MS DALTERIO IS AN EXCELLENT PROFESSOR. HER METHODS OF TEACHING MAKE CLASS INTERESTING, ENTERTAINING, AND YOU ACTUALLY LEARN! TAKE THIS CLASS AND YOU'LL BE SURE TO HAVE NO REGRETS. JUST ATTEND CLASS, PAY ATTENTION AND YOULL BE SURE TO GET AN A!
I wish every professor taught just like Dr. Dalterio. Her tests exactly match her lecture. If you go to class and take notes you will ace the course. She is a GREAT teacher.
Excellent teaching methods, very easy to understand, you didn't have to come to class if you didn't want to, and she has her stuff nailed down. However, she can't pronounce barbiturates right! Anyway she's still awesome.
Awesome teacher. A tad boring at times, but her tests match her lecture! I'm getting a "B," but I didn't attend class as much as I should've.
Dr. Dalterio is one of the MOST awesome professors I have ever had. Extremely smart and excellent in her subjects! Her tests are a true measure of her topics and are quite fair when graded. If you want to learn, take her! It is absolutely worth it!!!!
VERY interesting. Everyday after class i'd be telling people all the things I learned. After a while people hated me for 'killing their buzz'. She always answered my questions after class. The reason why the information is so interesting is because you can tell that she herself is GREATLY interested in it. GREAT PROFESSOR. WELL WORTH IT. :)
She has a light New York accent which is HOT! she is fairly easy just understand what she is saying and read the book some and you will make a good grade. Recommeded
Very interesting class. Study all your notes. Her tests come right from the notes.
she is a great teacher all u have to do is show up to and listen to pass. cool teacher
EXCELLENT professor and course!!! I love this class so much because Ms. Dalterio is so knowledgeable and interesting, not to mention she is ready to answer any question the freshmen throw at her! As a junior I wish I had more elective space in my degree plan just so I could take more classes such as this with this professor!
Awesome teacher. Very friendly, and knowledgeable. She'll answer, or at least acknowledge any stupid question the freshmen have.
Excellent class and professor, she is very well educated in what she is teaching, has an answer for every question, makes you want to come to class because it interesting, test are easy as long as you go to class and take notes
Fun and knowledgeable!
Great prof. Very helpful. Tests are somewhat easy if you study a little bit
She's good teacher. Basically, you take 5 test. If you average an A on those 5 test then you don't have to take a final. If you don't avg. an A then you have to take the final but she'll then drop your lowest test grade. Just go to every class and you'll be fine.
Dr. D is the best Bio teacher ever. If you go to class & take notes, you will get an A. I've had her for Bio 1033 & Bio 2003 and made easy A's in both. Grading is simple: 5 test 20-25 q's each. If you average an A, then your exempt from the final. I'm planning on taking her for Bio 4813, Brain and Behavior, next semester.
I think Dr. D is a great teacher. And a pretty good looking one to boot. Especially the upstate accent. Makes pharmacology all the worthwhile
very clear and organized lectures. all you have to do is take notes and you get an A. don't even bother buying the book unless you just want to read it for fun. go to class, she will tell you exactly what you need to know for the test.
Dr.D is a wonderful professor. She is very helpful and friendly. She is also very up to date and knows her stuff. If you go to class, and take notes you will easily make an A. Plus you learn some neat facts. I'm planning on taking her next semester for Human Reproduction course.
this class is an easy a! all you have to do is go to the class and pay some attn. to her!!! there are 5 tests, each is 25 multiple choice, and she drops the lowest score! if you get an a avg. on the regular tests you don't take the final!! sooo easy!! and the answer is always "all of the above!"
Wonderful. Very imformative. I would recommend her course(s) for Biology. She is a great teacher. Her lectures are like having a more personal conversation with someone. I have never been so fascinated in class before. Easy course. Easy A.
Although it's been over 15 years since I attended UTSA), I recall Dr. Dalterio being very personable, friendly, and always interested in the subjects she teaches. Thank you Dr. Dalterio for being an inspiration to me in my career as an ER physician. To this very day, I still hear her voice lecturing on the medications I prescribe daily!
Dr. D is an awesome professor. She does talk a bit fast and everything from the test comes from her notes. The text book is not necessary
AWESOME!! Gives test essay questions 1 week b4 test to complete and turn in on test day. Need to buy book since tests are open-book but can buy an old edition. Tests are straight-forward and not hard.
GRATE prof really wants you to undrestand the info. learn alot in this class. she knows her stuff. test are open book open note. take this class you will learn alot
BEST PROFESSOR AT UTSA!!! If you can take a class with her...DO NOT HESITATE!!! She's an amazing woman, very helpful, and very intelligent. She's one of those people that you could listen to for hours and hours becuase she know's so much about so many things. Great professor without a doubt!!!
OH MY GOSH!!!! I love Dr. Dalterio. She was helpful, understanding and most of all, interesting!! I would take many mre classes with her just for fun, but I don't have that kind of money!!! Seriously though, take Dr. Dlaterio if you want an A and don't want to be stressed!!
great prof. highly recommend taking any of her courses! go to class, take notes and study notes 3 days before test.
Im currentlytaking biology of reproduction with her and I think she's a great professor.I got A's on all my exams. She doesn't go by the book, so make sure you attend to class and take notes.Im learning alot on this course, she makes class intersting and easy to follow.
Very understanding
Very understanding of emergencies, very limited use of WebCT
Dr. Dalterio is a great professor! She is very fair and understanding and is willing to work with you if you are open and honest with her. Her lectures are interesting, her tests are all fill in the blank, and although class is not mandatory, tests are based off the notes she gives in class. Wish more professors were like her!
Best Prof I have ever had, till this day! Amazing class (drugs and society) as well! very fun! if you pay attention, and go to class the test will be a really easy! She will help you with anything!!
