THIS TEACHER IS SO COOL. HE IS FUNNY AND EASYGOING. HE LETS YOU USE YOUR HAND WRITTEN NOTES ON THE BOOK TEST AND ALSO ALL OF HIS HANDOUTS. FUN CLASS
EASY!!!!!!!!! Very nice teacher - allows late assignments, very helpful - favorite of all online classes!
VERY FUN! LOVED THE CLASS! IF YOU FAIL, YOU DID NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE DIRECTIONS ON THE HANDOUTS
best IT teacher. no due date for all hmwk till the test, and very fun. Easiest class ever.
This was my first online class and what a great professor to have. Always available and always return your call within 24 hours. Assignments had due date but you had a week to hand them in with penalty. Highly recommend this class and Dr Scott.
Great teacher!Took this class online.Dr Scott was always available if you had any problems. He gave you a week to hand in assignments and DID NOT PENALTY you.If you hand in your assignment on time he would make comments on your work, otherwise you had a week. Really cares about his students!!
EASIEST A EVER!! He's awesome!! Sometimes he wastes your time with alot of stories, but they are fun! As long as you pay attention (even though he forces you to) you can't get anything lower than an A!! Best teacher ever!
This was a super involving class!! I think this was the most consuming class in my entire college career. If you are into art this is a great class for you. If you are taking the class just for the credit toward your degree find another class. Prof Scott was a great teacher and definately was passionate in his craft.
GREAT CLASS! Teacher was very helpfull and always there to answer the questions asked.
Very good teacher. Enthusiastic about the subject matter. Lets you use notes on tests. Assignments are very easy. Should be an A with little effort.
I have had professor scott for film as art and humanities 1210...i'm on the waiting list for the rock perspective. He is a GREAT professor. I learned soooo much in his courses and truely gained an appreciation for all types of art. Would recommend him any day! VERY helpful and gives GREAT feedback! love the 3 days late is still on time rule!
Took Into to the Arts online. I can easily say this teacher is one of the best teachers I had. He is VERY clear about all assignments. Sends an update email EVERY DAY to let you know what is going on, and responds SUPER fast to any questions. Gives you input on your assgnmts if turned in on time and lets you resubmit them. Learned A TON!
HUMN 1270 Excellent teacher!!! He even calls you to say hello. (online class) Answers emails right away and gives you chances to fix your work to get the full grade if you turn it in on time. Use iTunes instead of a book. You need to study and follow directions but the class is fun! Actually looked forward to taking the drop the needle quizzes.
By far the best professor I have ever had at Macomb. He is very helpful and really wants every student to do well in his class. I would definitely recommend him.
I actually finished his online music class a couple weeks ago, and it was prolly the best class that I've taken. He gives you a calander of when your stuff is due, so you have plenty of time to do it. If I was going to reccomend an online class to anybody I would say take HUMN 1270, you learn about all kinds of music generes as well as music's past
His online class is really easy, as long as you do all the assignments it's an easy A. The class was very interesting and he is very helpful if you have questions. Highly Recommended.
I just finished this class and I really enjoyed it. The requirements and due dates are all spelled out and he goes out of his way to help you. He responds and grades everything quickly so you know where you stand. Put in the effort and take your A. My best on-line experience ever!
I took the intro to the arts online, the class was relatively easy, everything was organized and that's really what you need for an online class. I liked his lecture method too, he uses lecture video with voices/subtitle instead of having you read notes or powerpoint. I learned a lot from this class, I highly recommend this teacher.
This professor is the best at Macomb. There's a lot of work in his class but, the way he helps & has the class set up is amazing! You retain so much info because of how awesome he sets up lectures, notes, & assignments. By far the best set up & organized class I have ever taken. He sets you up to learn everything he's teaching but also for success!
VERY dedicated teacher who very much wants his students to learn.Online class..answered emails almost immediately, was VERY helpful always. Prior to class had 0 exposure to any Art & found the class interesting. NOT an "easy" A however he will do whatever he can to help you achieve that but u have to be willing to work at it. Would recommend
Good class. He is a good Professor, but he gives a lot of work. Which is fine, but when you have other classes as well as work...it adds up.
