The class to be so boring, but I thought she was pretty good.
hmm..just read the book and memorize the artists works. its pretty easy.
Art Appreciation with her is the EASIEST class there is. Go to class and glance at the text book for 15 minutes before the tests. IT'S EASY
I wasn't a huge art fan entering this class. I leave with these beliefs strongly reinforced.
easy class, took it a few semesters ago. Recieved B would have been A if put any effort in LOL!
She is crazy, and a bit annoying if you get one on one with her...but she's really easy. It's your call, if you can deal with being annoyed and unstimulated, go for it.
Annoying, easy, if you memorize everything
great instructor. you'll luv her
Don't travel with this professor. She just wants to get to Europe herself and takes students as a way to get there. NO teaching is done on the tour.
She's a griper. She gripes about the sign-in sheet. She said that we only needed the skill of a kindergartener to take this class and she purposely makes her tests difficult.
She is a strange one. She says that the class is easy but makes the test hard. Go to class, she has a fit if you miss. Boring and gets ill about small things. Good teacher if you have to take the class. Its your call. Goodluck!
this class is so much fun, you get to color and the tests are easy. all you have to do is read the chapter and study for the tests and you will have an A. I really recommend the class. it is way better than music appreication!!
horrible in class attitude, she will listen to you if you talk to her about something. but takes elective classes way to serious
She gives lots of pointless busy work. You really dont have to go to class to get good grades. Though the class is called art appreciation, its a bunch of memorizing and BS.
very easy class as long as u read and memorize artists names, however does have an attendance policy. other than that would recommend to take.
interesting class if youre into that sort of thing. attendance policy sucks, test are tricky, memorize those artist names.
Luddeke just takes Art Appreciation way too seriously. It's an elective and it's like she is trying to make people fail. If you do not show up to class for the second unit you will fail her test! Look for someone else!
Get out while you can. Her tests are stupid, you will hate going to to class and she treats you like you're 3. She's a bad teacher! She's too tough for an elective.
Don't take her if you can help it. The class isn't all that bad but she is really boring and shes always yelling at someone for talking. Gotta remember the artists name and painting! This easy elective was turned majorly hard!
Good teacher. I find her to be interesting. A great elective to take if you want to actually learn something about art. However, the class would be much better if she didn't have to keep repeating things and telling people to be quiet.
Not exactly the easy A fine art i was looking for, but i did fine. going to class helps but isn't all that necessary. the test are multiple choice, part is to be able to identify the artist by seeing the slide. test 2 requires some drawing.
Hard class to be just an appreciation class. Had to draw lots of pictures, some difficult some not. Had to memorize lots and lots of artist's names and paintings.
Run. Far. Away.
good teacher, willing to work with students, just don't talk in class too much
They don't come any cooler than SUE!
not the best art teacher. she is one of those who assigns projects that never get graded. her tests were not too bad except for when you had to draw stuff she did not give any lead way. she says you only need elementary art skills, this is not really ture!
She's like a cool hippie chick!!! This class is sooo easy. Most of the time you just color pictures. No art skills needed, just come to class and you'll get an A. She obviously really cares about students, b/c I sure wouldn't spend tons of time explaining easy stuff to students who don't care
Shes really really weird. Her tests are really hard because you have to memorize tons of paintings and artists.. She does give some extra credit though
She is wacky- For the election season I thought I was in a politics class but if you like art you'll enjoy the class. Read the book before tests and take advantage of extra credit
she is very harsh when it comes to asking questions, and the tests are difficult but only if you never go to class. there are 3 tests and numerous amounts of extra credit. hope you are good at memorizing 20-30 artists :) beware
She seems to think that everyone should love art, and instead of making it an "appreciation" class, it's more like a memorize a thousand things class. I didn't go much and got a B, but I studied for about 2 hours prior to each test. Shes not awful, but I wouldn't recommend her. She's grumpy a lot.
Not a horrible class, but not easy either. No art appreciation class is easy, but she makes it better. I failed the first test, but ended up with a B in the class b/c I actually studied for the last 2 tests. She's very into art, which is good!
She makes it easy. As long as you study some before the test. This class is not hard at all. For those of you who thought it was you obviously put no effort into the class.
Wonderful lady!
