VERY GOOD TEACHER, FUN, ENJOYS TEACHING, GREAT PERSONALITY
took this class during summer. she taught the class as if we should automitically understand the lessons. no study guides or powerpoint presentations & well be prepared to be confused.when she says study 2 hours a day she ain't joking!
Doesn't use the book at all, Tape recorder should be REQUIRED by any student who even has a hope of passing this class. Overall not a bad teacher, not one of the easier Bio teachers. Take a different prof if you have no interest in Bio
This lady is adorable and shows up in green pants. This class is def. on the harder side, but She's a great teacher. Even though she doesn't require reading the text book, do it and you'll do much better in the class. Taker her.
She is so freakin awesome. One of the last few greats around, as you will LEARN the material, as opposed to cramming for each test..difficult, yet rewarding..
Dr. Blizard made a great impression on me, at first. I took her general Biology in the summer and was amazed by her teaching abilities. However, after the first exam (which was ridiculously detailed and difficult) I lost faith in her. The lab was impossible. Chemistry should be a prerequisite for this class.
Scared at 1st, but stuck with it. If you study you will do fine. She will help you 24/7. Ended up with an A. She knows her stuff and gives you her entire semester lecture (outline) to print out and follow, reducing notes to take. Would definately take her again!
This is the one Biology class where I didn't need a tape recorder and still got an A. She explains and repeats the concepts so well that by the end of the semester - not only will you know what you learned...but you'll remember it!! I used the book to outline the concepts, but other than that I just relied on the lecture. Best part of all, she's just really down to earth. Never found myself bored.

it is hard i droped the class because i have a 4.0 and the class was going to kill my gpa dont take her class it is really hard i got a's in my high school science classes and i wrote so many notes and read so much and i still failed the first test it was the hardest class ever
Tough class! But, you actually LEARN the stuff if you do nothing but study. She will help you 24/7. She wants you to succeed but won't give it to you-have to earn it. Labs have lots of hands-on reinforcement of material. Great personality. This is no BASIC biology compared to others, but you'll learn the material - great foundation for future.
Very challenging! The class got smaller and smaller each week. I got a C and that was one of the highest grades in the calss. All though it was very hard, I think it is a good indicator of what is to come in BIO 223, 224 and 251. Dr. Blizzard was very helpful and tried to make it as clear as possible, although she did move a little fast through the course content.
Tough, fair, fun, no exceptions made, always willing to help, best teacher I've ever had! You want to learn, she WILL guide you. Don't take this course from her if YOU'RE not motivated.
She was incredibly hard, and seemed to take joy in people dropping her class.
Great teacher. But very hard tests.
Although its only the first week, I must say this professor is so nice and makes the class fun. I heard she is very hard but I think all biol classes are extremely hard. I will try my best and hope to pass, but it helps to have such a great person to teach it!
she gives very hard tests. No extra credit. Her tests are so hard. She needs to be little easy with her teaching. I would not recommend anyone to take her class. She is the kind of teacher that makes you want to quit school. I'm still gonna take bio 189 but not with her.
She is not demanding, the class curriculum is. She has a way of explaining the material that really makes sense. If you simply attend class, pay attention, and study (yes, you really do need to study the 3 hours at home per hour in class) then It shouldn't be to bad for you. I have an A, because I've earned it.
Very hard class! Must study and record class cause you will not be able to keep up otherwise. 4 Mult choice tests and a final. Quiz's everyday in lab. Nice lady but not very good at slow pace explaining. Assumes you know stuff that most do not. But she is always available to help you. Very nice professor!
Be prepared to devote ALL your time to this course! VERY by the book, no curve here. If you are really close to the next higher grade, she will not give you it. After all you devoted to studying. No points for perfect attendance. Nothing for your effort. Why are all CCSN science teachers so strict? Its such a hard course and then they do not give y
Sue is a very good professor. The class is very hard. A lot of material to learn. Average grade for those that make it through is a C. Most of the people who got A's and B's took the class before at some time or another or the took a simular class in another college. Recommend taking this class by itself.
gives good explanations of stuff being teached
Good teacher, but tough. You MUST spend time on the material on your own, because she gives no homework assignments. It's all up to you. She's very willing to help you if you come to her for help. Grade is based on 4 exams and the final, that's it.
