He is very easy going teacher and nice man.
Very patient, helpful. He's there to teach & wants the students to understand. Easy tests, explained topics clearly. Excellent.
He explains the topics clearly, just pay attention in class and you should do well on the exams. He has a lot of patience and is kinda funny. Covers the basic topics in statistics, doesnt go in depth, good if you are not majoring in Stat.
He is hard to understand, I have to learn the stuff on my own and I took Statistics already but this Prof. makes it really confusing. I guess if you have extra time on your hands to learn basically everything on your own, than take this Prof.
he's really easy and helpful
This is one of the worst professors I have had at Baruch. He's always late for class, he shows up unprepared and doesn't provide a sufficient review for the exams. The textbook is the only useful source as he, as well as his class notes, are unclear. Please try to take another professor if you ca
Best professor, best teacher ever had. Very Nice and cool guy. I wish if he was my father. You can learn many things from him, not only Stat.
if you are not einstein- take him. his exams are simple applications of formulas, which he gives to you during the exam. you do not have to understand any concepts to get an A. those who complain, probably are those obnoxious, rude dudes, who sit in the last row and disturb everybody else in class.
no project, one homework, two midterms, one final. just come to class is not enough. it's easy concept but in exams he asks something "easy" but haven't heard of during class. study yourself!
all i can say is thank god this class is over. this guy cant teach! he always tried to convince us that he's easy but hes not!! i learned EVERYTHING the day b4 the final...u have to study on your own to pass this class.
Can't teach plus has a very bad accent. Impossible to understand anything he says. Makes it seem like he tries to make the class easy but in reality screws you with the tests. Very subjective grader so make sure he likes you. Get tests from other semesters cuz they are very similar and you'll be ok.
This is a VERY easy prof. You have 2 midterms and 1 final with 1 hw. The tests are very easy. All you have to know is which formula to apply. He puts the formulas on the board during the test so you don't have to remember anything. Easy A if you have half a brain. Pay attention in class though.
Point is not of being VERY easy. Going to class is pointless if there is nothing to learn. I like D if I learn something in a class than easy A.
Take it from me. Good and nice professor. Easy A.
the best...........
can only understand 20% of his English. doesn't ask and remember student's names so there's no need to please him. can't learn anything. always made mistakes in class examples. you teach him how to do the arithmatic!
The best teacher to take if not majoring in stats. Very easy and understandable and curves the test. Gives formula during exam and u just need to noe which formulas to use. I failed more than three times in math and I'm gettin a B in his class. EASY!
no comments. He can't teach. He is easy but as somebody said, what's a point in getting easy A if u don't understand what's going on.Just plugging the numbers in the formula given at the blackboard is not a typical approach for smart Baruch students.U wanna easy pass? take him. Wanna prove ur ability?go for someone else.
I took him in the spring 05, he is ok..not that great..he runs out of class..his class is like 45 minutes...yeah he gives the formulas, but how can you plus the numbers into a formula if u dont kno which formula to use....i gotta B..take him cuz u need a break from the all the other classes, this is is not as much pressurized.
take it from me he's not that easy! he pretends to be nice an easy going but in reality he's a jack*** can't teach, can't speak english, can't do **** except screw you with your grade. dont take him
What the F? Everything went fine until the final. Hard to understand, occasionally funny. Runs out the door after classes. The final will kill you. Don't let his charm fool you.
This guy is the man.. He was a nice and funny guy. The material was manageable. For the final he let us take out certain topics that we didn't like. I definetly recommend him.
He taught us the minimum from the book, but it was much better to read it than to listen to him. The tests are not hard if you study on your own, and do some of the problems from the book. The class usually ended before scheduled time, but it was not so bad during summer.
even though I love STA,I got a bad grade because of this prof.He won't do any example in the class and will expect alot from you in the exams.(final will kill you).
How come Baruch lets this person teach.I had my worst class in my life. He killed my GPA without teaching any thing.
best one easy a-
best opr prof. took him this summer and got an A. very easy exams no review sheet for exam but you ll know exactly what s comming. very flexible with students I desagree with previous comments so unfair to this profbcs he really tries his very best to teach you the bottom line. highly recommended!!!!
very good prof and kind of funny to. he only test you on computations a lot and few conceptional which is good bcs the computations deals only with plag and play with formulas which he provides for exam.opr can be very hard but he makes it very easy. highly recommended!!!!
