers.
A godsend. Clear, interesting, and very expressive in class. Willing to help if you just ask in his office hours! Exams were a little tricky (MC A-E) but he provides lots of guidance with regards to their contents, and has bonus questions. Very good at stimulating discussion!
This prof is awesome because he extends his office hours to really help you with the essay. This class has a midterm, essay and final but he really pushes you to start the essay and extends his office hours to go over everyones paper. Do the reads because their are question on the midterm and final for them.
Professor Stuart Chambers is seriously an amazing prof and lecturer -- he's so passionate about what he teaches, making the material really interesting. I learned a lot in this course, and exams are very fair. For the paper, start early and see him throughout the process, he was a great help.
i don't think he is the best prof. in uottawa. Was an extremely boring class! if you are able to spend hours every night reading useless amounts of pages and studying your hardest for this specific course the n go ahead.
I had Chambers for two courses this semester and he is amazing. Tests can be tricky you have to really know your stuff as he makes the options a-e, BUT he avoids "all the above" "a & c" type of answers. Pop culture was so interesting I wish I could take it again!
During class says his quizzes and exams are easy and when he gives samples questions they are but during the actual exam he tricks you! He posts his own material he wrote online so you can read it but he goes through it in class. Overall I would change my program before taking him ever again
Professor Chambers is an extremely helpful and passionate professor! He provides a lot of guidance with class material and is super friendly. The two article summaries are easy ways to boost your mark and his multiple choice exams are pretty straight forward as long as you have done the readings. Overall it was a super interesting course!
I would HIGHLY recommend Professor Chambers. He was funny, exciting and charismatic. He obviously loves teaching and he made the class extremely interesting. I had many interesting conversations outside of class with him as well. He's really amazing!
Super fun lectures. Really engaging.
Great Professor! Would highly recommend taking a class with him. He genuinely cares about his students learning and makes sure they have the required knowledge if they put the effort in. Don't hesitate to visit his office hours as they are extremely helpful and he makes his expectations 100% clear.
Incredible prof with inspirational guest speakers. The course really makes you reflect on social issues. To get a good grade all you need to do is go to class, take notes and do all of the readings. BTW class discussions are amazing.
I really liked professor Chambers, his class was very interesting and gave me a new perspective on many social sciences issues.
Death and dying is hands down the best HSS course I've taken in my four years of undergrad, and prof chambers played a huge role in making this class enjoyable. Lectures are really interesting but you have to take notes, each lecture also has corresponding readings. Take this course.
An amazing professor. Make sure you do the readings and go to class, but he inspired me to minor in international development. As long as you take thorough notes and go to class, youre golden. Really looking forward to having him next semester, hes a great prof and a very caring and compassionate man.
Best teacher I've ever had. He's inspiring. I learned so much in SCS 1150. There is a lot of readings, but they are really good and on the subject. I would recommend it!!
Best prof I've ever had. We have a lot of readings, but they are really good! I learned a lot in his class. He's inspirational. I would recommend it! His lectures are amazing. When you understand the lectures, the exams are really easy. When you know it, you can clearly see that there is only one answer that is good (multiple choice). AMAZING PROF
He is very fair. The mark you get, it's the mark you deserve. It prepares you for your futur essay. If you know the subject, you can EASILY answer all the questions on the exam. They are not tricky. You can see that only one is good. People who failed, didn't do anything during the year. You have to do your readings, but there are very interesting.
Loved this prof! I'm not in communications but thoroughly enjoyed this class. I find Chambers conveyed the material really well and kept all the lectures interesting with enthusiasm. I found he spoke kind of fast so maybe recording the lectures could help people who dont type/write fast. He doesn't post notes so attendance is definitely a must!
Chambers was great! However, the marking scheme was unclear for the paper we had to write for the class. There was a lot of discrepancy between the marking of him and his TA. Overall, a great class but I think he should address the marking scheme clearer to the class and the TA to be fair to all students.
Professor Chambers is awesome! He genuinely cares about his students and if you put in the hard work and effort then IT WILL pay off. For this class we only had to do a midterm, essay, and a final. The essay was worth around 40% but, he holds office hours so you can go and see him for advice and corrections. Put in effort and you will succeed!
Chambers' made lectures interesting but is very stubborn. The essay given was given with how he expected the layout and already what references to use but has high expectations and is a harsh grader on the essay. The exams are super hard multiple choice that some questions do not match his material. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
His exams are almost all based on what's discussed in class, so as long as you do the readings in the syllabus and go to the lectures, you'll do well. Professor Chambers genuinely cares about his students and is an overall great prof.
