If you do all of your work and do what you are supposed to do you will be fine. She is always there to help you with math. Do the homework even though it is optional. Come to class everyday.
Her tests are similar to the homework and classwork problems, so as long as you do both, you will do fine.
She is very helpful and always friendly when it comes to her students. She doesn't collect homework and offers group quizzes a lot. She is very good at what she does.
Spring15 Test and quizzes were similar to homework and in-class group work. She covered everything thoroughly, always answered questions and was very nice. She has an accent but it was never a problem. She doesn't take up homework but you need to stay on top of it to be able to get the group work done during class. Very fair.
She's super easy. Take her, you won't regret it. I'm sitting in Calc I right now with over 100. I took her for pre-calc and got an A. Right now I'm signed up to take her class for Calc II next semester. I never bought/used the book in both classes. Study only what she gives you (testing material included). She's funny, smart, and is there for you.
Her grading is quite strict, SPEEDS through material but uses her homework and examples as closely related test questions. Quizzes are often group which helped. I feel like there should be a better professor but I wouldn't not reccommend her. She's always there to help and heard she's the best calc II professor
She's fantastic. Gives thorough lectures with plenty of examples. Makes herself available for and questions you might have in or outside of class. She has an accent but that has never once gotten in the way of her teaching. Highly recommend.
Literally hands you the grades. Quizzes that you can do as a class, classwork for a grade(easy), and tons of extra credit. Tests can sink you though if you are not careful. Sometimes the graded work is not announced. You must show up.
Great teacher for calc 1, I would highly recommend her. She teaches the material better than most teachers i have had in school, and she lays out clear expectations for her tests. Do the homework and attend class and you will get an A or a B.
The reviews given are accurate as to how intelligent she is, but she goes at such a rapid pace that it's hard to really learn anything through the lectures. There is classwork that is done in groups, but I didn't find it that helpful. Tests are hard, even after doing homework and studying.
Ms. Kang is a very nice lady and a good teacher overall. I had her for Calc 2 which is just a hard class to begin with, but she does everything in her power to help you succeed. She has a strong accent and can go a little fast when teaching, but those are the only downfalls. Replaces lowest test with finals, lots of extra credit.
So great! She goes over everything so many times so that you truly understand. Such a nice lady, and caring. Definitely take her!!!!
She also teaches at Oglethorpe she is the best math teacher ever she has an accent but its not so hard to understand she cares about your understand always available for office hours and she grades your test so quick as long as you do her homework you will succeed in the class! You must go to class to be successful bc she often gives extra credit
Extensive lecture, quizzes every week and exams every other week. Final is cumulative, but the material is not difficult, and she gives A LOT of extra credit for doing the non-manditory online MyMathLab homework.
The most generous, kind , outgoing Professor Ive ever had. Shes fun and will put the time in to help you with your work. I wanna say its a free A, but you do have to do your work. You have to show up to class and take notes, then do the homework. Just do what youre told and you should do well, and if youre stuck please go to her she will help
Mrs Kang is the bomb. She gives quizzes every week over classwork you did in groups the class before. Some of the quizzes are group quizzes. Show up for the Classwork and quiz days, and be able to do the classwork before the test and youll easily pass. She gives bonus points on each test and some quizzes. She explains everything great
She is hands down the best! The lectures are long but she makes it fun. She also cares about her students. If you are taking calc2 I would recommend you take her. She makes it fun and easy. Loved her class.
Took for Calc 1, great Professor. She explains well and answers all questions. Don't be afraid to ask her to go back and explain if you don't understand something. Already signed up for her for calc 2.
She has a strong Korean accent, but you get used to it within a few days. She's the best math teacher I've ever had. She's super organized and explains everything thoroughly with tons of examples for each unit. The test questions come straight from the group classwork, and she also offers extra credit on pretty much every test and quiz.
Professor Kang cares about her students, but she still expects them to put in the work. Her class is not one you can skip. She moves so fast, that once you miss a day, catching up can be very difficult but not impossible. She is a good professor trying her hardest to help students with a traditionally tough course
By far one of the best math professors of my life. She explains everything extremely well and gives everyone the opportunity to do as good or bad as they want. She even decided to not do homework as a whole! Tests can be tough, come to class and take decent notes and you'll do fine.
Best teacher ever. She writes a lot on the board. Write everything down. Her quizzes and classwork are key to tests. If you review/ rewrite your notes, quizzes and classwork you will get an A in her class. Ask questions during class, she will show you tricks to calculus stuff. Very nice. Write everything down. I only got C because I didn't study.
