Homework everyday and her tests are way too long you don't get enough time to answer every single one of her questions!!
she is a really good teacher
She picked on me in class (she called on me LOTS). To avoid this, ALWAYS bring your book and calculator (you HAVE to have the TI-83). She has an alright teaching style that is reinforced with the homework (you have at least an hour a night). Her tests are long, but have no surprises.

Very nice teacher but get ready to listen to a lot of lame jokes. Her class is easy just do the homework and you'll be fine. All her test questions come from the homework too. Id recomend her.
She is a really good teacher. She gives a lot of homework but the test are based off of the homework. She collects homework randomly so it kinda forces you to do it. She can be really helpful if you're having trouble with the work, but you have to ask. Overall i would definetly recommend her. Just be prepared to work hard.
Don't take her unless you are a math geek, and love to be punished! Nice person, good lectures, but has homework hang-up. She assigns alot and collects it every day! Her tests are very difficult, not enough time to complete.
This instructor should be teaching english classes because she made us write essays for homework.She does not allow shortcuts for essays she wants us to do the work the long way. Do not take her for math 23

Awesome teacher. i learned so much and she gave the whole class chocolate covered macadamia nuts when she went to hawaii. so take her, in the spring cuz thats when she mite be on vacation. awesome class.
this class is more like a calculator function memorization class than a regular math class. I found it confusing and there is a lot of homework which if you do not do you will probably fail miserably. I thought it was harder than the Calculus 190 class I took the semester before oddly enough.
She's an idiot...I was passing the class, but I guess I didn't do to good on my final, so she gave me a "D"! She makes the final worth 30% of your grade, and even if your getting an A, and you bomb the final, you will fail the entire class! And the final was the hardest test I have ever taken in my life!! :( Try another Stat. teacher. HW everday 2!

Hard to understand. Gave dittos and wanted to do things in group. Since when is math group work? She made things unclear and hard everyday; hard teacher and very lost. Wouldn't take her!
I found her lectures to be simple concepts that were really over saturated. It felt like she was just trying to fill the whole class period because the class concepts is basic algebra.She also had a tendency to belittle people at times as well, which I thought was disrespectful. Id learn better if I was taught, praticed and was quized every class.
OK, this teacher has us do these "math portfolios" why am I doing English crap in a math class; it takes about 3 hours to do correctly, IE waste of my time. The woman gets all frumpy if you ask her a question about something "that you should already know" well if I don’t know I’m going to ask. She is a crappy teacher; I would never take her again.
She was overall...a good teacher. She's sort of militant, so if you're lazy, you won't do well. I actually learned the material. She's always willing to help, but if you're annoying she'll cut you short. Good if you're in the class to really learn, bad if you want an easy A
This lame teacher belittled any student who asked a question that "WE SHOULD HAVE LEARNED THAT IN THE LAST CLASS!" Very bad teacher. Would not recomend ever!
The material is difficult, but the way it was presented was in a manner unacceptable to all human society. It was paced evtremely fast, and very difficult to stay on track. She stayed on simple subjects for weeks, but covered something that the entire class said they didn't understand in one class period. Absolutley would not recomend for any class
Honestly, this is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She makes you feel stupid if you do not understand something and embarrasses you in front of the class for it. Her quizzes/tests have nothing to do with her lectures. In short, avoid this teacher at all cost!!!
If I was able to take Mrs. Bickford for every math class that I needed, I would. She does what a teacher is suppose to do: she is there everyday, organized, knows what she's doing, and is willing to help you out as much as she can. If you are willing to take a class were you will learn something take her
Difficult to understand. Doesn't really explain much and teaches off the calculator rather than the concepts. Not a great teacher to take if you're trying to grasp things.

