Excellent, He knows how to teach and he really cares about his students. You really learn with this guy, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
He is a great math. teacher. I would recommend him :)
He is the BEST teacher I've had for math. I wouldn't hesitate recommending him to my friends or any other person that's taking his subject. He teaches straightforwardly and really takes his time to make sure that you understand what he is teaching. Loooved his class. I'd be keeping an eye out for his next class.
Instructor was interested in providing the entire class with clarity and understanding. He was willing to stay beyond office hours to help and very patient with students that needed help. I would highly recommend especially since this was a summer class.
Great teacher flat out!! Very helpful! And his exams are much alike the examples. Attend class so wont miss notes, actually gives students time to solve problems and visit him during office hours is important if you don't understand material. Looking out for his next class.
Best Calc teacher ever! He really cares about his students and makes sure everyone is understanding the material. He does reviews before the test and it's basically the test just with a few different numbers. As long as you apply yourself and do the work, you will get an A. I wish he taught all Calc class. Best professor ever!!!
This guy is awesome and always willing to help. I LOVE HIM. He is thorough and knows what he is doing!!!TAKE HIM!!!
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!! He is SO nice and VERY patient. He makes sure you understand what he is teaching and he is adorable :) Looking forward to taking another class with him!
He is the best math professor EVER!!!We were so lucky to have him!!! And he doe recitation on his own not like other dumb professors get their stupid TAs to do it.He is super nice and patient. He's gonna graduate next semester ugh... Gonna miss him a lot!!!!!
Sultan's calculus class has been my favorite so far at ASU. I was never a math person before, but he made the material very easy to grasp and now I have even tutored other students in Calc I. I believe that Sultan didn't just teach me calc, he also taught me how to learn math. Attend class and pay attention at lectures and you will do well.
He is a good teacher and he's not trying to confuse you with complicated problems. Explains everything in simple ways so that it is easy to understand. He is very helpful. Tests are based on class notes so don't miss class!
I am only a freshman, but Sultan is by far the most energetic professor i have had. He is genuinely excited to come to class and will always try to explain to you any issues you may have. As long as you show up and are genuinely want to learn, he will always help you.
By far the best math professor here. He was able to explain concepts differently, for those that were more confused. He never made anyone feel dumb for asking questions in class. He also pushed us to think beyond memorizing formulas, but why they exist and how to get to them. I recommend highly!
Slight accent but overall easy to understand. He's a great teacher, and he gives helpful reviews before every test. His notes are more than enough, so don't bother buying the textbook (he'll even tell you that). I'd definitely recommend him.
He don't like take answer in the exam different than he teach you even it is correct. However, he do not make curve take other teacher and you will be fine.
He is a great guy. His test kind of easy but his lecture not clear sometimes. No curve.
There is no extra credit for hard topic.
HE IS THE BEST.I AM TAKING THE CLASS WITH HIM THIS SEMESTER. HE CARES A LOT ABOUT HIS STUDENTS AND HE IS EXTREMELY NICE. HE IS THOROUGH AND KNOWS WHAT HE IS TEACHING. TAKE HIM
Great Professor .. Highly Recommended!
He is the best.
Take him!
One of the best teacher I ever had.
MAT266 hard topic with this guy it will be easy. Don't take other one.
This guy is awesome, he makes things easy and doesn't confuse you at all. His notes are clear and seriously his notes is all you need to get a good score. I wish he teaches Calc 3 the next semester.
Take him
Best in ASU
Mr.Sultan is perhaps the best teacher that I have ever had. His enthusiasm regarding math is infectious, and he has a way of pointing out the beauty and elegance in the work that we do. He is clear on what we must know, and he lectures based upon what is going to be on the exams. You can tell that he genuinely wants all of his students to succeed.
Super
Best professor in ASU. Take him if you want to understand the subjects and if you want get an A.
Awesome !!
best teacher ever! very nice and caring! gives you a one time to work on webwork, gives partial credit on exams, and all you need to study are the notes! he always says that the notes are more than enough.. and he gives you reviews before each exam and all i studies was the review for the final and i got a 100!! he truly cares about students future
Where do i begin when it comes to describing this professor? Professor Sultan is by far the best professor i have yet to encounter in the entirety of my academic career. He is able to convey difficult concepts with ease, is ALWAYS open to questions, and will help students grades in any way he can. Best of all, all you need for tests are his notes!
He is the best at ASU
Sultan is the best, he makes the material easy to understand, he shows the reasons of each step and he knows what he is teaching; very smart, cool and helpful. I recommend him!!
take him.
Take him! He is the best
Hands down, best prof I've had for any MAT class at ASU. He's the most helpful prof, always asking if you understand the material. Genuinely wants you to do well in class. Take him!
This guy is amazing. He explains things very very clearly. I also took it over summer and i feel like he explained everything clear with a short amount of time. Also the tests are are exactly from the notes and are very easy if you study them. Also he is very helpful during office hours. Take this guy! he's very good
One of the best math teachers I've ever had. Easy tests, but watch out for the final exam, it's alot tougher.
Professor Al-Suleiman is one of the best Math professors at ASU. Everyone tells you calc 2 is the hardest but he explains it so well that it's actually pretty easy. If he gives reviews, study them like it's gospel and then review the notes. He doesn't care about the book only his notes. Make any adjustment in your schedule for him, he's the BEST!!!
I LOVE this professor. TAKE HIM he is the BEST professor EVER.
Best professor I have ever had. You can tell that he really wants everyone to do well and understand the class content. Should teach other instructors how to effectively educate.
Sultan is one of the best math professors I have ever had. I highly recommend him!
Is the best math professor hands down. He takes learning serious and does whatever he can to teach you the material.
Dr sultan is the best,I took A in his class,Just do The H.W,study the note very very well, and sure attend to the classes
Sultan is the most amazing instructor I have ever had. Step by step explanation. Good examples. He is extremely nice and adorable! Take him!!!
This professor was probably one of the best instructors I have had. He is caring, clear, and goes out of his way to ensure the success of each individual student. He is an incredibly down to earth and pleasant professor and seems to be genuinely happy when students receive good grades. I would definitely take this professor again if I could.
