You'll laugh at his antics but cry at your grade, go to class, study hard!
amazingly nice guy...just do your work and go to class..he's awesome though
Very very nice guy. If you go to his office hours, he will sit with you until you understand. Watch out for his tests though... they're harder than the class itself is.
Gives you answers to the assigned homework in class...usually cuz you need all the help you can get!!! Better hit the books in this course.
He's about as good a statistics teacher as is humanly possible. The subject matter isn't easy, but he teaches it as long as you go to class.
Learn to use SAS, cause it will cut a couple of hours off of your homework if used correctly
what an unhelpful prof. - he could care less about his students and just lectures without any in detail explanations. hes a very unfriendly and overall bitter person.
Learn to use SASS first of all. Subject material is difficult but the professor is very knowlegable. As long as you go to class and take note you will understand what is going on. There are periodic quizes and the midterm and final are difficult but you get a notecard. Nice guy though.
Extremely nice guy and very dedicated toward helping you understand the material. He does a great job with a tough subject matter. If you need to take STAT, take it with Kundu.
His notes are all over the place and the SAS projects are very hard. To those who take him or have to take his class beware. He is a hard teacher with an accent that makes learning the material very though.
Class was very useful, Prof. Kundu is very patient and willing to help those who show an interest. Thanks alot, and keep up the good work.
Great guy, extremely knowledgeable on the subject, willing to take his own time to help you understand better. Definately take this class with Kundu.
Class is a breeze if you've taken Stat 112 and know how to use SAS. Wasn't a great lecturer but he's a really nice guy and sets up lots of extra office hours before tests. Don't bother buying the textbook- I already knew the material and it managed to confuse me b/c it's so unclear. Definitely recommended.
Professor Kundu is a really good teacher. The book he chose for my class was awful but listening to him cleared most things up. Class was very easy, especially if you've taken stat in high school.
Prof. Kundu is amazing! He's super helpful and really cares about students learning. He makes sure that his students understand a point before he moves on to the next one. He's very laid back about homework as long as you turn it in at some point. If you're going to take a STAT class, take it with him. And ask questions in class--he loves it!
If you have to take stat 118, take him. He cares about you and will do everything he can to help you understand. If you don't understand what he's talking about in class, just keep taking notes. It will make sense later.
If you're going to take this class, take it with Kundu. Hiro is the best TA, but you can do fine w/ any of the other imports. Get in a good group. Hope that you're smart, and do the stat projects with other smart people and you'll be fine. If you're dumb take a different class or choke down a C.
Prof Kundu is really helpful, he will go out of his way during class to make sure everyone gets it. He has an accent but he realizes it so he checks in to make sure he is being understood. The book is straightforward and he uses the problems often. Also, he will help you with all the computer syntax so you don't have to memorize it. Great class!
Kundu is the only professor for this subject. He expects way too much. His homeworks can take 12 hours and his final exam is pretty much impossible. He expects way too much from his students and gives two projects, a homework (might I add which are the size of the projects) and an exam when you are trying to study for other exams.
Good professor who really cares about his students. Its not hard if you go to lecture and pay attention to what he is talking about, but that is typically hard to do because people perpetually talk through the entire class.
Great Professor!
Taking it online which should throw up a big red flag reading "SELF TAUGHT". The textbook is confusing but there are enough practice problems, I guess. Weekly quizzes are open book but still impossible and the class average is failing. Hoping for a wicked curve after the final.
There were two elements of professor Kundu's class that I found particularly hard to overcome. One was his inability to speak English and the other his dashing good looks.
Really nice guy, but really crappy class. His English sucks, and the TAs aren't any better. Curves a bit and gives you partial credit for everything. Overall, just a hassle. Don't take unless you have an interest in it.
