Wull, Kamp isn't the greatest professor but she does a very good job of explaining the material. I found her tests difficult due to lack of time. Midterms: 50 questions in 60 minutes. Final: 100 questions in 120 minutes. I find her ok and am registered in her Econ 102 class for next semester.
Wow so boring! I would go to class with an understanding and lose it before the class was over! Here notes are good but she isn't! And she doesn't know how to say rather. That being said I had her again for 102 because I knew what to expect and that going to class wasn't mandatory.
come on guys, she's the queen of econ 101 and 102. See how many 100 level econ classes she's teaching? She's almost like a monopoly of 100 leve econ! I am now in my forth year now, I still clearly remember the stuff she taught in 101& 102. I think she's good at teaching, just not interesting enough to trap your attention.
I found this class extremely boring! Kamp is very repetitive and I found myself using this class for nap time... that is when i forced myself to go. I would not recommened her class if you can avoid it! Her tests are difficult as when, just because of the time she gives.

omg...sooo boring...she just drones on and on aimlessly...well not aimlessly, but you still get SOME stuff learned...below avg rating i would say... _-_
Kind of a dull class but the notes make sense.

She does what can, tries her best, and its good enough to pass. Big class, obviously plenty of dumbasses fail and complain about how bad she is. Good notes, decent tests, decent assignments. Easy A
I don't know what half these people are talking about. If she's so boring then just don't go to class. Her online notes are so good you don't even have to lay eyes on her once. With the amount of resources Kamp gives you you'd have to either not try at all or be retarded to fail this class.
Zzzz... Best nap class ever, notes and textbook are so clear that you don't have to go to class to get an A, anyone writing bad things about Kamp is just too lazy/stupid to study for her extremely easy exams, good nap times, zzz
Has****ty notes, and talks about the engine of the car, and the performance of the car. Take it with Lee.

kamp was a good prof. She cant help it that the material that needs to be tought in econ 101 is a little dry. She uses useful examples and is one of the most helpful and accessible profs i have had. Class is not hard just put in time studying all the resources she gives you. Seems like she genuinely wants you to do well
Oh dear, 100 questions in 2 hrs, are you kidding me?
Unfortunately Professor Kamp is not a very good teacher. When you ask her questions she just repeats herself, or if its online she just refers you to the very class notes confusing you. Furthermore she is poor at speaking and articulating properly. Just study the book, I got an A that way.
Lectures are incredibly borring, half the class is asleep. 50 questions in 1 hr for each midterm kinda sucks, but not too bad. The final was harder than the midterms. Lecture notes are all on the internet, but are a little confusing. It would be nice if she could pronounciate properly. IT'S PRONOUNCED RATHER NOT ROTHER.
this class was so BORING! every class i attended, there were atleast 5 people within close proximity asleep. Her lectures are boring, to say the least. first midterm was easy, second was harder, and the final was pretty hard. going to lectures is pretty pointless, first off they are boring as hell, second you can print the notes of her site
Her notes were easy to follow. Her examples helped clarify concepts. She talked alot and got rather boring at times.Overall she was a pretty good professor.
Classes painfully boring, hated how quizzes covered material not yet covered in class, to much reliance on the internet, caused many problems when the server frequently crashed.
BAD! just give us some examples damnit and maybe we'll listen! Dont make economics into a novel! Eg: your car engine and apples in a basket theory is LAME ms kamp. talks in MONOTONE that u just want to sleep. Her tests are ridiculous (100 questions in 2hrs). Her notes are boring and confusing just as she is.
Worst class ever. Kamp could suck the fun out of a class called Fun 101.

well,i quite like her...her classes are really boring...so is her voice..but i find her notes are easy to follow. but seriously...she gives way to many questions on the midterms and final
Her classes are boring and not nescesscary to do well in the course. Plus her voice makes it hard to understand and doesn't help that she repeats the same thing over and over again either.
She is pretty boring. He monotone voice makes me fall asleep almost every class :( and the class is at noon time too... But her exams are really fair and her assignments are easy and worth a lot so its worth it if you spend a lot of time doing them. The exams have a lot of questions so make sure you do them fast!
You have to be a complete idiot not to do well in her class. She gives out all her old finals and midterms complete with answers, and she practically lives on the message boards helping students. All notes are online as well. She gives students everythin you could possibly need to succeed.Thats a bonus cuz then you don't need to go to class. She rocks!
BORING, BORING, BORING! She can't change her exam's bank of questions, so she keep trying to just TWIST the questions, to confuse u! not helpful at all! never get to the answer of the question that u ask straight even if u r done w/ ur ass't of exam, still she thinks if sha gave u the answer, u r gonna ace the course! her classes = SLEEPING PILL!
Oh my god, can u get a better sleeping pill more useful than susan kamp. The material is actually very easy for econ 101 and 102, but she makes it so confusing and hard for exam. Dont bother asking her questions, she will not answer you clearly. Definitely one of the worst prof for economics.
It's pretty hard to do poorly on the exams given that Dr. Kamp provides several practise midterms, a compilation of old assignments to practise off of, webCT discussion board, online notes, and the text book. I did not think she was too boring and the exams were fair.
really boring, class attendance is definitely not mandatory. Plus it is hard to sit through a class without people watching, or texting, or leaving.
Horrible lecturer that has the ability to lengthen a class indefinitely. The great online resources provided makes it easy to ace the course even if you'd ROTHER not go to class and minimize your sunk costs. Lecture is just a read-aloud of the notes, which are decent. Examples are somewhat repetitive, and not very illustrative.
no worries about the course..SO easy! but the prof..wow..dont even bother going. she gives you so many resources, there's no need to go to her painfully boring lectures and listen to the whirr of the flourescent lights...
She's not that bad but kind of boring, I think its more the subject then anything
the class is pretty brutal. if you're going to go, you may want to pass the time by keeping a tally of the number of times she says ROTHER.
boring class, bring a pillow and some homework to keep yourself occupied. The course gets hard half way thru so if your not going, make sure you keep on top of the readings! If you do go to class you can distract yourself by counting the number of times she says "um" or "uhh" or "rother" if she tested on that i'd get an a+ for sure!
You can't complain about this class. What's wrong with a class you don't even have to go to to get a good mark? It's all in her Web CT notes and the text. Boring lectures are a complete waste of time.

Very boring, but helpful Aplia assignments that keep you up with the class.
she was a nice lady, but her class was unbelievably boring. she wasted so much time repeating herself and stuttering.
She's awful.****!!!!
I am suprsied no one has commented on how she says "advertisment". I had to sound it out in my head about 10 times to figure out what damn word she was talking about. By than i pretty much zoned out into my usual staring at the 1/10 of the class that comes. susan is very irratating and this class is actually retarded.