She was an complete jackass during my class. Really rude and hard to talk w/. She seemed to always be in a hurry. She belives everyone should LOVE art, by the end of the class you will hate art.

I was less than half a point from an A at the end, after having near perfect attendance, and she would not give me the points, so I got a B! She's rude and annoying during class, and will yell if someone doesn't answer her questions that second. I really hated every second of that class.
She's crazy. She's always grumpy, but she has her moments. She likes to put people on the spot quickly, and you have to memorize a retarded amout of names and pic's. Attendence is CRUCIAL esp.for test #2. she does offer extra credit. i hate art..hate it even more now.
She's insane. She has really bad A.D.D. and she knows it. I failed test 1 and 3 but test 2 was easiest. Lots of memorization required. I passed with a C and she gives a great opportunity for extra credit. I forgot about it, but i've done it, I would have gotten a high B, easily. CRAZY WOMAN!

Yeah she really is crazy. Her class is easy though, and she gives a lot of extra credit. Very easy.
A very Artsy lady. I disagree with some comments. She is very helpful if she knows your are tryng. She gives plenty of extra credit opportunities and her class is very interesting
Class wasn't hard, but the teacher is very annoying. Gets frustrated when someone can't get an answer right and sometimes is very unclear.

im not a big fan of art...class isnt BAD...onlu 4 tests...attendance is taken...if u dont feel like payin attention just bring ur ipod most of the class is in the dark looking at slides...i'll finish up with a B this semster...so pretty much this teacher could go either way to be honest...very possible to get an A in the class
She is a great teacher. If you come to class you will do good.
this lady is crazy...that's really it; tests are easy if you study and come to class; just don't forget your colored pencils or she gets pissed
I appreciated art before taking this class, but Ms. Luddeke made me want to change my tune. The course itself is not very diffcult as long as you read the book. Attendence isn't mandatory, but it certainly helps. The instructor isn't approachable; you're better off asking a classmate for clarification.
I struggled to get a C in this class. I do not recommend taking her. You may think this will be an easy course but it's not. No Art Appreciation class should be this hard. Make sure you read the book or you will definitely fail. Even reading the book you're lucky to get a B or C. Lots of memorization required.
Horrible teacher, Not clear on what she tests on, she's an art fanatic so if art isn't something that you are REALLY into it makes the class harder. She thinks that alot of the time she is helping, but in accuality she is making things harder
She's pretty much the typical eccentric art teacher. She tests on what she talks about in class. I didn't even have to read the book and I made a B.
She is terrible. You never know what's going to be on her test and she is not interested in you if you're major is something other than art.
Terrible.Just awful.Doesn't understand how to teach a class, just wants to talk about her feelings day.If you weren't really into art,she didn't give a crap about what you had to say.
You better have an interest in some type of Art before entering this class. She is an artist herself so she is very deep about what she presents to the class. 4 tests and 10 online text book quizes. It's an alright class... if you go to it.
Attendence is manditory, she wont help you if you dont goto class, you can have a friend sign you off so there is a way to beat the system. Easy A if you goto class and pay attention or can memorize the artists of about 30 paintings.
You take internet quizez that are open book. Her tests come from exactly what she says in class. She has a good sense of humor and though a little wacky she is a good teacher and will help you if you need it.
She is the worst teacher to have for this course. She's very wacky and random. She takes attendance, which I personally think is pointless because everything comes from the book. On the other hand, this is a great class to take a great nap in.
Teacher is rude when ou try and talk to her online or in class. Feels that her subject is superior to all others. Knows about art but fails to answer questions about some art. Knows nothing of modern art, or artists...Stuck in the past...take design if you want to draw and learn art properties instead of history

she's great
She's an easy teacher! So far most of the ratings seem to complain about her but she is really easy. I made an A in her class. As long as you do the quizzes and read the material you should do fine on the test. She offered 45 points extra credit throughout the year, so it's obvious she is trying to help everyone! Excellent professor-take her!
won't respond to e-mails and seems to hate teaching period. textbook reading is mandatory and the chapters are about 30-40 pages long.
very easy if you read the book, you have to memorize all the paintings title and artist for the tests but its not as hard as it sounds. She doesnt take attendance but does give some questions on the test that you would only know if you come to class. I got an A.
she seems like she doesnt know what she is talking about. Questions on tests come from book about artists and paintings which i have no clue why we need to know. And all u do in class is watch youtubes (sounds fun but gets veryyy BORING after awhile). I would recommend not taking this class
she is so weird sometimes. but easy. online quizzes-read the chapter b4. tests are easy. u have to memorize the author of paintings for all the tests except one. that one u have to draw like 10 things but she gives u a study guide b4. no attendence. but advise u go. i recommend her.
