He actually shows that he cares about you passing the course and will go out of his way to help you, but he won't sugarcoat anything or hold your hand. He's strict but very fair. Very funny guy as well.
Dr. Jenkins is a very straight forward professor. He gives out review sheets before every quiz with enough time to study. Follow the review sheet and you will pass. The quizzes are always based on the slides. If you need help just ask him, he will help. Would def. take again.
His class is so hard to pass. He issues 7 more chapters to memorize, in total 19 chapters. Other biology professors only issue 12 chapters. If you take this professor, be prepared to study for 6 hours, everyday single day, if you want a good grade. In addition, his syllabus is unorganized.
Dr. Jenkins is a great Professor. He "assists not enables". I'm not a fan of Biology but I enjoy his class. The tests are multiple choice but the answers are really similar. Overall if you study an hour everyday and read before lecture then you'll succeed in the class.
His power points are not really power points because the power points cover every page of every chapter. You basically have to read the whole biology book, if you want a good grade. He lectures go over everything that is on every page, so you have no idea what to study for.
I took SCB 203 lecture with prof. Jenkins. Overall, he's helpful. He always give out exam reviews and particle exams before every quiz. His exam is not that hard if you really study. I think he is a good professor.
Considering the fact that this is (usually) a very interactive course, I'd overall advise people to be aware that he isn't very interactive. Don't expect slides or lectures. You have the feeling that you are thrown into the air to either learn the material straight from the textbook, or by hitting the study hall as much as you can!!!!!
At first I thought he would be a great teacher, the first day it seemed like the class would actually be fun and interesting. Then I realize that going to class is actually no help, he teaches straight out the textbook. Isn't helpful at all, plus if you ask a question be prepare to be ridiculed. Be ready to read all day.
Can seem really tough but he's actually so kind & really willing to help. I'm a psych major & got an A in his class. Very straight forward with tests, Midterm and a final. NON accumulative. EXCELLENT review sheets & practice quizzes! He's a REAL professor, Meaning COLLEGE level. this isn't high school NO EXTRA CREDIT. READ & STUDY you'll do great.
Not an easy class to stay awake in and is not engaging at all.
Well, although half of my class dropped out and complained about Professor Jenkins. I actually really enjoyed his class. He does 3 chapters a day and goes really fast. He does slow down or repeat the stuff that is important for tests. One suggestion I have is read the textbook before coming to class. His quizzes are ok if you study.
ProfessorJenkins knows his stuff. clear lectures and if you focus you will not have a difficult time passing the class. He is willing to help. but you have to do your part.
I was very confused throughout this course. His teaching method was not the best for me. He only read from the slides, and would be surprised if the class did not understand the concept. By the end of the semester more than half of the class dropped this course. He only grades based on quizzes and tests, and there's not room for improvement.
A professor who wasn't really helpful. He would do two or three chapters per week, which was a torment.
"Anything that comes out of my mouth you'll be held accountable for" and that's true for his exams. His tests go loyally by his study guides and his chapter outlines are great to have instead of carrying the textbook. He gives you the resources and its up to you to work for it, a fair grader and is honest with his errors. Approachable when needed.
Straightforward, brutally honest, but brutally fair. You have to read for this course, but he is more than willing to help you. Funny guy too!
Dr. Jenkins is a very fair teacher. Certainly, makes you think and challenges you. He also pushes you, which students need that are pursing health care careers. Certainly, read your textbook; it is easy to fall behind in class. He is available to help his students and does care about his students. Overall, I appreciate his method of teaching.
Dr. Jenkins is an amazing professor! Students must put in the effort & read the chapters or you will not succeed in this class, or any other health science classes or programs. Very much accessible after class and is always willing to help any student who is willing to learn. Quizzes & tests are not difficult, study guides are provided.
He appears tough at first, but he does genuinely cares about his students. He is more than willing to help you, but he won't just give you the answers. He takes the time to explain things. He is a true educator, and takes his job very seriously.
Dr. Jenkins' is an awesome A&P instructor. You will learn and retain the knowledge. Study is study guides that he provide for easy exams. Those guides will "guide" you to an A
Definitely, I don't recommend him because his lecture style basically read really fast from the powerpoint slide. Most of the time has 2 chapters each day, total 13 quizzes and tests( include lab exam and mid & final).
Even though SCB203 is a hard class and there is a lot of information, Professor Jenkins presents it in a manner that makes it easy to follow. You have to put the time and effort in the class, but he will work with you outside of class. People say he is tough, but he is completely fair and honest which I prefer.
