bbooorrrring!!! easy U.P., but very dull
Boring but not too hard.
Extra credit galore! Buy the course pack and you will never have to take notes
kinda slow and boring, but easy, good for a UP, nice lady
she always sounds like she is about to cry.
Easy class, Nice lady, works for UP but somewhat of boring
Easy class but boring.
This was fun. What other class to you get to listen to music.I thought itwas fun
Very nice lady, seems very real. Learned a lot in the class. Great UP class
nice lady, EASY class, annoying concerts to attend
sleep during the 8am class and still get an A
Great lady. Very nice and helpful with anything
Nice Lady, need to study if you don't understand music
easy class, but very boring
Buy the CoursePack and you won't have to take notes.Concerts weren't bad, only 2
the best class for an 8am class: wake up tkae some notes and listen to music...
Easy but boring, Go to class because of random quizes. Tests are simple!
The Project was Fun if you love music, class was cool, she was nice
fun and easy, what else can you ask for from a UP?

Always sounds like she's going to cry. Can we say INSECURE?? Easy class,
Very boring class and the concerts are too.

In what other class do you get to listen to Bohemian Rhapsody?!
If you know anything about music you will ace this class!
A joke of a class....easy A to help the GPA.
Very Easy. Boring subjects and lecture is close to having teeth pulled.
The perfect 8:00 AM class: 300 sleepy people listening to music in a lecture hall. Really simple. Hard not to get an A.
Probably the coolest teacher at Central Michigan University.
Good Teacher
Class is an easy A, but also very interesting. She doesn't just play classical music all the time, but uses examples from things you would already know. I definitely have a greater appreciation for classical music, and just music in general. Excellent!
Very Easy Class If You Just Study Before The Midterm And Final, You Also Have To Write Two Concert Reports (Easy A's If You Know ANything) I Reccomend Taking This Class :-D
very nice lady. very helpful and wants everybody to do well. go to class and there is no reason why you won't get an A.
Very easy class that is very interesting (if you like things about music and older times). She is also very helpful and very fair when it comes to the work. Very nice woman. I highly recommend her :o)
went to the class 7 times outta 32 and got an A
EASY CLASS! Nice lady who is more than willing to help. I know NOTHING about music and got an A. Concert reports are a joke and the tests are repeats of the quizzes! TAKE THIS CLASS!
Good teacher, interesting course. Don't take if you've had ANY music history class before, you'll be bored. Easy grader.
easy class she struggles at times controlling all 250+ people in the class. but, who wouldn't? you can tell she really loves the music she covers... most people in the class don't seem to enjoy it so much.
Very easy class, but boring at times. Prof sounds like she is crying when she lectures though. You are more than well prepared for the two tests that are given in the class. Can get away with skipping every once in a while.
Easy Class but sooooooooo boring! Lectures and the concerts you have to go to are torture! Very nice lady though! Easy A!
Class is pretty straigh-forward. Professor and SI are both very helpful. Class is interesting enough if you like music of any kind.
Gives you fill-in guided notes on blackboard. Lectures are boring, skipping won't kill you, but beware of attendance quizes. I didn't go to class for a month and still got a B on the midterm. Points out interesting things in the music though
This a fun fun fun class. and very worthwhile. you learn a lot without realizing it
This teacher is awesome. She's very informative and made me appreciate music a lot more. Took for an easy A, but ended up being one of my favorite classes...
Very Boring class...Very Easy A!
The class isn't terribly exciting, but it is pretty easy. You do have to go to 2 concerts, that kinda sucks but hey, no Friday class.
Don't go to class....just go to the SI sessions about 3 times and you'll get an A...Oh and the Concert reports, they read them now, so follow the rubric & you'll be GREAT
loved this class, very sweet lady. she really knows her subject and is passionate about music. learned a lot, but still easy class. very talented musician, really wants students to learn and apprec. music. be sure to do study guides for exam!
I really enjoyed this class, Dr. Lindahl is very knowlegable and frankly is a very easy grader. All quizzes in the class are credit/no credit, all you have to do is show up to lecture. A midterm, a final, and 2 papers, that's it.
This class is not bad at all. The concerts kind of suck but if I can give you any advice on them it is to go to one of CMU's concerts instead of persay The Midland Orchestra...The class seems really easy but you have to study for exams
She is really, really easy if you go to class. Make sure you go to the concerts though, or else you are screwed.
nice professor. if u go to all classes you will be able to do well.
if you go to class everyday and take some notes, theres no reason you shouldnt get at the very least a B+
She is an excellent professor! She wants the students to do well. If you go to class, take notes, and follow the paper guidelines...you will have an easy A in the class. Also, you can get 10 pts extra credit by going to the writing center for each paper.