Overall a good professor. I just got an A from him. He explains the main things, and his exams only cover the formulas. The midterm was fair. The final was very hard but he curved it so it evened out. Take him, he cuts out a lot of crap that many other OPR classes deal with. Kind of funny too.
Very nice professor and very down to earth. He knows what he is talking about, gives you points only if you know the process. His syllabus is limited but he makes sure that you learn those.
OPR is the kind of class that can be hard for some and come naturally to others. That being said, Osahan is a pretty good professor (also funny). Not a fan of the grading system and 1 pt. off test = 1 pt. off your average. Also, expect one killer test so he can create a curve. Just go over the problems he assigns and study, you'll be fine.
The content that he teaches is very simple. If you pay attention in class, you won't have a problem doing the test. He gives curves when the whole class requests it. Take notes of what he writes on the board. Very fashionable teacher, his turban matches his shirts!!! Overall, he's a very sweet teacher, easy going, easy A. No need to buy txtbk
Pretty easy, but you don't seem to grasp all that the class should be. Really easy. Hardly have to study to get an A, although his tests are all formulas. Don't need textbook.
He is the easiest prof in baruch..take him.. u wont regret...
YEA, RIGHT!!!????? No way people, not the best like everyone keeps claiming. He "simplifies" the material, yes, but then his exam covers all the complex ones... a few people pass with good grades but the rest, the majority, pass with terrible grades, passing, but terrible (in the range of D to C+...) it depends but I would not recommed him!!!!
I don't know if it was me, but I have to drop him. People say he is easy but you need to be a freaking genius to pass his class. His midterm was freaking diffficult. It is true he narrows down the material but then his exam covers stuff he never mentioned in class, a total surprise. Based on the midterm, and I spoke with him, I am forced to drop
not at all recommended
He is good prof., simplifies the material., as long as you the work you will do great. All that he covers in class is on the test. He is not hard but not as easy. You must do homework to do well in his class. Tests are based what he covers in class and on hw. Good class to balance with hard classes like accounting.
my friend asked me how he is, so i told him and i decided to tell you guys too. at the beginning he was a good professor, he made the class seem so easy, saying he will leave all the unnecesary info out and when he gave the midterm it was ALL there. long story short, im appealing with the chair to drop his class (for the past 2 week) hopefully i ca
His class is not hard, he is easy, however don't let that fool you. his final was a little difficult, because he made it cummulative and he expects you to remember everything. Overall I think he was fair.
Funny professor. class is easy. lazy student with no time should take his class.
The best and easiest professor I had in buruch. He is funny and very helpful
Easiest professor in the World. take him.
THE WORST PROFESSOR EVER!NOT EASY AT ALL!SAID WE CHOOSE THE FINAL.CUMULATIVE OR NOT BUT THEN HE DECIDED AND MADE IT CUMULATIVE. CANNOT TEACH AT ALL.FUNNY BUT DOES NOT HELP YOU PASS THE CLASS.UNFAIR PROFESSOR.DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!MIDTERM AND FINAL WERE HARD. HE CANNOT TEACH WELL SO YOU ARE ALWAYS LOST.HORRIBLE PROFESSOR!!
He is a very nice and funny teacher. He simplifies the material despite his heavy accent. He only tests you on the material he covers. Just pay attention to what he emphasize, you'll get an A. Do the homework because he counts them towards your class participation. If you just pay attention and listen in class, he's very clear. Highly recommended.
Easy A if you come to class and pay attention. His tests are very straightforward.
I took him for the summer session. REALLY EASY. He usually cuts class over an hour early. Problems on the exams come straight out of the class and he tells you so. You can study the day before the exam and get an A.
I never had a class as easy as this ever before. You just need to pay a little bit attention during the class, then you will be fine. Becasue he doesn't have the book this semester, he makes the class very very easy.
makes this class easy on students, not too much work, no homework, tests are easy and not too demanding. Would recommend if you want an painless good grade with little work.
Although pleasant as a person, I would not recommend this professor to anyone who seeks clarity and structure in the classroom.
the class was super easy. Dont take it if you want to learn. You learn very little from this class but can get good grades. As a professor, he fails cuz he doesnt want to teach and doesnt know how and what to teach but he gives you good grades. What you say?
