This is Organic Chemistry and it is a difficult concept. Dr. Krishnan is a great professor with a lot of passion in the subject and really wants students to do well. He does have an accent but if you come to class and listen attentively you will understand the material. In office hours he will clarify anything you don't understand until you do.
Dr. Krishnan is a smart and genuinely nice professor who encourages his students to reach out to him for help. He holds more office hours than any professor I have had and has great- easy to follow lectures. This is not an easy subject, but the way he teaches gives me confidence in my chemistry knowledge. I am very glad I to be in his class.
Orgo is a very complicated subject and it's not realistic for any teacher to cover everything during lectures in a timely manner. Regardless, Dr. Krishnan's lectures are pretty clear and he holds 2-4 office hours per week from which I always leave feeling much more confident. He's one of the most encouraging and welcoming teachers I've ever had.
Great professor, but goes a little fast, especially considering how dense of a subject Orgo is.
Dr. Krishnan is amazing and actually wants his students to succeed. He realized his class was not doing well and took the time to annotate notes and the hardest chapters of the course. He hold SO MANY office hours and clears any misconception up. Also, when learning material he is sure to ask multiple times, do we understand.
Though Dr. Krishnan has an accent, I had no problem succeeding in this class. He genuinely wants his students to succeed and has even said that he will go over the material as many times as you need (in office hours) to help you understand. I would totally take him for Orgo 2 if I could. He also has pretty good metaphors for topics.
Dr. Krishnan is very dedicated to his students understanding the material. Every time I had doubt, he would be at his office ready to explain the material, no hesitation. His lectures were super helpful, and printing out his notes saved my life! His accent is not bad at all and he is very fair on exams. Orgo is hard, but take it with him, great guy
Prof Krishnan is probably one of the best chemistry professors I have experienced at FSU. Orgo I is given a bad rep, but he makes it extremely doable. Go into class, listen, go to recitation. Kind of an easy A. Tons of extra credit (quizzes, homework, etc.) and he has office hours all the time. Prior to exams, he has review sessions as well.
Had our final today & it was BRUTAL, so coming to defend him b4 the slander starts. This man is AMAZING, he only cares about the success of his students. Holds 2 separate 2-hour review sessions before every exam. TONS of extra credit. Orgo is HARD but he makes it as easy as possible! Said hell give extra points to students who showed improvement!
Worst professor I have ever had. Thats all
Professor Krishnan is a great professor and Im so glad I had him for Orgo 1! He genuinely wanted his students to succeed which is not always true especially for STEM professors. He gave many extra credit opportunities and rewards progress. I HIGHLY recommend taking his class, he made a tricky subject easy to understand.
Dr. Krishnan is an amazing professor. Its not often that you find a professor who truly cares about their students. He wants everyone to succeed and he would always reassure us that we will do well if we put in the effort. He gives a lot of extra credit too. Go to his office hours and review sessions because they are very helpful!
Best professor at FSU! It will not go unnoticed if you attend his office hours and review sessions, plus they are super helpful. With the transition to online it obviously wasnt easy for anyone but he would still try & I appreciate all his efforts. Take him! A lot of exc with hw & quizzes
Great prof, has great study materials for final. I found making a big reaction sheets for the final was really helpful. Extra credit quizzes are really helpful for your grade and do the HW even though it optional because it will help your grade and lower the impact of tests! Super caring and really wants his students to do well.
Dr. Krishnan is an amazing professor for orgo 1! Orgo 1 isn't an easy class but Dr. Krishnan gives in-depth notes on what you need to know and goes along with the textbook! He gives extra credit quizzes that count as points on the exams which helps A LOT. He has study office hours the week of exams where he does many examples of topics on the exam.
Loved him! He really cares about your success in his class. Offers a lot of extra credit. Get the book and actually read it! It will help you understand his lectures better especially with his accent. Very helpful overall I wish he could teach Orgo2!!
No matter which professor you have, READ THE TEXTBOOK! He gave great lectures and gave multiple ways to bring grades up if you don't do well on tests. quizzes, optional homework (do it!!!), etc. He does have a heavy accent, but he makes clear notes and it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. He also had lots of office hours and reviews before tests.