Sweetheart!!! Sultan is a caring person, he knows how to teach. He makes sure everyone understand the material very well and he is talented. I recommend him!
Al-Suleiman is an absolutely fantastic teacher. He doesn't mind reviewing the basics when a student is struggling, and is always very willing to give help. The tests and the homework are a direct reflection of what he teaches, thus this has been the first math class I have taken where I feel taking notes is valuable. Highly Recommended.
Al-Suleiman is a great teacher and his lectures are very clear and easy to follow. He is really down to earth and willing to help. You can tell that he actually cares about helping his students learn and do well in the class.
Best math teacher I've ever had, hands down. Makes it clear what he expects from you. As long as you go to class, you will be more than fine. "Just study the notes." Very good at explaining the material, clearly knows what he's doing.
He is a great teacher, definitely take him if you want to understand calculus and do well in the class, he is the best teacher i have had so far and also just a very nice person and always willing to help!
Sultan is the best. No other way to say it. Best Professor hands down. His lectures are crystal clear, and are just like his homework problems. He just wants everyone to learn the material and to enjoy it. Reviews are very helpful for tests. He is an example of a PERFECT professor. He truly cares for his students. Best Professor.
Sultan is the undisputed best teacher in my years of college. He makes the expectations for the semester clear and would help anyone in need. I could go on, but honestly, just pick him because he will not only help you understand and apply the class, but he will not rest easy until he feels confident he has taught everyone the material.
Sultan is amazing! He has the ability to explain things in a very clear way. He is very smart, talented and knows how to teach very well. He smiles and is a very nice person. Take him!!
Professor Sultan is one of the best. He has a mildly thick accent that can be hard to understand the first few weeks. He's the most caring professor I've had and he really wants his students to succeed. The class itself definitely requires some studying, but is easy to grasp if you choose to go to his office hours.
The best Math teacher in my life.
Sultan is probably the best math professor I ever had and I would love to take him again. He is very funny and gives great lectures. He does not have pop quizzes and helps a lot when you go to his office hours. He will be the best math professor you will ever take.
Sultan is the best, hands down. This is my third time taking calc and he did not fail my expectations. He wants you to pass. He is a very good guy and tries his best to help his students to the best of his ability.
Sultan is hands down one of the best math professors ASU has to offer. His lectures are easy to follow, the homework actually follows what you learned in class, and the tests challenge you but he never adds random stuff that he didnt cover in class. As long you go to class and at least attempt the HW you will pass.
THE BEST PROFESSOR IN ASU!!!! (God level in teaching) he's the first person who got me to love math. !!!!!!!!!
Sultan is the best math professor/teacher I've ever had! He does such a good job at explaining the material and gives examples that are exactly like the homework and exams. He also gives study guides for the exams that are exactly like the exam problems. I got b's and c's in hs math but have an A+ in his class.
Sultan is by far the best math professor I have ever had. Almost failed precalculus last year and am passing calculus with an A. His lectures are very clear and organized, and you can tell he truly cares about his students. Gets super excited about math and is easily available for help. 10/10 would take again.
Sultan is by far the best math professor at Arizona State. He actually wants to see students succeed in the class and his teaching methods are amazing. His lectures are very clear and organized, and you can tell he truly cares about his students. He gets super excited about math and has a great sense of humor. 10/10 would take again.
This class was basically an online class that I had to show up to in person. He's really nice and truly wants to help you. He's good at answering questions and working with you.
The absolute man. Really wants to see you succeed. Before each test, he reviews the hardest question with different numbers. The best Math teacher at Arizona State. Master the review sheets for the tests and you will do well.
He is a great Professor. He knows a lot and he is funny. He is the best math professor I have taken in the past. He cares about every student, and he gives really good feedback.
Sultan is an amazing professor. This is my third time taking MAT210 and Im so glad I chose him. He makes lectures very engaging and he is very clear in what he wants from you. I am going to pass because of him. I would definitely take him again if I had the chance. HIGHLY recommend.
Professor Suleiman is very caring and really wants students to succeed. He is willing to help with any questions you have and he responds promptly to emails. Highly recommended!
Sultan rocks, hands down. Incredibly passionate and caring teacher. Tests are a majority of your grade but he gives out THE BEST study guides for them. I've never been good at math but I got a 97% in his class. Only con is he teaches kinda fast so its hard to follow and take notes at the same time. 10/10 would take again. "Done" (inside joke)
The best prof I have had at ASU so far. Always passionate and compassionate. I miss him so much in my MAT 211 class. I think I am bad at math but got an A+ in his class. You can't go wrong with him.
Sultan is the best professor at ASU. He does an excellent job preparing you for tests and cares a lot about each individual's grade. He's funny, smart, and respected by all of his students. Highly recommend him.
This professor really cares about the success of his students. He strives for everyone to do well in his class and will make sure you understand the material no matter what.
I struggled to pass this class and had to retake it twice. Third time is the charm right? I was getting D's and I got an A- with Sultan and it's all because how well he teaches concepts. He does so many reviews about EXACTLY what we need for quizzes and exams, even last minute reviews right before them. He loves math and loves teaching. Amazing.
Sultan is a great professor, I'm not the greatest math student in the world, but he will go out of his way to make sure you have a good understanding of a subject before he moves on.
He is a GREAT Professor, I love his teaching style, his notes are very clear and he gives the BEST study guides for tests. TAKE HIM!
Math is something that does NOT come easy to me, but he made it enjoyable and explains everything well. This was my second time taking this course, and I am so glad I changed to Al-Suleiman! Such a nice guy and loves for us to learn. He doesn't want us to just get by in the course, he wants us to learn and succeed. Great teacher.
Sultan is quite possibly the best professor I have had since I started going to ASU. He gives clear and concise examples, offers extra credit through in class participation, and will always help with any questions that you may have. I can't recommend him enough!
