She is AMAZING in every sense of the word. She simplifies accounting. Her lectures are clear and helpful. She is SO nice and so willing to help and answer questions. Exams ARE difficult, study EVERYTHING. GREAT professor, definitely my personal favorite.
She is very nice and very willing to help and make sure everyone understands. She is also very undestanding of circumstances that may arise and cause you to reschedule a test. She is probably the best accounting professor.
She is very willing to go above and beyond to help you understand a very difficult course. Lectures are the most organized. Expectations high though...H/W everyday and exams are really difficult so be prepared!! Def. one of the better ACC Profs at UM-D
Excellent professor. Extremely nice lady, informs you of what she expects from you. Be prepared to work in this course, but it's fun nevertheless.
she is not going to be here next semester becasue she is having a baby.
The best accounting teacher on earth
She is the best. Baker makes the material clear and easy to understand. I still asker her questions(via email) and she gladly helps out.I hope to see hher teaching more advanced courses in the future. If you a have a chance to take her for a course ,You would be a fool not to.Thanks Mrs. Baker!
Best Acc prof at UMD. Explains powerpoint presentations thoroughly. Goes over HW the next day after handing it in so make copies of the hw. Exams are difficult. Offers an extra credit paper. Read the book and study a lot for exams. Extremely nice and helpful. Class was very interesting even tho I took it in the summer.
A difficult class, but an A is attainable with extra credit paper & when she curves the tests. Homework not graded on correctness! You'll definantely need to put some effort into this class, but it isn't that bad as long as you keep up with the reading and homework. Tests always based on the review problems she posts on eres, study these prob!
This teacher is a very good choice. Accounting is not an easy topic, but she breaks it down well and her exams are not as difficult as they can be in other classes. I would surely take her again if I had the choice. Some of the other Acc teachers are really scary. But with Baker, a decent grade (B) can be had with average effort.
Professor Baker is an excellent teacher, although the class is driven primarily by powerpoint presentations, she is very helpful when it comes to reviewing homework. If you do the homework, you will be successful. I would take this class again in a heartbeat!
Great professor! Makes accounting seem much easier than it is. Exams and quizes are difficult if you are not prepared, but they are extremely straight forward. Best professor for accounting and UM-D.
Great Prof! She tries very hard to explain the concepts to students and to make sure they understand them. She's very open to helping people in and out of class. Hard course however, so be prepared to study and work hard. Lots of hw, lot of quizes, and difficult tests. But still, she's a great professor. Take her instead of others...Trust me!
Cares about her students. Tests are departmental so they are difficult, but her quizzes and homework are easy and help you greatly when test time comes. I recommend Prof. Baker.
Professor Baker is a great teacher! She really cares about helping her students. The class is a lot of work though and there's homework everyday. If you just study a ton from the book u should do fine on the tests! It is possible to get an A if you put it in a decent amount of effort.
Professor Baker is a fine accounting teacher and grades fairly. The problem I had was with the class structure. HW first & THEN a Powerpoint lecture on the material. This made lectures pretty useless to me. The online HW system is also terrible. I didnt have to take this class. So if you're like me and don't HAVE to take this class, DON'T TAKE IT!
Great Professor, professional and not overloading. Be prepared to put in the time/effort and study for tests. Don't miss class either. I got a B in the class and studied about 4 hours per test. Tests are difficult but straight forward.
Exceptional teacher, always enthusiastic and helpful. Gives a fair amount of homework, but only checks for completion not correctness. Tests are difficult, but not overbearing. This class will require you to work, but it is a very rewarding class.
Professor Baker is an excellent teacher, one who is glad to be teaching, and really puts forth an effort in preparedness, lectures, and welcomes questions. Multiple choice is very difficult on the tests and they are created by the department. She is definately there to help in anyway she can. Do all the homework, show up to class, and you will fine
I found the class material difficult. The tests are department created. DO the homework it turns into extra credit in the end. She is helpful and means well.
This teacher is the worst teacher ever.. if you have an emergency she wouldn't let you skip any exam or even a quiz.. she doesnt always understand what you're going through.. I used to like accounting, but after I took it with her, I hated it.. don't recommend her at all !!!