Worst Professor at FSU. Avoid.
Tests are impossible! Do not take this Professor! He does not curve any exams and the practice exams he offers are so easy compared to the real ones. Stay away!
Sumesh reminds me a lot of Saltiel, which if you know him, he is very tough and unforgiving. Tests are substantially more difficult than they should be for organic chemistry 1. If you want to pass avoid this professor at all costs!!!
I don't understand why he had such good reviews because he is not that good of a professor. His practice exams are a lot easier than the actual exams. The averages were Ds and Fs, and yet he still didn't curve. He does offer some extra credit and homework to boost your grade, but not enough.
Overall this class is awful! He gives practice exams/quizzes from 2020 that are WAY easier than what we are given (or unrelated to the material). Grade is 92% exams and 8% hw if you opt in to do hw. Otherwise 100% exams. No curves. Quizzes for EC but they can be hard. Exam avgs in 50-65 range. Stingy with partial credit. Exams are unreasonable.
DOES NOT CURVE even when his averages are Ds and Fs. Reminds me of saltiel
TERRIBLE! Do not recommend. His exam averages are really low and do not curve. Offer extra credit, but they are VERY difficult to earn.
His practice exams are a lot easier than the actual exams. He does NOT curve even when the average grades are Ds and Fs. This class is awful by itself and Krishnan does not make it any easier.
Eager to help. Minus E3 all tests reasonable. do ALL book problems, sometimes his tests have brook problems that weren't assigned as HW. holds good 2 hours review sessions a day before each test. not a hard A if you give this class the time it needs. do good on exam 1&2 + quizzes to help you when reactions beat you up lol
Very reasonable grading with tons of extra credit opportunities. Lectures are not the best, and it is hard for me to understand his accent. Test heavy, but the extra credit helps a million.
I highly recommend! He holds 2 hour long review sessions for each exam that help so much. Truly wants his students to succeed, he grades fairly, go to his office hours!!!! Taking him for orgo 2 as well!
Worst Professor I have ever had. If you want Saltiel 2.0, this is your man.
Don't listen to these reviews, they're all people who didn't grind the course. It's orgo, you need to put in work. I got an A on 3 of the exams with mid studying. His office hours are extremely useful. Tests were so light compared to other professors. Easy A if you just pay attention and class
Definitely the best of all ochem profs at FSU, but that's not saying much. Tons of EC, and provides lots of help, but he often contradicts himself/the book on his exams. English is his 2nd language so his questions are usually poorly worded/ambiguous/downright nonsensical. ACTIVELY study w practice probs! Make sure to get all EC and an A is doable.
This professor just sucks. He doesn't care about his students passing or do anything to help them. His "extra credit quizzes" are given soon after learning the material and are increasingly difficult making it hard to even obtain extra credit. He has the most difficult tests which he doesn't curve and he doesn't care about failing us.
He is the best orgo teacher at this school, he really cares about his students and will try to help you pass. If you have the ability I 100000% recommend taking him, orgo is hard in general he makes it much easier compared to other orgo professors.
He's a decent orgo professor compared to Hilinksi or Saltiel. He is very friendly and tries to help students as much as he can by giving many study resources and review session. However, his tests are VERY hard, and he doesn't curve them even with a low average. He does provide EC on tests, in-class, and in recitation but they're not easy to get.
DO THE HWWW! Professor Krishnan is very caring and he really wants you to do well, go to office hours and read the book test are very fair
Orgo is a tough class, and he is an alright professor. I would not take him again, but I kind of blame the FSU chemistry department if anything.
Dr. Krishnan is probably the best professor you could get for orgo. He does a great job of explaining the material and he provides sooo much extra credit for you to make up for mistakes on the exams. He always does 2 hour review sessions outside of class the day before the exam. Exams were pretty fair.
Dr. Krishnan is great. The extra credit is really helpful and I recommend doing the homework. The class ultimately was not bad. Even if you do not do well on the exams, you are able to suceed in this class. I would recommend taking Krishnan he is very caring.
He is perfect.