Took online over the summer. 20% Discussion Boards, 55% Quizzes, 25% Art Project/Paper. Keeps you well informed and sends out lots of emails. There is an online website that has most of the quiz questions identical to hers. Discussion Boards can be tricky because she wants you to post & reply multiple times and have an actual "conversation."
This woman is weird and random. Too many slideshow and mainly test are memorization. But the class overall is east I guess. There's online quizzes at bb, so keep up with that.
She knows what she's talking about and makes class interesting. She uses a lot of videos from online she tells you exactly what you need to know for exams if you go to class. The textbook is used for online quiz's which aren't too hard if you do the reading. She offers lots of extra credit & lets class out early almost every day.
Definitely and easy A, but frustrating due to her unorganized tendencies. Took her until the third test to realize the book she made tests from was different than the text required for the class. Class was semi-interesting but would have been much more enjoyable with a more organized teacher. No denying she LOVES art but has no business teaching.
Great teacher. The textbook is interesting, and she assigns the chapters at a reasonable pace. Only had one project for the online class, and it was an interesting one. Highly recommended.
You can tell that she loves art. She gives quizzes off of the chapters in the book, if you read them you cant fail. They are Open Book. Also her tests are just questions off her quizzes. There is a project and some discussion board work but it was fun. I dreaded the class but ended up really enjoying it. It was fun, also she shows cool youtube vids
Do exactly what she says she wants in the syllabus and you'll get an easy A. You do need to read the book for the quizzes but easy class.
Must Read The Book! Hope you have a good memory
All the tests and quizzes are online and are fairly easy if you do the reading. The classes are very boring and she can be a bit condescending, you really don't need to go to every class. Easy A, but boring.
If you don't mind getting a B or C you don't need to go to class. If you want to get an A on the test you should usually go to class, but sometimes that doesn't even help. Many of the test questions are terrible and vague. Also if you email her she won't help you so don't even try.
Easy class, just a lot of reading. You dont have to really come to class to pass, but she shows videos and does small activities that she'll question you on on the tests. Quizzes are easy, just highlight important stuff in the text before taking them. Lectures are boring. She will email you 100 reminders to take your quizzes and tests on time.
The class consists of her scrolling through hundreds of paintings telling you what she likes about each of them. So, at first it seems like you don't have to go to class to pass the tests but towards the tests start consisting of activities that we go over in class. Her questions are always confusing, random and hard to find in the book.
Professor Luddeke isn't a bad person. She's nice for the most part; however, she does not make the course interesting. She scrolls through paintings and tells you what she likes about them and that's mainly it. Every once in a while we'll have an assignment and it will most likely be on the test some where
She isn't a bad teacher but she doesn't make it interesting. She will go through hundreds of pictures and say what she does and doesn't like. I never went to class and passed with a B+ which is fine by me. All quizzes are online and on quizlet so use that for easy grades.
All tests and quizzes are done on your own time. My best advice is to get a group together and take them. In all honesty this class is easy and I would recommend. No reason to make anything below an A.
Art 1910 with Ludekke was one of the easiest classes I have ever taken. I showed up to class maybe once every week or two and got an A. She lets class out in 30 minutes most of the time, and the quizzes are a joke. All the answers to the tests and quizzes are on quizlet, and she rarely includes in class questions. Take the class, and go to class.
Everything is online, but if you don't go to class you will not do very good on 16 questions on the test.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS, I repeat, DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. I signed up for this class thinking it was going to be easy. Was it? NO. Everything is through the online textbook EXCEPT her online exams where she asks questions about topics mentioned during class and video assignments. Got a 31% on all of them, went to every class. Very confusing.
Very easy class. All online quizzes are pulled from online question banks like quizlet, so reading the textbook is not required. There are a few tests based off of in-class topics, so attending at least 50% of classes will give you enough to draw from. Questions are all obvious if you attend, some you can look up without attending. Easy final exam.