By far the best accounting professor on staff at UMD. If you have to take an upper level accounting class, take it with her. Not only is she extremely helpful, but she is also experienced in her field and knows what she is talking about. Best professor I have ever had at UMD.
This class was hard as hell but bearable... the exams; the multple choice was hard as hell but the problems were bearable.. DO THE HMWK even if its not graded. ... ITS HELPS ALOTTT!!!! Baker helps out alot and is very nice...
I hate this class and I hate this teacher. She trys to act nice but deep down you can tell she hates everyone.
look, its not that hard. show up to class and dont sleep. do all 5 or 6 quizes (really easy), turn in ALL manual homework on time even if its right or wrong just turn it in and get credit. do all wiley plus on time. exams you really gotta study for but if you do then its all paid off in the end.
I'm about to fail her class, but I still think she is one of the best professor at UMD. For all the whinnyers, what did you think this was, high school? You're in college so get on with the program and stop whinnying.
The exams are hard, but she has no control over that because the department makes them. a lot of hw but little probs if you do them you'll credit even if there wrong. you have to study for the exams, its not an easy a by any means. but shes a nice prof probably better than the others the class is going to be difficult no matter who you take it with
everybody who talks about this class like it's impossible is not very bright. An A is very atainable if you keep up with the class. Dont fall behind and do h/w and make sure that you understand it before you move on to the next h/w assaignment.
She is a great teacher. Lots of homework, but if you do all homework and come to class, it is not too hard to get an A. I would definitely recommend her. I wish more teachers were as prepared as she is.
She is a very good professor. She is very educated and will help with anything you need. Expect to work your backside off for this class, do not miss a day as you will be in trouble with the material. You have homework everyclass and a lot of it. If you work hard and do lots and lots of problems you will do good. Good Luck
One of the best teachers, she makes you learn, but is very fair. I wish I could have her for every class. Wonderful!
Professor Baker is the best accounting professor at our school. She is very knowledgable and helpful. There is a lot of h/w, but it is very helpful when it comes to the test. She allows a lot of EC which is VERY helpful at the end of the semester. I HIGHLY suggest this professor.
Accounting is hard no matter what but she is soo smart and a great professor! Multiple tests and quizzes to get points from. Tons of homework but it keeps you on top of everything!
great teacher. do the homework. show up with your laptop. its ok, she wont care. she is an awesome prof. do the homework, participate from time to time and you will do great in the class.
There is soo much work to do in this class. Homework, quizzes, the EXAMS are tough! But I must say, she is a wonderful teacher. The course is tough, so students have to put in a whole lot of work. Do your homework, even if it wrong, she will give you credit at the end of the semester. Great Prof!
The best teacher I have ever had!!!
Best professor I have had at this school! Take her! Do the work (its not that hard) and you will be just fine. She gives credit for effort, not correct answers, but explains everything!
Professor Baker is sooo nice:) She gives homework basically every day, but it isn't a lot per night. The subject can be difficult at points, but she is extremely helpful if you have any issues. I definitely recommend taking her for any class you can.
Hands down best professor at The UMD. Pajama day is the best!
This class really is not as bad as everyone says. Buy the study guide and do the problems in it and you will ace every test. Alot of extra credit is available so there is no reason not to get an A in this class.
Ms. Baker is very nice and knowledgeable, but unfortunately she talks for 75 minutes straight every class. Accounting is something you have to learn by doing, not by hearing. It would be nice if she gave students class time to do homework and learn for themselves. Nevertheless, she is a great professor with lots of real world experience.
This was one of the worst classes I ever had. Gave way too much hw, we had a large case and problems due every week. Also had a 15-30 page paper and presentation at the end. She graded hard on the hw and tests. The professor is very smart but the way she taught this class was terrible!
Professor Baker is a great educator. She pushes you beyond your limit. Many subjects can become quite confusing, but she is always ready to lend a helping hand. The office hours are convenient and if you can't make it, she will set up an appointment with you. Professor Baker is mostly accessible via email. She's great about getting back to you.
Prepare to work harder in this class than all of your other classes combined. If you put in the time (4-5 hours a week), then you'll do well. She is a great teacher, but definitely doesn't take it easy on you. Not an easy A at all, but you'll actually learn something for all that tuition you're paying.