This class is really easy and really boring. The teacher doesn't do much, but the way the class is set up it shouldn't be hard to get an A. Do extra credit
This class is so easy, you just go to class, copy the notes, and you will pass.
class is fun, easy, interesting, and keeps you from sleeping! she's helpful, funny, and interesting! the work load is easy, just read and take some quizzes! terms and concepts are simple and she repeats them and ties them to together which really helps!
Easy class, good teacher. Just do the 2 papers (very easy) and show up for the exams.
This class is VERY easy and the teacher is very nice. It can get boring sometimes if you are not interested in music. There are basically 2 papers that you write and that is your entire grade...VERY easy!
She makes this class easy and fun. Note guidelines are on blackboard, you just have to fill them in at class. There are 2 exams that come straight from the notes, and youh have to go to 2 concerts and write a really simple paper about both of them. Easy online quizzes each week. Take this class!
You can re-take the online quizzes as many times as you want. I didn't do real well on the exams, but did all the extra credit and got an "A". Easy class overall with a little effort.
Nice lady...easy class...online quizes are easy!
easy class. u can retake online quizes. papers are easy. but if u take the one night a week class sometime u forget to go... overall not to bad. shes a nice lady
Very good teacher, helped me a lot let me bump into her other class that was full b/c of another class I had to change. Her helpers are very rude and have a major power trip
Very cool class! Very nice lady! She is one of the best professors here at CMU. She is really helpful and wants her students to understand and appreciate music. LOVED IT!! If you have to take it for pre-req it is an easy class if you go and show some effort. I would take her again.
Doesn't try to make you love opera or classical music, just to appreciate it. Two concert papers that are easy and you can also get extra credit on. Can retake online quizzes until you get 100/100. Gives you study guides for exams and they are easy too. I recommend taking this class.
I took this for a night class it wasn't even that bad. The class is easy. The teacher is very helpful. Online quizzes are easy.
This class only has two tests and has a quiz every week. The quizes are on line and open book so they are not hard. The tests are tricky but there are only two so it is worth it.
This teacher is a lot of fun. The weekly quizzes are online, open-book, and you can retake it as many times as you'd like. The test questions come directly from the quizzes. This is a great introductory course to music.
Her class is easy but very boring. The only thing you will do is listen to classical music and listen to her talk. I didn't learn a whole lot considering I don't ever listent o classical music.
I did not like her at all. On one of our exams, our class average was 46% and she did nothing to help the class get a higher grade. I e-mailed her twice through out the course and got no e-mails in return to answer my questions. She gives no assignments where we work with others, it's all listening to her talk. Take this class from another teacher.
Very easy class, gives extra credit, and easy assignments and quizes, but exams are really hard you have to study. Gives a few in class assignments. Lecture can be boring but helpful.
She teaches as if everyone has taken a music class. She moves way to fast and expects you to be able to follow along with her, it's awful.
I thought this class was easy if you just went to class. She just lectures from the book. There are some assignments and two exams. You'll pass if you go to class and do your assignments.
She thinks that everyone has taken a music class before and moves very fast. i hate going to class because she is sooo borring. i would never take her again no matter what. her voice shakes when she talks like she is nervous...not good!!!
I was in choir since sixth grade and I was in band for a few years in junior high, so I know a little about music, but not a whole lot. I think this is a really easy class, especially if you have any background in music. It is a little dry at times.
She is a great teacher! If you go to class you don't need to read the book. I've never taken music but she makes it interesting. Offered us an e.c. assignment that was worth 2 percentage points. Online quizzes that you can take as many times as you want. I'd recommend her.
Easy class. Papers are easy, you can retake online quizzes till you get 100%, EC opportunity at the end of the semester as well as on the concert reports (only have to go to 2 required concerts). She's really nice, but I'm not gonna lie... fell asleep every day in class. Textbook was useless. Impossible not to get an A or a high B if u try.
Starts off very easy, then gets a little hard. If you go to class you'll do fine. Study a little for mid-term and final, but all quizzes are online. There are Writing assignments and 2 concert reports, but class is only 2 days a week instead of 3. She's very, very passionate about music.
Very easy..but pay attention to the music played in class...
I personally did not find this class to be easy. She really does teach as though we all have a background in music, and half the time I am totally lost in lecture. Her questions on the quizzes are extremely detailed. Take this class if you are wanting a deep understanding of how music works, not just to fill a UP.
Made class enjoyable, very nice lady!
It took me a while to get used to her voice - it's raspy.
