She is horrible. People in the class including me were always asking her to repeat things because she has a horrible accent. There's no extra credit and the tests are very odd. I can't believe I got a "C" and I was reading my butt off in the class. She's not good with email. Avoid her at all costs!
She is a nightmare; you can’t understand anything she says. She covers a ton of material for each test and no matter how hard you try it’s almost impossible to do well in her class. Most people fail her tests and she refuses to curve or do anything to help you out. AVOID HER IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR G

Oddly enough, I had an opposite experience with her. I thought she was very helpful. I was unable to submit the paper on time or attend the midterm, and she gave me an extension for both, maybe I just got lucky? However, she was quite difficult to understand and her tests were hard, but I do feel like I learned alot in that class, which is cool.
Avoid this woman, I wish I would have know how horrible her class was going to be before I decided to take her. He covers a lot of material and there is a lot of reading involved and even if you go to class and read everything you have a hard time doing well on the test. Its a sure thing that most of people will fail her tests. Avoid her!
i had her for freshman experience and she was great! For this class she's extremely slack and is always available for you. I'm glad i had her. She's very understanding. The work isn't tough at all. You cant get anything but an A if u do everything.
Absolutely horrendous professor. Her accent is difficult to understand and the tests are overly difficult for the material taught. This is a required class but try to take it with another professor.
Horrible. Lectures one thing, Test has less than half her lecture. Avoid her if possible.
webct test taking too confusing...your not able to check over your answer...its a one shot deal, thats not cool. and whats up with those cards! like they make a diffenrece!
Avoid her at all costs. Very hard to understand, her exams don't cover material from her lectures or reviews. Makes it very difficult to do well.
She tries to be nice & understanding but I cant really say that she was. She takes forever to reply to your emails & makes many mistakes (such as w/some of the answers on her test or w/the requirements for a paper u have to turn in).Shes so hard to understand too. It's frustrating. Basically you only go to class for attendance, not really to learn
Excellent professor. She is very understanding and is always ready to help the students.
She's a great professor in the Honors class. She is well educated, and makes class very interesting in the smaller class lecture. She is very quiet in the larger lectures with the other teachers, probably because this was her first year teaching IDH. She's very kind and understanding, especially during all the hurricane stuff. Recommend for IDH.
Difficult class but you learn a lot. She could do better if she made her exams a little easier.
An excellent teacher. Want to be researcher, take her
Excellent professor. I wish other professors at FIU could learn form her and care for students. She is the best.
An excellent professor. Very knowledgeable and thorouogh in teaching. She cares for her students.
Does not explain things clearly, harsh accent.
WOW her test are nothing like what she lectures about. Your better off just reading the book. Very hard to understand and contradicts herself alot. Not sure what I got on final but would rather drive to north campus then take her class again. Makes alot of mistakes on test also and has no curving for anyone even if whole class fails a test.
Hard class. Test are not related to the lectures. Makes errors on exams and I would advice to drive to North campus instead.
she gives pointless lectures and study guides and the tests are extremely difficult.
I must agree with other comments: Her lectures are not related to the test. Actually, tests are very detailed from the book; she uses specific quotes, names, dates, etc from the book that you would never think of. Worthless lectures for the most part, no curves and very little opportunity to pass with an A. Be careful. Read chapters thoroughly!
Shes super confusing & VERY un-clear. Her notes and lectures don't match the test b/c she re-words everything and ends up being confusing. She gives tests online, but they're timed and you cannot go back to change your answers. I would nto take her again.
impossible

Stay away from this professor!!! Specially if you're going for Statistics!!!!!!
I had this teacher during the spring 2006 for statistics, it was very boring and her accent is horrible..she really tries hard to explain the information but you will find that there is a language barrier. She makes you attend every class and stay throughout the entire class... If you can tough it out, you will pass the class!
This prof. is hard and her test and paper are also unclear. The exams are just so hard to study for. Do not recomend.
Tests are extremely difficult. She says it tests application, more like she grabs random information and slaps it in there. Says she will do one thing, and ends up doing another. Absent minded as heck. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Studying wont help on tests. Can be fair, but more often is unfair and I don't think she knows it.
In contrast to what is on this website, Dr. Kakar is actually a great professor. SHe knows her stuff really well and she gives a lot of breaks when students don't understand stuff. She is really tough in terms of teaching but her niceness is apparent in her grading, understanding, and awesome teaching. I would recommend taking all her classes.
