Incredible
Go for her class. She'll raise your GPA.
Susan Kamphaus was an incredibly good teacher and i would recommend her to anyone
Totally Hot! Never bored with her to look at in class. She has great eyes and is very attentive to her students. Too bad she is all business! Great Professor!
Great Teacher!
Very good teacher. Kept the class interested. Just watch out for the semester project.
She is an awesome teacher! You learn alot in a fun way. She is very down to earth and helpfull. I wish she taught every class i need to take. And if you love food you will enjoy her class even more!
I disagree I worked very hard on my assignments, she grades very harshly. I (along w/ others)think she singled me out from day 1. I missed class to testify in a homicide trial & wasn't allowed to make up assignments. She is a fun person but arrogant and egocentric. I won't take her again
She's a great teacher but don't take this class if you don't intend to work. If you read and pay attention you should be fine, the key is doing all the small assignments. There is a huge group presentation at the end, like her intro to psych class... this does require way more work than many classes
She says everyone plays by the same rules, she is wrong, she don't grade fair on her presations. She don't teach she sends you to the computer lab for assignments, so there is not any time for lecture, the class average is usally a D, I wouldn't take her agian if she was the only tacher around.
(Internet Course)Inaccessible, brusque, and unhelpful. Condescending if one does not understand how to upload assignments, but if she forgets to put the portal to upload on blackboard, how is that the student's fault? We were then scolded for not having already done it and for not understanding how.
I took the internet course. It was so hard I had to drop it and I am an honors scholar/4.0. I did everything i could possibily do, short of memorizing the text, and I still could not get a good grade. She is insane/ I even filled out a complaint to the director's office. dont take it
She was a pretty good teacher. She did kind of seem partial to some of the students, while just being so-so with some of the others. Good stories, great food, hard tests, especially in Dev. psych. all essays! I took her for both classes, I'd recommend her.
I hated this class! Susan was hardly ever in class because she thought we should teach ourselves in groups. That's not wait I paid my tuition for. She is a horrible instructor, she grades very unfairly, and she's very unorganized. I basically failed her class, took it again with another instructor, got an A. Susan shouldn't be allowed to teach!
I took this class on the internet and part of the time assignments weren't up when they were supposed to be. When I asked questions I was told if I couldn't handle the class I should drop it. Do not take her unless you want an F.
I got along great with kamphaus but I could still tell that most people were having problems with her class and she didn't have time to help them. I would only reccomend her class if you can retain what you read, that is what most of her class work consists of. If you have trouble with that, don't take her class.
She's very hard--if you want an easy A, find someone else--but you will learn a LOT in her class. She's a very good instructor, and applies a lot of the lessons to everyday problems or situations. I seriously considered changing my major to psych because of her classes. I thought she was great.
good teacher fun interesting classes work was hard though but definitely made you use your brain. Made psychology interesting! i'd recommend her but careful with the end of semester projects Be Prepared!
She is totally hot! But sometimes it seems I think she maybe drinks too much coffee in the morning.
the class is to unclear to make a good grade.
I would like to first say the S.K. was/is one of my favorite teachers. She was smart, witty and taught the material beyond the course description. She is a college professor who challenges her students! Those who are leaving rude remarks are entitled but remember you chose to be challenged by going to college.(I bet that candy is not there anymore)
Susan is a nice person and a good teacher but KNOW YOU MLA!!! If you do not know MLA you will fail your writing assignments. Hard class!
AWEFUL...She is a terrible teacher, she cant wait for you to leave and take her timed quizes. She teaches you nothing but wants you to know everything. I passed but I dont know how.
Ms Kamphaus is a wonderful teacher. She is very hard though. If you just want a blow off class this is NOT it. She challenges your mind. You MUST know your stuff in this class. Know your MLA also. She has so much to offer if you will listen.
She is a cutie!! Her tests are really hard but she seems to want us to do well. She loves Starbucks!
Wow! Could kick myself for not being better prepared....she tried to warn us. Loved coming to class, loved the autonomy, loved the look, hated the quizzes. I've let people know about her and to take her in the Spring. I'll miss looking at her.
This professor was the worst professor I have ever had. I never want to take another one of her class again but she is the only Pshchology professor in the west campus and that sucks for me. I have to take her next semester too. I hate this professor.
This is for all you crybabies out there that thought you were going to come in take a sociology or psychology course and just breaze through because it is required. Well buck up its tuff. Susan Kamphaus is a wonderful prof. and person. She teaches the material clearly and from her heart. It is totally unfair to blame her for your laziness.
