I honestly liked her. Her lectures are okay, but she would sometimes drag on about small details. Tests (5) are all multiple choice & the quizzes (9) are online & pretty hard. Go to her office hrs & she'll help you! Also, GO TO SLAC! I had the best SI leader ever. Just make sure you try in this class because it's not an easy A. I'm a Bio major!
She's a really good teacher and she knows what she's talking about. The only downfall is her accent. She is sometimes hard to understand. You have to go to class and participate in the lectures to do well. The tests are based off the lectures. Use her office hours and the SI's study session. This is in no way an easy class.
Out of all the other science teachers she is so far the easiest one- BUT You have to teach yourself because she has a heavy accent. & she will overload you on homework & on weekends she will constantly harass you with reminders & emails & will randomly make up extra homeworkquizzes. If you go to her office hours for help, she will criticize you.
If you are up for a challenge I'd recommend you take this class. Accent is a tad difficult to understand. Heads up, don't miss class or you will suffer. Participate in her study groups, GO TO LECTURE, GO TO SI SESSIONS.
I loved Dr dharmasiri. She can be sarcastic but she has the easiest out of the other bio teachers if you actually study. She has quizzes, prelecture assignments, popquizzes for extra credit. She'll replace your final with another test if it's higher. I personally thought she teaches really well and enjoyed her class. I wish I could take her again.
From a student who made 100+ on all exams: it is possible to earn an A if u WORK for it. Read beforeafter class, take THOROUGH notes (essential!), understand concepts, study w classmates, go to SI & office hrs. Don't underestimate this course. Dr. D is a fantastic prof who can REALLY help u if u take the initiative and put in time & effort.
This is not the easiest biology class and her accent is pretty difficult to understand but if you study and pay attention in class you should be fine. Go to her lectures, but be respectful because she calls out kids that don't pay attention and get upset when people leave early.
I HIGHLY suggest you not take her if you are not good with accents. Sometimes very hard to understand. She does not really clarify much , also, she does not go in order of book to help you understand better, she just jumps around which is confusing . Very nice woman , wouldnt recommend if you are not a fast paced learner.
This class is possible to pass if you spend the time to read the notes, chapters, and watch the videos posted on TRACS.
She has a thick accent so it is very hard to understand, makes you feel dumb if you didn't understand what she was explaining in the lectures and her tests are extremely hard so you have to study 24/7.
Going into this class I was very worried about her teaching style. I heard the class was very hard but honestly it's not. If you go to class and study the powerpoint notes that she gives out you should pass. There are weekly quizzes and lots of in class pop quizzes. Her accent is strong but she is honestly pretty funny/entertaining. I liked her!
I absolutely hated this class. Not only is the professor tough to understand and hear, but the tests are super hard and lots of homework! I would not recommend this professor to ANYONE. I had to drop the class, along with half of the class because I was failing so bad. Worst professor I've ever had. If possible, take someone else!!
Accent isn't that bad, lots of pop quizzes.I passed this class w/o the book, took lots of effort and YT videos. I wouldn't recommend taking this course w/other tough courses (math).Overall its all about the concepts, not definitions. Teacher can be discouraging and sometimes lies about intensity of her exams. Her lectures aren't in depth. buy book!
It's not that she is a hard teacher it's that the class is really hard. She tries to make it as easy as possible (lots of material to cover tho). Interesting class but it is pretty hard. I would suggest going to all the classes not mandatory but super helpful. Must study hard if you aren't willing to I wouldn't take it.
I LOVED HER. she was the only teacher to print out ALL her slide shows. pay attention in class and take notes on her handouts you will do great. her tests are very straight forward. she doesn't try to trick you. she gives you everything you need, explains clearly, and answers questions. shes kinda funny too. I would take her over any of the others
At first I was getting C's on the tests because I didn't know how to study. But, after I studied/memorized the notes from her slideshows I started getting A's! She tests you based off of the material on her slides. KNOW IT. She gives pop quizzes but you can talk to everyone around you while taking them. The best of all bio profs!!
Take this if you're a NON-SCIENCE major. She only teaches necessary material. Her accent makes it a little bit hard to understand sometimes, but she makes a point to answer any questions and address and confusing topics. Tests are a little tough because they are long, but they're multiple choice. Attendance counts for extra credit so go!