She's a good teacher, however the class is setting you up for failure. Homework is set up in a more realistic businesslike setting, however the exams are all on paper. Exams should be on computer if all the work we do in the class is on computer.
Prof Baker is a great teacher. She really knows her stuff. Half of the hw is online which is really helpful and a great study tool. Tests are hard. Quizzes are hard. She is super helpful and knowledgeable. Study, really study, and you'll do fine
Very helpful and enthusiastic professor! She is knowledgeable about the subject matter and knows that it is difficult for her students. Gives a ton of homework and this class takes some real time and effort, but practice is the only way to learn the concepts.
horrible. speeds through class and gives you quizzes in the last ten minutes of class. you dont get to keep your exams. spend more time going over homework than learning new things.
Great professor that went above and beyond to ensure that students understood the material. This class gives a lot of homework, but it helps in the end and counts as extra credit.
Very enthusiastic professor who really knows her stuff. Teaches a hard class with hard tests and quizzes but if you study and do the homework it balances out. She will talk for the entire class period, every single period right to the last minute so prepare for that. She's very nice and really knows her accounting and can help you. Good professor!
She gives credit for completion of homework so if you get some wrong its ok. In class, she goes over every HW problem so you know how to do them correctly. For tests/quizzes, you must read the chapters, know the vocab, and know how to do the examples in the book and problems from HW. You will learn a lot, decent amount of effort required for an A.
She knows her stuff, not an easy A class. Millions of Homework assignments. Quizes some online and some in class.3 Exams are not too hard, but requires a lot of efforts. She sounds nice, but you can easly sense her negative energy toward her students. not recommended unless you really want your behand whiped.OR you are an accountant major.
the class was smooth until the last exam she below it..I have never seen an exam as hard is this one. she curved the hell out it. wayy soo mean, I got an A with a miracle. I have seen better professors who care about their students grades more than she does. take it if you are ready for the challange.
Susan Baker is an outstanding professor.I was really struggling in her class the first time so I had to retake it again in the summer and she helped me realize some things.I will now do much better in school than ever before and actually developed an appreciation for accounting.Thank you, professor! You are amazing! Take her!
She really knows her stuff and explains it clearly. Although attendance isn't mandatory, you'd be a fool to miss any class time. She expects more from you at this level, but she is fair. If you're having trouble, watch the WileyPLUS tutorials and practice similar problems from the ones she assigns.
One of the best professors at this university. Very few professors care about their students as much as her. She is willing to go out of her way to help you. A lot of homework in 298 but if you do it it will really help your grade.
Best Professor during my entire accounting program. Very knowledgeable and friendly. She knows accounting and will help you understand the material. Her tests are challenging but with lots of preparation, you can get an A. Overall, great professor.
I liked her. Not crazy about her teaching style, but she knows her stuff. In order to do well, it's a must to do the HW even though it's not turned in, as the tests are mostly based off of it. If you work HARD, you'll get an A.
Excellent prof. She explains things very well in a tough subject. She is very willing to help anyone who asks. She is fair and very knowledgeable. I would not want another prof for this class. I hope to take her again for accounting classes.
Pretty easy class. Just go over the slides and the practice problems ahead of time and you should be able to get an A.
Her exams are tough and kind of long but if you study and go to the review session the class before, you will be all set. She is really nice and helpful as long as you show up to class. If the class starts to not show up, she will give extra credit to the people that did show up on time. There is a lot of homework. 3 exams and a cumulative final.
Get ready to be doing at least 4-8 hours of assignments every week. I would not recommend her I don't know why she got such a high rating. I didn't learn or understand anything during the class. She does not teach the material well that why you have to spend so much time outside of class trying to learn it on your own.
Professor Baker is the best teacher in the whole accounting program. She makes you work and practice, which is what you need to do to learn accounting. If you practice enough before the tests, you'll do just fine.
I loved Professor Baker. She was extremely helpful, clear, and made me really enjoy accounting. She was also really friendly and I really enjoyed her class. I hope to take another one of her classes again.