Mrs. Bickford is a really nice lady. She is a genius. Be prepared to work !! She is the hardest teacher I have ever had in my life !! She is also very fair and cares about her students. Great teacher-always willing to take the extra time to explain any question & she definitely knows her stuff! Very nice & has a sense of humor- I feel like i can learn more from her than just how to solve math problems.
She is a strict teacher, but when you need extra help she always makes time for you. She does put you on the spot sometimes but shes a very good teacher. She gives alot of quizzes & she did grade hw sometimes.
i hate math with a passion and she related it to everyday use and life. her tests and quizzes are straight forward and very honest. she cares about her students and is a great teacher, not an easy A, but a good class
Mrs. Bichford is a nice lady but she is very very difficult. I had her for Summer session and she made it hell. I told her that i needed to get at least a C in order to transfer.. She didnt give it to me. Because of that, I never got to transfer because that was my second time taking the course. She ruined my chances of going to college.
I took her for Math 73, she was really good. She is nosy and likes to put people on the spot but she taught well and showed students how to work out problems, especially if u go to office hours. I dont reccommend her for STATS tho. MY friend said she was really hard. Take Michael Zeitzew for STATS! He's amazing!
You can learn the material better from the book. She just confuses you. Don't bother taking her. Even if her class is the only class with room to add, I say wait till the semester after to take the course.
This professor went the extra mile for me. I had to miss several classes and she worked w me. I started off with a strong A and still finished with a C which was fair. If you are mature she will work with u. She does not take any BS though. Not for those with a weak foundation in math. This is a true college level stats class
Took her for stats, which isn't an easy subject, but she made it really easy. She's really helpful and is always willing to answer questions. There is a lot of work, especially the online stuff, but it's there for you to learn. Great teacher!
Helpful Class!Proffessor Bickford is absoluately a great teacher and really make her students(at least me~) to think~~ It requires more than attendance and normally hand in ur homework.Highly recommand to read text book before and after class~~If u have no time to do so, probably u should consider taking others classes.
i am still taking her class she is not too clear I am still confused. Get ready to do 10 hours homework at least every week, sometimes it takes more. I had better prof. than her I wish took someone else.. Good luck

Hard class, if u weak in math don't take this class. Very fast pace and lot of homeworks. if u not ready to work hard don't take her. She is very hard.