Tests are from book, lectures are powerpoint (that she also gives you via Webct). Read the book and study and you should do fine.
Great Professor
I do not recommend her. She does not return calls or emails. I just found that you received no feedback. I ended up dropping her class because I was unable to get in touch with her. She is not helpful.
Avoid this professor for statistics. TRUST ME. I had her for SummerC 2007. SHe's a horrible speaker, you cannot understand what she's talking about. You have to attendeevery class, she does not curve and has horrible exams. She has no sympathy and will fail u eeen if u try
Very well versed professor, willing to help, so long as you ask. She has a genuine interest in her students' success. Study, ask questions if lost and you'll do fine.
Avoid this professor. I took this class during the Summer and did not miss a single lecture. I also studied like crazy...and my final grade was a C. Her tests are super hard and the lectures are very BORING!
If you take this lady, be ready to be confused her test are super hard, she doesn't know much and she doesn't prepare her test well, I mean she includes things from previous chapters all the way to the last test.
Well you need to be really good on applied concepts in order to pass this class, because memorization doesn't help. read a lot, and study super hard. her test are very difficult and confusing. from like 70 people only 7 were left at the end of the term. I really don't recommend her!!
Very unorganized and does not care for students
Half the comments on this site aren't true. Dr. Suman Kakher is a really great professor, she is extremely knowledgeable, and very generous +kind when it comes to grading. I wish all my teachers were like this Profser.
Online course. Professor did not teach - she told us what chapters to read and gave quizzes. She is slow to respond to emails - if at all. We made official complaints to the Dept. Head in order to get her to respond. She seems to be more interested in playing "gotcha" than in making sure you learn. Unless you can learn on your own - don't sign up!
HORRIBLE TEACHER! Never responds to emails and if your lucky she'll respond after like 4-5 days. Doesn't allow students to see what they got wrong on tests, but then her final is cumulative. Class had to contact dept head to get on her case because she was unreachable! she's a student's NIGHTMARE! DONT take this professor!!!!!
This lady is HORRIBLE. It is very hard to understand what she is saying. Um... in our class she would forget what she was going to say and sometimes the students would remind her or even correct her because she was wrong in a lot of the times. Her tests are supper HARD. She also doesn't go on test days and she doesn't correct them. Don't take her.
Don't take this professor, she has way too much trouble with the english language. I recommend she be put in an international studies program, she is pretty bad. I barely understood any of her points. She has a heavy hindu accent.
Don't even bother taking any course with her. I now graduated and she is by far the worse teacher of all times. She hates to teach or to explain and makes you feel dumb if you ask.3 exams fill in math answers and Her assistant grades them incorrectly. She is a mess at explaining and has a thick accent. TAKE THE course with "Rob Guerrete" and get an
If one thing about this professer, she is EXTREMELY nice. She is so considerate of students and truly cares for them. I had to miss 3 classes for health reasons and I was SOO impressed by her gracius support and genuine interest in making the course interesting. When it comes to grading, she is tough, but VERY fair.
This prof knows how to get her material across while being interesting and relatable. The material was easy to understand and alot of it was common sense. Reading the chapters really helps though.
I took her online honors class. It couldn?t be any more interesting! she is VERY LENIENT and FAIR, but she takes forever to respond and is not prepared. Her class is not tedious at all, but her assignments are very advanced thinking- I honestly don?t see an idiot understanding this class. A trouble-free, yet intellectual class- you won?t regret it
I took her online, so I didn't have to worry about language barriers. The class was not that difficult, BUT the exam format was pretty ridiculous. Her study guides are pretty helpful, but it's best you make notes of your own on each chapter, otherwise you are doomed. If you study really hard and don't let yourself fall behind, you should be fine.
Shw is the worst teacher ever. No one should take her. Her test are confusing and she likes to get upset. She asks questions that is not even cover in the book.
This should be the easiest class ever in college, but with this woman, there is no way u will get something easy. Getting an A shouldn't be a problem if u do everything she says, but compared to other SLS teachers, she is like 3 times harder, which sucks . . .
worst ever i had to take her bu default but i wish i could of had some one else what a joke her gradeing scale is the worst avoid
Professor is not very clear with the content on how the course will be handled. The syllabus are frequently not clear. Website did not help too much in how to work on projects. Professor is hard to reach, and takes a while to answer e-mails. It is very complicated to know what she really wants to be turn in.