First of all, i am not a smart kid. This class is a joke. The prof is nice, but you need to go. I missed more than 1/2 of the classes. Also, if you fail 2-3 exams, don't worry becuase the way they are weighted does not effect you. I got a 60%, then a 40% on my exams but passed the class with a 3.0.
She is very passionate about what she teaches. Pretty much available to help. If you've taken band/choir/music class before, this will be a breeze. If not, be prepared to learn alot of terms. Mandatory concerts suck, but other than that you should easily get an A-B in the class. All quizzes are online and you can retake them as much as you want!
Great Prof. Knows her stuff and is VERY passionate. If you're interested in music at all, take this class. It's very interesting. If you have musical background, class is very easy. Study for Midterm and know pieces listened to. All quizzes are online and papers/assignments are easy. Don't need to read if you go to class.
If you print off the guided notes, go to class and take the notes, do the easy and sometimes fun writing assignments, you will do great! She also has online quizzes which help the grade a lot. The midterm was OK. Just study for it a lot! I definately recomend this fun and easy professor! She is very knowledgeable!
The people who seem to do best in this class are people who have taken band for a long period of time.
She is very knowledgable but missing just one quiz accidentally can cause damage to your grade. The exams are very hard in my mind. I recommend taking it with a different teacher.
She is an extremely nice woman and that is the truth, I don't care what anyone else says. She posts an outline for every class period for note taking. The exams were kind of hard, but the online quizes you can take as many times as you want = good! Make sure you do all the extra credit, it added 5 points to my final exam grade!
She doesn't use Blackboard, and although I got a B in the class I don't really know how she graded. There are guided notes on Blackboard however, which are very helpful. She was very helpful, but realize that 114 has to attend two concerts and write reports on them - most music classes for UP do not.
She usually gives all her quizzes online... Which can be helpful at times...
Test are hard, assignments are easy, quiz are online, 2 reports are time consuming but are easy to get a good grade, offers extra credit that adds 5 percentage points to final grade (huge). Find a friend who has the class before you and onle go to the classes that ex credit is given.
class was very boring. the papers aren't hard, the graders are very easy and one of your assignments gets dropped. the exams are SO hard so study a lot. she's nice but its just not a fun class if you don't know technical music terms, she talks over your head sometimes.
She's great! Very passionate and knowledgable about music. All papers and assignments are easy. Just study hard for tests cause they're hard. In general, I listen to music differently now. I would definitely recommend this class!
She is a great professor. Great U.P. to take. The class is overall very easy except the tests can be difficult if you dont go to class. She gives online quizzes that are open book. Study these quizzes for the tests because they will be directly put on the exams.
One of the best professors i've ever had....she is passionate about the subject and her class is really easy. If you even remotely like music and need this for a UP, do not hesitate to take this class.
Easy class. Only the exams can be a little rough. Class is pretty boring. Just print off the note outlines on Blackboard and there's hardly any notes that you have to take in class. Lindahl is a decent teacher and knows her stuff really well.
Easy Class lots of extra credit teacher talks over your head go over quizes good cause they are the exams for the most part.. go to class to get the extra credit its worth it.
Eh... She's ok. Boring class. You need to attend class to do well. Don't use the book much. Exams are hard.
Very passionate Prof. The class is very easy as long as you go to class. Lots of Extra Credit, and its a great class to take for a UP. She helps you experience different types of music, good and bad.
Lindahl is an ok prof. It's an EASY A to get. You can take the quizes over and over til you get 100%, which is what i did every time. Test's are difficult, hard to get an A on. Assignments and concert reports are easy if you just follow the guidelines and take them to the writing center for extra credit, overall i hated the class but got an A.
Take her class, it's very easy to get an A¬
Easy A. She's a little bit of a boring lady but her lectures are at least interesting. You don't need to even go to class but you get extra credit if you do. Take her class! She is by far the best teacher for this class!
Class is extremley easy. Up to 120 extra credit point, by attending class. Teacher knows what she is talking about. She Cares more about her students, then their grades. Some classes are boring. HIGHLY RECOMMED taking this class with this Professor.
Professor Lindahl is very passionate about what she teaches. If you go to class and do the assignments according to the guidelines, you WILL get an A. If you go to class, you will get tons of extra credit that could equal UP TO a full exam grade. I would definitely recommend this for a UP. A little boring, but there's some interesting content.
I like Susan a lot. She is very passionate about what she teaches and she tries to make class somewhat interesting. She is very approachable and will definitely help you if you need it. If you need a UP I would suggest this class. It is a pretty easy class, but you need to do the assignments in order to get a good grade. I do recommend this class!