Good teacher, sometimes goes too fast but will adjust if you let her know. She's willing to help and will do group assignments to make things easier on you.
I took her for Trig and Calc 2. I love her so much. She works several problems each lecture, and the quizzes and classwork and tests all follow the same layout. You know what to expect in her class. Show up to class, take notes, and it's a pretty easy class
She's the best math teacher I've ever had. Took her for calc 1 and calc 2 and would highly recommend her. She doesn't allow a calculator so her questions are easy with small numbers. She knows the question before you ask and is very intelligent and also extremely helpful in class. Go to lectures, she has very similar questions on tests and quizzes
By far the best math professor I've had. I've taken her for both Calc 1&2, and she has made me come to really appreciate calculus. She is really smart and knowledgeable and is always able to get you to understand the concepts. Often gives group quizzes and drops the lowest one. Go to lecture, review the study guides and quizzes and you'll be fine.
Starting off let me just say this is I took her for ODE, which is a tough and confusing subject. I have no doubt that she's a great Calc 1-2 prof, but her teaching/grading style is very confusing for ODE. Her test are VERY hard and if you mess up on any part of the equation then you can forget it that's an instant half points off.
Solving differential equations with applications. How this class goes for you will largely depend on math skills and retention up to this point. Concepts from Calc make a comeback like integration by parts, chain rule, product rule, etc. often involving trig functions & exponentials . No Homework. Exams reflect quizzes. Easy A if you're prepared.
What a wonderful woman, wonderful professor! I wish all my professors were this enthusiastic about doing what it takes to make sure their students understand the material. She is always helpful, in or out of class. She gives you the grade you deserve and gives credit when you make an effort. Please take for anything you can
Easily the best math professor available for calculus 2 or 3. Very thorough notes on the board. Breaks down every problem with clear and understandable solutions. Works in your favor on tests and quizzes (partial credit). Very Caring and very eager to answer your questions. Keeps students engaged and gives us ample time to study in small groups :)
Synnu Kang is known as "Mama Kang" bu a lot of students at SPSU. I mean you cant improve perfection. She explains everything multiple times and also doesnt make the material stagnant. If you like fast pace this might be for you. NO HW, Quizzes (mostly group), Classwork (group), 3 tests+final (replaces lowest). Trust me if your doing STEM TAKE HER.
Prof. Kang is easily one of the best professors I have had at Kennesaw. She cares so much about her students and explains complex subjects incredibly well. Homework isn't mandatory so you don't have to buy a textbook. Pretty lenient grader but her tests and quizzes are pretty difficult. Overall amazing teacher!
I took Mrs. Kang for Calc 1 last year (Fall 2018). Her class is so much fun! She is a very caring (and funny) professor. A lot of the quizzes are done in groups, and the homework is optional (so is the textbook). Her delivery is fast and the tests are based on the lectures/quizzes, so not too bad. Overall the class is high energy and enjoyable!
Took her for trig want a good prof take her notes are literally whats on the test Very willing to help you pass cant miss test but will replace test grades and what not has a little asian accent but she is a good teacher who cares you have to attempt to fail in order to fail pay attention NO Homework and everything from test and comes from notes
Mrs. Kang is absolutely amazing! By far one of the best professors I've had and my favorite math teacher ever. I took her for Calc 2 and Diff EQ, and got A's both times. She's ridiculously nice and funny. She gives you practice tests which are the exams with different numbers. Weekly quizzes, sometimes lets you work together. HW was extra credit.
Sunny Kang is an awesome math professor. I took her for Calculus 2, which I heard is such a difficult course. If you pay attention in class and study all quizzes/homework problems for the test, there should be no reason you don't at least pass her class.
Easy professor that also teaches the material really well.
Sunny Kang is the reason I am a math major. She is incredibly caring and passionate. She moves super fast, esp in calc 2, so if you miss just one lecture it's super hard to catch up. I've had her for two semesters and still love her.
I took the online summer course. 80% of your whole grade is based off of 3 tests. They are all on ALEKS with lockdown AND webcam . Can't use your own calculator on tests!! Lots of hw due on random days. Definitely have to work for your grade, so I recommend only taking this class if you're good at math. Extremely tough, but not impossible.