Kundu is such a nice guy! He tries to make sure you succeed, though he's really hard to understand sometimes. The TAs are really confusing, but they directly go over the homework questions you're assigned weekly. Kundu was really helpful with the group project as well - he told us exactly what to do. He's a good teacher, knows what he's talking abo
He is a nice guy but I found class to be rather hard to understand. TA's are relatively worthless. pop quizzes in class. Tests are unnceccesarily hard.
The class average for the final exam was a 59, Need I say more? TA Bijit Roy was tough to work with, he got frustrated whenever someone asked a question in recitation. Kundu himself is a nice man, but not a good professor. Strong accent, so you spend time in class trying to understand him as opposed to trying to understand the material being taught
Kundu has no control over the class at all. After his initial homeworks, his HW takes 12 hours to finish. He also assigns two projects, and a HW at the end of class during finals. Broken english the whole way too. Avoid if at all possible. Also, Bijit Roy flips out if you ask a question in recitation. Very impatient.
I was assigned as much work for his class as all others combined. He's a nice man but he fails to understand the difficulty of the topic and the fact that it is not the only class being taken by students. Save yourself the hassle and avoid.
Greatest Prof I had at GWU - Even though I did not get an A but that was my fault - you just need to study to do well. Extremely fair and helpful. Do not wait until the last minute to do your assignment. SAS is difficult but I am told it is very useful.
DO NOT TAKE TO FULFILL GCR!VERY HARD. he is a nice guy, but impossible to understand. and the TA was awful- not helpful at all. I do not reccommend this class
Nice teacher but thats about it. He was easily confused with questions and because of his accent and weird teaching style he got alot. Buy the book because you basically have to teach yourself. The subject matter isn't hard so its possible to get an A but dont rely on him, or the TAs who do nothing. Class averages were 50% so curves did help alot.
My first and only B at GW. It helps to have taken stat before, because he expects that you know things before you even cover them in class. Some of my friends thought his tests were easy, but I didn't think so. Don't be afraid to ask him ?s though, because he's a sweet person who sincerely wants his students to learn.
Do not take this professor. Although he is a nice guy one-on-one, he is a terrible class professor. Nearly incomprehnsible in lectures. On top of that, he expects you to know everything in the class beforehand, and moves at a very quick pace. Avoid is possible
I enjoyed this course. It wasn't really easy but it was worth taking and with some effort it wasn't too hard. Good guy, good teacher
I love Kundu!!! He is super nice and wants to help you learn. Stat 118 is not something you should take unless you already know some statistics. Also, his accent is not that bad and he is fluent in English. He's the kind of prof who will repeat himself or clarify when asked. He likes to talk to students and remembers names even in huge lectures.
Great professor, very clear in class and lectures are very well organized. STAT 2118 is generally a tough class and has a lot of work, but Kundu is a great professor. He has an accent but has no problem speaking english. He truly wants students to learn and is willing to do a lot to help them.
Listen, I'm going to be completely honest. He is a nice guy, but his teaching style dictates that he believes that students take one class per semester. Too heavy of a course load, with homework that takes 5-7 hours per week. Class doesn't need to be as hard as it is, and he is willing to help, but not an easy class. Very nice man, though.
Oh lord. The most challenging class at GWU. I felt no matter how hard I was studying I could not get it. He is a good person and willing to help and explain concepts after class however, it is hard to understand what he is trying to do.
The class is not easy, but Kundu is a great teacher. Instead of just throwing formulas at us, he tried hard to help us understand why the formulas are the way they are. I got an A, but I was a thorough note-taker, read the covered book chapters multiple times, and went to the TA for homework help. I didn't expect to like the class as much as I did.
Extremely difficult class. Easier if you already have a good working knowledge of statistics and SAS. If none, good luck as you are on your own. Exams are very difficult. Class average will be ~50%. Mathematical proofs will need to be memorized in order to do well on exams. Also, only 2 or 3 problems per exam. Mess one part up, you're done.
