DEEAM! Funny guy and very interesting. Make sure you study! Not a blow off class, all test material is from his notes. He doesnt tell you anything in class that isnt on the test so pay attention!
Hilarious guy - take him if at all possible. Good teacher, very straight forward. Study his notes and you'll get a decent grade. No surprises. Highly recommended.
You’ll actually learn clinical aspects of endocrinology. Sumi’s a great guy but be sure to know EVERYTHING for the test.
I took Sumi for an Immunology class for Med Techs - he was grreat! We learned a lot and he told us EXCATLY what would be on the tests. Study the notes and you'll do well. You will learn a lot, too. He gives a lot of examples and is very funny!
Pretty easy, especially for a 400-level class. He makes it clear what to know for the exams and is a cool guy and also pretty funny sometimes. His notes were somewhat unclear at times, but he clarifies things if you don't understand something. Overall, this is a good class and is worth taking.
awesome prof! he's pretty easy because exams are STRAIGHT from notes. dont buy book. lot of clinical aspects taught. when he says things "on the side", take note of them - they are test questions. very highly recommended prof and endocrinology is really interesting - i got a good grade too :)
This was his first time teaching 111, but he made it relivent to life. Come to class! He was as helpfull as he could be without taking the test for you. Very funny.

If you want to pass. Take this class with him.
Great professor, but difficult course work. Study regulary and you will do well. Most is memorization of pathways and intrinsic details.
Excellent instructor. Cares about his students. Attend class, takes good notes, and study and you will do well.
Sumi is the man, I learned soo much in his class and managed to do decently well for a 400 level class. He tells you what you need to know and makes the info relevent to everyday life. Seriously, take this guy and ask him about New Orleans.
Dinda is great! His Bio 111 class is all lecture, but it's not boring. He adds enough to his material to make it interesting. He is very fair, and fixed several test errors for the class. No suprises on tests, and always willing to answer questions. He is very interested in his cancer research, and loves to talk about it. Awesome teacher! A+
He is one of the best professors I've ever had! Truly cares about his students. He tells you exactly what to know for the tests. There is a lot of information covered and you do need to study consistently to keep it all straight. Gives extra credit on his tests. Great prof - take him if you can!
Professor Dinda is awesome! The material is hard, but I've never felt more prepared by a professor for med-school than by him. Lots of case studies on tests that he pre-assigns so you know what to study. Extra Credit on every test, and Extra Credit for visiting the medical examiners office. Plenty of opportunity to do well if you work.
What a great prof for this class. Endo is a hard subject but he explains it well. You do have to study a lot but there is extra credit on each exam. There are also case studies to know but he tells you which case studies to know. I feel prepared for vet school after this class!
great teacher. he keeps things interesting and humorous, hands out powerpoints in class to study from and writes important notes in class on the overheads. everything that he writes notes on or tells you is important will be on the test. Lots of work but he is really fair and I loved the class. one of the best teachers i've ever had.
This professor is very hard, but very helpful. If you study hard--> you'll do great. The material is very interesting, and he is extremely knowledgable about the information.
Good teacher. Was blunt and was upfront with what was expected. If you studied and worked hard you figured it out. Gave extra credit on the tests.
The best teacher at Oakland! He is tough but if you still, you will do well. Make sure to know all the short answers that he tells you on the review sheet. I look forward to taking Pathology with him. I learned so much in 14 weeks and it'll really prepare me for PA school.
pros and cons about this prof:teaches very well, clear, interesting and wants students to do well, tells you what is on the short answer to some extent but there is so much to know.Cons:mc part is very very challenging a to g, short answer must be memorize word for word, again word for word, if you miss 1 thing its all wrong. dont bother for ur pts
Very funny prof, likes to be asked difficult questions, likes very detailed answers on the non-mc part of test. There are extra points portion on each test. His Endo class is one of the best bio classes u can ever take. He even uses case studies.
Sumi's class is tough, but you will learn a LOT. I had him for Endocrinology, which is a difficult subject. He lectures on what's both interesting and important, and tests exactly on what he lectured on. Would take another class of his in a second. books helpful but not in any way needed, as for our class he tested straight from the lectures.
LOVE DINDA! His class was hard, but he made you want to learn. Would take him every sem. if i could. But i wont really miss craming for his exams
He is a great professor! I really enjoyed his class. You really need to know everything in his presentations and his extra notes he writes down in class. It is a lot of information but his tests are fair. He doesn't try to trick you, if you know his notes you'll do great. and he gives lots of opputunities for extra credit. I learned a lot.
Following the instructions from the post below and I guaranteed that you'll pass is class. He's an amazing professor and wants you to do you best. Take advantage of field to the medical examiner's office. It's worth the experience and will juice up things in the course. Overall, a great professor and will take again.