TRANSFER OUT OF HER CLASS!! if u cant theres no point going she just reads her powerpoints... VERY SLOWLY she repeats EVERYTHIG.The midterms are based on text. Her powerpoints and text dont match soo just read textbook and if ur lucky you'll get a descent mark

She isn't as bad as people say. Yes she is mean when answering questions she just really hates dumb questions. Her test are okay and there are lots of examples online. study lots and you will be okay. She is really accessible though.
if you can withstand boring lectures and take advantage of online notes, she'll be okay. But beware, her lectures are zombifiying.
Probably the worst prof at the universtiy. I would rather each pig **** than attend her lectures, well maybe not but close. The most boring person alive, not the least bit helpful, totally useless. Just read the textbook, which isn't to horrible, dont go to class(you'll just fall asleep), do the online exams and you'll be fine. SO BORING
She knows what she's talking about, but you won't care because you WILL fall asleep. No doubt. But the class itself isnt too bad, the online stuff is ROTHER helpful.
Save yourself the grief and don't go to lecture unless you're having problems with course material. She does know what she's talking about, but her voice just puts you to sleep. Her midterms and final are really easy as long as you read the textbook.
Super helpful and knows her stuff. She always answers her e-mails/message board. She offers per-exam question/answer sessions. Very straight forward, just keep up with the assignments and you'll do great!
ugh boring.....soooooo boring......bring pillow, nevermind u wont need it u could sleep on nails this class is so boring, kamp will make u wish u were dead hehehe, maybe alittle strong, just dont take this class, or at least just dont go to the lectures, just read the textbook, which as boring as it it is still not as boring as she is.
Such a boring class, and the lectures are useless. Just get the text book, do the assignments and write the exams. Boring lame examples used in class and everyone is either sleeping or talking.
Terribly boring professor. Gets angry pretty easily. Do the readings, read her notes, and you'll do fine on Aplia. If you do the above, don't bother going to class. Second midterm was way harder than the first one, so be warned.
OMG..she is the most borinest proff ever!:/ sometimes, she cant even talk properly..and gets tongue twisted in her words..NEVER take econ with skamp. But she's like the only teacher that teaches econ aside from Gorden Lee..class=ZzZzzZzzz..
Ugh stay away from Susan Kamp...unless u are desperate for a good sleep, cause this class will put u to sleep in seconds. Painfully boring, she knows her stuff but is totally useless at teaching it. The Aplia program is horrible. Avoid her at all costs, how she is still allowed to teach is beyond me..horrible prof.
descent prof
Stay away from this proffessor if possible. The class itself is very easy if you read the text. But, the lectures will put you to sleep in five minutes. Also, if you manage to stay awake her lectures are not very clear and she tends to ramble on once her point has been made.
The lectures are utterly useless. You are given assignments on material that is covered in future classes, so you end up learning the (very easy) course by yourself. As well, her PowerPoints are available online, so you end up with a free hour in your day.
NICE lady. knows her stuff. I mean, seriously, how hard would it to be to keep 300+ people interested in the most BORING subject of all time?! incredibly bad subject. Never taking it again; but not because of her. She was alright.. not a bad lecturer.
Her lecture was a good opportunity to goof around. I paid attention to her lectures at first, but it soon became clear there was no point. Read the text, do the assignments on Aplia, and do her practice tests to study. Her lectures are useless.
Lectures are boring and very hard to pay attention. Everything you need to know is in the textbook. DO ONLINE PRACTICE EXAMS. Lots of questions from them appear on the midterms and the final.
Coming to class in the morning literally killed me inside. I highly recommend to seek out ANY other possible professor. Econ 101/102 are not difficult courses, so don't be concerned. But you will hate economics for the rest of your life is you enroll in Skampenomics. Just don't do it.
Classes are completely useless, but you should do okay studying at home. Very helpful if you approach her, but the trick is to do alot of practice exams
Aplia is helpful. She answers questions online very quickly. However her lectures...BORRRRRRRRIIINNGGGGGGGGG!!
Her lectures were clear but somewhat uninteresting. She was definitely willing to help out with any questions outside of class. Aplia was also a pretty helpful program. Overall not a bad professor, though you could probably do better as well.
Very boring class, I recomend counting how many time she says Rother, last semester i got to 49 even though i missed alot of classes. Econ is an easy A if you read the textbook and do all the practice exams.
Had her for Econ 101 and 102. She is very dull to listen to. She does know her stuff very well but i think her teeaching method is poor and extremely boring. By the end of the year only 1/4 of the students still attended class. Required to read almost entire textbook and have weekly assignments due Sunday nights. Avoid if possible
She is the worst speaker ever. Very monotone and unenthusiastic. Avoid her if possible.
If her boring lecture style and cracking voice don't render you comatose she's actually a good prof. But you need to teach yourself material to complete the weekly assignments, which includes a thorough reading of the sleeping pill textbook. There were lots of good practice questions on Aplia, and if q's were unreasonable she's take them off exams

I really do like her style of teaching. I feel she makes the material very easy to understand. And I find this course very enjoyable- almost made me consider switching from Engineering!
Amazing teacher, I enjoyed it thoroughly. Easy Tests, easy assignments, easy on the eyes ;)
Honestly, easy class if you do the APLIA and practice midterms. If it wasn't for the textbook, I'll probably fail. But seriously, Skamperomics is stronger than cyanide.
Going to class is a waste of time. Her voice annoys me especially when she says "RAAAHTERRR" and "Perdaction". Nice lady, easy assignments just read the textbook day of assignment and you are guaranteed 90%. Her tests are easy. Kinda reminds me of Moe off the Simpsons
Oh Skamp. Although her lectures will put you to sleep, her tests are fair and easy. And she lets u go early from class. However, she likes to point out people who are talking in class and make them apologize. Really funny in a class of 300.
Utterly pointless lectures. Generally it's an accepted practice to teach material before having students do assignments on that material - not with her. She will go over what was on the Aplia assignments AFTER the assignment which means THERE IS NO POINT TO GO TO CLASS! Read the textbook, read her online notes. One of the worst classes ever!
She likes her class, but it is the most boring class ever. she teaches out of the book, so use it. Aplia is horrible, she teaches you how to answer the questions after there due. Haven't heard any better about other econ profs, so just suffer through it if you have to take the class like I did. Midterm one easy, two harder.