I think the only reason why people wouldn't be happy with Kamphaus is only because they weren't prepared for class or didn't seek help. Maybe its just because she isn't a pushover. Or maybe yet it is because you can't take this class w/o inputing hard work. She is a great teacher despite the difficult tests. It all depends on how prepared U R!
Thank you for the challenge. I'm going to enroll in another course of hers.
she is so funny and cool to talk to. It is a hard class you have to study but we arent in elementary school we are all in college so get ready she is awesome i have learned so much about the mind and body now.
Susan is Awesome. Kamphaus allows people to come to her in their time of peril. At least if they think that's what's going on. Yes, she does expect a lot but its so worth it. I hear students everyday say that its hard but they would never drop because they learn so much from her. She gives personal experience and has a funny sense of humor.
she is such a great teacher!!! She believes in giving her very best and expects the same in return. You are here to learn and that is just what you do. Listen to her! She knows what she is talking about!!!!

I recommend this class to all of my friends. She is very organized so you know exactly what to expect. Most of the quizzes are open book which is really helpful. The project at the end is huge but you get over a week of class time to work on it. My group did great! I'm taking her again.
Kamphaus is awesome! She's a wonderful teacher and can become a true friend. All her classes are great!!! She's tough, but the classes are so much fun...end of semester parties baby!!!
I took her on line psy class and was happy with it and her. In my past experience on line classes are more demanding and deadly if you behind in one. Hers was very organized...you knew when assignments were due. You can not work ahead but you know the exact date everything is due so that is okay. I wish she'd teach different sections on line.
Awesome teacher and an awesome person. She makes learning fun but she is no easy A. Come prepared to work! Quizzes are straight from the book and tests are somewhat difficult. The writing assignments are pretty easy just make sure you know MLA! End of the semester project is a fun time! Lot of points available in the class.
Omg, I don't like this teacher at all!! I would not and don't recommend her to anyone. Sorry, I just did not like her teaching methods.
Very Awesome teacher!
She is so helpful to me. I had a rough start with enrollment but Kamphaus made me feel quite comfortable and encouraged. She sets up a very structured class so I know exactly what is going on each day throughout the semester. I talked my boyfriend into taking her class. She is awesome!
Great Instructor!! She knows her stuff. Hard class, but she is very clear on what she expects. If you want the challenge and to actually learn something take her class. If you are looking for ways not work for your grade this class is not for you. Know your MLA format. Her class was always interesting.
Kamphaus is by far the best professor I have had at TCC. She teaches what you need to know, and provides real-world applications. It is not a blow-off gen ed, so if that's your goal, avoid it. If you actually want to learn and be challenged, come prepared to listen to a funny yet sincere woman. I've taken 2 of her classes, and they are awesome.
Susan seems to think she is a Comp teacher when in fact her class is psychology. You better know your MLA..GET the STUDY GUIDE that goes with the book if you want an A!! Know your MLA like the back of your hand!! Spends almost no time in lecture..so get prepared for double reading chapters.
Ms Kamphaus is a great instructor! She is upfront and to the point, which is great, you always know what to expect and what is expected of you. If you are not mature and can not handle the COLLEGE CLASS then don't stay in it. You will have to study hard, but it is worth it. You will learn alot.
Be prepared to read a lot! Homework is easy! Make sure and buy the study guide many questions are in there! Tests are HARD! I found it harder because they were VERY shortly timed. You have 25 minutes to answer as many questions. If you go over the time you get a 0! Make sure and read chapters throughly and the study guide will help.BUY STUDY GUIDE!
This teacher likes to play mind games. Tests are hard for hard's sake, not for purpose of learning,ex., changing one word in a T/F or M-C to make it wrong answer. Holds her students to letter of the law re: spelling, but handouts/quizes had many typos/errors. 3-4 wks behind on grading from 2 wks to semester end. Recommend avoiding this teacher
This is a great on-line class if you are looking for structure. There is specific times work is available and certain times it is due...if you miss it you miss it! Great for me as I have a tendency to put things off. Professor ALWAYS answered my email, often the same day. She was good to return my calls. I'll take another from her!
she's hard and doesn't know jack
I HATED S.K. for intro to psyc..timed quizes, strict MLA papers, tons of group work..it was a nightmare..LOVED her for dev. psyc!! Tests are hard..all essay...but she goes over the most of the material in class..you have to read your book..not an easy A..but do-able. (made A in intro and dev. psyc)
Had her for intro to Psych online in the 8 week format, she was very intense and lagged behind on grading our assingments. When she graded them she did not give any feedback to let us know where we needed to brush up. I highly recomend getting the study guid as most of her tests come from it. Demands perfection on grammar and spelling "hers sucks!
