I feel like I'm in the second grade. Make her stop. She manages to cram 10 min. of info into an hour and a half.
Uggh this class sucked and her teaching was mindless. Finally dropped the class because I just couldn't stand it anymore.

Picks favorites. If your not on the list then you dont do well. Unclear teaching style and unwilling to help students who dont understand, she rather directs you to the nearest billboard for constuction paper examples of what you dont understand. This class sucked!
I agree on the favorites comment. Im not one and she never thinks twice about me. She expects you to get it the first time no matter what and even when you go to her office and ask, she tells you to go to the tutoring session rather than help you! BLAH!
She makes everything very clear. If you don't get it in this class, it is your own fault. She has made a scary class managable. I am happy that she was reassigned to the time slot for my class.
She is very friendly and explains things fairly well. Do yourself a favor and communicate with her as much as possible; her "favorites" are the people who show interest (with good reason.)
If you go to class everyday, you should be fine. She does have a tendency to drone on about something that should take about 5 minutes, and make it seem like the most complicated thing on earth. Any questions will be directed to the papers hanging outside her office. Does pick favorites.
Good teacher. Makes a difficult class bearable. Very helpful if you ask for it. Make sure to read syllubus for extra credit. Also go to her website for additional info. You can get an A in Probs/Stats if you take her, but you must still attend class and do the work.

she made everything seem more complicated than it really was. She was very rude when i asked simple questions about class assignments and made me feel stupid for asking. Has an attitude problem. I am retaking with Robe. She is much much better and i really understand more
She is very rude at times. Sarcastic, and unwilling to lend a hand. She is a smart alec and expects too much. She also goes on for too long.
She is one of my favorite teachers at ETSU. She does expect you to do the work and come to class. There are several extra credit opportunities for her class (60 points just for attendance) She makes it easy to get a passing grade. I would recommend her to anyone.
I'm really glad I took P&S with Ms. Hosler. She is very thorough and very clear. She expects you to attend the class & do the work. There are many things she does for extra points. She is very no-nonsense but I like her teaching style & gives students every opportunity to ask questions.
Easy, but at times she is a pompus ass. Just go to class and do your homework and youll do fine. Learn to sleep with your eyes open.
This class was the worst experience of my life. She is rude and sarcastic and I wouldn't even try asking her to help if you are struggling. She makes anyone who asks feels stupid and she plays favorites.
Ms.Hosler teaches by example but one example doesn't quite cut it. Get a tutor to help explain what's gone in class because you won't get help from her. She is very condesending even to people who never miss class and do all the work. It's passable but very time consuming.
If i werent catholic, i would've shot myself in the face allready to get outta her class.
She is a very good instructor and will help anyone if they need it. Coming to class everytime and paying attention helps a lot. I feel that students that don't like her didn't pay attention and didn't come to class. It is not the most exciting class, but you have to take it so just deal with it.
she is a buttface who is rude and teaches things the hardest way possible, i learned later on that the concepts could be worked out much more quickly on a tI-83 calculator
Very rude, vindictive, hateful. Plays favorites. I made a C, which i was actually very happy with. "I dont have time to help you, that's why there's a math lab" is her favorite quote. And then she tries to act all nice at the final. Oh well. At least i just never have to deal with her EVER again. :)
holy moly this woman was nuts! she never helped, and she always looked at you funny if you weren't a favorite. she offered no help, but instead we were to make some stupid appointment when she "wasn't busy" or go to the math lab. i pulled out a B, so if you do ok teaching yourself, then just tune her out in class and read a book ya like!
I am surprised at how many people said thay did not like Ms Hosler because I think she is great! Everyone reccomends her, she is nice, easy paced, and breaks everything down on a level anyone can understand. Those who didnt like her probably never came to class or cracked open the book.

She explains very well and is very willing to help. The office appointments are for ppl who need additional help. I got an A and I suck at math. Go to class & do homework & you will get an A.
i HATE math and i HATE stats, i LOATHE the freaking grad assistants that sat in on the final, right behind me, TALKING THE WHOLE TIME, and i still passed with her help. thank you ms. hosler!
She's very helpful and nice. She does a great job explaining not-so-easy course material. compared to other prob/stat teachers, she's great. gives opportunites for extra credit and the homework she gives is actually helpful, not busy work.
She was a good teacher but moved entirly too fast. She was extremly nice and willing to discuss problems with you whenever possible. I despise math and managed to pass it so if you're willing to put forth some effort you will pass the class.
She knew too much to teach it to someone who know very little about it.