Professor Jenkin is great!!!! I learned so much from him. Tests are not bad if you prepare well using his study guide. He is always there to help you even outside the class.
Professor Sultan is the best!!!!!!
Professor Jenkins is one of the better AP professors at LAGCC. Although his lectures are fast paced, he provides tons of support & resources so his students can learn. AP is a very heavy course & requires a lot of reading & grasping of concepts to do well. If read the slides or textbook & use the study guides, you're gonna ace this course.
Great Professor. He really cares about his students he will take his time to explain if you dont understand. His lectures are amazing. You will really need to study for but it is worth it.
Although this was a repeat, it was as if i was now fully understand the topics. His lecture slides were straight forward, and all questions were answered respectfully. I will definitely take any course taught by this prof. He curves and is lenient when needed, but know your work.
The best A & P professor in LAGCC. He's very fair, his exams are not tricky, he provides you with every tool necessary to succeed in the class. He provides study guides for each quizzes and exams. Everything he repeats in class always comes on the exam, please be sure to take notes on what he repeats. Take him. You would not regret!!!
This class is has a heavy workload, so be prepared. I found this prof. to be helpful, articulate, and clear on what is expected of students. Makes sure everyone grasps a concept before moving on. Seems very knowledgeable and can easily answer questions on related topics not covered in class. Great at simplifying complex ideas, keeps it interesting.
I had him for SCB203 at LAGCC. Dr. Jenkins replies to emails right away and sends out extra resources by email. I asked a lot of questions and he gladly answered all of them. He genuinely wants you to do well. Do not miss the multiple choice lecture quizzes because make-ups are written. Do not miss the practical exams!
He teaches really well!!
Great professor who wants you to do well in his course. He sends out study guides & practice quizzes for lec/lab. His lab slides contain the models with labeled parts which is so helpful for the practicals. No extra credit/curves. Makeup quizzes are 4 short answer questions. He sends out emails with your current overall grade after every quiz/exam.
Willing to help and answers questions after classes. Seems moody at times. Study guides are irrelevant most times, just read the entire slide since every topics are repeated on the study guides.
He is a very enthusiastic professor with a good presentation skill. Very stimulating lectures and brilliantly taught. Lectures and labs are well organized, put the effort in lectures so that students can not only learn but know the concepts. keeps track on your grade. Provide study guides, his ppt slides are best. He is the best professor.
So I took 203 with a different professor, and I didnt know how bad I had it until I took professor Jenkins for 204. Hes by far the best professor I have had in LaGuardia. If u take him, be ready to work for your A. Hes very organized, and gives you plenty of notes to guide you. If you want to learn, hes your professor. Good luck!!
The best teacher I had in Lagcc. He made SCB203 fun to be in and it was a 6 week session. Hilarious and caring. Makes me want to work harder. He is very transparent with everything! Norepinephrine!
this was my first time taking 203. If you can survive A&P during the summer you can survive anything. He is very honest, helpful, and gives you tools to succeed. He won't baby you but is very fair and extremely knowledgable on everything he talks about. I would definitely recommend him to anyone taking 203. READ SYLLABUS!!!
Human anatomy is a tough subject overall but Prof. Jenkins is THE MAN!!!! I took this course over a 6-week period and I feel so accomplished with everything I have learned in such a short amount of time. He prepares you for the quizzes and exams very WELL!!! He gives study guides and is extremely helpful, he genuinely wants his students to LEARN!
He is a really good professor and he is teaching you how to study hard for your class make sure you go over his exam review and always ask the question also email him he answers right away. if you don't understand something go to his office and asks him he is very helpful. his exam, not that hard essay 100 the first three exam
He is super thorough. Available all the time. Read your syllabus it's important. He will teach you not enable you. Work hard and you'll get what you deserve. Study guides are available. This course is intense but with good time management and comphrension the professor will be there to help you push through the intensity.
He is very condescending and angry professor. He is accommodating to his students at all. I dropped his course . He does not explain himself or help out with questions he was read your lectures, he makes fun of his students in his class. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HIM
Awful and disrespectful professor. This professor was not even understanding when issues would happen during test with the websites used. Don't tae this class with this professor.
Worst Professor who is not realistic at all. He will always treat student's problem as an excuse and will shame you in the class. So disrespectful and mean. His tests are so tough and most of questions need critical thinking. And it become extremely difficult when you have 25 questions to answer in 25 minutes.
Great professor, I would definitely recommend it.