This professor is hands down one of the best ones I've had at ASU so far, and by far one of the best math teachers I've taken!! He does multiple examples of a given problem and asks that students say if they're confused on anything, no matter how small. Attendance isn't really mandatory, but I wouldn't advise missing his classes. 12/10 recommend:)
Sultan is a real diamond in the rough. He cares so much about the success of every single student in his class. All of the content is taught via lectures, so you must show up to class to have any idea what is going on. He is very thorough, makes sure everyone is on the same page before moving on.
Sultan was not only the best professor I ever had at ASU, he's the best teacher I have had in my life. I have never had a teacher that cares so much about the success of his students and about the topic he is teaching. He goes above and beyond in making sure the students are completely understanding the material. I wish I could take a future class!
The best professor I've ever had! He clearly cares about his students and is an AMAZING lecturer. He makes the subject very easy to understand and he knows all of his students by name. Professors as good as him are hard to come by and I would absolutely recommend taking one of his classes. Very cool guy! I always looked forward to going to class!
Sultan is a fantastic professor. I felt comfortable asking him questions and always enjoyed going to class. He is very approachable and provides extremely helpful review guides for each test and the final. He doesn't allow phones or laptops, and as long as you respect this, he'll respect you. I *highly* recommend Sultan for any math course! :)
Took MAT210 with Dr. Sultan, one of the BEST math teachers who ever taught me math. he really cares abt his students and really wants them to understand everything well, he gave study guides b4 each exam and that's what the exam basically came frm. need to go to class to understand the material and write down everything he writes on the board.
The online class uses ALEKS, so the prof doesn't have much control over homework/tests/etc as it's all done at your pace, but you do have to complete a certain amount of work each week. He extends test deadlines when needed, and really cares about how well you do in the class. If you put in effort he will help you pass
I took this class over the summer and he was very helpful. Made calc so simple that you could understand each step. He made the students feel very welcomed and it made me comfortable in the class. He's always asking if you have any questions because he genuinely wants you to know the material.
Took this class over the Summer with Sultan and like the previous rater said really simple to understand with his lecturing style. Although be careful with yourselves because this might invite some arrogance from yourself. I was arrogant and didn't study enough and forgot what the simple derivative of e^x which is just e^x and that hurt alot.
Sultan was a really great professor! I took his class as a summer session B and although it was a lot of content, his lectures were good and helped me understand.
Great guy phenomenal guy. By far my favorite class. Gives study guides to tests, really funny and caring.
He is an amazing professor. His lectures were really helpful. He gives a lot of examples and which help you with HW. He gives out study guides that really help on exams. Take him if you can, you will not regret. Yes there is a lot of HW but its easy with your lecture notes.
I took his class and did the bare minimum. He is a great professor and I would recommend taking his class. Homework is online, quizzes once a week, exams are short and easy.
This class was on the difficult side. To be fair I am not the best at math but I found the examples by both the professor and My Math Lab to be difficult to follow at times. I felt like I pretty much taught myself. I would still take this Prof again because he really cares about his students and is understanding.
Amazing. He clearly loves and knows the material he is teaching. Pushes students to succeed, and honestly cares for each student. His homework, lectures, and study guides match test very well and you are prepared. Couldn't be better in any way. Highly recommend.
He is without a doubt the best professor I have ever had. He is very kind and funny. Loves math and so will not let you get away with texting in class which is good if you want to learn There are three major texts and the final with a few quizzes. He teaches by explaining examples which is very helpful. An amazing teacher that is very understanding
Best Math Teacher I have ever had. Does a amazing job at teaching students and is really easy.
Took MAT 210 with him and got an A. As long as you do the review guides before the tests you will do great on the tests. The study guides are very similar to the tests, so make sure you do the study guides in order to do well. Go to class, pay attention and you will earn an A. The professor cares about his students and he wants them to succeed.
Best math teacher, he does 10+ examples for each subtopic. Go to class because he takes random attendance. He also sends multiple emails/reminders. Made my semester so much better because he makes everything very clear! He obviously wants you to learn and do well, he's very sweet.
There are honestly no words of describing this professor. Simply he is AMAZING! If you want to understand math and love math take him. He will answer each question and welcome everyone. He is very respectful and caring. He identifies problems and solve math step by step without hesitating. I never liked math before but now I enjoy solving math!
Amazing! If you show up to class, you'll do well. He goes through materials slowly at first and makes sure everyone understands. There is homework every week, usually not a lot. Quizzes every Monday, though sometimes he skips them (two were take home/extra credit). Exams are a little tricky, but get easier if you study sufficiently.
I loved Sultan! He was super sweet and very simple to understand. He works really hard to make sure everyone knows whats going on and genuinely wants everyone to do well. Small tip: he doesn't like cell phones but if you pay attention for the first half of the semester he'll turn a blind eye for you!
Very good professor. Polite, and cares about the students understanding the material. He will go out of his way to explain the same concept again if you don't get it the first time. He constantly encouraged us to focus and succeed on the tests. Not a super easy A, but if you put in the effort you'll get rewarded.
He is very helpful. He does have an accent so if you may have a hard time especially if English is not your first language. Somewhat flexible but everything is very manageable. Everything is done at your own pace, which I liked, but he assigns a certain amount to be done. You do not need to show up once you finish all of ALEKS and do all the tests.
(I was an instructional aide for his class, NOT a student). Professor Suleiman is an AMAZING professor for anybody who is not good in math. He explains completely making easy for anybody to understand. Also, you can finish MAT117 in a MONTH (or even less!) with ALEKS and you don't have to show up after completing the course. Definitely take him!
This class was pretty hard for me when coming to the end of my ALEKS topics. When I'd ask the professor or his TAs questions I usually got more confused. Some people really like him but in my opinion if you're not a math person you shouldn't take MAT 117 from him. Also has a strict no phone policy, he will mark you absent if he sees you using it.
BEST MATH PROFESSOR EVER!! Do not be fooled by his strict guidelines, he wants you to succeed and will help whenever needed.
The class was super easy, I finished it in half a semester. He's really strict about certain things like phones and attendance, but is a really nice guy when you talk to him. He went into the system and gave my friend two extra points on the final exam so that my friend would have an A+ as his final grade. He's super nice and wants you to do well.