DANG! She is sooo friggin hard! I really like that she sticks to her class outline, but this is by far the hardest CCSN class I've taken (and that's a LOT). Do yourself a favor and stay way from Blizard and Lieberman!
this teacher make you so depressed and make you wanna not study anymore. her tests are so hard no extra credit or homework she lectures and that's it don't take her class and waste your money. she's a scary teacher
VERY HARD! STAY AWAY!!! SCARY!! NO STUDY GUIDES!!! You must know all material so be ready to study because thats all I ever do since I started her class!!
This class is hard enough alone, but when you add an instructor that is hard to follow, it makes it that much harder. She is a nice lady, but her teaching skills do not apply to all types of learning styles. It is hard to soak up a lot of things that are covered. You must read your book and know every detail! You will have your work cut out for you
I went ready to learn and was so focused. She makes it utterly impossible to pass her class! All of her tests are application questions just applying to her lectures. Your notes don't help. Stay away from her class or you will be repeating it again and your semester will be wasted. You study your butt off and are rewarded with failure.
I had Dr. Blizard last Fall along with 3 other classes and received an A+ (yes that was the 1st time I took 189, it was my first science in 13 years). Lots studying but she is always available to help anyone who is willing to take the time to ask her. Helpful hints; find a study group, record the lectures, take your time on exams, and ask for help!
If you are interested in taking Biology 2 or 3 times...you have found your professor! She is extremely hard, and extremely arrogant. There is no question that she loves Biology, but she teaches as though we are going to be Biology majors. She does not curve her tests at all...never! Her lab quizzes are extremely difficult...almost impossible to g
If you plan on doing nothing except teaching yourself Bio then take her. I got nothing from going to her for help. She talks in circles and makes you feel inadequate. I have a great gpa and this class really made me work to keep it up. She is difficult all across the board!
Well..what can be said. She really does not phrase her questions well on her tests. She is inconsiderate of different learning styles and EACH TIME I have taken her have found that she gives her lectures the same exact way. She will get on her knees and beg you to come to her for help. Doesn't work ..she talks to you like your a dog.
I can't believe how many people are whinning about this class. Dr. Blizard is a good teacher--it's the material that's hard. It's supposed to be hard. Welcome to college people! Study her outlines and you'll do fine.
I took this class Spring 2007, it was difficult, but then again I love Biology. I got a B in this class. But I studied about 4 hours a day, 5 days a week. You have to be really into this class to pass. My class had 45 people in it in the start, in the end there was 10. Study about 4 hours a day, ask for help, you will be fine like me.
Her Teaching is useless she sticks to her outlines which don't even really help on tests its rediculus if you plan on taking a Bio 189 class please do not take her when the class started it was completely full and only ended up with 12 people left i have no idea what advice to tell you in order to pass her class.
If you take her class make sure you have a different lab teacher because you will need a good grade in lab to hava a decent overall grade. I studied like I never have before and squeaked by with mostly C's on her lecture tests.
she gets on her knees saying that if you need help to go to her, but she wont help you at all. her bio189 class is extremly hard. she is no help. i can honestly say i hate this teacher with a passion along with half of this class
Dr. Blizard is an extremely accelerated professor, but she makes the class material relevant and interesting! She is always giving useful examples to apply to the lecture. I will say, I spend an average of 21 to 27 hours a week studying between her lecture and lab material, so be prepared for that.
She is not try to help students, A bad teacher !!
Professor Blizard is extemely intelligent but very condenscending to students. Tests impossible - do not pertain to what is covered in lecture. It seems she enjoys people dropping her class - HUGE ego that is what she thrives on when we are there to learn from her - not feel stupid. Stay away from Blizard & find a teacher that is helpful!
I hate professor Blizzard for 189 last semester and even though she is tough everything she is doing for you is preparing you for 223 trust me. You need all the knowlege or you will fail the first test in 223. If you put forth the effort and try your hardest you will pass..I did! She is a wonderful teacher.
when u go to lecture it will feel like u understand everything, but when u take the test its all in words that she has never used in class before...everything is reworded from what you learned..