This class is not for students who want easy A. you actually have to try to do good if you suck at math. she gives exams that are similar with other examss and few retakes and she cares about her student learning smt from her class! great teacher:) i wanted to take her again but class full:( and waitlist too..
Bickford is a very friendly lady, she is always willing to help and answer questions. She moves through the sections very fast and there is a lot of homework but the assignments are all online and she gives you plenty of time to complete them. If you take good notes in class and show up everyday you will do fine.
She's very mean in the beginning to get rid of the slackers. She gets nicer in the middle of the semester. But she's very fast paced, she teaches like we're already masters of the subject. Gives TONS of work and test and quizzes. Is very highly critical. And will call you out in class. She's beyond strict. Be prepared to work hard in her class
She's a very straightforward teacher. She outlines her expectations of her students clearly. She is very helpful, as long as you're not afraid to ask for help. She helps you understand concepts, not just how to take the test. She's great, take her.
She's really caring and she wants everyone to understand and learn something from this class. This class is hard, you have to work hard to get B or A. But at the end it's worth it, because you do learn a lot.
You can tell she's been teaching for a while but her methods are horrible. She doesn't provide notes, a good amount of her students are failing the course and she isn't easy to approach. Attend class or you will fall behind. I regret that I am taking her course; should have waited til Spring Semester. She also doesn't know how to talk to people!
Bickford is very abusive she is not approachable & humiliates her students. She turned math into an English class she doesn't teach you anything YOU TEACH YOURSELF She's the worst El Camino has to offer. The comments below make her sound like a devil. A more accurate truth is that Bickford isn't easy because she has faith that her students can go beyond what they might have previously imagined. She has high standards. I still keep in touch with her and am glad I had her. If you aren't afraid of a little challenge then take Bickford
Prof. Bickford is remarkably intelligent and shows a keen sense of both faith and respect for her students. She is well-disciplined, professional and most importantly - teaches the source material excellently. If you're having trouble with math, I highly recommend Bickford.
The comments made me walk in to class fearing her but I keep up with the online hw and go to her office hours, you'll do fine. Definitely not an easy A or B for that matter but just go talk to her if you need help!! Also, SI really helps!
Terrible teaching methods. I feel like figuring her curriculum structure is more difficult than the subject material. Over relies on online methods for teaching and I swear I''ve gotten more handouts in the last 2 weeks from her than I have in my entire college careerlazy. Breezes through lectures leaving me scratching my head.
If I wanted to teach myself I would have enrolled in an online class. That's essentially the type of class she runs. Bickford is obviously highly intelligent as she has figured out that she can just lean on the online teaching crutch and put her classes on autopilot without having to to any real teaching. Kudos to that.
Avoid at all costs. Makes the class much harder than it needs to be. YOU teach yourself. Mildly abusive. 2 semesters ago I enrolled in her algebra class, saw what she was about, and dropped her class like a brick and found a teacher who actually teaches too much online stuff. Now I'm stuck with her because she was only stats class available
She's definitely a very straight forward teacher. She gives a fair amount of online homework and you have to do it in order to take the quizzes. If you attend class, pay attention, and do the homework, you WILL pass. She gives plenty of opportunities to redeem yourself if you screw up early in the semester. She definitely makes you work!
Her class does require hard work. I managed to get a B during the semester with an average test scores and she allows you to drop the lowest scored test. I ended up getting a C in the class for my final grade. If there is one thing I regret and wish I did would be going to SI for help or even her office. If you're worried about the exams, GO TO SI!
BICKFORD IS A REALLY HARD TEACHER GIVES A LOT OF HOMEWORK AND HER TESTS ARE REALLY HARD. SHE IS A TOUGH GRADER FEELS LIKE ENGLISH IN HER CLASS YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO EXPLAIN EVERYTHING AND CORRECTLY WRITTEN. DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO TEACH!
Ms. Bickford is a great women. She gets really upset when your late which is understandable. She gives a ton of homework but how are you suppose to learn if you don't do the work. All in all she is very easy to understand. I hated math until I met her she makes it so simple. Thank you for everything.
She is not clear on her tests grading system, always makes typos, annoying. Nosy. Thinks she is smartest. Thinks of herself as a highly intelligent person. Overall she is ok.
Avoid this professor if you have the chance. She assigns copious amounts of homework, and no review guides for exams. She gets angry when you don't understand the vocabulary terms that she uses, and refuses to describe the problem in another way. If you like math, you wont after taking her class.
I've never (and I mean never) taken Pre-Calculus or anything above this level before and while she does give a bit of online homework, as long as you aren't LAZY and DO THE HOMEWORK, she's a very great teacher! I love her to death! She isn't stale either she jokes a bit! Very helpful and intuitive. Sharp as a thumb tack! Made me LOVE math :) 9.510

Gave enormous amounts of homework both online and written - including 200+ additional review problems 1st wk. Stopped collecting written so she wouldn't have to grade it - were told to keep doing it anyway. Expected perfection. Something you don't understand? Figure it out yourself! This class made even a math major hate math. Avoid, if you can.
She doesnt even go over the lesson. She just tells you which chapter to do, and you are expected to read and complete the lessons yourself, without a single example to assist you. And the layout of her classroom wasnt really thought out. She puts the desks in groups of four so the 2 people who arent facing the chalkboard have to crane their necks
Instead of needing the AVERAGE 70% to pass the class. Ms. Bickford increased her passing score to a 72%. My final grade in the class was a 71.8% AND SHE DID NOT PASS ME. I did ALL of the homework, and never missed a day. And I still failed. I will forever hate this woman. She is so stern and comes off very rude.