Overall Dr. Krishnan was a great orgo professor. He is very accessible outside of class and has office hours almost every day. He is very willing to help students. Orgo is a difficult class but if you are willing to put in the effort and seek help when you need it you will do well in this class
you are going to need supplemental info besides the textbook and his slides, they are the bare minimum. TAs are hit or miss, but recitation is extremely helpful. i barely went to lecture and got skoolers and used his slides and i was fine. he has an accent but the class could definitely be worse.
Arguably one of the better Orgo profs here (the chem dept isn't good here tho). You have 4 exams, a final, optional homework, and a good amount of extra credit given thru quizzes in recitation. He gives you resources but are very elementary compared to his exams. I recommend reading the book, doing all EC, doing all HW, & study lots for exams.
He relies on the textbook information very heavily when compared to other professors. If you show up to class and take notes on the textbook you should have no problem getting above a B.
Dr. Krishnan is AMAZING!! He is the best chemistry professor I have ever had. His slides are key to passing the extra credit quizzes and the exams. Practice exams are also very helpful to study. No need for schoolers go to his office hours! Listen to what he says in lecture and what he spends a large amount of time explaining prob will be on exam.
Krishnan tries the best of his ability to have us all succeed. He gives a
Rushed towards the end, that's the only reason I didn't give him a 5. He goes exactly by the textbook, like his slides include figures and stuff from the textbook and he goes through each lesson. So read the textbook, I recommend reading it before he covers that content in class, but reading it after is better than nothing.
I was pretty excited for this professor seeing how good his ratings are, but I did struggle in this class. Its only the insane amount of extra credit he offers that brought me from a C to an A-. Lectures for me weren't helpful, but regardless I continued to go to class. reading the ENTIRE textbook front to back is what helped the most.
Worst professor I've ever had. Had all A's and B's and failed this course. Took it again with Dr. T and received an A-, showing that I could learn the subject, just not with Dr. Krishnan. He does not care about his passing rate or students. Emailed him several times, he never replied. I did all the extra credit and STILL did not pass.AVOID IF U CAN
I LOVE KRISHNAN. He is so caring, especially if you go to his office hours. I would recommend really utilizing the textbook, esp the end of text questions and his PP bc he pulls random stuff from that. I also suggest skoolers. If you put in time and effort you should be successful. Take the extra credit quizzes seriously, they are a game changer.
I have nothing nice to say ab himHe is very hard to understand. impossible to learn in lecture. Recitation was the only thing I learned in. doesn't post on canvas until it's graded.NEVER RESPONDS TO EMAILS.Quizzes are extra credit and so is homework. 90+ hw probs, TA only grade 5 of them. Nothing on the homework is on the exams.AVOID THIS PROFESSOR
Explained the content in a very disorganized and frantic manner and then crammed back-to-back exams and quizzes in the last few weeks because he couldn't get through all of the material. Saw him argue with his TAs, who seemed upset with his style of leadership. Put irrelevant, hyperspecific questions on exams. Worst prof I've ever had.
he is the best chemistry teacher we have. He does not give it to you easily, but it is very doable if you are WILLING to do the work. The complaints are extremely stupid. Classes at this level are not handed to you anymore, put in the work and you will be fine.
While he does provide EC & study resources for his exams, they are incredibly difficult with F averages. Pretty much have to remember every little detail to get a good score. Puts information he never emphasizes in multiple choice. Also rushes his lectures since he's always behind.
Take Little or Hilinski if anything, although he does give EC quizzes and homework the exams are EXTREMELY hard with test averages within the D's and F's range. gives practice exams that are 10x easier than the actual exams and he does not curve. personally, I would take another professor if you care about your GPA
Awful, just awful. His exams will be super specific, with details he never emphasized so you better memorize every little detail. His averages are never passing and he doesn't necessarily care about that. Review sessions aren't necessarily helpful either. He is always behind from going super slow at the beginning, so he rushes the harder material.
Honestly one of the best teachers i've ever had. Go to office hours and show you care, it makes a lot of the difference make sure you do the homework! literally is the greatest chem teachers we have! First test could be a learning curve study hard!