Equity Accounting is probably the most difficult intermediate accounting course at UM-Dearborn. Prof Baker is the knowledgeable and best professor I've had in the accounting programs so far. She does a great job breaking down complex concepts into understandable material. The course takes serious amounts of hard work to do well in the course.
GREAT PROFESSOR! I learned a lot in her class & became very interested in accounting! Material was difficult but she taught it in a way that was easy to understand. A lot of homework but the homework is easy and really helps your understanding. I will take her for any Accounting class!
Prof Baker was really hard. The notes we took in class did not go along with the homework so you basically had to teach yourself everything. She barely took any time to review the homework the next day. You have no time to do homework for any other class because there's so much homework in this one. I don't know how she has such a high rating.
She hard, you must do all the homework before her class and hope you understand it because she speeds through it. Her exams are impossible and she doesn't curve. Stay away from her if you can!!!
This class has too much work for an intro class, as well as semi difficult material. Not extremely interesting but Professor Baker is really cool. Willing to help, sets you up for success, she just teaches a boring subject unless you are into accounting.
I took this class last Fall semester (Fall 2013). Prof. Baker was great, really helpful, and teaches this class with enough patience for her students. YOU MUST PUT EFFORT IN THO TO DO WELL ON HW AND EXAMS! I started off well because of an acc. class i took in high school. Get the book, understand it (read chapters slowly), and TRY! God Bless :)
She goes way too fast. I had to teach myself. I would just try to stay away from her at all costs because she is definitely overrated!!
Tough, TOUGH class, but she does the best she can to make it easier. Be prepared for a lot of work and frustration, but if you put in the work and pay attention to her in class you will do well
I love Professor Baker! She's brilliant and not pompous about it at all - one of the nicest professors I've had. Equity is a tough class, but she's good at explaining the concepts and happy to answer questions. Lots of homework, tough but reasonable exams, lots of opps for ex credit, decent grade curve. Be prepared to work a ton and learn a ton.
If you want to get something useful out of your class and not feel like you wasted your tuition, then definitely take her class. She's a good professor, always willing to help. Accounting is not an easy subject to learn and understand, no matter who teaches it. As with any other class or activity, it takes practice and dedication to be successful.
I had to work really hard for an B in this class, the tests are kinda hard but if you actually study and do the online homework(2 per week at least an hour or more) you can do really well. She is very clear and easy to understand and has her funny moments too sometimes.
Professor Baker was great!! She's very clear about what you must do to pass the class and she's great at teaching the material. Would definitely take again.
Professor Baker is a good teacher, but for an introductory class is a little difficult. She definitely knows her stuff. Her tests are well put together and she gives you a study guide before each test. She is very helpful and understanding! Awesome extra credit opportunities and helps big time with your final grade. Final Exam is killer.
Can't go wrong with her as your professor! Truly knows her stuff and cares about her students (and that's not found with a lot of professors). High expectations, tough material, but she is always willing to help. Meeting with her during office hours is extremely helpful, I highly recommend it! Overall, great professor and great lectures.
Work load for an intro class is INSANE, exams are HARD! Baker is a really nice person, but she is COLD HEARTED! She will smile in your face, joke with you, tell you everything is going to be fine then FAIL you. She takes her job waaaay to seriously. DO NOT take her if you're not an ACC Major. STAY AWAY FROM HERRRR, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! (GPA 3.4)
She was a good professor, I had never taken an accounting class before and am not an accounting or business major. Received an A in the class. I didn't show up for class a lot but I spent a lot of time reading the book which really worked in my favor. Seriously read the book! Tests are hard but not impossible, practice Orion before all the tests.
Doesn't seem like a lot of homework at first, but it can be overwhelming later on. Test are long and kind of hard. But she's a great professor! Super helpful and clear with her explanations. No book just wileyplus
She is not there for you whatsoever. Taking this class is taking the ACT all over again. She makes the class way more difficult than it should be. If you want to know the whole major in 3 months then take her and do the 100 assignments she gives you. If you want to spend 7-10 hours a week on this class and neglect all others this is your class.
The class is tough because of the material, but it's not bad if you take the time to practice and study. She has high expectations, but trust me because of that the material will be ingrained in your mind. Not an easy A, but a real learning experience. She's a good professor - well worth your tuition - and she will help if you speak up.