Mrs. Kamphaus is an extremely hard teacher. I think she tries hard to challenge her students, but no one in my class made above a D. She is extremely picky about every little detail and if you don't get something just right, you get a zero on the assignment. I DO NOT recommend her to anyone. I love the subject, not the instructor.
I took the 8 week online class. It was VERY time consuming until I got the study guide that went along w/the text book. The homework is lengthy but it comes straight from the study guide if you buy one. Good luck and be ready to study.
I just finished the 2nd 8 wk online class and it was good. It is VERY stuctured with exact due dates and times which can be a pain but it kept me on track Which I need. There were 4 As in my class I made a B. She gives great feedback and always answers her email. The homework is a bear but you get enough time to do it and it helps the grade.
My intro class was small which I worried about at first. Hey, she rocks and is funny. Yeah, you have to follow directions, read the book and the quizzes are timed. But almost all of them are open book which is good. She is fair. I made a C but could have made a B if I would have pulled my head out. My sister's taking her in the fall.
I just finished her dev class and I loved her enthusiasm. I had her for intro and she was pretty strict with assignmts and due dates but all in all fair. She's completely different in dev psyc Alot more laid back and still funny. Her stories helped me relate the material and there is alot of reading. Exams are hard but other class hmwk helps.
the 8wk online class required lots of work. the quizzes were timed which made me crazy but they were all opened book which is nice. we got a whole week to work on the project with nothing else due and that helped enormously. i'd take kamphaus for another online class--i wish she taught developmental psy since i need it for my major
i took the online class and really liked it. she answered my emails almost immediately. she was really encouraging when i needed it. stuff is due at an exact time but if you follow the schedule it is a breeze. i'd definitely take her again!
She has a wonderful personality, very bubbly. Night classes are not just educational they are FUN. However you are required to start and finish a paper on the test days. SHE IS GREAT!
She was not that nice of a professor.
IF you are late on an assignment for any reason plan on a zero without exception. Also, even if the answer is listed in the book her answer may be different. Took an 8 wk online class and barely scraped by with an A. Discussion posts are tedious and time consuming. Would not take her again. Very frustrating experience.
Hot? What? Intelligent? she only teaches online so she doesnt really have to teach! Why did i pay that tuition???
She is lazy. at our last assignment all of the students are trying to ask her how to do the final major topic assignment because she did not post it clearly what to do. we write to her to ask what to do about six or seven each of us and she did not answered any of us it?s like she does not cares about her class and I?m not alone on that. and I am v
this teacher absoulutely SUCKS!!!do NOT take her classes!!
i'd stay away from this teacher. she gave me 0's for like 6 out of 10 homework assignments because i didn't answer like 2 or 3 questions out of them whenever they had like atleast 70 questions. she graded the assignments SOOOO slowly otherwise i would have known to not miss not even ONE question!! she failed me!
Kamphaus created a fun and inviting atmosphere. The subject matter was rather dull, but she made it personal for each and every one of us. Throughout the semester, she got just as frustrated with us as we did with her. But overall, she did a fantastic job of making such a boring class interesting and effective!!
Worst teacher I have ever had!
This teacher is horrible!!!
She is awful... She makes you feel stupid and smarts off a lot! I definitely would not recommend her!
I took her class online. Assignments took a loooong time to be graded, and things were not posted on time.
Didn't seem to have an interest in grading assignments or e-mailing students back. Would definitely not recommend her.
Took the class on-line. Would not do it again. Excessive homework, too much for even on on-line course. Grades not posted in a timely manner. Does not respond promptly to e-mails or voice mails. She posts office hours, but has never been there when I stopped by. Find another instuctor who can show more respect for her student's time and efforts.
i actually like the structure of the class. the deadlines are set in stone! but i had a schedule and knew when stuff was due. it is an 8-wk class which goes by fast!!!! I'd take another online class with her. i am--developmental psy
DO NOT TAKE HER!!! SHES HORRIBLE!! YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!
Wow! I don't get where are the negative comments are coming from? Unless it is from some of my classmates who were looking for an A with doing NOTHING in class!! I went to see her twice in her office and talked to her numerous times on the phone. She helped me through a crisis with the giant project at the end. I found her very helpful.
Took her Intro to Psych and Developmental Psych courses at West Campus. She was friendly and thorough. She was strict with her deadlines but I didn't find her to be a difficult grader. Made an A in Intro and C in Developmental, but the C was my fault because I was working the night shift and going directly to her 8 AM class with no sleep.
this teacher is terrible and dont have to go to the hospital or anything because she will not allow any make up work of any kind regardless of the reason. she is also extremely rude!