Her lectures are fairly useless as you do not need to go to them. She at times has problems speaking, constantly stuttering. The textbook is probably the only solid bit of infomation your going to get, and she asks questions mainly off her own notes for her midterms. So don't just study the textbook. In terms of going over Aplia, she does it 2 lect
she's really dry, pretty hard to follow. I remember one time when i was in her lecture, I slept over her entire class, and I missed my other lectures as well.Compared to Gordan Lee man, she has an absolute advantage on the midterm easiness, but the final broke my rule.
extremely boring lectures but assignments and tests are easy. read the textbook for the assignments and read her notes/do practice exams for tests and you will do fine
She gives lectures based on past aplia assignments, which is annoying, so class is pointless. She is mildly entertaining though when someone's cell phone rings, but other then that she is boring. Nice lady, and more than willing to help if need be though. Fair exams... definitely do your assignments and read the text book in addition to her note
Well she certainly was easy on the eyes. That really made it easy...A+ no joke lol
It is hard to stay attentive during these lectures
She gives all the tools necessary to succeed. Her ppt notes aren't great, and class is extremely dry, monotone and boring. She makes the subject uninteresting, but it is easy if you read the textbook and do the aplia assignments. Her exams are also extremely easy if you have done some practice ones...only the words and numbers are changed sometimes
Definitely easy. I slept thru and/or skipped 50% of the lectures and still got an A+. I like her teaching style because it's straightforward, easy... and you don't need to go to lectures if you don't want to because all the material provided will still guarantee good marks if you study it :)
Very knowledgeable prof. Willing to help you if you seek it. Very monotonous and dull speaker, I fell asleep more than a few times. Class was very easy until after first midterm then it got a bit harder. Exams are fair and not difficult if you study. If you get her thats fine, if you dont thats also fine.
She is OK
Very monotonous and boring. You can skip the lecture and do well. If you get her then either don't bother going to class and study the online notes, or try for a different prof.
NO COMMENTS AT ALL
know what a waste of time and money her class is. The web based required questions poorly correlate with the text book making self education difficult, she lectures 1 week behind the online assignments making them that more difficult & making attending class pointless since you have to teach yourself, & She's painful listen to. Just read the book.
JARGON JARGON JARGON....ROTHER ROTHER ROTHER. Just some of the fun words you get to hear ~653 times per class. Skamper is a joke....a complete joke. I'm in class right now and I see... hmm 1/3 the class? Skamp Skamp Skamp.... when will you learn!?
Ppl say to avoid the skamper but shes really a good prof.Dont u ppl realize that by makin u do the assignnment ahead of time ,u'll understand whats going on?But no one ever shows up because they think they know it all.Which helps u in the end if u do go to class because she points out important stuff that'll be on the tests.go to her help sessions!
Do not take her class. She is so boring and makes microeconomics a death sentence
My feeling are mixed. While she is clear and concepts make sense, the fact she lectures after the assignment that go with the notes I find a bit unfair. I would say take her but be warned
Susan Kamp is the teaching equivalent of a drive by shooting.AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Well uhm. uhh. urr. Macro umm Economics with Susan umm Kamp is uhh. Uhh, painful!! She stutters like every 25 times a minute. She also emphasizes word that have no need to be emphasized. She actually knows her stuff and tries to teach well but its impossible to listen to her talk. Tests are OK if you study the notes and do assignments.
What can you say about Skamp? While I did find listening to her lectures rather painful at times, she obviously knows what she's talking about and is a very nice person. Personally, I found her exams fair. TONS of previous midterms/finals to do beforehand which tend to be the best way of studying as some questions and formats are recycled.
I'll keep it simple. I went to 4 classes this year: first and second day, day before a midterm, and the last day when a guy in a superman costume ran thru the class. Don't go to class; read her current notes, and the text book. Read next weeks notes to be able to answer the homework. Tests are easy if you study, but SHE WILL BORE YOU TO DEATH
Can't pronounce words like "rather". Gives homework that requires pre-reading then teaches everything you need to know in following three lectures. Useless to attend lectures if you did the homework.
Really not a good class. Her dialect is really distracting, and the classes cover information that you have already been tested on in assignments. Notes are all online, but pretty useless. She uses multiple terms for one thing, which can lead to confusion. Not really necessary to go to class unless you want to be annoyed.
She's really not THAT bad. Her lectures are boring... ya we get it, then don't attend! You'll do fine as long as you read either the textbook or the notes. Exams are fair. Her Q&A sessions are quite helpful if u have specific questions. Would take class w/ her again.
Susan has a dry lecture but her material is extremely easy. You DO NOT need to go to class in order to get a good grade (at least not for ECON 101, 102)
I thought people were exaggerating when they said she was terrible. She's very boring. As long as you do the assignments and the practice exams and you'll be fine.
er..um..uh...ah... If that's what you want to here for an hour during her lectures take her class. Other than that assignments are easy. Don't bother going to class, stay home, read the text and you'll do fine.
She puts a lot of effort into redefining the meaning of the word boring.
Rother (rAther). Her class is very boring, and the lectures are just a restatement of the things which you have to preread in order to do the aplia assignments.
Tends to ramble on about information that is not important and can be quite rude
While her lectures are sometimes tedious, she leaves no possible excuses for getting a poor mark in the class. It is sometimes frustrating 're-learning' material and the class is rather slow paced, but she certainly puts in the effort to make things interesting for you. The choice to attend class is up to you, as she posts all her notes on Aplia.
Overall an easy class. Dust is probably running through her veins but her Online notes are crystal clear and very useful so you can learn everything without going to class.(I went to two lectures for econ 101 and 102) If you go to class shes useless and you will fall asleep. My advice take her class and buy the textbook..youll get an A
Although she's sometime monotonous and emphasises the wrong parts of words, (LI-abili-TIES) she knows what the hell she's talking about and its pretty simple once you get the hang of it.
She does not teach you the course, you teach yourself. She covers the material that is on the weekly assinments AFTER they are due I do not reccomend this proffesor.
Okay, go to her class if you want to end up... "STUDENT COMMITS SUICIDE AFTER ATTENDING SUSAN KAMP'S ECONOMICS CLASS" ... She is the worst professor in the world!!!! The class, however, is VERY easy if you (I went to 2 classes) teach yourself. Her notes are good enough and the textbook is your best friend. The lady is swimming in cobwebs...I got A!
If you must take this class do not go to the lecture. You are better off reading the notes and the textbook as both are really helpful. As well she teaches the material in assignments after they are due which is completely useless. I would not recommend this professor.
Had her for 101 and 102, don't know why people are ripping her. She is awesome. I didn't go to class, didn't buy the text, all I did was read the notes b4 tests and assignments. She is super easy and you don't need to go to class. I got an A and I went to 3 classes! 1.midterm1 2. Midterm2 3. the final. Easy easy prof.
Do NOT go to class. Just do the online assignments and read the textbook. She is rOther boring. The class goes something like this: Sit down and listen for about 4 minutes. Zone out for about 20 minutes. pay back attention enough to hear Ummm..uhhh, 8 times and the word jargon, drift back off for the last 25 minutes.
Generally very good. The e-learning strategy is very effective if you are a self-starter. The early lectures are slow-paced, but they get more interesting and in-depth as the course progresses. Strongly recommended.
A TERRIBLE professor. The lectures are useless, she's a terrible lecturer and overall the notes and assignments she gave were awful as well.
very interesting to watch do lectures. very knowldegeable but tough tough tests.
Don't listen to all the people out there who lie to you and tell you she's good - she's boring as heck. The lectures are lame. Still worth your time to go, but it includes a lot of zoning out and getting annoyed by how she talks. If you read the notes and do the homework you'll do fine, but you will learn to hate economics by the semesters end.