She makes things alot harder than they need to be. Not explaining anything. She has all the assignments online and expects us to know how do to them with no in class explanation. Waist of your money! Take someone who will actually teach you during class. Thats what were paying for.
The material is extremely hard, but if you attend all classes and STUDY it is possible to pass with a good grade. The tests are not as hard as everyone makes it seem, ALL of the questions come directly from lecture. Listen, take good notes, and study- you don't even have to read the book. I like her- she was fair and prompt with our grades.
HELPFUL-BUT SCARY!!!
Great Teacher!! The class is hard but she does her best to explain everything. She gives out great out lines of every lecture!! Read the book and use the CD's that came with it!! Expect to study at least 2-3 hours a night!! GOOD LUCK!!
Sue is an amazing teacher! She is extremely knowledgeable and concise with her explanations! I love how she always starts the day off with a cartoon pertaining to biology. The class is NOT easy though. Be prepared to study out of the side-book (Chemistry for Biology students), textbook, and lecture notes. Study hard and ask questions!
I am rating her way AFTER the fact. BIO 189 is a difficult class and Sue got a bad rap. I am better off now just because I took her and she made me EARN my grade. Just ask questions and she will answer!
don't get me wrong she seems to know her stuff but....she's not here for the students....she gets this evil but Happy look on her face when people drop!!! it's like she enjoys seeing you fail....I wouldn't recommend her to my worst enemy
to be honest, she's very intelligent in bio-and bio only. not too bright in chem at all. she enjoys people failing and is out to give you a C. i dont think anybody earns an A in her class. everyone i know that has taken her for a teacher has either dropped it, and taken it again- or got a horrible grade. i wouldnt recommend her, she makes it harder
She is extremely hard, but you're in college. This isn't high school. Expect to study a lot. If you have questions, you NEED to see her during office hours. She is extremely helpful, but YOU have to go to her. Though others may think so, it's not impossible to get an A. I did, but you have to work really hard for it. Welcome to college.
This teacher is extremely hard! You must read the book, every chapter to understand her lectures! Her tests are nothing like her lectures... she tries to trick you alot! You must know every chapter like you are a bio-chemist! Be prepared!
She is very hard!
The instructor was always there during office hours to answer or explain any questions. I found it very helpful that the instructor responses to e-mailed questions in a timely matter. Bio 189 is a difficult course and it doesn?t matter who you?re your instructor is expect to study 15-20 hours a week if you want to pass.
She is passionate about biology and explains concepts well. She genuinely wants her students to pass and is available for *free one on one tutoring* during all office hours! She *gives you the notes* for all her lectures, and all test questions are from these notes. I hardly used the book and still got an A, by *studying for tests from the notes*.
READ THIS!! Sue is a VERY hard teacher. Her exams are nothing about her lectures or the book. She words things very different on her exams and its almost like they are "trick Questions". I was strugging very bad in her class and went to her for help and he advice was to just drop the class.I was very dissapointed. DONT NOT TAKE HER SERIOULSY!!
Lots of people don't like how she teaches. I thought she was a great teacher. Her lecture notes are great! However, her tests are VERY difficult. If you think you're comfortable with the material - study MORE! :o) I felt very prepared for H&P after taking her class!
She way over teaches. I spent so much time trying to memorize meaningless things that I was not at all prepared for 224. Seh should focus more on preparing for the next class raher than boosting her ego by weeding people out. Not Recommended!
I have never studied so hard for so long to end up with a C. There were 45 people on the first day and at the final I was 1 of 8 remaining. She makes jokes about parking getting better b/c everyday the class gets smaller. A perfect way to blow your GPA with a C. I STILL feel like I'm behind in simple concepts cause she teaches above & beyond 189.
It doesn't matter who your tearchers are... it is really up to you if you want to succeed. Anyone can do it. Yes, she's tough, but she's there if you have questions. So ASK. Good Luck!