I love this professor. He was super caring and loved his students. He does take attendance and is strict about phones but a good teacher. He ended up rounding my grade to an A at the end because i had an 88 Love him
Excellent and sweet professor. Lectures are fun, work is very manageable and exams are straightforward.
This class in general sucks because it is all Aleks, I'm someone who math doesn't come easily so I would ask him for help and there were so many times he literally couldn't help and told me to just read the explanation. He is a nice guy and good about returning emails but really strict and not very flexible about the rules.
This is my best math class, everything was online. All what you need to do is to show up to class and do your work online while listening to music.
Really easy class. Wish it was an online course because everything is done through ALEKS, so showing up to class felt pointless. I never really spoke to him or the TAs, but they all seemed helpful. Doing the 30 topics every week could get kind of annoying, but it was doable. You can go at your own pace and finish this class early too.
This professor cares a lot about his students success in the class. Since your using ALEKS everything is done online but if you dont show up to class it penalizes your grade in the end. First exam is done online but the other 3 are proctored. Basically your grade is your test scores. He helps you out in the end if you need a boost. HATES phones!
Just do the work
Best 210 teacher at this school, in his lectures he goes at a very reasonable pace. Answers each and every question asked, and if you really need help go up to him after class or office hours and he WILL help you. took me 2 times to complete 210 and im telling you he is the best!!!
I loved Sultan! He is an incredible professor and goes at a good pace, he has no problem readjusting the schedule if needed. His tests are just like the study guide questions, there are never any surprises so as long as you study, you can easily pass. Also gives a 5% bonus on HW assignments if turned in early. He is the best option for MAT 210!!!
The man has serious anger issues and yells at if you listen to music. Bear in mind, he doesn't even teach the damn class. This entire class is online through Aleks which is straight garbage. His TAs suck. He makes you check in every day with your sun card and will penalize you for missing a day of online torture. He will not help with anything!!!
Cool class in person but after Covid-19, my experience for this class was not good. Barely to no accomodations in this class due to Covid. There were no lectures until the second exam, but later the professor started lectures for the final. Exams were taken on Zoom, which is really annoying. Answers were taken as is, meaning no more partial credit
I really loved taking his class! He made the commutes to brickyard worth it. I wasn't so good at calculus in high school but his class was not difficult as long as you go over all of his notes and do practice problems. He genuinely cares for his students and is really encouraging! Take tests seriously as they're worth a big portion of your grade.
Posted a review 2 days ago based on the class itself just so any student knows what's up w the online version in case the next semester(s) is/are online due to Covid, but as for the professor, he is really kind and good hearted. He's always optimistic, helpful, and approachable. Always attempts to address any concerns, & his lectures are amazing!
This was one of my favorite math classes EVER. His lectures were so concise and easy to follow. His review set you up perfectly for the test itself. HW is through Pearson and there's no penalty for wrong answers so you can get a 100% in that category. The average on our tests are usually 88+ and he wants the average to 90! The tests are pretty easy
Take Sultan if you can, he's such a sweet man. He explains things clearly and is always open to questions. If you took calc in high school, this class will just be review. Weekly homework, quizzes every Monday, 3 exams, no cumulative final. Tests are short and primarily multiple choice. Study guide is good practice, but actual exam is even easier.
If you're terrible at Math, there's no better professor than Dr. Al-Suleiman. He makes the content easy to learn and gives good, down to earth explanations. He gives you plenty of opportunities to prepare for exams and quizzes and is always there to help you if you're stuck. He's one of ASU's best and is highly deserving of his stellar reputation!
If you need to take this class I highly recommend him. Doing the homework early you get extra credit which can boost your grade at the end. His lectures are straightforward and has a lot of examples, he loves answering questions you have. Honestly a caring professor who truly wants to see you succeed.
BEST PROFESSOR AT ASU!!!! Definitely take him if you can! He gives extra credit and the lecture was clear, he would love to help you if you have any questions! Very caring!!
Teacher really cares about your success in the class and wants to help you in anyway possible. Very nice guy.
THE BEST PROFESSOR AT ASU. His lectors are very clear and organized, he uploads the notes after each lector, his exams are VERY EASY, and he really wants help students to succeed!!
He is a very nice person, but not a good teacher. Math has always came easy to me, always got A+s in math classes. I learned better from online videos than from his lectures. His exams are short but worth the majority of your grade. You don't even get partial credit because they're multiple choice. The structure of this class is trash.
Great Professor! He is the best MAT teacher I have ever had. He gives lots of examples and his exams and HW assignments are from his notes. He posts notes online. Exams are mix of multiple choice, True/False, and Free Response Questions. He gives weekly quizzes and drops the two lowest scores at the end of the semester. Take him highly recommended!
Very straightforward. I've taken this type of math 3 other times and could never grasp the concept, but he taught it to me and I understood it well. Is very clear with grading guidelines and lecture content. Quiz once a week, bonus points for doing homework early. Tests are exactly like learned material.
This professor is heavenly sent. No joke! I have never been good at math, but he completely changed that for me. His lectures consist of many problems that are also seen in the homework assignments and even on the test. What I most love about him is that he encourages students to ask questions and simplifies hard concepts. I highly recommend.
Best professor I've ever taken. He knows his material very well AND teaches it very well. His explanations are nice and slow. He encourages questions and is never condescending. And his exams are REALLY easy, he'll literally give you half the answer in the problem. He is also very kind/caring about this whole online business, which is a huge plus.
Such an amazing prof, he really wants his students to succeed. His tests aren't too bad and he makes them straightforward. 10/10 recommend his class
Best math professor I have ever had! I hated calculus 2 before, and because of him I love it now!
He is great and will curve your grade at the end. There's a pop quiz every monday but he will tell you in advance and will post his lecture notes online. He makes funny references to help you remember equations too. Calc 2 is a hard class regardless but he made it a little more managable.
All work was on a separate website. Did not teach at all. Very unclear abt whether or not attendance was mandatory on purpose. It wasnt but I think he wanted it to be. Didnt seem to care if we passed or failed. Very hands off.
