Krimm is a somewhat hard professor that gives a lot of work. She brags about her past employment in the US Defense Dept., but she can't brag about her knowledge on modern computer technologies. She could be mean like a high school teacher sometimes.
she is a very good professor. no doubt she gives lots of work but i think it helps in better understanding of the subject.
IF your majoring in Computer programming.... dont take it with her... she'll make u wanna change your major... like what happened to me... :( ... trust mee
She's a Faculty Advisor??? Interestinggg...
not a professor i would recommend...Tests are somewhat reasonable...she will make u go nuts on the labs...no help what so ever...u better know what ure doing on the labs..if not, well good luk...
Played games on my notebook in class b/c lectures were easy. Lots of work. Just busy work. Not the best teacher but i knew what i was doing so i got an A.
Her lectures are almost worthless. She talks about irrelevent things. I got an A because I already knew all this stuff. She likes to criticize your projects. Take the class online if you can. We only had 2 tests. Multiple choice.

i learnt nothing from her lecture.
Ok teacher but not the clearest with regards to assignments.

This class was such a interesting class not with this professor . I cant beleive it's over now. The whole time I was suffering. Too much homework and weird tests.
Does not help at all, either you know or you don't. Makes you feel like an S**T because you are not on her level.

I think she is the worst teacher. she isn't as clear as other teachers.she doesn't do her best to let u understand the material. DON'T TAKE WITH HER BECCAUSE SHE IS A WASTE FO UR TIME.
SHE IS THE WORST TEACHER IN THE WHOLE DEPARTMENT.DON'T TAKE HER.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!! SHE IS THE WORST! SHE THINKS SHES THE BEST TEACHER IN THE WORLD! VERY BIASED! IF YOU WANT TO TAKE A COMPUTER CLASS AND ACTUALLY LEARN AND HAVE FUN IN THEN GO WITH ANOTHER TEACHER!
This class is the only class that has ruined my GPA. She has no interest in "debugging your program for you", even tho it is her job as an instructor to help you with your lab.
Class is not easy, but she is a good teacher. 572. the subject is clear, its programming. Pay attention to her lectures and you won’t even have to read the book. Do all the home work or you will fail. To insure a good grade try the extra credit. The kids who got bad grades turned in late or no homework at all. 2 tests and about 9 homewokr/programs
She doensnt know anythink , Always She think she is the best and Very smart ! She is very selfish Dont take her class , Worst Teacher In the world I think . She wants you to be fail in her class . She is ...
She advertised herself too much, but her teaching is too poor. If you have choice don't take her class. This semester only she teaches this class. In this case if you don't need this class for graduate or transfer, read the text book is much more understandable than her lecture. Her lab classes are nightmare. She is killing us by wasting our time.
Really sharp. Impatient with people that 1)don't think quickly, 2)don't think for themselves, 3)want an easy way out. She teaches programming as puzzle solving and encourages logical thinking. When she showed her frustration, I took it as "I know you can do better", not as "you're an idiot". I learned a tremendous amount. She talks. A *lot*.
Good thing my mom is a software engineer. Without outside help, I wouldn't have done well. Don't believe her when she says you can turn somthing in later. I did that, the door was locked, and she gave me an "F" on the final project and wouldn't accept it via email. Lowered my grade at least one letter. Petty and self-righteous.
Based on the low ratings here, I almost didn't give her a chance, but I decided to see for myself by attending the first class. I'm so glad I did -- I don't even recognize my teacher in these comments. Is one bitter student posting over and over? I am finding her very pleasant, good-humored, well-prepared, clear, and helpful.
She's agood teacher I was always late about half an hour but she always review the whole materials lots of times that I learned them.
not a very good teacher--extremely derogatory. i agree with the person below. she just expects you to know everything! during the time i was taking the class she said "well, people, you've just GOT to know this" after a lot of questions that students asked. do not take her.