This is not an easy class, however if you put in the time it is possible to succeed. Lectures are not helpful, very rushed and disorganized. Teaching yourself, practicing, and the extra credit he provides makes up for how difficult the tests are. I think he is the best option given that he is reasonable and kind person.
He's better than Hilinski or Saltiel, but that's not saying much. He crams content before exams cause he's always behind. First exam had a raw 43% average, so he curved to 60% but gave top scorers more points. Second exam was 70% average, but he said that he's not making his exams easy again. You're better off teaching yourself & getting skoolers.
ATTENTION. Don't listen to the good comments about this professor they are fake. A professors one job is to help students understand material. He does the exact opposite. You go to his lectures and he confuses you even more. His thick accent is VERY hard to understand. The majority of students get Ds and Fs on his exams and the HW doesn't help.
+: You can get 80s on all exams & get an A if you get most EC. Caring/helpful in OH. Follows book closely, you can do well w/o lecture, just read the book. Gives out additional EC when the class does poorly -: Always behind, sometimes mildly disorganized lecture. Fairly random MC questions. Would overall recommend, he makes an A very obtainable!
Krishnan definitely cares about how his students do in class, but gets frustrated when students do bad. Is usually behind schedule for lectures and crams info towards the end of the year, but if you do skoolers/ the EC quizzes you should be ok. Go to his reviews and study the things that he spends the most time on in class. Best you will get here.
He's entertaining which is nice but mainly just easy. He curves the class so heavily that if you actually try you should get around 120%. So many students do not do anything and just bomb the exams so he provides so much extra credit and bonus. Basically if you try you will get an A or B, if not, you weren't trying... it's just so easy.
It is impossible to fail, the amount of extra credit he gives is ridiculous. So funny, and explains everything very well when asked. You will not pass by reading his lectures since they are pulled directly from the textbook. Most exam questions are from the textbook and it is the only resource you need to pass. READ YOUR TEXTBOOK I AM NOT KIDDING!!
if you try you'll do well!! his exam questions are always are pulled straight out of the textbook and his powerpoints. if you do the homework you will be more than fine!!! he really rewards hardwork; if you put in effort there is no way you wont get an A/B. he also curves your grade if he sees improvement on your final exam grade.
The best orgo 1 professor at fsu. He really cares for his students and gives you ample opportunities to pass. There's so much extra credit & free points it's pretty much impossible to fail his class. The exams were very straightforward. Make sure to READ THE TEXTBOOK & do the practice problems. Orgo as a second language & skoolers definitely helped
Difficult class but a LOT of extra credit is offered, mainly through quizzes. Homework isn't mandatory but doing it lowers the weight of exam grades. I had an exam average of around a 70 going into the final and ended with an A-, so while the class isn't easy it's still possible to get the grade you want if you put in the work.
Krishnan is a very fair teacher. Orgo is not going to be an easy class regardless of the professor, but Krishnan gives ample opportunity to receive a quality grade. Lots of extra credit through quizzes in recitations, only 3 exams and a final. I got a 50 on one of the exams and still ended with an A, if you put in consistent effort you can succeed!
So much extra credit that w/ effort even if you aren't the best at Orgo you can at least come out with a high B. Don't buy Skoolers READ THE BOOK, he bases his problems heavily off them. Nice in office hour, nice about giving back points on exams. Meh lecturer but Orgo II is lots of memorizing. Don't need to go to class for a good grade
best orgo teacher ever. read the book. do the questions in the book. go to class, and recitation is extra credit. get above a 70% on all the exams and youll get an A because of the extra credit. hes not magically producing new questions to put on the exams. if you read the book and do the questions in it, youll do great.
Orgo is hard, many will drop, but stay persistent! He wants you to pass and gives so much extra credit to help out. Will also give partial credit back on exams if you attend office hours and ask. Uses analogies to best explain concepts, but as always, you should be studying outside of class. Exams can be hard, but fair. Posts practice exams too!
Orgo is a hard class and while Dr. Krishnan isn't the greatest lecturer, he gives so much extra credit with quizzes and recitation participation that as long as you are around the class average, a B is very attainable. Also seems to curve class at the end of the semester. Personally didn't read the textbook and just used it for the HW questions.