If you want to essentially teach yourself biology take this class, if you want to actually be taught biology find another professor bc she is absolutely awful. By far the most frustrating class i have ever taken bc her notes & lectures dont prepare you for the tests which are broader than the material she teaches in class. As i said self taught
She was incredibly disrespectful and was not above scoffing at anybody who asked a question that was valid but appeared obvious to her despite the fact that she had a Ph.D and we were only undergrad students. She would always say that the material was "common sense" which discredited people who were actually trying and struggling.
I personally love Biology and didn't struggle at all. Attendance is taken by quizzes on TopHat so it's easy to skip. If you're good at sciences you'll have no problem in this class, but if you're not it'll be difficult due to her accent and the fact she's somewhat rude.
I took AP Bio in HS and didn't do so well so I had to retake the class. Prof Dharmasiri was very helpful. She has an accent so at times it's hard to understand her. She gives you print outs of the notes that she teaches in class. 3 xcredit quizzes. Downside is you have to pay for TopHat and Connect but she has a discount for TopHat.
Extremely hard course covering difficult material but she is a good professor. She is VERY accessible outside of class & always willing to help! Accent is hard to understand, but you get use to it. Lots of HW & Quizzes but most are on quizlet & can be helpful when studying. Study (memorize) powerpoint slides & "Did I learn it" questions for exams.
She hands out the lecture slides at the beginning of each class, but leaves parts of the slides blank so you have to pay attention. The first half of the semester is boring then becomes interesting. Lab corresponds to lecture. 4 lecture exams and weekly online quizzes. Tests were 60+ questions and sometimes very specific, but not meant to trick you
She's honestly a great professor. Homework and quizzes are online (DO NOT MISS THEM). She has a bit of an accent but I had no problem understanding her. You will definitely have to pay attention. Lastly, she has pop quizzes and extra credit opportunities in class so don't ever miss.
She prints out the powerpoint before class. Memorizing the powerpoint will get you a 70. GO TO SI SESSIONS. Understand it. A little rude but willing to help you. The accent was doable.
Professor Dharmasiri is the best professor I've ever had. Her Functional Bio class was the easiest class I had last semester. She teaches the course and explains everything very clearly and prints out lecture notes for you to study. If you study her lecture notes, you will pass her tests. I would take her class over and over again if I could.
She was a great professor, as someone who isn't good at Biology, the class was harder for me, but she prints out the power point so you can follow along (take extra notes too). GO TO SI SESSIONS! I didn't and got a C but they would have been super helpful. Gives online quizzes and sometimes pop quizzes in class, so show up!
Can be hard to understand. She will try to cram information before exam. No reviews from her. Pop quizzes are easy you can look them up or discuss them with classmates. Test/quiz questions aren't directly from her lecture notes. According to her they are common sense you should have gathered from the notes. Use SI sessions/ study groups
honestly she is not a bad professor. in a bio class you should expect to have to do a lot of studying on your own so that includes her functional bio class. just go to SI sessions and read over the textbook some and you should do fine. very doable class although material is a little hard at times. just apply yourself
She is very helpful and smart. Great prof
she is nice and very smart but she does not make a difficult class any easier. study A LOT and do NOT cram, it won't work. do the homework quizzes, and study her ppt . take notes! and youll do fine
She is really into her class and knows the material very well. Do not talk and disturb class or she will call you out. Also don't leave early she doesn't appreciate that. Your grade will be the effort you put in, want to get an A? try hard, her exams are concepts not facts. Memorizing won't help understand how the concept works.
Functional biology is not an easy course but Dr. Suni prepares you pretty well. The wording of her tests throws many people off but the SI sessions helped SO much. There is homework every night before lecture, and a quiz almost once a week. Don't skip and try to pay attention during the lecture, it was a very challenging class but it is manageable
Bio is hard already, and Dr. Sune doesn't really help it. She knows her stuff really well, so she kind of expects everyone else to know it too. However, if you ask her for help she will go above and beyond to help you, she actually cares about her students, but does not baby them. Her accent is kind of heavy. If i could go back i wouldn't take her.