Class is pointless & you will learn close to nothing. He grades easy though. Boring material... boring lecture. He grades easy though. Get the idea? :P
If you want to learn something, don't take him. If you want an easy grade, he's your professor. VERY boring class - completely pointless.
such an EASY professor. I don't understand why so many people complain about how boring he is or his accent. first off stats IS a boring subject and his accent is kindda comical. He's great, hw questions are on the test. so just memorize the answers.
He is a very easy professor as long as you come to class and pay attention. He tells you exactly what is on the exam. His accent might through some people off. Overall, if you want to boost your GPA, take him.
He can't control the classroom during tests. First test is a joke. Second test and final is crazy, but he gives huge curves. Take him if you want an easy A.
Osahan is a very nice and easygoing professor. He grades VERY leniently, and will not take off more than 1-3 points EVEN if you get the entire answer wrong. Show work in the tests and you'll be fine. First two tests are easy; the final was as hard as Frodo trying to destroy the ring at Mordor LOL!! Even bombing the final, I got a B in the class.
He cannot teach, cannot speak, pretends to be fuuny. Sooo unclear in his teaching style!!!! Don't take him!You will hate yourself for taking him..
terrible professor. he makes things confusing as hell and nobody knows what he is talking about half the time...he is a lenient grader but i'd rather be in a class where i know whats going on then flunk but hope for him to grade easy.
Have to get pass the accent. He's not so bad. Easy grader. Come to class and pay attention. Text really not necessary.
The tests are extremely hard if u don't study. The final is worth like 50% of the grade so messing that up means u're in deep****. Watch out for the exams, the problems he does it class is not the same as the ones on the final, the ones on the final are more complexed. I got a B+ from reading the textbook myself, studying yourself is a must.
He is one of the laziest professors I've ever had, confuses more than teaches. Curves heavy but you have to study everything on your own. Stays clear of explaining difficult problems that he later puts on the test. Makes you feel like everything is easy but screws you on test day. Avoid if possible, you will regret taking him come finals time.
Very common sense approach. He gives everyone a chance to do very well by mostly asking questions were you simply have to plug-in the numbers, and also warns students that they may end up more confused if they try to understand the concepts.Skips complex stuff. If your IQ is offended by that, there's a wealth of sta info online. Lenient grader.
You will not learn a thing in this class. Hard to understand. But, you can do nothing all semester and still get a decent grade because he curves a lot.
Must take. He's extremely kind and always positive and wants all of his students to get A's. Very lenient grader. And he allows formula sheet which you can edit. I admit tests aren't that easy, but just get somewhere like 15/20 on his exams and do the assignments and participate and you will get an A easily. TAKE HIM FAST.
Very easy Professor, easy grader. He is very funny. take his notes and do HW (it isn't a lot) and you will get a good grade.Curves the exams. Recommended.
If you can do weekends, TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Show up to class, if you don't attend, make sure you study two weeks before exams (not two days before), especially for the final study well before it. Just try your best and you get a good grade, even if you don't deserve it. Just study well before the exams (midterm and final) and you will be fine
I flunk the final and I still received an A- . Great Professor when it comes to grades. Pay attention on the questions he does in class because similar questions will show up on the exams. Take him.
Good professor. Took his class over the weekend and it was great. attendance is not mandatory however is recommended for weekend class cause if you miss one class you miss an entire chapter. Must do all the HW cause those are points he counts towards the final grade and the best part is: HE CURVES. All in all it was a fun class.
Don't miss the class. pay attention on what he teached in the class. Do homework, it helps alot. I got A. Take him.
He's a very fair grader, stresses that it is only an intro stats class and therefore skips over certain topics. Very genuine guy, although, don't take this class if you want to actually major in statistics. got an A
He is a nice professor..if you pay attention in the class and study you will do well...
This is guy is the man! Funny in a way, must attend each lecture as the exams are relevant to them.
very good professor and helpful..just need to work on his english...then it will be easier for studens to understand him
The midterms are easy, but the final was departmental and were not prepared for it. The final is difficult, but it was curved. He has a heavy accent making him difficult to understand at times. Not helpful keeps repeating that he is an adj prof and if we have any questions to go to the department.take someoneelse if yiu want to learn at least smtg
Prof. Osahan is very nice, funny, and cool. His teaching style is very clear and he goes in a steady- slow pace. There are 2 exams (25%) and 1 final (40%), which is very hard (made by dept.). Fortunately, I think he curve. But you must study and you will def. do well. I recommend him.