Online class. Excellent teacher who will help with questions & responses quickly. Class was hard & consumed many hours to get an A. Very interesting class. The setup was very organized & you knew exactly what had to be done. If you want to learn than take this professor. I would highly recommend.
The class was surprisingly organized for being an online class which was great. If you turn your work in on time he comments on it and lets you turn it in again for extra points, so there's no reason not to do good. This class was cake as long as you keep up and put some effort in. It pretty much just felt like a lot of busy work, nothing hard.
Loved Stu! He tends to rant on random stories often, but overall you get what you want out of the class, and knowledge. A must take.
First online class I have taken, and I was highly impressed. Scott will send out daily emails to keep the class updated. Homework has a 3 day grace period just in case, which is nice. If homework was turned in on time, you were given another chance to redo it. The class was highly organized, and overall a good experience.
Extremely dedicated, on point and responsive. He allows 3 extra days past the due date for all assignments and if you make it by the assignment, he will put comments on there to give you a chance to resubmit it for a better grade. If you are a working student, don't take the class. Work due 7 days a week. LOTS OF WORK! LOTSSSSSS AND LOTSSSSS!!!!!!!
Very organized online class, everything will be there for you and he communicates great. Lots of work though, way too much, it was an introductory humanities... If you have time take him, if not take someone else.
This online class is great!! It is structured perfectly! You get a 3 day race period on all assignments, but if you turn it in on time you get comments and can fix it. Its a no brainer!!!
Took online summer class. Work 7 days a week, but well worth the time. Very interesting, organized, & fun class. One of the best teachers at Macomb if you wish to learn. He lets you redo assignments for a better grade & answers emails quickly. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! A+ Professor
HE ROCKS!!! very helpful. You MUST keep up with emails with online class. follow rubric and use study guide write page numbers for future reference. EASY A
One of the best professors at MCC hands down. He communicates with everyone so you seem involved and it actually seemed more like an on ground class with his interaction. He gives you extra time to complete the assignments and gives a lot of extra credit. He tries to make it so that everyone walks away with an A. EXCELLENT Professor!
Beyond fair. 3 days grace period for assignments, but if you turn them in on time you have an opportunity to receive comments from him and re-submit for a better grade. A lot of work, but expected for an accelerated course.
Teaches a 1200 level class at a 4000 level and lots of work. Other than that he is fair and communicates well. Need to hve a love of music for this class. I received a B. I am glad it is over.
Dr. Scott is a great instructor I took this class online. It is a lot of work but he is very organize, you will receive your grades the next day, email you right back, and one of the most important thing to know about this class is get your assignments in on time if you do he will give you a comment for any corrections to be made. I got an A.
Although there was a lot of work, prof stuart made it manageable. You were able to turn things in 3 days late or if turned in on time, able to resubmit for a better grade. Sometimes a stickler about grading the first time around, but more than fair on the resubmissions. Im not a music student and got an A+.
A lot of work but manageable. As long as you submit your work on time and take advantage of resubmitting your work for a better grade, your grade will be good. Very interesting class and the professor is very helpful. Well worth the work for 4 credits because the work is not hard, you just have to do it on time.
Dr. Scott is very interested in his students learning. Dr. Scott is extremelty well organized. Get your assignments in on time and you will do well. I've had over 115 credit hours at MCC, his course is by far, the most bang for your buck in all aspects. A lot of work for sure due to the short term, but easily doable. Excellent course and professor.
Lots of homework for the online class
I heard this class was a ton of work but it wasnt so bad. Assignments due everyday but I manily got everything done in 2 or 3 sessions. Reading the lecture and taking notes were the most time consuming for me. Overall the class was pretty easy. Dr. Scott provides great feedback
One of the best professors Ive had yet! Gives early access to the next weeks assignments so you can work at your own pace, I did a weeks worth over my weekends so that I had the week free. Lets you retake quizzes for better grades, and he also allows a three day grace period on any work. You also have the chance to resubmit any assignment.