She is a good person but a horrible professor. You have to be a music major to understand what she is talking about. Don't recommend this class, not bad to look at though. Nice body.
This was prolly the most boring class in the world to sit through. She babbles on about nothing and everything she says makes no sense at all. You have to go to concerts (which suck) and the exams are really hard. I guess if you are a music major then you would understand her, but if your like me dont waste your time.
The subject may not be the most interesting, but she teaches it well. As long as you go to class and do the work, it's an easy A. She gives tons of extra credit based on in class writings-if you're there and do it you get the points.
This class is definately not one of the most interesting ones out there but Susan Lindahl is a good instructor! Her exams are pretty hard if you don't study a lot but she offers a lot of extra credit through in class responses and additional work like online quizzes and writing assignments. The concerts aren't too bad either.
She's extremely helpful. On the last exam, i put my global id and not my name, and she was very helpful in sorting the whole thing out. do the assignments, don't forget about quizzes, and go to class because theres a lot of extra credit. don't put off going to concerts, the last concert before the deadline is usually packed. :)
I found Professor Lindahl to be a great professor. Go to the lectures to keep up with what she teaches and you can get a ton of extra credit just by going. The exams are a little difficult, but just follow her lectures and guided notes. She has four on-line quizzes and two written assignments. The two concerts truly aren't that bad either.
I got below 70% on both in-class exams, and still got an A- overall in the class. Just go to class; there's 100 extra credit points just for being at the lecture. 2 concerts over 16 weeks really isn't that bad. I was really involved with music in high school so this class taught me stuff I didn't know, while briefing me on stuff I already learned.
easy, but boring class. you get a ton of e/c for going to class though. there is an online textbook, and you get to retake all your exams, quiz's and assessments twice, and they almost always give the correct answer, i hardly do anything for that class and i have an A so far
Outstanding professor. You can be an idiot about music, and still understand it with her teaching. Class isn't that exciting, but everything is online and you get multiple attempts at exams even! An easy A, especially if you have any prior experience with music.
One of the best professors at CMU. She's incredibly understanding and helpful. I didn't find anything we did in class boring. She knows what she's talking about and is passionate about it. I highly recommend taking this class with her.
An easy UP class. The coursework this semester was all online, but I hear she is changing it back to the old format. The class was really easy. I barely went and still passed with an A. Make sure to study for the listening test at the end tho. That was a little tough.
She's a very kindhearted person who is passionate about music! She was an incredibly easy teacher, and the class was fun to go to. The online work was tedious and didn't always work, but overall I really liked the class!
Very easy class. All actual grade-work is online, which makes it super easy. She offers up more than a full letter grade of extra credit by simply attending class. You can't get much better than this.
Easy class. Everything was online, got to take tests twice, basically impossible to fail. She is nice but the material is boring. Take it for an easy UP, but honestly not much here is useful.
sssoooo easy! go to class, bc every week/couple days she'll do a in-class response/notecard that counts as 1% added onto final grade, and there is 10-12 total. (i got a 106% in the class bc of that!)**find a small study group and take the online tests/quizzes/assesments togehter/compare-share answers** (can take them 2x!) easy A!
i cant truely rate this teacher becasue i have only gone to class five times and still have an A. so if that tells you anything its pretty easy.
She is very nice and works with the class. You don't really need to go to class but it obviously helps. Textbook is online and so are the tests and quizzes and you can take both twice. Good UP, good teacher.
The textbook is comprised of 2 discs that are like $120. It's all online stuff. Quizes you get to take twice... so just write down the answers & you'll ace it. Gives extra credit in class. There are a few written assignments, but they're not that bad. I knew absolutely nothing about music going into the class, and I'm getting an A with 3 weeks left
I NEVER go to class, and I have a 97%!! All of the quizzes and exams are online, and you can cheat on everyone of them!! This was so easy. You don't need to know anything about music at all to get in the class.
I have been to class probably around 10 times and I have a 102%. You can take everything twice, so just get together with 2 other people and that means you can eliminate all possible answers, to make sure you get a 100%. The only hard things are the written assignments, I managed to BS my way through those and get A's on them too.
Does not grade written assignments fairly, gives no partial credit. Quizzes, and assessments, you can take twice...but don't question an assignment or she will get angry!