Great Professor, passionate about her subjects/ took her for Drugs and Society and Biology got an A in both... im a senior and I never get A's... but shes great, little scattered at times attendance isnt mandatory but neither is the books! If you dont buy a book GO TO CLASS! If you dont go to class BUY AND READ the book youll do Great!!!!!
GREAT TEACHER!! taugh me so much, i didn't even have to read the book, just went over my notes about 10 mins a day, and studied like half an hour for test and got 100's, class isn't manditory, neither is the book, one of the best prof. i have had. take her if you have the choice!!!
entertaining, keeps the learning intersting.
Interesting lectures, she knows her stuff. She's very friendly and upbeat, too. Attendance not mandatory, if you read the book you do not need to attend lecture. If you attend lecture, you don't need to read the book. Easy exams, 25 questions usually, they're common sense for the most part. Take her!!!! She's one of the best I've taken at UTSA.
She is just the best!!!
Dr.D is a great professor, and really interesting. She is extremely intelligent and tells a lot of cool stories about traveling the world. Old edition textbook is fine for this class, make sure you read and go to class. One extra credit group project. She is willing to fudge with your grade if you try hard and do all the work.
Dr. D is awesome! Extremely knowledgeable and I enjoyed the lectures. Attendance is not mandatory but there are things covered in lecture that will be on the test. Make sure you do the extra credit group powerpoint, they were actually very helpful to overall grade.
Awesome teacher study lecture notes for exam and definitely do the group project for extra credit. You don't need the book.
She is an okay teacher - except she doesn't use slides half the time and I found myself zoning out a lot. However, it is light book use and the review helps a lot for the test. Still -The tests are tricky - lots of all of the above questions. Also, she will totally treat you like a child on test day. "You can't leave until I say!" Very power trippy
Simply amazing professor. She has years and years of experience that is extremely useful. There are some things that you just don't learn from textbooks, and all of that, she will teach you. However, the textbook is fundamental and it should be read, but if you don't go to class, you grade will reflect your lack of attendance.
She is the best prof at UTSA i took her pharmacology/ toxicology class. and that was my beat choice . she has tons of information and the classes are very interactive and interesting. She doesn't just out of a book and gives you tons of examples and latest news in area of pharma. i just loved attending her classes
GREAT PROFESSOR! Extremely knowledgeable, professional, informative, & down to earth. Lectures very interesting & encourages students to engage & add to conversation or share opinions & ask questions. Highly recommend taking her class. Stays after class for further discussion or questions. Tests by book & pwrpnt. Always available to contact.
If you're an above average student I would choose her. I never attended class and got an A. She uploads what you should know for the test way ahead of time. Her classes are not boring though.
Very knowledgeable of the subject and gets to the point. Her exams are very straight forward and to the point. She's very helpful with reviewing for exams. Just start and you will pass exams. Do the quizzes they help. And get an iClicker for extra credit. I really liked her. I wish she taught all my classes.
Make sure you read your textbook and you'll do fine in this class! She's really nice and puts everything you need to know for tests up in advance so its very helpful! She makes tests that aren't too easy or too difficult so that's nice as well. Would recommend her to anyone interested in Biology!
The tests were directly off of the lecture slides. This class was quite the easy A. You could get away without attending most of the classes as well.
Really bad professor for this class because she goes on irrelevant topics. She asks the same questions on the tests just in diff ways, which makes it kind of tough. Rude when she's flustered, which is about every class period. Don't take Dalterio for Drugs and Society take Armstrong, you will pass with flying colors literally.
Dalterio is probably one of the best bio 1404 professors at utsa. She is very knowledgeable and clearly loves her subject. I made A's on every test BUT YOU MUST READ. She puts up a "what you need to know" list for every test and it proves to be very helpful. Read the book, go to class, you'll do fine!
I love Dalterio! She is one of the best bio teachers around. I would def take again. Doesnt require attendance but gives you lots of grade boosting assignments. Must read the book to get an A
Professor Dalterio is by far the best bio teacher anyone could imagine. She's awesome and helps your grade by assigning online quizzes that are easy to make a good grade in. Her tests are very clear cut and easy. GO TO HER ICLICKER SESSIONS! ! she gives you extra points for everyone you attend. Awesome professor!!
best bio teacher period.
Her lectures kind of make you fall asleep, but if you can make yourself pay attention the class is super easy. tip: if "all of the above" is an option- that's the answer. The final was difficult because she's not the one who makes it, but it wasn't too bad. If you go to class you don't need the book.
This was her first semester teaching Bio I.... she's a very sweet lady and if you take it with her you'll most likely get a good grade, but make sure you READ. She's the best of the other ones but I'm not sure I actually learned anything from her lectures themselves... tons of extra credit though and mark "all of the above" if it's an answer
She's a good teacher. Your grade depends on if you read. She won't spoon feed you all the information, so her lectures are usually meant to explain the topics that are complicated or tricky. She won't go over the whole chapter in class. She's there if you have questions. She's nice. You'll have quizzes(some extra credit) and tests. Take good notes
I decided to take Dr. Dalterio due to the great reviews on here. Unfortunately, she was anything but great. When I asked for help, she would give me a sarcastic remark and always complain to the class about having to teach 600+ students this semester and not being able to handle it. Her exams would be confusing due to her terrible wording. No bueno
Horrible Professor. Honestly don't understand her stellar reviews... She constantly complains in class about how shes always busy, and if you go up to her asking for help she'll often times reply to you with some snobby answer. Her assignments and exams are infested with typos, sometimes to the point of being incomprehensible. Wouldn't take again.
I love this professor. Just read the chapters, and do the need to knows for every test and you'll be fine. She also does multiple quizzes for extra credit. WOULD TAKE OVER AND OVER.
I love Dalterio and she is such a sweet lady !! She lets me eat in class and I still have an A thanks to her and I LOVE DALTERIO!!! MAY GOD BLESS HER AND I LOVE HER SO MUCH!!! She needs to be the head of the department !!!
I LOVE DALTERIO !!!!!! May God bless her and I just like playing with my hair in her class. The bio II class is so fun with her and I like to buy her starbucks. She is my best friend!!!! I LOVE YOU DALTERIO!!!!!