Very tough, but fair. You will have to work hard if you want a good grade. There is no curve, no extra credit, and no mercy. He tests solely based on his powerpoints and a number of clinical pathology cards. The tests are very difficult, but Dinda is clear on what he wants you to know. Highly recommended, but only if part of a 12-credit semester...
No Joke, take his class. Useful for your future. He's the best
Hes a funny professor that is a great teacher! His slides are awesome and I would take him again! DONT BUY THE BOOK...just memorize his notes for the test and you will do great! Short answer part is hard because you need to know word for word from his notes but if you go to class he will let you know whats on it. TAKE HIM!!!
Professor Dinda is an amazing professor, but Pathology is an EXTREMELY challenging class. You must attend class to take his notes, DO NOT BUY THE BOOK, just study his notes. BUY THE FLASHCARDS. Study his short answer word for word. STUDY STUDY STUDY!
Dinda is the man. his grading scale is tough but the amount of extra credit gives you the grade you deserve. his class is extremely tough you must know almost every enzyme.. but he gives study guides and tells you exactly what you need to know.getting the flashcards is a must. got a 3.5 if i did better on 2nd test i coulda gotten 3.6+
Endocrinology: very interesting and Halarious. Makes things interesting. Learned a lot but test are SOOO hard!!! U have to apply what u learned, not just memorize ! Not a gpa booster!
You must know everything inside and out. This class was one of the most challenging courses I have taken. Not because of the material but because of the teacher and his impossible exams. You need the book to make sense of certain topics, and you need to go to class because the stuff he writes is 100% on the exams. You must study atleast 8hrs a week
Extremely challenging class, but he makes it very interesting. Exams are very hard. Don't buy the book, only study notes and powerpoints. Memorize any notes he writes down- those are the short answers on exams
Amazing teacher and class! memorize his notes and the supplementary cards and you will do fine. Do not buy the book! Best class and professor ever taken- highly recommend!
Best professor at OU. He challenges you to an extreme but by the end of the semester you know the material inside & out, upside down and backwards. Willing to explain material and extremely helpful at office hours. Biochem book is required, Patho is a good reference. Would take a million other classes with this prof. He is the best.
Extremely difficult course but Dinda is a great professor and he's hilarious. Memorize EVERYTHING from his power points and clinical flashcards (he posts which ones you need to know). At the end of this course, you'll have a great understanding of everything. Need to put many hours into studying!!
Prof.Dinda is my favorite professor at OU.Lectures are not mandatory but attend all because they are very interesting and he explains the material really well. Don't need the book but must learn the flashcards for exams and know his handwritten notes really well-he tells you what's on exam-pay attention!Do not take this class with any other prof!
You need to study for the class. Study the notes and the book also. lots of extra credit chances and follow what he tells you in the class. You will do fine.
I don't understand how everyone is giving him such great reviews! He treats this class as if we are in Medical School and most of class is not in that field! Yes, he is funny but his exams are not. He even told us that since exams are mostly multiple choice it will be tricky. No curves or extra credit. He took a really good subject and butchered it
Dinda is an extremely intelligent professor who knows his stuff and has a clear passion for pathology. That being said, his class is probably the most difficult I have ever taken. Be prepared to study. Know your flashcards inside and out. Attend class. There seem to be a lot of people who retake this class. Grade is based completely on exams.
Grades only based on exams, there are extra credit on exams, need to memorize ppt notes and written notes given in lecture. Is very helpful during his office hours
Professor Dinda is an excellent proffessor. Very clear on whats on his exams. Study every word on the flash cards, although some of the flash cards may be different then what he tells you in class. Record his lectures would be very helpful when you are reviewing. If your unclear about something use the book or google cause it will be on the exam
He is very knowledgeable about pathology and he has a clear passion toward it. his lecture are very interesting but the exams are killer you need to start studying at least four days ahead to get a B!! get know the material upside down bc the questions are study cases .. book not needed :)
He's a cool guy and he knows his stuff. His lectures have A LOTTTTT of information in them. Don't take this class if you have a hard semester. You'll need to invest some time into studying and you need to KNOW the material. You wont get by just on memorization. Dont buy the book, but you need the flash cards. This class is not easy, good luck..
Lectures are basically just reading off slides, overall not clear on what to expect from exams, offers extra credit on exams but they are often repeats of other questions.
Dinda is probably one of my most favorite professors I've ever had, This class is amazing, it teaches you valued information unlike the rest of the health science courses. The exams are the hardest i've ever taken in college, and look up USMLE practice tests if you want to succeed Bc they're med school based tests. no textbook study the flashcards.
think of everything you've learned over the years in anatomy and physiology, this class will apply each and every aspect of those classes. By far the most valued Health science class I've ever taken, unlike like the rest in which you learn no valued information other than common sense. the exams are med school based/USMLE based.