S T U D Y
I went to class EVERY Single day and am getting a really good grade in her had BUT I am getting a D in the class. This is a super hard class.. her tests are ridiculous. All i do is study and haven't been able to get better than a D on her tests and I am good at science. She makes you HATE biology. Her tests are nothing like her notes. Dont take her!
Sue is an GREAT teacher! I loved the way that she was approachable and tried her hardest to get students motivated about Biology. The coursework is hard - she's preparing kids to be nurses and doctors..i mean how could it not be? Its possible to get an A with 70-80% on all exams. I did. No lecture notes - so GO TO CLASS!
As you can see from all the ratings people either love her or hate her. I must say that she really is a sweet woman and I really enjoy her lectures, but I agree about the tests just not making any sense. I study, study, and study yet when it comes test time I have no idea what I am reading. She rewords things to make you have to think.
She is GREAT!!!! Lectures are interesting and she has examples to help you understand. BUT..BUT...BUT the test are hard. Studied like mad weeks befor upto test and still did bad. I have no problem in my other classes but hers will make you jump off the Trump Tower. Great professor but the tests BEWARE!!!! Don't kill your GPA over this class.
Hard!! if youre planning on taking this class you better plan on studying!! she tests off of her lectures. it would be a good idea to buy a recorder for the class.
if you go to class every day, attend lab, and study, you'll be just fine. i don't understand why everyone says her lectures don't match her notes. i thought they were extremely helpful. if you are going to be taking more bio classes, i recommend taking 189 with blizard to have a solid foundation for future classes.
This class is for science majors and you get what you should expect. The class is hard and she does test off her lectures, BUT the final is so easy if you actually studied throughout the semester. The final is straight up memorization whereas the four tests during the semester are more application based. Take Sue if you want to understand biology.
She is a good teacher and she does her best to make diffcult subject matter easy to understand. She is very helpful to and will make sure you understadn before moving on. She using different methods of teachering to drive home concepts. Would take again.
very nice lady loves biology but does pride herself on bieng hard over 80 percent of the class dropped dont fall behind or you will never catch up
Went to her 3 weeks into class and explained I was lost and needed help. I was told to study harder, but she wouldn't help me or even guide me in the right direction. She just kept bragging that the class is hard and the majority of the class would withdraw. If you haven't had a biology class in a while, this is NOT the professor to take.
you have to be able to give yourself enough time to study for this class or else you wont pass. her test are based on her notes that you have to have printed before coming to class.
her test are based on the notes that you have to print before coming to class. she does not give any extra credit. the grade is based on four exams and the lab. lab helps out enormously. with dedication and hard work you will do great.
This is my second review. I had her for 095 and now for 189. Go to class, take notes, study the notes, record lecure, listen to recording, read book, watch youtube clips. Take class alone,do well in lab, study, study study and you may get a C. Then retake the class and do it all again and hope for a better grade.. Yes, she is that hard..
I would recommend anyone that wants to succeed in later Bio classes take this excellent prof! This class is difficult, and yes you will need to study. Record her lectures and use note cards and you'll be just fine. I recommend having her for lab too. My classmates that didn't, regretted it!
I think Dr. Blizard is great. I was hesistant to take her because of previous reviews but I'm glad I did. She is not hard, the material is. RECORD the lectures, show up to class and study. If you think her tests are hard you probably never understood the material to begin with.
She say's 65% of you will not pass and she was right!
lazy and doesn't want you to pass. shes a jerk.
This is a great biology Professor fot those that really want to learn. No matter how smart you are you MUST have the self motivation to study hard. Passing is a challenge for most. It was the most challenging A that I've earned. However, with many biology classes ahead of me, I was glad to have chosen her to establish a solid foundation.
She is a very tough teacher. Wants the best from her students, but I wouldn't recommend her if you are a full time student. This class would be best taken by itself or only with another class. SHe is very tough. Absoulutely want to bring tape recorder and book you will need it!!!!!! She is the head of the biology dept so good luck work hard study
Excellent teacher. You must STUDY STUDY STUDY. You can pass this class if you work at it. For those of you who want an easy A its best to go to NSC. But if you do don't try to take any BIO or CHEM anywhere else because you won't have a sufficient enough knowledge from NSC to pass!