I LOVE DALTERIO !!!! GO DALTERIO GO!!!!! I LOVE YOU !!!!!!!!!!!
She thinks she's a writing teacher. She grades papers really tough
I question the validity of her Ph.D. Class is pointless because you either watch videos or listen to her ramble about things she isn't going to test over. Material of Bio 2 isn't hard in general but the way she words her tests questions makes it hard to understand- would not take again
If you have the chance to take Dr. Daltiero for anything.... do it! NO QUESTIONS! She is an amazing professor!! Her course for drugs & society was amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Slides are posted online. 5 tests and if you have an average of an 'A' then the final is optional! Don't buy the textbook you wont need it. 1010 great prof
One of the least helpful Professors at UTSA. She frankly should not be a teacher because her patience levels are close to zero. She has a tendency to blow up in your face if you ask her anything, and her lectures are pretty much repeating what the book says. Her exams are filled with typos and are so poorly written that they're sometimes wrong.
Her class is a piece of cake. I got low B's on every exam but ended up with a 93 for the semester with bonus points. Posts notes and test reviews online. She herself can be very condescending to her students when they ask questions., but if you usually don't need lots of help from your professors, you have nothing to worry about.
Easy Bio class and you never have to show up. She posts the power points online and her test answers are majority "all of the above"
Lectures went off-topic & weren't very helpful, but she posts her slides online. I had to learn all the material on my own (and it's a lot!). Tests aren't too bad if you study. She gives extra credit from online quizzes and really seemed to care about helping us do well on the common final. She was very nice when talking to her outside of class.
The person below who gave her 5+++reviews and kept going "I LOVE DALTERIO" needs to chill. She is a nice lady, a bit confusing sometimes. Her class is not hard. Study the PowerPoints and take your time on the quizzes. You don't really need to go to class. The group project is an unavoidable mess.
Her lectures often went so off topic, it was impossible to write notes. She jumped around a lot. I stopped going to her class, as did 80% of the rest of the class. Just read the book & slides, stay on top of assignment & start studying for the final on day 1 because holy crap, it's difficult! The common final has a reputation & it lived up to it.
Not a bad professor. She prepares you the best she can for the common final. Gives extra credit at the end of the semester. Tests aren't too hard, a lot of answers are "all of the above." Most people quit coming to class though. Prepare a lot for the Common Final, as I had an 86 average before the final exam, and didn't even make a 40 on it.
She taught by PowerPoint, but her test are straight forward and come for the book. Bio 1414's material is easier than Bio 1404. You don't have to go to class because she posts the powerpoint online, but just make sure you read the chapters for the exams. Offers some extra credit and there is one group project presentation, but just a PP.
Don't take this class
Extremely annoying and unclear! She is also no help when you ask a question. She will make you feel stupid in front of the entire class. All in all, it's an easy A! Attendance is mandatory!
Her lectures are long and pointless. She constantly repeats the same thing only to change it when we ask here to clarify. She's not very well organized and her teaching shows it.
Dalterio can sometimes be confusing about the work she assigns and can sometimes seem condescending in the way she deals with questions from confused students. Otherwise, she is pretty wise in the fundamentals of academia, and she particularly speaks well to those interested in the sciences. She always seems to have something interesting to say.
Im not sure if it was just the class of Dr. Dalterio herself but this was a pretty awful in class experience. She was really into it but was pretty confusing throughout the course of the semester. Its an easy A in that nothing is super difficult, but you have to work towards achieving it. A lot of assignments
I only showed up for one lecture and immediately left. She's a huge rambler and always posts the "need to knows" online before tests. Hunt through the book and the answers are clear. Easy tests. You need the book.
Top 3 worst teacher I have ever had. Wow. Dont even know where to begin. DO NOT TAKE THIS WOMAN. Period. End of discussion. Makes a blow off class super challenging. Grades wayyyy too tough for an AIS prof. DO NOT TAKE HER. I regret it so much.
Awful. Rambles on about nothing for most of the class period. Goes off a powerpoint that is either too detailed or too vague. The lectures are super unorganized. She shames you for asking questions, basically. Seems to enjoy embarrassing students for no reason. The tests are really easy, so I would just read the book and not waste time in class.
Drops your lowest quiz grade & gives you 4 extra chances to drop it. Gives you extra credit for doing the pre-test and drops your lowest exam grade. No point in going to her lectures, I don't think she wants you to past the first couple of days anyway. She misspells a lot. Her tests are ezpz! (it's always "both _ & _" or "all of the above")
Great professor lectures are long and there is a lot of material but she makes it understandable. DON'T wait last minute for her quizzes. Do her chapter reviews it helps. Beware the final is comprehensive.
Dalterio teaches off slides. She does give extra credit in class. She also post review sheets for each chapter that students can fill in. I recommend taking notes from what she says, rather than from the slides (she will post those on BB), completing each review sheet, and look over the chapters in the book. Some exam questions are from the book
Her tests straight up from the power point. It won't hurt if you attend her class, she gives lots of extra credit. Overall, an easy A.
If you read her powerpoints and textbook you will be fine for tests. Chapter reviews are helpful, and gives extra credit. Do not wait last minute for quizzes. Easy A for a biology class, and I hate science.
Overall Dalterio is a great choice. Tests are fairly easy, and going to class isn't mandatory but recommended because she does extra credit questions and they help A LOT at the end of the semester. I didn't read the book for every test, usually just did her "Need to know" sheets and studied the powerpoints.
She's a very nice lady, but every one falls asleep during her lectures. It's the third week of school and we have a test. You don't learn anything in that class, you have to learn outside and study the textbook and power points she puts up. She started doing top hat so attendance is mandatory now .
All I can say is DO NOT TAKE HER. She talks and rambles on the whole time and expects you to do well in the class, even though she was no help at all. Her tests are easy but you'll need to study. She's also a tough grader. The class is boring and makes students fall asleep. And she always thinks she's right, even though she's not.