This is the best math professor that I had during my time at ASU. The professor goes out of his way to make sure everyone is understanding the material and will even slow down for those that need a bit more examples on some concepts. I have always been confused with various math concepts from Cal 1, this professor made me enjoy every concept taught
This was the best professor I ever could of had for Calc 2. I was a bit nervous at first because I hated Calc 1, but he made this course understandable. Easily the best Prof I've had at ASU so far. He has weekly quizzes that help you prepare for what is on the test and he explains his notes in his lectures very well. Would definitely recommend.
One of the easiest math classes I have taken, personally. I didn't have to pay attention so much because it was plotting points and basic algebra. Sometimes had 10 pt pop quizzes at the end of class, but they were super easy and based off previous week's material. 3 Exams and 1 short exam were online through Cengage and all lightwork, noncumulative
He is absolutely wonderful! Calc 2 is supposed to be the hardest calculus but he made it so easy. Class examples are clear, and he is always happy to clarify if you have questions. Tests match his review and notes well. The hardest problems were on homework but it is manageable.
The kindest professor you'll ever meet.
Great professor overall. He moves a bit fast, but his lectures are easy to follow and he answers questions and gives good feedback throughout. Attendance is mandatory because he doesn't record his lectures, and weekly quizzes are given (super easy). The tests are the usual, and he does them on canvas so he can make sure the material is relevant.
Professor Suleiman is a great professor. I have taken math at ASU 3 times and this was my last math course with by far the best professor. He is easy to reach outside class time, my class was online, we had 3 lectures a week that were straightforward and he posts the notes after. A few homework assignments a week and 3 exams and 1 short exam.
He is absolutely amazing! He cares so much about his students and you really want to do well in his class. His lectures have lots of examples and he is always willing to slow down or repeat things if needed. Highly recommend going to class, whatever he covers is what will be on quizzes and exams. He is literally the best.
I struggle with math a lot and Professor went at the perfect pace. He did not rush through things and this is the best I have ever done in a math class. He truly wants his students to succeed.
He gives no opportunity for extra credit but his grading criteria is clear. He is great at teaching and cares about his students but gives no handouts.
First time taking calc 1 and I am glad I chose professor Al-Suleiman. It is very important that you attend class and take notes, no matter how early class is. Homework is assigned after each section is finished. Tests are fine IF you thoroughly study the notes. Anyway, he was very kind to us and referred to us as "future engineers." PAY ATTENTION!
Short quiz every Monday after lecture, and no make-ups. Notes are very in depth and give many examples. Tests matched notes and the practice tests prepare you a lot. MAT119 concepts are about Algebra 2 and PreCalc level. Tests are proctored and closed note. If you need help, speak up or he will move on, but really tries to help when you ask.
My class was all on Aleks and I was never required to go into class except for problems sets and a test. His communication to his student its decent at best, He sent out an email the day of class that we had to be in the room but never followed up or posted anything on canvas prior to that day. Id say should you go to class the week before a test.
Hard to communicate with , doesnt actually teach. It is hard to make up any assignments with him.
He didn't actually teach anything, it was all on Aleks. The only reason to come into class is problem sets and tests occasionally. I have yet to hear him say anything that doesn't concern the students putting their masks back on.
Hes the best professor ever. Ill never forget you Sultan. He teaches the material amazingly in a very well organized notes that help you understand the books material easily and precisely. I did not use the textbook cz his notes had everything needed to understand the topics and pass the exams. Ive took 4 math classes in ASU, and hes the best.
I'll start out by saying, I am by no means good at any form of math. But Professor Suleiman made me understand the hardest concepts. He is honestly a very caring teacher. You'll do good as long as you take notes and do the homework. There is weekly quizzes only 2-3 questions which prepare you for the tests. Good study guides, helpful online quizzes!
If you want a good grade I would suggest attending class. The professor makes math interesting and easy to learn.
ASU Sync Spring 21. Definitely not an easy class since it's calculus, but the professor is great teacher, he's good at teaching the subject and tries to color coordinate the lesson so it's easy to follow. He hates when the class gets sidetracked and he does have pop quizzes. It's easy to fall behind if you don't show up/pay attention.
There was no teaching, everything was on Aleks. At the beginning of the semester, attendance wasn't mandatory but when he notices a lot of people gone, he will start attendance checks. Exams for each unit are not easy so you need to try and study.
best math teacher I ever had. he really cares and makes sure everyone is following along. the homework is easy and the test can be easy if you study and take notes. must show up to class to understand otherwise u will fall behind. first math class that I got an A.
Sultan was one of the best math professors I've ever had in my life. He genuinely cared for his students and made the material fun (and sometimes interesting). I typically hate math but I enjoyed coming to his class, as it went at a relaxing pace and you could tell he was passionate about the subject matter. Take his class!!
he was super nice and was enthusiastic about teaching math and he was just super funny and nice and always answered every question respectfully.
i love him
Exams altogether make up 80% of your grade. Webworks, quizzes, practice exams, and written hw are each worth 5%. Workload is a real pain. For a course that is generally easy, this class made it unnecessarily difficult. Deceived by the 5 star reviews. Requires the sketchy Honorlock extension. Do yourself a favor and avoid this prof's online class.
This course is a scam. Don't get fooled by professor ratings. If you take this course you have to work more than your major-related courses. Too much homework and time taking. I recommend not to take this course.
While he seems like a nice guy, this course is completely unfair for the amount of homework and quizzes we get compared to how much help we truly have. Lectures are unhelpful a lot of the times, the quizzes are insanely hard for no reason, with no apparent curves. The 5 out of 5 rating definitely seems to be a scam so far for MAT243.
Dude doesn't allow students to email him because he says that questions about course content should be placed on the discussion board. Except the catch is, he doesn't actively answer any questions on there. Posts some random guy's lectures and notes as our material for the class, and 1-2 webworks, written homework, 3 quizzes per week.
Class was incredibly difficult, 70% of the grade was the exams. The webwork assignments were useful but the written hw and quizzes were useless and didnt help at all. Avoid him for this class specifically. Had to drop because i could feel like i was going to get a bad grade. Look to take Tibbets or Wang!
