She's a simply a good teacher. She presents multiple views on pieces of writing and is very easy to follow and fun to listen to. She's very helpful and willing to let you express yourself in your own way and not force a certain technique on you. She encourages you to write about YOUR interest and is very open to new ideas.

She was fun, helpful and always ready to teach. She would read drafts over the weekend and e-mail changes before they were due. I would take her for my next writing class.

Laidlaw is an extremely good writing teacher. She is always helpful. The class consisted of 3 papers that are all turned in at the end of the semester so you are free to work on these at your own pace. She personally makes sure everyone is on the right track to do good on the 3 papers.

Really awesome prof. Only has you write 3 papers, rather than 4 like other profs. Gives you a lot of days off, check blackboard regularly to see if she's given you the day off! She's willing to help you every step of the way with papers, and offers really good constructive criticism. Really fun, and makes a painful class relatively easy.

I loved this class. She encourages you to write about what YOU want, and not to focus on the assignment aspect of it. She really lets you run with your creativity in this class unlike other WRT150 profs that my friends had. She splits you into groups in the class and makes every other week optional to come to class which was really nice.

YOU NEED HER FOR WRT 150. This class is rough, you need a C to pass. If you skip more than 4 classes she will fail you, however, she is a little easy on this policy. She is such a good teacher and you only have to write 3 papers! Some classes write 7! She is just the best and you need to take her class!!!!!!

Words cannot describe how much I respect Prof. Laidlaw. She is the kindest teacher I have ever had. She is really there for her students and will do anything for you to get an A as long as you show that you deserve an A. I am so sad that this class is over because I looked forward to her classes. Professor Laidlaw is hands down the best professor at GVSU. Her class was the only one I looked forward too and arguably got me through the semester. Assigns only three papers for the portfolio leaving tons of time for revision and one on one feedback. Clear, concise, wonderful. Not enough characters to write how great she is. Take her.

Such an amazing professor! Knows what she's doing and gives incredible feedback to help you succeed. Only assigns three papers that you have all semester to work on before you turn your portfolio in at the end. Usually let us out early and halfway through the semester made every other Wednesday mandatory to show up to. Made WRT 150 bearable!

Susan is the only reason I survived the "dreadful WRT150"! I am an awful writer and she is so helpful. She only requires 3 essays, and gives you the whole semester for revision. Makes is clear she wants everyone to get an A. Cool about disregarding the 4 skip policy. So approachable and goes beyond to insure that you get a good grade! TAKE HER!!!!

She was helpful, but I asked her many times to read through my papers to see if they were good and she never did. She told me nothing was wrong with my papers after just skimming through them. I took my papers to the writing center 4 times, and they couldn't find anything wrong, and I got a terrible grade. pretty upset.

Doesn't demand as much as most writing 150 professors. Only 3 essays compared to 4 or 5 others have you do.

Professor Laidlaw is the best writing professor! She only makes you do three papers and the first two papers you get to write about things that interest you! The best teacher by far. If you are taking Writing 150, I highly recommend this teacher. There is only one assignment prior to the three papers you need for your portfolio, which is a short writing prompt. All semester long you are working on your three papers. Class was very laid back and she really cares about your success in Writing 150.

Professor Laidlaw was so encouraging and really prioritized one-on-one feedback! There were only three papers assigned, and she was very good at giving check-in points throughout the semester. I wouldn't say her classes are super mandatory, especially for strong writers, but she's so enjoyable that it's worth going!

I honestly hated taking WRT 150 because the portfolio was your entire grade. But, professor Laidlaw definitely tries her best to make every student get an A. She gives awesome feedback with every paper and always has them back to you in no time. The only downside to having this prof is the lack of assignments.

Susan is so down to Earth & she genuinely wants to see her students succeed. Towards the end of the semester, the class becomes not mandatory. If you have any question Susan is so happy to help and gives really good feedback, I would take this class again any day.

BEST PROF EVER!! She is amazing, totally gets college students, and won't waste your time. A's are hard to get in wrt150 but if you want one she'll get you one, if not and your happy with a B or C she'll let you get that and not pressure you to do more than what you have or want to do. Susan is a great professor. I never really liked writing in high school but she made the class fun and lighthearted. Very laidback and casual and gives great feedback. While a textbook is required for 120 you dont do any assignments from it as it helps guide your papers. In the world of covid she is very flexible and allows you to be online.

Susan is the best professor I have had so far. Not only is she clear in her lectures, but she is also such a caring woman overall. She is very personal, wants to learn your name and some things about you. At lab each week she sits and talks through your topics with you. She literally sees potential in almost everyone's writing. This is one of the best professors I've ever had. She's incredibly sweet, encouraging, and was extremely helpful with the questions I would ask. She's very clear on the criteria for her assignments and is an impressively organized professor.

I had them in the Pilot WRT 150 class, and she was amazing and so incredibly honest she described the class as "A plane being built in flight" and that is the case. We have experimented with formats over the semester, from recorded lectures and group meetings and whole class meetings, but all of them were so easily accessible my favorite class.