I do not recommend taking her. Although she is very nice, she makes it very difficult to learn in class. I wanted to major in biology but after taking this class I'm not so sure anymore. Her tests are very detailed and specific and although I spent a lot of time studying I can barely make above a c. Honestly don't recommend.
Bad professor. Has lectures that makes you sleep and will not move on to the next question until someone finally say the answer (even if it takes 30 min.). If you do an essay or answer a question, you must give the exact answer in order to actuaply get everything right Tests aren't too bad just study the notes she provides.
Worst professor at UTSA!!! Don't take her at all! She grades really hard and does not know how to teach! Expects you to write the way she writes. Regret taking her class! Honestly don't know how she is a professor!
Dalterio is literally all over the place and talks about meaningless stuff in class. Bio II was not enjoyable and that is because I am a bio major. However, if you work hard outside the classroom (read read read!), you can manage to get B's and A's on her exams and quizzes. Beware, her exam questions can be tricky!
Dr. D is awesome. She really explains the subject matter very well and finds ways to make it interesting by relating it to our experiences. Go to class! 50 points extra credit for participating in TopHat questions. Her exams are exactly from the quizzes and TopHat questions, everything is straight from the lecture. She is super straightforward.
This is not a difficult class, but Dalterio is a terrible lecturer. She rambles, skips around on her slides, and when you ask questions she does not give a straight forward answer. The only reason I went to class was to get the 50 points of TopHat extra credit at the end of the semester, which REALLY helped. She's only good for extra credit.
Best nap of the day was in this class, Dalterio is a terrible professor when it came to AIS, not sure how she is with BIO related classes but terrible in AIS.
Her lecture is simply boring and out of order. Do not take her class unless you have an incredible patience towards a professor who doesn't know what she is talking about.
Bad professor. I love Bio and was excited but unfortunately she just reads off slides, no real added commentary, then doesnt answer questions. If you have an issue with something you're on your own. Don't know if she just lost her passion or what happened but I wouldn't take her if avoidable.
Professor Dalterio is really nice, but her lectures tend to drag on and be a bit repetitive.
I love Doctor D. Her notes are nice an specific, and she explains them further in a way that enhances your understanding of the topic. If you are a diligent student who actually cares about school then she will be more willing to help you. Her tests are supper easy and based off her study guide, ppts, and tophat questions. She knows her stuff! :)
Dr. D is a nice lady, but her classes have no direction. She jumps around a lot too! Lectures, materials, and quizzes, appear easy and you are able to grasp what she's saying if you pay attention. However, the material on her exams are pulled from somewhere else and not what was covered. Only 10% of study guides and notes are actually on the exams!
The tests come straight from lecture and the two projects are pretty easy. You don't have to attend class but it helps. The class material is simple but beware of mixing up what certain drugs do and their side effects when it comes to test. One test is dropped
Dr. D was awesome for BIO II. She relates everything to real-life, tangible scenarios, gives a LOT of extra credit, and loves those who participate. Ran into her outside of class and she recognized me and asked my name and is very pleasant to talk to. I had an 88 at the end of the semester, she bumped me up to an A because I participated in class!
Don't do it. You can read the chapters all you want, but her exams are very specific. Things you wouldn't think that are important, end up on the test. Her questions are random and are not at all what is learned in class. Save yourself and don't take her. I studied so much and still didn't do well in the class. Projects are easy though
Don't take her if possible. The only reason anyone would go to class was because she took attendance through tophat and asked about eight questions every class time towards the end. Exams are hard to study for because the material requires you to be very specific.
Dr. D is a fair professor. Grades are from participation, tests, and online quizzes. The online quizzes were easy if you read the chapter, took notes, and paid attention in class. Lectures are based on the book, so be sure to read the material for tests. I disliked her at first but she's fair and super funny. Difficult at first, but was interesting
Professor is very lecture heavy. Her lectures get very boring and it is easy to fall asleep. I self taught myself through the textbook reading and online videos and slept during her classes.
Very difficult professor to understand. Most of her lectures are unclear and have little to no correlation with the quizzes and tests. Generally my table and I use google for all quizzes instead. Tests are very hard. I have tried almost every method to study, and none really work. You're better off reading the book yourself. Very VERY fast paced.
Dalterio is an easy A professor. Her lectures are the most boring thing in the world and she goes on and on about random topics that don't have anything to do with the course. She's rude and condescending. Despite wanting to die while attending the lecture, her tests are a joke; in a format like "what is a cell?", "what is a mammal?".
Recently, there was a change in the textbook they use for 1404. While she lectures over the new Openstax textbook content, her tests are over the old Campbell book. She goes off topic during her lectures a lot. If you want to pass with her, attend every SI session and read the Campbell book.
her lectures are super boring she doesn't know how to organize her self when it comes to her project she doesn't explain well her test are difficult
I can't tell you the amount of times that she complained about using openstax textbook instead of campbell, which she was very obviously used to. Her tests are based on the old textbook which isnt free like openstax and have many questions like "which one of these is false?" Don't expect her to be available outside of class either.
Great. Just attend lecture and you'll at least pass. Do the quizzes! Always online, and open note, open book, open internet whatever and do it with a group-- and she says to do it this way.
There is no homework for the class but there are quizzes and exams. Her lectures are awful, she just rambles and its very difficult to follow. One thing that has really annoyed me are the quizzes (at home), I recently decided to start looking in the textbook for quiz so I should have done really well. I did worse on that quiz than any other...
Her class was okay. Only thing that bothered me was that when a student asked a question, she always got annoyed. Test are okay, but if you attend lectures and read, you can get a B. I recommend attending class because test are mainly from her lectures and you also get extra-credit from Top-Hat and the course evaluation.
I do not recommend this professor. Her lectures were not relevant to the material on the tests, her tests were worded strangely and hard to follow. When a student would ask a question in lecture, she would talk down to them. She is very heard to reach by email and was difficult to talk to in person. Take somebody else.