HORRIBLE PROF. Always unclear with course expectations and what she wants you to do; assignments are always very unorganized and never well-planned or thought out; a number of times this teacher has actually lost my assignments. Grading scale is ridiculous for someone who isn't even clear with what she wants you to hand in. Rarely answers emails.
This professor is horrible. I'm a straight A junior student with only 1 B prior to taking her. With this "professor" I passed with barely a B-. Her tests are so hard because she does not go over the necessary material in class. She covers baby things in class then makes the test very hard. She makes AWFUL tests. DO NOT TAKE HER. You've been warned.
Hate to say it but she might be one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She is very unclear, uses power points but then tells you some of the info is wrong and others not to study. Then forgets she said that and puts it on the test. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!
wow just wow
I do not understand what others say. She is th ebest professor I have had
why is this lady teaching she is bad tells you to foucs and study one thng and that doesnt even show up on the test not good at all
Online, this professor is difficult to contact. The syllabus was not ready before the course started. There were four textbooks and you have to read them all. Finally, the final exam was focused on ridiculously specific details. I would not recommend her for this class unless you have a photographic memory.
Garbage, just garbage. Grading scale is tough! 3 exams, 30 each, then 10 points for 10 discussions. 150 minutes for each exam with 75 questions! INSANE!
to be honest her class is not easy! the discussions are easy but the exams are not! anyways, this prof is willing to help if you have any problems. overall i will recommend her.
Never miss a class , mid term and final , extremely detailed exams. Reviews are too broad and end up studying things that wont even make it onto the test. Weekly post and responses online of 300 words.
Although she is somewhat "nice" her class is HARD. Everyone begged for extra credit and she gave a 5 point assignment. Her tests are so detailed that even if you read the chapter twice you will just do poorly. I received a B struggling; however, the final exam was just a tiny bit easier than the other 2 but I still couldn't get an 100 -.-
Canot understand a word this women says, speaks so quietly you cannot hear a thing. study guide for the exam was useless. Had us answer 4 of 6 essay ?s, discretely told us we had to answer 1 of them specifically, worth 30 points. I did not hear her say that so guess which one I chose not to answer!Material is easy, organization is a total disaster
Study guides and powerpoints are useless.she told us the first day of class we didn't have to buy the book and then after the first exam assured us it was needed.Evenif you had the book the material was too broad and exam questions were poorly written.nothing we covered was in the exam and I attended class.she is a nice lady but class not organize
THIS CLASS IS HARD AND THE PROFESSOR DOESN'T HELP AT ALL. I TOOK IT ON LINE AND YOU HAD TO BE ON TOP OF IT AND SUBMIT 2 DISCUSSIONS ALMOST EVERY WEEK. AT THE TIME FOR THE MID TERM AND FINAL, NONE OF THE MATERIAL WAS ON IT. SHE DOESN'T GIVE ANY TYPE OF STUDY GUIDE, SO YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO STUDY & DOESN'T GIVE ENOUGH TIME TO TAKE THE TEST ON LINE
Awesome teacher. Learned alot n loved thE class. Highly recommend her
she is a great teacher...you will pass her class.
She's nice and If you study, you will pass this class. I would take her again.
Required 2 posts per week (1 original 1 response) easy grader, Exams are straight from book. No extra work req, overall easy class if you just read.
Horrible professor, Powerpoint and reviews were pointless, nothing she said was on the tests, not even reading the book twice would help you get a good great on her class, the class overall was a waste of time..ADVICE if you want a good grade find another professor.
This professor is horrible. I am taking her now and it will take a lot for me to pass this class. Her exams are 30% each and online discussions 10%, so if you don't pass the exams, you're done. She does not give any reviews whatsoever - she only sends out a test bank with questions that are not even on the test. Do not take her!
Do not take her! She is very disorganized, has a very thick accent which makes it extremely hard to understand her, and her grading scale is really tough! she takes forever to respond to emails. Her lectures are excruciatingly boring and powerpoints have nothing with the exams. If you want to fail, then take this class!
The comments below are on point. She lectures off pointless slides that have nothing to do with the test. You sit there learning about nothing for 2 hours. The exams are tough and very specific. It would be nice if she lectured on what's on the test. I advise you simply take another professor.