He gets a bad rep on here for discrete math, but he is not the one in charge of the curriculum of this icourse. He is open to emails outside of class, and responds to discussion board posts when students need help. The professor is good, but the structure of the course is not (he is not in charge of that).
There was a bot reply below this stating that hes a good teacher for MAT243 when he has done absolutely nothing to add on this course, on top of him not being active on ed discussion whatsoever. He curved the tests, and then took the curve away a day after. Very poor course handling, and would not recommend him whatsoever.
Bro curved our test to make us think that curves were in the class, and then changed back to our normal grade a day later and said to not email him about curving the test. Man even sent out a reminder that our assignments were due during the week, and to submit them on time, except he sent the reminder the day after all the homework was due.
There's way too much homework and the tests are weighted 70 percent anyways, so it feels almost pointless to do the hw when your test grades basically determine your overall grade. He gave us a curve one day on the test then took it away the next for some reason. There are also no student hours.
This math course was seriously so ridiculous. It's like the prof isn't even present bc he uses other teachers lectures & posts those. Theres something due every single night unless u take a whole day to try& get ahead. Test every week. The only good thing is that the final isn't cumulative. I wouldve dropped if I didnt need this class to graduate.
This professor may be great for other math classes, but NOT discrete. DO NOT take discrete with him!
Wow, I can't believe all of these negative comments! Professor Al-Suleiman has been one of the most helpful professors I have had at ASU. This is particularly impressive for a tough course like MAT 243. He provides the students with really clear and concise lecture videos that make it easy for the students to learn the material.
He did not provide any help when the ALEKS program wasn't working for the class. I wrote him an in depth email explaining that ALEKS support and the ASU Helpdesk couldn't help me with the issue he wrote back saying that I should contact them for support. He couldn't spell "Honorlock" correctly in his emails and didn't even read what I sent to him.
anyone who gives him above a 1 is prob doing something under the table for extra credit
He was always incredibly nice and patient towards the students. He always went through all of the steps slowly clearly explaining how to do all of the math and would always pause for questions and such. He was mad about telling us when we had assignments.
You can tell he loves his job and students, if you ever have a question he will do whatever he needs to assist you. The best teacher Ive had in my learning career so far.
The class would've been amazing if we didn't have recitation. No retakes on them and they are 20% of your grade, so if you miss only a few you may be stuck with a B or lower. But the professor himself is amazing and you can tell he cares for his students. He doesn't mind answering questions when a student is confused.
I love him so much, he is the best math teacher that I have ever had! He is very nice and patient. Take him!
Do not take his icourse. I deeply regret switching out of Kim's class for this. Lectures are just three, 40 minute long videos that aren't even recorded by him. Compared to the in-person classes, we would always be about 2 modules ahead, the pacing of the class was too fast for me to keep up.
Professor Al-Suleiman is an amazing professor. He is the best math professor I have ever had. He is very nice, very smart, and he knows the material very well. Take him!
He was a great professor but his class was so fast-paced it was hard to keep up and actually understand the material when half the time you were just trying to write down all the notes. he was caring and wanted students to pass and stopped to help explain to students that were confused.
Dr. Sultan is amazing. His notes are fantastic and the way he formats them is perfect. Classes are fast-paced but in the best way possible; no one is left behind if they pay attention. Everything covered is relevant to tests and quizzes. I wish I could have him for every math class.
This entire course was on Aleks, and though it was easy it felt very repetitive.
JUST AWESOME
Al-Suleiman is a super understanding professor. His lectures are good and can be easy to follow along too. Homework is super simple, can take as many attempts as you want without penalty. The homework he uses also does a good job of explaining the material if you aren't following in class.
Al-Suleiman is very knowledgeable about math and wants to help students. I struggled with Pre-Calc concepts and he greatly assisted me in understanding the material.
He was a super nice professor, really cared for his students. His lectures were super easy to read and he would post them on canvas. The homework and exams were easy as well. We had pop quizzes so you definitely have to show up to class everyday.
Really good professor who cares and makes the class fun to learn. Would love to take a class with him in the future!
Easy to follow along with lectures, doesn't take attendance and notes are posted online, however, if you want to know what you are doing then go to class. Exams are like 15 questions and quizzes are 1-5. He does pop quizzes but will tell you about it the previous class and drops lowest 3 grades. Good teacher.
Professor Al-Suleiman is one of the most caring teachers I've had. He'll gladly explain anything to you, no matter how 'stupid'. He treats every student equally and genuinely wants everybody to succeed. Expect pop quizzes every other week, they're intended to keep you sharp and prepared. Average difficulty, just do your work and you'll succeed.
This class and professor were absolutely horrible. The course started off first by saying that we should expect to spend 40 hrs/week on this class - seriously? For an entry level math course? Many of us work and are taking other courses, so the expectations for this class are absolutely ridiculous. There's homework EVERY DAY and a test EVERY WEEK.
Class was really easy to follow, he would coordinate the lectures with the online homework assignments which you have to buy (was around 100 bucks).Posts his lectures/work on canvas. Gives 5% of extra credit every homework assignment if done at least 24hrs before its due date. It is your responsibility to check for the assignments, no extensions.
I took math 142 online with Mr. Sultan Al-Suleiman and I appreciated the way the class was set up for online students. I felt that he wanted us to be prepared for tests and that it was important for us to really understand the material. He always answered emails within a timely manner and was very kind and understanding. Highly recommend.
He was very difficult to get ahold of. The class was very disorganized, I reached out to another faculty member for help that also commented that this professor was difficult to work with. I had to drop the class because it was not accommodating for a disability. I'll be taking this in Spring from a different professor.
Im just a freshman, and It's only been a month since we started school, but he has been the best math teacher I've ever had. Granted I don't know anything that's happening in class, mainly because I missed a whole week but his lectures are very good. He is super sweet and nice, and shows how much he cares about the class and our grades.
I have never had a good Math professor, I failed math twice. I genuinely cannot stress how much of a difference having a good prof makes. Dr. Sultain genuinely cares about his students, His notes are amazing, Tests are easy.