No final.. but tests almost every 2-3 weeks throughout the whole semester. Don't understand the material and need a question answered? She will literally shrug and just say to study without even trying to help you understand. I kind of thought the point of teaching was to help students learn, but apparently not for Dalterio.
There's no final in this class, but the class itself was a struggle. I felt like she often talked around what we were supposed to be learning, and I did a lot of self-studying. She gives out study guides, but even if you do it, the grade still won't be as high as you want. She's also kinda condescending if you answer questions wrong.
I took this professor in the Fall 2017 and I failed her course. I felt her lecture wasn't helpful for students and when people asked questions she was not very helpful. She would take down to students like, "why are you even asking a question." I did not enjoy her class or her use of tophat. Take someone else if you can!
Is hands down the worst professor at UTSA. Every time a question is asked she's rude about her answer and still doesn't explain it to you. If you answer one of her questions in the exact way she wants it she will be rude. When asking a question about your grade or how to fix something that she notated on something she will not let you. Do NOT take
STAY AWAY FROM HER COURSES BRO! She is the most whiny professor ever, and she complains about almost everything. She does not write directions well on any worksheet she hands out, and grades really difficult. She is loud, rude and sarcastic when you ask questions; and she laughs at her own weird jokes. She's a mediocre teacher and a true try-hard.
She is awful. Does not help, or explain things well. When you tell her about an issue she does not care, and wants to get out of class right when the lecture is over. There is no extra credit except for attendance, and you have to purchase tophat.
I dread this class so much, if it weren't for the extra credit points from tophat for attendance i would NEVER go. she is so monotone and gets off topic easily. She does give reviews before every test which I usually fill out as well as read the chapters and do just fine without listening to any of her lectures.
If there is another professor you can take then do that. She is a very off topic professor and it is difficult for us to figure out what she wants us to look at. There are some extra credit opportunities, but I feel like she could have done so much better when teaching.
DONT TAKE THIS LADY!! IF YOU LOVER YOURSELF PLEASE DONT. WORST PROFESSOR!!
Goes off topic a lot in lectures but posts her power points. Basically graded of quizzes, exams, and two projects (no final). You can pass with an A by going over her pp, reading book, and doing the reviews she posts. Not an amazing prof but would not say she was horrible either.
Biology isn't my forte, but even so this course was challenging. Professor Dalterio often skipped through slides and veered off topic. Thus, outside reading of the textbook is super important for tests, they're much of the final grade. There are two projects, fairly simple, but keep up with due dates. Attend every class for extra credit-- it helps!
Not my favorite class. Lectures tend to go off-topic. Expect to read a lot from the textbook as she doesn't cover that much during lecture (but she does talk about important points in the material). Attendance is not mandatory, but she gives extra credit for TopHat/attendance. Tests are okay if you (at min.) study TopHat/quiz questions and review.
She has a tendency to get off topic from lectures. She can be a little rude when being asked questions. She often skims through the slides without going through them in detail. Instructions regarding assignments and projects are extremely unclear; typos in almost all posts via Blackboard/email.
DON'T TAKE ANY OF HER CLASSES. Worst Professor I have ever had. She goes off in tangents a lot during her lecture so it's really hard to understand. She doesn't complete her sentences while talking. So, good luck attempting to take notes. Her Exams look nothing like the guides she gives out. I went to her office hours and she told me I was stupid.
Even though she does tend to go off topic during her lectures, Dr Dalterio is very knowledgeable and her lectures are interesting. The study guides she posts on Bboard help a lot, but you should also go to class and get good notes. As long as you pay attention you'll be fine! Idk why her rating is so low, the class is really not that hard.
Yeah, sometimes I have no idea what is going on and I'm pretty sure she doesn't either. If you had the opportunity to get thrown into a volcano or take this class, choose the volcano. At least things will be over quickly unlike the lectures of Dalterio. Oh and the exams are not like the reviews btw, so good luck...
Professor Dalterio is extremely intelligent. Her top hat reviews help a lot and she is totally respected as a senior lecturer. Try to take her to cover the basics of a lot of biology sub-categories. You learn a lot!
Dr. D is awesome! Very clear about her expectations- very respected at UTSA.
She gives 1 online quiz every week, and they're usually in the book. Her lectures are pretty boring, but I mean they're lectures... we're not in high school anymore. You will do pretty good if you study her top hat and quizzes, because thats basically what the tests are based off and she makes reviews. She also gives extra credit for top hat.
Dalterio is very educated on the subjects she teaches and is great at any answering questions. She creates "What to know" study guides for each chapter as well.
Her lectures are not helpful for the tests so if you want to get good scores, read the book. However she does provide information on what will be on the test. You can pass without going to any of the classes and just doing the reviews, watching videos, and reading the book. Class is not mandatory, she takes attendance as extra credit.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!!! I have never had such an awful teacher in my life! Her lectures are not helpful she goes off topic so easily. Her reviews do no correlate with her test so make sure to study everything. I only passed the class by reading the book. If you ask for help, GOOD LUCK! She always got mad and called me stupid for asking for help.
She constantly goes off topic, mentions one specific thing through-out these off topic stories and then only puts that on the test, even if you attend class you will be so incredibly bored that you will not pay attention anyway .
I literally played solitaire the whole time and got a B. She goes off topic a lot which is hard to follow, so I only went for top hat (gives extra credit for attendance and answering questions at end).
Her lectures are just descriptions of her powerpoint which can be found on blackboard. Attendance is not mandatory and as long as you study know the powerpoints before the test, you'll be fine and wont even need to attend. There is one project and it is incredibly easy and no final.
Professor Dalterio was a pretty mediocre teacher to say the least. She is not the best at explaining concepts.
I had her for Bio I fall2018. She was very nice and cares about the subject. Take notes for lecture and READ the book. She offers "What you need to know" sheets for exams that are helpful if you study. Attendance is extra credit. you have to care about doing well if you expect to do well here
Tests are noting like the lectures and are formatted very weird.