Overall, an easy class if you read the books. The final paper was a little tough and time consuming, though.
Not easy, hard, confusing,bad!!!!
Will take her in a heartbeat. Great Professor despite what others say
Great professor. Loved the class and learnt a lot
Best class I ever took. Learnt a lot. The professor is extremely helpful and responds to questions.
Absolutely great class. Learnt so much about Juveniles. Professor is amazing.
She is funny and makes many jokes but never laughs. If you pay attention, you learn a lot. A great professor.
she did not provide enough information for a study guide. Very unhappy with the class.
Had to drop the class over how horrible she was. Nothing she said or reviewed about was on the the test. Why am I paying to attend your class if everything on the test is from the book or lack thereof. Thick, hard to understand accent too. Avoid her like the plague, or you will regret it.
Easy weekly discussions and three exams straight from readings from the textbook
She gave plenty of work... easy but tedious. She would answer e-mails pretty quickly. Not the most entertaining class but easy. You have to be lazy to not pass the class. I thought she was really nice and gets to know you when you do the student interview assignment. I would recommend her.
Great Professor. Loved the class.
She included many questions (more than 15) on the first exam that we hadn't covered because they were from later chapters. Her solution? Write an 800 word paper to get four extra credit points on the test that would equate to 10 correct questions. There are also 10 500 word assignments that are only worth a total 10% of the final grade . Stay away!
Great learning experience. She provides instant feedback and is fair.
This class is easy. She makes it very interesting with video clips. I like the fact that she makes students present in class. Good experience.
Loved the class. She shows concern about students and responds quickly to questions. Makes sure students understand.
Great professor. Cares for her students and provides instant feedback
She is great. Wants you to do well. Gives you projects so that you can earn easy points. Makes the class interesting with videos and other things.
Prof. Kakar is the bomb!!! And every other synonym for awesome!!!!! Thank you so much
Excellent professor Compassionate Cares for her students
Professor you are the very best!!! I have completed it and I humbly thank you for doing all you can to help me and for depositing your knowledge of the criminological theory course.
She is a great teacher.
Such a hater. You must be a professional writer to get a good grade on the weekly discussions! Dont even think to include anything that is not your own thoughts. She will label you and threaten you for plagiarism, even if you list your sources. Be ready to write a lot and the course is awfully boring-old dry theories with not use in future. Awful!
I took this class for spring 2015 and i wanted to drop it since the beginning but I decided to continue with it and it was a huge mistake. she only gives 2 tests , discussion posts, and a long research paper to write about.
Kakar is a great professor. Expects you to read the chapters before class, she goes off of you for her lectures. Very to the point. Gives a great extensive review before test! Study it and you'll ACE it !! Super easy presentation, along with paper. Do the discussions, will help you out. Only thing I hate is that everything is thru her TA!!!
I took this course in the summer semester and the course wasn't easy nor was it too hard. There were about 6 quizzes, 2 exams and 5 discussions. Tests were a little bit challenging but if you read the book you'll be okay.
This Teacher has very high expectations in so little time, get ready to read and memorize every single word. for example " her study guide/review goes like this, study all power slides, the entire 5 chapters and discussions to ans. 25 random questions. no sense in asking her for help, because she don't care if you get it or not, nothing changes.
She is a tough professor. You have to read your materials to pass but you get to learn real theory.
Such an amazing professor. Wish there were more like her. Recommend her to all those who want to learn theory.
This is a very interesting class and the teacher is terrific.
If you go to class, read, and pay attention to the powerpoints then you will pass. simple!! Material is tough so you must put effort. 3 test and a few quizes/discussions to boost your grade.
BEWARE test are hard, stressful, timed, strict, manipulative teacher. She doesn't help, her post are standoffish, she couldn't careless if you pass. She only added extra credit of 5 points (2 page essay) i guess cuz students were complaining. I suggest you get a link up with classmates & don't miss anything or you'll regret it.
I understand that this is a graduate course, but honestly, this is the most difficult class ever. She gives way too much work for just an elective course. U read three books, have weekly discussions that must be 500 words, a 20 page paper you have to write, and a final exam! Seriously, do not take this class unless you plan on putting in effort.
Term paper, bi weekly discussions, final exam and extra credit makes up your grade. Put in effort and you will pass. She's highly responsive to emails.