Material wasn't always the easiest but he is a great teacher and helps whenever you ask. The homeworks take a while and get pretty annoying. Luckily he curves quite a bit! Overall great professor
As many of my peers have pointed out there are 2 exams. The class average for teh first was a 50. The average for the second was a 20. The homeworks take at minimal 5 hours each and there is a computer project required that will take forever. Don't think you will get a good grade on any exam, though he does have a 20+ pt curve.
Kundu clearly knows what he's talking about, he has just nowhere near mastered the art of translating it clearly and precisely to students. The first exam was manageable, the second was kind of a joke. Worry not though, there is a hefty curve. Hopefully you get a decent TA, they can be helpful in understanding the material.
People exaggerate the difficulty of Kundu's class. I know the ratings don't look hot, but you have to actually pay attention in class instead of browsing Facebook and you'll be fine. Kundu is awesome at handling questions about content in-class and will give more examples if you simply ask for them. He hates Qs about curves, moving tests back, etc.
Professor Kundu is not a good teacher. He make students figure out concepts without prefacing them at all. Most of the lectures consist of Professor Kundu going off on tangents leaving students confused He doesn't stay on track so the lectures and quizzes do not coincide. I recommend doing the HW from the book to try to understand what's happening.
Kundu is the most pleasant helpful professor Ive had at GW. Responds to any email I've sent with in a day and has plenty of office hours. I had for intro the midterm and final averages were both around 70 and he gives the top 25% of the class an A and if you get an A on the final he guaranteed at least an A-. His difficulty is exaggerated
He's amazing. Super nice and funny too. He grades on a gigantic ass curve that helps everyone in class. Like I got a 68 out of 87 on the midterm, but he dropped it to 80 and even THEN added extra credit points. He's as good as it gets here I adore this guy. Go to office hours!
Kundu, as most Stats professors do at GW can get a bad rap. I wouldn't be too afraid. The first few weeks were rough, I will admit it. However, he realized that how he was teaching the class wasn't working and changed how he taught. Now things are making a lot more sense. I have been learning a lot since the switch.
This is a math class. If you hate math (like I do), it isn't going to be fun. However, this class is super doable if you go in during his office hours, do the hw, and pay attention in class. My advice is also don't get too discouraged if you start off doing bad--- I did and then ended up acing the class.
Very hard to understand and follow. If you do the homework and practice problems, you should be fine, but beware of how hard it might be to understand his lectures at time. He really tries but just sucks at teaching. You may have to do a lot of self-teaching. If you get the opportunity, do not take STAT1053 with Kundu, but with Miller.
Your grade is basically all determined by quizzes, the midterm, and the final. None of these are too bad with some studying. Attending class is definitely not mandatory, but he sometimes gives extra credit for being in class. His is not the best teacher, so you basically have to teach yourself. But go to discussion sections.
PROFESSOR REALLY DOES TRY TO HELP AND TEACH AS MUCH A POSSIBLE BUT IT IS BASICALLY A SELF TAUGHT. SO IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND OR MAKE OFFICE HOURS YOUR BASICALLY SCREWED, BUT YOU CAN STILL PULL A PASSING GRADE AT LEAST.
This professor made my statistics experience less stressful. If it wasn't for his care and willingness to work with me, I wouldn't have survived.
Kundu is funny and really nice but his accent makes it very difficult to understand a lot of what he says so pay attention. The only time I ever did well on a quiz was when I went to his office hours so go to him outside of class. There's a quiz every week so make sure you do the homework even though he never checks it.
Professor likes people who show up to office hours and participate in class. He is helpful outside of class, especially in preparing for quizzes. But in class he is very confusing and unorganized. His accent makes it hard to understand on top of the difficult material. He tries to be fair but this class requires a lot of individual learning.
Doesn't know English very well, pronunciation of words is very bad. He has one Pizza Hut bag, within a lot of quizzes. Finals are easier than the Midterm. His TA can't subtract 0.49 from 0.5, doesn't know how to use the real calculator. Real mess.
I thinks he is a good prof. He has a great responsibility. Any questions are welcomed and would be answered. Although quizzes are too much, it is greater than only have midterms and finals. Grading is fair and would be curved if necessary.