She is not really that bad. (may be a bit boring) Why do the student rate her so low? Midterm and final are straight forward, but final is too long (100mc). The exam is easier than Gordon lee's class.
Her tests are impossible, unless you are an economist.
Econ 101 is a class you do not have to show up for. Exams are STRAIGHT out of the textbook and the prof posts lots of old midterms and finals which should serve as ample prep. If you read the textbook and finish the assignments and do at least half of her old midterms/finals, you are practically given an A. I got an A+ without showing to one class.
She looks like Moe from the simpsons. Her lectures are very boring, be sure to do the Aplia homework and read the book.. because her exams are based on that.
Her classes are boring. However, she posts up midterms, practice midterms, final exames, home work scores etc. really fast. The Text book is very helpful. A great prof in general, she trys to make the class fun but always fail. :)
Her classes are boring. However, she posts up Course Materials very fast. Resiponsible. The text book is more useful compare to her explaination in my opinion.
she was extremely boring, but her exams were very easy! never went to class, read the text book (which was way more interesting than her lectures), did aplia, did her practice exams - easy A
Very boring lectures! says umms and ahhs every couple of words! I would suggest a different proff! However if you read the text book and do the assignments you dont have to go to class and will most likely pass the course.
I went the first class and found out that she's basically reading her online notes. So I litereally didn't go to any of her classes after the first day. Still managed to get A studying her notes. Her exams are easy but you have to be a fast reader since she gives like 50 questions for an hour exam.
absolutely dreaded class, the weekly assignment due sunday at 10pm and eventho its not the most difficult class u find yourself not wanting to even look at the notes at the end of the year to study... ugh... but im sure some of it is the class and not all SKamp
Attendance isn't really necessary and the class was pretty easy.
I am really bad at economics, so i found this class difficult, and her exams were really tricky. However, regardless, Susan Kamp is the worst professor I have ever had. While the fact that her classes are useless is kind of nice, since it frees up your schedule, she does not utilize time effectively and is my most boring and useless professor yet
Do not take any class from skamp. she is by far the worst instructor i have had in my 15 years of schooling. no point in going to class, and her online notes arent very good either. she is very unhelpful and makes students very uncomfortable when they ask for help. stay away from skamp at all costs. she's just plain awful.
People here are giving a fairly good representation of Kamps class. Its boring as heck, but makes for a great nap time. The class is usually really easy, but weekly assignments can be really lame on the weekend. Tests aren't too bad, but 100 questions in 2 hours can really suck. Kamp is really annoying, but you just deal with it and its fine.
She is very hard to listen to, but she is clear and understandable. Notes are pretty good. Assignments aren't bad. HERE IS THE PROBLEM - her tests are 50 questions in 60 minutes and 100 in 2 hours (with some long readings and questions that are weirded very awkwardly and confusingly) WHY?!!! Not a good indicator of students knowledge. just rushing!
The fact that the online assignments are based on upcoming material makes it pointless to go to class. But the couple classes I did go to, she did practice problems, and explained the material just a little too thoroughly (15min+ on 1 slide!). OK prof, ridiculously easy class. Especially since the practice tests are near copies of the real ones.
Took 101 and 102 with her. Got A's in both. She instructs about a thousand people per semester, and does so efficiently. Both 101 and 102 follow the same pattern for learning; DO APLIA. I would sit with her notes and the book doing aplia making sure I got every question right. By doing only that you guarantee yourself a good mark on the tests.
There is literally no point of going to class, I showed up to the first 10 minutes of the first class to grab the syllabus, never saw her face again and finished with an A+. Just study the notes she posts online, do one of the practice exams she posts online and your good to go.
Take the class with Gordon Lee, it will be a lot harder but you will actually learn something. Susan Kamp is just simply not a good prof. She wants to be helpful but really just isn't.
First of all, try not to get stuck with her, every other econ prof is better. Secondly if you do get stuck with her, Aplia assignments are easy and you don't really have to go to class (lectures are unhelpful and she posts the notes anyways). Make sure you do all the practice tests before every midterm and final as she recycles questions a lot.
I personally think she is a great prof. I took econ 101 and 102 classes with her and enjoyed both of them. She is always willing to help you one on one and responds to emails regularly. Recommend taking her class.
She was one topic behind the assignment. So you would have to do the assignment then she would teach it to you.
shes actually not as bad as everyone says. But i must say attendance is a waste of time. as long as u read the text book and do practice exams you'll do fine
I made an account just to rate her. I find that she is extremely rude to students, a couple of students asked questions today during our lecture, and she gave them some dirty looks and then proceeded to speak to them as if they just asked her what 1+1 equals. She acts as if you asking her a question is a waste of her time.
Very Pronounced, Almost annoying voice. There's no way you could blame failing this course on her though.
Her lectures were 2 weeks behind the assignments, making them virtually irrelevant. good question periods though, nice enough lady, but lectures were pretty useless
Incredibly boring, has a droning, monotone voice-I thought she had some enthusiasm in her voice but really her drone just changes volume-ugh.
There is no point attending her classes whatsoever! Just go home, read the text and do the assignments. ALSO, the assignments and exams are in no way shape or form similar. All you need for assignments is a normal brain. For exams, you NEED to read the text! Classes wont do you any good! Catching up on sleep would be a better option!
Terrible prof. No need whatsoever to attend class, I got an A without going to ANY classes. Read the text and go through posted practice exams (they are exactly the same as exam format) Cleared up some time in my schedule. Recommended if like learning on own
Class was hard to attend seeing as how I was put to sleep all the time. Read the textbook and study the charts in the book as well. Very monotone voice but she does know what she's talking about.
so terrible, the textbook is useless!!
I say clarity is low because her voice is SO ANNOYING that it is impossible to concentrate. You hear her talk, and then you just start thinking about how much pain your ears are in. The class is easier than high school courses, it's almost entirely common sense, just learn a few terms and you're golden. Didn't open the textbook once. Useless class.
I thought that this class was an esay class to get an A in. I thought that it was actually very interesting and easy to understand. I recommend doing all the practice mid terms and practice finals as they use the same exact questions on the actual test. TAKE THIS CLASS!
Kamp is a boring prof...i never really pay attention just cuz she is so boring and monotone. But....it is easy to get a good grade in her class because her exams are textbook based. So, if you read the textbook, you will do just fine!
Susan was a good prof, just the class was extremely boring and there's nothing interesting about it. I don't know why everyone hates her. As long as you read the book and do the practice questions its an easy class to excel in.
She's an amazing prof and knowledgable, but boring. Does A LOT of examples in class, which I found helpful. Assignment were due on Sunday, and sometimes would include material from the next chapter that wasn't covered yet. If you had any problems, you could post on the discussion board and she (or a TA) would help out.