I don't want to sound mean or anything, but she is absolutely the worst college teacher I've had here. She moves through the material very fast and expects you to only do the work for her class and forget about your other classes and when you ask her for help, she tells you to do it yourself. Honestly believes everyone will be able to program a computer like she can.
She is the WORST and shortest teacher Trust me she is very rule nervous I think she has problem with herself also ! she told me you'll fail and get and F but its good you can try again !!!! DONT TAKE HER SHE IS NOT NORMAL
She is trite and condescending. You're much better off reading the text on your own and hiring a tutor if needed. Her class is a complete waste of time and money!!!
Great teacher, all these negative posts are from the students that do not show up to class. How can you not get a lab turned in on time in one week? Not help you debug? Sure if you write a page of gibberish and ask her to find the problem during lab time the day its due! If you are having troubble go to her office hours!
The first day was full students. After 3 weeks, they decided to drop, and only 6 students stayed with her.She is worst teacher that i ever got. She gave out "DUMB" homework. She didn't like when i collapse with my friends. She called that was cheating. But when i asked her and she never explained if i was wrong or right. DON'T RECOMMEND IT.
She teaches the same concept 20 times in a row and its about how to copy and paste. She clearly doesn't have a long enough lecture to fill the time so she just kills time. Then she tells us to complete a midterm and once we are done she told us that wasn't the correct Midterm. Horrible. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
helpful in the lab; very clear during lessons
She was hard and she favors few people and spends lot of hours with them, which I dont care. But her grading is fair. her rules are fair. Im not satisfied with the way she helps the students, but I like the way she handles the class by the rule she posted.
i took intro to c++ with doctor krimm. her class made my change my major. she doesnt give enough time to copy notes, she doesnt help you no matter what. and expect a lab every week. her tests are quite easy however. only take her if you have background on class , you wont learn much without the book and help of others.
I changed my major after taking her class. Teaches SUPER FAST, and if you ask her a question she doesn't really answer it, and kinda berates you. She knows her stuff,is VERY SMART, but sadly doesn't know how to pass that knowledge onto the students. If you know how to program, you'll do fine, else, its A LOT of work on your own, youtube helped.
Super fast when she gave the lecture. You'll need to study on ur own (text book is kinda useless. google C++ tutorial is a lot easier to understand). Lab wasn't too hard BUT give yourself enough time.(debugging ur program can take hours). Test wasn't too hard mostly basic stuff.Overall she's an ok teacher but she can be hard to deal with sometimes
This class was easy and hard at the same time. It was hard because you can get stuck debugging a VERY simple mistake for hours! The programs themselves aren't hard to do overall. I did NOT like her tests though (true/false, terminology, tricky).
The subject matter in general is hard. Lectures are a bit hard to follow unless you have some prior knowledge or experience in computer programming. Test are okay, there are only two, the midterm and final. they count for most of your grade. The labs are very time consuming and don't count for much of the grade. Take advantage of office hours.
She shamelessly caters to the dorks in the class. "Birds of a feather," I guess. -don't waste your time with this broad.
she was clear and goes over material alot but if you fall behind for some reason, you are very unlikly to recover cause she wont go back.Once shes passed the work she just tells you that u should know it by now.Been there everyday this semester fell behind on loops and she wont help me with it also more then half the class dropped.best use textbook
READ THE BOOK AND PRACTICE AT HOME. This is not a class in general, anywhere, where you can barely pay attention/not read! I saw a lot of people attempting to do that.Mrs Krimm is very nice to her A students. She is not always the best to her non-A or B students. Try to debug on your own. DO THE END OF CHAPTER EXCERCISES. Very helpful.
Took her computer science 501 class. Even though it was online, I had to meet her three times to do midterms and final. She is very clear and helpful towards her students. Just do your work, put in effort and you should be fine. She does critize a lot, so if you don't do well with critisism, you should avoid her classes.
She definitely favors the better students. Her criticism is really harsh. Collecting my lab from the returns, saw on another student's work, "This is awful! See me." It's an introductory class, so it's unproductive to tell a beginning student, "This just doesn't make any sense. Why'd you do it this way?", when they have no idea what way to do it.
