The actual class was very easy material wise, shes a smart lady, but not that great of a teacher, but since the class is so easy it does not matter much. She talks alot about her own business like students actually care about it. Overall if you are somewhat smart you should do fine.

Makes OM interesting. Always helpful and very clear. Applies situations from her own business to help us understand. She sometimes plays favorites, but it will work on your behalf. Just participate in class and come often. I think she is very attractive and def has great qualities about her.

Learned lots in this class, although test grades don't really reflect that. The MC were rough, no matter how well you knew the subject. Interesting class with real life examples from own business. Calls on people at random in class, though, and that gets nerve-wracking. Grp. project is a pain.

I thought I would have a much lower grade than I ended up with, considering my test grades. She must have really taken into consideration attendance, preparation, and participation. Very fair and cool that she did that! Interesting class, nice lady. Take this class.

Took winter course with no project. This is an easy class as long as you study the Powerpoints and listen to the lecture carefully with anything she emphasis as important for exams and quizzes. Skim through chapter before class, don't really need to go back and re-read except for doing the homework.

Best class I've taken at UD so far, actually learned useful material. Go to class, pay attention, and participate. Real life examples from her business help apply material to the real world. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.

One of the best professors i have had at the univeristy. Uses real life example that you can relate to in class, goto class and you will get an A, if she doesnt know your name chances are u wont do well b/c participation/attendence count. Oh yea shes got dominators.

MC Tests can be tricky. Keep up with homeworks and quizs are an easy grade boost. Lectures are usually interesting and she draws upon real situations. Her mood varies with the weather so be prepared. Good class though.

Well Susan Murphy. First I liked her, then I hated her, now I love her. Can be tricky on exams, but really cares about students and if you try hard enough you will do good. Take her if you want interesting lectures, but quite challenging exams or take the old guy in the summer.

great teacher, she really makes sure you understand the material...BUT tests are ridiculously hard, she tricks you on purpose and thinks that its funny. Plus, she makes you fill out a survey about how "fair" you thought the exam was, basically so she can throw it in your face when you get your exam back and you didn't do as well as you thought.

Really nice lady, likes to talk to students just to get to know them before class, or play funny youtube videos just start the day off on a good note. Material is tricky sometimes. I bet if you read the book and do the homework she gives you could easily get an A.

Pros: Solid prof. Knows material very well. Enthusiastic. Talks about her business b/c it is relevant to course material. Cons: Textbook is aweful! Tests too long, most students never have enough time to re-check work. Office hours a joke, it's like you are a burden to her. She reads these, hopefully she'll improve.

she busted a bunch of students for cheating/lying in class about exams. be careful if you take her. she looks at facebook to catch you if you make stuff up about being sick.

I respect her a lot. She's strict and not at the same time. Come to class, study the notes, read the textbook. I learned a lot in her class. Her talk of her business can get annoying, but its better to just immerse yourself in it than to be annoyed by it.

Sometimes Murphy hits that time of the month but for the most part she is a good teacher. You will learn a lot and her business applies 100% to the subject matter. GO TO CLASS because you learn a new subject every time and it's never worth attempting to learn it on your own. Tests are sometimes unnecessarily hard but manageable.

Expects a lot of her students. As long as you keep up with the material you will do fine. Tests are not too long if you know what you are doing. Helpful during office hours, extra credit chances, and even though she can be a hard*ss sometimes, she cares about her students.

Not sure why she catches such a bad rap. Excellent professor. Class is reasonable, show up. If you come to class quizes are a guaranteed B or A. Exams are reasonable just read the notes a few times. Book was useless never opened it and will get an A. If you have the math skills of a 8 year old your set all calculations are easy. Take her.

Great professor. She does an excellent job at relating the material to real world situations. The tests are all multiple choice, so I don't understand the comments about grading with a chip on her shoulder. If you are looking for a class where you will walk away with something you can apply to the business world, then you should take this class.

She makes this class interesting by applying real life examples to all of the theory's you learn. Exams make you think, but as long as your have some ability to apply what you learn to specific examples you will be fine. I learned a lot of useful information

I'm really surprised to see all of the negative remarks about Prof Murphy, she makes the class interesting because she is able to make the material relatable to real world examples. The exams aren't that hard if you actually do the homework and spend more than one night preparing for the exam.