Took her for Bio 1404. She was very nice and cares about the subject. Take notes for lecture and READ the book. Make sure to study her attendence question they really help prep for the exam and "what you need to know" questions guide you whwn you study.
Horrible professor. Yeah, the class itself is interesting and you learn a lot. However, her exams are worded weird and her test reviews/study guides are nothing like the exams. She also gets mad if you ask questions. She replies sarcastically and treats you like you're stupid. Gets mad easily, and rude as hell. Regret taking this professor.
Powerpoint lectures, sometimes stray too deep into topics. Can often have a particular rude-ish tone in lectures. If you want to pass, just take good notes and study. Lectures are okay but can be an earsore to some. Don't ask a bad question in class, unless you want to have an attitude back.
She's not as bad as everyone says. The main issues are that she gets very off topic during lectures and the tests are worded weird (lots of "all of the above" and "only a & c" type options). Attendance is optional and taken through Tophat. Study from the book and do the study guides and you will do great. She gives some extra credit as well.
The phraseology on her tests makes the test more difficult than it needs to be. I was never absent, read every chapter and studied for hours and barely made an A. Extra credit is given for class attendance (that's what pushed me from a B to an A.)She is a rambler. I learned from the book and Clutch Prep. Tests are in class, quizzes are online.
She is a very nice person, but she is not the best teacher. She really loves biology but she doesn't know how to teach it.
if you take her class get ready for every exam to be messy and by this i mean there was always a typo in every exam she made, whether it was a repeated question or just no options for a single question. She always seemed to be in a bad mood when this happens and let it out on the class. Get ready to be belittled and off topic unnecessary lectures.
Lectures got off topic and made things confusing, reviews dont prepare you for test, wording on the test is made to throw you off and trick you. She does drop the lowest test grade though. Can be rude + condescending, when going over test questions a lot of students missed, she gets frustrated and claims the answer was obvious... well obviously not
this is a good class to show you if you should be a bio major or not. I absolutely loved this class, I learned a lot and it paid off, she comes off very stern, but if you are respectful and get on her good side she will go the extra mile to help you out. she does not put up with stupidity well, i will be taking her other class in the fall loved her
By far this professor has been one of the worsts I have ever had. She's very rude, and also goes off topic a lot so it's hard to keep up with her lectures. Homeworks were done through an online program and her tests were okay. I didn't expect this to be an easy class but her teaching approach is not helpful.
Dr. Dalterio is super nice and will work out any issues with you. Her tests are really tricky and makes you know all the material in depth. Go to class to do your tophat questions because its a big part of your grade. She wouldn't be my first choice to take for this class, but its not horrible if you do take her.
She goes off topic a lot during her lectures. Only way to really get a good grade in her class is to read the textbook. I really enjoy biology so i managed to pull through but if you don't really understand bio, then don't take her. She is a sweetheart and really cares about you but she just wasn't for me.
PROS: doesn't take attendance, POSTS POWERPOINTS ON BLACKBOARD, gives reviews for tests, drops lowest test score CONS: really can't think of any As long as you show up and study the powerpoints you should be okay. Tests are multiple choice and easy if you're doing the reviews. There's one final project that's over how you grew in the class.
She can really make you sound dumb for asking a question and definetely goes off tangent during lectures. You'll do good on the tests as long as you read the actual textbook.
Do NOT take this professor. Worst professor I've ever had. EXTREMELY unorganized. Everything about this class was horrible.
This professor is the worst Ive had. She goes way off topic while she lectures, her tests do not make sense and the wording is so bad and there is so many grammatical errors on her exams all the time. She does not know how to teach. Her tone is always rude to students whether its when they ask a question or when we get a question wrong.
The class itself is difficult and this professor makes it even more so. She is passionate about the subject but she does not teach it well. Anytime you ask her a question she either goes off topic, avoids it, or gets offended. I do Not recommend this professor because she has been rude to students on numerous occasions and is not helpful.
Do NOT take this professor. Worst educator I've ever had. Extremely rude and ill mannered. Tests were always a mess and she refuses to own up to her mistakes. Additionally, she blames the students and often times has no idea what she is doing. Please, PLEASE do not take this professor.
By far the worst professor I've EVER had. Does not stay on topic in lectures. Her test wording is awful. She made multiple mistakes on our last exam then lowered our exam grade AFTER the grade had already come out. Most of the students in my class are emailing the dean beacsue of the issues we are having with her. DO NOT TAKE HER!!
If she's an option, do NOT even think about it. Turn away the minute you see her name. Her lectures are hard to follow as she rants and does not stay on topic. She is not good with technology, so switching to online classes with her this semester was the WORST thing to happen. Please, save yourself the stress and do not take her class.
Don't usually do this but had to for this prof. Your grade will solely depend on tests, which has so many grammar/spelling errors you are likely to fail just on that, and quizzes once every 2 weeks, same problem. Class is mandatory but she runs on about random stuff unrelated all class long. easy material but she makes it difficult. rude emailer
She is unorganized. She rambles in class. Talks about one topic most of the time. Her slides do not accurately follow her lecture. She thinks she's funny. She is a little much. However her class is not too hard.
Dr. Dalterio is very unorganized. She talks about the same topic the whole class period. She constantly makes mistakes on her tests and when you try to talk to her about it, she gets responds in a rude way and doesn't fix it.
I dont normally do this but Professor Dalterio is not a good Professor. She was very unorganized and vague whenever students would email her for help. She does give TopHat points at the end of the semester, which helped my grade, but I would look elsewhere for a professor.
Dalterio is hands down the worst professor I have ever had. She doesn't lecture properly, so attendance will not get you anywhere on her quizzes. She knows this, so she offers extra credit to people that stay through the end. She has also has manually changed grades to be lower than what you scored without explanation. Never, ever take her class.