Ok prof. Tricky exams! But all in all nice.
its true that she is one of the easiest teachers in the department but YOU WILL BE FAILED for that!! once you fall behind, dunt expect to catch up with the class. The first 3 weeks are easy going, but then u will find yourself trouble later on!! "SHE WIL NOT HELP YOU IN LAB"!=>tests are tricky. U will change yur major if ya take her for first year
I had to take her class twice.Baseline do your projects and the class wont be so hard.most of what I learnt was from the textbook
She starts off the semester pretty easy but you have to make sure you follow up with after everytime because she then goes off really quickly does not help that much. she does not really seem to know how to give out her knowledge to students.she hardly helps in labs and you will never get a straight forward answer.I changed my major because of her.
Not good prof. I asked her some questions that i cannot understand in class. But she just feel be bored about my question, im not sure. This is my 1st class, a easy question is very difficult for me, but she may not know
she is very confusing and also not that great of a teacher. she expects you to know everything and goes very fast, if you miss one class then your probably gonna fail. be some sort of genius or just dont take this class with this lady
On 575: Had my first W on my transcripts ever. I tried hard. Made me drop my class and made me change my major. Enough said. But she's right, computer science isn't for everybody. On 501: extremely easy in general. You don't have to attend class to learn. You'll just get bored. Better take an online class.
Very easy class. Do the practice lab 2 to 3 times, and you will get A in the exams. Her lecture are mostly summaries for the book, so it is not neccessary to attend class, unless you don't understand the book. Memorize the bold words in the book, it will appear in the exams. You'll get A if you spend some time and effort on it.
This class is a very easy course on Mircosoft Office (word/excel/powerpoint) and basic Windows functions. If you know about computers, it's an easy A. No need for book. Just a Pearsons MYITLAB account. Just don't fall behind on the work. It can be time consuming. She kind of seems to have low patience with some students. Otherwise fine.
She's too hard! No matter how hard I tried I couldn't pass the class. You have to be a freaking computer geek to even enjoy this. It's a beginning class for god sake, she expected professional upper level work. First professor at pierce that I actually hated.
I sort of love her. There are a lot of mouth-breathers that take this class and it was enjoyable to watch her disdain for it all. The entire class is online simulations through MyItLab and some reading. Exams are very simple. Assignments have some dubious grading, but there is no reason anyone should earn less than an A.
I took this class because it filled my major reqs.this proff is a horrible teacher. she knows the material but cant teach it. the class is for beginners, she starts easy then the 2nd week it becomes so difficult. her tests are tricky and programming is so hard on exams. I had to drop her class and get a W. if you can take anyone else please do.
I would not recommend Krimm. It seems like it wont be a hard class, and she is a very nice woman but her tests are insane. She makes you write code on paper, where you cant debug or test it or anything. And that is for all 3 of her major tests. This class is crazy difficult to follow along with if you have no past experience in programming.
For first time programmers it is advisory that you should study the book before you go take her class because it help me pass her class. Also, you can practice programming by downloading the compiler for free from Dream Spark. You do not need professor permission to download the compiler. All you need is your college email.
I can only speak for the online CS 501 class - Overall, I liked the learning system used by PERSON/MYITLAB. At first, it seems like it should be a piece of cake. While it's not too hard, you have to definitely know your stuff, and will need to do the practice tests before the midterms/final. You'll gain some valuable skills on Word, Excel and PPT.
Hand writing code on midterms and the final is archaic and a very poor indicator of progress. The lab grading process is an inefficient mess to say the least. Aside from that, 4/5.
The assignments are easy, but time consuming. The exams are very very difficult and she does not tell you what topics to focus on. The 1 project she gives you has poor instructions! She is hard to talk to and her teaching style is not that good. Can be somewhat mean to students, but can show mercy. Do all your homework and be polite...Good Luck!