Its a very hard class if you dont have the time to study dont take it. Shes a good teacher. All you have to do is study and you will be alright. I withdrew but im trying again next semester.
This class is HARD! Don't take it with a full load of other hard classes! I took it with precalc and that was a BIG mistake. She is very knowledgeable and willing to help you grasp the material but you have to STUDY!! I probably studied about 1-2 hrs a day and I still got a D. I will probably retake it with her and not take any other classes!
Great professor! Very clear. If you fail its cause you didn't study. Must attend class, miss one lecture and you're lost at least for that section. Tests are pretty straight forward. She has quizzes once a week and you don't know what day. Definitely recommend!
She's a hard teacher in the beginning but loosens up a bit after she weeds out the students who aren't serious. You must study and attend every class! She gives excellent outlines!
Dr. Blizard seems to pride herself on the fact that most students fail her class. In my opinion, if your students are failing and not comprehending the material then you are not such a good instructor! Most students appear intimidated to ask questions because Dr. Blizard doesn't appear to enjoy being interrupted.
Dr. Blizard is an excellent professor. Her class is difficult, not because of her, but because the material is difficult. The exams are MC/TF with no trick questions. Don't listen to those that say she prides herself on failing students, come to class, study, Study and STUDY! and you will be fine. Bio 189 was the most difficult B I have ever earned
Dr. Blizard if the best professor I have ever had!!! Most people don't do good because her class is hard! But she is so helpful! Always says to come to her office, and goes over things in class until everyone gets it! All exams are straight from lecture, and if a question wasn't covered she gives you the point. Great professor!!
I took Blizard twice! First time I got a D. Second time a B! STUDY! I cannot tell you how important it is. Now that I have completed Bio 223/4 and 251- looking back 189 with Blizard seems easy. If you can't make it in 189, you won't make it in the rest of the classes for nursing. It only gets harder! Good luck!
There is a particular method of getting through this class, if you do not figure it out you will not get through.
Dr. Blizard is a great teacher. She is not difficult, it is the material that is difficult. She is very kind and funny, but people who fail like to blame it on her. Take her if you really want to be prepared for future classes.
Dr. Blizard is a good professor, she has an open door policy and is willing to help. However the class is hard and you do need to study a lot! The tests are from lecture but supplement your learning with the extra materials she provides via Angel, and your text book.
Professor Blizzard is a great teacher.Anyone that thinks she is difficult simply lacks college experience.I can tell you from taking other science classes, that she was by far the best I have ever had.She is very straight forward about what is on the exam.Other than some diagrams you don't need to read the book.GO TO CLASS and you will do great!
The best professor I have ever had. She is very helpful and her passion for Bio is contagious.
Blizzard is an awesome teacher. Although the class is hard, its biology so duh. She couldn't be more clear and she allows for ample questions. Her tests, although hard, are very straight forward and she lectures on everything, with note outlines online. I would recommend her class above any other to anybody who understands the college work ethic.
And in response to people saying she enjoys failing, she just enjoys watching people not try on a single quiz, fail the test, and then drop the class. Also, she has a break in her lecture about every 10-15 min, allowing for plenty of questions. Believe me, I ask several a day.
It was a tough class, not because of the intructor, but the material. If you read the textbook twice before coming to class, you will pass with a least B-.
She is smart and knows what she is talking about, but is so concerned with getting through everything she wants to talk about that she rushes through lot of subjects quickly. (6 pages of notes the Monday before the final) You can earn a good grade but expect to work hard for it and with any luck you will get a B.
She is a wonderful teacher. She explains everything, and makes it so clear to you. She helps you so much, by offering things other professors won't (Outlines, etc.). The course is hard, not the teacher. She wants you to succeed, and is even funny at times. Lastly, record her lectures. Then listen to them at home, and take notes again. It will work.
Tests are from lecture which makes it a little difficult sometimes. Nice person though.