I would not recommend this professor at ALL! Her test are all written by her and her wording of Quizzes and Tests caused a lot of confusion. Hard to reach outside of class. Does not have patience and is disrespectful to students. Changes grades with no explanation and all around just not a good professor.
My first year as a college freshmen and in the year of a pandemic she was my Biology 1404 Proffesor. Dr. D is a little disorganized at times, her lectures good but I recommend to read the book also. Her quizzes and tests are confusing at times. Her wording is what gets you, so know the material, specially on the tests.
Only does lectures for the information. She gives you a textbook pdf but she test over stuff she only mentioned once in class. She offers tophat for extra credit and many test questions are exactly the same as the tophat questions so get that if you can. She is very rude and not helpful at all if you email her or try to ask her questions.
She never ready to teach the class, always having issues with the platform. It is better to watch you tube video and you learn more instead of watching her lecture. Her test are poorly worded and often with errors, and trick question like she's trying to fail you. She get upset when you call her out on her flaws , please do not take her class.
She is so disorganized you will end up paying for her mistakes!! She refuses to acknowledge when she's done something wrong and will. Not. Fix it. Don't take her. There are students that plan to talk to the dean about her. Terrible Professor.
***DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR*** She rambles and rarely ever gets through all of the material before assigning a quiz for it. You'll have to teach yourself from the textbook, tests are ridiculously worded and she'll never admit if she's wrong. Gets angry when students ask questions, 10/10 email response will be rude. SHE IS NOT A PATH TO SUCCESS.
She is highly unorganized. Her lectures have good general information, but she likes to go on tangents. However, she is not as bad a teacher as many say. She posts pdfs of the textbook with highlights of what to study, but it is up to you to do so. If you put the time in, an A is very attainable. You can get TopHat for 20 points extra credit.
Dont take her, Prof D doesnt even deserve to teach at UTSA. Her way of teaching is using the openstax bio textbook and telling us to read with no help from her lectures. She's unorganized, rude, and takes points off of exams with no context. For example i got a 90 on an exam and later i had an 88 without any understading. I got an A w/out her help.
Dont take Dalterio. She is one of the rudest professors I have had and is terrible at teaching the content. If you take her expect to read the openstax textbook in order to study for exams because her lectures arent any help either. Oh and also, when you take the exam it wont matter what you study bc her exams arent related to the learned chapters.
I took Professor Dalterio in my first semester of college (Bio 1404). I hated every second of that class, not because of the material but because of the experience. Her exams are really hard and words them very weirdly (makes you doubt urself). She does offer extra credit so thats a plus. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!
solid choice for a prof. a lot of people hate her but she's honestly an easy professor if you put in the work (not a lot). REALLY flexible and let ppl take tests after they closed. get tophat and go to lectures and read the textbook you're basically set for the test. she drops 1 test and the final is only 10%. doesn't proctor tests with camera.
I took Dalterio my first semester of college (Bio 1404.) It was not a good experience and I feel like I should have learned more. Her tests very very confusing and she would get mad at students for getting answers wrong, instead of explaining why it's wrong. She does give extra credit though so that was one nice thing.
WORST and I mean WORST professor at UTSA, no doubt. I have never in my life hated a professor so much. Avoid her at all costs. She should not be teaching, she genuinely wants to see you fail and has an ego issue. Snarky and rude remarks 24/7. her class sucks and she teaches nothing. NO NO NO, AVOID.
She gets mad when people ask questions and goes off on anyone who asks questions about reassurance. She grades the exams so heavy but makes them very hard. She doesnt give resources to succeed on the exams. She is a horrible professor.
Worst professor ever. Gets mad when people ask questions, very rude and unreachable at times. The tests are worded awfully. Way too much homework for a core class, does not respect you have more important classes. Tests/projects every other week, goes way too fast. Lectures don't help at all, basically learn everything from homework. Do not take.
Best professor by far, but you have to show up take notes and pass the attendance quizzes!!!
Scared I'm going to ruin my 4.0 with this class. Due dates for assignments were constantly being changed, there was way too much homework for the average person's schedule, the tests/quizzes were often poorly worded. Random quizzes are assigned frequently, there are 5 tests (lowest dropped), and no final. Poorly organized and lots of work.
She is the worst professor I have ever had. Extremely rude and doesn't care about her students. I regret taking her class, especially during a virtual semester. She didn't care about technical problems with her tests or meetings. She always seemed irritated and had no patience for students who simply needed a bit more of an explanation.
This professor is very passive aggressive. If you participate in class and you're wrong she will act annoyed that you didn't know. Overall made you not want to participate out of fear of being wrong. Lecture slides are based of the textbook but she also expands on it with more notes. Go to the TA sessions those are how you will pass.
She is an okay professor, the way she teaches is odd at times. She isn't very helpful when you are confused as she seems confused most of the time as well. Overall pretty easy class, just do your assignments and you should get an easy A. The teacher assistants are going to make a huge difference in the class so make sure to look out for them.
gets mad and raises her voice when you ask questions and doesnt explain herself well. took online course and she never completed her lectures cause she would just go on and on about the same thing. only reason i passed was thanks to the TA.
If you want to learn anything in this class you'll have to read the textbook (which is free). Her lectures are hard to follow and don't contain all of the content. She was a little rude and made you feel dumb if you asked any questions. I honestly learned more from the TA during exam reviews than I did during her lectures.
Not the best professor. If you want to take a course from her then expect to pretty much teach everything to yourself through the textbook because all she does is ramble and never gets to the point. For reference, we were 3 weeks behind our lab. She's not tech-savvy so your grade will suffer due to her mistakes. Also uses proctorio which sucks. :/
This teacher gets off topic so easily. She does not know how to work playposits and when we had technical issues she did not care and it lowered our grades. She is extremely biased upon certain subjects as well. You may get a B in this class.
Be prepared to read the textbook to learn the material, grades are based mainly on homework quizzes and tests. Her tests don't cover what's stated in the syllabus and will inform you a class day before what will be covered. Her teaching style can feel all over the place and sometimes can't work the playposit videos.
