Great lecturer. Nice lady. Tests are easy if you go to class.
Very organized, tries to make class fun.
VERY easy, come to class and you'll get a lot of bonus marks
This class is intended for students in the Early Childhood Program. Lectures are based on case studies from the book. If youre planning to major in Psychology, don't take this class. Go for Devlopmental Psych instead.
Nice lady. Quizzes are very easy, but midterms are hard.
Worked my butt off for a B. Class = discussion group once a month and 3 lectures, with weekly quizes. Midterms = very very niche picky (average C+/C)! Easy quizes, fair class projects which balances grade out. Good teacher thou.
nice teacher~ but does not teach alot..... u will do well on the exams if u read the text book and attend lectures
i thought she was a pretty good teacher. she makes her lectures really interesting. Study for her midterms!! cause they're kinda difficult
simple lectures notes. she gives out bonus marks. must work hard for good mark b/c there are group work, weekly quizzes, and seminars. midterms are tough but easy quizzes even marks out. Got an A- just by completing everything.
Susan is great to talk too.
Susan is nice, her class is interesting, her midterms are a bit too hard, but if you study a lot and show up for all group projects you can get B
nice nice teacher!!
a VERY nice, and sometimes humorous, teacher. Her lectures are really good. Midterms are really touch but group projects and seminars are EASY.
she was a fantastic teacher. i'm taking her again in the spring semester. her midterms are hard, but it's not impossible to do well in her class-if u study really hard for the exams, u can do well. She's well organized, take her, she's a great teacher!
cute but not clear in her class. easy to talk to out of class.
I took early childhood psych with her.I liked her a lot, helpfull, well organized and clear. No suprises on the tests.
Tons of info r given in each lecture, + u have to attend all lectures to do well on the essay section of the exams. Her lectures r very interesting, but exams are extremly difficult. So, u must read each article at least once, + review lecture notes well.
A very good teacher, she managed to keep the three hour lecture each week interesting. Her tests are easy, as long as you attend lectures and study your notes, and have the option of either a term paper or a presentation.
i had her for bothpsyc 2324andpsyc 2318.1 of the bestchoicesucanmakeShe'sawesome!very enthuiasistic, and very knowledgeble. Her childhood classes are 3 hrs though soif u don't like learning about children.... BUt me, i love kids, and learning about them!!
she's a great teacher. her exams are quite hard but you can easily do well with studying. She makes the course interesting, take it!
shes an awesome teacher! anyone even remotly intersted in paysc should take this course.
Great teacher, helpful and is fair marker. Study and you'll pass. Mostly multiple choice and some group work.
This class rocks! I dont know how other teachers teach this class, but Susan makes the information clear by applying it to our everyday lives. The tests can be a challenge but not if u study before!!lol! Have fun!
Shes so passionate when she teaches, the class isn't as boring as it should be.
she has intersting active teaching skills.
Susan makes this course amazingly interesting and fun to go to. Of all 4 hour classes ive had, this one keeps me awake. Really like her teaching style and helpful examples. Multiple choice exams are easy if you study for them and group work is pretty much given if you show to to do it.
a very good prof who makes the course interesting. if you're consistent in your readings and reviews you're pretty much set for an A. highly recommended.
Is clear and to the point. Tries to make all of her classes interesting.
Niceeeee, and helpful.
Very good teacher. She's very clear when she is teaching. Class does not get boring. Her exams consist of multiple choice and short answer questions. Her short answer questions come ONLY from material taught in class (not in textbook). So make sure you take good notes in class (especially when she writes stuff on chalkboard)
she brings in several experiment stuffs to make class more interesting and easy to understand. m/c are from text and so u should read carefully(make sure u read little paragraphs with pictures on the sides) and write good notes too. i think she's fair marker. but not easy.
An awesome teacher. One should definitely take her,as her lectures are clear too.
BEST teacher I've had so far- she is definately doing what she was meant to do. Class is not easy, however, and you have to definately have to put the effort in.
VERY VERY helpful and fun instructor to have. Susan is very passionate about her work and classes. You will definately have the most fun from her "extra-ordinary abilities" lecture!!! Too bad she doesnt teach Psyc 1215. Take Her Class!!! =)
What I liked most about Susan is her well organized lectures. Her teaching style is funny and knowledge giving at the same time.
Susan was for the most part very lucid and nearly always made her lectures interesting. Quickly became familiar enough with the lectures to figure out what the short answer questions on her exams would be. Marked her own tests - moreover fairly and VERY PROMPTLY! I'm a fan.
Literally the BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. She is clear, and makes SURE you understand the information by use of examples. Classes are interactive and interesting. Susan has made psychology the favorite of all my courses.
i think shes a good teacher but shes a hard marker
as long as you go to class, you are most likely to get at least a B in the written part of the exam..fair enough!
She is a very good teacher. She explains really well and replies her emails very quickly. I recommend getting the study guide because it helps to review for exams, but don't get too fixated on the study guide though because it sometimes doesn't cover 1/2 topics in the text which usually ALWAYS show up on exams so.. READ THE TEXTBOOK!