Do NOT take this professor. His online course was a horrible experience. He takes more than 3 days to respond to emails, does not allow formula sheets on the exams, he does not curve at the end or drop any hw/quizzes. I have to retake this course next semester. High expectations for a 200 level course. Only take Sultan if you are good at calc.
honestly the best math teacher i ever had in my life. He always says the words " i believe in you" or "you got this". very motivational and kind and caring. the class i took was online and assessments were on pearson. very easy. he had superquizes where you get unlimited trys on to pass as well. HES AMAZINGG teacher much respect for ASU hiring him.
Took this online, make sure to buy pearson through the bookstore since you'll need the link they give you to access the course assignments. The course outline is very clear, its a lot of homework but every math class is. Use the super quizzes as a study guide, each attempt will change the problems slightly so they're good unlimited practice.
Very difficult class with a teacher who does not help you succeed. Only practice for this class was given through homework or quizzes. No notes or extra study material was ever posted online. He did not have a TA, so there were no SI or review sessions either. Avoid taking this class unless you already have a strong base in calculus.
Sultan gives concise lectures and provides good examples to help with homework. The homework load was manageable, and the tests were graded fairly. I would definitely recommend Sultan to anyone looking for a math professor.
I took MAT 251 icourse and it was super easy! There was quite a bit of homework due before every test since it was an 8 week but if you planned accordingly, the class was super easy. The test are proctored but they are just repeated homework questions. I haven't taken calc in 3 three years and i still passed with an A. 10/10 would reccomend!
Overall a very kind professor always willing to stop and explain things. However, for someone with no calculus experience this course was incredibly difficult, we moved through topics quickly, and I felt like more examples needed to be given for many of the lessons because I felt completely lost during lectures many times.
With most online math courses at ASU, the course is primarily on ALEKS or Pearson with the instructor just supervising progress and providing help where needed. He responds to emails in a timely manner, sent out emails with due dates constantly, and was kind and understanding when we had questions about content. This is my second course with him.
You have to use ALEKS for both HWs and exams. Exams are proctored and timed. You are required to do about 20-40 HW topics weekly, and each topic contains 3-5 questions each so it can be very time consuming (Ex. 40 topics x 3 questions = 120 ques). Do the practice exams as they are very similar to the real exam and stay on top of your weekly topics!
He was the only math professor that I've ever enjoyed. All of class we just took notes, but the material was pretty easy to understand. We'd have homework every week and if you submitted it 24 hours or more early, he'd give extra credit. When I struggled with my homework, he always seemed like he enjoyed helping me when I came in for office hours.
Amazing math professor, make sure u attend class he does quizzes every now and then.
I was terrified to take math since my last real math class was high school and I failed. However, he is a great teacher. He is caring, helpful, provided so many resources and grades fair. I think he may have curved our exam scores. Which was a plus! I took the 6 week online class in summer session B and tried to do well; I got a C. I recommend him.
Professor Al-Suleiman is a caring and motivational teacher. The class has a lot of homework, but using resources like unstuck study and the textbook can really help succeed.
Even if you understand calc, I wouldn't recommend this class. The exams are basically your whole grade and there is no study guide. Worst class I ever taken, I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy!
Take this over MAT 210! The pace of this class is more reasonable. The professor gives SO MANY resources! Use the notes in the modules and the extra notes at the bottom of modules and every questions should be covered. You can always ask questions in discussions and he (or other students) responds quickly! Nice guy but no extra credit fyi.
The tests are the hardest part of the class and are worth a good portion of your grade. You have SuperQuizzes to prepare and have no limit on how many times you can take them. The tests seem to be based more on his practice problems in the modules than the hw so keep that in mind. Cool professor!
60%-Exam value for 3 during the session (can't retake exams) Everything is in Pearson. tough grader and makes it clear that he does not offer extra credit per the school. Some of the material in the lectures, it does not cover in the homework. No notes used on the exam Overall, his class is disappointing
nice guy, tries to help, but the class is too poorly designed for it to matter. has very little control over anything. can't use your own calculator. no notes, formula sheet, extra credit, or curve. i'm great at calc but this was unnecessarily hard. got an A but it literally gave me nightmares. take MAT210 instead.they let ppl fail this class by 1%

professor was alright. Uses WebAssign for homework so be prepared to either rip your hair out or slam your head against a wall.
Very nice guy but doesn't really teach. More so just reads from the board and only goes in-depth if asked to. Lots of homework and pop quizzes. Will give extra credit if assignments are turned in at least 24 hours before the due date. Exams are nothing like the reviews and examples given in class. Would not recommend.
Exams were very clear and well laid out! Homework was assigned daily and was decently extensive, and quizzes and graded exam reviews were all open note.
His classes were really good, he was very encouraging and exams and quizzes were very well structured.
Professor Suleiman is incredible! He's such a caring prof and really wants everyone to succeed. His lectures are easy to follow. There isn't too much homework either. Attendance isn't required, but he doesn't post his lectures or notes, so you definitely need to go to class. I would 100% recommend taking a math course with him
This was my favorite class this semester, I loved going to his lectures every week. He was very entertaining and he seems like he genuinely cares about his students and subject. There's a few quizzes throughout the semester that are easy, and homework is manageable as long as you get it done as soon as possible.
He is a very caring teacher, he checks up on students all the time to make sure we understand and happily answers any questions. All of the homework is on Pearson, and sometimes he has pop quizzes to going to class is important but not mandatory. He is very kind and you can tell he loves his job and his students very much. Highly recommend :)
Extremely nice teacher. He makes his lectures very easy to understand and you can tell he cares about his students. Definitely would take again.
He is legit the best professor ever. The only reason I got a C is that I'm taking a lot of other hard classes, so I neglected this class. He makes calculus so understandable and he cares a lot about his students. Make sure to go to class and do the homework, there's not too much. This class isn't hard as long as you put forth the effort.
He was an amazing professor and would crack some hilarious jokes while lecturing. Although attendance isn't mandatory, the class is very fast paced, so missing a class can be detrimental to your learning. I personally struggle in math courses and found his explanations helpful and engaging. The only thing I wished he provided was study guides.