The class really isn't that difficult, all tests/quizzes are online and everything can be found on quizlet. The only difficult part of the class is that half of her tests are taken from "in class activities", so if you don't go you probably won't do well on that section. Other than that, the class isn't bad.
Taking Dr. Luddeke's class wasn't difficult, however, it was very aggravating. She kind of assumes all of her students are Art majors, however, we're all just taking the class for an "easy" A. Her lectures are very boring and all her test/quizzes are online, the part 2 of each test is very hard if you don't go to class. Her emails are aggravating!
Quiz answers are online as well as one of the tests. There are two tests each few sections, one being all the quiz questions and the other being pointless questions on videos like "what race is the chick who said _ in a video" which are annoying. Nearly impossible not to get a B+ or A. taking tests in groups are helpful. Only went twice and had A-
Easy and boring. I loved taking art classes throughout my grade school education and even did art on the side and hated this class. I did not hate this class because of the material, but because I really really did not like Luddeke at all. I missed one lecture and really regret not skipping more. Tests and quizzes are very easy though, easy A.
This class isn't hard, but it's pretty boring. Luddekke's tests have 2 parts: one where you're asked the exact same questions you were asked on the quizzes (which are all in the online book). The 2nd part of the test is harder. It's on very specific questions asked about videos in class, but she does give you links for the videos. Easy A.
Her quizzes and part 1 of all her tests are online but for part 2 she asks questions about what she talked about in class so if you don't go you won't pass part 2. I don't recommend cause even if you go to class and pay attention the questions are so random. Take someone else if you can!!!!!
She isn't very good at explaining things that you have to do and then gets frustrated when students email her asking questions. She will send at least 3 emails a day saying the same thing. Towards the end of the semester she won't answer emails about grades which is not very professional seeing that she could have made a mistake.
This class is pretty easy. All the chapter quizzes are on quizlet. The first part of the test will be questions pulled from the quizzes and the second part is a video test. I would say thats the the only hard part about this class. I wish I would've skipped class more. It's boring.
didn't go to class once and got an A. Every single assignment is online and straight out of the book (and quizlet) tests are two part- stuff out of textbook and 2nd part is all stuff you would only know by going to class. if you go to class you'll get an A+, but i never went once and winged it and still came out with an A. Very easy class
easy A, just took it for fine arts requirement. i would take it, attendance isnt mandatory and she posts all the activities online. all the tests & quizzes are online and all on quizlet. super easy.
Super easy and funny classes! Online some online assignments so showing up is not necessary. Does test in videos she shows in class, but you can watch them since she gives you the links. Easy fine arts credit
TAKE THIS CLASS. Such an easy class! Hybrid class so 4 tests are online and easy. Discussion boards are really easy and are every other week. Quizzes are online too. If you need a fine arts or elective really great option!
This class is super easy and if you need a fair art take it. The professor isn't good at all but everything is done online so you can just never go to class. Ironically this class made me hate art with a passion but it's all good
Not that good of a teacher, but it is such an easy class. Everything is online so you basically don't have to go to class. Quizzes and tests are on quizlet, except for the video assignment test, if you have to go to class to take those. Other than that it's very easy A.
She is annoying, but I would take this class again. She says that you should show up to class, but I do not recommend going. There are 2 parts of the exams- one is all on quizlet and the other is videos that are watched in class, but she gives you the link to all videos. Find friends in the 1st few weeks of class so yall can take the tests together
This class is SOOO boring but it is an easy A. The tests have 2 parts, part one is all on quizlet but part 2 is from the videos watched in class. I recommend watching the videos on your own time and not going to class. The second part of the test will be difficult if you do not watch the videos. Discussion boards and chapter quizzes are all easy.
Expect AT LEAST 5 emails a week the entire semester, 3 of them will say the same thing. The grades are weighted abnormally so the final exam doesn't really count toward your grade but if you miss a discussion grade your grade will suffer more than it should for a discussion board. Mostly online content but there are questions based on speakers
If you arent into art this class isnt bad. Had many artist come and speak. Go to class or you wont pass video quizzes. Video quizzes are NOT easy if you dont go to class. Passed with an A!
