i had a good time in the class and learned a lot, took her for another class als
class wasn't too hard, a lot of quizzes, expects you to know details of stories
The lady lost one of my papers so my grade went from an 'A' to a 'C'!!!
I learned a lot about world culture in her class. I will never be the same(in a good way) because of her excellent teaching skills

DO YOUR WORK AND YOU WILL DONE FINE
i didnt learn much in this class. it wasnt challenging enough for me. The papers were about really dumb uninteresting topics too. the only good part was when we watch the joy luck club i always loved that movie.
I had her for CWI & Int Lit. Her classes are VERY easy if you do your work. Lots of pointless group work though
She sucks tremendously.
WORST TEACHER EVER. How did she get a job!?!
very good teacher, hard to understand a little but not too hard of tests
The most disorganized teacher ive ever had. Misses class a lot, and doesnt teach much just makes you read and then wants to have "class discussion" and then ****es if you dont feel like talking. We read good books though and she is an easy A.
Show up, participate in class, and do good on the stupid 5 point quizes. Only 2 tests, and both are take home.
Nice lady. sometimes hard to understand cause she's from India, but an easy class. the takehome tests are very nice too!
She is a very easy teacher if u read what ur supposed to. she rarely assigns anything over a few pages.
She's a good teacher. Likes to have the class participate or she gets angry. Quizzes are fairly easy, and only 2 take home exams.
She is a little overboard with the quizzes, but if you read the assigned readings, they are extremely easy. I definitely recommend taking her. Easy A.
easy class. Not the greatest teacher but class is easy. Show up and take the quizes that can be manipulating. Overall easy 3 credits
She makes no sense an easy A as long as you can drag yourself outta bed to go to this horrible class.
Dr. Peacock is a very good teacher I really enjoyed her class and she is very helpful to her students.
Alright class, she thinks that everything should have a meaning though and I don't quite understadn it but I guess that's why she teaches it and I don't, she is a good prof though and class is pretty easy, just be prepared to do lots of class participation, it's worth 20 percent of your grade

sucks
When you get the syllabus, toss it out, she will not follow it. A bit scatterbrained at time, but I like her as a person. If you want to learn, study a lot on your own because her class is pointless. She also has no control over the class.
easy grader. i didnt like her at first, but once i got used to her style, it was WAY easy. i would definitely take her for another eng. class anyday..i WISH i had her for cwII
Doesn't give you a grade till the end of the year. Have to write four papers. Kinda confusing with directions. Doesn't give a lot of homework. She does try her best tho. She's not a bad teacher.
Easy professor but is so unorganized it is ridiculous. Does not follow syllabus and rarely actually teaches, but instead lectures while talking very quickly. And it's kind of hard to understand her. Is unclear about assignments but the assignments are easy ones. Take her only if you have to because you won't learn anything in the class.
dr peacok is real halpful, and she tries her best with her students. Gettin an A in her class isnt very difficult just do ur assignments and write ur essays.
hardest teacher to understand, she doesn't know what she is talking about, cant tell students a straight answer about any question asked. She yells about nothing and gets angry in class and takes it out on students
When signing up for this class as a liberal arts i thought it was eastern literature. I learned eastern feminism, she gets angry when we dont know our assignment, though she doesnt follow the syllabus or tell us in advance. I regret taking a feminism class without prior knowledge. If taking this class buy a bookbag large enough haul the workload
Not bad. If you do the papers and assignments you will be fine. Make sure you keep everything you do for the final portfolio also.
Peacock can be dumb at times. A class you can pass with an A or B. Participate and you should be fine. She is Indian and hard to understand and many of her lessons are scatterbrained and unproductive. She will tell you that you are wrong with every comment you make, when in fact she is the idiot most of the time. Stick it out though, it's not bad.
can't understand what she says
If you don't want to do a lot of work, avoid her class. Especially if you don't want to guess which homework you have to do. She has a hard time remembering what she assigned and when it's due so she just makes everything up as she goes along.