I took Mrs. Kang over the summer. Her syllabus says be prepared to spend 5-10 hours a week in ALEKS. She wasn't kidding. She is very hard to understand in her video lectures do to her accent. So I've had to teach myself most of the material. Be ready to work for your grade because it won't come easy. 3 Tests are worth 80% of your grade too.
Amazing math teacher. Great at explaining things, lots of group work in class for practice. Lots of quizzes and practice so you will do well on tests if you show up and pay attention. If you have good attendance, take her!
If I could give lower than a one I would. Test taking procedures are ridiculous. Please pick someone else.
Gives you everything you need to do well in her class(videos, notes, worksheets,hw). Lots of hw but its not an issue. Only complaint is that her tests are very strict to stop cheating. You get one warning after that you get a zero. A good bit of the class got a warning on the first test. follow her test instruction to the t
I loved Professor Kangs precalculus class. She explains each type of problem well in her lecture videos and class sessions, so if you watch and understand the lectures, the homework and exams are fairly easy. Assignments are not difficult, but make sure you show your work because she may give partial credit.
Professor Kang is an awesome professor for Calc 2, the class is a challenging class but she genuinely cares about her students and their success. She is a bit fast-paced but as long as you pay attention and ask questions you will be fine. She gives HW that is due for every test, easy worksheets, and tests.
She's an okay professor, her accent is just hard for me to understand (Not her Fault obviously) and she talks fast. Expected A LOT of homework. She's super-strict during tests to prevent cheating, but you're allowed to have a notecard for formulas. Attend class, do well on all assignments, and pray through the tests and you should make it.
Professor Kang teaches at a faced pace but she's willing to explain in more detail if you ask. She gives worksheets and online homework that can be a lot. She gives partial credit on the tests. Do her extra credit opportunities. Every point is helpful. Study worksheets, test review, and notes. Calc 2 has a lot of stuff so you will need to study.
She actually trys to make sure you understand what she teaches
Professor Kang is a great and thorough professor. Her lectures make a lot of sense and her practices/homework help a lot. Her Study Guide's match her tests. But you MUST pay attention in class and actually practice to pass. She did well with the online format during COVID. Take notes as well. And you will be fine.
Professor Kang is a great teacher and she explains calculus well. Calc 2 in general is a hard class and she does all that she can to make it easier for the students. She recorded her lectures the semester I took her and this helped a lot. Sometimes she is hard to understand when she goes fast so its good you can always watch it back
Very nice as long as you put in an effort she will help you.
Although this is a good professor, I would not take her if you struggle in math. Make sure to have an agenda to keep track of dates. It wouldn't hurt to give yourself at least a week in advance of completing the homework. That way you've already completed the work before coming to class. Come to class early, sit in the front. Ask questions.
Fast paced class, just relearn the material on yt or attend office hours. Attendance isnt mandatory but you'll need to attend class since she gives worksheets randomly & explains how to solve problems without a calculator. HW is every week & on ALEKS. Gives extra credit, sometimes allows group quizzes & tells the class what to study for on tests.
HW is optional, and I didn't think it was necessary. To pass her class, rely on practicing problems from in-class examples, worksheets, and quizzes. She has three tests that come directly from those three. Her lectures are wonderful, and cover a lot of information so don't skip class. She's very enthusiastic and happy about Calc 3; a real gem!
Calculus 3 is a difficult topic, but Professor Kang will make sure you understand the process for each concept. She makes sure everyone is okay to move on after each example. She does teach FAST, so be ready. Tests are more difficult than examples given, extra practice is recommended. Occasionally, she will give extra credit problems.
I took this class for Summer '22 online. It was pretty doable if you came with a bit of Precalc knowledge already. Most coursework is done through ALEKS. The bulk of your grade comes from exams and the ALEKS homework. I want to emphasize if your math fundamentals are weak, expect a heavy time commitment. The exams have no cheat sheets allowed.
The best summer class I have taken. The lectures were clear and she worked out plenty of examples to make concepts crystal clear, and answered questions respectfully. I never felt like the tests were harder than what we had done before. Note, however, that missing class is quite brutal due to the speed of the class.
First and foremost I LOVED HER !!! I took calc 1 over the summer with Professor Kang, she truly knows how to break down problems and clear up any misunderstandings. Since this class was a summer class the lecture was fast, each class day there was a quiz and worksheet, attending class is critical and reflects your performance.
