Great professor. Syllabus intimidating at first, but she's laid back. Basic assignments. Read the chapters and you'll be fine.

Professor Maurer is probably one of the best history teachers I've had in a long time. She makes everything interesting and worth your while by making relations between today and the past. If you want a history class you'll get something out of, take her class. But read the text, there are surprise (fairly easy, if you did the reading) quizzes.

She is very nice and understanding. Her syllabus does seem like a lot at first but it really is not. You will have to do a presentation, its not bad as long as you get up there and talk you will do fine! As for the final she tells you exactly what will be on it before. Definitly take this professor!

She is the best history teacher you could find. You just need to do your reading and get into the class discussions. Overall she is really nice and sweet and always has a smile. Plus she never yells. Gluck!

Great professor. She is very relaxed and down to earth. Not to mention, she has some funky outfits...The class is very straight forward and easy, and it is imperative that you do the reading. There is a presentation but she lets you choose whatever you want and they're fun and take up class time. Do your work + show up to class= A

Great teacher, you are going to have to work both in and out of class and stay committed all year long but its college, so you arent going to get away with much anyway. She really does know an incredible amount of information as she shows it every week during her lessons . I would recommend her for sure if you want to learn a good variety of info.

Amazing professor probably the best I've had at NCC. She is so nice, friendly and respectable. Her style of teaching is very great and helps open your eyes to the world first hand. If you put a little extra elbow grease into anything in the class she will notice it and reward you greatly on your final grade for it. Overall amazing!

Prof. Maurer is a REMARKABLE teacher. She makes HISTORY so simple and interesting. Just listen to her and take notes. History will come to you like a fairy tale. She knows a lot about HISTORY and traveled all over the WORLD. She deserves A++++++++++++++++

She is a very nice and soft spoken woman. Gives you plenty of opportunities for a good grade. The only big test you take is the final. I also found her lectures very interesting.

She made history fun, she always smiled when she talked about the topic, so it was obvious she loves what she does.prior to her class i had no interest in history , now i love history...most of all she does not give mid term (she doesn't believe in it....i really enjoy her class

BEST PROF EVER! She doesnt want u to memorize the stuff, she wants us to understand! she goes over+over it. She adds on extra credit onto grades, multiple quizes + final exam is only worth 20 pts. I'm taking her other class this semester bc shes just great! She loves what she's doing. im glad i took this course and met a wonderful lady like her.

OMG! Prof. Maurer is wonderful!! She loves her job,she love history and she loves the students everything about her is AWESSOME. She gives pop quizzes so you have to read the textbook,but she goes over the chapter so well u might not even need read it. SHE IS VERY FAIR. I love this lady soo muchh! lol

She is a phenomenal professor and she loves her job. She makes you want to come to class and learn! Just pay attention in class, take notes, do well on your project, and study a little for the tests and you will get an A. This was one of my favorite professors since i've been at NCC.

i took her online and she made it really clear what she wanted out of you in the beginning as long as you read and know how to summarize and/or answer questions and give feed back then you are good to go came out with an A

AMAZING TEACHER! If you are interested in the class, you will learn a lot and enjoy your time. If there is a difficulty, she will talk with the students. In my class, with the workload, it was difficult to have a final, instead she gave us multiple source studies, which was so painless! It's a very easy and fun course!

Great Professor! I took her winter class and getting up at 9am to sit in history class for 4 hours did not seem appealing to me but she made class interesting with her stories. She's very fair in grading! She loves Latin too!

At first she seemed a little strange, but she is nice. Your grade is made up of primary source assignments, like 4 quizzes, and 1 oral presentation on a topic of your choice. It's important to have the textbook every day. You have to buy the textbook through the school store because it's a NCC edition. Overall an easy A.

Dr. Maurer is a great professor. Class was 5 pop quizzes,an oral presentation, and a few in class critical thinking questions. Reading is mandatory and she does not baby you, but totally worth the effort. Class was focused on the foundations of Islam, Christianity and Judaism and there interactions in history. Put alot into perspective. Take her.

One of the best professors Ive ever had. Class included some writing/quizzes and an oral presentation. Prof. Maurer knows a lot about the subjects and is very passionate about the subject. If you have the opportunity, take her.

This professor is awesome and i would recommend her to everyone! she teaches an interesting class and the work load is light. History 101 had no tests, just quizes, a presentation and some "course studies" which were basically simple class work. Overall a really really really sweet women

Very fought teacher in my opinion but she is also great and teaching what she does. In the beginning I did terrible on everything she handed out but in reality she is teaching you the right way to do things. After I learned her method I passes every single thing she handed out with a 9/10 or a 10/10, Great Professor.

Loved this professor. She lectures like shes telling you a story. Reading textbook is a must but all in all a fair professor. Take her.

EASIEST CLASS ! Just answer simple discussion questions every week with a response to your classmates and that it alll ! please take it you wont regret it

overall pretty easy class. the grading format makes it easy to pass. the quiz are 10 points and pretty straight forward from the text book which you will deff need if you want a good grade. the presentation is an easy 20 points. an easy class to take if you just want to get history over with

Prof Maurer was an unexpected surprise. I was put into her honors western civ class last minute and did not know what to expect. She was very nice and helpful and an extremely easy grader. We had about 5 textbook quizzes, 10 primary source studies (3 easy questions long), and a 10 minute final presentation. There is no midterm or final. Take her!

She's a pretty good professor. There are tests, but she's 95% about the content of the lessons. The content was pretty boring, but she doesn't bore you. The midterm and final were a joke; finished in 15 minutes and got an A.

Had to take the class for credit. Not very interested in history, however the content was moderately interesting. Assigned one discussion post per week, make sure to do it on time. Final paper very simple. Put in the effort and expect to be rewarded. What a nice lady who is passionate about what she does.