I took her 4 wk summer class in July too. She did answer her email within 24 hours and sometimes i sent her 3 emails in a day and she answered all of them. I had a baby in the middle of the 4 week class and she worked with me through the short stay in the hospital. There was a lot of work though!! But it wasn't hard just time consuming. Liked her
I took Professor Kamphaus 4wk fast track online. Excessive amounts of homework, quizzes, etc....then the end of the semester project is proving to be quite hard. However; she was very helpful in allowing me do over's due to life circumstances. She always answered my emails within a 24 hr period and always had such kind and motivating words!!!
So much work for only 3 hours!!!
This professor is pretty strict. Grades fair but does not allow for any extenuating circumstances that affect grades. Is very strict on deadlines, rules, and quality of work. Non-negotiable... I didn't enjoy her 4 week class at all.
For a 3.0 credit class... 30 hrs of homework is absolutely ridiculous... it was the only case I have ever had to drop out of 60 credit hours... I could not finish all of her homework and the other 4 classes I had! I have a 3.9 GPA
i spent at least 5 hours on my homework, if not more first assignment was 11 pages ridiculous it was a pointless class she didn't record our grades until later then saying if you didn't do this you get a zero it was ridiculous.
I enrolled for the last 8wk session in the spg because i had to drop a class. There is a hmwk assignment for each of the chaps but we didn't cover all the chapters in the book. The quizzes are open book but they are timed. I never ran out of time. There is a project at the end but you have a week to work on it w/o any other work. I liked the class
I took her 8 week class online and loved it. I knew what I needed to do and followed the schedule. I'm confused about all the "too much" work comments and I want to know what classes these folks have been taking. All the classes I've enrolled in required alot of work from me!! How else does one learn? You won't be disappointed.
I LOVE HER she is fun and yes the course is hard no matter what teacher u take. But she is good at what she does.
I took her 8wk online class.I liked this class. She goes by the syllabus which I like so you know what to expect. Be honest and ask questions and you will do fine. Be prepared to do your work this class does not hand you an "A". She ALWAYS returns my emails within 24 hours. Make sure you keep up with the dates and times that assignments are due.
I love her! This class is very hard, but it would be no matter the teacher. She makes things relate-able and is always ready to email back and see you in her office if you have any questions. She does everything she can to make sure you do well.
This class was easy as long as you do the work. I had a few problems getting in touch with the professor but once she responded she was awesome.
If you want a professor who is organized and easily accessible, do not take her class. She is EXTREMELY unreliable. There is a ton of homework (busy work) especially for an entry level class, and there are times that she doesn't post the assignment until the day it is due. Which is very difficult to complete on time when you're taking other classes
For all of you who said that there was too much homework...time to grow up, you're in college now. For those who said that she's inaccessible...are you on another planet? For those who plan to further their ed. after TCC...it's a great prep class! You will see much more work and much less caring Profs at the University level.
I attended class everyday. When I tried to get help from her she was neve in her office. She gets off subject all the time and gives a tone of homework. If you like homewo and a ton of testthis is a class for you. Otherwise don't take her class!!
I loved the class. It is scheduled--she follows it. There were a couple of errors with deadlines but she sent out a notice to everyone and corrected it. There is a worksheet and a quiz for each chapter. I feel very prepared to take dev. pay. I made a B in her class.
This teacher is very unreliable. Whenever I tried to get help from her or try to get in contact wit her, she wouldn't respond for a long period of time. I recommend not having her as a teacher. I had to many problems with her not being available or helpful
She doesn't reply to emails very quickly. It takes about 4 days if she does reply. Everything is laid out but the homework takes a long time to complete.
She doesn't respond to e-mails or phone calls. Not helpful in the least bit.
Fun teacher, made class easy. A lot of reading from the book and quizzes every week, but ultimately learned very much. Highly recommend.
8 wk course. Plan on studying about 20-30 hours a week from reading, h/w, and tests. She mentioned teaching 7 other classes and was slow to post grades except for the tests which are completely confusing. I worked hard enough in this class for an A but I got a B!!! Unless you test very well, I do not recommend. Sadly disappointed.
Very strict course schedule. She makes no attempt to work with a student even if the issue results from her own ineptitude!
I took the Strategies Class, and she was very fun, and made the class interesting. Can you be lazy and make an A, no! But she is trying to get people ready to further their education which I appreciated. If you try and make an honest effort you will do fine!