The most straight forward class I've ever taken in my life. Just show up and do the readings. He summarizes everything in class and does not put anything on the exam that we haven't talked about. Midterm and final are MCQ worth 40% each. Written assignment is worth 20%. You choose two readings from the course pack and summarize each one in one page
I am in my fourth year, and this prof. is THE BEST prof i have had. He is clear about is criteria and EXTREMELY helpful for those who genuinely want to do well in the class. The class is an easy GPA booster if you are willing to put in the work, make sure to take good notes in class to help you fill out your study guide. Wish he taught more classes
He gave us an exact layout of the essay he wanted, even the references and paragraph outline... pretty intense with no room for error or interpretation. Doesn't have much structure in his lectures and goes off on tangents, but very captivating and interesting to listen to.
WORST CLASS EVER. I am a straight A student and this class was just beyond disappointing. Content was so easy, but the professor is atrocious.
Professor Chambers was an amazing professor - he is engaging, loves talking to his students, and is always available to discuss any questions. The format was midterm, 2 article analysis, and a final. As long as you attend class, he gives SEVERAL hints and teaches everything super clearly
His class was a blast and super easy. Midterm and exam are 53 MCQ (not cumulative), 50% questions come from the lecture and 50% from the textbook. Reading the textbook is a must! He also requires 4, 1-page article summaries, with a super-easy marking scheme. I would definitely recommend!
Overall, he's a great prof and knows what he's teaching. But there is a lot of discrepancy between him and the TA. The essay was worth 40% of our marks and the majority of the class did terrible on it. There was no rubric for it either. There's also no power points so all notes were taken during class. This is NOT an easy A class. Do not take it!!!
He is extremely clear about what he wants from you in examinations (even provides checklists). His textbook was cheap and you will use every sentence in it. He doesn't provide class notes so attendance is mandatory! Don't be shy to stay after class to chat with him, he is really nice and interesting. A real gem!
Prof Chambers is one of the best profs Ive had this first year. I send him quite a lot of questions and he always replies with clarification! He definitely cares about his students success. I wish I had him in person because I would love to get to know him! Im taking another one of his classes next sem because of how great he is :)
The first part of the semester was fine but I found the second half to be overly political and not keeping up with the times. He spoke openly about politics and expressed his views on subjects which I didn't appreciate. The series seen were also old school like Will&Grace and Amish in the city which aren't what pop culture is about in my opinion
I think he did a good job adjusting to having everything online and he posted lectures ahead of time. They were clear, concise, and mostly were very similar to the readings. The readings are very helpful in getting you an A+ in the class. I don't think this class is very modern though and talks about some older things but overall I would recommend
He's great!! All of the information is given through the lectures and you really do not need to do any of the required readings at all. He gives all of the exam questions in advance at the beginning of the semester and some of them will be on the exam. Show up and pass. He really cares about all of his students and gives a great amount of feedback
Professor Chambers is great. His class was hands-down the best I've taken in the COVID-era. It's very interesting to analyze pop culture from a political/social/economic standpoint, and Chambers does a terrific job of making these connections without soapboxing or going into tangents like other profs. CMN 2180 with Chambers is worth every minute.
Prof. Chambers really shows that he cares about his students. If you do the lectures and take notes, the class is an easy A. The only grades you get are from 2 exams and 1 essay so make sure you take your time and put effort into this work. When you complete these assignments, he is not a tough grader but the grade you get is the grade you deserve
Great prof and would absolutely recommend to anyone and everyone. Always available to answer my emails within a couple of hours and all classes were asynchronous so you can go at your own pace. 4 Article Summaries, a midterm (covers first part of term) and a final (covers second part of term ). One of the best electives out there and super fun!
I really enjoyed Chambers course. Was asynchronous because of covid and he used audio-embedded ppt slides instead. The material was really interesting! Easily accessible by email any time throughout the semester. We were graded by 4 articles summaries (he gives an example of an A+ quality one), 1 midterm and final. Would recommend!
Professor Chambers did a good job accommodating to the new way of learning. He always answered emails quickly and in good detail. I think if you just listen to the lectures it's an easy A- or A but the readings are the extra info that helps you get an A+. The content was generally interesting and I think this is a good elective to take and its easy
The prof himself is fine, but his TA is unreasonable and the grading criteria often conflicted with instructions. Unfortunately, this class was mandatory, or else I would have dropped it. Avoid it if you can.
Online due to COVID. Classes were very organized and interesting. His lectures are very clear and concise. He posted possibilities for exam questions beforehand. A fantastic prof. Highly recommend.
Does not negotiate grades, extremely hard marker, and would not recommend taking him. If possible take any other class than him, especially now that it is all virtual it makes his teaching style a lot more difficult.
Prof Chambers was incredible. Incredibly organized and presented info very enthusiastically. Definitely recommend getting him if you can. He cares about what he is teaching and inspires you to care too.