Dr. Suni is an awesome professor! This class is not easy, however she will always be willing to help if you go to her office hours. The best way to be successful in this class is to keep up with the notes and study a little each day. Do the reviews she provides with each section of notes and you should be fine.
Dr. Suni is a lecture heavy instructor, so if you aren't prepared to go above and beyond to retain the curriculum, you're setting yourself up for failure. She is someone who wants her students to succeed, so don't be afraid to visit her office hours! Pay attention, go to SI sessions, and study. Hard work pays off as long as you're willing.
Dr. Suni is nice and helpful. Funct. bio is just one of those really in depth classes. GO TO SI SESSIONS. If I did, I am sure I would've gotten an A or B in this class. She does get carried away during lectures. Her pre-lecture quizzes are due right before each class. Her quizzes are due at 11:00 instead of 11:59 so don't get caught up like I did.
Dr. Suni was honestly one of the sweetest teachers I have taken so far. She really cares about her students, may sometimes seem unapproachable but is SO SWEET!! She is very knowledgable and passionate about biology. The material is somewhat challenging but is SO manageable if you are a good student. She sets up study groups! Highly recommend!
Dr. Suni is an amazing professor. Her lectures are informative and helpful. This class is difficult, but she makes it manageable. She gives notes for you to fill out before every lecture and the success of her students is in her best interest. The tests can be hard, but if you study the notes she gives you, then you'll do fine.
This class is difficult and requires students to not only learn the information, but apply it. The professor is very willing to help those who want to succeed. She pushes you to become the best version of yourself. She is very encouraging and inspirational, because she believes in her students. I attended office hours, and it definitely helped!
Dr. Suni is amazing/very helpful! Lecture notes are fill in the blank and include ALL exam material. She has pre-lecture quizzes that are helpful to understanding lectures. GO TO CLASS/OFFICE HOURS! I made an A in the class, and I only went to lectures/studied notes. This is an in-depth class, and she does require you to apply what you learn.
I honestly thought this class was going to be hard, but it wasnt. REREAD THE LECTURE NOTES. MAKE QUIZLETS. The only thing she does is give fill in the blank notes that she goes over in class... the rest is up to you. Be prepared because she sometimes gives pop quizzes... some for extra credit. GO TO STUDY SESSIONS AS WELL THOSE REALLY HELP!
She is a super sweet person and her accent isn't bad. She gave tons of extra credit which helped to push my grade up to a B. She is very helpful during office hours and is always willing to answer questions in class. Her notes are printed power points that she gives out before lecture and you need to fill in the blanks. Overall not that difficult.
I took her class and after doing terrible on the first exam i went to her office hours and she helped me understand the material more and helped me study. She really cares that her students do well and sets up study groups and always makers herself available to you. She has been one of the best profs i've had and GO TO OFFICE HOURS
Super sweet, gives extra credit!
She is a great professor! I made an A in the class by simply studying, going to SI, and using the packets she gives in class as exam study guides. She gives packets out in class and they are extremely helpful for studying. The exams have the same concepts as her packets and she always offers her office hours as an extra from of help. 10/10
she is super sweet and understanding, she does is give fill in the blank notes that she goes over in class at a pretty fast pace, Be prepared because she sometimes gives pop quizzes... some for extra credit and she started writing her own homework questions to ensure no cheating but most stuff can be found on quizlet.
Biology is not the easiest class BUT if you're willing to put in the work you can make whatever grade you desire. Dr. Suni does have an accent but it didn't really bother me. GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS!! Suni will even round up grades for people who do the homework, come to class, and ask questions. I was in her office hours ALL the time. Good luck!
Super sweet & genuinely cares about her students. Easy to contact with questions outside of class. Provides us with notes and even sets up review sessions for exams outside of class. There are pre-lecture quizzes for every class, but they're super easy. A lot of extra credit opportunities. Super funny, but gets stressed if the class is loud.
I really enjoyed her class. The handouts she gives at the beginning of class make the class much easier to sit through, and studying for exams a breeze. The hw online is slightly more difficult than the exams. All of her exams had an extra 6 points tacked on, so you could miss some and still get a 100. Overall, pretty easy class. Great professor.
There is quite alot of homework to do (pre lecture quizzes, normal quizzes, etc) but prefer it as you have more good grades to add up to increase your grade. The tests can be challenging. Pay attention in class (to fill in blanks), go to SI sessions, and do all assigned quizzes, and extra credit.