I took the strategies class. Good professor did make the material a little more interesting, because original material was boring. Although like others said it is not an easy "A". Overall a good professor
This teacher never returns emails. The work is not intro..I felt as if I was working on my doctorate. Discussions are irrelevant. The major project that she has students do instead of a final is ridiculous. This teacher isn't teaching students, she is trying to prove to herself that she is intelligent. I can't believe that she hasn't been fired!
Awful experience. I spent hours and hours on hw assignments for bad grades. I never got one email response back. Not reliable and very confusing. She does not work with your schedule by any means. I would never recommend.
Class was late becoming available & one assignment was late being assigned. She's not entirely clear on instructions & doesn't respond to emails nor does she participate in group discussions (online class) & has the wrong dates on assignments. Overall, I am not impressed at all. I definitely wouldn't recommend her to my worst enemy.
Rarely responds to em and hard to get a hold of. Even tried calling her during her office hours and left vm and still she ever returned the calls or not even replied an email. Yet she can send out emails to everyone on announcements the same day but still don't reply to your emails or calls. Worksheets and tests are doable.
She does not respond to emails or calls in a timely matter or sometimes does not respond at all. Her online class has discussion questions and requires 4 people to respond to you. If 4 people do not respond, YOU end up with a 0. I had 3 people each time respond which resulted in me losing 125 points! I would NEVER take a class taught by her AGAIN!!
I loved this class! You must be on time and be prepared each day. She gives a lot of homework but doesn't seem to take much time. She DOES reply to emails and calls. The syllabus is strict and punctual. She was funny and very caring. There are three tests (one is the final and is take home essay). One group project which is time consuming but fun.
She does a great job of conveying the information in a clear, understandable way, BUT if you don't NEED this class pick anyone else. i spent more time doing homework and studying for her and it isn't a class i even need. however, if you need the course, then by all means take hers. its the one you want to be in.
I LOVED MS. KAMPHAUS! Her class is structured like a college class; come prepared and on time. The class consists of three tests (one being a take home final), homework and a group project. Her online class is harder; she even says so in her lecture classroom. I would take her again for any class!
Good luck getting her to respond in a timely manner. But otherwise, easy class. You don't need the book; all of her quizzes and assignments are drawn straight from the teacher's edition or wherever, so you can find all the answers on Quizlet. The only annoying thing is she doesn't let you take the quizzes early.
Gives quite a bit of homework but all of it pertains to what will be on tests. I enjoyed her in class and she always kept it interesting. I would definitely take one of her courses again because she is very flexible, yet makes you work hard for your grade.
Great professor. Makes you work for the grade you want. Super funny. Try and participate in all lectures. (Engaging with her helps you learn better). We had a LearnSmart activity and Online Assignment for every chapter. Test is every 4 chapters. Follow your syllabus. Print everything.
Professor Kamphaus is an amazing teacher. She truly cares about her students and does everything she can to help you succeed. That being said, you have to work for your grade. She lets you know what she wants and expects you to perform. Interactive lectures help you learn the material without even realizing it. Take her, if you can!
Professor Kamphaus is phenomenal at making sure you understand every little detail before moving on. Her tests are long and very particular, but as long as you study as you go you'll be just fine. Honestly, do the homework assigned and you will pass!
I really enjoyed Prof. Kamphaus's Intro to Psych class. She has three tests, a little homework just for reinforcement and busy work, a group project that isn't terrible- I hate group work. I showed up to class, put minimal work into it and received an A. Great professor!
Very slow to respond to emails. Homework was in the form of 30-50 short answer to occasional essay like questions per unit with 2-4 chapters per unit. My class was given 4 papers which were easy enough to do but time consuming. The online tests were timed & short but once the answer to a question was submitted there was no going back to change it.
She is not suited for online classes. She does NOT respond to emails and very slow to get grades in. The homework was excessive but I felt she graded fairly. It is passable but it was just frustrating that she would not respond. I found that the quizzes were difficult and hw did not apply.
I took this class as a 16wk online course and it wasn't bad. You have to read the entire textbook and the exams are kinda hard but the class itself really wasn't that hard. She takes a long time to grade but as long as you actually do the work, you'll get full credit. There are 3 papers and a final you get a week each to work on.
This isn't a particularly difficult class. As long as you pay attention to the syllabus and complete all the work it should be easy enough to get an A. However, the teacher never returned any of my emails, all the grading was late in the semester, and some assignments were closed early without notice.