I had her for the 501 and 575, in 501 she can be very helpful and show kindness, however in 575 she is much more strict, my advice is to practice code A LOT. The codes are not too difficult just time consuming, and like all the other reviews, the tests are HARD, you do have to write a code by hand and know vocab/syntax for all three of the tests.
The exams were tricky, but the only way to get C in this class is to do all the labs and not turning in late, make sure you follow all the instructions properly and fix certain glitches on SQL before you upload. If you are good on SQL and you want a challenge, take this class.
Do NOT take her class!!I saw the reviews before took her class.i thought i just have to try harder then i'll pass.NO WAY!!! After 2 class you have to start writing your first program.
Mrs. Krimm is a hard teacher, 1 week in and she expects you to write a 50 line program. She expects so much from the students, i thought this was an INTRODUCTORY class to c++. DON'T TAKE HER IF YOU HAVE NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE TO C++ & CODING SHE TEACHES THE CLASS AS IF YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT SHE'S TALKING ABOUT. She has low teaching skills.
Warning! This teacher is shameless and condescending, she has greater interest in gossiping about the shortcomings of students than she does teaching. Class moves too fast! She makes herself unapproachable so as to lessen her own workload, and mentally she is already retired. Awful, and upsetting, so many students avoid her, I cannot blame them...
Do not take her classes! She tells select students to avoid other students, (the impressionable ones) catering only to students who choose to brown nose. She IS NOT clear, teaches too fast, and actually has greater interest in gossiping about students. She discusses the personal events of others with her favorite students. Unbecoming conduct...
I think people are rough on her. She is old fashioned and her class moves fast, so if you didn't catch something you HAVE to speak up. She answers her emails and gives feedback. The assignments are designed to teach you a specific concept, which is nice, although its so re-used that you can get all your labs done through google searching.
You will spend TONS more time teaching yourself the material than trying to get anything out of her lectures. Her eyes will glaze over before she offers a lackluster response to any of your questions. Her tests are beyond tough and SHE WILL NOT OFFER YOU A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO FINISH THEM. Taking this class was my biggest regret at Pierce.
she is the worst teacher ever, you will not learn a thing from her so u better be good at teaching yourself. passed w A w anotherprof also if you ask her anything she will only say "this doesnt work" and if you saying..... yea i know it doesnt, so point me in the right direction, she will only ignore you and tell you to look for another career.
Worst professor Ever. Do not take her at any cost. She is so hard, tough, rigid. She do not understand student. Expect everything in her own way. She expects students to know everything. If you want to maintain your GPA, DO NOT take her.
Tough class to take if you don't know what your getting into, but she is there to help with any questions you have. Great teacher, and helped when I had problems without making you feel dumb.
She is so mean to her students and if you are ever stock on something don't even bother to ask her ,she is the best at ignoring and when she finally goes to help she doesn't really help!!! Worst class i ever had
She is very nice professor. If you take care of homework and workshop then you will pass easily may be with grade A. Highly recommended.
Good teacher for anyone that doesn't know anything about CS. She breaks things down for u. But, she is rigid and a tough grader. She's nice enough but i think people say she's mean because she can be very direct. CS teachers are not great at pierce, and because of that she is probably the best in the department to choose from.
shes pretty tough. i am not going to lie. she hardly provides help at all if not any. you basically teach yourself in this class. if you know some c++ already, then you should not have any problem in this class. i learned in this class, dont get me wrong, she just expects you to learn this stuff in one go. other than that, shes nice.
Good teacher. The class is made up of a few tests and labs. Be prepared to put extra time in to do your labs and study for tests. She lets you have a cheat sheet for tests too. Honestly if you can understand and do the labs well, then the class is easy.
She is smart and knows what she is doing. Only down side to this class is how fast it can go. What she does is teaches one thing than expects you to get it and use all of your past knowledge, which is okay if she went over the topic that she is teaching more before incorporating all of the material into the lab. It helps a lot to know code before
The subject itself is challenging. The professor is vague and sarcastic when you ask for help.