A&P is a tough class, so how the instructor lectures is very important. Dr. Jenkins speaks very clearly and explains things throughly, but you have to put in the time to study.
He is by far the best A&P instructor at LaGuardia. He is very straightforward and no-nonsense but is fair and transparent.
really angry, disrespectful prof, wants students to fail, quizzes not straightforward. would never help or work with a student if any issue.
I took professor sultan Jenkins during the pandemic and NO HE WASN'T HELPFUL AT ALL. He at times made us feel like he is just there to finish his lectures and that's it. He expects you to have the fastest internet so if your internet crashed or blackboard is stuck, he makes it seem like we are lying. Please be careful before choosing him.
Horrible , dont take classes with him !!
He uploads all recorded lectures onto blackboard which is helpful and shows that he put in the effort to make it as easy as possible in the midst of a pandemic. This is not an easy class, you have to work for it and can't slack off, say bye to your social life and "me" time. Quizzes every week. You have to study every week in order to pass.
Prof Jenkins knows his work. he does try to embarrass you if you dont know your work. SCB 203 is not a easy class, you have to study outside of class A lot of information. His quizzes are all from his lectures so make sure you pay attention
DO NOTTT pay attention to the "good reviews" he is the worst!! so many people i know say the same. he is a TOUGH grader. exams are not what you studied in his lectures! he doesnt care about his students. i really dont know how he has good reviews literally half my class dropped his course! people were dropping like flies. don't do it to yourself.
Horrible , so many dropped this class
In general A&P is a really hard course. At the beginning Sultan Jenkins will talk nice and seems like he is the best but dont be fool by his acting ! He is a horrible professor. No extra credits. On Quizzes & exams? He will make u beg him for topic related questions. He includes off topic/chapters questions. Avoid him at any cost !!
No extra credit what so ever. But sure he wont miss the chance to make you regret that you made a bad choice by picking him as your professor. If you think to see him by taking his class & plan to drop if he bad, dont try !! First 2 week he acts nice . Its a trap !! Just Run away from him please.
Got grades but take it from me! Dont take him. Life is so much more than his class. He will make sure that college life is not for you . Take someone else but not him.
Wasnt a good idea to take his class. I regret taking him.
Dr. Jenkins is not the type of professor who will hold your hand, but he will give you the necessary information in order to pass the course. You must put in the work in A&P. He is fair and very transparent. He speaks very clearly and slowly, and will answer your questions. He is a great teacher.
I was struggling in the class, and then I followed one of Professor Jenkins' recommendations and had weekly meetings with him outside of class. When I did that, my understanding of the material became much better. I went from failing the course and possibly withdrawing, to now I actually have a chance at an A. He is tough, but he cares!
He teaches good but when it comes to exams or quizzes, He set questions like you taking a PHD course. I won't wish my enemy to take his class. You have to work hard for your grade.
Decent teacher but will not hold your hand and baby you. His study guides are long and vague. Not the best but not the worst. I don't like that sometimes he has a habit of embarrassing students with side comments.
he try to push students up. if you guys ready to work hard , and show him about your attempt from the first day until the last day of class. do with your best first, the rest he will support you for sure.
This is a hard class no matter who you take it with. Be prepared to work hard and then some because it is a lot of material. Professor Jenkins is top-notch and he will help you if you reach out to him, but he definitely expects you to do the work. He is very fair and his teaching style is clear and power points very thorough and well thought out.
Dr. Jenkins only wants the best for his students, which is to do well. He is very transparent and will assist you with the tools to do well. If you don't understand, say so, and you can always meet him outside of the class room to clarify. I would take his class again.
If you ask any questions more than once, he get upset. Explanation is very poor. He never stand while taking class, never uses black board. He uses only a digital indicator.
A&P is a very tough class regardless of the professor. Dr. Jenkins is no nonsense, but he is very fair and will help you if you seek help from him. His expectations are very high, but I liked the way that he explains things. He is a great teacher!
SCB 203 is difficult no matter the professor. Dr. Jenkins mainly speaks from PowerPoints which are very long. Graded based on only quizzes and exams. Lecture is multiple choice but lab is written and practical exams. Will keep it real with you. All he does is sit there and reads from PowerPoints, sometimes he attempts to make it easier.
if you want to fail for fun join this class. He is a liar and a manipulator like all men, but he will look you in your eyes and tell a bold face lie. laguardia doesnt have the best teachers but I swear i dont know how this professor got a job at teaching. good luck and hes racist.
