wow, she has a very odd personality and does not convey her expectations well at all. If you were ever taught anything about how to write a paper, throw it out before you take her.
She is a very easy grader. Has a different style of writing that is not diffcult.
Don't listen to the last person. She's a fine teacher! If you do not understand something, ask and she will help. She is very friendly. Only one problem-- hard to get over an 87% for some reason. :) !
She will always go out of her way to help you with anything. But no matter what I do, even if I think it is the best paper, she always grades tough. But be thankful if you have her bc she is very good at what she does.

Ms. Fisher is awesome. She is funny and makes class interesting. She is serious about her class and she will make you learn. But if you are willing to work hard, she is a great teacher.
I took Suki about 4 years ago for Eng 1A. I am graduating in December as an English major and trust me when I say that the things I learned in her class have served me well for the past 20 or so English classes I have taken for my major. She is awesome!
She is very helpfull if you shoe some intrest.
really easy, odd personality but it makes the class interesting. nice lady!!
She's great, take her class. She answers all questions asked and will be sure to make everything clear for you. To get above an 87% is difficult when you don't have her critique your essays before handing them in. Anyone that found this class impossible to get an A should go back to the second grade
Suki was awesome. This class was about 6 essays and I wrote them all the night before and never brought one in to critique. The essays all have interesting topics (she made us write an essay on a tabloid story) and you get extra credit if your essay makes her laugh. She also tells fun storys.
If you don't know your stuff, she will be the first to tell you. She is a good teacher but seems to get a little irritated during the 7 to 10 evening class.
I'm a senior & she is the lousiest teacher I have had at Saddleback. She does not teach you anything!Directions are VERY unclear and expects you to know what she wants. Very difficult grader, tests are extremely difficult, she always shares lame family stories. Do not expect to get a A in her class.
I don't know what's wrong with the last person, Suki is awesome. She makes it very clear on what she expects and wants from her students. Suki made me a better writer, and more importantly, a better person... :) Her approach to teaching is refreshing, and I will definitely be in her 1B class.
Suki is the bomb. If you guys want to take a great english course take it with her. She is funny and you will positively not fall asleep. Her essay's are fun, and she has one of the best sense of humor I have ever met in a prof. Good luck
what a cutie. She is an awesome teacher. I wish i could take her again.
Take her.....even if you think you are a good writer she will cause you to improve.
She is one of the best teachers I ever had!!! Not only does she teach well but she made me become a better and an improved writer. She can be quite funny sometimes but she is often boring. Her class is easy in my opinion so I got an A. I highly recommend her.
If English isn't your thing she's great. It's not hard, but just do the work and you'll get an A or B.
She was great! She has a very good sense of humor and really taught us great critical thinking skills that definitely help to write more convincing arguments in papers for any of your classes.
horrible teacher, said that i was failing...and she wouldn't help me and she said it in front of the whole class...and she marked me absent 20 times when i never missed a class...she weighs too heavily on attendence when we don't do anything in class but read and it has nothing to do w/the essays were assigned....
Sukilicious was great. The work is straightforward and anyone with an IQ greater than a rock should be able to do well. I was entertained by her stories and off-topic rants, and I particularly enjoyed her exceptional wit. Those who has given negative comments about her or the grade they received may want to consider taking special education courses
fun class. easy B, no joke. she has a huge b range
best teacher. changed my life.
Great teacher. Funny, nice, helpful and really there for her students. Take her for any English class!!
SUKI FISHER! That's all I have to say. Wait no, I can say more. Like the others who had good things to say, I too must give nothing but Summa****Laude to Suki. She molded my futile lump of clay of a mind into a machine. I write better, I think better, and best of all, I look better because of her! If you really want to learn, Suki is for you...ki
Someone else said it best - even if you think you're really good, she will make you better. She challenges you, but is fair. Great personality too.
Great teacher...Thought me alot of what I thought I already knew...I'm taking her 200 class next semester and I'm looking forward to it.
This class was awesome and i would recommend anyone take her! She is nice, helpful, and hilarious!! I didn't exactly get the grade i wanted but i left the class with a better writing style and a had fun while doing it! I want someone, someday, to recieve a powerbar sticker!!!! she is AWESOME!!!!