If you go to lectures and actually listen, this class easy. If you do miss class, do the readings, the textbook is pretty helpful. The material is not hard and he goes at a reasonable pace. His tests are short, so you can't afford to screw up. He offered some extra credit too. He has a bit of an accent, but I was still able to understand him.
It's probably unfair for me to be critical of Kundu bc I think I was just bad at stats and didn't put enough work in. He's a nice guy, he just seemed overwhelmed by a 170 person lecture. Read the textbook and don't get distracted or miss lectures. Grades are based mostly on difficult weekly quizzes. Big project at the end is a grade-saver.
Kundu' teaching style is hard to get used to at first but it gets easier as the semester goes on. He's really nice and is willing to help outside of class if you just ask. Sometimes he speeds through topics too fast so you have to go back and reteach yourself but discussions/practice problems make it easier to grasp. Allows flash card on final
This class is pretty tough, and you have to work for a good grade, but Kundu gives notes that are really clear, easy to follow, and good for reviewing. One midterm, a final, a project, and a weekly quiz (two are dropped). The exams are tough (curved), but if you study for the quizzes they'll boost your grade.
I believe Stats is a helpful class that all students should take, but Kundu was truly one of the worst professors I have ever come across. I came into this class with a basic understanding of statistics but left more confused. I know this class is required for Columbian but do not take him. He explains nothing and I'm not sure he even understands.
Professor Kundu acres about his students and helps a lot during office hours. The biggest downfall of the course is his quizzes every week that can sometimes be difficult as it is on new material and do not always reflect the practice problems done in class. He does provide many resources for us to use though and drops the 2 lowest quiz grades.
While all Statistics professors at this school don't seem to be great, Kundu seemed very ineffective at trying to handle a class of this size (150 people). He tried to hand out papers 1 by 1 on his own and often gets flustered when teaching. Most learning is done with your TA. You could get the book, but it's also fine to only study from your notes
just show up to lecture and take lots of notes. recitations are super helpful as well. he explains things decently but can be difficult to stay engaged, doesnt interact with class very often during lecture. curves grades, itll save you.
I am not a stat major however Kundu made statistics enjoyable. The class is by no means easy but if you put in a lot of work it's possible to do well. The class was made up by weekly quizzes, midterm, final, and project. Get to know him during office hours because he's extremely helpful one on one and wants you to succeed.
This class is hard if math isn't your thing, but Kundu doesn't try to make it harder than it has to be. Some of his lectures are confusing -- the explanations in the textbook are usually easier to understand. And don't worry, he MAJORLY curves grades at the end of the semester.
I'm not a fan of this professor or this class. He comes across to many of the students as pretty charming and harmless but he can be quite unreasonable with his expectations in what is essentially an intro class. Beware of finals week as we've had the most out-of-class work assigned during this period and it's all relatively difficult/time consumin
Kundu is the most pure professor out there. He is so funny and will make Stat so much fun. Make sure you do your homework and ask questions when you need to, and he will have your back all semester!
Kundu is a nice guy, but the class felt disorganized. Weekly quizzes. HW can be time consuming. Project assigned at the end of the semester was ridiculously hard and used a software we never went over in class. Material felt rushed, making it confusing a lot of the time. If you're not good at math, you'll struggle in this class.
It's rare for math profs to get good reviews but I really liked Kundu. He clearly cares if you understand the problems or not and will stop during lecture to answer and explain. The class grades are based on participation (HW that can be super long), quizzes given out each week, a midterm & final as well as a project worth 10%.
Professor Kundu does want his students to succeed. But you basically have to teach yourself and the homework can be unnecessarily long. Project due on the day of the final worth 10% of our grade and was barely talked about in class.
His accent can be a bit difficult to understand at times and will occasionally go in circles at the beginning of the course to make sure everyone is on the same page which is both justified but also annoying. It is very important you understand his expectations of his students to be checking blackboard for homework even during the breaks...