Cool guy with a good sense of humor. There are a few midterms and a final, as well as some online homework but you don't really have to do it. Midterms are easy as long as you show up to each class bc he teaches exactly what's on it. Final is tricky because it is NOTHING like his midterms, it's much more difficult. Go to tutoring for that
He has a very strong accent which makes it difficult to understand, when he goes through material its not clear step by step, i really make the effort to understand but still left clueless, a positive thing would be that hes really kind
Statistics is a tough topic on its own, Professor Osahan makes it very simple. His accent is a little difficult at first but you get the hang of it. The guy is hilarious and really does his best to simplify the topic. Excellent guy and great teacher, but the class is difficult
good and clear enough to pass with a good point.
STA 2000 is hard. Osahan and his accent don't make it easy. 2 midterms (remotely easy with good studying) and one final (extremely hard, but he curves like crazy). The final was nothing like the first 2 tests at all (seriously, the question format changed, got tougher, etc). Thought I failed the final with tons of studying. He curved a lot I guess.
He is a terrible professor. Do not expect to learn anything. His accent makes it impossible to understand the material. He does not give any feedback, and his lectures are extremely long and boring
2 midterms, and 1 final - he designs everything himself and is a great teacher! slightly hard to understand because of the accent but overall I would definitely take him again. He also doesnt keep everyone forever in the 3 hour sessions, people are out within 1.5 hour.
Get over it with the accent, if anything the accent makes you play closer attention :p Easy professor, very fair, cares that his students pass. Available after class for extra help if needed. Have to buy the textbook and my stat lab package. My stat lab is a pain but it can help you do better in the course. He puts review q's on blackboard
Attending his lectures are a must. Since the professor usually covers about 2 chapters per lecture, missing even one will leave you behind (I learned the hard way). DO NO SLACK OFF IN THIS COURSE. It is needed for Zicklin and what we learn is very useful for when we enter the labor force (regressions, deviations, distributions, confidence-interval)
He does have a strong accent so those who can't learn with that I suggest to find some one who suits you. He teaches very well to where you understand. If you study and practice problems at home you will pass! He does lots of problems and many examples. His test questions come from the final math review sheet , not same questions but same steps.
Professor Osahan is a great professor. He makes sure you understand the material and will take questions. Just take notes during his lectures and study them as well as my stats lab.
Ok, his accent isn't that terrible. You may need clarification on a word or two but you'll get it after. Homework is given online, just do it.2 test and a final. Doing homework may help you past the test. Nice person and wants you to understand. ask questions if you do not understand.
He doesn't explain concepts very clearly. He says he is open to any questions, but then berates students if he feels he already explained the topic sufficiently. This is an introductory course, stop telling the students it is all very simple. These concepts can be challenging for those who are new to it. Also, no visual aids during lectures.
His exams are very tricky. Bad at teaching, you will not be able to understand his heavy accent. Lectures are boring, too many life stories
He seems very good at first, but the more we progressed into the chapters the more confusing he is. 2 tests which are very manageable and a final that is significantly difficult but was curved. His accent is bearable but he was a bit scattered in lectures and I didn't receive much clarification on the subjects even when asked on the harder topics.
lectures are practically useless, be prepared to teach yourself. he uses 30 to teach and then says u can leave. as long as u sign ur name on the sign in sheet ur good to go and u can dip. just make sure u learn how to use the z and t charts , overall not the worst but u have to put in work. kahn academy....
2 midterms, 1 final. around 8 hws total on mylab which was esp annoying but manageable. tbh i didnt pay attention in class but did well on midterms bc i reviewed the ppts. final was hard so make sure u know how to do problems and be able to use and apply certain numbers on excel bc thats most of the final. boring class but lets u out 30mins early.
He is a great Professor. He was very understanding. He was very lenient and accommodating. He always replied back to emails and was there when we needed help. He made sure we understood everything. I defiantly recommend that you take him for your Statistics 2000 course. You aren't gonna find a better professor than him!
It's college so get ready to do some work, was very accessible and quick to respond outside of the class. He was also very understanding about whats going on in the world and would try to help students out as much as possible with deadlines and making everyone's life easier. Study the exact context he gives you and you'll do great.
Caring Professor. Wants his students to do well. Homework on my lab which is easy. Midterm and final on Pearson as well. Didnt study as much, but since he is helpful and caring, he will make sure you pass with a good grade.