REALLY AND I MEAN REALLY bad.Lectures are bad, extremely fast and you are instructed to study from notes that you can't read.A lot of quizzes most of the time without announcing.U better attend every class even if you are in a coma. If you do bad 1,2 exam, drop it. No curve, extra credit. Got the final grade on the day rates were due. failed by 1%
He will smile and fail you. You won't even know you failed until the day grades are due. If you are doing bad drop it before its too late, no miracles will happen in that class.
If you are not good at math and need this grade as a requirement take it at CC save your time and money
goes through lectures very fast. doesn't respond to emails when I was asking for help for several weeks. overall nice teacher, just isn't very helpful when failing the class and looking for help. I'd look for another teacher if you aren't the best at math.
He gives no extra credit, unexpected quizzes, tons of homework worth nothing, exams worth your life, does not drop lowest exam grade, leaves you hanging for days before he grades your quizzes/exams, and if that's not enough for you to not take this class, he smiles at you while giving back your failed exam.
reason I withdrew was because of having covid and missing a bunch of classes that I realized I can't pass the class. but when I went to his classes prior to that he was amazing at explaining notes, went step by step, made sure everyone understood and followed through. amazing professor, and easy to reach out to!
Such an amazing teacher and takes a lot of time to make sure everyone understands the material
4 exams, 10 pop quizzes (can drop lowest 2 grades), online hw gains 5% EC if completed a day before the due date. Lectures are not published online so must attend class. Very sweet and caring professor who will always make sure students understand material before moving on. Easy to get help/ask him questions. Just pay attention and you'll do well.
This professor is the nicest man ever! He taught really well and made sure the class understood. I thought all the topics were fairly easy, but you must do well on the 3 exams to get a good grade. They are worth a lot and cover a lot of content. The exams were easy if you studied all the problems in the notes.
This professor is very strict, only cares about plagiarizing while using Honorlock, than actually helping his students. You will fail the course if you don't pass the exams w/ a C or higher. Exams are heavily weighed. Prof doesn't allow ANY extra credit but believes you can pass the class by communicating his high hopes and well wishes to you.
I enjoyed this class, even though I hate math! My biggest complaint is how heavily the exams are weighted, and that may be out of his control. The professor responds to questions quickly. His expectations are outlined THOROUGHLY in the syllabus. The class moves very fast and it's easy to fall behind if you don't work on it daily.
Makes it nearly impossible to pass this class since the exams are worth 60% of your grade. I don't understand how his other math classes are allowed extra credit and dropped exams but Calc 1 isn't? If you take this class be prepared to self teach.
Amazing professor! Inspirational, truly caring, has a great teaching method. I was lucky to take Calculus with him.
He is a great teacher who will help the class if youre struggling.
Professor Al-Suleiman is the sweetest professor I've ever had. He genuinely cares about his students, and he makes sure that we understand everything. The workload is pretty light, and there's usually only 2 assignments per week. He's an amazing professor, and throughly enjoyed his teaching style.
He is great and is always willing to help! I'm quite sure that anyone who has anything bad to say about him put in zero effort. If you come to class and do the assignments, you'll be fine. Great professor!
First time rating a professor, and all I can say is take his class if you want to pass calculus!!! His notes are amazing, homework matches the quizzes, and he takes his time to explain everything clearly. Super helpful and really cares if students understand the material. If you have the option, take his class you won't regret it!
Dr. Suleiman was a great and fun professor. He was very sweet and highly knowledgeable. Attendance isnt taken but notes are rarely posted and you will learn much better in person. He also does pop quizzes and will warn you in advance during class. Overall great professor, definitely recommend!
Amazing Professor, His syllabus and instructions are very clear, he posts daily reminders about HW assignments to ensure his students are on track and send them to your email. He works fairly with all student, and is always there for his students when they need help or clarifications. I would definitely take him again and I highly recommend him!
I love this teacher so much. He teaches very thoroughly and won't hesitate to help students. After many horrible math teachers, this class is a breath of fresh air
I have never had an online course as difficult as this one. Calculus is tough but this prof made it harder. with daily assignments and lectures that did not line up with assignments. There are endless equations to be memorized as he does not allow any notes or a calculator on exams which may be my biggest pet peeve.
I LOATHE math of any sort but this was the best math course I've ever taken. Professor provides concise and clear instructions in his lecture videos. Deadlines are strict, but assignments are not immensely time-consuming. He takes the time to look at individual exam results and adjust grades accordingly. 10/10 would recommend.
I feel like this professor may be different in person. However, his online teaching style is rigorous. You will have to watch a bunch of lecture videos, not by him a completely different person. You have to memorize equations/rules etc. There is 5 assignments due per week monday-friday. Tests are weighted 60% there's only 3.
I had such a good time taking this class. Al-Suleiman has a decently heavy accent, but his teaching style is amazing and very clear. He goes through the same type of teaching every class. He presents a new idea, and then goes over examples multiple times, going through each step through detail. He also waits for questions. Amazing professor.
DO NOT TAKE!
Please, please, please take his class if you want to learn calculus. I failed calc the first time I took it and he genuinely explains things so clearly. He will ask after every example problem if you have a question and will explain it 10 times over again. He is so caring and doesn't give a final exam. Very honest about grading and tests.
Al Suleiman is my GOAT. He has a slight accent during his lectures that's made up for by how thorough he is. You can tell he wants everyone to succeed. If you're taking his class, NEVER miss a lecture and be sure to study very hard because bc its extremely difficult to go back up (only graded by 3 exams). Thank you and happy holidays Prof. Al Sulei
Professor Suleiman was a decent professor. The class was considered mandatory since he had pop quizzes on either class day, so you really never knew unless you went to class. His lectures were just notes, and then homework, which was given after. His notes were sometimes very confusing, and I barely used them. Nice guy, not the best teacher.
He is amazing and teaches so well. He makes Calculus so clear and makes sure we all understand it. There's no attendance but he gives a quiz randomly once a week. It's very easy and sometimes could be just one question from what we learned. He drops the lowest 3 either way. Overall, very kind and was the reason I finally understood math.