She's not bad. She tends to make you write about the same thing and it kind of annoying. But overall she's decent. Just keep all assignments and papers for a final portfolio
World lit. graduate level: if we are serious about learning in her class and show our eager, then we can get a good grade.
Dr Peock is hard to understand sometimes. Her gradng style is really weird. Didin't really like it. You don't get a striaght grade on your papers. And has favorites. Bt besides to bad not to bad. Wouldn' recomend her as a first choice though.
Easy read worka and particapate and you will do well
People who say she's hard to understand are full of it--her English is perfect. SRU students just like to complain about anybody with an accent. She's a nice enough woman, but easily frustrated and very scatterbrained. The syllabus ends up being worthless halfway through the semester. Getting an A is pretty easy. You won't learn a lot, though.
VERY fuzzy thinker / communicator. Classes are group diddle sessions. Not too hard a grader, but grades seem unconnected to work performed. Forget about the syllabus, she ignores it.
the usual feminist claptrap. If you read these evaluations, the word that keeps popping up is 'scatterbrain.' There's a reason for that. She's not a bad person, or especially hard to understand, but is horribly disorganized and flighty.
pretty nice lady, all business yet had a desire to teach...
She seems to have only a vague memory of the reading assignments and often gets details wrong, and then interprets the incorrect details. Gruelling, uncomfortable class. She's a nice lady, but I would suggest trying someone else.
A nice woman, but not a great professor. She knows her stuff if you talk to her one-on-one, but she often appears scatterbrained during lectures. HATES being corrected, even if she is wrong and has insulted someone (like when she called geisha prostitutes and offended a girl whose grandmother was a geisha). Lots of work, but it's all easy.
She is unorganized, unprofessional, and unfair. If you have to take this professor, make sure you keep your own record of grades and attendance. If you can help it, don't take her.
this lady is terrible. was late every class. interpretations that she thought made know sense. had accent. she marks things on your test wrong but doesnt tell you why. couldnt ever get a hold of after class. DONT TAKE HER
Absolutely horrible, avoid her. The class itself is easy, but she's mutter as assignment, and only 3 people will do it, and the rest get zeros. The entire class is putting down Caucasians, and if you disagree with her, she'll take points off and call you stupid. Should not be teaching, no skill at it.
awful awful class as well as professor. Hate to be corrected and if someone attempts she says they're stupid and thats the end of the discussion. avoid her at all costs.
Really bad teacher. Assignments and class organization are murky. She seems to not know what she's doing or remember what she said. Very insecure - HATES to be corrected or challenged. Ignores her own syllabus. Her grading lacks logic and consistency.
Shes a terrible teacher. Has an accent so its hard to understand her. Shes not helpful at all. If you interpret something as you perceive it she'll tell you that your wrong. Avoid her at all cost
You only have four papers a semster but she is very picky. No grades, she either gives you no credit or credit and if you get one no credit in the semester you get a C automatically unless you rewrite. Very opinonated and had debates in class, if she doesnt like you answer she will ler you know
kinda hard to understand, but half way through the course it clicked weird grading system, quite some work but she isnt terrible
Is not very helpful and tries to repeat the same question a different way. Class discussions go in circles and she gives no direction. Not a very good teacher
do not take this professor...i dont even think she could be a wal-mart greater because no one would be able to understnd and couldnt even scan their items...its a joke...she picks favorites and grades easier for them...wouldnt even accept an extra absence if your grandma died...avoid at all costs!!
She is an awful teacher. Everything is based on favorites. She will mark your tests wrong when you know exactly what you are talking about. One time i took a test on 4 poems, and i only read 3 of them. I had no idea what the 4th one was about. she took off points for the 3 that i read and gave me a perfect on the one I had no idea wat it was about
I have Dr. Peacock for my college writing class, and she's the worst teacher ever. she will not give you credit on a paper if your paper isn't nearly perfect. For one paper I had to re-write it 3 times! If you can I highly recomend not taking her
One of the 2 or 3 worse profs at SRU. Totally disorganized, hazy and/or unfair grading policy, incomprehensible lectures (I'm not talking about her speech, I'm talking about her thinking.) Ignores her own syllabus, often late for her class. AVOID at all cost.