I took Film as an Art, and it was one of the best classes I have ever taken. All of the assignments work towards the goal of making you able to analyze different aspects of film. He gives you the option to re-submit assignments for a better grade, which saved me several times. Assignments take hard work and dedication, but are doable.
Class is organized but there's just too many activities for a class that is just one HUM credit. I thought I would be really interested in the Rock & Roll aspect of it but all the stupid little assignments make me hate taking this class online. Have to do a cross word, 3 posts, lyrics, 3 quizzes, & 2 pt. extra credit quiz each week.
He's the best! He was very clear with what he wanted and the assignments weren't bad.
A TON of work. But an awesome teacher. Assignments everyday but you can submit them up to three days late or get a chance to fix the mistakes, which he gives comments on every assignment. Never met him but wish I did. He was so nice and everything he expects is clearly outlined. Really gives you a new look at films.
Took online so I never met Mr. Scott but he seemed nice enough. Class is alot of work with assignments due 6 days a week, but you do get a 3 day grace period which helps. My biggest complaint is that despite the class name you dont actually spend much time talking about rock music. class should just be called a history of music or something
If you have the chance to take ANY class with him, DO IT!!!!!!! Although I took his class online, I learned so much about film and it was very enjoyable. He always provides feedback and tells you what you can fix to re-submit for a better grade. His quizzes and notes were perfect! I wouldn't change a thing about his class!
I took this class online. It was fairly easy, but there was a lot of work involved. Assignments could be turned in up to three days late without penalty. He lets you resubmit assignments for more points. Two chances to take the quizzes, you keep the highest score. Professor Scott is awesome. Take this class its an easy A.
This was my first online class I've taken and he is a very good professor!! He's very clear and concise and wants you to pass with an A. He gives you second chances on all hw and quizzes and lets you know where you need to improve. Definitely recommend taking him if you need any humanities classes. He made this class fun and is easy to get an A.
The only thing good about this guy is the fact that he lets you redo some assignments if you don't use the 3 day late grace period, there is an assignment, quiz or essay do every freaking day, I'm terrified that I'll end up with him for another HUM class that I need before graduation, it's just way too much work for a humanities course
I took Professor Scott's rock music class online. I haven't had many professors who care as much as him about students getting an A. He wants you to learn too, but gives chances to retake tests, etc., to ensure both learning and success. Being very interested in the subject matter made this class a breeze, but he helped a lot along the way.
I took Professor Scott's 7 week online film class & lets just say it was brutal. He gives you & I'm not joking 50 assignments to do in 7 weeks... That's an assignment a day, & then only has a 3 day grace period otherwise it's no points. Online classes are supposed to be flexible for someone with a full time job & this class was not at all.
Dr. Scott is amazing. He will teach you all about film in a way you wouldn't think possible. His class is organized in a way so you can get an A. He gives amazing feedback to help you understand more. I highly recommend him.
I loved this class, but I love music too. It was very insightful and informative.
There were a lot of assignments and papers in this class, but they were all pretty simple. As long as you turn in the assignment by the due date, he will leave you comments and you can resubmit to make up the missed points. He was a tough grader, but the re-submission more than made up for it. Overall, an easy A and an enjoyable class about films.
I took the online version of the film class. I did not need a book. However, you do have to buy a code from the bookstore for a 5 point grade. He gave homework everyday but that is almost expected from an online class. He gave you 2 tries on the quizzes to boost your grade and did that with assignments w/ feedback. Overall, I thought he did well.
I took the film as art class online and it was the first class I've taken as a dual enrollment student. it started out fairly normal but as the course went on it began to get very difficult with an essay over a movie every week and tests all the time. I had an interruption half way through the course and he gave me all of the time I needed.