Not a very good professor.
Professor Baker is awesome. Her teaching style does help you learn the material but sometimes all the work is overwhelming. A lot of material to cover but if you start falling behind or have any questions shes great about meeting after and helping out. I would take her again but the work load makes me question it. In general though, I loved her.
I would not recommend for ACC356 !!! Lectures were based on assigned Homeworks! EXAMS were too long for given class time! It is doable but you need to spend a lot of time and effort to get a decent grade from this class.
One of the best professors at the College of Business. It is apparent that she loves teaching and helping her students reach their goals and full potentials. You will have to work hard for the "A" grade, but it is certainly doable and you will learn the material well because she makes sure of that by offering to assist you every step of the way.
Great professor! Always more than willing to help! Make sure to read and DO THE HOMEWORK! It will help out in the long run in more ways than 1
It was a great class but towards the end the work load increased
If you enjoy teaching yourself, this is the class for you. Insane amounts of homework, the exams are so much harder than they need to be, and the final will make you want to throw the packet across the room. The amount of homework becomes counterproductive at some point. And the lectures are boring as hell.
Wonderful professor!!! Had her for 298 and 299 and she makes the material very easy to understand. Reading the book before the lecture helps you understand the material. As someone who has lots of experience in the field she is more than willing to let you in on her knowledge. OVERALL amazing professor.
Honestly, just stay on top of the reading and assignments and you will get a good great in her class.
Very professional, organized and very knowledgeable and has a lot of experience in the field. Always willing to help out students. Made the material very easy to understand even though the textbook helped me more than her lectures did. Tests werent too bad but the MC questions can be confusing
Great teacher, tough material. Just make sure to practice on a daily basis and to read the chapters in detail. Easy class if you put in the work.
Homework for every lecture both online and written. She is extremely knowledgeable, therefore setting high expectations. Exams will are always harder than what you studied for, but she is always happy to help if you are confused. Go to her office hours, and she will help you succeed. You have to invest substantial time into this class to succeed.
Lots of homework, written and online, but not too difficult. Most lectures start off by going over the written homework and finish by going into a new section. While it can be a hard class, Baker is definitely one of the better teachers to take if you have to take accounting. She's really nice and will work with you outside of class if needed too.
Great professor! to do well on her exams, YOU MUST FOLLOW HER STUDY GUIDES TO THE T and practice those problems over and over again till you get it! Take advantage of extra credit opportunities when offered.
Professor Baker is by far the best professor I've had in the college of business. I absolutely loved her class and I learned so much. She knows how to teach the material well and is very welcoming if you have questions or need help. It may seem like a lot of homework, but it's not hard at all and really helps for the exams. Definitely recommend her
Prof. Baker is really experienced, clear, helpful, logical and caring. There is lots of homework but she grades reasonably, and she makes it very clear what she expects on the exams. She also willingly offers career advice and wants to help put you on a path to finish school. She is level-headed and has reasonable expectations of students.
She's a very nice professor. She's intelligent and gives good lectures, but you need to focus if you really want to pass. She is caring and understanding and is willing to meet during office hours for questions. A lot of homework is due. Homework online and in class are due everyday. Make sure you do not forget to take quizzes online
This class is a ton of work, so be prepared for that. Homework, both online and written, is due twice a week. Tests require a lot of studying to remember the monotonous ways of accounting, which is annoying but necessary. With a lot of time invested, an A isn't too hard to achieve.
Professor Baker is hands down one of the most caring professors at UMD. She really wants everyone to succeed but you also need to be willing to put the work in for a good grade. There is HW due every class but it necessary to do because it will help you learn and it is worth a lot of points. Exams were hard, but definitely possible to get an A.
Class was pretty easy. Just make sure you are clear with the concepts as well as how to do the written problems and you should be able to get an A on her tests.
Too much homework. You teach yourself everything and she skims over it the next lecture after you have to struggle to teach yourself the homework material. I would rather have a teacher who actually teaches. Only plus, manual hwk is graded on attempt, not if you get it right. If you're willing to dedicate all your time to a class then take her.
terrible teacher she makes you do homework before she teaches it, and gives horrible reviews for her 3 exams.