I am a senior at ECU I have a 3.8 GPA and throughout my college career I've never had an instructor this bad. She does not teach! If you do not come to class you will not get a good grade on your exam. I've been to every single class. I have no personal grudge but she is the most unreliable teacher I've had. She makes errors yet she's unaccountable
This is by far the worst professor I have ever had. For the love of God if you can, take this class with another prof. She does not teach at all and she will not reopen assignments at all. I accidentally missed 2 assignment and now my final grade will be a C. DO NOT TKE THIS CLASS WITH HER!!!
I only went to class because content from lecture actually ends up on the test. She can be confusing at times. The quizzes are easy and discussion boards as well. It is good to have a friend in class in case you miss class so you can be prepared for the test. The videos are also pretty interesting.
Do not take this class if you get bored just watching the most boring videos about art history. She does not teach. You just watch videos the whole semester and you have to pay attention to each and everything in the video because you have 4 video tests. A lot of people do not like her in my class and even the people that show up don't do well.
terrible professor! Does not teach and weighs her assignments in a weird way. She does not care about her students or how well they do in her course. Very boring class and unless you memorize every detail of the videos you will fail the quizzes.
Lackadaisical. I was looking forward to learning more about art, I learned nothing! Her syllabus was full of negative connotations and appeared to be the only thing she relied on for answers to questions students presented to her. Grading methods were inscrutable and video tests were daft, to say the least.
really not hard just make sure you watch the videos and pay attention to previous questions.
for most of class, we also found ourselves drawing circles and using our crayons to draw squares. For the students who could actually stay awake, she would yell at the class for the most stupid and random things. Overall, I was not a fan, 10/10 would NOT recommend.
Spare yourself. This was one of my worst experiences at this ECU. I had her in person and it was baffling to watch her try and teach. Her tests and quizzes were filled with ridiculous questions. No I did not put a lot of effort into the class, but even the brightest students thought it was bonkers. Not only did we stare at youtube videos
this class sucks..
She doesn't accept any late work even if you are sick and have a reasonable excuse. Is super rude and doesn't like it when you email and have questions. When you ask questions she won't answer them she will just tell you to re-read the material. Not helpful at all and extremely rude.
She is very clear at the beginning of the semester about how her grading works, people who complain didn't listen. The tests are on a collection of videos she has you watch each unit, but most of your grade comes from the online modules on Connect that you do on your own. This class is so easy, just take notes on the videos and you will get 100s.
Took this class online and it was a pretty easy class. Had a few easy art projects that you had to do with a short discussion board post. Used connect as the textbook and there were quizzes along with it. The connect was the worst thing but overall the class was easy and the professor is nice
Assigns an unholy amount of work per week, more than all the rest of my classes combined. She gives alot of time to do it but the fact that everything is due on the same day bugs me. two weeks to do these quizzes is fine but eight quizzes due on the same day? Tests are based on a series of at least 20 videos but the questions are on vague details
She could be worse, but I wouldn't ever choose her again as a professor. It's just a heavy workload for a 1000 level class. If you're not interested in art, don't take it. I will say it was relatively easy just tedious.
The grading in this class is terrible. The tests are 40% of the grade... If you don't watch the videos you'll never pass. If you want a good grade, watch the videos and take notes on them. Make sure they are extremely detailed. All of the quizzes are due on one day but you have at least 2 weeks to do them. DON'T WAIT!
Honestly a lot of people complained about her, but I swear she isn't that bad. You have to do 3 chapters with 2 quizzes each chapter, but she gives you 3 weeks to do it. There's an exam after every 3 chapters that is kind of annoying but it's doable. She also sends like 10 emails a day which is annoying. If you don't get A, it's your own fault.
If you do the work, you get an A. But I would never in a million years recommend her. For the fourth test, we had to watch 48 youtube videos to be tested on for the test. It's just a pain. If you can avoid taking her class, I highly recommend avoiding it. It's just tedious and busywork, not necessarily difficult.
The tests are terrible. She finds random art videos online and then writes unusually specific questions about them. I take notes on all the videos and that is very helpful but they have to be extremely detailed. I can't recommend this class, there is too much work for an art appreciation class. Too much effort for not enough of a reward.