Class discussions are rough, her questions are very unclear. Write 4 papers in the semester but easy grader. Essays are based on the readings and only have to be about 2 pages. Grading policy sucks and is incredibly unfair! If you don't participate you wont get an A
This woman needs cut some slack. Sometimes she's a little unclear on assignment, but she really is a decent professor. I'd take her again.
Dont expect to know your grade until the end of the semester because she doesnt post any. And then she just pulls random grades out of no where. Can you say favorites? Ridiculous.
Doesn't even follow her own syllabus. Most disorganized prof ever - repeatedly came late to her own class. Should not be employed at a university unless as a janitor (and I'm not sure she could handle that.)
She may not follow everything to the T however, I have become an amazing writer because of her class. She is a little hard to understand sometimes but keep asking questions and you will get all of the information you need out of her!
Not so much a bad person but a very bad teacher in my opinion. Does not email students at all when she is not attending class which gets frustrating when it's your first and you walk all over campus to get there. The work is easy but she is very unorganized and hard to follow. Idk if she really downgrades you on attendance or not. Avoid if you can
I passed every single paper, and still only received a C..you're only allowed to miss 2 or 3 classes then you drop a letter grade. it was an interesting class, but didn't help me as a writer at all.
Unless you enjoy writing papers about the Indian culture, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Since she is Indian I felt she was biased and just wanted to teach us about other cultures through our writing. I could never express myself as a writer because obviously I had no personal connection with these topics. Look for a different professor when scheduling!
Does not follow the syllabus, focuses more on the content of cultures than writing. She did not treat it like a college writing class. She made it seem like interpreting literature.
The worst professor I have ever had. she doesnt follow the syllabus, told us we didnt have a final, but made us come to class. very hard grader. Never understood the assignments. I would never recommend her.
This was the easiest class ever. It was just discussions every class and she was very nice about when to turn in assignments. She stops following the syllabus to take the pressure off of deadlines n due dates. All we had to do was write a total of 4 essays, read once in a while, and write a paragraph to turn in like every two weeks..not hard at all
Class is fun but boring sometimes. I guess she's a bit opinionated, but isn't everyone? I don't know why everyone else on here claims she doesn't follow the syllabus. . . she does. Do your work on time and stay organized and you will be just fine.
Strange professor but kind; really does make an effort to teach but just doesn't reach the goal. The class does seem pointless but i feel it is because she tries to cover too many countries in one semester. The class overall is pretty easy, just read and do the group work and you should do fine.
In a very small class, she is very helpful in making sure you understand the material. She's very knowledgable about the content
Very confusing and hard to follow. She's very scatter brained and doesn't remember all the assignments she gives you because there's so many half the time. Only helpful in direct questions and one on one emails.
Stories are supposed to have a meaning, but I guess she finds new ones to the same stories every semester. G'luck!
Unclear about directions. Has you work/read in groups and asks you to summarize what you have read. When you do that, she gets mad that you only summarized the passage and didn't analyze it. Also, when you do analyze it, you're often wrong. She isn't a mean/bad professor, just very unclear about work. She can be really funny, though.
I took Intro to lit with her and can honestly say it was one of my favorite classes. The books we read were interesting and class discussions were always engaging. She poses thought provoking questions but makes them easy to understand. You won't get an A if you don't participate but its really not that hard.
Dr. Peacock is a really nice lady and a great professor. The people that give her bad ratings are the lazy ones that don't wanna do work. Yes she gives a lot of homework but its usually easy and this is college what do you expect? I would recommend her. Go to class and participate, you'll be fine.
