Hello, who doesn't love her infectious laugh and great personality? She is a crack up and a fine instructor. Her knowledge spans beyond her specialty and she takes no pains to share it.

She is an excellent professor. She is misunderstood, for her arrogance and her expressiveness. She is an amazing teacher, and anyone who thinks different, needs to get a life and go eat Sh't!! If I could, I would simply tell her, that she should keep up the good work, not like that would change her.

One of the best Teachers i've ever had. If i weren't going to art school, i'd be an English Major because of her. This class opened up a whole other world of writing i never realized existed. professor lowry knows her subject matter and sometimes even more and she tells you about it. she makes the class fun and allows discussions in class, she likes new ideas and she is willing to help you.

AVC Best Teacher!!!!

"Difficult But Fair." Very clear on instruction, and just a fun class to be in. The movie War Photographer was crazy. The class discussions go all over the place, we ended up talking about water for about 30 minutes. And dont forget the Joshua trees. Probably one of the Best teachers iv'e ever had, english or not.

When I took Lowry's english 103 class, I wasn't sure if I'd like it, but I really loved it. Besides the fact she's such a cool down to earth person, she helps you with anything you need and she is truly genuine. You have work to do and she's pretty strict about it. I would take any class she teaches!

I would highly recommend anyone to take her English classes I have had her for English 99 & English 101, best teacher ever do your work, ask questions, turn in assignments on time, and you would be fined. The most caring professor in the entire world, I went from couldn't complete any englist class all the way up to now I can write essays all day on any subject. If you want to succeed, then this is the professor you want!

Took her for 99, 101, & 103, and I had fun in each classes. She is very fun and very helpful. The papers should not be very hard at all. Even if you do struggle with your papers, she is more than willing to help you out. She is one of the best teachers in AVC. I highly recommend this awesome teacher.

A great all around teacher. She knows her subject and knows how to teach, AVC's lucky to have her. We had 10 reading responses and an end of semester critical analysis of a text, but beyond that it's all pure discussion which made this class wonderful. Students are highly encouraged to talk which is a plus. If you love English take this class.

She is a great teacher; always ready to answer your questions and help you as many times needed on your revisions so you can pass the class. Alway take your text book, handbook and homework to class or she will kick you out of class for the day for not being preparedand mark you absent. She is nice but if you get her mad, she can be mean too.

Susan Lowry is great! Had her for 097, 099, and 101. She really helps you out if you have a problem in something. One thing is that you need to make sure you do the work. If you show up to class without the needed books or assignments from the night before she will kick you out.

This is a great professor and person. She tries to be intimidating sometimes but she's super nice. I never knew English could be so interesting and fun as I'm a math major. She actually makes you feel smart and doesn't act full of herself. One of the best experiences I've had, would definitely take her again.

Lowry is an absolutely amazing professor. Very centered around discussion of the reading, so you must read and must attend the class! Sometimes her lectures on certain important topics are a little dry,but always informative and useful. She has a great sense of humor and is quite funny herself and it will show through and make the class enjoyable.

Dr. Lowry is great! In total there are 3 essays, 12 journals, and 1 final in class essay. She gives extremely useful and helpful feedback on every essay, which is great because you get to see where you can improve and grow as a writer. Doing your journals, and the reading is a must! I really liked having Susan as a teacher. The only thing you really have to do is participate and write 3 out-of-class papers. I loved how she has conferences for each paper so that way you get the highest grade possible. She tries so hard to make sure you are the best writer and researcher you can possibly be.. Best English Teacher that I have ever taken! Some professors are easy and other's are good, but Lowry is both. Some of her lectures changed the way I view things. She is a very open-minded person and she makes you comfortable. You can learn a lot in her class, but without the worry that you won't get an A.

Love, Love, Love her! Dr. Lowry is amazing. There are 3 essays and a final, uses ted talks, online articles and books so be prepared to read ALOT. If you struggle with writing essays she is the perfect professor to take for English. She allows you to make as many corrections to your essay as needed to get an A and she gives great feedback!

She is an amazing professor! She uses TED Talks and Youtube videos to help with her lectures. If you need help with your papers she will always set some time aside to help you. She is hilarious and is an amazing woman. She will grade your papers and give them back with comments! If you want to rewrite your paper you can return if for another grade!

Dr .Lowry is an amazing woman and she for sure inspired and changed my life . English 103 was by far one of the best classes I have ever taken it was amazing .

Dr. Lowry is an amazing teacher, she cares, and motivates students. there is a lot of reading and writing(two reading responses every week). if you don't participate you will not get an A, even if you work hard. she uses lots of bad words during lecture. there is a presentation and a research project (10pgs) due at the end of the semester.

Dr. Lowry is a great teacher, she really cares for each student and wants you to pass. Multiple short essays due each week but doable. Shes absolutely hilarious and very approachable. Almost every single lecture is a literary discussion and she happily incorporates and listens to all opinions and interpretations. Highly recommend taking her class.

This class required a lot reading and writing (obviously) but certainly doable. She also gives you an opportunity to redo the reading response (10 in total). One semester long project on any text, movie, or show. She makes time to go over the papers with you. Participation really matters!!

Dr Lowry will show you the ropes in English. She will take extra time to meet with you, help you, and explain things were you can understand them This Professor is a MUST TAKE. YOU WILL LOVE HER FOR ETERNITY I promise you that.

This class and professor were both fantastic. Dr. Lowry kept me laughing the majority of the time while teaching us about Native American culture and literature. The books we read, both individually and as a class, were achingly beautiful. The best advice I can give is to keep up with HW, read regularly, and participate. Take her next spring!

She is so funny and is an easy class to take. She knows and cares about the material. Keep up with HW, reading, and participation and you will be fine. Don't be afraid to ask questions and is willing to hear suggestions. She has tons of personality which makes the class fun. Almost no lectures which is nice for a change.

Participation is a huge part of the class and overall grade. She rarely lectures and we watched two seasons of Rez Dogs. One semester long project that is fairly easy but time consuming so don't procrastinate! She will make sure you keep up though. She gives good feedback on assignments and is a really good professor. Shame she only teaches Spring.

Dr. Lowry is hands down one of the passionate professors at Antelope Valley College. She not only bestows valuable knowledge onto her students, but she also stresses the importance of what you're learning. In terms of English 257, Dr. Lowry has sparked an interest in me to further learn about indigenous peoples. You'll learn a lot, have fun.

Professor Lowry is extremely strict on attendance/readiness so if you're often a late/unprepared student get ready to be called out. I never had a problem with either of those issues but the class vibes felt uncomfortable when I had to witness other students getting lectured. Overall it was an easy A though, I would recommend her for the credits!
