Do not take this teacher. If you are expecting reviews don't even bother with her she doesn't give such things, she doesn't answer questions directly she beats around the bush a lot, she spaces out, doesn't work out her problems correctly on the board, doesn't give extra credit, and is kind of rude and doesn't care about if your internet goes out.
Mrs. Gibbons is great, I love her! She is very helpful, even after hours and truly cares about her students. As long as you show up AND do your homework, it's easy. She also gives extra credit and is very friendly! She loves to smile!
Not helpful, Dont teach with clarity, she grade super hard, take points off for everything. All lot of students withdraw or fail her class. She maybe better of teaching advance math than remedial, because she teaches as if you should not it already.
Her teaching style is no good for a remedial class. She is not helpful and cannot answer direct questions. She rushes through each lessons so she makes a errors. She gives TOO MUCH MATH XL HOMEWORK ):
Great teacher, really takes the time to answer questions during and after class. She's available when you need her. She does care about her students.
LOVED her! I so wish I could take her for MAT 0033!If you do the homework, attend class and study a little, it's easy to get an A.She is very friendly and helpful.
She didn't help me at all throughout the course.
She is an incredible prof!he s very clear in her lectures, thorough and easily approachable.
Sunshine embodies everything I think an instructor should be. Not only is she a fantastic teacher but you can tell she has a genuine interest in educating her students. She is very help and actually works out problems instead of just copying the answers from the book or prepared notes. I wish there were more teachers like Sunshine in this world.
Good Prof
Would highly recommend Mrs. Sunshine!! She is VERY VERY sweet, breaks everything down so that it is easy to understand. She is always available for extra help. I have always had trouble understand math until talking her class. I am currently taking 0028 with her now.
Expects us to know all the material before teaching the chapter. Skips steps and rushes through the lesson in order to stay on schedule. Doesn't provide enough examples of the materials she's teaching.
I have her currently and I think she is one of the best math teachers I have had to date. She expects you to have background knowledge from your previous class, so if you don't you will have difficulty. She tries to show you different styles to approach the problem and offers extra credit a lot. I love her and would suggest taking her!
I LOVE THIS TEACHER!!! She is the sweetest kindest teacher, I took her first for Intermediate Algebra and was hooked she works out the problem until you understand it, I didn't have to take College Algebra for my other math credit, I could have taken an easier math but since she was teaching it I had to have her again!! Best teacher I've ever had!
Did not learn nothing from this teacher. I learned more from my peers then I did attending her class. Her writing is sloppy, she speaks too fast when explaining something. I'm not good at math at all, and she was no help. I do not recommend taking her if you aren't very good at math to begin with. You won't pass.
The subject matter is difficult and should be broken down into two classes. Because there is so much, I have found all of the math teachers go too fast. But Ms. Gibbons is clear, understands math concepts perfectly, and helps when you ask.
grate teacher I had her for a year
hardest class I've ever taken. told the class the first week of school that half of us weren't going to pass.. her grading was very hard.
Do not take this class!!!! She does not truly care about her students. She tells her students they will fail from the first day. However, she is great at creating math anxiety. You will not learn in her class and you will have to learn independently. Her teaching style is useless!!!
She talk way too fast but she's funny and a very nice teacher. However I still hate Math. But I love her! She gives extra credits.
This class is really hard. The professor talks really fast and expects the whole class to know all the material. Plus, she doesn't give enough examples of all the material. not that much extra credit given. She speeds through sections and chapters so that she can be on the right pace for her class schedule.
This instructor is difficult to work with. She teaches at an incredibly fast pace and has no regard for personal situations. She did not allow me to make up a test after a family member died, even with a letter from the funeral director. Again, very difficult to work with. I strong discourage anyone to enroll in her course.
I've had her for two semesters and she's awesome. You ask her a question on a problem you have and she'll explain it before class. Math on this Aleks program was terrible but if it was like the first semester, where are it's class and mymathlab then it's pretty easy. No books were needed.
Not a great teacher. She is bad at explaining material. Lots and lots of homework. She's not very reasonable. I would not take her again.
She was OK I guess. Her tests were way to difficult, and it makes me question how good at Math I really am. I did manage to pass the class with a 76 though.
Homework is short and simple. Attendance, homework, and practice test are worth half your grade. The tests DO NOT resemble homework or practice tests at all. I failed each test because I studied the homework and practice tests. The class is great if you know the material and don't like homework. Do not take her unless you understand math.