Very unclear about assignments. Wants you to incorporate too much into one essay. We were assigned to finish an entire novel in one week and had the rough draft due in two days. Very opinionated, if you don't agree with her you are wrong. Class is structured very poorly, only out of 100 points and the 5 page essays are only worth 12 points each.
She means well, but she gives unclear directions and is very opinionated. She also changes deadlines to sooner rather than later at the last minute. I can handle a lot of work, if I have a schedule to work with. The day after the election she told us her views, and I don't think that is professional, even if I voted for the same person.
Dr Peacock is a very intelligent professor. I had her for Intro to Literature and Culture & it was a difficult class. She expects you to participate every class or she gets frustrated. You have to do the reading. Spark notes is not good enough to write the papers. You HAVE to know what is being talked about. Pop quizes. Tough grader. expect to work
She makes you write 5 page papers literally every other week. There are only 105 points total in the class; so there's little to no room for error. This class is all about theories which are extremely difficult to understand. I've always gotten A's in English classes until now. She does not stick to the syllabus and she's totally unorganized.
Dr. Peacock is a smart, intelligent professor, however, there is no student to teacher relationship and she is not very caring. I feel like she is very biased and has very liberal viewpoints. She gave me a D on a great paper because it went against what she believed in. It isn't a hard class, but I don't recommend.
She is a very educated professor, but I don't know anyone that got above an A on any papers we wrote for her. Her viewpoint is strong, and if you disagree you are wrong.
Effort must be put in everyday 5 papers, only 1 week to write them. must read, spark notes isnt good enough participation is important. course only 100 points not much wiggle room. get ready to read, every class you will have new chapters to read. pop quizzes are assessed to examine your readings. all theory based, can be somewhat hard 2 understand
Peacock is an intelligent and professional professor, but she lacks caring and understanding. Her feedback is not always clear, did not use a lot of teaching strategies, and often came off as rude, critical, and out-of-touch. She means well but needs to dedicate more care to her students. Class could be a little boring and was mostly reading books.
This class has lots assignments for little points that add up quickly. She has a lot of group work, almost every class. She's truly one of the toughest graders ever. If you two do not agree on a point of view, good luck passing honestly. She can be rude about it too, she tries to give good feedback but sometimes it doesn't work.
In critical writing we were expectant to learn about how to write a college level paper. Instead she basically spoke every single day about how Americans are stupid and even about how the military is useless. She has a very communistic way of thinking and if you disagree with her she will call you out in front of everyone and you will fail.
I was expecting to learn how to write in college writing and oo was I wrong. All you do is discuss politics and if you disagree with her, she will rip you apart. The only way to get a good grade on the 3 papers you write is to write about what she believes in, which can be difficult. Not a hard class but you will leave frustrated everyday.
If you want to get a good grade in Dr. Peacock's class, you have to write papers solely based off of her opinion on things. Her class is just a big debate and having us state our opinions about topics we read only for her to completely rip us up in front of the whole class because out opinion differs from hers. Avoid at all costs.
Dr. Peacock gives the most unclear directions, doesnt really have any idea whats going on, has a poor understanding of her own subject matter, and nickel and dimes your grade until theres not much left. I consider myself an above average student in English, and even doing the reading doesnt mean much if you dont agree with her POV.
This woman is absolutely terrible. If you answer one a question for her she will follow up your answer with Why or That doesnt make sense. Usually only agrees with you when its more biased of her own opinion. Save yourself the time & anxiety and avoid her at all costs.
She is by far the WORST professor Ive had. She may even be the worst professor at Slippery Rock. Avoid taking her if you can. She gives random pop quizzes, calls you out in front of the class, as well as interjects rudely while youre talking/answering a question. She fails to email back, so dont even try. She should not be a professor.
Dr. Peacock may be the worst professor I have ever had. Her syllabus is absurd, it makes no sense at all. She has a quiz every class. To get participation points you have to raise your hand. There is only a total of 50 points in her class so don't mess up on quizzes. And her answers are the only right ones, and if you're wrong shell freak out.