He's clearly incredibly knowledgeable about biochemistry and his applications of pathology to the material really help with understanding it. Short answers on the exams are rote memorization and easy points - he flips if people do badly on it. Really tough in terms of what he expects you to know, but he's a really interesting and engaging professor
This class is very difficult- definitely the hardest I've taken in college so far and he makes you work for it, but as a professor Dinda is incredibly engaging and knowledgeable. I loved his lectures and I loved this class. If you're willing to put the time and effort in, Dinda makes it interesting and worthwhile.
First of all this course is exteremely difficult. You have to work HARD. The professor is very funny and helpful. He has 4 exams and offers a lot of extra credit. I wish this course had SI (supplemental instructor). Be prepared to study a lot. Also, attendance is not mandatory but I highly recommended because he writes important notes on the boad
The exams are nothing like his study guides. Overall a poor lecturer and unclear. Case studies are often repeated on exam. Offers extra credit. Only exams go toward grades
I've had Dr. Dinda for Endocrinology and Medical Biochemistry. He is by far my favorite professor I've ever had. The classes are very difficult, but if you put in the appropriate effort, you'll do well. He's clear about what he wants you to know, and doesn't test on things he didn't teach. Really funny and cares about his students. Don't be lazy.
Professor Dinda was easily the best professor I have ever had at Oakland University. HS 401 is by no means an easy class and no matter who teaches it, it will be difficult. Dinda writes out the short-answers he will ask on the exam so it's important to attend lectures. He's hilarious and extremely intelligent. Offers extra credit. Great guy.
one word - horrible.
Terrible teacher.
This guy is hilarious. His teaching style is inspirational. You will remember how he explained the material during lecture. Know everything on the slides, cause it's all fair game. Gives short answers ahead of time. Tough exams, but he can get away with it cause he KNOWS how to teach. Studying in groups is the only way to survive. Do the work!
Take a light course load with this class. Focus on PowerPoint slides, know them inside and out. If you do that, you will be okay. I studied the slides and just looked over the cards he assigns and I got close to a 100% every time
Prof. Dinda is wonderful and really cares about what he teaches. This class was probably one of the hardest classes ive ever taken. You really have to put in ALL your effort into. Go to class he tells what you need to know and tells what the short answers will be. Its not easy at all STUDY . 4 exams multiple choice with extra credit & short answer.
This is the hardest class I've ever taken. I study around 4 hours a day and I'm still barely passing, and I'm a 3.5 student. The professor seems to know his stuff, but I think things could be presented in a way that's more clear. I don't like marking down for an accent, but I have a hard time understanding him, so I try to follow along in the book.
Hilarious professor, but his exams are almost impossible. You really have to put in a lot of work and study time if you truly want to pass. Go to class since he tells you all the short answer questions. Make sure you memorize the flashcards inside and out. Don't take the class with any other hard classes either, that's a huge mistake I did.
Medical school level difficulty, which is unfair since not everyone is going to med school. Wish there was more option for choosing professor for this course.
He is so knowledgeable and really loves what he does. Incredibly hard class but it's not him it's the material. He always gives examples and shows pictures. Only exams are graded so make sure you study. Also memorize all of the case studies! He also tells what slides will be the short answers. Extremely funny guy. Study and you will pass.
Dinda is easily my favorite professor at OU! Patho is not an easy class by any means, but if you study, attend lectures, and engage in his class.. youll do fine!! Hes extremely funny and engaging, makes it a pleasure to go to class! Study his study guides, PowerPoints & the note cards!!!
Very tough material which is very abstract. During class you can ask questions and he will take a step back and explain everything. Gives short answers ahead of time. Also memorize the book questions. Run through study guide and memorize things inside out. 2nd exam was crazy rough. dude is hilarious and makes material presentable. do the work!
Pathology isn't an easy class, but Dinda makes it really accessible and presentable. You gotta do the work. Participate, and stay on top of things. Gives short answers ahead of time. Hands down one of the best professors I've ever had. Gave tremendous guidance to me in my pursuit of medicine. You will definitely learn lots. A true gem! Take him!!!
Medical Biochemistry was honestly the hardest class I have ever taken at Oakland. However, Dr. Dinda was a great professor and made sure that you knew what to expect on the exams and that you understood the material. Second exam was DEATH. Memorize the back of the book questions for exams.
If u are planning on going to prof school, take him! His classes will show u how prepared u are and the HS electives dont prepare u! He gives MC extra credit at the end of each exam, tells u in class what the SA will be, and gives you a study guide of what to know. Memorize the few questions at the back of chapters and the flash cards GIMMES!
Medical biochem is tough. Outline his study guides, memorize the case studies & the few back of book chapter problems and youll do fine. His SAs are gimmes if you study. To be prepared youll need a background in physio. Show up to class and UNDERSTAND the material, his exams are all application based so youll need to do more than just memorize
one word Legend.
