lots of music clips and video clips which are great..lectures at a pace that doesnt make writing difficult, tests are easy...but a 3 hr nite class feels long no matter how u lecture :(

Thoroughly enjoy this class. Not a huge fan of textbook MC questions! She's v approachable and open to asking questions

GOOD TEACHER

You know what, I actually like her. I think she's a good prof who has a lot of knowledge of popular music. She tries to make the class interesting, gotta give her credit for that.

I like the class, she's a good lecturer, but... stop saying the word "consume."

She reminds me of a lil pixie! haha... Honestly though, she's fun, and it's a fun class. The info is actually interesting for those who pay att'n. Oh, and I like her attire, always dressed to a T.

She's great. Not many profs will sing to their classes.

Dr. Fast knows a lot about her work and i think she's brilliant. Very approachable!

Decent prof. Loves her Zepplin. Not as much of a bird course as you may have heard, but interesting at least. Should be required for all. Then again, talking about music is like dancing about art...

A good pro, good a lecturing BUT very disorganized and liked to come up with excluses as to why stuff was not marked. We are busy too. Give us a break sometimes. How can you sign in the next assignment, done in the same manner as the firs when you don't have the first one back??

Dr. Fast is a wonderful woman. She gives interesting lectures and is very willing to chat about music, or anything in general. I think she is inspiring.

This class is an easy class, but it will NOT boost your average. Fast talks way too much, not enough listening to music so that you UNDERSTAND what shes saying. Also, too much emphasis on politics....its hard though to teach a course like this, with so much potential info!

You Guys REALLY didn't join the class to just look at the music at face value, did you? c'mon, really, this is uni, it's all about analyzing the influences that made the music we all love. and if you're sick of the "SHH"...then don't TALK during class about who you made out with during the weekend!

I am very disappointed in fellow mac students. Its pretty ignorant to expect that music has no social or political meaning. You may have been pissed that the class wasnt easy, but you could still have an open mind about the social meaning of historical events and the things that various groups go th

she is a pretty fair woman but the tests are specific so make sure that you know the material. it helps to read the text and courseware, but lecture notes should be fine. if you study you can do well, don't think that its a "bird course" or you'll be screwed over!

I had her for 1st year music history. She can be difficult - I learned exactly how to approach her. She actually taught me how one should type up their written notes right after class ends & I would approach her if I had any queries in her office which she didn't mind at all (she would know someone was actually paying attention to her! ha ha!!)

fun, entertaining teacher. if you can take music 2II3, do it!the course material is great and pretty essential for any music lover.

really cares about what she's teaching. studied countercultures through themselves, rather then from a textbook view. her multiple choice is impossible though, and despite how much i loved the class i felt terrible leaving my hands in the fate of impossibly worded m/c options. kind of killed my grade, but i'd take it again.

It's really no wonder this course is so popular! Dr Fast makes the material interesting, engaging, and thought-provoking. Yes, this means she will ACTUALLY make you THINK, so if that's a problem just DON'T TAKE THE COURSE. Dr Fast is smart, sharp, and brings cultural context into her classes. Overall, highly recommended!

This was my favourite class of the year. The content was amazing, and despite what people say, her lectures make the subjects MORE interesting. I have not wanted to skip class once all semester. Granted, the exams are hard, but fair, as I know people who got 90s and others who got grades in the 60s.

Loved the course. Dr. Fast makes the material engaging and fun, and is also always available to lend a helping hand. One of my favorite profs of my university career.

I didn't find her too approachable but her lectures were pretty interesting albeit very long. Textbook was absolutely necessary and tests were pretty confusing 'cause she's a big fan of the A and C, A and B, none of the above, etc. format. The listening lab was EXTREMELY helpful. If you had any confusions, def. go to those.

I had her in cultural studies and she was great. Told us the injustuces being faced at the university are the result of poor leadership in the Mac upper admin, because theres no checks and balances on them. This course was all about power, and you could tell she was fighting the issues and wanting us to get involved.