She did not go over chapter work, she assigned work that had nothing to do with math. Your in a group the whole semester. She is very intelligent and knows math but does not know how to teach it. I dropped her course and will be retaking it with another professor; not because I couldn't pass her class, but because I was not being taught anything.
Don't even think about taking her class. She makes you write essay as if it an English class. what she teaches is not what going to be on the text or exams or the gate way, for the gateway text you need to get 9 out of 10 or 10 out of 10 to pass the gateway
Currently in her class and I hate it. She's making us write a paper and read stuff on psychology. Yeah, this is a math class but she's making us do all that. She isn't friendly either. I asked for help and she belittled me in front of the class. She wants class participation and will call people out to answer questions. Be prepared to do hw.
This class was difficult but you learn a lot. She makes sure you know the concepts. A lot of hw everynitepackets and book work and webassign. Super necessary to be organized. Study really hard and ask a ton of questions. She is always available for office hours. Don't slack off in the beginning. Tests are pretty difficult. Study everything u do.
I'm took Math 150 with her. Students are very insecure about their own understanding of the material. She spends an hour teaching how to use the formulas and 5 minutes on how to use the TI 83/84 calculator ( it should honestly be the other way around). Her tests are long and difficult. She's not organized. Too much happening and little learning.
This professor is difficult and I didnt plan to take this professors class but it was the only math class that fit with my schedule. She blends english into math and has you write essays about the article's quantitative data. She also grades hard on EVERYTHING. She's not a good teacher by any means.
I give professors the most respect, because they hold the keys of intelligence. With that being said Bickford is the worst teacher to teach math. I dropped her class because I was not learning anything. She does not go over chapter work, she assigns works that has nothing to do with math, and worst of all she is rude.
I honestly would not recommend this professor if you have no prior knowledge of statistics. She hands out a lot of handouts and does not make it clear if its homework or not. Apart from the homework she assigns in class, she also assigns hw online. She also is not clear when giving her lectures.
Pros: 1. Gives extra credit 2. Prepares you well for next course. 3. Is always available after class. 4. Teaches in a clear manner. Cons: 1. Lots of HW. Online and Hard copies 2. Too many exams, quizzes, gateways (Total 20) 3. So much work that cant work on HW for other classes. 4. Makes you write like if it was an English class. 5. very strict.
This math class really did change my aspect about math in a positive way! There is alot of work to do in her class but as long as you keep up and always attend class you are for sure going to pass. Always helps, no question about it and she loves doing what she does. Lets you retake and fix gateways until you get the full 10 points. RECOMMEND HER!
I have taken this professor twice. Do not even bother taking this class. She gives 4 quantitative essays, homework from the online text, online homework and worksheets. She also likes to act positive but will put down students in front of the entire class. If you work, or have lots of courses don't bother, the workload is useless and never ending.
Great professor completely changed my mindset towards math. I was someone who always dreaded math but Bickford, changed my outlook completely. I will be forever grateful to this wonderful professor who actually cares about her students and takes the time to make sure no one is left behind. This is college. You have to put in hard work to get good grades. I used to stay in her class during office hours to do my hw in case I needed help. She makes herself available to her students. She is a caring & dedicated professor. Her lectures are very clear. Take her! Work your butt off and you'll be well prepared for your next class. thebest!!!
Professor Bickford had definitely helped me with my knowledge in Math and is very accessible. However, she can be very rude which made it difficult to approach her at times. She gives out a lot of papers, but definitely prepares you for exam/quizzes. Wouldn't recommend her if you're not willing to stay on top of the workload.
So this class is a class you have to keep up in. I was falling behind and decided to go into her office hours. We were going over my test and she pointed out some errors I made. Shortly after, she decided to conclude that I should get checked for learning disabilities. So she called me retarted to my face. Awful professor. AVOID
I would not recommend this professor if you haven't had prior knowledge of stats. She gives too much homework, both online and bookwork. The tests are hard, there's no way around that. She gives way too many papers. And she barely goes over the lessons and really just expects you to know it yourself.