Terrible professor
Took her online college algebra class. Pretty easy, she gave out mostly 10 question hw. Shes super slow with updating grades. She was assigned this class last minute, so she seemed careless
The Pearson Math lab she did online was frustrating and incredibly fallible. Whenever I would reach out to ask her to check on the site and the grades/answers calculated she was resistant to investigate. I needed a C to go to College algebra, missed by 2 points, she gave a D. Ultimately I passed out and am taking College algebra now.
I took college algebra online and passed with a B. She was very helpful by emailing us if we needed any help on anything. Before our finals she dropped our 4 lowest scores on homework and 2 of our test scores. Overall I had a great experience with her, just read your book, take notes, and do your work.
My first math class was a hybrid class with her. I dropped that class because she did not explain her work and was too fast, keep in mind this is a beginners class for a reason. I enrolled in the online class with her (again) and she was nice to give a review for the final exam which you have to take in person. Find a way to learn on you own.
Don't take this class online! Exams are difficult and long! Expect Homework every week, even on holidays. The professor does not answer her inbox!
No lectures, no online meetings, no nothing. I did the MyMathLab homework, practice tests, and quizzes. Got an A. Easy Peezy Lemon Squeezy.
I took first time Math online and I just can tell that she is a professional and dedicated to her job. She answers all your questions. I loved the fact before the final exam she went through the questions and explained everything that the student needs to know. Wanted to take her class again but No chance. I registered late.
I took the online MAT0028 class and lectures were from the online learning site. Due dates were clear and you could work ahead. I got a D on the final but the Bell Curve grading gave me an A.
Material shown in class is different from homework, homework is different from quizzes, tests are a lot harder than quizzes. Wasted 5 credits, time, and money.
i took her class online for 0022 that's 0018 and 0028 combined very hard because it was online but the extra credit helped me passed. you will pass as long as you do the assigned homework and quizzes. the beginning is tough with the work load but after ch 2 you only have to do 3 lessons a week. workload not that bad exams were ok
Great professor. For MAC2311 she was a little fast paced, but she'd normally slow down if one requires better explanation. She is also very helpful responding to concerns about the homework material and offers A LOT of extra credit opportunities, especially for the tests. Im very satisfied and taking her again this semester for MAC2312.
Very smart professor. She knows her math and is very quick. MyMathLab is the largest component of your grade along with your final. If you don't do online homework you are screwed and its very difficult to raise your grade. She gets frustrated when has to explain more than once and does not help much. Oh and shes very biased.
Professor Gibbons is horrible! For her online course, she schedules mandatory online conferences but then she fails to show up to all but 1 of them. She does not respond to emails, she is slow to grade, her assignments do not correlate with each other, and if you don't get the problem the 1st time don't ask her because she has no patience.
This professor does not thoroughly explain content and assumes that students have all previous formulas and information form the past six years readily available. Will skip steps when working out examples perpetually and try to move on even if students don't yet understand, due to time restraints. Slow responder with emails, no late work accepted.
This class is very straight forward. EASY A. Although, she does not always get back to you on questions you have about quizzes (and what you got wrong). She is a great professor though! The exams are just the quizzes combined.
My second time in Calc 2 after a far worse experience with another teacher. The beauty of this class is there are five graded "Activities" which help you demonstrate your work which is good, that is compared to having to rely more on Tests. This saved my grade. Obviously something worked since I passed this time; Extra Credit too! Do recommend.
Great teacher! She gets through the material and only keeps students in class for as long as the lesson takes. If I needed help after class, she would stay behind and help me every time.
I took her online class. It was very easy to learn. She did give extra credits. She quizzed each chapter and only give two exams. I got an easy A+.
Very rude response in email , very little help , not much of a one on one coach.
Best teacher ever!
Patronizing and uncaring. Seems more robot than human.
nightmare class, nightmare instructor . Gives extra credit if enough people fail, but she is just rude and unpleasant to deal with.
I'm currently in the class never again. I wish the tests was multiple choice it isn't.
man this hippy, doesn't grade fair. If you not in her club about plants she fails you. if you have to take a online course don't take her she hard to reach, and help and her extra credit sucks she's not even gonna give you the points. i wished i didn't pick her for this class . warning run.
Easiest teacher ever. Very very little homework (all easy 100s), no quizzes or tests, only two exams (15 questions) second exam is multiple choice. Gives extra credit.
Dr. Gibbons is simply the best Calculus professor anyone could ask for. Calculus is hard and no matter who youre taking you have to put in the hours, but Dr. Gibbons is the most considerate, most intelligent, and most hardworking professor Ive ever had. She inspired, and still does inspire, me to work hard, and her expectations were clear. 10/10
Dr. Gibbons explains everything really well and is always really eager to answer any questions that you have. She is really accessible outside of class. Homework due every weekend. Had to take 8 tests, but she drops the lowest grade. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Tests are a little bit on the tougher side, but study and you'll be good
Average, her grading isn't all fair but I do the work and get it done its pretty simple. Whenever I email her I feel like I'm bothering her and I feel as if I get attitude.