3 test.. help powerpoints. People who complain about Kakar are lazy and expect an easy A.
Just do the work and you will pass, SIMPLE!!
Group presentation w/ reflection paper, weekly discussions, midterm and final. Her lectures can be a bit lengthy but she wants to make sure you understand the material. Everything builds on previously learned subjects. She is very understanding and her TA Marco is also great. I've taken her for 2 CJ courses.
Excellent Professor. Teaching the class like seminar. The professor is very accommodating and listens to students. Clarifies and makes learning fun and interesting. Gives real life examples. Makes you want to work and learn more.
Amazing Professor. Accommodating and easy going. Simplifies materials. Gives weekly quizzes. Easy to get an A if you read - it is one chapter at a time.
She is simply great! She is a bit mono toned and since her lectures are usually lengthy if you're like me who is easily distracted you might get tired but worth it! She makes sure everything is clear. Always open to questions and really tries to involve everyone to make sure everyone gets it.
15 quizzes, (1 for every chapter in the book) but they are not all due until the last day of the semester. The quizzes come directly from the book and the book is pretty interesting to read, chapters are about 8-10 pages. 5 discussion post, fairly easy, but if you do not meet the amount of words she ask for she deduct ALOT of points. Easy A.
The best professor . Very fair. Cares for her students.
Amazing professor. Her new book is excellent. It is an honor to take the class from her. I will rate her the best professor.
Her lectures are amazing. You actually learn. I love this class.
I took this online class to finish my BS and based on previous ratings I thought it'd be difficult, but the class is pretty clear-cut. 15 quizzes, open all semester, two Discussions (500 words), and 3 easy papers. Each one based off the previous one. Definitely take the class if you need to! Quiz questions are in the book! Just READ.
Review your syllabus and pace yourself. She has all the quizzes opened up so it's up to you to finish all before the last date. She gives 3 essays and 1 Discussion. That was the best text book I've ever seen, the chapters are all short and sweet. Read, highlight sentences and the quizzes are a breeze only 15 questions.
Quiz on every chapter. She is very caring, and flexible with the quizzes. A bit annoying with wanting us to talk but the subject is SO boring. Half in class and the rest submitted online. Would take again. Definitely had to have the good to pass since the questions were her own. A couple of discussion, and 500 word papers.
Awesome professor. Learnt a great deal. Will definitely take her again and recommend her.
Awesome Professor. Very thorough and easy to follow. Requires participation and discussion in class. Like her style. Pays attention to the students' learning.
Awesome and amazing professor. I will recommend her to all CJ majors. The best. Very understanding, caring and concerned about making sure that students learn the theories. Love her teaching style.
Awesome professor. Very understanding and caring. She has 3 writing assignments that are very straight to the point but be prepared to work for an A. She does not just give them away. You have to earn them in this class. I highly recommend her.
Simply awesome Professor. She cares for her students. Her lectures are thorough and easy to follow. She is very prompt in responding to students' inquiries. Very compassionate and wants to make sure that students learn. Her teaching style is the best. Pays attention to the students' learning and is compassionate.
Very good professor. She will make you work for your grade. Three discussion posts, quizzes for every chapter on lockdown browser and three writing assignments. Read the book, it not only helps with your assignments and quizzes but it is a great read!
Overall, not a bad prof at all. Her course was fairly easy. 15 quizzes worth 4.95 points/ 3 papers worth 7 points/ and 2 discussions each worth 2 points. She gave extra credit at the end of the semester.
I like that the test were open all semester so you can work at your pace. Required three written papers and gives you the topic so fairly easy. stay n top o the reading and classes and you will pass
Easy class. 15 quizzes. 2 discussions. 3 writing assignments. You do need the textbook. Simple class. Would take her again.
Take this class!! Easy A. 10 quizzes - 10 questions each - all multiple choice. 5 surveys/interviews with a 200 word paragraph attached talking about how the survey/interview went. Literally was so simple. Assignments all were open till the end of the semester so you completed everything on your own time.
This is my second class with Dr. Kakar. She really knows her stuff on human trafficking, and is really the sweetest lady if you have questions. 10 relatively easy quizzes (if you have the book), and 5 surveys plus 5 reflections. This class was a real eye opener, and made me aware of all of the weirdos I encounter in everyday life
Really good teacher, have taken for 2 classes. Would recommend and if this wasnt my last year, would also take again.