Dinda's lectures were great, very informative. Exams were pure hell. Gives you the short answer in lecture so memorize them, along w/ back of book q's. 1st exam took me 2.5 hours to complete. Lots of extra credit given on exams, typically from older book editions. Make sure you buy both the book & flash cards, both will be needed 2 succeed
Medical Biochemistry was one of the hardest classes i took at OU. The exams are VERY HARD. This class requires a lot of studying time outside of class. You will need the textbook and flashcards to pass. Lets you know the short answers in advance, memorize them! Dr Dinda is a great professor would definitely recommend taking this class with him.
Dr. Dinda is great! His exams are EXTREMELY tough, but definitely prepare you for any professional course you plan to take. Patho is a lot "easier" than Medical Biochem. I definitely enjoyed Patho a lot & feel like I'm already a doctor! Flash cards used in this class are study tools for the STEP tests in Med school which is nice!
If youre planning on going to grad school, take patho! Its tough, but definitely doable. I outlined his chapters, then wrote out short answers, and made a bacteria-disease list. Tons of case studies but it helps, because youve seen it before the exam! To 4.0, I needed a week of study prep before exams. Its not easier than Medical Biochem.
Worst professor I have ever had
Too much materials to learn and the professor make the subject much harder. swimming across an ocean is much easier than passing this course.
Words his way around questions, talks down to students. If youre looking to continue school after undergrad, good luck. youll have to relearn info since you wont remember anything after this class. Your grade is based on memorization over learning. Pass it and get out.
I dont understand why people say med biochem is the hardest class, try organic chemistry. He uses the questions at the end of the chapters questions and flashcard questions WORD FOR WORD on exams that alone will get you a minimum of a C on exams. Also gives 5-10 ec questions. Buy book & flashcards and youll be fine!
One of the best OU has to offer. Tough class but he lays out what you need to know. Yes there are some ambiguous questions on his tests but there is so much Extra credit youll be fine. This class will prepare many students for graduate school. Hes funny and is willing to answer questions. Also extremely knowledgeable and relates to the real world
Notice all his good review are from people in pathos going into Medschool. Not everyone wants to go med school/get graded like one. Idk about the past but he is one of the WORST profs. Tough grader with no grading criteria, he also gives the toughest exams all based off old textbooks which is why he says itsnot required. wording leaves you confused
This professor is the worst professor I have ever taken in during my undergrad or graduate programs. He is unapproachable and refuses to see flaws in his own teaching. He is knowledgeable but lazy when it comes to making his exams. He reuses his questions semester to semester so theres no need to purchase the book.
Hes the head of the department so its hard to reach him outside of class. The class was combined (undergrad and grad students). It sucked for us undergrad students. The only grades were 3 exams + 1 final. The exams have extra credit on them but thats not much help. His lectures are interesting but he doesnt post them online so, skipfail
Dr. Dinda keeps class very interesting and includes lots of stories and additional lecture photos which helps you to remember the material. There's a lot of material to remember, but if you take the time to memorize it you can do well. Grade book is only tests and includes some extra credit from exams. He is very funny and I would take him again!
Dr. Dinda is a kind professor. He straight up tells you what is on the exams. As long as you go to lectures, make note of what will be tested on, and study, you will get an easy A in this class.
Professor Dinda is awesome! His class material is very difficult but he has a strong passion for teaching and it shows. It's definitely a LOT of content but he gives the answers to the short answer questions during lecture, so don't skip class.
An incredible professor and the Dean of Health Sciences. Teaches tough courses like MEDICAL Biochemistry, Pathology and Endocrinology, but his real world examples make the material click. His exams mirror professional school to prepare you. Put in effor and memroize the extra credit he mentions it will save you and you'll have the A.
I love Dinda. He is a great professor. Exams well prepare you for real life and his exams have EC which help a lot. He is straight forward about what is on the exam and what flashcards you need. You can tell he genuinely wants you to succeed. I love him! (and hes actually so funny which makes class more bearable)
The best professor i've ever had at Oakland Univeristy. This is a hard class with a lot of information but he makes lectures fun, understandable and engaging. The test consists of mc, written, and an extra credit portion to boost your grade. He tells you exactly what the written portion will be on and the flashcards are identical to questions on mc
Such an interesting and useful class taught by a hilarious and knowledgeable professor! Exams are long and difficult, memorize the SAQs and the EC is such a good cushion. Put in the time and you will do well!
Although the professor knew what he was doing, this course was extremely difficult. There are 4 exams and those are the only grades available. You have to memorize A LOT of clinical case studies in order to do well on the exams. Although he just goes over the notes he posted online, he tells you what short answers will be in person!