Kundu is a good guy, but his lectures can be confusing. He assigns weekly online homeworks which aren't too bad, but they typically don't perfectly align with the lectures. He also assigned a project during finals (in addition to an actual final) that used a software we hadn't used before and seemed like busy work.
Kundu is THE PROF to take for 1053. He's so kind & the class is VERYmanageable. His lectures are a bit confusing but he's aware of that and will do everything he can to clarify things and help u do well in the class(ex: office hrs, test curves, slow down the class) Attendance is optional BUT he knows all of his 150+ students by name! He's the best!
Took this class for credit and I hated it. Even though Kundu is super nice and funny, his lectures are rushed and make no sense to non-math people. The online hw is super hard but a big part of your grade. I had to teach myself most of the material outside of class. Luckily the midterm and final are curved.
Weekly quizzes weren't that bad; I never studied & did poorly on them but it didn't affect my grade as much as I thought it would. HW could be tedious & take a while but helped w/ understanding. Midterm & final curved, project is daunting at first but it helps your grade. He really looks out for his students & wants the best for everyone!!
He's approachable, but his lectures are incredibly confusing. After the midterm all the teaching was example problems. He assigns online HW which is incredibly difficult. If you take this class expect to teach yourself a lot. Khan academy helped. Tests were curved. The final project is also very confusing and a large part of the grade.
You'll be teaching yourself. GO TO OFFICE HOURS; IT'S THE ONLY REASON I DID WELL. Hour long "quizzes" per unit that are intense. Long homeworks that are easy to do well on. Project very unclear/frustrating, only time I was mad at him for being unreasonable. He genuinely cares about students. I'd say take him but know that it will be a commitment.
SUPER kind and reasonable guy; if you have a rough day he's more than willing to push back homework dates. Lectures aren't THAT helpful so definitely take advantage of the textbook. I don't see why he got sm bad reviews but it's prob cause people expected an easy A. You have to work hard but have a lot of resources & opportunities for extra help
This class consists of a lot of hw, quizzes and long lectures. Professor is the sweetest and wants you to learn but it depends on how much time and effort you put in the class. If you go to the lecture, pay attention, do the hw correctly and study you will do fine but it takes a lot of studying to pass. Kundu is the best though!
I took this course to fulfill a requirement but ended up almost failing, gives quizzes every week, discussion boards and he doesn't even know how to teach. I would never take this class again! Just don't !!!!! We used a lockdown browser for all quizzes and not enough time. He made us teach ourselves, he wasn't helpful at all.
Professor Kundu is the most caring professor at GWU. He always takes our feedback as a class and genuinely wants us to succeed. He has amazing lectures and although the class is very hard, he makes it enjoyable and that is the best thing a professor can do. Take his course!!!
Prof. Kundu is truly a kind and caring professor. Prof. Kundu is a wholesome person that will make your life enjoyable while having to learn stats. Difficult course, but a quality teacher.
Prof Kundu was the best professor I had in my first semester of college. He was very personable, and me being actively involved in class defintely helped my final grade. Hard class, but if you show up to class and do the homeworks, you'll do just fine. Kundu is the best STAT teacher at GW! Literally would minor in stat if he taught all the classes.
Amazing stats professor. Would totally minor in it if he taught all the stats classes. Super willing to engage with students and help, but you have to be the one to reach out. Second half of course is easier so stick with it. Quizzes on every chapter, 1-3 homeworks on each, one big project. Final isn't cumulative. Would 100% take again. So sweet.
Kundu answers questions during lecture, and he is helpful in office hours. He's very nice but does not necessarily cave to the will of students. Lots of homework and quizzes, but you don't really have to read the textbook to do well. He covers practically everything in class. The SPSS project is a bit of a pain, but he and the TAs will help in OH.