Not only is professor Kamphaus a great person, but she is a great professor. I took her Intro to Psych class fall 2016 (on campus) and now Human Dev. spring 2017 ( online). She expects you to learn the material and be able to express what you've learned. I am not a psych major, but I have enjoyed her classes. I would recommend her again and again.
I think this professor has some grand notion of teaching us how tough our careers are going to be, but she doesn't bother to teach the material. She gives no lectures, no powerpoints, and no study guides other than the homework. Assignments are 30-70 short answer questions every 4-5 days. She doesn't respond to email, and grades weeks behind.
once of the my favorite class thus far, and my favorite professor. She is tough but it is such a fun class. Do your homework, show up to class, and study for exams. you will do great!
I found the work to be hard and the tests challenging but she made me enjoy the material.
I really enjoyed Professor Kamphauss class! At first I wasnt sure how to feel about her, but she grew on me. She even brought cute reindeer donuts with a cute baby donut as a nose for the last day of class! She really cares and she wants you to succeed!
Each unit (about every week and a half) you have a homework assignment of about 25-50 questions. Also a quiz of 25 questions each unit. she doesnt respond quick to email though. Lots of reading if you want to pass the quiz although I didnt read much and found the questions easily and did good on quizzes.
Ms. Kamphaus did not respond to emails quickly if you had a problem. She did however grade fairly and if you did the work the class was not hard.
I took PSYC 2023 online and you HAVE to read and participate. The class is not hard, it was actually very informative. However, if you get behind you won't catch up. There are several homework assignments and open book quizzes. You will also have several discussion boards. Overall I learned a lot of great information!
I took the 1st 8 week online course. It was very tough and time consuming. You have to do discussion boards, quizzes, connect assignments, and homework assignments. The hardest part of this class is the connect and homework assignments. The homework was tedious and took me a couple of days to them. The final is a project, not a test FYI.
She is very tough if you get slightly behind
You have four papers and you're final that APA. She grades them all differently. I got it correct on one and wrong on the next. You really have to study to even remotely pass. Be prepared to teach yourself.
She is the worst teacher I have ever had. If you take her in person 16 week course she will ruin your semester. If you miss 4 classes she will withdraw you, if youre late she wont let you in. She doesnt teach ANYTHING she spends an hour talking about the weekend and 20 mins teaching. And the test are very hard. HW and Quiz every single week.
Her online Intro to Psych class was easy as long as you did your part. The LC assignments were a cakewalk, the tests followed very closely. She responded to me quickly the one time I had to contact her. Be very thorough on your written homework assignments: they count for a lot!
I took this class online and I was not impressed. I emailed her a total of 5 times during the time I was in her class and she never responded one time. Her final instructions were very unclear and when I emailed her about a missing quiz link she ignored it and gave me a zero for a 90 point exam. I will retake this class with a different professor.
The final is a paper that you have to write, not a test. The homework is very long and takes 3-4 days to complete. It's very tedious and time consuming to complete the work for this class. I won't be taking any of her classes again. It's too time consuming.
A decent online class. You actually need to know something, but you can get an A without reading the book. She has quizzes weekly, question sets, learning curve assignments and discussion boards, and also research observation assignments.
You cannot get ahold of her outside of class! She says there is no excuses for missing any assignments, but she had a lot of excuses for not being able to be reached. It was just very frustrating. The class itself wasn't hard. Deadlines are final and strict. Easy good grade if you don't need to contact her.
I took the intro to psych online class, this is a class where you teach yourself. Instructions are unclear. Due dates don't match the syllabus, grading is not posted in a timely manner, and it takes forever for the professor to get back to you. If you can teach yourself, you will do well, but I do not recommend.
I took her for an online course. All is well as far as if you work independetly-most of the things are self explanatory. Though three of the research observations were absolutely ridiculous. She never replies to emails. I mean never. As well as papers are not graded for sometimes up to 2 months of the semester. Absolutely ridiculous.
If you want a crap-ton of tedious, time-consuming busy work, look no further! Took her 8 week online course in the middle of a world-wide pandemic and she had no sympathy for anyone who had to work, had their kids out of school during this time etc. 0/10 would not recommend. Her research observations were the most ridiculous assignments ever BTW!
Professor Kamphaus loads the class with a RIDICULOUS amount of tedious work which requires ZERO critical-thinking. She is unresponsive via email and has made NO adjustments during this COVID-19 pandemic. In fact as I sit today, our instructions for our Final were to be made available at 6am on May 1st. It is May 5th and nothing is available!!!
DOES NOT ANSWER TO EMAILS AT ALLLL. She assigns very time consuming tedious work. Does not give any extra credit. Would not take her again.