I'm not sure how these people managed A's when I got an F from this lady. I went to almost every class and took notes. I forgot to take 3 quizzes online which were worth 4 points each and then she didn't count one of my written assignments because I misunderstood the assignment and that's all.I emailed her and she said that my 55.6 F is accurate
You have to be so dumb not to get an A in this class. I went twice and ended with a 98%. the assignments and quizzes are impossible not to get 100's on: you can take them twice and they give you answers if you're wrong. the exam answers are all on quizzes; just pull up the quizzes in another tab when you take them. Susan seemed pretty mean though
104% going to class is a complete waste of time, plus she just gets angry in class. just make sure you keep up on all the online stuff. Its all so easy.
This class is a cake walk. Easy UP. ENTIRE class is online through a set of CDs. Quizes, Tests, Assignments, even the Final are all electronic. Class is helpful if you don't understand music thoroughly. Provides guided notes on blackboard which helps follow along in class. Wants to see her students do well. Goes that extra mile for them.
VERY VERY easy. Lectures are somewhat boring, but just take notes during class and you'll do fine on the exam. In class responses on notecards do add up for attendance points. You have to go to one CMU concert and write a response. Don't wait until the last minute to do the assessments...took me 4 hours. EASY class, she is nice. Big lecture hall
easiest class i have ever taken. no way anyone should get worse than an A
Easy class. Attendance is not mandatory. The midterm and final is online. The book and music is all online. You have assessments and written work to do - but it all gets turned in online. There are five quizzes - don't forget to take them! I forgot to take one and now have a B, but that's my fault. I would recommend this easy class with her!
Very passionate.
Her lectures are boring, but she brings performers in who can be entertaining. Everything is online except the in class evaluations. You can take most items twice so it is really simple. Overall, the class is very simple as long as you remember due dates for everything. If youre a hard core new age person dont take the class, the music is all older
Great UP to take. Class is somewhat boring, but she uses an online textbook where you can work at your own pace on assignments. All quizzes and exams are online too which you can use notes! Easy class I would recommend it.
Attendance is not mandatory, but when you actually show up, the lecture is very interesting. Teacher is passionate and well-read. Tests and assignments are easy.
Quizes are online. 2 papers are concert reviews. Very easy grader. 100 points extra credit for the whole semester. The only time you really have to study is for the mid-term and final. There are in-class responses so go to class! Overall pretty easy. Interesting topic and show videos often! Definitely take this class for a UP!
Easiest class you could ever take!
Nice teacher. Terrible subject. If it wasn't the subject that it was i would have enjoyed the class.
I hate music (so I found lectures boring) and am practically tone deaf, so I was really worried about taking it, but I got an A in this class. I made sure I did really well on the midterm and did all of the EC papers which made it so that I could get a 50% on the final. Do quizzes with a friend and follow directions on the concert reviews.
VERY knowledgeable. Good teacher, just make sure you check the due dates for all your stuff.
A very committed professor. Class is easy, adjust point values at the end to help everyone. She would be much more effective in a smaller class. Very enjoyable though, take the class if you can...it will take care of an UP and you will enjoy the hour.
Super easy class. Have to attend to turn in note cards. She adjusts the grade at the end and I had over 100 percent. All the tests are online and you can use notes. If you need an easy UP definitely take this one.
Very sweet lady. Super nice, very helpful and interested in her students. I wasn't impressed with the online textbook, but the class was very easy and she's a good professor.
I had an A before the final exam. I walked in, put my name on a bubble sheet and walked out on finals day. Easiest class I've ever taken.
Easy class. She says no laptops at the beginning of the semester, but you can bring them in anyway. Complete the guided notes in class, and use them for the homework and quizzes. No need to buy the text, other than to access the username code you need to do the homework and quizzes (which comes with the *very expensive* book when you buy it.)
Good UP class. She is a really nice professor & always willing to help. The material can be kind of heavy but we only had two tests. Quizzes & homework is all online & you get two attempts. Go to class to do the notecards, it's easy points. You have to attend two concerts & possibly do a project, easy busywork. I actually enjoyed this class a lot.
After hearing wonderful things about the class and how easy it was, I decided to take MUS 114 with Susan. Her class has drastically changed between this semester and her past semester alone. While I took 120 question tests, friends of mine took 20 question quizzes. Unless you are truly interested in music, I would avoid this class at all costs.
Great teacher. Makes notes for all material, all tests/homework is online and you can check your answers, so there's no way to fail. She's extremely sweet, pushes back due dates and cancels exams. She's extremely flexible and interested in making the class work out for you. I suggest taking this class to relax your schedule and fulfill a UP!
great prof. the homework is online and you can check your answers so you will always get 100%. and the online quizzes are easy. there are only 2 exams. pretty easy UP.
She is a really nice lady, and the class was quite easy. All homework and quizzes are online and you can check your homework answers until you get 100%. She offers lots of extra credit, you have to attend 2 concerts, and write a review. Total of 2 papers and 2 exams that are very easy. Overall easy UP.