Only went to about 4 classes and still did well. Going to class is completely unnecessary. She is very rude and annoying but her exams are basically copies of the practice finals she puts online. TAKE THIS CLASS.
The best part of this class is that you dont have to go. She is a pretty good teacher and knows her stuff but she is really boring. If you read the book and do the practise tests you are golden for an A. Basically take this class it's one of those classes where you can pull of an A with one day of studying!
Very good prof - knows her stuff. Does a lot of examples in class which are very useful. Posts a lot of past exams and tells you to do them as she reuses some questions. Aplia assignments are easy marks. Do the assignments and practice exams and you'll do well.
I went to two classes and got an A+. Material is really dry though (i hated it). Still, just memorize her notes and do all her practice exams and assignments and youll get an easy A at least
I agree with other people---you dont need to go to the class, and you can also get a good grade if you pay attention on the online homework.
Like everyone else has stressed, going to class is just pointless. Her lectures are dry and boring (plus listening to her talk is grating). Just read the book, do all the Aplia assignments, do as many of her practice mid-terms/finals as you can, and you're guaranteed an A.
I don't understand why people are so negative about her. Yes, her class is very dry and boring but if you want an easy class with a good grade, take her class. Honestly, her exams are VERY EASY.
Simply stated: easiest A. Though I went to nearly every class, I never opened the textbook, and the only studying I did was one or two practice exams the night before each mid-term and the final. That said, she is definately knowledgeable and actually a pretty nice lady. Take her if you're in a prerequisite, not if you're passionate about economics
She always made me sleepy during her lecture. I didn't do well in this course because i skipped too many classes i guess. Anyways, I don't she is that bad, so I have chosen to take another course of her next term.
Susan Kamp is not a bad professor, but she does, unfortunately, have a rather monotone way of delivering her lectures. You can get an A+ by either reading the notes or attending class. For serious, you don't need to do both as long as you're attentive.
Overall, good prof, she's knowledgeable about her craft and her lectures are well organized and fairly straight forward, unfortunately she isn't the most exciting prof, she's very monotonic and it's easy to find your self day dreaming in her class, but as long as you review the notes when you get home, you;ll do well.
She's not that bad, but her exams are ridiculous. Do her sample exam.. like ALL OF THEM.
Expect extremely boring lectures, half because the material is fairly easy and she explains it to you like your in high school, and half because she talks like the teacher from Charlie Brown. Just use your textbook and do the assignments and sample exams and you'll do just fine.
just not easy but not hard....anyway average class
Our last class ended with an applause for Prof Kamp. Attended all her lectures tho her notes in pdf/pptx r on eclass. Easier 2 understand the notes if attend. Her exams can be tough(short time) but there's plenty of example exams. x use the textbook, her notes r OK. Kinda old and not funny, not unfunny either. I didn't even notice she's monotone!
take the class, dont go to class, get a good grade. works for me
This is not a good class. Not worth going to class and exams are at night. to make things worse her last midterms is always the last one and it really late. Run away if possible
One of the worst classes I have taken. Even though she is helpful during office hours her class is boring and she doesn't even teach you the calculations. With her theory questions they make no sense and can be taken many different ways. This class is not worth waking up for you would be better to take the 8AM class instead of one of hers
Not a very good prof, but she is helpful during office hours. This class is so boring you are better to take the class offered at 8 in the morning. Her test questions make no sense and can be taken many different ways.
Very boring lecture and dry content. Not necessarily hard, just not interesting. Test averages are too high (~73%)considering it's curved. She's OKAY, the class itself is just boring. She also has weekly online assignments, which are barely related to the test content. It's an easy class though if you sufficiently study and know the material.
Class is boring, but a little bit helpful, don't have to use the textbook, just do practice homework and practice exams, and u should be fine with graded homework and exams.
I will never go Kamping again.. Attendence isn't mandatory at all. Just print her notes and you'll be good.
Avoided her lectures at all costs. The few times I went, her grating voice and endless rambling bored me. Her midterms are pretty straightforward, but the final was ridiculous. Her notes are garbage and make no sense. Aplia assignments cover a lot of material that hasn't even been taught. Plus, she's condescending and unhelpful on message boards.
dont click the enroll button for this class! Skamp means well but can come off very rude/boring at times. The boring content of the course combined with her means of teaching were not a good mixture. Two midterms (both easy, do ALL practice exams). Final was brutally hard and 100 MC in two hours was not easy with her kind of questions
It's funny because the silouette in the "no photo" spot looks exactly like her.
I like her so much. Many students said that her class is boring, but I have to say there is no funny economic class... She speaks clearly, and she always uses examples to clarify her sentence. Also, her help session is quite useful...I only went there once!Exams are not hard if you practice enough and understand the practice. GOOD LUCK!
Super easy class, extremely boring to attend would just recommend never going and reading your textbook you will save yourself from boring lectures and probably do a lot better.
Classes didn't follow a logical path and didn't refect the assignments but learning from the text book was easy, which was from Aplia.
Fixates on meaningless metaphors. Constantly says umm.
Uses pointless examples in class that make no sense, you're honestly better off just reading your textbook/reading powerpoints off of Aplia. Her lectures are dry and boring.Constantly say's umm/indeed. Her practice midterms/actual midterms have mistakes..when you email her asking for clarification she contradicts the correct answer. Not reccomanded
Boring class, no one even shows up anymore. All she does is take things straight from the text book. You don't really learn anything by attending her class.
One of the useless teachers in the department. She does not know how to teach. The lecture is so boring that half of the students choose not go to her class. textbook is like a garbage, this is the worst eco text i have ever read.tests are inrelevant for the course.some questions just do not make sense.she use to many THAT in the lecture.10times/min.
constantly says "ummm" and the ever so annoying "raaaaaaaaaaather". her lectures don't really seem to have any flow to them... just kind of jumps around from one thing to another. the examples she uses usually made little to no sense and uses to many examples instead of clearly explaining the concepts.
She loves to say "umm", "raaather" and "jargon". I don't even know why I attend. Most boring class ever! Her examples and notes are awful, and the exams are full of mistakes (or they don't make any sense). Class average is ridiculous and you need to get 45/50 on the midterm to have a shot at 4.0 GPA. (75 is B-) Final is 100 MC in 120 mins. Avoid!
horrible prof. she's a nice lady but she cannot teach. barely attended her class and did pretty decently on the aplia assignments. if you work hard at the assignments you can do really well at them no problem. exams are impossible and make no sense. avoid if you can.
I have enjoyed being in Susan's class. She gives good examples and adds humor to keep things interesting.
If you want Econ to be fun, avoid her please. I genuinely think she's a nice person, but not a very good lecturer at all. Exams are too long and tricky. Her voice and actions are annoying. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE AS AN OPTION/GPA booster because it is NOT! I regret taking this as a Science student. Only take it if you HAVE to take it. Good luck!:)
Overall, not enjoyable at all. Economics is my major, but this professor has faltered my interest. She has an annoying voice and frequently says, "Raaaaatherrr". Also, her examples are often incoherent and irrelevant to class material. The assignments are easy. But the midterms are tricky. I recommend studying on your own, rather than from her.