Took her class for college Algebra. Worst class of my entire 4 years. Quiz every Tuesday with the quiz only being 2 questions so if you didn't know something it was an automatic fail. 2 worksheets and 30 topics of Aleks every single week on top of the regular load. The lectures go 3 units a week minimum while she absolutely blows through them
Calc 1 is difficult but she genuinely cares. Not graded on attendance but if you don't go to class you will be lost. Drops 2 lowest quiz and worksheet grades. She makes it very clear what will be on the tests and will never put any surprises on the tests. Great professor. Accent can take a little bit to get used to but it is not bad at all.
Best math teacher at KSU
Calc 1 was extremly difficult for me personally as I never had any experience outside of pre cal. She managed to slightly help me with her lectures but it was hard to grasp some of her complicated examples. I just wished there was more Extra Credit opportunities but other than that I'd recommemend her (if you already know what you're doing)
Cannot understand what she is saying, teaches way too fast. If you can't keep up then you will fail, her teaching method is sink or swim. So, head to the smart center to teach yourself.
She is great! She cares a lot and is always willing to help. She does move fast but if you need her to slow down she will. There are 10 quizzes but you will ALWAYS be prepared. They are just like the WS. Every WS is in groups and if she can tell the class is struggling she might give group quizzes. Gives LOTS of partial credit. TAKE HER!!
She was awful please, if possible, choose another professor it's not worth it. Talks way too fast and I can't understand a word she says. Her Test were difficult as well, pls do not take.
This professor is really nice and respond to email quick. However, she is a very tough grader. Like UGH avoid her at all cost. Really nice lady though.
I absolutely love Professor Kang. She is amazing! She is going to be the single best choice for Calculus courses at KSU. She is very generous with partial credit on exams, which are not super lengthy. She is not against extra credit like some professors are. 10/10 would recommend.
I honestly loved her class and I hate math in general. She makes math simple, easy and creates tests on what SHE COVERED (a rarity for math teachers). I never studied for a test in her class and I learned the material well. She makes every concept simple as long as you pay attention and take notes
I hated math growing up because I had always struggled with it and was terrified of taking college math. Professor Kang made it very simple for me to understand and her exams/quizzes reflected the Aleks hw and worksheets done in class. The study guide she gives is also used as extra credit that she adds to the exams. I loved and enjoyed her class!!
She is more than willing to help if you have questions at any point, and she is also nice. She gives review questions before every exam (except for the final, just use the previous exam reviews) and you are given extra credit it you do 20 review problems & turn them in the day of the exam. 2 quizzes are dropped and lowest exam get replaced by final
She isn't the worst, but she isn't the best. Exams are quite difficult and her lectures are very fast-paced. Unless you're up for that challenge, I wouldn't take her. She gives extra credit on exams which helps, but in the end, you'll be studying tons on your own to get passing grades.
Attendance is not mandatory, but you will miss a lot of key information if you regularly miss classes as she tends to move pretty quickly through topics. Make sure to study quizzes and worksheets because she will revisit similar problems on tests. ALOT of homework but unlimited online attempts (due at the end of the semester). Gives extra credit.
Ms. Kang does a great job of breaking down the difficult topics in calc 2. She will give you plenty of example problems for each topic and walk you through the steps for solving the problems. If you have any questions, she will gladly do her best to answer them. If you can do the problems on her worksheets and quizzes, you will do fine on tests.
By far the worst time I've had at ksu. goes through material way too quick, and if you ask questions, she scoffs and either brushes the question off, or tries to explain and makes it worse. save yourself the trouble and pick someone else.
I would not blindly believe all of the math majors' reviews here. Class starts off easy and IMMEDIATELY exponentially escalates in difficulty. Stuff in class and in reviews could be doable, but then you see the questions on the test and go cross-eyed. The final was straight up god awful. I would only take her if NO ONE else is better. I warned ya
She can be a little hard to understand at times but if you ask a question of clarification she is more than happy to elaborate. She is also available outside of class. GO TO CLASS. She doesn't often go back over previous material so missing a class can be bad. She gives a study guide (and extra credit options) for all tests (except for the final)
Really not for me. Her teaching style is very loud and abrasive. I enjoy learning the concepts, and she wants to hammer the 'processes' into you without understanding why, and she really bristled at the conceptual questions I would ask, multiple times. I ended up withdrawing bc I had too much to focus on for an upcoming internship.
I feel like various of the lower rating commentary was inaccurate regarding Professor Kang and her teaching style. She provides a lot of information and resources to her students. There is a lot of material to cover, but she is very sweet and genuinely cares about her students. She will go above and beyond to teach her students.
