Easy at first, but the last four weeks is when 80% of the writing is due. very demanding. She is somehat picky. She does't let you say very in your essays. All I can say is that I am very very very veery very veyr very very very very very veryflustered.

She tries to be funny, where she's not (though she gets lucky sometimes). Read the readings, cause those quizes may lower you a grade if you don't read. Make sure you turn in a rough draft with every final copy, or it won't be taken.

Rates bulletin board comments much more important that the three papers (only three papers for a english composition class!) Flustered and harried, expect great periods of silence during the online course.

Lots of work. Expect to go to class. Don't ask for special circumstances.

She is a very knowledgeable teacher, very fair, and willing to help always during office hours. She is a tough grader, but it pays off. I learned a lot from her. Take her course if you are ready to learn.

This professor Rocks! She is always willing to help and great at teaching. Just ask and you shall receive. That does not mean she is easy. You will be proud to say you earned an A.

If you are looking for an easy professor go somewhere else. If you would like your money's worth and a valuable education! Take Susan. She is willing to help those who are willing to make that effort to learn. She is the closest thing you will get to a real professor at this school!

she is a good teacher..Witty and smart. Not too many papers but you learn a lot in the class. The only thing I can complain about is her absence rule..She should be easy going about that because a lot of her classes were spent feeling like she was filling time.

Easiest class ever. Read 2 or 3 short stories a week, occasionally a quiz, 1 paper a week, 450 words. She spends all of class talking about completely useless and irrelevant things.

SUSAN ROCKS. She made literature fun and afterall isn't that what you want. she will blow your mind with her lectures, she keeps you interested in things that normally would bore you.i recommend if you get a chance to take her you will not regret it

Dauer doesn't suffer fools gladly. Fools: students who don't think it's important to read assignments listed on the syllabus; students who haven't bought assigned texts 2 months into the class, et al. It's a no-brainer. She's hard as hell, BUT, if she knows you're trying, she's great. Don't Slack! A rose, by any other name, would smell as sweet.

Dr. Dauer is consistant; she will always ask you to do whatever is hardest, whatever you think you can't possibly accomplish. Lo and behold...you can do it! And she's the one who made you prove it. Oh my, this is college!

She is a great teacher. I think that whoever didn't like her class didn't feel like learning. We are in college now, it's time to grow up Geez. Just do your stuff and don't slack off. That's pretty much life. She is a great help and a lot of fun. People please take her because she is awesome. I now view and appreciate literature in a new way.

Very tough grader. Never seen anything like it. In her class, when in doubt do it anyway. She does however have a pretty good sense of humor. I'm not really sure that these counteract each other though.

Tough grader, but she doesn't hide that. Prefers to discuss papers during office hours rather than on drafts. Drops students who don't follow the rules.

Overall I really Like Dr.Dauer,she has a way of keeping you on your toes. Although at times she may not have the best personality, thats just the way she is, & she means well. u cant be lost in her class b/c she completely follows her syllabus. Alot of easy quizzes that help ur grades. I enjoyed her class and am taking her again next sem. TAKE HER!

She grading is harsh, but if you visit her during office hours she does help you out a lot. When she says the reading quizzes can help out a lot, she means it! The things she talks about during class are quite interesting.

Go to office hours. Pass the quizzes. Happier professor. Higher grade. Really.

She is very hard grader on papers i always got a's on papers n i got a d on my 1st paper in a class of english majors pple were getting fs. She is very funny though intresting. Get help 4 papers it makes a huge diff. itll take u from a d to an a or b. Funny, intresting, but hard not a lot of work class though so so funny lady n nice but sarcastic.

i actually don't mind going to her class. she has a dry sense of humor but she can actually be really funny. just do your papers on time because she is a stickler for late work and attendence!

She is a good teacher.But, do not cross her. I have witnessed her rip students to pieces for certain offenses. She makes very clear what she wants of you, do it. Go to office hrs, read short takes when assigned and turn in papers, its not that hard. She is quirky and has an interesting class, you will learn ALOT guranteed.