I wouldn't recommend to anybody to take this class with this professor. She is not clear about the homework schedule of the semester and gives a lot of extra homework that is not necessary. You'll have to teach yourself everything because she expects you to figure out all the questions you may have.
beware of projects, specifically "stat disk Projects, these will lower your grade if you don't do well. Besides assigning projects on top of homework she gives little to no explanation on them and grades them tough. At office hours she completely changes,however she is always about to leave. AVOID! if you are trying to learn and get a good grade.
Only take this professor if you want to fail! She expects students to teach themselves based on the book, overloads students with classwork and homework and expects everything to be turned in on time. She starts her lessons towards the end of class and continues it the next day instead of doing it all in one day. Needs to improve teaching methods.
Its a difficult class but I wouldnt say shes a difficult teacher. Shes willing to help if you ask questions, inside and outside of class time. A lot of homework but if you keep on top of it it isnt too overwhelming. Dont take this class if you arent willing to work for your grade.
Is a great professor and will help you out when you need questions to ask but beware of all the homework. Give out too much homework both book work and online. And gives out unnecessary paperwork. All the homework she gives out is overwhelming and you need to be on top of it in order to pass her exams and class
Does not explain things at all, does not allow 2nd chances. Her SI coach complains about helping us. Mock exams look nothing like the actual exam. Most people fail her class
Great class for self discipline and get you ready for future classes. Her class not only taught me about stats but also gave me more confidence in myself. She definitely cares about her students and I learned a lot from her. If you want an easy pass this is not the class for you. Be ready to put in some serious work.
If you see her on your schedule, please drop, this isn't a joke. She tries to help out by giving advice and moving the students forward, but instead of empowering them she leaves them feeling like they're unable to succeed. She puts unnecessary hurdles in the way, take my advice and drop asap. It is NOT worth your future!!! U can succeed elsewhere
Beware dont take. She gives off an illusion that she cares but she doesn't. I had dropped the class in the first two weeks of the semester for personal reasons. She wrote me an email and suggest I should return. I told her my concerns and she told me that she would work with me. I came back did all her assignments and she still fail me at the end.
She's a terrible teacher. Lecture and notes do not help with the homework at all. Can't even teach. No one should have to rethink their decisions in taking a class but if you take her you will have to. Drop while you still can!!
Mean, nothing lines up if youre lucky one vocabulary word is shared amongst the quizzes tests Homeworks and lectures. Will completely grind you down. Lots and lots and lots of homework tests and projects. Even during covid not one ounce of sympathy. Having heart troubles? Too bad! Ended up having to drop and hope I never encounter her again.
Feels more like a high school teacher than a college professor. Absolutely obscene amounts of homework, all of it graded. Harsh attendance and electronics policies. Requires students to turn in graded self-reflections, as well as graded weekly time-management calendars down to the very hour. Encourages students with jobs and other classes to drop.

When I first looked her up, I thought people were exaggerating about how hard the class was. She was the only teacher that would have fit my schedule. Listen to what others say about her. She might be sweet, but I did not like her class. Her class was horrible. Mock exams were nothing like real exams. Tons of homework. I didn't learn anything.
I took Susans class during the fall semester of 2020( covid-19), it was a bad experience. She gives loads of homework and tests/exams. Take this class if you want to be miserable and fail. She appears nice but dont let that fool you, because of her class I was sleep-deprived and felt miserable most days. Please look into other professors. cheers
The workload is Major and she doesn't specify when it comes to what exactly is needed for the assignment. when asked for help she takes a while to respond and will mark you late even when you explained the confusion.

I would definitely choose Professor Bickford again. I really loved being in her class. She is very understanding and cares about you passing the course or not. Yes she gives a lot of homework but it is very helpful.
This is College! She's not going to hold your hand! But by Gosh, is she so loving towards her students. If you reach out to her and tell her that you are struggling, she will help you! She is extremely helpful and kind. I wish people gave her more of a chance. It's not an easy A because Math 150 never is. Work WITH her, that is the key to passing