I took Sunny Kang last fall and she was decent. I got 100 percent on the quiz section and I got high to low Bs on the tests. This class was a lot of work, but luckily we had a TA so it made the class a little easier. The final was very hard and it dropped me to a C in this class. Some obscure derivative and integral rules might get you.
Mrs. Kang did a fantastic job teaching calc II. This is a challenging course regardless of your professor but Professor Kang makes it very straightforward and is very kind. Lectures throughout the week and gives a group worksheet and 1-2 question quiz to test your knowledge. Provides extra credit opportunities and is very accessible and kind!!
A wonderful professor, but my GOD is the class hard. It's a mix of Calculus 2 being tough and her goal with teaching. She wants you to truly understand the concepts by giving difficult questions. The TA does do a great job helping. HW can stack up if not managed. I will repeat, this class is NOT a breeze, but the professor is good.
Professor Kang truly cares about the students and tries her best to explain concepts. She can be a bit fast in lectures and expects students to study outside of class, but her grading is fair as she gives partial credit often. She also provides group worksheets that are identical to the quizzes, and the quizzes are similar questions to the test.
Mrs. Kang is easily one of the best math professors you can take. She makes it her goal to make sure you understand the content and is always reachable. Her tests are a lot more difficult than what you study in class however. When studying be ready to integrate or differentiate the most insane function imaginable.
This is the professor to take if you want to really understand and succeed in Calc 2! Lots of in-person group worksheets and individual quizzes, and you are given over a month to complete homework sets. Her lectures are super engaging, and she covers examples you'll see in exams as well as homework. Easily the best professor I've ever had!
She moves very quickly in lectures and gives worksheets/quizzes in class which are a small portion of the overall grade but essential for success on tests. Tests are challenging, and Calc 1&2 skills will need to be second nature to succeed. Definitely take advantage of the small extra credit opportunities to boost your grade in this class.
Calc 2 is a challenging class, but no one ever said anything remotely bad about Sunny Kang. She is funny, specific, and makes it very easy to learn hard subjects. One of my favorite professors ever.
Professor Kang gave really good lectures and, despite strict absence policies, gave relatively fair tests and quizzes. There's a lot of outside resources provided to help as well. Made Calc 2 one of my easier classes, definitely recommend
Make sure you show up to class. She posts all of her lecture slides to d2l, but they can be a little hard to understand. She will rarely go over the material again. Her tests are hard, but make sure you study all the slides. She gives you what each questions will be over before the test. She is a good professor, do the work and you will be fine
Very straight to the point. Lectures gave everything you need and explained in good detail. Many of the difficulties come with the class, so try not to miss a single lecture.
She is absolutely phenomenal. I've taken her for three different math classes, and her dedication is still unmatched. She genuinely cares about her students and consistently goes above and beyond to support anyone who seeks her help. Her nurturing yet to-the-point nature makes her an incredible educator. - Dare I say, she's demure.
Kang was very knowledgeable about the content, and is great at translating it to easier terms for us to understand. She gives you a study guide for each test to follow and it's basically the test. She can be a harsh grader though, and you'll get 1/2 the points off even if you get the correct answer, if you mess up half a bound or something silly.
Mrs. Kang is the best math professor I've ever had! Took Calc II and III with her and she just does an amazing job. She's incredibly knowledgeable and skilled in the subjects, but brings with that a very helpful, kind, and tested teaching approach. Always provides extra credit and really makes you practice in class which will help you succeed!
She is a very solid teacher ; but would recommend to review the matrial before taking her class. Gives alot of quizzes so be prepared for that.
My only problem with her is that sometimes the lectures were too fast for me. But it might just be a me thing of spacing out every once in a while
Professor Kang is the best/fairest grader around. She offered extra credit on the tests except the final. She gave helpful review problem sets for all tests. Lectures went very fast, so you need to study outside of class to do well. Though, she always graded on time, allowing me to see what I needed to improve on throughout the semester! 100% take!
Good at teaching & direct, interacts with students. Many opportunities for extra credit which saved my grade. Keep in mind u will still have to study a lot on your own time, as this is a hard course. However, she is very willing to explain concepts that are tough to understand in more detail, sets clear grading expectations and feedback.
Extremely kind, charismatic, and phenomenal professor. She made what would have been a difficult class exciting, interesting, and very understandable. Lectures are fast-paced, but she covers a wide variety of examples for each topic. If I needed to take Calc III, I would choose her for it, too.