Loveddd Prof Maurer very nice woman, very interesting class I LEARNED so much valuable information and the class was EASY on top of it ... She breaks history down so well that what was once a boring subject turned into a class I loved going to I couldn't wait for Monday & Friday bittersweet feeling its over. TAKE HER ! Although this was an online class, she was very kind and the discussions were straight forward. She is quick to answer if you have any questions. As long as you do the weekly discussions on time and with effort, you should have no problem getting an A. I would definitely take a class by her again.

Yes yes yes. Sweet professor ! Interesting religion class. I love the sense of no pressure on exams. Easy 2 quizzes and a paper due every week. Completely knows what she is talking about and she's very open minded to every single religion. Attendance is a must. b+

Dr. Maurer is a great and inspirational professor. Extremely fair on grading. As long as you take notes during her lectures, you should get an A. 1 oral presentation though.

Prof. Maurer is great. I took 101 and 161 with her, both were really easy. If you're not good with reading comprehension she may be difficult for you but primary sources are generally easy, the answers are all in the reading. 161 OL is responding to 1-2 questions and then another student, plus a final summary based on previous reading. Super easy.

I took her online his 101 class. Basically reading a chapter a week, and responding to a discussion post and replying to another's students. Then there is a paper at the end. I would have liked more interaction with her. She didn't interact with the discussions at all. Al she did was write a usually two - three word comment during grading

Easy class but very hands off. I've taken online classes where each lecture is voice recorded by the teacher and they interact a lot. No interaction at all. But other than that very easy to do well.

Very easy! I didn't even break a sweat with this course. The entire semester was smooth. I wish all classes were this straight forward. I enjoyed the discussions and I love that she keeps everything up there until the end of the semester and I am allowed to keep track of my grades. Literally had an A all semester, but I did miss two posts.

This class was extremely straightforward and probably one of the easiest classes I've ever taken. Not time consuming at all and she grades the assignments very quickly. One thing she really emphasized was to make sure you submit all of your assignments on time. Great class, I learned a lot!

She gives very good lectures. I never had a hard time paying attention. The one downside is that there's a presentation and we can not use powerpoints. were not allowed to read off paper either. it has to be from memory

She doesn't give test, but do things by a point system. Have to score about 7's on her quizzes and primary source to receive an b or a. she doesn't write notes really on the board, most our said vocally but will repeat if truly important. She's really nice and she cares.

One of the best teachers i have had in my life, she cares about students and the subjects. I thought it would be boring class but she interacts and makes it interesting. She wants her students to be better people and take knowledge that would help them in life. Attendence is a must and no electronics. She is like a saint super nice lady

Professor Maurer is a wonderful person. At first when i took this class I thought I was going to fail but I came out with an A. Make sure you get the textbook and take good notes in class. Also, she does give extra credit at the end. Do very well on your oral presentation and primary sources and you'll be fine.

She scared us the first 2 classes. Almost dropped. So happy I didnt. Finally a history teacher who presented it in a cool story like manner. Shes a world traveler, loves to talk about it. Awesome conversations. Ask about Petey, you wont regret it.

Simply one of the best professors at ncc. The one cares about her students. 4 primary sources and 3 quizzes (10 points each). Make sure to record her or take down notes she doesnt really write much on the board. Do not have your phone out. It can potentially be an easy A if you put in a little bit of effort.

Grading is based off of four primary sources, three quizzes, a presentation and class participation. She also offers a 5 point extra credit. She is a sweetheart and a very good grader; she gives you what you deserve. I barely participated and I still got ten points. Just show up and do the readings and shell be happy. Shes very easy to please.

Professor Susan is the best history professor I have ever had. There are no major tests but 3 quiz, 4 Primary source studies & last final Presentation. Do Not Miss anything bc you only have 1 try to retake any of those. She will provide you the best knowledge. I honestly will not regret if I even fail her class bc the knowledge she gv is priceless.

This prof was accessible outside of class. There are no exams! The assignments were fairly easy. They were no make-up or extra credit assignments given so do your work and hand them in on time.

One of the best history professors at Nassau community college. She is extremely nice. Do your work and you will pass. All of the assignments are primary source studies. Show up to class and do the assignments correctly and you will pass

She was an incredible professor. Super nice and will always help when you when you need it. As long as you participate you will do well in her course. Manageable work load as long as you keep up you will have no issues at all.

she was great glad i was able to have her as a teacher some topics were hit or miss but definitely some interesting things grades are pretty straight forward nothing is hidden fair and to the point textbook was stated as necessary but only to add more foundation to whatever subject matter she was discussing and not too much homework very reasonable

A great professor and gives interesting topics to discuss about. Provides feedback to forum discussions and assignments fairly quickly. Can forgive a few late submissions if one provides a good reason. Course requires engaging with other students- critiquing/analyzing other students' responses to given topic.

Professor Maurer was Amazing; I enjoyed being in her class. The material was easily accessible; it requires an understanding of the material to be involved in discussions, and you will pass the course as long as you submit your assignment.

Her lectures are amazing and really thought-provoking. There are no exams in this class, and no homework or essays either. Only about seven writing assignments throughout the semester and a final mini-essay. If you're interested in a nuanced look at history, she's definitely the professor for you.

By far the most impactful educator I have ever had in my college career. She never fails to make everything super clear. Her classes and her choice of documents were NEVER boring. EVER. And i pity that you all won't get to witness her great teaching because she retires next month. But her stat on here should be a complete 5 stars, nothing less.

She is a great professor . Do all your discussions. No test or quizzes. Just discussions every monday to be completed by thursday and respond to another student by sunday. One page paper at end of semester . Great online class