This lady emails you like crazy. I wish I had a mute button for all her emails that are repetitive. She blows up my phone more than my own mother! & that is a LOT. Easy quizzes, theyre all on quizlet. The tests however are based on like 20, 2-10 minute videos you have to watch in order to get a good grade. I recommend using the transcript option.
I was scared to take this professor due to the reviews but she really wasn't bad. Only had three units which you can do in a day if you really want to. There are a few discussions which take a bit more time but they aren't very hard either. She does send lots of announcements, but that helps making each assignment as clear as possible. Easy A.
The quizzes are realtively easy, but when you email her about a question from the material she just says READ INSTRUCTIONS and than will send it out to the rest of the class evidently showing her instructions are not clear. The videos she makes you watch for the test are very stupid and dont correlate to the material.
she will absolutely violate your email inboxes. she will spam you endlessly. and the tests are not based on things you learn during class, instead they are hyper-specific questions specific to these random YouTube videos she gives you. watch the videos if you have to take her, but i would recommend just taking this class from a normal professor.
I have never had a professor send out so many emails and announcements, she will spam you constantly about due dates and procrastination. All her instructions are very wordy and just don't make sense half the time. Projects are pretty easy but her quizzes/exam questions are so obscure. Watch every video and have a good memory, or you'll fail.
DO NOT take this professor. She spams and sends out so many announcments, and is not understanding at all. You need a university excused absece for every assignment you miss, and won't even work with you if you dont have one.
I took her online and she's ok. Her projects aren't fun at all and quite frankly boring. Nothing about this class was interesting in the slightest and she honestly didn't try to make it seem fun anyway. She's not an understanding person at all and whatever happens to you (in regard to late work and technology problems) you are on your own.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!! She is incredibly difficult; she will not work with you NO MATTER WHAT! She won't let you make up tests if you miss one. She assigns 30+ vids to watch and you have to watch them for the tests - can't look up any test answers bc they won't come up. Very crappy person in general.. I hated her class because of her.
She will email you 100 times a day. All of her instructions for assignments make absolutley no sense. 2 projects and quizzes and test throughout the semester with about 2-3 weeks to complete which is a plus. You actually have to watch the videos and write word for word what they are saying in order to pass the quizzes.
I took this course online, I liked it! She sends a lot of emails out but she provides pretty clear instructions. There are 4 tests, you do have to watch videos in order to answer the questions, but if you pay attention you will be fine. There are other small assignments, some discussion boards/projects that require an essay. I recommend taking!
worst professor ive ever had. did not answer emails and was extremely rude when providing feedback. I literally failed this class which should have been the easiest course ever simply because she did not care whatsoever about helping her students. I grade replaced with holly garriott and passed with an A+. dont take susan take holly
sends too many announcements saying the same thing, tests are based on videos of things that are not learned in class and take hours to watch, accuses students of using AI to write when work is not written using AI, rude, and overall gives wayyyyyy too much work for a required general education art appreciation class
Don't do it to yourself. You "watch" unnecessary videos and take timed quizzes/tests on them. Will FLOOD your email with unneeded information. Find another teacher. Completely unnecessary for her to run the class to way she does. She has minimal grading to do, but she gets her TA to do it instead.
2 art projects count for 26%, are fun and easy to complete, just follow directions. Video tests are easy, just start the test and go watch the videos based on the questions, the answer is usually in the first minute of the video. Do the Smartbook work and don't forget to take quizzes on time, she does allow for late submissions for minimal points
The class has lots of videos to watch, but using study tools like unstuck study can help you prep efficiently. Emails are frequent, but stay on top of assignments and you'll likely get an easy A. Overall, a manageable course if you're willing to put in the work.
Yes there is a lot of work, yes she sends out so many emails but the work is easy and everything is open note. Take notes and have your textbook open when you take quizzes and tests and you'll be fine. Easy A, I ended with a 99, so A+
the worst professor i have ever experienced. she told me i would be able to make up assignments i missed with no late penalty with having a university excused absence, and once i gave her my UEA she didn't let me make anything up which dropped my grade a TON. she was so rude about it too like sorry miss girl i was busy at a FUNERAL.
SUCH an easy class if you pay attention to class and read the rubric for assignments. She takes late work up to a certain point. People in class only failed for using AI, not reading the assignment directions thoroughly, or just not doing the assignments. Never reached out to her, but seems nice based on the two classes I attended.