Lectures are largely slow and redundant, but if you need them they make topics extremely clear. She shows interest in making the class as easy as possible, asking for student input. Practice exams are available for midterms, which is very helpful, but questions often pop up that have multiple interpretations or are just confusing.
She was by far the best teacher i had my first year! Made the material so easy to understand, makes it very easy to do well in her class with regular attendance. Assignments are easy, tests are straight forward as she provides many practice exams. Again, by far my favorite teacher.
I truly believe that the people that didn't like her are the ones that didn't make an effort to come to class and skim the textbook. I did very minimal studying for exams and assignments, still ended with an A+. She was very nice, funny, and helpful. She provided lot's of practice exams and clearly stressed what we needed to know for tests.Love her
I really didn't think she was as bad as everyone said she was, I thought she was a great prof. You do have to attend the lectures and sometimes they can be dry, but the textbook is really easy to read and her test are straight forward. I think some people didn't like her because they set out not to like her.
I found her very helpful. She used very good examples to help illustrate the cocepts. She even added a joke now and then to lighten up the class a bit. Lecures were a bit boring that was mostly because the material was somewhat boring and she did a fairly good job to make it as interesting as she could.
Her lectures are extremely dull and she tends to go off on unrelated tangents. I extremely disliked many of her example scenarios as they were unhelpful and pointless. She doesn't post her notes online but if you just read the textbook you'll be fine. APLIA assignments every week are really easy if you do the practice review first. Free marks!
For the people who say her exams are tricky and hard, you really didn't try hard enough. Go through the textbook and supplement your own text notes with class notes. Just do the multitude of practice exams she gives and you're almost guaranteed a high mark.
Course load includes weekly online assigns, 2 MT exams, final exam. Her voice may get a bit boring at times, but she tries to make the lectures fun and interesting. She has a genuine interest in making sure students get the most out of her class, and is willing to accommodate student requests. Makes herself very approachable out of class time.
I really loved her! I barely even go to her classes and still managed to get an A-. I will definitely recommend to READ your textbook and do ALL practice exams and make sure you guys take advantage of the TUTORIAL SESSIONS, they will definitely help you understand everything you don't get! (atleast some of them will)
Her vocabulary consists of the words indeeeed, awwppertunity cost, so-ploy and rawwther. Too many mistakes on midterm, gives vague and contradictory replies on discussion board. She spends all her time on useless examples in class and skips over or rushes through important topics. Read ahead in textbook, lectures don't prepare you for assignments.
Great teacher all around. Her voice and tone, while a little odd, forces you to pay attention. Exams are straightforward, and the practice exams she provides online are more than enough to get an A. Easy to get in touch with, and definitely knows her stuff. Looking forward to Macro.
You do not need to go to her class at all, all you have to do is complete Aplia by reading the online textbook and material. To prepare for the exams, just complete the practice exams for she reuses most of her exam questions. If you want to actually learn, do not choose her. This is just a GPA booster.
I haven't heard anything about other econ profs, so I don't know how she compares-- but she is good regardless. Attend class, pay attention, and do all practice exams. Practice exams prepare you very well for her tests. Online assignments are easy marks if you put in the 20 minutes a week to do them.
Good Prof. Follows along with the textbook. Has an awkward charm about her. Do Aplia and all the practice exams and you're golden.
She is enthusiastic about her work and the material, but she just cannot teach. She is knowledgeable but she loves beating round the bush a thousand times before arriving at the main point. I was in class less than half the time but managed to survive. She gives lots of practice exams so be sure to do those and you'll be fine.
Attendance is not mandatory, you can learn simply by reading the textbook and doing the online assignments. Not helpful when attending office hours, as she just refers you back to the class notes. However, exams are easy and all you need to do to get a good mark is to do the practice exams.
Easy class. Her lecture notes are useless, since they're merely re-iterations from the textbook. Her vernacular consists mainly of "ummmmm", "rother', "jargon" and "soploy" .You're better off writing note from the textbook and doing the online assignments and practice exams.Attendance not needed (I was able to maintain an A without going to class)
Her lectures are not particularly useful, as she mostly covers concepts once you have already done the assignment pertaining to those concepts. She is nice enough, and really tries, but does not manage to make the course interesting. A class with her is not the worst thing that could happen, but I wouldn't highly recommend.
Don't take her class. She studders a lot when she's speaking, and much of the time she is at least 2 to 3 lessons behind. In a way she expects you to read ahead in the textbook to do the weekly assignments, and then she goes through the material the week after the assignment. Pointless attending class as well. Learn off of the txtbook instead.
Susan Kamp uses lots of real life examples in her Powerpoint notes, but spends too much time explaining each example. She helps with understanding the concepts, but lectures are often given after the Aplia assignment is due. If you practice the sample midterms & finals, it should improve your grades though. Overall, an informative class.
Attendance to the lecture was not necessary, as reading the textbook will teach you better. Not helpful when attending office hours or emailing, and seemed to be annoyed when students had simple questions. Easy marks if you read the text and do online exams.
Kamp was a fair teacher, her lectures were fairly boring, however she explained things clearly and she really cared that the students learned the material.
Horrible class! At first I went to every single class but after a while I found it hard to attend. I basically taught myself the entire course. I found her hard to understand and her notes were not helpful at all. She knows her stuff but I found she couldn't get her points across.
Never attended class, but her exams are exactly like the practice ones she gives. Good mark booster
I attended every class did every assignment and just kinda skimmed the book, put in mabbe 45mins a week at the most into this class and got an A+. She gives some lame examples but I mean teaches practically right out of the textbook. She posts a ton of old exams so I would just recommend doing a couple of those before each test and easy A+.
Going to class probably has a negative correlation with grades. Just read the textbook.
A great class for anyone with a love of banks
I did not enjoy this class at all. Her lectures are super dull, and she uses strange examples repeatedly. In hindsight, I would have preferred taking the 8am class with a different prof.
Aside from the fact that she was quite boring to listen to, she was not very good at explaining some concepts either. I would not recommend this class to anyone. If you really need to take it, then take it, but try to avoid it.
Extremely easy course. Lectures were incredibly boring, so I skipped about 90% of them, and still easily managed an A+. Homework is easy and Tests are identical to practice tests given to study. Fairly certain I had already seen 75% of the final just from doing a few practice tests.
Some people love her or hate her, but either way her class is fairly straightforward. Great teacher in a sort of grandmotherly way ahaha. Do the practice exams and homework and you're getting at least a B+ with minimal studying.
Had taken 101 with her as well, and I think the class became even worse with her
This is not a gpa booster like everyone says. Yes, if you do the practise exams you will get a B+. I got A- by doing the exams and studying the textbook (class is useless so I had no notes), but getting an A is very difficult to the curve.