Nice teacher not intimidating like others. Offers outlines which is wonderful! Test points r on the outline helps to pinpoint what to study. Test 2 is the hardest Her lectures were not boring and is always available to answer questions she always answers her email very quickly. Make sure to attend class for pop quizzes. All those points add up
This class is a hard class since there is so much to be covered in such a little time. I love Sue, she is very helpful, if you ask quesitons. Offers helpful outlines which if you spend the recommended time studying every week you will be fine. Be aware Exam 2 is the hardest one. Attendance is needed to pass her class along with a good LAB grade.
Terrible teacher. She is a smart lady, but is more concerned with rushing through the material rather than teaching it. Exam two is the most difficult, but not because the material is impossible to learn. This professor does not allow enough time to finish the exam. Be warned!
She is an amazing professor who knows what she is teaching. Loves biology and is always willing to help.
She is the most worst teacher I ever had. She does not help with the lecture and does not help much for the test. No study guide nothing you are mot on your own. She said she is the best teacher, but half or more of her class faith and have to take it again. So please think twice before take her class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER IF THIS ISS JUST A PRE-REQ CLASS! THE MATERIAL IS ALREADY CONFUSSING SHE JUST MAKES IT HARDER.shes good if your a bio major & will move on to more classes but if not do not take her. she doesnt give study guides she just gives you all & says study! not good at teaching a basic class
Just take my advice. Do Not Take Her. She is not helpful at all and she thinks she knows everything. I don't know who's been bragging that she is a good teacher but if what she tests is not something you can just study from the book besides her notes which is incomprehensible, then she is not setting a good foundation for study to get ahead.
This is one person you should not take in your first biology class. She goes over the material in her own ways and gets you more confused than what it really is. I don't even know why they would let her teach when she really does enjoy failing people. She really makes things complicating and the test even more complicating.
The first time I took her I got a D and withdrew. The second time was during an eight week summer course. Got an A. Transcribed lecture and studied EVERY day. Excellent professor if you pay attention and study. Tell you EVERYTHING you need to know.
She is hard, her test are hard. She is crystal clear on what you need to know and when you need to know it. This is not a memorization class, it involves conceptual understanding of the material. Her test will make you smell smoke....but if you can handle this class, you can handle any. She is a good teacher....just hard.
Tape her lectures. Print out all lecture notes and go over during lecture, she refers to book for diagrams and to get system concepts. Must go to class! she was always available to go over quizzes or questions. She is very knowledgeable and I actually learned some things!
I thought she was a great teacher. She gives you outlines and as long as you take notes, study and attend class you should do good. Her test are hard but I learnd alot! I definitly recommend taking her for biol 189.
This is not a professor you want for an into to biology class. Even my guidance counselor wasn't a fan of this teacher. You can show up everyday, listen and take notes, read the chapters three times for the test and still fail, she makes the test as ridiculously hard as possible to understand. Save yourself the trouble and pick another professor.
Dr. Blizard was tough but fair. Go through the text material PRIOR to class, listen to the lecture (while recording it too) and do not miss a class! After each test grade is given, you may stop by her office and go over the answers you missed (I was the only one in my class that did this!) If you approach college w/ maturity, you'll do fine w/ her.
After just completing my first semester in CSN's nursing program I'd like to add that I wish it were as easy as Blizzard's 189 class. Learn to use critical thinking when you're taking tests now because it won't go away or get any easier. You HAVE to learn this material. It comes up over and over again in nursing. She's only trying to prepare you.
I have been a nurse for a few years now and the class is relevant to the career field but not in the degree that she teaches it, I can?t count the number of times she went on and on and then says but that won?t be on the test? we only have so much class time and as a paying student I would appreciate it if my time and money were well spent.
90% of her test material is taken from her lecture notes which are posted on Angel. Pay attention to detail, or you won't pass your exams. 4 Exams all semester. Some of the material on exams isn't covered in class. Tough luck. She won't lower her standards, so if you don't like studying hard, take another class.
She is a pretty good teacher and she cares. Her tests are ultra hard and you must pay attention to details in the outlines. She sneaks the little stuff you dont think will be on the test into the exams. She will help you if you ask. This class is very hard and if you are not committed to it you will not get your C or better that you need.