The prof hosted no lectures and only used slide shows with no words on them just audio attached files which were not at all informative. Secondly, the guideline for the final exam was unclear and there was a lack of feedback given for previous assignments. The TA's for this class also marked on a bias curve and marks were deducted with no reasoning
A really nice and interesting professor and lectures. Be ready to write ALOT during lectures.
One of my favourite professors so far! Great at relating course content to ongoing issues and his own life experience! 10/10 will be watching for his courses in the future
One of my absolute favourite courses I've ever taken. The lectures were very interesting -- and VERY mandatory. The exams are very specific so you HAVE to go to class. If you go to every class the course is very easy.
Well put together, interesting and relevant lectures. As a professor, Chambers is understanding and caring. Can be a tough marker though- you gotta work for an A. Attendance is mandatory. You will likely not pass if you rely solely on readings. Gives practice questions before exams and assignments. Also no textbook! 10/10 would recommend.
good explanations
The course seemed very interesting on the syllabus, and I was excited to take it, but it was not that good. Professor Stuart Chambers is acceptable. He was definitely not my favourite teacher, and I would not take a class with him again. He had controversial opinions and tried to convince us to share his ideas. However, it is true that he is caring
I advise you to take his course to see if you like it. Everyone would have a different experience with Professor Stuart Chambers. Some would say he's amazing, and his lectures are very interesting. While others would say he's stubborn and his lectures are boring. If you feel like you don't like his lectures drop his course ASAP. I wish I did that.
Is a caring prof and responds quickly which is helpful. But he adds 0 information onto slides so attendance is mandatory. Talks quickly+doesnt repeat key terms so writing notes is hard. His grading is unreasonable. Class is very opinionated and the essay outline is written out for you, giving you no option to voice your opinions. Wouldn't recommend
- I loved Professor Chambers AND the class. The content was interesting and he was really funny so it wasn't dull. - YOU HAVE TO GO TO CLASS. There's nothing on the slides but titles about what he is going to talk about VERBALLY. GO. TO. CLASS. - Only 3 things make up ur mark: Midterm 25% - Essay 40% - Final 35%. (Exams are all multiple-choice.)
Stuart Chamber is my favourite teacher. You MUST go to the lectures and you MUST take notes. He'll make emphasis on information that will be on exams so pay attention. There is no textbook but there are readings. The mid-term and final exam are all multiple choice, he does bonus questions and a lot of them so if you mess up it'll still be alright.
Listen to him. He is very knowledgeable about his works
The lectures are really well-organized and interesting, and he is funny and engaging. The course material may challenge your beliefs about the world, but he always makes sure to show evidence for his claims, and encourages you to reason through you own beliefs.
VERY VERY heavy emphasis on attending lectures - if you don't attend his lectures, get ready to guess on the exams (which are all multiple choice btw) or beg a classmate for notes. He speaks with opinion, but he almost always backs up his claims with thorough research.
Prof Chambers is a great guy and this class is definitely more interesting due to his passion. However, not much is graded on, you NEED to attend class, and he (and his TA) is a tough grader. Exams and paper were graded more on quality of writing than the actual content. Overall, good guy but tough class and not an easy A.
Course was nice. Going to class was necessary to not fail. Exam study guide is available on BrightSpace which helps greatly. My laptop crashed the night before an assignement worth 40% was due and he denied me an extention when I emailed him offering to bring it in for proof, so be warned that he is not very understanding.
Extremely HARD grader. If you take his course you might as well right down everything that he is saying no joke. Beware the one essay is the one he will grade the hardest overall if you need a challenging professor he is definitely one of them. Lecture wise he is cool but can't really say too much, most of the time notes is what you'll be taking.
Stuart Chambers was a decent prof, nothing more than that. He would go off-topic a lot and talk about stuff unrelated to the course. He assigns readings that you need to do to pass the course. There's an essay solely on a reading and questions on the exam/mid-term and based on readings. Also his powerpoints have no information on them.
Professor Chambers lectures are interesting and fun. His class will be very easy if you go to every lecture and take decent notes. He provides a study guide for the midterm and the final which is very helpful for studying for the exams.
Honestly the class is interesting but the exam and midterm was based more on random facts then actual key course material. Nothing I studied or took notes on other than the readings were on the exams. I dont recommend a class with him unless you are great at note taking and can write down/study everything he says each lecture.
He's by far my fav prof.. very kind and funny. I used to be so excited to attend his lectures because his passion made everything interesting. He brought in 2 guest speakers on multiple occasions that literally changed my view of the world (for the better). U should go to every class and do all the readings for the exams (2 exams and 1 essay)
The class is very enjoyable, yet the exams are highly challenging. The questions will be very specific, such as "Who was the guitar player on the 1960's album that featured..."! If you have hyperthymesia, I would recommend the class to you!
The best. I would recommend anyone to take this class with him. He made lectures so fun and always made us laugh too. My favourite prof in all of undergrad. He genuinely cares about his students doing well and he is so knowledgeable and passionate about this topic! Amazing!