That has to be the worst course I have ever taken. Not necessarily difficult just painful. She talks very quickly and it is difficult to understand her notes. She also repeats herself constantly.
She is lovable as a person, just not as a Prof. It is a pain to attend classes and she isn't very kind on the discussion boards either. Don't go to class, read the text on your own, do the practices and old exam papers and you'll prob get a B+. It doesn't help that she takes the majority of the 100 level econ classes
Terrible prof. She picked her favourites and gave them special treatment, not approachable at all. She may be kind to her favourites but her lectures are dry, boring, and useless. The powerpoint notes gave pictures. No notes. This is not an easy A. Avoid if you can.
Kamps is approachable, however she is a horrible professor..... Classes began with over 175 students and ended with less than 100 ppls attending, her examples are poor, lecture notes are poor, you have to teach yourself this course in order to pass.
It is what it is.
She was more confusing and contradictory than actually teaching anything. Lectures were completely useless (and extremely boring), notes were even more so and the textbook was extremely unhelpful and didn’t have any useful information.
She is an approachable prof that can somewhat help you if you're having trouble with the material. However, her lectures are somewhat dry and her powerpoints are quite useless. Reading the text-book is kind of redudant IMO. If you want an A- in this class, just try to understand her notes and DO the practice exams that she posts online.
Everyone already knows this, but it is an extremely dry class. It is possible to do well if you force yourself to learn it on your own because it isn't extremely hard material, but it is extremely hard to actually attend class and listen to her.
ECON 101 is a super super easy course. Kamp is an alright teacher. If you need help, she definitely is quite willing to offer it. As for the textbook? Well lets just say you are golden if you never even go to class and just read the book. Her exams are mostly based out of the Chapter notes on APLIA and the textbook. Also, do her practice test.EasyA
Her class was easy, but only if you're willing to learn the material on your own. I found google and the online labs all I needed, and actually stopped going to class for the last third of term. Her lectures are insanely dull, and she comes across as extremely condescending. If you visit her office, however, she's not bad one on one.
She gave us so easy homework and practice questions but harder texts! And the most killing thing is her is lecture is cheesely boring!
Okay prof
Tough course, material was boring and lectures were..rather boring. Exams were relatively okay, but got tougher after the first midterm. She's nice, answers questions if you have any, but moves through material very quickly. Must go to class to write notes, but she also posts notes before exams.
Take the evening class with her. Attendance isn't mandatory. Keep up with textbook readings and the online weekly assignments. Ask her if you have questions. Exams are very similar to the practice she gives out around exam time. Do them and you're set for the course. Easy course, but class was terribly long and difficult to stay awake through.
I think she is absolutely amazing! She is super down to earth, so approachable, and gives many practice exams WITH answers to help her students succeed! She is amazing at what she does, one of the best profs at the U in my opinion.
Looks like Moe Sizlak but knows economics. Evening exams are no fun.
Class was extremely boring. Herself and the textbook were completely useless when it came to the exams. Exams are difficult because questions are misleading and nothing like the one's on the assignments. Very short time given to write the lengthy exams. I will never take a class with this prof again!!
She reminds me of Judge Judy. The course is not an easy A. The exams are much tougher than the assignments, and the assignments are much tougher than her lectures suggest they would be. Her best advice is that studying econ is like practicing math. It's true.
This woman does not know how to teach properly. The textbook is useless, does not have all the formulas, and her exams are MUCH different than her practice ones. SAVE YOUR SELF. FIND A DIFFERENT PROF.
This prof lectures on material that is not in the textbook or the online website (and she doesn't post it in her slides, either). Despite posting lots of practice exams, the actual test you write will bear little resemblance to anything you've seen. Avoid this prof at all costs.
Do not rely on her sppon-feeding you all the knowledge required to pass this course. That - she won't do. She describes her lectures as a tour on which we are welcome to join, but we must invest our own initiative to succeed in the couse, or even to pass. NOT easy, but not terribly difficult either. To be successful, read the entire book.
Her exams are tough but they teach you as you go on completing them. My advice would be not to contemplate whether her exams are similar or not to those posted on Aplia. Rather, do the end-of-chapter questions in the book. Her tests literally TEST your understanding of the material. If you fail to grasp something, you WILL lose marks for it.
Very poor and boring lecture. And her midterms are tricky and hard. Do not suggest.
Her exams are ridiculously challenging, but who cares, these classes are curved anyway. The important point is you will learn to think like an economist about fundamental concepts in economics with her class. Her class is definitely not easy, but the assignments and the exams alone are worthwhile BECAUSE they are challenging (remember it's curved!)
Her lectures are dilute and not contentful, however she motivates the topics well. The book complements the lectures definitely. The assignments and practice questions are great. Her exams are mostly fair though a bit hard. She should make her analogies and stories stronger. Otherwise, she is great lady and a decent teacher. Not bad at all, in fact
She is a really sweet lady and cares about her students. Her lectures seem dry but are really helpful if you can get through them. Make sure to do all the practice test because the questions repeat
Don't go to class, read the textbook, get an A. Not sure what Susan looks like, but I'm sure she's a nice lady.
She is a really nice lady. I love the smile on her face. She motivate students to read the book well. She also gives really similar samples to us.Congratulation, if you finish them before the exam.
Susan Kamp is actually an unreal prof. She uses lots of rela world examples. Esay assignments, and easy midterms, if you simply skim the textbook. Also, you can defiantly get away with not going to a ton of classes, and only listening a bit.:) #easy #love #bestprof #skamp #easymidterms
She is an okay prof. Attendance is not mandatory at all because you won't learn anything if you go. This is the type of course where you have to read the textbook and teach yourself which can get a little tricky. Midterms are similar to practice online. Would recommend someone else if you want to be taught.
She is so rude towards students that have questions in lectures, she repeats herself constantly, and at times contradicts herself. I have tried to diligently go to her classes but it is useless. I'm sticking to the textbook and hoping for the best.
This Prof is monotone voice hence why students dislike her. But, the key to getting an A is to attend the helpdesks, do the homework and do ALL the practice midterms.
Wow. The drop off from Gordon Lee was just too much to handle. Don't go to class and read the textbook. She seems like a nice lady outside of class, but spent most of the lecture arguing with students who had legitimate questions. Doesn't explain notes very well, and often places an unnecessary picture over a crucial graph in her Powerpoints. Meh
Sometimes it was pretty hard to pay attention in class, but overall not a terrible class, but i doubt she's the best econ prof of them all
She seems like a nice lady, but she's definitely not the best econ prof out there. Had her as a substitute for Gordon Lee, such a huge difference. In class she essentially reads her slides. Better off studying off of the textbook :/
Don't bother going to class. Just read off the textbook and make study notes for yourself - you'll get at least a B+ by doing that. I also found her to be quite rude whenever she was answering someone's question.