Not hard to follow. DO the homework and you will pass. She taghut me a lot. I was the worst ever at writing now I am not half bad. Liked her so much I plan on taking her for 1A
If you are looking for an A. Do NOT take her class.
very helpful teacher. really changed my life for what she did for me. i recomment anyone to take her 1a class. its 5 outside class essays. a midterm and final which are both essays and 2 in-class essays. she is very nice, and explains what she wants. ask her and do what she says because it will help you and your grade.
This class was hard. She grade really hard on the midterm, final and the essays. You have to do the readings because she gives reading quizzes. She talks very fast. Everything she says is on the midterm, final and the readings. You also have to give a presentation, too. She expects the class to participate. If you want an A, don't take this class.
Very nice and hilarious! She is very helpful and clear about what she expects from you. You will see an improvement in your writing by the end of the semester! Great English Teacher!
She is good. Hard grader but lovable at the smae time. I would take her again
Best teacher I've had so far. The main assignments were 5 essays & 3 in- class essays. Other than that, just some simple in-class assignments. She can really improve your writing & she is very helpful. The best part, she's really funny and she brings up discussion topics that are interesting, and engaging. I very much, enjoyed her class.
Very funny and sweet. She made you work for the grade but was very helpful.
She is absolutely an awesome teacher. I had my schedule picked out for the following semester and I changed it once I found out she was teaching 1B. Very clear on directions and she's HILARIOUS! She's a tough grader but you will walk away having learned something. Definitely recommended.
She has a great personality. Always made class interesting and enjoyable for us. She grades hard;but I'm learning a lot about how to be a better writer.
Awesome teacher, funny and a very enjoyable and social class. Yes, she is a fairly tough grader, but try hard on the essays and you should do fine. I would take this teacher again and reccomend her to everyone.
Amazing teacher. Not an easy A but when writing is something you need in future classes dont you want to learn how to be better at it? And she really does help a ton. I uesd to be awful at writing but with her help and me trying I am getting way better. TAKE HER SHE IS WORTH IT
It is a childrens lit class. It was really cool to go back and read books I read as a kid and see how diffrently they seem now. You do alot of analizing of childrens book but she helps alot. Super fun class you do have to do work though but all worth it in the end. It is tranfurable to state schools. Its way fun. She likes class participation.
At first I really liked her class. she trys to be helpfull, but not at all. You end up dreading to go to class, becuase you do the same thing everytime. And is a super hard grader, no matter how much you are inproving. I HIGHLY suggest not taking her class.
i loved taking Suki's shakespeare class in Oxford this last spring. I highly recommend taking any classes with her. she is hilarious and really loves what she teaches.
Great teacher. Sure its not an easy A but she helps you a lot and she can be funny. Take her if you actually want to learn something.
Suki Fisher is an amazing professor. I had her for English 1B, English 27, and English 18. She is super funny and makes everyone want to write better and learn more. If you don't take her you will get stuck with a boring professor who won't remember your name!
LOVE HER! best teacher ever. i definitely would take her for English 1 A she is so helpful and so much fun! she is extremely passionate about what she does and makes learning fun. she helps you improve so much! it's not the easiest A if you don't want to try though.
Loved her. She does a great job building you up for the assignment and the essays are always about yourself. Good sense of humor. Very easy to get help from. If you want to improve your writing take her class!
She is amazing. Super smart and funny! Her notes are really helpful on how to become a better writer. Take her. Take her. Seriously, take her.
Great teacher and very helpful. You mostly write essays in the class. She explains everything very well. She actually reads everyones essays and gives notes and tips on how they can improve it next time. One of the best teachers I've had.
Great teacher and very helpful. You mostly write essays in the class. She explains everything very well. She actually reads everyones essays and gives notes and tips on how they can improve it next time. One of the best teachers I've had. I would definitely recommend her.
One the best teachers I've ever had. She makes you work for your grade which makes you actually learn something. She really knows what she is talking about and is really one of the most intelligent teachers I've ever had. I enjoyed going to her class a lot.
she is a great teacher and keeps everything really interesting! he class is a little hard because she is a writter herself so she looks at everything. if you like to write this class is the one for you because you write at least 8 papers at home and about 4 in class. she was very helpful and funny! great class!
I took her for the 8 week grading period, and there are a lot of essays. She really helps you to improve your writing though, and she's entertaining in class. I would really recommend her! Especially if you're trying to transfer!