This was a very easy class. Her powerpoints laid out everything you needed to know for tests, and quizzes were over relevant material. The lab complemented the class, and Dr. Suni herself is a very nice woman. She does do in class questions, but those are only worth 50 out of 800 total class points, so no worries if you miss some.
I took the Honors section of BIO 1330 with Dharmasiri, and she was a great teacher. She wants everyone to succeed, so if you put in the work she is more than willing to help you. Really nice woman who know the subject well.
Well.. not the best per se. Make sure you know your stuff because if you ask questions during her office hours, she makes hurtful and condescending comments towards you. Im not sure if that happened with other students, but if not then I guess she didnt like me for some reason. GO TO STUDY SESSIONS IF YOU WANT TO PASS!!!!
Although many people struggle with BIO1330, Dr. Dharmasiri was always willing to help any student who asked. I would highly encourage going to her office hours. Everything you need to know is in her slides. There is a lot of memorization, but she doesn't throw you curveballs that aren't included in lecture.
She is probably the best bio teacher in the department. She has taught this class 40+ and knows exactly what she is doing. This professor gave me back my confidence in bio. If youre not great with science, she has tons of LA sessions and office hours. If it comes naturally to you, this is the easiest A youll ever make.
Prepare to be treated like an idiot every time you talk, never have any adequate lectures, and receive worksheets you were never taught that not even google can figure out. If she asks you for criticism don't bother because she'll tell you you're wrong. It doesn't matter if you listen in class or not, the lecture doesnt match her assignments.
shes a super sweet professor who really cares about her students, while if bio is not your thing if you dont pay attention and dont try at all you will not pass!!! but if you put in minimal effort or if bio comes easily to you this will be a super easy A.
Dr. Suni is a super great and easy professor. Bio can be hard for some but she presents the material in a good way. A lot of out of class work, but that just helped me understand the material better. She really wants you to do well and is more than willing to help if you go to office hours.
When I tell you to take her IM TELLING YOU TO TAKE HER!!! She is so good at explaining and also gives lots of extra credit!
online she's a pretty good professor but it is a challenging class. There's no homework so there's only quizzes and exams, however, she does let us use our notes! IF you want to pass this class, you'll really have to understand everything
Dr Suni was such a great functional bio prof! Very easy to talk to after class or during office hours, and gave tons of extra credit (over half a letter grades worth) Her class is tough but as long as you put the work in you should come out fine grade-wise. Go to LA sessions, they help a ton. I would take her again!
Dr. Dharmasiri was amazing and so on top of her class. She provided lots of resources at the beginning of the week, so I would take Sunday or Monday to take notes pre-emptively. I went to every lecture and made sure to ask questions if there was a section or concept that I couldn't understand. Her office hours were great and under-utilized by most.
I am currently in this Professors class. Since everything is online, she has decided to prevent cheating as much as possible. By doing this she made the test extremely hard, and with just enough time to read the question. I mean, I got A's in both A&P's and I am barley passing this freshman biology class. If there's another option take it.
This is one of the most precious and smart women I've ever been taught under. She has made me consider switching my major to biology and I'm an economics major. She seems to understand everything about the world way beyond biology, or maybe her understanding of biology opens up the rest of the world for her. She's genuine, sharp, respectable.
Dr Suni offers lots of resources and makes the grading criteria/ her expectations clear from the start. Definitely a heavy course load though.. had to drop a class to save my GPA lol. But be prepared to never get out of class on time and have multiple assignments due every week. The LAs will save you though! Take full advantage of study sessions.
She is such a good professor. She truly cares about her students and how they are doing in the class. She does give slight curves but you have to work for them. I recommend reading before lecture it will help a lot. Biology can be challenging at times but she gives plenty of opportunities to succeed. Stay on track and you'll be okay.
Im not a biology & it shows, but she is a great professor. This class was extremely difficult for me, but she is really caring & all she wants is for you to succeed. Im just glad its over lol. I dont know anything about biology & I passed this class, so I recommend taking her if you need the credit.
Test based class. Other professors for this course give curves except for her and she does give extra credit but not enough to actually bring up your grade.