I hated this class and wanted to cry sometimes because I was so clueless. I made a c- and that was just because I did the little things like attending every class and taking all the extra credit I could get. If you love yourself don't take this class.
What the heck is wrong with people? She bends over backwards to make this stuff as easy as possible. If you go in thinking this is going to suck, then you'll suck, but if you go in thinking, she's going to try her darnedest to make this easier than HS Algebra 2 then you'll make A's. Do not listen to the other people, unless you're lazy and dumb
I loved Ms. Hosler. She was a wonderful teacher. VERY helpful. The material is hard but if you go to class and do the homework you will do ok!

She's a great teacher! Be there every day and you get 50 extra points! She tries to keep the class interesting and most of the time she does, but let's face it...it's prob/stats how interesting can it get?! I'm not a math person but I made a B- and I was very satified with my grade. She really cares about the students.
She is ok, Question of the day everday, takes attendence everyday, 3 major exams, average amount of quizes (with very limited time) Class can get pretty boring.
Although attendance is not mandatory, she gives a lot of extra credit when you show up to class. I had this class in high school, so it came easy to me. However, you should do well as long as you apply yourself. She helps if you ask, but she can be very sarcastic. She's probably the best Stats teacher there is.

Tests are fairly hard. Quizzes are mild. She covers LOTS of material VERY QUICKLY! If you come to class and study alot then you might do O.K. Does question of the day - every day - to take attendance - count for extra points.
I do not suggest taking this teacher. She talks way too fast and does not care if you understand. Very Confusing! She says to bring your book, but really does not use the book. Teaches everything her own way and not the way it is in the book.
SHE IS A HORRIBLE TEACHER! Prob and stats is hard enough...her tests are close to impossible! She thinks that this is the only class that we are taking. Unless you LOVE math dont take her! Not to mention she is really RUDE!
she is extremely rude, and a terrible teacher, twice in class today she contradicted herself, and if you ask her a question she answers like she is talking to an idiot. The funny thing is that I feel like I'm a whole lot smarter than she is.
I think she is a good teacher. I failed this class before and had a brillant professor but he couldn't make you understand it. She makes it make sense. She can be a little bit of a smart ass but if you want to pass this class and your serious about doing your part this is the teacher for you.
If word problems have NEVER made any sense to you, try Hosler. A lot of people don't like her, but either a) she'll work for you or b) she won't. I loved her. She takes you step-by-step, and it's like the lightbulb goes on. Not much homework, but don't miss class. Try hard, get as many points as you can, and you'll do fine.

I'm not sure what you guys are talking about. Ms. Hosler is a great teacher. She's very clear and helpful, and if she sounds like she's talking down to you it's because she's trying to help everyone understand. If you can follow instructions and listen, you can pass. It does take work, but that's the class, not the teacher.
I loved Mrs. Hosler! She explains things in great detail which really helps when it comes to test time. Her tests I felt were easy if you went to class everyday read the book and did the assignments. She is only rude to you if she can tell you arent putting your all into the class. She gives multiple bonus oppurnities, recommened! or take mrs. pric
She is a very good teacher. I made an A in the class and I made a B in HS. She will go out of her way to help you if you simply ask. She LOVES having people coming and asking questions during her office hours. She teaches very well and she goes fast, but she uses many examples and covers ALL THE MATERIAL.
Very helpful, especially if you ask for it. She explains everything you will need to know for every worksheet and exam. Make sure to show up to class!!! Muy important! A lot of the work is just busy work, but it's not that bad. just stick with it.
She is very helpful and explains most everything pretty well. At the end of the semester she crams everything in but don't worry if you show up to class, and do all the homework, along with the extra credit you should be just fine. One of the better prob/stats professors.
Grover moves very quick and you absolutley can not miss class. If you have questions she is very willing to help, she also gives a lot of grades but her exams are very very hard. Overall she is an excellent teacher
I had failed prob/stats twice already before taking Hosler. She gives three times the homework of the other teachers, never cancels class, and teaches up until the last minute and even until the last day of dead week. I finally passed with an A-. You have to NEVER MISS a day and do ALL of the hw, but you will pass with her.
I was dreading this class so much, but I did really well thanks to Ms. Hosler. She explains things thoroughly, and was always very helpful when I went to her office with a question. She expects you to give your best effort, but if you do it's really easy to get an A. I hate math, but I still got an A. I would definitely recommend Hosler!
Professor Hosler was very informative and thorough, although at times, it seemed rushed. She is extremely organized and helpful, but you must do your part! Don't miss class because she gives an attendance bonus, turn everything in on time and pay attention in class and you will be fine.
She's really thourough...I went up to Calc in HS, and this class was the easiest class. Hosler gets on my last nerves, but she's super easy as long as you do your homework and at least show up to class. Easy.
I wouldnt recommend anyone to take this class. She goes really fast and she bounces through the chapters.
Hosler makes this course harder than it should be. If you're a math major then take her, she'll teach you a lot. She is very intimidating. She finds joy in making her test tricky so you'll make a right answer, but it's still not right to her. If you hate Math and don't want to try then this is not the class for you.Good luck if you have her though!
She moves extremely fast, I missed one day due to being sick and not only would she NOT let me excuse it, but apparently I missed two chapters in just one day. Her tests are very tricky and she assigns a lot of homework. I would not recommend her.
This was a terrible class. Hosler moved too quickly and did not explain things well. I am generally pretty decent at math but I seriously struggled in this class. The only bright side was that she gave a considerable amount of extra credit.