5 3-page essays, 2 in-class handwritten essays, plus mid-term and final (also in-class, handwritten essays). Lots of group stuff, but no big deal. Fun class. Funny teacher. Tough grader, though. You'll work hard for a good grade.
Got to show up. Book is needed for a few readings and in class, but otherwise a waste of money.
Fun, difficult class. There is lots of writing involved, and Miss Fisher does not give students anything they don't earn. Lots of enjoyable discussions about writing. If you want to learn and try hard, take this class. If you are looking for an easy A and don't want to work hard, take a different instructor.
Tough grader. The mid-term and final are essays hand-written in class. She wants to help you learn to write well, and the comments she writes on your papers are very helpful. No group projects (except some minor in-class stuff) and no oral presentations. She's funny and interesting. You'll like her and you won't be bored. Highly recommend.
I LOVED THIS CLASS. i am good at english so i got a good grade. might be harder for people that normally get Cs and low Bs. most of your essays are about yourself and your opinions on things. no responses to literature. you must come to class though. shes nice.
She cares about her work. She is intelligent and interesting. She is very fair and she will meet you at your level. I have problems with in class writing, but she gave me A's on my essays for the quality of the writing and the honest effort, even though my essays were incomplete.
TOUGH grader. LOTS of homework. Makes everyone read out loud and answer textbook questions in front of class. Attendance is mandatory along with ALL homework to receive a passing grade. She is willing to help students that want to learn and can be very patience. Has a weird and different sometimes offending sense of humor. She does love to teach an
Can be a tough grader, assigns lots of homework. She had so much patience for students wasting her time this semester. You can tell she loves to teach and wants her students to succeed. If you show up to class, complete all your homework and do your best she will have no problem passing any student. Learned a lot in her class this semester.
Good teacher with good sense of humor. Must have good attendance. Shes tough but pretty fair.
I loved having Suki as a professor. I took two of her classes years ago and having just finished my bachelors I can honestly say she is one of the best professors I've ever had. She truly helped me enhance my writing skills.
amazing teacher. Shes the best english teacher I've ever had. Show up write your papers and put in a little effort and you will get at least a B
Kind of boring, lets students speak out of turn all the time, and has definite favorites. The class got easier as the semester dragged on, but she is a hard grader
Completely unreasonable, adds random quizzes that are not listed on the syllabus, then won't allow you to make it up. Favors the males in the class, and when you take her suggestions for writing, it will not lead to a better grade. Very disappointed, and learned nothing in her boring course. Waste of my time.
I have had only one other professor as good as Prof. Fisher. Take her class, or languish in the hell of talking heads, arbitrarity and hit-and-run grammar rules that abound in other soi-disant english classes.
Best English teacher I have ever had. Funny, interesting, helpful, and grades fairly. I would recommend her to anyone.
Professor Fisher is a Great Teacher! I came into this class not wanting to learn anything, or write anything; but after forcing myself to try, I realized how much I enjoyed writing! She is a great teacher for grammar, and very funny in class.
LOVED LOVED LOVED this class & Prof. Suki as well. She was delightful in her teaching, funny at times, and was very accommodating. Would take her for 1A if she was teaching it! Great class, i def improved in my writing and learned a lot. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Suki Fisher is the professor who sparked my interest in writing. She's funny, smart and intelligent, and will help you with anything you are having trouble with. If you do all of the writing assignments and reading you will pass. Don't be afraid to ask questions. I'm taking her for all of my English classes; including one next semester.
Loved this class. Offers new insights and critical thinking to children's lit. Funny, smart, sarcastic, and extremely helpful. Highly recommend taking any of her classes.
Loved this teacher. Didn't have a clue what to expect but learned so much about what I took for granted in the history of children's literature.Due the readings-pop quizzes! Very enjoyable lecturer. BIG semester group project. Midterm & Final are multiple essays in class. Points for attendance.I'd take her again. Awesome insights in so many areas.
Pretty easy class. The class is eight weeks so its quite a bit of work but it goes by so fast its great. Hardest part is reading the side book, its so boring and long but theres a quiz on them weekly. Grading wise when I felt I wrote a crap paper id come out soaring with an 85% I guess she grades easy. B in the class would have got an A if noquizes
As an English major I must say that Professor Fisher was the most helpful and understanding English professor I've ever had. She was very helpful and clear in what she expects from you as a student. Go to class, ask questions, and put forth an honest effort and you'll pass her class with no problems.