She is really rude and will withdraw quickly and even throw you out of her class. She doesn't believe in doing her hair and has terrible jokes. She's a rough grader and going to her office hours will barely raise your grade. Always turn papers in on time and make sure to resubmit your rough draft with your final copy or she won't accept it.

She was extremely hard. I've never had trouble with English until her. She's willing to work with you and she's not a bad person, just really tough on papers.

Shes a pretty good teacher. Shes really nice if you get on her good side! Laugh at allof her silly jokes and make sure you read what she says!! She looks kind of scary when you first see her and she acts like she doesnt care but shes really nice!!

Warning To Other Students: Dauer is really funny, but extremely strict and a harsh grader. If you are at all wary about you writing skills; avoid. If you will miss class; avoid. If your cell will go off; avoid. If you perfer to not be humiliated in front of the entire class; avoid. If you are perfect in every way - go ahead!

Tough teacher, read the book, write your essays then throw them out bc she will tell you they suck, so write another, better one. and laugh at her jokes.

She's okay. Took her online. She has weekly forum discussions on webCT (online class) and she expects you to participate. It's 20% of your grade. Her essays aren't difficult topics, however she's a really tough grader. Got a B and I felt lucky. Also, she tends to switch around due dates without warnings, so check the calendar often if you take her

Professer Dauer isn't as tough as everyone makes her out to be. We had 3 essays for the ENL class, and no quizzes or tests--just a final but she gives you the question before-hand. Just pay attention and ask questions--and you get extra points for pointing out any spelling/grammar errors she makes. The in-class assignments were easy, too!

Read the Policy Statement. She's really attached to it. I mean, really attached. She can be a bit sarcastic, but that's not all bad.

She is one of the most down to earth teachers I have every had but she grades your work very tough. You will have to write 5 papers the whole term one being 5 pages and will have little **** quiz's on essays u read at home from your book. Shes big on attendance you get 4.

I absolutely loved this class. Dauer is incredibly knowledgeable and makes the topics fun and interesting. You won't get away with bad grammar or a poor argument, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I had Dr. Dauer for British Literature 1300-1800, and I loved the class. Her sense of humor compliments her lectures, which are already interesting, and she clearly has extensive experience with English lit. She is also responsive to students and offers help willingly. Write wisely, research thoroughly, and you will enjoy this class!

3 essays, random class work counts as quizzes, no midterm, final is an in-class essay.VERY picky with the essays.Do them early and take them to her office.She?ll tear it up-no penalty.Take draft to the Writing Center for grammar help. This woman is sharp as a tack, witty, and kind.Do not let her initial gruffness fool you.Gave us pizza last day.Show up on time; absolutely do the reading;ALL in class work done in PEN or points deducted; essays critical.Quizzes are mostly group work (tip:print out Chaucer in modern English from Harvard online.She follows syllabus to the letter.

Fairly straight forward class. Follows syllabus 100%, and expects you to. She grades difficult, but there is not much work to do in class. Did 3 essays, some busy work during class for quiz grades, and a 500 word written final on a subject she gave to us prior to the final. Overall a challenging teacher, but a good one.

Go to office hours. She loves that. Will give you a better grade!

I came into this class with very little confidence in my writing, and left feeling ready for all of the required gordon rule classes. Don't let the reviews scare you away. Prof. Dauer is an honest grader, but if you put ANY effort in at all, she will notice and help you along the way. Office hours and the writing lab are the keys to success.

She was strictly OK. She's not horrible....if u do everything she says like go to purdue owl for citations and go to office hours if she asks you to. If you don't do what she says, you'll either fail or she'll withdraw you instantly. I passed because I went to office hours constantly. And read the stories because she has pop quizzes. Good luck!!!

Dr. Dauer is an amazing teacher. Very few grades in the class, but if you take advantage of her office hours, use all the resources she provides, & put effort in the class, you'll pass easily. Only three absences allowed, but she's very willing to work with. She's intimidating. but so knowledgable. A lot of classroom interaction to keep you awake.