Professor Gibbons isn't horrible but she wasn't my favorite. She gives you plenty of time to do your tests and homework though. If you just want to stay in your own lane and have a teacher that lets you do your online work without overloading you then shes what you want. If you need extra help, I wouldn't.
Online class was very straight forward. I learned a lot through the tutorial videos. If i had any questions she was quick to help.
The reason im giving her such a harsh grade is because on the quizzes, if you answer 3,0 she marks it wrong because it should have had parenthesis. made the mistake once and she wouldnt accept it. horrible teacher
I took this course online. The modules are very informative. You have 10 modules to complete. Progress report and a quiz due every weekend. Quizzes/reports are worth almost 17% of the grade. The midterm and final are worth 33%. Study the quizzes for the midterm/finals. Very straightforward and hassle free:)
Do not take her class especially online, if math is hard for you. I took her for intermediate algebra and barely passed with a B, and against my better judgement, took her again for college algebra. her midterms and finals are only FIFTEEN questions, which makes them IMPOSSIBLE to pass. The homework is impossible with her lecture videos. just run.
Dr Gibbons was great. The course material was challenging but she was patient and did a very good job at both explaining it and fielding as many questions as the class had.
For my first semester in college this class was pretty alright. Just do the work and study and you should be fine.
1. Gives unclear directions for how to enter answers 2. Gives 0/10 points on homework assignments even if you completed most of it. Its all or nothing with this lady. 3. Just plain rude 4. Tests/Exams have like 20 questions which is super unfair
She is extremely rude, She answers questions by giving you the opposite of what you asked for. Isnt technology proficent. Because of that she makes the way you turn homework in, extremely difficult and extra. Avoid her, especially if you would like teacher who can guide you and teach.
Doesnt believe in second chances so get things right the first time. This online class is not for those who took gap years as shes not patient or helpful. Exams are worth 30% of your grade and only have 20 questions. No study guides or practice worksheets. Exam questions were irrelevant to material learned. Youre on your own 100%.
I took this teacher back in 2018 & she was so much fun. She was so caring & helpful. Now shes really harsh, she doesnt care about you passing, she doesnt care if you dot know the material, shes disrespectful & she talks to you like she doesnt care. When you ask to get on zoom, she has her camera off but expects you to have yours on.
So far in my college experience this has been the worse teacher ever!! I submitted my discussion at 11:58 and it was due at 11:59 but it was marked late I even took a picture showing her the time it was submitted and that it was submitted on time and instead of correcting the issue she told me its my fault and to submit sooner. She is very rude!!!
Assigned up to 70 homework questions (yes, 70) a week depending on how many topics are in the module. Had a test and a topic discussion due all on the same day. Very stressful and unnecessary.
Please, do not take her. she is the meanest person I have ever known. She doesn't help or support the students what's so ever, besides she gives zeros with no regret. Moreover, no zoom lessons, no chapter or module explanations, everything is done by you and the computer. She is effortless, to be exact, and has no time for no one.
Her way or the highway. Read FAQs thoroughly before considering her class.
I gave a middle rating because while the class itself wasn't that difficult for me, I can imagine others having a rough time with it. You are expected to make up your own 10 questions for each topic covered in a chapter, and answer said 10 questions for you homework grade. I got a 0 for a couple assignments for not formatting properly, so beware.
Great teacher
Professor Gibbons is a fair grader. There is enough homework that you need to pace yourself, as it is difficult to do multiple sections at the last minute. If you show your work, youll get credit. The midterm and final are pulled from questions on the quizzes. I would take another class of Professor Gibbons.
I took Dr. Gibbons for MAT1033 as well and I would take her again. Her course is so simply put & assignments are spaced out. If something is optional, do it (extra credit) Follow directions & you wont have a problem. HW is reasonable. No tests. Study questions from quizzes to pass mid & final exams. I was able to balance other classes w/ her class
I love her class. This is the second time i took her class and continue loving it. I already registered for my last math class with her in fall 2021. Forget about the bad reviews, do yourself a favor an take Sunshine Gibbson as your professor, you wont regret it. This is an easy class and she is fair when grading. I love her class.
I took this class for spring 2021, I highly recommend taking this course with profesor Gibbons. Provides good material that help understand Math. She provided a lot of time to do homework, quizzes and discussions. On 16 weeks semester of course. Easy to understand and communicate with her and gives good extra credits.