She is a great teacher, but she is hard on grading homework and essay. Be sure to do the homework if you want to get an A.
TERRIFIC teacher! Class never felt like class, more like a conversation. She is very clear and fair. Grades essays quickly and not much other homework other than some short reading once in a while. She's very funny and on your level. Come to class and give an honest effort and you'll do great.
Honors. Was an ok teacher. English is not my interest but I got an A because I did what she asked for in the prompts, try to incorporate everything she says and you'll do fine. She herself is an attractive smart woman, English is kinda boring, but she makes it interesting. Only one essay was "honors" material. I'd probably take her again for 1B.
I'm SURE that she is different for higher classes, but for english 300 she does not make you feel respected at all. Will often stop in the middle of teaching something you're interested and tell you that what she was about to say does not matter in this class, and drop the subject, leaving you wondering, and unprepared for future classes
I was genuinely sad to leave her class. Professor Fischer really makes the classroom environment exciting and she has a ton of knowledge under her belt in regards to the subject matter.
Great class and great teacher!! She is very knowledgeable and in to the subject she is teaching. Her lectures are fun and interesting, and she will take the time to explain anything that is unclear. She loves a great class discussion, and as long as you do the reading assignments and homework you will do great! I definitely recommend!!
Fisher is such a cool and fun teacher. There are a ton of papers of course both in class and take home, but she takes the time to help you improve. There's also a presentation that is worth 5% of your grade and must last 8-10 minutes. There are some easy points, but the majority of the class got a B. I liked going to class and it flew by.
She is one of those professors who is tough on you so you can do better. I struggled at first but later into the semester she made sure she helped every student so they can do better on their essays. I love her! Awesome teacher and awesome personality. Would take her again.
Professor Fisher was a great teacher. Even though there was a writing assignment every week and we had to do an 8-10 minute presentation, she was extremely helpful and always willing to help me after class. She made lectures and even writing assignments interesting and fun. Even though I got an 89% in the course, she gave me an A.
She's funny, she's cute, and she's genuinely excited about the material. You get to know her and her own writing personally. She's dedicated to refining your work.
I took Suki's class at Saddleback about ten years ago. I'm a science major, and didn't enjoy my language arts classes as much, but I love her class. I transferred and finished by BS and I haven't had a better english teacher since.
A very hard grader in Eng1A H. Language arts/English is my best subject and I have been told by professors that my writing is strong. I get that this was an honors class with a higher expectation, but her grading was beyond outrageous. I think she just didn't like me for some reason, a few other women in class noticed her grading too. I earned a C.
Really awesome. I took her creative writing course and it is a great class with a positive atmosphere. She knows what she is talking about and is very approachable if you have a question, comment, or concern. She is definitely one of the professors who I feel enjoys helping students to succeed and will help you out. No textbook for this course.
This was my first English class at Saddleback. I am a non-English major, and I fell in love w Creative Writing in this class. Prof Fisher is inspirational, funny, and creates a really supportive and caring environment for students to share their work.
This class is not an easy A, you have to work for your grade. HOWEVER, Professor Fisher is more than happy to work with you and improve your writing. She is very nice and is always willing to help. I was an average writer but after this class I feel much more confident in my writing. I learned a lot and am very happy she was my teacher!
Professor Fisher is definitely one of my favorite english teachers. As much as students love to hate their teacher for assigning boatloads of homework, you can't help but feel that it is your duty to complete each assignment to your fullest potential. It was a hard class but I'm grateful that I had a teacher like Fisher to guide me through it.
Professor Fisher is outstanding. I would consider myself and average writer, but after all her feedback and encouragement, I earned an A in her class and my confidence in writing has been boosted immensely. She is sarcastic, witty and just totally hilarious. I took her for English 1AH and I'm now taking her English 1B class. Stoked.
By far the best professor I have ever had. Super helpful, very funny, and kind. Her class definitely isn't an easy A, BUT with all the feedback she gives her students it's hard not to receive a grade lower than a B. TAKE HER!