Do not take this professor!! She does not care about her students or your grades. She is disrespectful and rude.
Dr. Suni is not a great professor. If you're taking her, just be prepared to likely not get an A. When asking questions about biology material, she can sometimes be rude and not willing to go over it. You can know the material, but still fail the test. She does give you extra credit, but that's probably the only thing that's good about this class.
Ms. Dharmasiri is honestly a really nice professor, this has been my hardest course since I came to Texas State, but I really enjoyed it in the end. Once you learn something, its your responsibility to work hard to understand it so you can do well on tests. As long as you study, pay attention, and work hard you will do well in the class! :-)
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ARE NOT A STEM MAJOR!! That being said she was one of the best professors Ive ever had, but you gotta work for the grade you want.
Focuses more on the big picture of biology and gives real life examples so can be difficult to understand. test scores will most likely be the grade you have in the class. would recommend taking kumar considering he gives curves and extra credit. he gave his classes 5 points to their overall grade and so if i had him i wouldve ended with an A
*TIP*: to view any Texas State professor's syllabus, go to the TXST HB2504 website. Lowest exam grade out of 4 midterm exams is dropped. Exams mostly cover content in her slideshow, so understand the slides well and use the textbook as supplement. Try to pay attention in class and attend LA help sessions. Focus big picture instead of small details
So, to start I want to acknowledge I did not put in nearly as much work as other students and if you don't either, it will show. Attendance wasn't mandatory however the in-class TopHat questions were a huge part of the grade which I didn't realize as I never showed up. Mastering Biology sucked, and I missed a lot of assignments in the beginning.
She was like that tool in online textbooks that read the text out loud, put no thought into lesson plans other than making a power point and reading it verbatim and getting angry and yelling at the class when we didn't test well, thanks to her teaching.
Didn't understand her lectures
By far the worst professor I have ever had. Terrible teaching style, she expects you to understand the material learned the same class day from her confusing and hard to understand lectures because she will "pop quiz" you every class. Class average for 3/5 tests so far have each been 60 or below. That should say something. 0/10 wouldn't recommend.
Lets start off by saying you need to pick her if you can. I took this course two times and took it with her this last recent time and actually started to love biology. Although it is all about the work you put in, she also makes it her duty to make sure you understand the material! You will need to look out for a lot of extra credit also !!
Go to class! Dr. Suni takes attendance through Tophat and it counts as a grade. She also has Tophat questions throughout class for credit. She had an asynchronous option when I took her but you must be in class when she shares handouts and writes things on the board. Her PowerPoints and textbook are very important. Skip class, you will not pass!
Dr. Suni is my favorite teacher this semester, she responds so fast when you email her and she can always meet you outside of class, I have never met such a caring teacher, hated the pop quizzes but the tests aren't tricky at all if you go to lectures and try to understand her powerpoints, then you'll do great! Dont skip the extra credit modules.
Dr.Suni is an amazing professor! You must participate in class if you want to achieve an A in the course. Make sure to be organized when it comes to upcoming tests, and prep quizzes. She is very understanding and wants nothing but the best for her students. 10/10 professor.
Dr. Suni is a wonderful professor. If you put in the effort, she will always help you out and you will do well. PLEASE go to her office hours and review whenever you can, that was the best decision I could've made. I have never been a science person, but Dr Suni helped me see that there's no such thing. If you put in the work, she will reciprocate.
Dharmasiri can be a good professor if u use all the resources provided. However, I never passed a single exam & I studied & attended her help sessions. Attendance is mandatory (& extra credit from tophat questions) so attend her lectures!! and try not to miss class (boosted my grade up 3-4pts from going to class) Do with that info as you please.
Dr. Suni is an amazing professor, and BIO 1330 is an extremely difficult class. Read the chapters beforehand and GO TO CLASS. She gives more in-class questions and activities than you can get credit for. To study for exams, use the review questions for each chapter and make sure you can explain each concept aloud to yourself or someone else.
Although the exams may seem difficult she is passionate about what she teaches. I will say she expects a lot of biology knowledge from non biology majors, so study well and use the powerpoints and notes.Take use of the extra credit and group project to your advantage, they will boost your grade. Try not to slack and review powerpoint before lecture
Super supportive and care. Great professor.