VERY SLOW AND BORING PROFESSOR. WOULD NEVER TAKE HER AGAIN
Great instructor for my style of learning. Would take a class with her again. The key to succeeding with her is effort and self-learning. If you can't handle her pace and style, that's YOUR problem, not her's. You are NOT fit for this field if you cannot handle a someone like Krimm. Find someone else to hold your hand; she already does that enough.
She would lecture and then we would go and use that information to write our labs. If you have a question in the lab she would sit next to us and explain everything. The exams are a little challenging but they are not that difficult. I didn't know much about c++ before entering and I felt okay learning in this class.
I hated her at the beginning, but tbh she's great unless you aren't willing to be humble and put in the work (or you aren't cut out for comp science)
One of the better professors in the com sci department. Not good with explaining or listening to questions. But labs are fairly easy and the midterms are based on in class problems. Listen to the tutors and take an interest in C++ and you should be fine.
Not sure why she's rated so low. Yeah she's kind of all business but she's actually a really good CS teacher. Very good at explaining concepts and super helpful in lab. I am a CS major and I strongly recommend her if you want to learn from the best.
575 is a filter; Some get it, some don't. Solid lectures with in-class practice; supplement it with the excellent Zybooks online textbook. Labs build on previous chapters nicely. Multi-choice q's on exams are annoyingly specific, but if you can demonstrate the logic this class teaches the exams are easy. 3x5 cheatsheet was allowed for our exams.
This class should not have been hard, but she made it a lot harder. She always cut the class short and left about 30min - 1 hour early. If you ask a question she makes you feel stupid and wonders why you don't know the material.
This teacher SUCKS her work ethic and attitude are so poor. This is an intro class but she teaches as if it's an advanced course. If you have a Mac you might as well not even enroll, she refuses to help you if you are struggling. She is unapproachable and never there for office hours. It is unfair to the students and she shouldn't keep teaching.
Even during a pandemic, was absolutely no help, even coming to office hours for help. There's helping someone find the answer on their own, and there's leaving them in the dark to helplessly google, with barely any tutoring resources available. Will give a 0 on labs until specs that were vague on the lab text are met. Avoid this "teacher".
Worst professor I've ever had. Tests and programs are so hard and takes points off for everything that's not her way. So finicky about attendance. Then class got worse when the pandemic started. No help. Somehow barely got a B in this class.
I learned more about her life than I did the material. Incompetent I should have seen the red flags the second she didn't know how to connect a computer to projector being a computer science major. Did not make learning enjoyable almost no point in asking any questions she will brush it off and say it is in the book. In short pointless teacher.
I took CS116 with her in Spring 2020. She was a amazing professor. She have a good feedback and take care her student. If you are pursuing in CS major you should take with her. Her class is tough ,but you will know all the basic for C++ and the way to think like a programmer. However, beware of the test and don't fall behind in the class.
I had C++ course with her. Take her class if you are really good at programing otherwise get ready for a disaster. Half of our class dropped it with W. There will be super hard midterms and final, but no advantages. You are not going to learn anything in this class.
She's a database teacher yet she doesn't know how to control her own computer. She doesn't know how to fix things on her computer, she doesn't know how to control things on her computer, she's very aggressive verbally when she replies she sounds angry, and she opens up things and assumes her students can see them.
Took her class 2021 semester and she was horrible. The way she teaches is like you are supposed to know the material already, it's an introduction class, some may know some knowledge of c++ but she doesn't show empathy for people who do not know a lick of programming.
I'm a CSUN student right now but I took her for Intro to Programming in C++ at Pierce. Please take the class somewhere else. Any books and websites are better than her. She doesn't post lectures online. Computer Science professors at Pierce College are way worse than CSUN's CS professors.
Imagine having an A all semester then suddenly your grade drops 15% because you missed one assignment in her online text book and she marked the whole textbook section as a 0. Yeah, if that's anything to go off of then please avoid at all costs. Slow lectures, never gets back to you, and tries to make you feel stupid for having any questions...