Gonna get straight to the facts. Easy A. Do the HW before the first due date, he gives feedback and you can recorrect it for full points. 3 days grace period. 10 Large writing assignments, pretty annoying, but its really easy. No textbook, but you have to buy an access code from the college, it was $20. You can knock out all hw for in 4 hours.
HE IS ONE OF THE MEANEST TEACHER EVER. I WAS NOT DOING WELL IN THE BEGINNING OF THE CLASS FOR SOME PERSONAL ISSUES IN MY LIFE. I WAS TRYING TO PUT MY GRADE UP AND HE DID NOT WANT TO HELP ME. HE'S A TOUGH GRADER FOR SURE. YOU'LL NEVER GET A FULL POINTS ON THE ASSIGNMENTS. HIS QUIZZES ARE TIMED. DO NOT TAKE HIM........
I loved taking his Rock Music class. You learn a lot of information in a shorter amount of time, but because of how it is structured, it makes the class go very well. You get to study an artist/ band for the semester which makes it very fun and interesting. I definitely recommend taking this course.
Very interesting class. Don't really like how it was run and didn't really like the prof. that much (he seemed annoying through messages). Had quite a bit of technical problems. However, he does have extra credit and you can resubmit assignments 3 days after the due date. Gives super good feedback. Pretty easy as long as you actually do the work.
Took Intro to Arts online! Professor Scott had my favorite lecture layout out of all of the classes I've taken. Decent amount of homework, but you get to turn everything in 3 days late for full credit or you can resubmit assignments. I didn't find the class hard at all, plus it's really interesting and engaging. I actually had fun doing homework!
This is a professor I'd avoid. I took 1210 & 1270 with him, and it was my biggest mistake! He gives you almost 3-5 quizes a week! Notes are TERRIBLE! He had us purchase an access that im pretty sure he made. Never had a textbook or was able to access it. I would advise you to avoid this professor. I dropped both classes becuase I couldn't keep up!
Took the film class cuz I had to but wish I didn't. This was basically another English class. Way too many papers and not specific in what he wanted in the assignments. Did give options to resubmit but was way too much work. Was not specific enough in what he wanted for assignments. Many grammar and other problems in lessons. Would not recommend
Great Professor! There are lots of papers, but they are all pretty simple. He gives students an option to retake quizzes and assignments. His feedback on the papers are very specific and could gurantee you a good grade if you do what you are told.
Every week you watch a film and he has your write about 5 paragraphs on it including specific things from the lectures throughout the week. U have a quiz and lecture everyday but it is pretty easy. He gives u a chance to redo on every assignment and one assignment to make up for a lost one. I definitely recommend him! He cares for his students.
I took the film class and there was a lot of writing. You also have to watch a movie each week. Overall the class wasn't difficult, he had strict rubrics and if you followed them you got an easy A. He also lets you redo every assignment once including the quizzes. I would recommend this course as it is not difficult just time-consuming.
I don't know if there is a language barrier or not, but there are many grammatical errors in his lectures. The class is interesting, but I work a M-F job and did not have time to continue in his class as the lectures were lengthy. Interesting class, would take if I didn't have so little time in my schedule.
Hee gives good feedback. You can submit the assignments upto 3 days late but he will not leave any comment. Extra Credits available. Cons are that he marks down grades for absolutely no reason. Be prepared for tonns of homeworks everyday. 10 long assignments which are pretty annoying. The timed quizes are hard. He will make you work for it.
VERY picky with his grading and criteria for assignments. The criteria was longer than the actual question. It was almost impossible for me to get a 100 on an assignment. Class was interesting, but there was just a lot of unnecessary fill in work that seemed useless. You could re-do the assignments, but half the time I only gained an extra point.
His grading criteria is very specific just follow the rubric. It doesn't take long time to write those papers. you get re-submission opportunity for every paper including weekly discussion. he offers a lot extra credit that worth so much No surprise quiz. Difficulty- too much writing weekly. make sure you have at least 10 hours every week for this.
Great Professor, would highly recommend. Gives multiple chances for homework and tests. One of the best classes for humanities!