AMAZING! The best professor I have had at FSU. Such a kind hearted man and you can tell he really cares for his students. Super sweet and will help you. Offers extra credit. Just put in a lot of work and you will be fine!
Dr. Krishnan is my all-time favorite professor at FSU. He is so kind and helpful and truly wants his students to do well in his class. My best advice is to go to office hours and heavy on the textbook. A lot of quiz and test questions are in there!
I would genuinely recommend him for Orgo 1! Do the book reaction questions until you get bored of them as they were basically the test ones. When I had him, he held reviews before each test and I really felt like he cared. People say he isn't the best lecturer but as long as you take time to do the book questions you will for sure do well!
Taking again for OrgoII, less lenient with partial credit because he expects more but that's fair. Exams are difficult but not bad if you know his exams and study properly for it. Gives so much extra credit that you should be able to pass.
Averages are in the F range and he curves but not enough to get you a good grade. Quizzes are extra credit and you can earn up to 12 points on them, but the TAs grade them so hard it's difficult to even get above a 6. Studied for the last 2 exams for hours just to get in the F and D ranges when I put hours into studying.. i would not retake
Orgo is a hard class in general, but Dr. Krishnan makes it accessible by giving a lot of resources and tons of extra credit. He tells you 100% what to expect on the exam and is thorough. He is also very funny and engaging with his lectures. He wants you to do well and sets you up for success by giving you all the tools you need. highly recommend!
he was EXTREMELY rude to me every time i went to office hours. couldn't understand any of his lectures, you only do well if you memorize the entire text book and every practice problem in every chapter. studied for 40+ hours for exam 2 only to do horrible and went to him for help and all he said was "do you even try or care about my class." avoid.
Dont look at the reviews complaining about how bad the hw and exams are. The exams are fair and just like the model exams-which he provides. The hw is adequate practice for exams as well. His lectures are very helpful and he has a good way of putting things that are confusing. Hands down best orgo teacher. Read the textbook. So glad i picked him.
I ended the class with above an 100 in orgo 2. That being said try when doing the extra credit. He genuinely cares. One time he went to Dirac to check up on everyone before the exam and to see if he can help. Random acts of kindness like this make me think that he wants us to succeed, it is just going to be a hard class.
Took Krishnan for Orgo I and now Orgo II. Krishnan is a fair teacher who gives 4 quizzes for extra credit. The quizzes are harder in Orgo II, so study a little extra. Krishnan cares about his students, and even went to Dirac before our third exam to see how his students were doing. Lectures effectively summarize the textbook. Excellent professor!
not a fan of his tests or teaching style tbh
Krishnan genuinely cares and wants his students to succeed which is hard to find in STEM. He will go above and beyond to help u and offers COPIOUS amounts of extra credit. His exams were very fair in my opinion, if you read the textbook you will be more than prepared. I ended with a 104, it's very easy to do well.
He honestly goes above and beyond to ensure that his students succeed and genuinely cares about each of them individually. If you put effort into showing up to class and recitation it's an easy A. Also he posts multiple mock exams/quizzes and they are exactly like the real exams/quizzes. I thought this class was so so much easier than gen chem.
I took Dr. Krishnan for orgo 1 and orgo 2 and wouldn't rather anyone else. He genuinely cares about his students and helps you succeed. He gives lots of extra credit so as long as you put in the effort it's easy to get an A. He takes all of his lectures and exam questions from the textbook.
Dr. Krishnan is a super sweet and intelligent professor. He def knows the content in an out, but his teaching style can be difficult to follow. However, everything is pulled straight from the book and the exams are fair. Plus, his extra credit is insane. I got a 66 on the first two exams and still ended with an A. Just study and you'll do good.
by far the best professor for orgo. i am an awful test taker and had a very hard time with orgo 1 (i did not have krishnan), but i am ending orgo 2 with a 98. he genuinely wants u to do well and plenty of resources will help u if u pay attention to canvas.