I had heard good things about this teacher from my roommate and she did not disappoint. She's a really nice lady and basically if you do the assignments and put forth effort, you get full credit. Best honors class I've taken and I would highly recommend taking it.
If one can't even get a C as final grade in this class, he/she shouldn't been in college. Even if you have no music theory background, you should be able to get at least a B. Just attend the class, take notes, and read your textbook!
Attendance is not "mandatory" but mandatory to gain a certain amount of participation points. Susan is so enthusiastic about the subject she teaches. I was not but I did the hmwk assignments and do the extra credit and you can get 105% in the class.Buy the book and site pass for 80 use google and the site and re-sell the un-opened book!
Very interesting class. I enjoyed it overall. Susan is a good teacher and she is lenient about attendance because she understands college kids have harder classes. The class is easy as long as you take notes. I hardly tried and still got a 98%. Just attend the concerts and do the papers she assigns and you'll be just fine.
Great teacher. Knows what she is talking about and always makes sure the class understands the material. Very helpful. I bombed both of the exams, but still ended up with over a 100% because there is so much extra credit. If you do well on all of the quizzes and do all of the extra credit opportunities, you will get an A.
I skipped the final exam and still got an A. Take this class.
Take this class with this professor. This class is seriously so easy and you should get an A without a problem. If you do the assignments you will get an A on them.
She is very sweet and really cares about her students. The class is beyond easy and if you can't get an A, you should not be in college. (Make sure you take MUS 114 with her though! The other guy teaching it was really hard I heard)
very easy class, and very nice professor. Go to class and do assignments and you will recieve an A
The class wasn't that easy for me (I failed the first midterm) but I still got an A in the class with the curve. Attendance points each day.
Easiest class I have ever taken. If you passed 4th grade? You can get an A. If you want to really learn about music? You can do that too. You can't go wrong with this class.
Lindahl is a great teacher. The class is easy if you just pay attention. That's all she really expects is for you to pay attention and when people don't and they start talking she becomes annoyed which is understandable. She doesn't grade the papers herself though she has TA's grade them and they can be STRICT!
Easy enough course to pass if you need to pick a course to fill your schedule.
The whole class is based off points, so all you have to do is just show up, you'll get an A. All the homework is online and open note.
Very good professor. She is super nice and helpful if you need anything. Most of the points come from online homework assignments which is based off the book. Easy A if you go to class. She also does polls in class that you answer for points. Very knowledgeable and passionate about music. Definitely take her!
Very good professor. She is super nice and helpful if you need anything. Most of the points come from online homework assignments which is based off the book. Easy A if you go to class and do the assignments. She also does polls in class that you answer for points. Very knowledgeable and passionate about music. Definitely take her!
Susan was such an incredibly nice lady! This class is an easy A because she wants everyone to succeed. Just do the homework and briefly study for the midterm and final and you'll be golden! i don't know how anyone can not get an A in her class!
DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! All you need is an access code and the notes she goes over in class. I skipped the last exam and got a 98% in the class. Very easy and she's very friendly. Do the extra credit and you'll be golden and not have to take the final exam!(:
Susan is a great professor and makes the class super easy. There's a lot of extra credit and the homework and quizzes are online so use the book because all the answers are there. Easiest A of my life.
Dr. Lindahl is a saint! Easiest class I have ever taken and I did learn a lot. She is a wonderful professor.
Such a sweet lady. And one of the easiest UP's at Central. Just go to class for the poll everywhere points and do the homework and online quizzes and you'll be set. Plenty of extra credit opportunities given in class too. So while attendance isn't mandatory, it's in your best interests to go.
Easiest class at CMU. Just go to class for poll points, and do the online homework & quizzes with friends. 1 mid-term exam. Tons of extra credit. If you don't get an A in this class I am concerned why you're still at college.
Class was really boring but you have to go to get the poll points. didn't learn a thing. do all homework
Prof. Lindahl was a great teacher. she explains things well in class and there are a lot of easy assignments that boost your grade a lot. you are required to go to 2 concerts and write about them but it wasnt too bad. she give some extra credit that helps a lot. do the work and its an easy A
Don't buy the text book if you can get the online stuff separate. The lectures are super boring and she does random attendance polls. Overall, she gives a lot of extra credit to keep your grade up and there are only two exams the whole semester. Easy A
It's an easy class. Perfect class for UPs
Professor Lindahl made the class so easy! It's the easiest class I have ever taken. So much extra credit throughout the semester I only needed a 12% on the final exam to get an A...