She clearly cares ab her students and constantly offers extra credit/help, so it's ironic that she's so difficult with the homework. Will post it on Canvas at 11am Wednesday and it's due on Thursday at 8am, also the homework is reading the textbook and answering 60-90 McGraw Hill questions. The material is easy if you take notes on the powerpoint.
Honestly, I could have made do without attending the class, but TopHat is mandatory (and the vain of my existence, I could've gotten an A if it wasn't because of it.) She kind of has an attitude and is very passive-aggressive; I didn't feel I could approach her. She did sometimes do reviews during the weekend, which was nice of her.
She's really nice but can get annoyed if you are disrupting the class. Homework is due before class, and you can answer questions until you get a 100. Her accent may be a bit difficult to understand but she explains things well if you approach her or go to office hours. Try to go to office hours to review your exam with her because it helps alot.
Dr. Suni seemed very nice at first, but is very passive aggressive. She gets off topic during class to have converstations that take up most of class time. She is very hard to understand and obviously can't handle large classes. I had to miss a group activity because my dad was ill and when I emailed her, she thought I was lying just to skip it.
Shes super clear and uses a lot of visual learning.
Dr. Suni is an absolutely incredible professor. She knows her stuff, and she knows how to teach it. That being said, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU WANT AN EASY GRADE! While she is an amazing teacher, this class is DIFFICULT. There are other Bio 1330 professors that will be easier to take. Overall, I learned a lot from her and would recommend.
Dr. Suni was an absolutely incredible professor. She took over our course 6 weeks in because of our previous professor quitting and has been absolutely amazing. She is knowledgable, patient, and overall a pleasure to learn from. Show up to her office hours, put in the work and you'll pass. Ninja Nerd on youtube is a great resource for this class.
Dr.Suni is a great professor! She is very knowledgeable, and is passionate about what she teaches. She is super patient and kind! You do have to keep up with the power points and quizzes. Show up to her office hours because this class can get difficult and she is always willing to help out her students! 10/10 professor!
Shes a very nice lady, gives a lot of extra credit opportunity. Focuses on student success and will help you if you reach out. She's not a hard prof., just lectures a hard class. Recommended for visual learners because she uses a lot of daily life comparisons and props for her classes
Dr. Suni was the best prof I have had in Biology and if you have the chance to take her class, DO IT. She offers so much extra credit and is very knowledgeable in any question you ask. By far the best prof at TXST!
She really knows how to teach a very hard course! Biology is a knowingly challenging course and Dr. Suni gives all the steps to allow her students to succeed. She is very helpful and gives plenty of extra credit opportunities. There are 4 exams and she gives reviews that are very helpful for them.
Do not take this class. Your entire grade is based on the 5 exams you take throughout the semester, with 50+ questions every two weeks. Awful study guides were about 85 questions long and only counted for 2 extra credit points. I compared my class study guides, slideshows, and tests to my roommate's material and honestly, it was just unfair.
Professor Dharmasiri, was an overall good professor. The course was challenging, but she taught it decently. She would assign homework codons a couple times a week and the course was very lecture heavy. She sometimes would forget to mention extra credit opportunities, but I felt the extra credit did not help my grade. It was a decent experience.
love dr suni! this class is hard but just apply yourself and ask questions and go to her office hours and you'll be good. she drops the lowest exam grade, and offers hella extra credit that will be added to your grade at the end of the semester. overall i def recommend her!
Dr. Suni is a great! She gives lots of examples, analogies, and visualizations in class of concepts which was very helpful to me as I tend to have a harder time in science courses. I did not go to office hours, but I really wish I would have. She is very personable and likes to know students by name. There are Top Hat quizzes at least once a week.
Shes nice and knows what she's talking bout. She has an accent which is kinda hard to understand sometimes but it's fine. She is funny and during lectures she does hand drawn examples sometimes which help and gives breaks sometimes. She does tophats at the end of class and gives lots of extra credit which is extremely helpful it helped me get a B.
Dr.Suni is one of the best professors ever. She offers so much extra credit and you can tell she loves her job. If you don't do well in her class, it's your own doing. She goes out of her way to assist her students in every way possible. I highly recommend you take her!