Amazing professor. Extra credit quizzes boost your grade. Very direct and thorough. The textbook is your best friend—read it and do the practice problems. Lectures help, but aren't mandatory to succeed. Getting an A is so easy. He's caring and fair, but the class can be tricky. I bombed the third exam and still passed. Only good orgo professor.
Dr. Krishnan is amazing I ended Orgo1 & 2 with over 100% not joking. He's sassy but sweet and super likable. My favorite prof by far. Read the textbook, it's full of crucial practice problems. Go to office hours! He truly wants you to succeed and makes orgo manageable . also u can fail exams and get an A by doing well on hw and quizzes.
Krishnan was a great professor for orgo 1. He is really caring for all his students and genuinely wants everyone to pass. Offers lots of extra credit just for going to recitations. Would take him again.
The GOAT. Tbh impossible to fail since theres sm ec ~ 5 quizzes worth 12-18pts and recitation adding to 14 is just such a huge boost to the grade. HW is optional but reduces how much ur exams weigh. Lectures are kinda mid but he locks in for his review sessions always super clutch. Also curves exam if avg are too low! Got over 100, he's my king
Super nice; he explains well overall, especially if you go to his office hours!
BEST ORGO PROFESSOR EVER. I would sell my soul to take orgo 2 with him. Tests are hard, but partial credit is given and you have optional quizzes that count as extra credit and basically go towards your tests. Highly recommend him he's the best professor and human!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great course structure, you have plenty of chances for extra credit and he gives you practice exams and quizzes that are pretty similar to the style of the actual graded assignments. He definitely wants you to do well, and so do the TAs, they were very helpful and they know what their doing. Read the textbook and take notes and condense!!
Dr. Krishnan is my pookie bear. I was pissing my pants so hard when I first took orgo 1 but he genuinely makes the class super easy and offers a ton of opportunities to do well. HEAVILY rely on the textbook. he uses tons of questions from there on exams and quizzes. Never thought i'd like chemistry but finished with over 100% in both orgo 1 and 2.
I took Orgo1 with Dr. Krishnan in the spring semester. His lecture style is extremely fast-paced and his tests are HARD, but he hosts optional review sessions biweekly. He also does review sessions before the tests. His office hours are always able to accommodate students. The amount of extra credit that he offers will blow your mind. Thank u babu!
Lots of extra credit. Tests are fair but very achievable. I think the textbook for this class will be the most helpful resource -- I rarely attended lecture and pretty much only studied from the textbook and I ended with over 100% in the class. Krishnan is a great professor, very forgiving, and genuinely wants everyone to succeed.
A lottttt of extra credit. If you treat attendance as mandatory you're going to get so much (extra credit). I suggest reviewing the PWPs ahead of time, like a day in advance. DO GOOD ON THE QUIZES!! those are a lottt of extra points. AND GO TO OFFICE HOURS TO BARTER AND GET POINTS BACK
TAKE HIM! Class has so much extra credit. I was not locked in. Study reactions quickly as they are hard to memorize. My complaint was that when he gave the practice exams there would be wrong answers or it would be formatted incorrectly. Also he stayed on topics which were useless for too long then would rush other chapters (albeit it was summer).
Great Professor! if you are pre-healthcare, GPA is a huge factor. Dr. Krishnan gives a lot of extra credit which helps your score a lot. His material is great too. Do homework and make sure you get all the bonus points, the tests are not that bad either.
a passionate teacher who offers a lot of ec
Dr. Krishnan is very knowledgeable, but does not care about the success of his students. Ignored my emails, and sprung the make-up exam onto me when other students taking the make-up final (from incomplete last spring) months of notice. Took over 3 weeks to grade said exam, and now is too late for me to retake the class this semester.
Krishnan really knows his stuff and explains things clearly, over and over again. You'll need to ask questions though—he doesn't cover every detail in lecture or recitation. Tests are tough, but almost everything else is extra credit. If you study hard, an A is totally doable. Only downside: he doesn't answer Canvas emails.
I had Krishnan for Orgo 1 and 2. Finished with well above 100% for both classes. He's a super nice guy and wants his students to succeed. The exams are difficult, but if you use the textbook, go to office hours, and did well on the extra credit an A is definitely attainable. The bad reviews were probably because people were lazy and didn't study.