Oh man was she the worst! You had to teach yourself the entire class. She spent entire class periods going over the answers to the manual homework (not how to actually do it) and would use the last ten minutes to point at a powerpoint slide. She RARELY ever taught and he "reviews" had nothing to do with the exams. Avoid her at all costs!
The stretch continues of only having 1 useful professor during my 1st year at UMD. She wasnt one of them. We spent the entire class going over homework. Not how to do the homework. Just the answers. She doesnt teach. Reviews dont help. Had to curve her 2nd exam by 20% because the class average was about a 50. She has me reconsidering my major.
Do the home work and participate. Ask for more information about tests and you will get it.
Professor Baker is by far the best professor I've had at UM-Dearborn. She really cares about her students succeeding and is willing to help however she can. The homework assignments can be difficult but are helpful for exam preparation. This class isn't easy, but if you ask for help, you'll do fine.
Just like her ACC298, You spend most, if not all, of the class reviewing the homework you just did, which means you wont really learn how to do TODAY'S homework until you review it in the NEXT class. She uses real life examples and scenarios, but i think a class like this just needs logical, concise, relevant information.
This class does require you to teach yourself because there is a lot of material and she does not go over all of it thoroughly. The study guide she gives you correlates with the written part of her tests. Her multiple choice section is ridiculously hard, but do the extra credit and you should be fine.
I'm not understanding how she has a 4.2 on this site. Dont get me wrong, she is the sweetest women ever, but she teaches ACC358 as if it is an accounting class because that is her profession. I did NOT GO INTO ACC for a reason. I am seriously struggling and it doesnt matter how hard i try. She has office hours but they arent really useful
Professor Barker is one of the hardest teachers ever. She makes you do the homework then next class she goes over some parts of it which doesn't help. After every class you have a long written homework and WileyPlus homework too .Her exams are super hard. 3 Exams, 3 quizzes, and SUA. I wouldn't recommend her at all
Professor Baker is very nice and wants all of her students to succeed. There's a lot of homework but it's manageable and really helped me understand everything that we were learning. She offers lots of extra credit. I would definitely take a class with this professor again.
Professor Baker does teach this class differently than her fundamentals class. Due to the amount of content the class has, you will have to do a lot of self-learning. However, Professor Baker makes her class such that if you are able to understand the homework, the tests aren't that bad
I would wait for them to offer a new professor to take her, shes almost impossible for Acc356!! Tough grader, self taught, and too much material!!!
Her teaching methods or unorthodox. You have to read the book and do the homework given first, then the next class she lectures on that homework. It was initially tough at first, but you get used to it. 4 exams, and she dropped the lowest exam score. You definitely remember the material more when you're forced to do it on your own first.
3 exams, homework, project, which she grades very harshly which you will see if you take the class, ask her what the averages are for her exams, youll laugh (cry)
Honestly I would take other accounting classes until they offer a new 356 professor, she's awful!
Honestly, goodluck, ask about her exam averages
i have never had a professor that gives out this much homework ever before! her class was exhausting
I really enjoyed being in Dr. Baker's class. Yes, she gives lots of homework and yes the class is difficult, but that's to be expected. Put in the work, read the textbook, take good notes, do all the homework, and you should do fine. All tests are based on homework done online or in class. Very available and willing to help. Wants to see success.
She was the reason I dropped my accounting major. A lot of accounting and finance students have said the same. She spends the class going over the homework, and giving life examples. That's it. Everything else you need to learn on your own. You will need to teach yourself the materials, plain and simple. One of my least favorite teachers.
Worst teacher ever. All you do in class is go over the homework before she even explains the material. The class used to be 35 students but at the end there was only 16. This class is a tough class and a lot harder than it needs to be. She doesnt explain anything very well and assumes you remeber everything and will not go over it. Terrible.
She's a nice person. However, she is not a good professor at all. Spends the entire class time going over homework; she only lectures once in a blue moon and even that is hard to follow. You have to teach yourself everything. I would never take a class with this professor again.
She is super fast pace and does not slow down for anything. Gave partial credit on the tests but she is a super hard grader so it doesnt really matter unless its exactly letter for letter what she wants. Assigns a ridiculous amount of homework every single night. If someone else teaches it I definitely would recommend! Will never take her again!!