I ended up with a B which I'm very thankful for, but man was this a rough semester. Two tests which make up 45% of your grade , and then a final which is cumulative and pretty rough (but since it was online you luckily have your notes with you so its doable). Lectures were a waste of time because he's not very good at explaining the concepts...
Statistics is just a hard subject. He used presentations most of the time. He turns off the lights and has an accent (didn't think it'd be an issue but it was) so it's hard to follow along. Online textbook and hw. Tests were difficult to prepare for, and the final was nothing like the previous exams or hw. He's nice but bad at explaining.
Grade based on 8 homeworks worth 15% of the grade, two midterms 25% each and the final 35%. Very aware of how the class is doing - when the class did badly on the first exam he did a 10% curve. Not very good with technology. Has a heavy accent so he is not easy to understand, but he will try to understand you. Answers emails. Good guy!
if you need sta2000 prereq, take him. no attendance, and the class is just a few homework and tests that you can figure out online.
Two midterms based on his slides. The final was online which was similar to the practices questions. I don't know how I got an A- because I got 75 on both midterms. He gives good curves. Also, he lets you out early.
Really nice professor except he doesn't know how to teach. The class could have been a lot easier, you can probably take a better professor
The professor is okay, he is nice but his lectures are not very helpful & he has a accent that was sometimes hard to understand. I would suggest reading the textbook & teaching yourself. The exams were curved heavily which helped save my gpa. Take him if you are willing to teach yourself since he is nice & is always willing to help review
He might have a thick accent that's hard to understand at times, but he's great nonetheless. He wants his students to do well and is always available outside of office hours. Curved the final way more than he should've. TAKE HIM!
Not the best professor, but very generous on curving the grades. The slides were helpful in my opinion. There were only few homework for my class, all of which are unlimited attempts. Tip: do practice exams at least twice before each midterm, because it helps you solve the exam Qs much quicker. Learn to use statcrunch/excel, trust me very helpful.
Not good. Didn't learn anything at all. But as the overall classes have done a good performance didn't recieve any curve in the final that was the reason to miss A. Basically, you have to teach yourself to get good scores.
Well, not a good professor for Stats. I barely learned anything through his lectures. It was pretty much a self taught course. He has a thick accent, which makes it a bit difficult to understand him. He curves exams, but not the final, which can really impact your grade. i would consider taking another professor for this class.
test online. U need to learn on your own because of his thick accent, nice guy tho. very sweet. Attendance isn't mandatory. wouldn't take again because I had to learn on my own. Easy A if you've taken stats in HS. I didn't and was stressing.
Has an accent that is hard to understand. Hard class
He was nice, but I could barely understand his lectures due to his accent. He went through the material at a very fast pace, and I quickly fell behind- the material is hard to self-teach. I understood that he gives a curve, but I feared for my GPA and didn't want to risk failing after the first 2 exams, so I withdrew.
He seems like a nice person, but his teaching style is quite difficult to follow. He has a thick accent and moves through the material quickly, which makes understanding harder. While he does curve generously, I would have preferred to grasp the material better. Depending on the person, self-teaching only goes so far.
Chill class, 2 midterms, 1 cumulative final, and 7 homework assignments. Going to his class doesn't matter ngl as he posts slides on brightspace. If you do go to his lectures he shows you how to use Statcrunch. Do the practice tests multiple times and you'll pass the exams easily as the midterms and final were just alike.
The professor has a thick accent, but if you engage with the material and utilize helpful resources like unstuck ai, you can learn a lot. Attend lectures, read the textbook, and take advantage of the generous curve.
He has an incredibly thick accent that is difficult to understand however, he does curve your final grade generously. Take him only if you are a good self-learner.
Good professor, all of the homework and 3 exams (including the final) are online. He teaches you how to do the work both manually and on StatCrunch (basically Excel) He had a attendance sheet but it wasnt actually apart of the syllabus so.. Very easy class though, he does have a accent but he tries his best and got jokes. Overall great professor
He does have a thick accent, but he is very accommodating. He makes many jokes to keep everyone entertained, and class always ends early! The exams are simple, but do not take them for granted.
The teacher's lectures leave you with little understanding of the course material. You will have to teach yourself with the class textbook. Lectures are not engaging, and repetitive. The teacher does not prepare you well for the exams. Good luck.