I have nothing bad to say about Dr. Jenkins. He's not trying to be your friend but he wants his students to pass. He is helpful and organized. It helped so much that lecture slides/study guides were accesible. The tests/quizzes are difficult because the material is difficult but the tests themselves are fair as long as you study!
I realize how amazing is Prof Jenkins in my 203 after taking 204 with another prof. His powerpoints alone are super clear, informative and understandable. His amazing explanation skills reinforce that. He really knows how to clarify step by step and even understandable for those who are not good in English. Well experienced. Respect his work.
Your grades will suffer. He packs his power points full of so much extra bs & tests you on a few things. He will stress to you that you need to make his class your #1 priority; huge ego. Then makes the class hard on purpose & his exams are tricky. He does not care about his students. Reads right off the slides & gets annoyed answering questions.
His lectures are light. Tests are very heavy. Nothing comes from lectures. He tries to make everything extremely hard. Makes them complicated. Take this class with another professor with any cost.
He is tough but fair. He gives you a lot of resources and does walk you through the complicated stuff. Gives you a study guide and practice quizzes.
Even though I dropped A&P, it wasn't because of professor Jenkins. I wasn't ready for the demand of the course, A&P is very tough. Professor Jenkins takes his time and explains everything, he gives you a study guide and practice quizzes. I have heard nothing but good things about him, and I know many students want to take his clas.
He was a great professor was able to read the room when we did not understand and slow down Professor also tried to give opportunities for questions stopping between slide. He wants you to pass the class but you need to do the reading of the chapters and material
He is an amazing professor who doesn't mind explaining the lecture in a simpler way . He made us be prepared for the exams . I enjoyed going to class , since he would always keep us entertained with real life connections with the lecture. If u can please take him and give in your all because it does get hard .
One of the best professors I've had at LAGCC. He gives you all the necessary resources to be prepared in this class, however you need to put in the work to excel. I enjoyed attending his classes, he was clear, concise and very thorough in his explanations. I would definitely take him again if I had the chance! He wants all his students to pass.
He is cool I say read your slides before class and after and to The office hours.
He cram's your brain with lots of information that's not always on the test. The study guide is overwhelming and he just reads from the power points. He very sarcastic and insulting at times.
Great teacher.Explains thoroughly. You have to do your reading!!! and if you want to know your stuff not just to merely take a class and get credit this is the Professor you need to take. Many concepts I missed in 203 was made clear in 204 by professor Jenkins.I got a better grade than in 203.Wish I had taken his class in 203.Take this professor!!
He is a good professor, but prepare to study
I can only speak for myself, but I wouldn't have had to repeat the course if I had Professor Sultan the first time. The class is very tough, but he explains things very clearly and tells you what is going to be on the test. Those students who didn't like them, most likely didn't want to do the work.
If it wasn't for professor Sultan, I wouldn't have gotten into the nursing program. He's the best A&P teacher at LaGUARDIA, he's not easy but he helps and guides you. He basically tells you what is going to be on the test.
he is such an amazing professor, his slides is clear, meaningful. I took both 203 & 204 with him.He teaches really well.Though his test is little heavy, his teaching skills inspires me to take 204 with him and I never regread it! I really learn a lot of stuff in his class.
I believe this professor means well in teaching. However, this is by far the worst class I have ever taken. The study guides are unclear, and most of what's on them is not reflected on the tests. The required reading is extensive but often does not align with the exam content. Zero stars for teachingI genuinely want my money back.
He really cares and wants you to pass his class unlike other A&P teachers. Like any A&P class it is very difficult and you have to put in the time but he made this so much more bearable with his greatly worded powerpoint slides to look back on and his very helpful study guides and with those 2 it's a really helpful way to pass this difficult class
His slides are detailed even though there are a lot of slides. I don't like how his tone is sassy- i dont want to ask any questions or speak to him one on one because his tone makes me feel stupid for asking. sometimes hes helpful, other times the sass comes with it. or just sass alone. Take Howard Motoike, nice, very helpful, less heavy on exams.
Hey it's a tough class. The first time I took it I was completely loss because the teacher didn't try to explain things. Professor Jenkins is the opposite, and I actually understood the material better.
Professor Sultan is very good at explaining the content. I personally find him very helpful .
I don't think i would've gotten an A if not for this professor. His lectures and study guides are clear and align perfectly and going through the study guide made me feel confident going into exams because everything he makes you study is relevant to the test. Pay attention and study and you will do amazing in his class.