I had her during the summer, and I would say there are ups and downs to the class. Although she has office hours if you need help, she grades the essays very hard, although she does give some input why you got the grade you did. The quizzes are easy, as is the homework. She can be funny, but she can be very rude with religion. We didn't use a book.

I enjoyed this class. She is very knowledgeable, has a great sense of humor and teaches you a lot more than just writing a paper. She'll help you via email and during office hours. She states clearly what is expected of you, no surprises. She gives you the respect you deserve. Put in the effort and take your work serious, and you will do great!

Dr. Dauer is a wonderful professor. She really knows what she is doing and loves teaching! She has a great sense of humor but is also pretty strict. She only has 4 papers and then a few quizzes, so make sure you do all of your work!!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND HER unless you have no other options. She knows her stuff but is extremely strict with grading. I don't think anyone has gotten an A yet on an essay, it would take the editor themselves to get an A in her class. Pretty rude as well, HALF OF THE CLASS DROPPED BY THE DRP DEADLINE.

Hilarious. Snarky. Easy class if you do the reading assignments and watch the assigned YouTube videos. Only four fairly easy 2-3 page papers to write. She can seem like a witch but she's awesome. Really enjoyed this class, already registered for her comp 2 class next semester. Take her class!

I don't know what all of these other reviews are talking about, Dr. Dauer was a great teacher. For the essays, as long as you turn in the rough draft, she tells you exactly what you need to do well for the final draft. I never did the reading or watched the videos and I passed the class with an A. I don't like her as a person but the class was easy

If you struggle with writing, you may want to look for a different professor. Her lectures are actually enjoyable though. She is a tough grader and it's hard to read her handwriting but she is clear about what she wants done. Just be sure to check her website often and you'll do fine.

Her class is idiot-proof. Everything is laid out for you from day one. Just stay on top of things and you will rock the class! She is very kind and understanding as well should you have an issue. Just always come to her. Never hurts to ask!

I have taken both ENC 1101 and ENC 1102 and she was amazing! Yes, she is a tough grader, but she works with students who are willing to try. She is very nerdy and her humor is cynical. She gives clear expectations on what is expected and gives the students multiple resources if they need help, including herself. She will make you a better writer.

I really liked Dr. Dauer. Her class is a bit dry but easy. I thought she was funny and a really nice person. She doesn't take any crap, ANY crap so don't try her. Some don't like this but I respected her so much for it. So many students expect to be handed an A without working for it. She will make you work for it but it's so easy. I'd take again.

Professor Dauer is the best English professor I have ever had. Her grading process is something I think all English and humanities professors should adopt: you turn in your final draft, she adds commentary, and if it isn't an A quality paper, you have the chance to rewrite it and make all of the changes she suggested. Perfect for ENC1102.

Dr. Dauer is clear about her expectations for assignments and is willing to review rough drafts to give input and advice. She lectures on literature, challenging students to think about the content, meaning of stories and writing style through open discussion each class. Do not miss class or be late, turn papers in and follow MLA format.

She's a good professor. I read on here before I had her, and the reviews were bad. I would not consider her a "friendly" professor, but she is not bad at all. The assignments are clear, and you can tell she puts time into coming up with them. The class is just papers and discussion boards. She gives great feedback too, and provides resources.

She is an easy professor and course is also easy, 1 DP every week & 5 essays. Lots of chances for easy extra credit eg playing a game. Very doable class, Professor has dark humor which makes the atmosphere light, I used to laugh in every class, but sometimes is a little boring. I would recommend her to everyone. We watched many YT videos in class

How in gods name does Dr. Dauer have such a low grade? I never had a teacher who is this caring, helpful, and engaging with her lectures as Dr. Dauer. I even asked her to write a letter of recommendation and she wrote it and responded to me in a matter of hours. What are people taking about?