Worst professor you can ever have. I am not the type to complain and I believe you can succeed in any class with hard work. Not this one. This class is impossible to get an a in, in fact I don't think anyone did. Have fun if you have her and good luck!
I had Dr. Peacock for Critical Writing. We spent more time reading than writing. Every reading was followed by a summary. She provided no writing tips or techniques. She provided no rubric for the essays. Her instructions are very unclear. Her syllabus makes zero sense. She is not understanding. She does not provide room for any error.
She is truly one of the worst professors at Slippery Rock. Really nice lady, but absolutely awful teacher. Barely has any points in the class. Most of her answers to things are what her opinion is of something & you usually have to argue with her to prove a point and she's rude about it. Would not take her class again. Best of luck to all of you.
Dr. Peacock is rude and does not care about her students. She expects us to know everything she knows without providing lectures, notes, etc. Her grading is ridiculous and she makes it impossible to get an A. Avoid this professor at all costs.
Needed to force her to read assignments in order to be graded properly. She gives vague information as to why points were taken off, even though you can clearly argue the points are in the assignment if you've done it correctly. At times she takes days to reply to emails and creates unfair quizzes on readings assigned. Less than 100 points in total
Dr. Peacock is disorganized, unprepared, confusing, and unwilling to work with students. She gave us one week to do a group project on top of two other papers, we had to go to the head of the department to get her to drop one of the papers after trying to tell her that it was too much work. Then she did not even show to her own final. AVOID HER!
Dr. Peacock is one of the most difficult professors I have ever worked with. She is incredibly unorganized, disrespectful, and confusing. There is no standard of grading, she cannot justify deduction of points when asked about it. She speaks to students in an incredibly rude tone. I have never disliked a professor of mine until now.
She is the worst professor at SRU for sure. Her class is nearly impossible to get an A in no matter how much work you dedicate. She bases her class off of her own political opinion and does not care to listen to students at all. She is horrible do not take her!
The worst professor at SRU. Her syllabus makes no sense and when she grades your papers she doesn't help you, she makes you look like an idiot. She makes you write about topics that only she believes in and when you try to question her she is just straight up disrespectful( she will embarrass you in front of the whole class). AVOID HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot stand this lady. She does not care about her students, teaches you false information and makes you write about things that are based off of her personal opinion. Huge libtard
This woman is miserable. One would expect a Critical Reading class to allow for interpretation but not with her. If you disagree with her, she attempts to humiliate you. Her own political beliefs are made very clear and she targets those who do not align with them. She is beyond disrespectful. No matter what, she is right and you are wrong.
The class itself is very easy to get a good grade in, you will just learn nothing the entire time. Her feedback on papers is very poor. She will tell you to fix something a certain way then say she doesn't like how its done. If you are looking to take this class try to take a different professor, but if this is your only option then just take it.
The syllabus is inaccurate- she constantly forgets what she assigns, and references it despite it being this. She has no clear grading system and fishes for answers during discussion until she hears what she wants. Lectures are barely helpful or interesting as topics are all historical & repetitive. Wouldn't recommend her unless course is required.
Always make your first paper good but not your best work. If you make your first paper your best work, she will expect better every time. the book Is free online somewhere. You should go to classes cause she will hand out random assignments whenever she feels like it. The lectures and essays aren't hard just don't bring up politics in there!!!!
Get prepared to write essay quality DB posts, on top of readings that take hours (and 4-5 page essays every unit). She took off points because I needed to respond to another student's post. Even though I already had. Unorganized. Actual teaching consists of a few recorded PowerPoint lectures in which she reads from slides. Would not recommend.
She is the toughest and most disrespectful professor I have ever had, she barley answers emails and is not very approachable. The course is also very unorganized (e.g. posts rubrics for papers at the last minute) and heavily based on group discussions in which she searches for right answer until she gets it, her feedback on papers is poor.
Awful all around, clearly does not care about her students. Goes out of her way to humiliate students and make scenes. Grades everything extremely harshly and never gives any explanation. Never answers emails in a timely manner. Always say to refer to syllabus but does not follow it. Gave me a hard time for missing class for doctors appointments.