One of the best profs I've had. Knows her stuff, explains clearly, and has experience to share. She talks FAST and does NOT tolerate nonsense, but if you follow her advice and do her hw (it's minimal, NOT busywork!)you'll do well. Some have said bad things here but Murphy has taken criticisms into account and made changes. GIVE HER A SHOT! TAKE HER

Good professor but the class is hard. The tests are difficult and she really picks out little details. However, she knows her stuff and challenges you to do well. Also told my class that an average of a 70 was good even though you need a C- to pass the class.

Despite what other comments say, she IS a good teacher. She makes the material interesting and gives real-life examples. She really knows what she's talking about. Downside is that her exams are very hard and you have to basically race to finish in time.

Murphy was a fair teacher who used good examples to teach concepts. They may have been associated with her company, but it's because she deals with it on a daily basis. If you take this course be prepared to study If you understand the material and put in 2-3 hours for each test you should end up with a solid B. Not hard if you have common sense.

Her exams weren't hard and you basically got 100%'s on all of your quizzes for an easy 30% on your final grade. Easy A and nice teacher.

Some of our class don't like her, but some of us really appreciate her because her teaching is so well-organized and clear. Only three exams and 8 take-home quiz, but her exams are very trick.

Susan is a bit of a stickler, but I believe it's because she cares about her students both doing well and learning. Tests are NOT easy and you aren't given much time for them, but she is very willing to help and even will skype/facetime students on days without office hours. Take if you are willing to put in the work and you'll get an A.

I won't understand how people don't like Murphy. If you go to class and pay attention you'll understand what's going on. If you read like she says to you'll understand even more. There's no surprises and she doesn't play favorites. I would 100% take a class with her again.

So here's the deal. Murphy is a tough grader, very condescending, and is hard to work with. I would not take her UNLESS her class is something you're majoring/interested in. While she is a hard professor, she teaches very well and has work experience in the real world of ops management which helps a lot.

okay to the people who dont go to class if you arent getting 5% of your grade for it.. youre going to think it is hard. literally if you just SHOW UP and actually listen you should get at least a B+. Took her for the winter session course, it definitely wasn't easy and you had to put the time in but she is fantastic. I felt like I actually learned something, and she really knows what she is talking about. As long as you show up, pay attention and stay on top of things you will do well.

Look past the quirks and Murphy is a great choice for ops. Lectures do feel long but you can get something out of the class altogether. Take-home quizzes help a lot for understanding.

I took Prof Murphy over winter session where we had class for 4 1/2 hours every Tuesday and Thursday. While this sounds very intimidating, this was by far one of the best classes I have taken at UD by one of the best professors. She keeps her students interested and involved the entire lecture and makes she the topics she covers are useful too.

Her lectures were so so interesting but you really have to pay attention to the math stuff more than anything. Before a test find all the math and worksheets that you had to do and practice practice practice. It's kind of disproportionate because lectures are like 20% math and 80% facts and theory.. but tests are 70% math/worksheets and 30% theory.

Professor Murphy tends to get frustrated with students easily and can be slightly intimidating but overall is a pretty chill teacher. She has lots of experience in business. Math heavy. Take home quizzes about once a week. Exams have a lot of math.

Professor Murphy was tough but it was clear that she knew a lot about business and OM. She made sure to go over everything we would need to know for the homework assignments and exams. She also was always available to answer questions. Her powerpoints covered everything we needed to know so you didn't really have to read the book.

Murphy was a professor that cared about her students. I enjoyed her class and she was average for a professor at UD. she is not as bad as everyone says as her exams are like the work sheets that you complete for homework. one final paper and two cases that you complete with a partner.

I really liked her as a teacher. She was able to teach you and it was straight forward. She is definitely tough. All semester we learned math on each chapter and we were tested on conceptual material which was annoying because we only went over the concepts for a short time.

She's tough, can be somewhat off-putting at times and everything everyone else said. But, she's a businesswoman. She knows her stuff because she has lived it. In this class, you are a soldier and she is the general. The general knows what they're doing, and they're respected, so when she says run into the fire you better do so without a question.

All the assignments are math, yet there is no math on the exams, only concepts. It's hard to get 100% on them because she is so anti-partial credit. I've also never seen a professor make an environment more stressful in the minutes leading up to exam. Gets annoyed very easily. But the class is relatively easy. She posts the lectures on canvas too

Professor Murphy worked with me to make sure I didn't fall too far behind and made it possible for me to keep pace and get a good grade in the class. She is someone who will hold her students accountable and that's a great way to help prepare us for the real business world.