If you have any experience with Stats or Calc this class will be a piece of cake. Professor Kundu can be short tempered and gets easily frustrated. Lectures aren't super productive but he tells you everything you need for quizzes and tests. If you need the class - take it - BUT you'll constantly watch the clock during lectures.
Prof. Kundu is super sweet and a master at his field and the concepts themselves aren't too difficult. The workload, however, is a different story. Assignments take a minimum of 5-7 hours each, there are two midterms (the second of which was about 3 weeks before the final), and he assigned a project due after exams week. Suggest looking elsewhere.
Kundu thinks that his class is the only class we should be worried about, attendance decreased by every class. He assigns homework that each take 6-7 hours to complete. TA shows up late to her own OH and mumbles half of the time. Really suggest looking somewhere else.
Professor Kundu is amazing - he cares about his students, is understanding, and will always work with you to make sure you do well. Class is graded by HW, a project, participation, three exams, and quizzes (he drops lowest scores). DO NOT skip class, go to every lecture, take notes, study, and you'll be fine. He is one of the best stat profs at GW.
If you can take him for intro, do it. He cares about his students and is always willing to help. Great professor, makes you work for it though. Go to class, do the homework, and you'll be fine.
Professor Kundu is probably the best teacher of graduate level statistics I have encountered at GWU (so far). For me his teaching style was the perfect combination of guiding you through challenging, abstract topics, in class and then assigning homework that push the limits of those topics. Tough exams and twice the homework of similar classes.
Love/hate relationship with this man. Easy class content wise but I struggled with the amount of work he had us do. Acted like his was the only class we were in/should care about. First midterm is way easier than the second. Overall good prof to have for intro stats but if you can avoid this class entirely i would do it
professor Kundu is amazing. He cares so much about every student in the class. Great person overall. Class is not very hard either, very little homework and he is a generous grader. Love him and his passion for his students and teaching. One of my favorite classes despite not liking math all that much. 10/10 professor
STAT6201 & 6202 these two courses are a joke in GWU. Course goals are vague. Most of the things you learned from these two have no use in the future. They are also boring, tedious, and super difficult. Is Stat a professional or academic program? I guess Kundu himself cannot answer this.
This class was my first introduction to stats, and Professor Kundu made it very accessible. Lectures are a bit of a drag but you DO NOT want to miss them. TA was very chill and helpful. Prepare for almost weekly quizzes, that sometimes don't happen on the day Prof says they will or are complete surprises.
Very accessible outside of class and wants to make sure you are understanding everything. Quizzes are not handed back in a timely manner which can make it harder to study for the two midterms and the final.
Loved his class! Took Stats in high school and hated it, but Professor Kundu was amazing. I understood the material very well and actually enjoyed learning! He cares a lot about his students success in his class, 100% recommend having him as a professor.
Professor Kundu was a great prof to have if you are new to the field or have experience with Stats. While attendance is not mandatory, attending lectures will teach you almost everything you will need to know. Homework, quizzes, and tests are not bad. I would take this class again purely because of Professor Kundu.
He's the best, friendly, cares about students, always helps outside class. Most learning during lectures & HW. OH soo helpful. Weekly quizzes, gives topic b4(Often exactly like hw) Drops 3 quizzes. Hws give examples, multiple tries(easy to get 100). Grade composed of participation, hw, quizzes, 2 midterms, final, & project. DEFINETLY take Kundu!
Prof insisted on doing statistics the old-fashioned way like using z-tables and t-tables when all this can be done on the calculator. He also was a terrible lecturer and made topics even more confusing. However, he genuinely cares about his students and wants us to succeed. He's a very nice man but I would not take him or this class for stats.
The material is hard, but Kundu is deeply caring and genuinely wants everyone to succeed. Almost weekly quizzes, but gives the topics before. Online homework is a great way to pad your grade since you can do each question a few times. Exams are just like quizzes and in-class examples. Overall super supportive and helpful, just a great dude.