Mrs. Hosler comes off to be very rude at first but once she knows that you are really trying to learn, she is very nice! She gives you a lot of chances for extra credit you just have to look for them. She will not give you freebees. She will make you work for your grade. I definitely worked for my A. She moves very fast but this is college!
I do not recommend if you aren't that great at math. She moves very fast; there were days we went through multiple chapters in one day. You cannot miss this class or you will be lost. She also does a question of the day EVERYDAY which counts for two points. If you are late by five minutes you are too late and don't even get to do it.

Don't miss class or you will fall behind and lose bonus points she gives for not missing class. Also, if you miss you will lose points for daily quizzes.All in all a good teacher, sometimes it gets a little boring, but it is prob and stats after all. She loves teaching and if you show genuine interest in the subject you will do just fine.
At the beginning, I hated her. But, as the semester went on I realized she is a good teacher and you can learn from her if you put in the effort too. We work together in class often and have many out of class assignments. Minimal homework. She can make you feel stupid sometimes , so most don't ask questions. She loves cats and baseball.
She can be very condescending; if you don't know an answer in class its probably better not to say anything. She offers extra credit, but only to people who are failing. Her grading is harsh. If you want an A I would probably get another professor unless you are prepared to dedicate your life to stats. ALWAYS PAY ATTENTION OR YOU WILL DO POORLY.

She is the toughest professor I have ever had through my college career. You have an assignment dues everyday you are in class. You also have a QOD everyday, so if you don't show up to class you WILL FAIL. Goodluck!!!

She can be very nice and helpful but also come off as rude and snide. Some days I really enjoyed her and some days I hated her. She has very detailed instructions for labs and is always very good at telling you when things are due. Most of her assignments, she gives you until 5:30 to turn it in. She grades tough and uses all of class time.
If you're not the best at math, then do not take this class with this professor.
This professor is a tough one, but if you don't the work and study, you'll pass.
Her class is very hard, especially if you aren't great at math. When asked questions in class, instead of explaining it in an easier way, she just explained it slower which, for some would be helpful but in my case it was not.
Daily QODs for attendance and a grade, lots of Minitab labs, very tough grader. She seems quite condescending when asking a question, but I say to ask it anyways because you're paying for this class. Minitab assignments have very detailed instructions. She's fairly nice if you can look past her condescending-ish tone.
Everyone says terrible things about prob/stats but she made this class really simple. She's not the most personable lady, but she offers a lot of office hours. She also gives a lot of points, and most of the work is simple. Everyone should take her for prob/stats.
Hardest statistics grader
I have dreaded this class since I graduated high school 14 years ago. After a ten year education hiatus, my advisor recommended I take it and get it out of the way. I cried, but Ms. Hosler is excellent. She's very thorough and at time she dry and tough. She managed to make math which was a miserable subject, tolerable and at times enjoyable!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I had to force myself to even go for the sake of my grade. She wonders why everyone fails her test, its because she teaches the hardest way to do things, and anytime a question is asked her comment back is never just an answer, its more of a roast. she is rude and i do not recommend enrolling in this course with her.
Susan Hosler is VERY RUDE. Anytime you have a question, she answers it condescendingly. She is a tough grader & takes points off of your assignments for things you can help like it being "wrinkled" or "soiled" if there is something on it. She never gives you full credit on anything. If she doesn't like you, your grade will reflect that.
VERY VERY VERY RUDE!!! I do NOT recommend her at all! Grades very harshly and if you ask a question she looks at you like you are stupid. She took 3 points off of my paper for the corner being wrinkled. The very first paper she gave on the FIRST DAY OF CLASS she commented that I should look into getting a tutor.
She is a very tough grader. Takes points off the Minitab and lab assignments for the dumbest reasons (example: didn't write down name on the correct line). Her style of teaching doesn't go well with me; I have no clue what she is teaching half the time. She doesn't like students asking certain questions during class "go see me in my office".
If you want a chance to catch up on your sleep, take her. I love math, but she has made me hate this more than anything. Hosler is not really clear about what she talks about because she rambles on and on about topics that don't even relate to what you'll be talking about in class. To be 100% honest, she makes it more difficult than needed to be.
Hosler is one of the hardest teachers I've had for any subject. All of the people I asked said the class was ridiculously hard, and more often than not I had difficulty in understanding my notes I took during lectures. The homework she gives is ALL on the computer in Minitab, which doesn't help AT ALL on the final.