If you are looking for an easy global learning class or general elective, this is the class to take with this professor. I cannot stress how easy this class is. Do yourself the favor and take her! She wrote her own book, and bases her quizzes off them. No midterm or final. Some quizzes may be found online.
This class is easy, JUST READ AND GET THE TEXTBOOK. There are 10 quizzes and 5 Surveys, no midterm or finals. Dont try to find answers online for quiz, you wont find them.
This class is easy. 10 quizzes & 5 surveys. Get the textbook because all answers are in the book, NOT online.
She is so straightforward and not so heavy. Only had 3 writing assignments and 15 quizzes from the textbook. The textbook is found online and all the answers are in the textbook. Does not overfill your emails, super nice, and easiest class I've taken because of her! 100% recommend her for an online class!
The reason why she gets a bad review from me is because i has an 89% in her class and emailed her 3 times before she responded to me about extra credit. i wrote her a 3 page paper for extra credit and she never bumped up my grade
I have taken Professor Kakar for two courses now, and I absolutely would take her again if I am able to. She opens up all assignments in the course so you can work at your own speed. She also responds to emails very quickly and is super understanding. I highly recommend her! She does not make classes unneccesarily hard like other professors.
One of the easiest classes I have taken by far. Gives you the whole semester to finish 10 quizzes which answers are all in the book and 5 assignments which are super easy as well. If you are looking for an easy A take this class.
Easiest course I've taken at FIU yet. With that being said, I learned almost nothing. The professor was not active in the course whatsoever, which made the course feel more like a checklist of tasks rather than a learning experience. I emailed her twice and never got a reply, so I gave up. There are 10 quizzes and 5 surveys, all are super easy.
very easy assignments but 10 quizzes graded heavy
This is my second time taking this professor, she is a pretty consistent professor. We had weekly quizzes on lockdown, discussions every other week, and surveys that we had to conduct every other week as well. As long as you stay on top of your work you'll be fine, pretty easy A.
Decent class, interesting reading but there is a lot of reading. Survey's and discussions due every other week. 10 quizzes that can be done whenever. She has a TA that handles any questions. Pretty easy class just do the work.
She's nice and will respond to emails. No extra credit! She's a bit very specific with how she wants the discussions and papers done though. The quizzes are using lockdown browser but use the book and her power points they help. (3 papers/2 discussions/15 quizzes) The topics for the papers and discussions are interesting and make you think.
This prof should not be teaching an online class. the answers to her exam were wrong, and she does not even give you enough time to do the extra credit
There are quizzes, surveys, and discussions but the quizzes you can work ahead because some of the surveys and discussions are locked. Some of the quizzes are challenging, the surveys and discussions helped me passed the class with an A even tho my grade kept going up one point for each A I received per assignment.
I liked how her assignments were not tough at all, she is a good grader and quizzes are easy and straight to the point.
Pretty easy class! Would recommend her for anyone looking for a easy class. Everything is already open other than discussion boards.
Really surprised this professor did not get a higher rating. She was very chill and allowed people to work at their own pace. I finished all the assignments a month before the final due dates. Few assignments and very easy. She is also very down-to-earth and nice. Definitely would recommend.
TAKER HER!! 10 quizzes (just use and read the textbook) and 5 surveys where you have to interview members of the general public and law enforcement. EASY GRADER AND INTERESTING TOPIC
I am shocked that this professor does not have a higher rating. All her assignments have clear instructions, and she has ten quizzes open for the whole semester. Five surveys and a few discussions. Easy like a Sunday morning. People who gave her lower grades are lazy. Take this professor, and you won't regret it.
the work wasn't really all that hard but be careful, she doesn't reopen test and quizzes so if you dont complete them on time you will receive a 0. She is extremely a tough grader and she has no heart for close grades i ended class with a literal 79 and theirs was nothing that she was willing to no matter what i asked. Totally ruthless
Should be a VERY easy class to pass with an A+, but she grades very strangely. Almost every student is hit with a mass reply of "check grammar" with no further explanation. She docks points for this. Will not respond to emails or simply clarify when asked: what the grammar mistakes are - instead attempts to intimidate you by ordering a meeting!!?