My love for bio came to life because of her! She is an amazing professor, and her lectures may be long and heavy, but they help a bunch. She also gives out a lot of handouts that are not for a grade, but I recommend doing them as they will be essential to getting good grades on exams. One of my favorite professors since I've been at TXST.
Dr Suni is an excellent teacher, and she is very clear on exam material. My best tip is to make flashcards and draw out concepts for each exam. The reviews for each exam are helpful and tests are easy if you know the material- only 3 answer choices for each question. Do extra credit! She gives 20 points of ex credit so your grade will get boosted.
Prof. Dharmasiri is a knowledgeable and passionate instructor. While the class is challenging, she provides ample support through office hours, extra credit, and visual aids. Utilize resources like Ninja Nerd and unstuck study to stay on top of the material. With consistent effort, this class can be very rewarding.
Dr. Suni's lectures are content heavy, same as all bio prof's. If you have questions, go to her office hours, don't ask in class or she may go off on a tangent. She can be hard to understand sometimes if you're not used to hearing Sri Lankan accents. Top Hat is mandatory and part of your grade, exams reflect the lectures content wise.
Dr. Suni is a great professor! But...sometimes she cares too much, loses her temper justifiably and spends 20 mins lecturing you abt bad decisions like a mom instead of a professor. Go to every class as there's not only tophat, but in person quizzes. Exams are nearly same to reviews. She gives lots of extra credit pts, brought my grade up 3.9 pts!
Such an accommodating teacher. She gives many extra credit opportunities and really makes it easy to understand, plus she's funny. way easier than the other biology professors here. TAKE HER
Such an attentive professor who actually cares about her student's success. She's funny and makes sure you know the concepts, she's great at lecturing and if you show up to class and pay attention you will do great. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities as well. TAKE HER she is one of the best biology professors on campus.
amazing prof overall. offers a lot of extra credit which will tremendously boost you grade at the end (11 points was added to my average). you have to take notes and pay attention to lectures to succeed and all tests are on paper with a study guide that's 80+ questions long (also for extra credit). the grade you get is what you put into the class
She was a good prof! If you remember to do the homework you'll get an A. Theres tons of extra credit and review sheets for exams (one dropped). I didnt find functional bio to be a particularly hard subject but if you struggle with science you'll have a different experience than me.
So good professor and she absolutely makes you book worm and ask you to do all the reviews in the name of extra credit. She definitely increase the interest in reading. Very good .....take it
Dr. Suni is a good professor, but sometimes a little scattered. She is big on visuals and videos to represent what she's teaching, which helped me a lot. Show up to class because I don't think I would have passed if I skipped. Overall, I liked the class. The LAs are very helpful.
Experienced on intercellular components of the domains of living organisms. Respectful and kind to all students and is an inspiration to women in science. She has fun class activities that lighten the mood of her classes epically when the material becomes more challenging. Wish she had more classes for upper division level Bio classes!
Very sweet Professor! Attend class because her test questions are not on the PowerPoints. The slides are more of a guide and you should be able to apply that knowledge on exams.
She's really sweet, and she cares a lot about her students. She gives extra credit and is very helpful during her office hours. I would recommend taking her class.
Clear, engaging lectures. Always accessible outside of class and has office hours ALL the time. Very communicative and sends emails/reminders often. The class is lecture-heavy, you MUST go if you want to pass. A bit hw heavy, so be weary of that. Probably got like 30 extra credit points in her class. She's fantastic, would definitely recommend.
Her class will be extremely easy if you just show up to lectures and read the assigned readings. Most of the assigned readings are less than 3 chapters long. Plus She gives a lot of extra credit.
She was a good professor and really cares about your grade. I will say some things were hard to understand, so be prepared to teach yourself, re read slides, and watch Youtube Videos. She does provide slides, study guides, and there are homework assignments due before each class. She also offers a lot of extra credit that took me from a B to a A.
The exams are easy if you study, and she gives plenty of extra credit to take advantage of. She does give homework but it takes at most 15 minutes.
Dr. Suni is an excellent professor, I took her class in the fall and although you do have to put a lot of work in, it is not unrecognized. She tries her best for her students to success and has a lot of extra credit points. If you want to do well, i'd recommend to read the textbook as it helps you understand but I didn't do it as much and was okay.