She grades unfairly. Gave me a 10% on a test even though all my response were correct, and without reason.
Get ready to read the two Norton Anthologies you have to buy for this class. Every project has very few points, so if you miss two points on your multi-page, cited and outside researched analysis paper, you get a B-. She does not want to hear your interpretations or analysis, she wants you to regurgitate what she hints at.
Not terrible I went to office hours once and it helped me understand what she expects from students. Deff a tough grader not going lie. Her answer or you're wrong. But overall torturable if only option just stick it through.
This professor has humiliated me multiple times in front of the class, and is rude to students. Not only is the class difficult due to the fact that there are so little points, but feedback on wrong answers rarely make sense. Peacock often interrupts students when they are answering her questions, only to get mad and tell them that they are wrong.
This was one of the most stressful classes I have ever taken. If you do have her, just go to her office hours and ask for help because she will like you if you show that you care. She was an extremely hard grader on everything and it was almost impossible to get an A on any of the work. I would just do anything you can to take someone else.
awful.
she is so bad, do not take her for this class. you will be tired of her after class 1. she has no care for her students. so much reading and you do not talk about the readings before a small quiz. you have so many small quizzes and they are like 3 points so if you miss one its a 66%
If you enjoy reading and analyzing text this class should be no problem. It is hard when it comes to grading and your answer needs to be hers. She is nice if you put in the effort togo to her office. class is mainly all group discussion and group presenting. There are pop quizzes on every reading and around 4 presentations you have to do.
DO NOT TAKE HER! She grades hard and is so bad at responding to emails when asking for help. She always interrupts when she asks YOU questions about the readings. Just do not waste your time and do not take her. I am failing the class because of the pop quizzes. If you get one question wrong its already a 60. Do not waste your time.
Terrible! I could not stand being in that class and I HATED going to the class. She begs people to participate, but then claims everything they say is wrong. Makes every simple assignment super complex and if it is not done to her liking, she will make you redo it and embarrass you in front of the entire class. DO NOT TAKE HER!
Absolutely the WORST prof at SRU. Disorganized, disrespectful, and uncaring. Doesn't respond to e-mails, doesn't follow her own syllabus. Just read a sampling of these reviews and ask yourself 'Why would I sign up for her course?" My question: how is she still employed?
Do not take Dr. Peacock. I gained nothing from this class in the slightest. Quizzes after every reading that she would take points off of and not explain why.
Does not answer emails. Is very difficult to reach tough grader and does not explain why she wants something incorrect.
Genuinely cannot understand why there's so much hate towards Dr. Peacock. She is a kind person who does care for her students. Go to class, participate and you'll be fine. She is a tough grader, but it's only because she expects college level analysis from college students. How dare a professor expect more than the bare minimum, right??
Tough grader, but manageable if you put in the work. Attendance is mandatory, and the textbook is used heavily. Unstuck study can be a lifesaver for test prep, along with office hours. Just be ready for her blunt teaching style.
Her instructions are often unclear and I thought her grading was inconsistent. You are graded on participation and there are group projects. Attendance is mandatory and there is a lot of reading. Overall, if you pretend you care you should be okay.
I don't really get why people had such a tough time with her. As long as you did the (short) reading, you were the exception to the class, and she just wanted to see if people got the correct meaning of the book. Not a great professor, but homework was rare, and quizzes were easy. Very light class load
If you show up to class, answer questions, and do your work, you won't have any issues. If you are a student who struggles to participate, this is NOT the class for you. It's not a heavy workload and mostly everything is done in groups. I had no issues, but many students found her to be degrading for sure and it's not a good place for shy students.
I would rather spend a year learning how to clean dog poop out of shoes than take this professor again. By far the worst professor I have ever had. The unexpected weekend events that were mandatory made me wanna transfer schools. Goodbye critical reading I will not miss you in the slightest.