Professor would write the same poorly worded comment on every discussion post and claim that the writing had bad grammar and made no sense. Never responds when you ask what was wrong. All the other students in the class got the same message from her, copied and pasted, and her comment was grammatically incorrect! Worst professor ever.
SHOULD be an easy class to pass, but she grades strangely. She mass replies to over 90% of her students to "check grammar", and docks a random amount of points for this. When asked to clarify or highlight your mistakes, you either get ignored or asked to set up an interview on the weekends? People simply want clarification - not to be interviewed.
10 quizzes and 2 paper. Every quiz had trick questions in it and there was always more than one correct answer listed but you had to choose the one SHE wanted or fail. The papers were graded via turn it in and she is strict on grammar and citations. Copies and pastes the same non-descriptive comments across all students papers. Very disappointed.
Her quizzes can be somewhat tricky but overall not bad. The discussions are lengthy. There are two papers on very interesting topics and one extra credit opportunity. What I loved most about is her is her weekly follow up e-mails. She is very helpful and caring. You can tell she loves what she does and that is very important to me as a student.
Very straightforward with the assignments. There's a set of 15 quizzes which you'll need LockDown and the quizzes are open from the beginning of the term. 5 surveys that you need to send to professionals and write your opinion about the answer. No midterm, no final. Definitely get the book because the quizzes are straight from the book.
Class is pretty easy. She did not provide much information on assignment expectations. She had a total of 15 questions, all easy and all based on the text book. She had a series of 4/5 surveys which are easy however there is no explanation for what is expected. Other than that it is easy, she does switch up on the surveys so be cautious.
Overall, doable class. Her structure consists of 10 quizzes and 5 surveys. The surveys were a bit challenging since there is really no clear criteria but she grades it somewhat harshly. Just make sure to read and get good grades on the quizzes (btw her book is NOT free, you have to pay for her book that she wrote, or buy pantherpack).
Must pass syllabus quiz to start the course. 3 surveys, their instructions were unclear, and multiple students reached out on what she expected. Good resources on subject provided. 10 quizzes that you get 1 attempt on. Get HER book. Overall easy grader. Kind and straight to the point, which I appreciate. She wants you to succeed!
Professor Sirpal's class is a breeze. The quizzes can be tricky, but the surveys and discussions are straightforward. Staying on top of the work and utilizing resources like unstuck AI make this an easy A. Highly recommended for an interesting yet manageable course.
Dr. Kakar sent us a sweet message at the end of the semester which I appreciated, but her class still wasn't great. There's 15 quizzes due at the end of the semester and 5 surveys which are so annoying. It's not a huge workload at all, but she is very hard to communicate with. I was so frustrated I didn't turn in an assignment for the first time.
The class was easy, 5 survey reflections and 10 quizzes which are open for the entire semester. Its pretty straight forward, most frustrating thing this semester was just the vagueness of the grading rubric for the surveys.. but if you message her she'll respond within a few days.
there's quizzes on lockdown browser for each chapter of the textbook and surveys you send to people. no final or midterm. the class itself is very easy.
Theres 8 tests that make up 80% of the grade and the other 20% comes from 5 survey analysis you have to conduct. STICK TO THE WORD COUNT. DONT GO OVER OR UNDER, you WILL get points taken off. Other than being a stickler for word count, the quizzes are easy as long as you read and she is lenient in grading the surveys as long as it hits word count.
This class was overall okay but the only issue I had was a research paper with a final exam due within the same week. The exam was proctored as well but overall the class was somewhat manageable. This class was taken in 2024: 1 Abstract & Research Paper plan, 5 Annotated Bibliographies, 1 Research Paper, & 1 Final Exam.
Honestly I dont get why she doesnt have a higher rating. We had 2 discussions that were 300 words each with 200 words responses one 2 page paper and 15 quizzes that were 15 questions each using respondus lockdown browser. The quizzes are easy if you read the material. She also responds to emails within 2 hours during the week, would reccommend
Very harsh grader when it comes to the composition of essays and papers.
There were a total of 3 papers and 3 discussion posts and about 15 quizzes for the entire semester. The quizzes were simple and straightforward. Required lockdown browser to take them. The papers were a little more tricky. No grading criteria was a bit vague and she was a harsh grader. Doesnt give feedback on papers unless you email her and ask.
Just grades to have it done doesn't give an explanation and the ta is annoying always saying everyone is using ai.