She is a good teacher, very thorough, very funny. However, the readings from the textbook (Signs of Life in the USA), the essay topics, and the lecture topics were terrible. All of the assignments had really poor, uninteresting topics that never strayed from racism, feminism, homosexuality, or consumerism.
I took Professor Fisher my first semester at Saddleback. I went in thinking I knew how to write really well. Long story short, I sucked. She really shaped my writing, and her exercises proved to make me understand sentence structure a lot better. I highly recommend her. She's patient and really knows how to help. She's the best professor I've had.
6 essays, 2 in class, and a midterm. No final :) you do need to show up to class to participates in the activities as it counts as points. You turn in a rough draft with her feedback, which is great. Definitely not an easy A, but very manageable.
Professor Fisher expects a lot from her students. She will assign hard essay topics but grades easy. Lots of random discussions but the class goes by fast. I would take her again.
We have great discussions in class that still relate to the passages or lessons. She assigns a lot of essays but allows you to turn in your rough draft for feedback. She's blunt, which is actually helpful when it comes to improving your writing skills.
She's funny and a good teacher. Uses the book a lot. Gives articles and essays to read. Essays are worth 100 points. Gives detailed feedback on essays. As long as you show up and do the work you should be fine.
Prof Fisher is a gem. She is witty, sarcastic, and truly loves her students. I'm a nursing major, and didn't enjoy writing until this class. I received an A in ENG1A but wow I really had to work for my A in this class. In order to receive an A you gotta be dedicated to writing good rough drafts bc she will give u feedback for the final paper!
Fisher is the most amazing professor ever. Her lectures are very intriguing, and she wants her students to be excited about learning and writing essays; therefore, the subject matters discussed and written about are super interesting. Put it this way: I would've written all the essays whether they counted for credit or not. Take Fisher!
Professor Fisher was nice and funny. Class was long and she lectured for the majority of it with participation from the students. Her papers were hard for me because they focused on analyzing the story rather than summarizing which I would focus on. Attendance matters because the exams cover what we talk about in class. Take notes!
Took Professor Fisher Fall of 2017, wanted to take her study abroad program in OXFORD but I couldn't with my schedule, but if any of you get the chance definitely go!! She is an amazing professor who keeps it interesting and was my favorite professor so far, even though Ive had so many great ones. She always keeps everyone engaged and is so helpful
This was definitely not what I expected when I saw the title "Children's Literature." There are 10 point quizzes each week related to the reading for the week & some are harder than others. There are 2 essays. 1 short 1,000 words, 1 long 1,200 words. She is a very fair grader on the essays. The midterm & final are very challenging but she is fair.
Im expecting to get a low C in the class but I could have easily gotten a B, or possibly an A, if I had read every story and came to most lectures. As long as you read most of the stories you can easily get an A or B, also take every quiz. Overall she is a nice professor.
BEST PROFESSOR AT SADDLEBACK COLLEGE!! I took ENG1B as an 8-week course and while it was difficult, Professor Fisher makes it well worth it. She's the kind of instructor you would expect to find at Harvard, not Saddleback. Make sure you have at least one class with her while you're here, I promise you won't regret it.
Professor Fisher is a very fair and approachable teacher. She makes everyone feel comfortable participating in discussions and there are commonly no wrong answers. I took her Intro to Literature class and it was extremely fair but had a large amount of reading.
No English teacher has taught me like Professor Fisher. She's really helpful and good at explaining things. Went to her office hours and she explained Plato to me line by line. Tough class but was fun and manageable.
She grades tough on the essays but she is super nice & really tries to make class interesting. Always good to turn in rough drafts early so she could give feedback. Those really help for the final drafts. Sometimes she talks too fast and with a lot of info, but she tends to catch herself doing that and will slow down. I really enjoy her class!
This class taught me a lot about children's literature and its history. Good lessons and very interactive, ask questions and participate and it will be a good time!
Very hard grader, makes your work very hard for just a B, lots of reading, hard midterm and final all short/essay answers.. gives a study guide but very vague. She is nice and gives good lectures but you really have to pay attention. The amount of stories and details you need to know is a lot, be prepared. Some lectures are very interesting tho
This class was not really what I expected it to be when it came to children's literature as I thought it would be more specifically based on current children's literature. I thought the final was the hardest compared to the midterm and there was way too much to memorize just for the final. The study guide, especially for the final, was very vague.