Took this class online and thought it was an easier class to take. The format of his class is entirely different from all other online courses I have taken. He grades tough and will pass you with a "C".
easy class, very interesting lectures. had no idea i liked art until i started this class. easy assignments but kind of a tough grader. super easy tests also.
Super clear on all assignments and gives examples for everything. Always willing to help. Not a lot of work every week and has the entire class organized EXTREMELY WELL! Gives you 3 days after due dates to turn things in, you just won't get any comments on your work. Such a good professor and an amazing class. Take him if you ever get the chance!
He has such specific grading criteria that it's near impossible to get a good grade. I got a 0 on an assignment for something super small that wasn't my fault. On the home page of canvas he states that you fan turn in assignments 3 days past the due date with no consequences but that's false.
This class could not be easier. All of the answers are within the lessons, he does not throw any curve balls. Plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Assignments have clear instructions. You can submit the assignments on time, or 3 days late with no penalty. He communicates a lot and is easily reachable. He wants everyone to pass.
Absolutely amazing Prof. Everything is given to you all you have to do it log on to canvas and read basically. Read the notes, do the assignment and take the quiz. You get two attempts at every quiz and you can resubmit anything up to 3 days late fixing any errors to recieve full credit. Super easy A.
Dr. Scott is a kind and respectful one. He truly cares for his students and really enjoys it when they learn something. Lots of extra credit. The lectures are quite lengthy but the exams are pretty straightforward. There are around 8 exams and the final is an essay, which was also lengthy. Not a terrible class, but there are easier ones to take.
Easy and very organized class, despite the easiness; you will learn a lot of things in this class regarding films. Lots of extra credit... so there's no chance to miss the A! you can also take the quizzes twice in case you don't answer very well in the first one :)
Great professor and probably the easiest class I took. Mostly consisting of notes taking and a ocassional quiz and discussion board after the week. Definitely recommend taking this professor.
Dr. Scott is a really great professor for humanities and I'd take a class with him again in a heartbeat. He is kind and caring and very easy to communicate with and responds quickly. He gives tons of feedback so you know exactly what you did wrong and gives you a chance to redo the assignment. You get two chances to take every quiz and lots of EC!
I found this class to be extremely difficult. The extra credit in this class is only offered if you do the assignment correctly. This professor also grades very harshly on both assignments and quizzes. I recommend not taking this class as an elective.
Had him online and the only way I can describe the guy is weird. Most of the assignments were just strange, wanting us to make a playlist for a loved one and connect a song to a movie scene. The lectures were long and dry but he certainly put a lot of effort into creating them. He did grade on the harsher side but allowed resubmissions.
Super organized and easy class to take. He gives out lots of extra credit and redo assignment chances, each test can be taken twice. The class is split by days so it's easy to follow along and not fall behind, the notes are very organized and simple as well.
Amazing prof. Like many others I was taking the classes as a filler class for elective credit and fin aid and thought this class would be useless but a week in and I LOVE THIS CLASS. It's extremely well organized and you will love it here. He lets you work ahead and everything is very well organized but it will take you a few days to get used to it
Lack of Technical knowledge. Lessons are long and difficult. Very time-consuming, with multiple tests and assignments every week. The class is also very boring.
I honestly didn't have many issues with this professor. He was a little rude and passive aggressive, yes, but overall the course was super easy. Just do the assignments each week, they don't take long except for the film assignment.
I loved this class, and overall all the online classes Dr Scott has to offer. Study guides are incredibly helpful even when they're time-consuming, and the ability to resubmit should 100% be used if needed. Some assignments required a good amount of effort to do everything right but it was not too hard.
He gives extra credit, and most of his assignments are quizzes, and for the week you watch a film it's either a paper with questions or a quiz on the questions.
There's a good amount of reading notes you will have to do for this class. Quizzes and assignments can sometimes be hard, but if you put in the effort on the readings you should get a good grade. Dr. Scott said about 70% of people in the class got an A, so if you try you will get a good grade. Lots of extra credit opportunities available also.