Great professor! She is tough, but fair. This class is hard is because accounting is complicated and she is just trying to prep you for more advanced accounting. I took the 7-week version and it was a little too fast for me. Studied 20 hours a week and only got a B+, but I was also working a lot. If that is you, I recommend taking in Fall/Winter.
Worst professor Ive had at UM Dearborn. She will never do any similar problems to quizzes and tests or even homework and manages to give quizzes every week in hopes we fail. I dont see why she is pushing us to fail more than pass
She is terrible
Lectures weren't helpful, learned more from the SI than the professor. Had to buy WileyPlus because that's where the pre-zoom and post-zoom assignments are, quizzes and exams were also on WileyPlus. Few quizzes were on Canvas and only had 15 minutes to format, solve and submit the assignment. Didn't let us discuss quizzes/exams during Zoom
The homework was time consuming. This class covers a lot. I felt the work load was significantly larger than most of my other classes. The video lectures are helpful. Study throughout the semester in preparation of a cumulative final exam. This class requires strong effort to do good unless accounting comes naturally to you.
Professor Baker is nice but her class is really hard. Most of what we learned was through wiley videos and I personally hated that. Tests were really hard, felt like there was not enough time.
Prof Baker teaches 298 as a flipped classroom now, utilising recorded zoom lectures. This means that class periods are group worksheets where you can ask questions. I find this format makes the content less dry, but YMMV. Tests are pretty hard, but she is lienient with minor errors. Plenty of extra credit oppertunities. Overall a strong class.
Not an easy class but the professor was very helpful. She replies to emails right away, always available after class to help you. Exams were hard but she curves a lot and gives lots of extra credit. Dont skip class because she gives a participation grade worth a lot of points and all you have to do is show up to class for that.
This is a very difficult class. Professor Baker is willing to work with you in order to do well. It is a very fast paced and would say it is more of an intermediate Accounting course. You will learn a lot! Show up for class and do the homework for a good participation grade she gives in the end.
Every week before class we had to watch lectures that could range from 1-2 hours long. She didn't rlly teach info in class, she just went over what we learned in the videos which may not work with some people. She is very nice, but her multiple-choice questions are over the top hard. Some of the most difficult questions ever, but she is not bad.
I took this course online but exams were in person. The homework was given every week along with quizzes. They were pretty easy. Both worth a lot and overall you should do them. The exams were the hardest thing Iv ever done. She wouldnt even lecture in class we had to watch her videos before hand and she would do examples during the zoom meeting.
Not an easy class but the professor was very helpful. She replies to emails right away and she is always available after class to help you. Exams were hard but she curves and offers a lot of extra credit opportunities. Ask questions and she will explain until she is sure that you understand. Great professor and class overall.
This has to be the worst professor in COB. She assigns hours of lecture videos outside of class then goes to class to talk about the Kardashians and focuses on things that arent even relevant. She doesnt answer emails. She has made up more excuses to why she hasnt done x, y, or z than anything else. Exams are way too difficult.
Do not take Susan Baker. This class is miserable. Must buy online Wiley textbook and IClicker for attendance.
Susan Baker is easily is the worst professor I have ever had. Aside from her awful exams, homework is worth only 1-5 points each week and can take hours to do. She never responds to emails, grades at a snail pace, and gives excuse after excuse on why grades haven't been updated in Canvas. Save yourself and DO NOT take her class. You will regret it.
Exams are not easy but she offers a lot of extra credit which makes up for it. Also gotta learn most of the material through recorded lectures. There are plenty of opportunities to get help with the material if it's confusing. In general, not bad at all.
Hard class but amazing professor. This class is very heavily dependent on tests. If you need you need to reach out. Work hard and look at ALL the material she gives you before class like you're supposed to and you will be fine. Beware the multiple choice sections of her tests, I found that reading the actual book will help you with those sections.
Chapter lectures are posted online and in-person classes prioritized hands on worksheets/group work to improve understanding of the lecture. Homework assignments are due before class on wileyplus. Prof. Baker creates an engaging classroom by requesting participation and walking you through the process. assign./lecture heavy.