DO NOT TAKE!! Material is so hard and Prof only made the content more confusing. Take Stat 1111 instead!
first of all, i think this professor very caring, but his class is confusing. you can understand every things that he teaches in the class but literally have no idea what chapter he is teaching, feel like he is mixing up everything. also, his assignment is sometimes unrelated to the class
i loved him as a person but i did not like the class it was to hard and he honestly saw i was trying and helped me out when it came to my final grade, go to the OH engage with him pay attention in class and you are good
the prof is pretty good. his lectures are very clear. you're graded on 3 midterms, weekly recitation quizzes, weekly hw, and a final (all easy). the prof is great but damn i've never been in a class with this many illogical people before. the prof asks a lot of simple questions and nobody seems to be able to answer them. it's kinda shocking
Classes are pretty fun and he goes out of his way to make a personal connection (literally put in the slightest effort). His handouts are good, but the recitations are silly- could just be the TAs this semester. HOWEVER, he does go a little slow and we didn't end up finishing the portion for one of the midterms. Three midterms. Tests every week.
Professor Kundu is a great lecturer. If you've taken statistics class in high school, you should be fine to get an A. His lectures are relatively slow-paced and interesting. Also he will drop the three lowest quiz scores. If you are going to take an intro statistics class, I highly recommend you take Professor Kundu!
book is mandatory; I paid 60 bucks for the useless textbook, bearly read it. 3 midterms, a final, 10 quizzes, and weekly homework. such a nightmare, way toooo much workload. this course ruined my gpa. if you have to take stat just don't choose him; i'm sure there is another better option!!! I mean, come on, 3 midterms??! can't stand it.
Prof. Kundu is lovely, he learns people's names and his office hours are rly helpful. The class is easy: hws (long but 2 attempts each), quizzes are like section reviews, 3 midterms (low weight). Lectures sometimes go off-topic but otherwise, he's a great professor. Stats isn't too hard but he values interpretation and conceptual understanding
Horribly managed class, and had little to no coordination with the recitation TA's. Unclear on what was needed to be studied week to week and crammed as much content as he could into 1 semester. If your required to take this class, Balaji's section is much easier. If you're going to take this for Gen Ed, take literally any other math class.
Do not take Kundu if you are not inherently gifted at statistics. His section was far more difficult than others, and lectures did nothing to prepare students for the homework and subsequent midterms. He was condescending in office hours and when students asked questions during lectures, and he failed to provide a safe space for new stats students.
I enjoy math as a subject, so I found this class to be chill (for the most part). The StatLab HW can get very annoying and alot of questions are given. Ur graded by 3 midterms, the hw assignments, 7? quizzes from the recitations (drops 3 lowest) and one final. idk abt the other sections the previous comments speak of, but to me, he wasnt bad.
Doesn't teach anything, expects you to know about stats before the class (although it's a beginner class), gives you many test questions and the time is way too short for the amount you have to answer, genuinely doesn't know how to teach and the TA's don't really help either. Get ready to learn everything by yourself!
Professor Kundu makes stats accessible, even for newcomers. Attend lectures, do the work, and you'll be fine. The class can be a bit intense, but Kundu is understanding and unstuck ai is a great study tool to supplement the material.
Prof if very kind and clearly cares for all students, but lectures were very bad and hard to follow. He never introduced new concepts, just started doing example problems and wanted students to guess what steps to take. TA was helpful. Exams were graded with minimal partial credit. Not an easy A even though material is relatively simple.
I loved Kundu so much. He's so accessible and constantly tries to make sure his students both understand the material and enjoy the class. Lectures are not mandatory to attend but he does random pop quizzes so its safer to just go. Drops your three lowest quiz grades and applies small curves to the midterms/final.
Homework load is heavy but doable, there's a quiz every week (lowest 3 dropped) and three big exams. If you go to office hours and make an effort to have a good grade/ connect with Prof Kundu then you'll be okay. I failed all 3 exams and ended with a C that he rounded so yeah! He remembers names and gives points for asking questions in class.