She basically reads from the text book as her lecture. It is very difficult to do well on her tests if you just study from the textbook. You should do the practice tests she gives (5 available per test) in order to know how to write her style of questions. Her class requires complete self direction.
She is the worst prof I've ever had. There is no point in going to class because her method of teaching is dry, useless and her examples suck. You are better off just reading the textbook and teaching yourself. I did not learn a single thing about economics. Moral of the story.. I want my 500 dollars back.
She is a useless prof. Drop her class asap, no one should have her as their prof
She's a super nice lady, but she's not a very good prof. Her questions are worded weird, and going to lectures is useless. Just read the text book, do the practice exams that she posts on Aplia and you'll pass the course. She was like 40 exams short for our final, so we wrote 20 minutes late. It was nice that she came to explain to us individually!
Susan Kamp is a very nice lady and she is not a terrible prof. I actually learned a lot from her lecture that are a bit dry but bearable. Reading the textbook is a must and doing the homework online as well. I found the midterms and final extremely hard, but the class is curved so it wasn't as bad as a thought. I would recommend her.
I really like her because she could make me laugh base on such a boring class. There are also many tutors she recommend very helpful. The homework well be easy if you fully understand the lecture, if not you can go ask her. overall she is a teacher deserve my respect
She was a little boring in class, but you can get by without going or paying a lot of attention. Read the textbook and do all the assignments.
Interested in Econ, so bare in mind. I showed up to all the classes with friends so it was pretty enjoyable though by yourself her class is just boring. You don't really need to attend, all her stuff goes thru applia, just read the readings and do the assignments along with all the practice exams and you're set.
Attendance is mandatory because many practical examples are given and you will not do good on tests if you do not show up. There are short weekly assignments to be done online, two midterms, and a final. The midterms and final were tricky but many practice exams are posted weeks before so practice these and you will do fine.
Great prof and a nice lady. I'm not too sure why the previous ratings rate her at such a low standard, she is very clear and makes very fair tests. Either go to lecture or read the text and you'll be set. She made me laugh and gave out candy!
This was my first time having her and I was intrigued by her lectures initially, but it got old really quick. She also has an eccentric personality and kinda turned me away from sitting at the front anymore. My friend who also sat at the front stopped coming to class while I sit at the back now. Just do the practice tests and you're good.
Not the greatest prof you'll come across. She seems nice but her lectures are not the best and when a student asks a question she will most likely argue with you instead of answering it almost as if she's trying to put the student down. Just do all the assignments and practice tests, or even better, get a different prof.
Don't get me wrong, she is a nice lady, and even funny at times, but not the best prof! I had her for econ 101 as well so I knew what I was getting into for 102. Exams are hard and notes are unclear very boring and confusing lecture. What saved me are her practice exams! If you do those, you will most likely do well in the class.
Terrible instructor. Overly difficult and tricky tests for a 100 level class. PPT notes very poorly written and designed; unclear. Assignments are averaged and students collaborate and take screen shots of questions and do them with friends, so unfair for honest students. Lecture itself extremely boring and not helpful.
The most frustrating thing with Susan is that in addition to not teaching from the textbook, her notes are messy and sometimes unclear. She can also be rude at times but you should be able to pull through if you make an effort to go over her notes and do her practice exams.
One of the best profs I had this year. Definitely take her class
Prof makes you feel stupid, but the class is straight forward. I still grimace when I see her in the halls of Tory though.. such a rude professor.
The best way to do well in the class is to look at her notes from the slideshows, and do all the practice tests. Hard to stay focused in the class, but I imagine there aren't a lot of exciting ways to teach Econ if you don't already find that type of stuff interesting
Her class is very boring, but she is always willing to help, holding review sessions where you can ask questions. Her exams aren't that hard and the best way to study is to do the practice exams a lot before the actual exam.
I do not understand why she has such low ratings. Her explanations of difficult ideas were so clear that i did not have to use the book. She is a really nice professor, and her exams are fair and challenging at the same time. You will only think she is boring if you have no interest in economics. She was one of the best profs of my first year.
My experience was pretty negative on the whole. Professor Kamp is very intelligent and knowledgeable; unfortunately, she is less skilled in breaking down topics. She seemed frustrated with questions, and openly mocked students that raised their hands as if they had somehow failed by not understanding. There are better places to learn Economics.
Around half of the students go to class because her teaching is boring and class ppt are terrible. She destroyed my interest in economy.
Quite boring, reads off her powerpoints and posts them online. Assignments are super easy.
She seems pretty stand-offish but she was very accommodating to me and totally saved my semester. I found her lectures very clear, but anyone who didn't had a hard time getting answers from her in class. If that's the case then read the textbook and do the assignments. Put the effort in on your part. I'll be taking 102 with her next semester!
Her class was very boring. Hard to get high score on her exams. She gives samples before exams. However, the question of exams are much harder than the sample's that she gave to you. If you ask for help, she will be very happy to help you.
Her lectures are dry but they are mandatory because she purposefully omits some extra slides and answers in her online notes. Her exams are not tough as long as you study her notes carefully. Online assignments are nothing like the exams. Textbook isn't necessary, her notes are good enough.
She uses stories and the lives of fictional characters to help explain economic concepts. She means well, but her lectures are pretty boring. I attended all her classes but i don't pay attention. The textbook and mock papers are your best friends. The textbook is really people friendly and it will help you a lot. Overall, she a'ight.
Textbook will provide better explanations.
One of the most boringuninteresting professors ever. The lectures are next to useless, and the only way she'll answer your questions is if you ask privately, otherwise she'll humiliate you in front of the class. Don't bother showing up. Her tests are easy, and 90% based on her powerpoints (thankfully available online, albeit with poor grammar)
Her lectures are dry and boring. I was interested greatly in economics until she came along. Also, she openly mocks students if she needs to reiterate something for them. Would not recommend as I learned more from the textbook than from her.
Lectures are as dry as it can be. I stopped going to class about 2 weeks in. Religiously read the textbook and you will get easy A. Lecture notes online are pretty useless, but the practice midterms are useful (only do recent ones as anything past 2012 is outdated). Extremely rude prof. Would not recommend this prof to my worst enemy.
PPT are wasting time, cannot get points during class. She just reading and reading, worst prof I ever met!
If you ask for help in a very direct way, she will answer your questions really well. Otherwise she always goes off on tangents about small details that do not have much to do with the big picture and skims over the important material. Her notes are also very disorganized and unless you know what you're looking for the textbook is your only hope.
Although I enjoyed ECON 101, ECON 102 was a dud for me. Almost every lecture was boring because the content was taught at a very slow pace than what I'm used to with my other courses. You may tune out, so keep yourself occupied (read the text book, maybe? That's a good idea!)
Go to class or don't, as long as you do the weekly assignments and practice exams you will be fine. Many exam questions will be similar to the practice and there generally won't be any surprises. She also gives multiple questions and lets you pick which ones you want to answer (like pick 23 or 57)