I have taken this class 2 times because the first time around was too much for me. This time I've been really in it and you cannot miss a class or you will be chapters behind. She's been teaching for 20+ years so she goes very fast and can be overwhelming. She answers all questions and is helpful if you don't get something. She's very kind.
Horrible. Homework often took hours for a few points. Had to study 8-9 hours for each of the three exams and they were still crazy hard. The lectures were super fast-paced. She was often incredibly rude to her students. Made the class pay for an online textbook ($115) and Iclicker ($16, and was only used for polling questions and attendance).
The class was fast-paced and lecture-heavy. She packs a lot of material into one semester, expect to finish a chapter per class. Quizzes on every chapter once a week, as well as around 3-6 homework assignments each week. Professor Baker is very knowledgeable about accounting but can make students feel lesser for not understanding beginner concepts.
Very very nice professor. A little frantic and all over the place sometimes which made it hard to understand concepts. She knows the class is a little difficult so an A is 92% and she offers a LOT of extra credit. The SUA project was so annoying but if you ask her questions she will help (most people got 70/70).
Lots of homework and lots of material to cover. She's a really nice person though and gives out a ton of extra credit. Do the practice problems she posts before exams, they are literally the same as what will be on the exam but with different numbers.
Professor Baker is great. She manages to make the slides she reads interesting by connecting it to her prior work experience. She's super knowledgeable about what she's teaching. As long as you do all of the Wiley+ homework you will be prepared for the exams. There is also a ton of extra credit available throughout the semester. Take her!
lectures are very boring but if you focus and read over the text and slides that she provides in class, everything else is pretty simple. Exams are half multiple choice half written (balance sheets, written problems, journal entries). She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities for a grade curve at the end of the semester!
Trash, trust me.
horrible horrible horrible
As a person she's really nice, but as a teacher she isn't good to be honest. Goes over a crazy amount of information expecting us to memorize all of it. Exams are crazy hard. Grades slowly. She posts pre assignments on Wiley plus which are also not easy. All in all if you don't have to take this class don't and if you do good luck.
Professor Baker's class is challenging but rewarding. The lectures can be dense, but she provides helpful resources like practice problems. Unstuck AI and the textbook are great study aids to stay on top of the material.
Overall great professor and instructor but please do better with managing how much information your going over every class period and how you space it out. Wiley plus homework is a pain in the as**. I hate when professors rely on these for our homework and assignments. Study study study!
Class obviously requires a lot of work- it's college she's a great instructor. However, will drive you insane and not answer emails for days at a time which was crazy and literally stressed me out. Didn't like how class was paced.Overall dense course
professor baker was number two on my list for worst professors. The first is Kobelsky as he is the hardest and worst one of all. she makes you study for the exam and gives you an exam that wasn't like the review. Make sure you study the book and watch videos because she cannot teach at all and ready to learn half the material on your own.
She assigns many homework assignments that are worth a heavy section of the grade. She isn't easy to contact out of class. You could be bedridden, sick, and unable to get to campus, and she doesn't allow makeups for quizzes or exams even with a doctor's note. She doesn't explain concepts well, and most everyone in the class I took was confused.
This is not a professor you want to have. She is a great person don't get me wrong, but her classes are the definition of horrid. You have to memorize 3 chapters in 2 weeks, she takes FOREVER to respond to emails and relies on WileyPlus for homework. WileyPlus is just straight up awful to deal with. If you end up with her, good luck to you.
Most difficult college class I have taken so far. Professor is nice, but the course can be overwhelming at times and the material is very dense. Lots of chapters/concepts to memorize and you need to stay on top of things on a daily basis. IClicker attendance is part of the grade and you need to practice a lot for quizzes and exams.
don't get me wrong, the professor is nice. however, her lectures were boring, she would just drone on and on and a lot of the concepts could've been taught in a better way for students to understand. the assignments are worth very little points and the exams are so dense. you have to memorize a lot especially for the final exam, its ridiculous.
Worst professor I've ever had. She speeds through lectures with no time for questions and assumes we already know everything. Assigns tons of work with little context. Constant quizzes and tests with no review. Gave a huge SUA project mid-semester on topics we never covered. She dodges emails and claims she's busy. Overall horrible professor.