Requires emails to be in particular format and will not answer unless format is correct. She takes days to answer emails which is challenging when the class is online. Final is huge essay/project. Nightmare.
I'm 3 1/2 weeks into an 8-week, online class and she still has not graded assignments from the first day. No one in the class has been able to get her to respond to an email nor phone call. One even went in person to her office, no luck there neither. I have no idea how I'm doing on my papers and am turning my third one in tomorrow. BEWARE!!
This is one of the most difficult classes I've taken. I don't usually do poorly in school, but this course is nearly impossible. The course load is extremely heavy; I guess she doesn't care that students have other classes and priorities, and she's a bit OCD about everything. She doesn't respond to emails and is overly critical. Do not recommend.
Out of all my classes, this has been the most difficult class. She is very specific and doesn't take anything late. If there is one question unanswered on the homework, full zero. She isn't understanding if you are going through a rough patch. The research assignments are absolutely terrible and unnecessary. She will not respond to emails or calls.
Overall, this class is okay to take. Naturally in a Psych class, the assignments make you think and work hard to earn your grade. If you're a motivated online student - you can pass easily. We barely heard from Prof. Kamphaus at all and she usually took a long time to grade assignments. The tests are open book so that's always a plus.
I emailed her on multiple occasions with no response. Arguably the worst professor I have ever had. None of the course work required any thinking and she took months to grade any paper we did. Should not have a job in my opinion.
She was obviously going through a lot in the second half of the semester, however, even in the beginning she was terrible at getting our work graded. We maybe heard from her a total of five times. There is a lot of busy, mindless work, but it's not necessarily difficult. My biggest issue was she never gave feedback on how to improve your work.
The reviews speak for themselves. It is a lot of work and she wants everything done a certain way with no room for mistakes. Also quizzes are only available on the weekends.
The homework assignments have a lot of questions just to be worth 22 points. You have to complete all homework assignments or you will receive a zero. She very particular on how she wants things done and submitted so make sure to read or it will be a zero. The most annoying thing is her taking over a month to grade work.
This class is more work than my other 4 classes combined. The homework is worth very little points. These homework have anywhere from 60-100+ written answer questions. There are quizzes that must be completed on weekends. The Professor also does not grade your work for over a month. She also does not respond to emails for at least 5 days.
Quizes only on weekends & are 40 questions in 30 min & 85% fill in the blank. Never responds to emails & stays way behind on grading. Crazy but easy workload. If you skip or miss one question on the hw, which is 5-6 pages BEFORE you start, you get a zero. I think she teaches to many classes at once and gets behind. don't take if don't have too.
By far the worst professor I've had yet. Does not respond to emails for weeks. Timed exams with lots of questions. You get a 0 if you miss one question on the homework. Has still not graded homework from months ago. Very unforgiving.
Zero feedback. Assignments go ungraded for weeks so you are turning in new ones without even knowing how you did on the previous ones. At the time of finals, had things ungraded from the beginning of October. Emails go unanswered. Have not had an announcement or heard from her since August. Busy work, no actual teaching.
I would not recommend this professor. Her class schedule is a mess, I took the fall semester and it had dates from the summer, and some things had been copy and pasted! She is very hard to get a hold of took 5 days to respond to an email! On December 13th I still had work from October 23rd that hadnt been graded!! No ruberic for final project!
This was probably the worst class I have taken. The professor was very harsh on grading, she never graded anything at an appropriate time, and she hardly gave feedback on what she was expecting for the assignment. The expectations for this class are ridiculous. She expects you to do at least 18-20 hours worth of studying, HW, and reading.
Professor Kamphaus is not the teacher you want to take. I took her online class and everything about her assignments and due dates were messed up. And on top of this she never responded to emails. It got so bad a couple students emailed and spoke on the phone with the dean.
This class was the worst experience I have had with TCC by FAR. However, when push came to shove, if you demonstrated you were actually trying she will show a bit more mercy. It is work heavy but the due dates are biweekly. Meaning you have 2 weeks to complete about 10-15 assignments varying in length. Beware of the final project.
sucks
If you actually read the chapters and do the assignments you will pass. I used 1 day a week to read a chapter and do the learning curve/written homework and I passed with a 96%. She will not respond to emails. She posted an empty discussion board and did not notice until the next week because she didn't look at any of the classes mass emails.
NEVER take a class w/ Susan Kamphaus! 8wk course, didn't receive any grades for 5 wks, never provides feedback, the final project had no rubric, very few guidelines, & no grading feedback. She will not let you have discussions on the discussion boards. Her info for assignments is severely outdated with current APA guidelines. HORRIBLE "professor".