DONT TAKE HER. The material you learn is great, however, we use a program called MYITLab, where you do your hw and labs, and the grade you see there is not the same as the syllabus! She goes by the points from the syllabus and you can't see them, just a percentage on MYITLAB. I thought I had a B based on MYITLAB but I got a C. She is so rude!
The least communicative teacher I've had. Her choice of learning tool (Pearson's MyITLab) is really, painfully bad, she refuses to use the tools (Canvas) that Pierce has conditioned students to use ("DON'T EMAIL ME THROUGH CANVAS"), and she seems generally disinterested in her students and her material. Unless you need the credit, skip this one.
Worst professor I've ever had. Complains about your scores constantly. Few assignments that make your grade tank if you miss one or do poorly. Lectures are all powerpoints. Belittles the entire class. Gives little feedback outside of making you feel like an idiot.
stay away! making me almost give up on computer science!
She is not the best at teaching the material and an introductory class to such a heavy subject should be pretty clear. I dropped her class after she said "If you don't know how to deal with files, you need to take the course somewhere else but we don't teach it in this class" and then proceeds to assign a project on it.. Glendale has a good CS prof
In one word, I am extremely happy that I didn't take any major courses with her!!! Awful, No communication in response to your Email! If you take a class with her, get ready to live in her messed-up kingdom for the rest of the semester! she should retire as simple as that.
Is good at lecturing and reading off a power point on zoom. Take extreme caution asking a question as she doesn't like questions. Her labs (projects) follow VERY clear instructions. She will review labs before submission and provide feedback. insists on doing things her way like using a bubble sort instead of the sort function with no reason.
Course has good content, but is taught poorly. The only reason I'm putting a 2 instead of 1 is because she accepts late work. She sends reminder emails for upcoming tests, but is otherwise really slow to respond to emails. I got all A's on the tests, and had a 95%. I got a 94% on the final and my grade dropped to 91%.Tough class, but passable.
Not that terrible of a Professor as the reviews suggest. She is particular about how labs are done and will reject them if not done according to her instructions but if you read and follow the directions and ask for clarifications you should be good. Good amount of office hours. Provides extra credit opportunities throughout the semester.
If you put the time and effort into the work/simulations, it is a super easy class. Her instructions are clear and she posts reminders about how she wants them submitted. Make sure you read the announcements. It's a straight forward computer class, so as long as you do the work, you're pretty much guaranteed an A.
She was Unresponsible and very Slow to respond to us.
This woman is the embodiment of C++ as a programming language. She's intense, direct, and bordering on brutal, but the payoff is incredible as long as you put in some effort. She teaches the type of early-computing wisdom that I worry may be unavailable to future generations. If you're an aspiring greybeard, take her class.
She is quite difficult when it comes to lectures. If you ask a question and she strays off topic and another student asks a question following the direction of the conversation she will at times raise her voice and interrupt the student asking the second question. Her intentions may see good but her attitude and method of teaching may say otherwise
susan krimm sorta sounds like grimace shake
She's an okay professor.I didn't really enjoy her lectures, but she genuinely wants students to learn the material. If you attend class and pay close attention, the labs shouldn't be too difficult.Having a bit of prior knowledge in computer science helped me.Her expectations for labs are very specific, and she wants them done exactly as instructed.
The professor expects a lot and can be quite demanding, but if you stay on top of the work and use resources like Unstuck study for study prep, you can get through the class. It's challenging, but doable if you put in the effort.
This teacher requires you to pay for an extremely expensive class that she teaches on and grades unfair. I had to drop this class because of the crazy amount of assignments and long quizzes. Do not recommend!
I had to drop because it was too much homework and too confusing. I have zero computer skills, and her work is all over the place. The textbook you have to buy was 145$. I'll retake the class, but not with her. Just be prepared to really study and you should have prior knowledge.
She's very rude. She does not help and expects you to know some programming. Her lectures are confusing, and the quizzes also. Just don't take her.