I can not believe the ratings on her. She was teaching the hardest class and she did a damn good job. She uses examples and she does everything possible to help you pass. I thought she was wonderful!!! If you pay attention and study and put the time and effort in, you will pass. Its boring material but she somehow makes it interesting. Loved her!
OK, the class material is hard no matter how you look at it. Bilzard does try to explain it the best she can in such a short amount of time the course allows. There is just so much to learn its ridiculous. This class is HARD AS HELL. The questions are one her test are VERY HARD. I think people would do better if she had a true study guide.
The material is just plain HARD!!She's available before and after classes and through email,so ASK QUESTION when you don't understand..RECORD lectures, study hard with her outlines and you will do good on her exams. The questions are from the understanding of the outlines. DID I mention STUDY HARD to earn an A.
She is one of the best teachers I've had. She is very organized and comes to class prepared. She gives you outlines so you can follow along in lecture. She gives 5-6 question quizzes throughout the semester, which help boost your grade! 4 exams 1 final! She's really helpful & is patient! The material is tough, but I wouldn't take anyone else!
Record her lectures, go to every class, study. That's all there is to it. She is very knowlegable and friendly. It's the hardest class I've ever taken because there's so much and she doesn't specify what's on the test so you have to know EVERYTHING, but she's great. If you're really gonna take this hard course, take her.
hard but its worth it.
Professor Blizard couldn't be more clear about what you need to do to pass this class. She will explain concepts, over and over, in different ways to meet all learning styles. If you don't put in the time to study don't blame her. Study outline, record the class, and realize that your social life is over until you get your grade.
Dr. Blizzard was very straight forward and clear. The subject material is difficult but study hard ever day and you'll do fine. She'sa lovely professor who realy wants everyone to do well. Tough class.
Currently taking her for summer! She is hard but I love the way she teaches! I know this one girl that thought she had this and has gotten worse grades than me lol. RECORD LECTURES. AND STUDY OUTLINES! She is sooo organized I love it! :)
This is an amazing teacher, very hard class, but if you have the time to study you will do fine. Tape all lectures and study the outlines. the tests are critical thinking tests, as she says in the health field you will always have more then one symptom to treat.
Sue expects A LOT but you will be equipped with every bit of knowledge you need for following courses. Tests are difficult and involve critical thinking but it is a college course :) You MUST attend each lecture, follow outlines, and record them! You have to be prepared to study, study, study!!! She's tough but you'll learn so much!
Man oh man! This professor is HARD! I love her way of teaching though! The thing I dont like is that when I have x amount of time to take a test, I try to breeze through and its hard because a lot of the questions on her tests will get you, and they will get you GOOD! Youll think u knew the answer but itll be wrong.
Sue is by far one of the best Biology professors at CSN. She is tough, her exams will really force you to critically think, but she cares and it shows. Be sure to print every outline before attending class and record her lectures. I'd recommend her to any first year Biology students.
By the far the best professor i've ever had. She's tough but as long as you study and know the materials you'll do great.
This is a very hard class. I have never had problems in school, and am failing this at the moment. She seems nice. The material/ her way of teaching may be hard for some.
Dr. Blizard was an amazing teacher. Biology classes are never easy and it only gets harder later down the road. Dr. Blizard does an amazing job with this class and it also prepares you for biol 223 and beyond. The biggest advice I can give new students is to record the lectures and relisten to them it helps a ton, youll will need it for 223+ as wel
Dr. Blizard is a great teacher BUT by far this is a tough class. Please record her lectures and relisten to them. Get as much help as possible. Dr. Blizard has office hours and There is tutoring sessions. No book needed and print her lecture notes, go over them before class and if you dont get it, GET HELP! Do not miss a class either.
The worse class ever. The teacher is great but I did not like her way of teaching. I felt lost in her lectures and I could not grasp the information. If your a full time student or have a full time job forget about this class because you must be fully dedicated to this course. It is a tough class and she has a 20% pass rate. Good luck new students!
Dr. Blizard is awesome. She loves Biology and is teaching to teach, not as a job. It is a hard class, but only because she wants you to understand the material. Sad that she is retiring.