Such a sweetheart! I had no music interest or background before this class and still got an A. Super easy grader, and enthusiastic every single day.
Easiest class at CMU, I finished with 102% in the class and all I did was show up and do the online assignments. You really dont even have to come to class. all the assignments are online and the book is online. If you dont get an A in this class, how did you even get into CMU.
Super boring class, but she does polls during class that give you points for attendance, but you can download an app and do it from your room too. You have a few papers to write, but they're all really easy and don't relate to what you're learning about. If you go to class and pay attention, you should do pretty well.
Professor Lindahl is a good professor if you want a padder class. She is an easy grader and the home work she gives you is easy. If you need and extra 3 credit class take this.
BEWARE! I took this class expecting it to be an easy A, and get a UP done. I've been in band since the 5th so I'm not unexperienced. This class was actually pretty tough and a good deal of work. This doesn't reflect the professor but she treats it like the end all be all. So unless you have a great interest in music choose a different UP.
Prof Lindahl is such a nice lady. You do have to attend 2 music concerts and write short reviews for them which suck but they aren't that bad. She offers and extra credit concert you can go to and many other extra credit opportunities. The homework she assigns are kinda long but easy As.
EASIEST class I have taken. She gives out extra credit all the time, and is super nice, and makes it super easy to get an A.
She is super nice and class is pretty easy. She gives extra credit and lots of participation points which boost grade a lot. Go to the two mandatory concerts, do the study guides she provides (which have exact questions that are on the test) and you will pass.
The extra credit she gave out boosted me to a 101% prior to the final so I only had to get a 12% on that. It was a very easy class, you get in class points, online hw and quizzes are easy. You have to go to two concerts and write papers on them but they aren't hard. Professor Lindahl was great and she made me want to switch my major to music.
Super easy but insightful class. She wants you to succeed if you work for it just a little bit. Great lady.
I love professor Lindahl. She made this class ( my last of undergrad) so much fun! I learned, but mostly got to enjoy sitting in class and acing things with little effort. Didn't miss a class- didn't do any extra credit but the extra concert and ended with so many points I didn't even need the final for an A. This was a wonderful class to take!
One of the best professor at CMU! You learn a lot in her class and she is willing to help anyone in need! This class will save your GPA!
This class was easy. There was homework every week, but the homework is easy and you have a week to do it online. The exams are a little more difficult, but there are only three of them, non of which are cumulative. There are 2 concerts you have to go to outside of class and write a review on, which can be a pain. Gives Extra Credit.
Easiest class I've taken in my life. If you get lower than an A than an A you need to get your crap together. Easy UP to get out of the way.
Wow, she is the sweetest lady I've ever met. This class was actually relaxing. We did some writing and her feedback was very positive. She loves her subject and her students. We went over to her house for a living room concert where she made us hot cider and snacks and for the final we had take-home essay questions and pizza and watched a musical.
She's a very sweet lady and is incredibly passionate about music. Respect her and she will respect you back. I would definitely take this again
Large lecture class. Attendance was 9% of overall grade and was based off of turning in about 9 notecards though out the semester w/a few short answers on unannounced, random days. I barely ever went to class and did just fine though. kind of a lot of HW online but you can guess on questions again and again until you get 100% so its easy.
Dreaded this class every week. Does in class participation for points do you can't skip. Makes the subject much harder and confusing than it really is. Quizzes and online assignments every week. Take this class with a different prof because it should not have been this hard
Class was filled with fill in the blank notes and that's all you needed to study and fill out the study guides with. Tests go along with the study guide and there's even a review in class for extra credit. She's helpful but a little sassy. Online homework was super easy too, it didn't take long at all.
She is by far my favorite professor here at CMU! She is so nice and is willing to work with you in any given situation. There are quizzes online every week but you can take them until you get 100%. I took this as a writing intensive and there were only 3 short papers so it was a relief. I would definitely recommend her for MUS 114WI!
I really liked her! She was very respectful to students and understood that not everyone would learn at the same pace. Very organized!!!! Loved the online quizzes that you could take until you reached 100%. Lots of Extra Credit opportunities. She really cared about music and teaching music to students who probably have never studied it yet.
Susan was a great professor. She gave many extra credit opportunities, and allowed everyone to pass with at least an A if effort was put in. Showing up to class is not mandatory, but is very helpful in order to receive a high grade. She is very passionate about music, but is also respectful to those that aren't.
Professor Lindahl was an awesome professor. She is very passionate about music, and it makes it easy to put in the effort. If she can tell you are trying you will get a good grade. Attendance is highly recommended.