Fair, responsive with high expectations! A lot of reading, how to videos, assignments and each module had a discussion. One will be prepared for the module quizzes. With a full load, my time was limited but I was able to complete all of the assignments on time. Much to my surprise, there was an opportunity for extra credit-THANKFULLY! Great course.
She was a good lecturer it was online not live, but there were lots of video's to explain each topic. She explained her instructions well, very straightforward for what she wanted and expected from her students. It is a lot of homework though but practice makes perfect right. There is also extra credit.
easy going teacher
I enjoyed being in her class. I struggled with algebra already but felt this class was easier to understand.
The homework format for the spring semester focused a lot on doing things by hand and being penalized for misnaming a scan. I'd rather take a class where I can answer my questions digitally , get them wrong, learn and move on. That being said, the requirements are just a distraction but not a terrible burden. She says she's changing it up next.
This class is very easy to pass as long as you keep yourself accountable on staying up to date with your assignments. It is more self paced so if you have a busy schedule, this class is perfect!
I had her class maybe two weeks before I choose to drop her course . If you are someone who needs a teacher who thoroughly helps and actively reaches out and engages with her class shes not it !She knit picks EVERYTHING you turn and graded everything but my math answer .. she is extremely rude and failed me on a introduce yourself assignment ?
If you have trouble with math, Just dont take it you wont pass. Is a class programmed to make student fell.
The subject was tough, but Mrs. Gibbons helped provide information and consistent grading through out the whole semester.
Do not take this professor. Her class is easy but if you ask her a question concerning your grades she will just tell you to go look at the syllabus instead of helping you out. Even though I have participated for all the assignments given I still have a low grade in this class. She also does not do participation points.
This class met and exceeded my expectations. Do the homework, study the topics you are having difficulty with diligently and you will do well. Prof. Sunshine Gibbons is always at the ready to help too! She presents the material clearly while providing a variety of great resources to foster understanding such as instructional videos and more!
two thumbs way up
I took Prof Gibbons' online algebra class, and if you don't require guidance, then it's the perfect class. Modules are self paced, but due every week, sometimes 2 a week. Her grading is straight forward, kinda strict. But if you read the FAQs before beginning your modules, you'll be solid. She doesn't email or drop announcements often. Easy class.
Her homework assignments were long, but the tests and quizzes pull questions right from the homework so as long as you did the homework, you could get an easy A in her class. Would definitely recommend.
Prof. Gibbons was not bad, but a little strict. She don't accept late work, nor do make up tests. You must self-teach and take notes. She assigns mostly three tasks that you must complete, Sunday at midnight. You can send her a message about anything, but you must first read the FAQs. Exams are easy, 30% of your grade, 20 qns, and use Honorlock.
Got a B in the class because she graded my introduction paper with a heavy F because apparently I did not follow some obscure requirement. Got A on almost everything related to the class. B on my record for something not related to the class. Plus, she is not helpful on everything else.
She wasn't terrible, its a teach yourself type of style. If you have trouble or need guidance then I definitely would not take her class. For online classes she was not very active, she does not reach out to students so if you need constant communication then her class is a not for you. I would say to only take it if your good at self learning.
Professor Gibbons is amazing. You do a 50 Q HW assignment each month, then 20 questions from the HW make up your monthly quiz. Only midterm and final are proctored, and the Qs come from the monthly quizzes. Really simple class and Prof Gibbons helps you succeed.
If you are not good at math this is not a good course for you because there is no guided instruction. If you can teach yourself and just want a self paced course then this is good.
Professor Gibbons provides resources and guidance. There is no textbook, and the assignments are not too extensive, just hard enough to make sure the topics are mastered. There is a midterm and a final, as well as a quiz, module of homework, and discussion due weekly. Homework is on edready with lots of walkthrough videos & reading material.
As long as you follow directions well and complete all the assignments given you will be well prepared for the exams, and the teacher is understanding if you have an actual issue that was out of your control.
I was added into this course because the section I signed up for (with the prof I wanted) was canceled. I read her introduction page, and syllabus and immediately dropped her and signed up for another instructor. Math can be a challenge we don't need to add difficult instructors and sky-high expectations to the mix.
Whenever you reach out for help she only tells you to go to tutoring, when you do go and ask for some material so the tutor can help she doesn't respond.
Only 12 assignments throughout the semester, along with midterm and Final. 4 modules, each has discussion, homework, and quiz. The really good thing about her is that the questions from the quiz come directly from homework, and questions on midterm/final come directly from the quizzes. NO MYLAB, so it is fully on canvas, and she just posts videos.