Hosler was one of the most condescending, rude, human beings i have ever met. She was arrogant and treated her students as if they were way below her. She would leave comments on my assignments such as "Wrong, where did this even come from" or "maybe you should study harder". She deducts points for wrinkles in papers. TAKE A DIFFERENT INSTRUCTOR.
Hosler is a tough teacher for freshman level classes. Don't take her unless you're prepared to work outside of class and figure some topics out for yourself. I took statistics in high school and I still struggled a bit. You MUST come to class to make a decent grade. Seek help outside of the classroom, because she will not waste time on questions.

Mrs. Holser is def a character. I think she is an okay teacher but sometimes she comes off as rude. Most of the people in my class are scared to ask her a question because she makes you feel stupid. Professor Hosler is a good math teacher. I usually understand everything she lectures on. Unfortunately, she can be pretty difficult at times and kind of rude. She lectures the whole class period and sometimes over. She does give some chances for extra credit. I can totally understand why not many people like her. I would try to get someone else...

Attendance is always mandatory. A quiz every time you come to class. Condescending, rude, and OCD. Counts off points for creases in papers. If you aren't ready to put in all your effort don't take her class, you won't pass. She moves fast through lectures and will start a new chapter with 5 minutes of class left.
Hosler makes everything harder than it needs to be. No access to grades without stopping by her office. No updates. Rude and condescending to students. Students struggling do not bother her. Recommendation is to not take her class. Be prepared to use YouTube ALOT for extra help and to be clueless about what your grades might be.
Hosler lectures every day right up to the end of class if not a little after. She's very condescending towards students and loves to be right. She is a TOUGH grader on MiniTab assignments and other homework. Don't talk over her in lecture and turn your work in on time you should be fine. Also, she likes to hide bonus points so keep an eye out!

Mrs hosler is an all around bad person. I was in class once and my classmate started having a seizure and mrs hosler continued the lesson. She also just cant really teach in general. She talks in circles and is very hard to follow.
Hosler is an awful professor. She lectures from the start of class and over at the end of class. One of my classmates had a seizure, and she did not stop teaching. She hates the idea of anyone or anything to take away from her lectures. She gives homework every week and she is very hard to follow during lectures.

She will talk down to you and expects you to understand the material like you've been studying statistics for five years. Mind you, this is an intro to stats class. In the Spring 19 semester, a student had a seizure and she kept on lecturing like nothing had happened. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.
In the beginner stats class, she expects you to understand everything being discussed as soon as it has been discussed. In the classroom she is rude and speaks down, but if you go to her office to get help, she is very nice and helps.

She is rude, Misleading, and the minitab assignments have to be perfect down to the amount of pages it takes up. I don't mind the amount of work but she is not lenient at all. There is also very little ways to contact her. She leaves relatively early every day and she has no wifi at home and refuses to discuss anything over email. Hated her class.
Most of the other ratings here are correct (i.e. Starting a new chapter with less than 5 minutes of class left, strict, and class "must go on".) HOWEVER, if I approached her during office hours, she was more than willing to catch me up and help. I wouldn't outright avoid her, but being a sponge is cruicial. Be good at math if you take her.
If you are planning on taking probability and statistics with this teacher, do not. Take it with any other teacher. She does not give good feedback, her tests are hard, she does not explain the material well, and makes you buy a textbook that you do not even need just to earn some of the points in the class. Overall, do not take this professor.
I knew going into this class that it would be difficult. However, this instructor made it absolutely horrible. I haven't learned a single thing this year, honestly. She is a very tough grader and is extremely particular about your assignments. Do NOT let your homework answers go onto a different page, she'll take point off. Worst instructor ever.
She is a rude person and will call anyone out if they disrupt class in any way even if its unintentional. She belittles anyone who asks a question. BUT, if you meet her during office hours she is a different person, much nicer. I would never take her again but if you have too... go to her office immediately and just make an impression.