Utilize the lecture outlines provided on angel to help you understand the lecture, she tends to rant and jump around when lecturing. A lot of students this semester are just reading the book instead of listening to the lecture because its all in order.
She is very clear, organized, and teaches to teach
Sue is an awesome teacher, she has a passion for biology and explains hard topics well. My advice for passing this class with a good grade is to follow her lectures closely and make use of the animations provided on angel. Tests come straight from the in class notes, so dont miss a single class. Sue is good, put in study time and you will do fine.
This was 1 of the 5 classes I took last semester with a full time and a 1 yr old and newborn at home. I earned and was given a B. I highly recommend this class to prepare for 224. She requires you learn more than most professors but you'll be better off for it.
I absolutely love this teacher, she is very hard and has high standards but she really encourages her students to ask questions so don't be afraid to feel vulnerable in front of everyone and ask a question because she will be more happy you did than didn't. You definitely should record her lectures otherwise you'll have a hard time. Great class.
she is very nice and will answer any questions you have but she is very makes her exams really tricky. she gives outlines but nothing on the outlines is on the exams. she takes up lecture telling useless stories instead of teaching the material. she's an ok professor if you are willing to just learn on your own!
She is very hard, and some of the questions doesn't even come from the lectures nor textbook. Not easy class to get A but that's what she warned in a beginning of the class. All exams and quizzes are multiple choices so that helps in a way. I did like her thou I don't think I will take her class again.
Teacher is tough. But warns you well in advance that the class will take tons of study time. Although she is tough, it forces you to learn the material. You will EARN your grade in this class. I took it for granted. Attendance is mandatory to pass this class. You should definately record the lectures and take notes w/ during lecture on outlines.
Not an easy class. Diff to get am A. earned a B. F/T job, w/ frequent weekend OT, & a 9 year old. Key is to not be intimidated. Know the subject, anything you are not sure of, grab her before or after class. If you understand the subject for each exam, you are ready for finals!! Memorization alone won't work. It takes maturity to like her!
Tough, but explained well. Makes you earn your grade for sure. Very helpful, it helped me prepare for 224.
Her exams are very hard! But her teaching is good and she is very knowledgeable. Just record her lecture and u will do fine.
I tried really hard in this class and still failed. Lab is worth 2% of your grade - I felt like I wasted my time there. I hate CSNs biology program. This professor lectures non-stop for every minute of class then when the 80 question test comes its questions from the book and little from lecture. Only assignments are exams and they are HARD
I took this class in the summer. It's a lot of material to cover in a short amount of time. Record the lectures and listen to them several times. I also used crash course on youtube . I'm a visual learner. The class was an early morning one and I didn't once doze off or get bored. She's a really good lecturer. You can do it. Just put the time in.
I took her over the summer, she gives you the lecture outlines which helped a lot and uses some pictures from the book. You are allowed to record her lecture, so take advantage! Ask her questions and she explains it well. I really loved her and the test were not bad if you study the lecture outlines.
I studied more for this class than I ever have in my life, and that's including the B.S. I already have. I loved it. She has perfected her curriculum. Gives lecture outlines. RECORD LECTURES--very helpful for study. It's a hard class, no getting around it. After 2nd exam, will advise if you should drop--some did. Allowed them to keep attending.
Prof. Blizards class is hard, but she is very engaging. She doesnt lecture from power point slides, which is nice. She gives an outline and cares about helping her students. This class is hard to begin with but she makes it very digestible.
Let me say firstly, Dr Blizard is a wonderful person. Unfortunately, I had to take her BIO189 course over summer, IT WAS DIFFICULT! She talked a lot about her personal life and not so much on class material. She expected us to memorize 20+ page outlines that she may/may not test you on. Don't take her over summer unless you want NO life whatsoever.
She does not do canvas grading. You wont know your grade until in next class.
Clear introduction in the beginning, she blatantly tells you the class is hard and you will have to work for it. However, she gives you great outlines and lets you record her lectures. If you put the effort in you can do well. She's very responsive outside of class if you need help. Not an easy A but you get what you put in!