Easily off topic. Pay attention to the lectures, PowerPoint and book.
Tends to get a bit off track during lecture she does however drop a test and gives you outlines on what will be on the test which makes the test fairly easy just be ready to teach yourself
I didn't like this professor at first because her lectures seemed long/ boring, but the longer I was in her class the more I began to like her. She is very caring and reasonable towards her students. The course load isn't excessive, and she is always clear on grading/ policy. She is truly just passionate about her subject and her students learning.
Good class, would take again! I will admit I failed the first exam, but after that she started providing exam reviews and those really helped. She is very passionate about her lectures and that helped me be focused during class. Final exam is optional and replaces your lowest test grade and the weekly homework shouldn't take you more than 2 hours.
Professor Dalterio is actually so funny because of how blunt she is. I took her biology class over drugs and society and it was one of my best classes. The homework assignments are rare but they were also a MAXIMUM of 15 words, so it was not hard at all. The exams were proctored but if you watch her lectures and write some notes, they are easy.
She gives out a few assignments and a lot of tests! Her wording on some questions on the tests make it hard to understand
Mrs. Dalterio is a very sweet professor who focuses heavily on lectures and online assignments. 0 group assignments and participation matters in class. She tries her best to give extra credit to students and does drop a low exam grade. Pay attention and attend lectures and you will do great in the class !
I love her so much, i have never met a more kind and caring proffessor. She is so understanding and will always be there if you need help, but during her lectures she tends tlo ramble a lot so you will probably have to read outside of class. Her tests are great and clear, basically from the notes
Super sweet teacher, big talker. Will always leave knowing something new and its overall very interesting to listen to. Not super heavy on homework and tests are pretty straight forward. Would take course again. Only downside is there is a good bit of tests but she takes the lowest one off your grade at end of semester so not too big of a deal.
Really good teacher. Tests are super easy; she provides a review. One of the tests is dropped. The grade is made up of connect quizzes, homework, tests, and one group project. The group project is super east.
People do not show up to her class but she does give answers to the people who do!! So Show up!! She repeats a lot of things that show up on the test so that is also a giveaway. She is super sweet and she will help you if you just ask. Overall, 8/10 :)
Dalterio is really nice she cares about students and always wants to help. She is so enthusiastic about bio. She gets super off-track tho and her lectures are so boring but PAY ATTENTION, everything she covers is on the test so go to class, pay attention, and you should get a good grade in the class and also really quick and easy assignments.
I only had to take this class in order to continue my KIN major... but this professor just yaps all class and gets like off track. she gets mad when she ask a question to students and they get it wrong/don't know. Every Sunday you have connect assignments due which is awful. Just be prepared for the 4 exams, group project, and a lot of McGraw-Hill
Dr.D gives 5 exams but drops the lowest. Her exams are decently hard but not too bad. The TA provides a review, STUDY THAT!! That will definitely be your guide to a passing score. Attendance is mandatory and she can get off track so a lot of it is going to be you reading on your own.
Professor mostly reads off slides, but tends to kind of get off topic. The class isn't very engaging. Tests are pretty moderate, 1 is dropped at the end of the semester. If you want a good grade, study the reviews the TA gives out! Also the recharge feature on connect is good resource for extra studying.
She only read off of slides and frequently went off topic. Very inconsistent; would say one thing on email and then would do another thing. Exams weren't hard but do not bother using her review she gives you, use the TA instead. Very condescending and rude as well, would never take her again.
Dr.Dalterio was not a very engaging professor and easily strayed from the topic at hand, although clearly passionate about Biology. She has lots of homework but the exams are not a problem if you put in the effort to take notes in class. Overall easy class but very boring.
She is horrible if u miss any assignment even hours after deadline she will not reopen any assignments she is the only professor that is not acommidating. She is nicer to males then females and she eas just so mean u cant ask her questions or answer a question wrong withiut her getting all mad about it. I AM A a and B student and the amount covered
She gets off topic all the time, her instructions are unclear about the individual project, never responds to emails after the first month of the semester, and offers barley any assignments only the exams and 1 homework assignment before the exam. Be wise steer away!
Dr. D's class can be dry, but the exams are manageable if you study the TA's review guides. The textbook is helpful, and using unstuck study alongside other resources like ChatGPT can make prep much easier. Just be ready to do some independent learning.
She gets off topic all the time, but when she does it is an amazing story about her life that will leave you crying at the end.
This is a very much lecture heavy class. This professor can get off topic but it is not distracting as its a good story and will relate to the topic. She is super funny and has a great attitude. BUT GO TO THE CLASS!!!! If you do not you WILL struggle but everything on tests is mentioned in lecture!
Despite her passion, she also drains any type of fun in the subject. This course is suppose be a facilitator for students to witness their first real college biology class, with the combination of reading off slides and and dull teaching, the one hour and fifteen minutes feel like a eternity. The only actual help is the TA. However, test are easy.
Not a terrible teacher, gets a little confusing on some stuff. she knows alot and is very easy to talk to.
Terrible teacher, can't figure out technology for the life of her. Exams are somehow able to be retaken and not, depending on the person, hinting towards favoritism. Posts 6-8 assigments on any given day without being on the syllabus.
Professor yells at students a lot, yet also allows students to talk over her during class, making learning in lecture impossible. You will have to teach yourself from the book. The head coordinator for BIO 1 makes the tests and she acts as if she has no idea what we will actually be tested on. Lots of material on tests that aren't on the reviews.
Do not take this class. She gets off topic a lot, so no point of attending her class cause she'll only get through 4 slides and for the project she was EXTREMELY strict, giving many questions and wanted it detailed but with a very low word count allowed and didn't give opportunity to fix grade on it. It brought down many people from my class grade.
she gets off topic so much, I could never keep up. the information was very confusing to hear from lectures but when reteaching yourself outside of class it made more sense. homework wasnt bad, and tests were pretty difficult.