One of the hardest professors I have ever taken. Keep in mind, this was an online class where you cant use a graphing calc. She makes you do all of the math old fashioned in a way that is time consuming and would never be used in the real world. When you ask for help, she tells you to look over the textbook. Hardest teacher I have ever encountered.
She is the best math teacher I have had. I am taking her again for MAC 1105 right now! Very few assignments are due. No, My Math Lab. She responds to her emails quickly. This is an online class so be prepared to learn on your own. The videos she attaches are very helpful and teach you step by step.
This professor is absolutely awful if I could give -10 I would. She is in the nicest way I can say, a b**ch. Make sure to read absolutely everything even her FAQ/Syllabus. I would NEVER recommend this professor, she does not answer questions, very unattended to her students, answers emails very rudely, does not go over the proper information needed
Mind you I signed up late for classes so now I understand why she was the only professor available. I got and A no thanks to her she does not teach at all, when you ask for help she makes you feel as if your a bother. I don't understand how she has any positive ratings, I will be taking a trip up to the school to complain about this one. AWFUL!!!!!
Horrible professor. Does not explain things. You are a bother to her if you as for help. She skips steps in explaining math problems. Hard grader. Make sure you use your parenthesis with her on the test or she will fail you. How can you be a professor but sit behind a computer and don't actually teach? She must be one miserable person at home.....
Good class if you're well equipped to teach yourself. She uses EdReady, was one of the most useful tools in this course. OpenStax was confusing and overall unhelpful to me. There's 10 modules, midterm, final, and a few discussions. Easy to handle. She puts videos after you take the tests explaining the answers, incredibly useful for the final exam.
Professor Gibbons provides free course materials for class which is helpful financially for students. Attendance and participation are required in this class. Professor Gibbons is passionate and easy going. She's always available and she really breaks down the work. Everything is straightforward and she's good you just have to do the work.
You will use EdReady for the assignments. She has more than one module sometimes per week and if you don't pay attention you can forget to do one. Also, she does these discussions which are boring and tedious but she mandates you do them exactly how she wants you to and she's strict about it. There's no interaction with her whatsoever.
Very easy. The teacher was average, and I did not have any real communication with her. Had two exams, both had two attempts and the questions were repeated and from the quizzes. Everything is through Ed ready. The quizzes are annoying because if you don't type it exactly how it wants, you will not get credit. Overall average class/ teacher.
The best part is the materials were included. Not too much hw and she will reply back quickly. Might not be the most polite but what can you do. Im gonna take her again as im not concerned with politeness , esp in an online course.
Professor overall was pretty easy as long as you checked what to do each week. Homework is about 50 questions, but you have two attempts, and you are then done with the class for the week. Tests DO use honorlock. Don't turn stuff in late as no late work is accepted!
The grades are determined by quizzes, homework problems, unit tests and two exams. The questions are all the same from the HW, unit tests and exams. If you just study the questions from the homework, you'll already know the answers for everything else. Two attempts on the midterm and final and drops lowest discussion grade, unit test and HW. Take.
Sunshine deletes negative rmp reviews, i tried to leave 2 already. She has absolutely no interaction with you at all. If you need help she will email you with an attitude. She does not teach AT ALL and recommends tutoring. I went to tutoring, still struggled and she told me i should take a different course. I am not sure how she is still teaching.
Professor Gibbons's class has a straightforward structure - homework, quizzes, and two exams with questions directly from the homework. unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for studying the practice questions. Overall, a manageable class if you stay on top of the work.
She wants you to succeed if you study ask questions and practice, you will pass with an A
She lacked empathy and did not care about tech issues or health issues. There are no excuses in her book, even with supporting documentation. The course is difficult, and she did not help. The absolute worst experience ever.
Had an attitude. The course was hard for me, and she didn't offer me any help. She was strict. Not sure why she didn't care.
I took Professor Gibbons for College Algebra 1 & 2. The classes mirrored each other, and were relatively easy for someone who is not great at math. As long as you know the material and pay attention to the questions on the quizzes, you will do fine on the midterm and finals. Both exams are recorded with honorlock, but the quizzes are not.
She was a good professor, she was very fair about grading. Not bad I would take again
Not sure why this professor has a low rating, I really liked her! I am HORRIBLE at math and ended the semester with an A+. The weekly 10 question quizzes are exactly what is on the midterm & the mostly the final, just pay attention on the final, some wording is changed & so are some answers. You get 2 attempts on the tests. She wants you to succeed
I'm shocked this professor has bad reviews. I enjoyed how easy this class fit into my personal life schedule. Easy to navigate and clear instructions. She uses quiz questions in the Mid-Term and finals, so therefore if you pay attention and do your work, you'll have no problem in this course. I hope her college math works out as easy for me.