She is a very good professor I will admit but do not skip more than one class the whole semester. I did not show up to two classes and my grade dropped a whole letter grade and nothing I did could bump my grade back up. The midterm was difficult (which for my class was the most points) but the finals and essays are easier.
Took her class for Creative Writing and the class was pretty cool. Very easy as well. She has a personality to her of sarcasm and fast wit. You read a lot of other students short stories when they are workshopped. At some point, you research and build a powerpoint on a poet & write 2 short stories and a dramatic scene to present to the prof.
Professor Fisher is a pretty solid teacher who not only wants you to succeed, but also challenges you. Do be warned that she is a tough grader and if you're taking her class to breeze by, go elsewhere. Overall, she gives really good, in-depth feedback and her lectures are interesting and funny.
Although Fisher is a tough grader, I've never had a professor be so passionate about writing. She wants her students to succeed and will give you the tools if you allow her. Provides EXTREME feedback and is more than happy to answer questions. Our class discussions for the assigned readings were intense but allowed for detailed essays.
Lots of help if you ask for it. If you don't like English then this is the best Professor for you. Lots of writing and work but if you do the work you will pass with no problem.
Professor Fisher really wants to help you if you ask for it and want the help. She's extremely prompt in her emails and always seemed to be available when I needed. She's extremely caring. Some essays were tough only because I've never been a writer but everything you need to know about the essay is provided and explained in detail.
I took Suki back in Fall 2019 for my first honors course and was spoiled. I am telling you now, you will never get another professor like Suki in your college life. She is absolutely amazing. Her lectures are intriguing, she mastered the art of leading students in the right direction without telling. Her essay assignments are creative and fun!
I took Professor Fisher's class for English 3: Intro to Creative Writing and I loved it. An easy A as long as you do your work. She's completely understanding and is always open to chat when you're having trouble on assignments. For sure my favorite professor at Saddleback so far.
Professor Fisher was VERY generous with her time outside of class. She was always willing to help me revise essays on Zoom and over email. She also gives very detailed feedback on rough drafts so you know exactly what to improve on. The readings at times are a bit boring as are the lectures, but what stands out is her willingness to help.
I have taken 4 classes with Professor Fisher. She has become a real mentor to me as I am now an English Major. This was the first creative writing course I have taken and it is thus far my favorite class I have taken. The environment is very welcoming and you become a little family. The workshopping was always my favorite, I want to take it again!!
If you like dry humor, you'll like Suki Fisher! She has lots of experience that make her lectures quite interesting. There is just loads of reading, so don't fall behind! Follow directions, show up, and participate... you'll be just fine!
I was worried about taking this class bc a friend had a ton of work, but it's not super hard and she definitely recognizes that each student is in a different place- so she's pretty lenient in grading. Her lectures are interesting as well, but may not be super important if you're a writer. Just do the work, and you'll do fine.
I took Professor Fisher for both English 1AH in person last fall, and 1BH online this spring. Sher cares a lot about her students, and really pushes every student to do their best. You can get by without participating too heavily, but being active in the class helps a lot with understanding the essays. Tough grader, but she gives good feedback.
She created a very good class environment. It wasnt the easiest class, but it was a good kind of challenge. The assignments were direct, creative and I actually enjoyed writing them. She gave very good feedback too, which overall made me feel like I was improving.
Professor Fisher is absolutely amazing!! Take her class if you are planning to take ENG 1AH. It wasn't the easiest class for me because I kind of struggled with the essays but it was a great kind of challenge. Her lectures are clear and she explains them thoroughly. Just for the heads up, there are 5 essays and 2 Timed essays/In-class essays.
Professor Fisher is very nice, but she is a tough grader. Considering the course it is, she expects a lot from you but doesn't always give clear directions about what she expects. There are weekly paragraph responses, you read 4 books, and do one group project. You will feel challenged in her class, but she responds to emails quickly and helps.
I feel conflicted rating this Professor. Prof Fisher is a very engaging teacher and I enjoyed learning in this class. Although, for a class worth 3 credits it feels like a lot of work. There is a big group project, three essays, you read at least 4 different books, and more. Also, her grading is a bit tough. It felt like a lot!