He never answers emails, sucks at teaching, but gives tons of extra credit so if you are able to study by yourself you'll be okay. Would not take him if you're planning on learning something for the mcat or such.
Pros: He curves the exams 10% and offers around 20% of extra credit in quizzes and homework. He's also funny. Cons: I wouldn't consider him a great teacher and honestly would rather skip his lectures and learn from 3rd-party resources. Homework felt excessive & exams were harder than lecture + hw (sometimes things we didn't learn deeply in class).
I was nervous for orgo after getting a B- in gen chem, but this class was very manageable. Going to class is not mandatory, but he does a great job explaining the material. Your TA in recitation is important cause they grade exams and quizzes, and some are easier graders than others. Hella extra credit, im sad he isn't teaching orgo 2 in the spring
Ample extra credit.
He's awesome
He was a super sweet professor and lectured at a speed that was easy to keep up with. Also tons of extra credit so utilize it!!
This is a great professor to have for Orgo 1. Even with the extra credit, you still need to put in effort to study the material because exams can be tricky. Dr. Krishnan clearly cares about his students, and that's hard to come by the further you get into STEM. I would absolutely recommend this professor.
I will NEVER take Dr. Krishnan hate. This man is the sweetest man ever and a great teacher. Although your grades are only exams there is so much extra credit. You can finish with a 130% in his class THIS MAN IS SO KIND. The test require a lot of studying but that is because it is orgo but he provides such good lectures and materials.
He curves the exams 10% and offers extra credit in quizzes and homework. I wouldn't consider him a great lecturer; he has an accent that makes him difficult to understand. The exams were often much harder than the material in class and the final was around 35% of the grade while only covering 2 weeks of material.
This guy is a legend. Orgo is not an easy topic, but he is hilarious and does his best to make it engaging and understandable. The extra credit is huge and I found the textbook to be extremely helpful, especially by reading it before lectures.
Orgo is very difficult and takes days to master topics. However, Dr. Krishnan gives ample extra credit and each quiz is just bonus points. Go to class because this semester he did a few pop quizzes for bonus points as well. Just be sure to use the textbook and utilize the self-tests in the back of the textbook. Also, go to office hours!!
One of the toughest classes I've ever taken in my life, I was fighting for my life in that classroom. Only survived because of the absolute incredible amount of extra credit he provides in the class. Exams were difficult and I think I only understood 30% of the class material by the time I finished the class. Very textbook heavy too, so good luck.
Textbook and PowerPoints are useless. Going to class is necessary. Gives extra credit and homework. Did not post his final exam grade for students, just the final grade on the last day possible. Does not curve, due to offering of extra credit.
Orgo is tough. Thankfully, Dr. Krishnan provides an insane amount of extra credit, and I passed with well over 100%, quizzes carry btw. You have the book to tell you what you need to know, so make sure to teach yourself as much as you can about the topics before coming into class. If you still struggle, go to office hours, Krishnan is great 1 on 1.
The tests are very heavily weighted but you get so much extra credit so it helps.GO TO OFFICE HOURS, you will get confused and he is amazing one on one in helping you (plus he'll give away some test info). Make sure to check your test when you get it back bc TA's will make lots of mistakes. He is the best option for orgo and is very personable.
Dr. Krishnan gives a ton of extra credit. I got a B on the first exam, an A on the second exam, and completely failed the third exam, yet still ended with an A. I never went to class; I self-taught using the organic chemistry tutor and the textbook. I'm worried about Orgo 2 because I don't think he captures the full scope of Orgo 1.
Offers so much extra credit. Not great lecturer, but good professor when asked questions one-on-one. Very funny and personable. Wants you to succeed. Exams are very fair. Getting A is very doable in his class.
He follows the text book so as long as you keep up with that and his lecture slides, an A is very doable especially with how much extra credit he gives.
I had Krishnan for Orgo 1 and 2, and I would take him again if I could. So much extra credit, I finished both with As. If you take advantage of the extra credit opportunities and use the textbook and lecture slides, it is extremely doable to pass and do well. His exams are tricky, but you get used to them.