Great prof, added very specific elements from the lectures onto the exams as long as you attend lectures, you can do well in this class, put in work on the reading and you'll be rewarded!
prod. chambers was easily my favourite professor of my first year. Although his slides didnt have any information I found it super easy to pick out the important information from his lectures as they are very clear. He is a nice guy who definiety cares for his students and knew what he was talking about. very engaging. 100 reccomend taking.
Prof Chambers is extremely good with words and explanations. He is respectful but also has a sense of humour. His grading is not harsh at all, if you take bare minimum notes and do the readings everything is extremely easy to understand. The exam was also extremely easy. He is also a nice guy to just have a chat with.
Awesome prof that has a unique way of presenting information. Invited a couple of interesting speakers. Really enjoyed the class.
A very nice professor, who presents the content in his lectures in an enjoyable way. A bit dry at times, but overall pretty decent and interesting. This class is one with lots of trivia/random facts you have to remember for the exams though. Also graded on an easy essay. Basically must attend his lectures, as he puts very little info on the slides.
My favorite professor for the semester! He is very friendly and engaging. He makes learning fun, and attending his lectures actually makes a difference as he doesn't post a lot of information on his slides, kind of forcing you into the classroom and in turn improving your knowledge and grades.
nice prof! make sure to pay attention since the slides dont have a lot of information
Very caring and willing to help during office hours. Make sure to study the readings well before exams, and the rest is mostly common sense. The essay can be hard, but go to him for help and double check grammar.
This was my favorite class this semester! He was able to cover the course material in an interesting and engaging way. The only thing I have to say is that the lecture slides were pretty empty, so I highly recommend coming to class. He provided us with a study guide for our midterms and finals, which was very accurate.
Prof. Chambers brings a lot of passion and humor to his lectures. Attendance is a must, but the material is engaging if you put in the work. Unstuck study was a lifesaver for exam prep!
Great Prof! He is always in a good mood and happy. His midterm and exam are lecture heavy so you have to show up and take notes. Do the readings as well because they will show up in exams. I would highly recommend it. It's an easy A if you put the work in. His slides are just outlines, it's what he says that you need to write down.
I needed an engaging professor to start off my uni experience and he was amazing! Don't ask too many questions during his lectures as he likes his lectures to flow and he is always happy to answer any questions after the lecture. Or even before! Every time I walk into class I see him in lively discussion with his students (now wish I sat in front).
Great prof, absolutely loved this class!
He was soooo unprofessional, he literally uses SNL clips and Buzzfeed articles in his lessons. He is also such a harsh marker, he takes away marks over the smallest details.
11/10 professor take his class if you can. course consisted of 1 essay, 1 midterm, 1 final.
really passionate and intelligent
Office hours and feedback are useful. He is very nice and understanding. He knows what he is talking about. Very competent.
Interesting prof!
The professor is very clear, prepared, and enthusiastic during lectures. His way of teaching is very straightforward and "matter-of-fact". He keeps students in check with their assignments and exams. The only thing is that he talks really fast, so you need to be on task during lectures. Fun material and a fun time!
He is very passionate about what he teaches, his lectures are very interesting. He gives very good feedback if you attend his office hours. You have to attend every class to understand the material because his lecture slides only have the terms and very few definitions. The exams were easy if you study and read and the essay was straightforward.
Just a really fun prof for a really rudimentary course. Because attendance isn't mandatory, I probably would not have ever showed up for lectures if it wasn't for the fact that Chambers is just a treat to listen to, even when the lectures end up being sort of repetitive.
Absolutely loved Professor Chambers and would take his class again. He doesn't post notes or have much on the slides so attendance is needed to get a good grade but his lectures are engaging and well organized and if you pay attention in class the exams should be a breeze. His teaching style and choice of guest lectures are 10/10 so 100% recommend
Great prof. Class was easy but attendance is a must. Lectures are fairly enjoyable albeit repetitive at times. Course was structured nicely and simple to follow. The only negative aspect of this course was his choice of guest speakers; both were a bore to listen to and their monotonous anecdotes and ramblings added nothing of value.
This a must take course imo. Prof. Chambers is insanely knowledgeable and passionate about the material. He is super fair and his lectures can be really engaging. If you have the chance, do the bonus book talk for 5%!! Super enjoyable to talk with this professor, and he really cares about his students!
My god what an incredible prof. Professor Chambers is just so unbelievably charming and funny. Would 100% recommend this prof to anybody who may want to take this class.
1 essay, midterm, and final. Gave candy for halloween and christmas, exam are objective with helpful bonus questions. You could seek help from him regarding your essays and his marking was fair tbh...he just looks for strong vocabulary and well structured points. Pay attention to sentences he randomly says with emphasis (they can be exam questions)