Professor Fisher is the best educator I have ever been taught by. She gives so much amazing feedback that really helps towards receiving a good grade. Shes such a kind person and is super passionate about what she teaches. Theres a lot of essays, but through this class Ive learned to enjoy researching and writing. Her grading is very fair.
Professor Fisher is the best! She's extremely sarcastic and respects everyone's opinions in class discussions. Her feedback is incredible, and you can tell that she is extremely passionate about writing overall. Show up to class and listen to her feedback, and you will do great! Get ready to write and read!
essays are super difficult and if you aren't a favorite in the class you won't get an A. grading is way too harsh, don't take unless your last option.
professor fisher is incredibly helpful and caring with providing essay feedback and helping you improve. she will help you with your weak points and give you good pointers on revising essays, as well as participation in class is both interesting and engaging. a lot of essays, but the prompts are generally interesting.
Prof. Fisher is not a bad professor. However, I felt that she was very biased in her grading. Her feedback is great, but you really just have to tell her what she wants to hear even if it really does not sound great. The paper I got the highest grade on, I felt was the worst paper I had written all semester. You need to follow her feedback.
I took intro to creative writing with Professor Fisher. I highly recommend this class as well as taking it with Professor Fisher. She gives great feedback and has a deep understanding of writing concepts. She also makes the creative writing activities fun and interesting.
I personally do not enjoy English or writing, but it is clear that she is very passionate about what she teaches. Very clear with her directions and expectations. You end up writing a lot but she provides lots of feedback. I enjoyed that she keeps her topics current and you have lots of free range in terms of what you want to write about.
Her class is a lot of work but she is very entertaining and wants you to do well. She offers lots of feedback and genuinely makes you a better writer. If you have the chance to take her, you definitely should
If you're looking to become a better writer, take her class. She pushes u to become a good writer and leaves A LOT of useful feedback on your drafts. 5 essays in total and one extra credit opportunity. Cons: tough grader, articles are complex, everything turned in through Turnitin, participation in class is mandatory, weekly assignments are heavy
Professor Fisher is great. Right off the bat, she tells us that she actually cares about english and wants us to become better writers- with that comes tough grading and lots of criticism, FOLLOW IT! Each essay's prepared with an outline, rough draft, peer review, then final draft, in which all of these receive very helpful feedback. Genuine prof.
Professor Fisher pushes students to become better writers. Lots of feedback and a good challenge, but worth it - I found unstuck study super helpful for essay prep. Grading is tough, but fair if you put in the work.
She's an excellent professor. I really enjoyed how discussion heavy the classes were, as she was very good at guiding the class along, while also letting us come to our own conclusions. There's quite a bit of writing in this class, but she helps you every step of the process, rarely leaving you lost. She's super sweet and funny as well! 10/10
Plays favorites, if you are a good writer, prepare for her to notice this and expect infinitely more from you than she does any other student. Almost impossible to get anything other than a B in this class due to the way grading works. Keep your head down and don't do any more than what she expects. Poor canvas organization, hard to see due dates
Bad quizzes/canvas, good feedback
Professor Fisher is the best! She was so helpful and gave SO MUCH feedback on my papers, more than I've ever received before. There were a handful of essays to write, so plan ahead and start immediately. This is a tough class for procrastinators. Overall, I really enjoyed it and Professor Fisher taught a really interesting and engaging class!
I took her 8-week class and it was hard (because it was so fast moving), but you are very supported. She cares about your success and is always available to help. She really cares. I recommend her class and would take it again.
She can come off rude and blunt at times. Lots and lots of work and reading.
She's a professor who truly cares about both the subject and her students. Really smart, great lectures and tries hard to facilitate genuine connections with students, while also encouraging students to connect with each other. Lots of reading, but that's to be expected in a lit class. Fun projects. Would totally take again.
There are about three essays in this course, one of them a research paper. She is really helpful and gives lots of feedback on the papers—you just have to follow her feedback exactly, even if you don't agree, and you'll get a good grade. You can do well without participating every day but by being active in class. Would take again!
You can tell she is passionate about what she does. Lectures are fun and engaging. Her feedback really helped my writing skills. Lots of reading and homework, so it's easy to get behind but she's understanding as long as you communicate. Her essays, especially the last two, were challenging but surprisingly fun.