She doesn't respond to emails, and the grading criteria is ridiculous, if you don't answer 1 question you get a zero on the homework. The discussion board post instructions are not clear, and her paper for the homework for unit 6 is messed up.
Professor Kamphaus is one of my favorite professors I've had at TCC. I had her PSYC1113 class for the fall semester of 2022, I'm a concurrent enrollment student so I was also taking many other high school courses along with my college classes. This course is reading-heavy, but as long as you read and do the work, you will pass with at least a B.
Professor Kamphaus was an absolute amazing professor to have. She really cared about each and everyone of her students and prepared us well for exams and our major project at the end of the semester. I would definitely recommend her!
Her assignments are ridiculous- they're worth 15 points and there's 60-80 questions on it. You get a zero if you forget to answer 1 question. I never got a response in less than 5 days when I email her. You don't know what to study for the tests and her tests are timed- 40 questions in 30 minutes. It's a very frustrating class. Avoid is possible.
This professor did not grade in a timely manner if I am being honest, it took her a long time just to get my first ever few assignments graded. The quizzes were opened only during the weekends so you had to spend your weekend doing a quiz that had a time limit of 30 minutes. The written homework consisted of at least 50 or more questions.
She gives you plenty of time to finish homework just make sure it's 100% complete or you get a zero. The final was a lot of work but again she gives us lots of time and a detail list on what she expects. Make sure you read the chapters before each test, they're timed. Overall good chance of succeeding as long as you put in the time.
Prof Kamphaus is easily the worst professor I've had. Your grade gets cut in half if you finish the learning curves too quickly and there's homework with 20-60 questions worth only 5 points. She also doesn't respond to emails, she posted the instructions for our final a week late and we could only get 2 extra days to make up for it.
Don't come into this class thinking you'll do any work ahead. You can't even get ahead on reading. The first day of work is a lot there are many assignments for that one day. The time for the unit test is too short. It will be weeks before she grades the discussion boards, even if directions are followed. If you have ADHD good luck.
If you miss answering one question on the homework, you get a zero. It's split up where there are only 4 of these within the semester. It has a lot of work involved. So, if you miss a question or fail to answer an aspect of a question, you get a zero. That is a quarter of your homework grade. No late work. Ever. No extra credit.
this professor does not care about you, your grades, or how her teaching style is so outdated. i kept an A all semester after all the busy work and dropped to a D last week of class because of tech difficulties and she refused to believe me because obviously tech is perfect. i have never experienced a more disrespectful conversation with a teacher
The workload is heavy. Plan to dedicate a lot of time. Strict grading. Sometimes documents for the assignments were not attached, I would email her about it and she would respond after the due date. takes a long time to hear back from her. Information on syllabus and announcements were different. Things were just extremely confusing and stressful.
My experience with Prof kamphaus was quite frustrating. Our online exams had a 20 minute time limit, she did not email back regularly, and she had some weird requirements like not being able to post a discussion post and a response post on the same day or else we would be penalized. She was not a hard grader, but overall not my fave
Professor Kamphaus can be hit-or-miss. Her class is reading-heavy, but manageable if you put in the work. Avoid her online sections - students report issues with communication and grading. Unstuck study was a big help for prepping.
Probably one of the worst online professors. I knew I wouldn't like her class after reading the snobby sounding syllabus. FIND ANOTHER PROFESSOR.
I did the 8wk online course, would not recommend. Numerous technological issues, and professor was not accessible to resolve problems. Tons of textbook reading and quizzes/tests had short time limits. Discussions due weekly, but you lose credit for posting and responding to others on the same day. Absolutely no exceptions for late/missed work.
Her Quiz dose not match her Assignments and she takes a month to respond to emails litterally.
Coursework was easy, mostly tasks through McGraw Hill. There is ample time given to complete each assignment (about a 2-week time period). You cannot get ahead in this class, except for the readings. Do not miss an assignment due date, because there is a really low chance she'll open it for you. I recommend taking a different teacher if possible
I got so much out of this course, I loved her lectures more than anything because she was very engaging and always had a story to tell to help you visualize the concepts, I highly recommend taking this professor because she is kind, entertaining, and very helpful.
Online class was frustrating. Emails take weeks, quizzes don't match material, and the final project has a 5-page instruction manual with strict MS Word/PPT rules. No extra credit, no late work, no reopened assignments. Felt like she didn't enjoy teaching. Wouldn't recommend!