Professor Lindahl is a great professor, who does a good job at explaining the idea of music to non music majors. She gives you guided notes, and if you pay attention you will do good on the exam. She offers lots of extra credit, and gives you ample time to complete assignments.
Although I don't understand music nor have I ever taken a music class, she made things very simple. The only way you wouldn't pass this class is if you didn't do any of the work. If you put in the effort, regardless of your test grades, you WILL pass with an A
Prof. Lindahl was great. She knew that almost the entire class was taking it because it was an easy UP. Easy homework- online music guides that had to be completed in a week. No reason why you can't get an A. All the answers were in the book, so the assignments were very easy. She's a great prof. if you don't understand music, as she makes it fun!
As I'm sure for many who are reading this I am not in the music program nor am I an expert even after this course. But it was a really easy to pass course, professor Lindahl offers a ton of extra credit and you can't not get a 100% on the online homework and quizzes. If you need a music class for graduation this is the way to go.
Dr. Lindahl is great! I am not majoring in anything music-related, but took this class because I heard it was an easier WI. She doesn't even give that many writing assignments, and the ones that she does assign are easy. The homework is really simple and the exams aren't too bad either. Go to class because she does in-class assignments sometimes.
Great class. All you have to do is show up and pay attention (make sure you get the right notecards). I went to a performing arts school in middle school so I already knew most of the things but she does explain things really well and she is willing to help if you dont. The class was with about 200 other kids so go to her office hours, if need be.
Organized professor, very nice lady, and very understanding. Easy A if you attend class and put forth the effort. Learned a lot I have never known before. Would recommend if you were to take the class.
She isn't the most sympathetic professor, but it is so easy to pass the class. She offers so much extra credit and you can take the quizzes until you get 100% on them. Show up to class though because there are little in-class responses that add up to 150 points throughout the semester. You have to attend 2 concerts and write about them. Overall OK.
Lindahl was a great professor to have for this class. You are required to go to 2 concerts for the class throughout the semester, but less than other mus114 professors. If you keep up on the online quizzes (you can always get 100%) and do the extra credit youll be totally fine. She really wanted her students to succeed and is very helpful!
Pay attention in class or get notes from a friend and you'll do fine. There are in class quizzes at the end, but you can use notes. 3 tests, 2 concerts and 1 project all easy to get A's on. She is helpful if you email her or talk to her after class. Boring class, but super easy A.
She was awesome! Doesn't take attendance, but does in class responses randomly. Easy A if you have the notes. Exams you can use a notecard, so it isn't too bad. Plenty of opportunities for extra credit! Would definitely take her again.
Professor Lindahl is easily one of CMU's best. Plenty of extra credit opportunities, and attendance is not taken, although there are weekly "quizzes" that you can use notes on. You have to attend 2 concerts outside of class and write a review about them but it isn't as bad as it sounds. This is a very easy class, and Susan only helps to prove it
Susan is a great professor and offers a ton of extra credit. It is extremely hard to not get above an A- in this class. No attendance is taken, however, there are 12 quizzes throughout the semester. Most of the time you can use your notes, she provides you the answer, or gives you points for trying. This is a very easy class for a UP.
Super easy class for nonmusic majors. Definitely have to put effort into studying for exams if you want a good grade but there are a lot of easy points in the class to boost your grade if you don't do well on the exams. Tons of extra credit points (I went into the final exam with over 100% in the class). Online HW due before class is easy.
Very nice professor that offers LOTS of extra credit, even free points on tests (ie. "just mark A"). If you're struggling, which shouldn't happen much, she is very accessible for office hours and gets back to you frequently on emails. Topics are also interesting and easy to learn also it's just music and learning to appreciate it. Fantastic class
Mrs. Lindahl is definitely one of my favorite instructors i've had so far. I took her class for a WI. Not very challenging, but broadens the mind. If you need a WI you should take her class.
You can miss class, but don't skip all the time. It's pretty straight forward as long as you go and do the reading. You have to attend concerts as well, like choir concerts.
She was wonderful! Her class is fairly low-stress and she gives MANY opportunities to get some extra points. If you put in a little work, the class is easy!
This probably one of the best classes I've taken at CMU so far. I highly recommend Lindahl. This is an easy, comprehensive class to take. Lindahl really cares strongly about the subject. If you need to fill a UP credit definitely take her class. The online hw is very easy!
This class is pretty difficult not to get an A in if you put in any effort whatsoever. Clear instruction and clear exams.
Awesome. Cares about each student and wants everybody to learn and pass her class.
nice lady but the online material that we had to take three times a week was the most irritating thing I've dealt with my entire college career. the online system was terrible. makes me never want to listen to music again