BEST TEACHER FOR PSYC, REALLY HELPFUL, MAKES LECTURES INTERESTING TESTS ARE NOT CUMULATIVE AND ARE M/C BASED ON TEXT AND SHORT ANSWER BASED ON LECTURE. IN CLASS ASSIGNMENTS AND NO HOMEWORK. JUST READ THE TEXT AND TAKE GOOD NOTES, YOU'LL GET AN A+ LIKE ME
highly recommend..SUCH a good teacher, nothing else to say - for real
really funny too
Another excellent Psychology teacher. Her lectures are really interesting & she knows how to teach! She provides other current information about Children/ChildPsych & uses her own experience to add to the lecture. Her tests are mc(70-80/1.5hour)& if you study and(have good study skills) you'll do well.
She's a great teacher! She's so clear and explains things so well - I've never left class confused about anything at all. She's nice, understanding, helpful, and funny. Tests were all multiple choice and very easy as long as you read the text book thoroughly.
Her lectures are pretty good but her tests are hard. Study the text book and know EVERYTHING... even small details. Overall a good teacher.
One of the best instructors I've ever had. She has a lot of energy and makes class fun and interactive. She also has a strong voice and explains things clearly. But be prepared to read the textbook, as her exams are on that and doesn't give any handouts. Even still, if given the chance, I'd take another of her classes again.
Her class is fun! She makes every class memorable. Highly recommanded
Awesome class. Susan's a great speaker and really good at presenting the material. All MC and you just need to read the text thoroughly. In fact, I went to class to hear some of the hilarious stories she has about her kids and other cases. Each time she had fresh and new material and I never had a hard time staying focused. Take and class with her!
Very pleasant, cheerful lady and her classes r pretty interesting. midterms r all mcqs with 2 group projects which aren't tht hard. However, you have to study the textbook thoroughly if u want to ace midterms. All in all, there's nothing to complain abt her or the course.
easy and fun. everyone should be able to coast through the class.
Great teacher~ Her lecture is clear and orgnized. Always has smiles on her face~lovely teacher~
She's nice and tries to answer questions u ask her. All her notes are inclass, does not post up notes online. Good to listen to her lecture in class b/c she gives good examples and details to the chapters. Her midterms are hard, all mc, and you will need to study alot/read textbook to get high marks. Sometimes there are inclass, group proj.
Susan is amazing. Crystal clear, great lectures, helpful when you need it and all around funny and witty. It has been an absolute pleasure to be in her class. Tests are hard, but reasonable. She expects you to do well, and her projects are also within reason. Take this class if you like psych, she won't let you down!
Honestly, her class is NOT easy. You are required to pretty much know everything in the textbook.. her notes aren't posted online either Also FOUR group projects which totally brought my mark down- no thanks. She's a very sweet lady and tries to make class fun, but it's a lot of studying for a 1st yr psychclass. I got an A with hard work tho, ucan2
Even though i took her morning class, her lectures kept me interested and for the most part awake. i thought her assignments and group projects were easy, but 1 mark off here and there adds up -.- Tests were easy so long as you read the text and skim your notes !
Susan is an amazing person and a great teacher. Tests are easy as long as you attend all classes, take good notes and do all the readings. Btw this class is intended for ECE students. Although I'm a psych student I still truly enjoyed taking this class. So yeah, take this class if you can!
You need to do a lot of reading in this class and take really good notes of the lecture. The short answer is based on lecture notes. You can choose to do either 15mins of presentation / 6 pages font 10 essay. Midterm MC were tricky and very specific so be very familiar with the reading and notes. Her lecture was great and very interesting!!
Ms. Numerow's lectures are very clear, concise and often very interesting. Her tests were all multiple choice. I got an A and I don't feel as though I had to work or study as hard as my other classes. This could be put down to her concise teaching style. No essays, group projects in class, study tests avail to help you out. Take this course!
Although, there's a lot of reading I find she is one of the bests profs at Langara. Unlike other profs, she actually pushes students to the university's reading level. She also allows her students plenty of opportunities to get engaged in her interesting lectures. If you want to be more prepared for university, take her course!
I took Susan's intro psych class in my very first semester and have just finished another semester taking her childhood development class. Susan is a very straightforward, clear and passionate teacher. Her tests are always fair and her classes are never dull. I HIGHLY recommend taking her class! :)
She is funny! But psy is not suitable for Chinese guys to learn, it s horrible. But you can get many useful information and ideas.BTW, really lout of books to read. AND forget about your study guide.
Susan was hilarious. Class was only once a week so lectures were long but she ran her class well. 4 MCQ tests with 4 group projects that were easy if you paid attention and had a good group. Only thing that was not great was she said "you're responsible for everything in the chapter" so you had to study her notes and EVERYTHING in the chapter.
Susan was hilarious, good teacher. Only caveat is that she required you to know ALL of the textbook material which was difficult because she added a lot of material on top of that during lectures. MCQ format made it easy to do well if you spent the time on the text. Overall I would definitely recommend her.
Susan is a great prof! She's hilarious and interacts with you on a regular basis so you're not bored. Her tests are all multiple choice, and so long as you read the text you'll be fine. Very enjoyable class!
She's okay for the most part. All exams are multiple choice, non cumulative. She don't upload notes unlike other instructors, though. So you have to really listen and attend her classes. And there are no dull moments when she's teaching. But I just didn't like her as much as I like my previous instructor/s.
You have to memorize the textbook. Lectures are unrelated and simplistic compared to the terminology in the articles. Exams test ability to remember irrelevant details in the articles not your understanding of them. If my prof expects 2nd year quality from me than I expect the same from her. Articles are anecdotal or non-inferable.
very good
Susan is a great teacher. She made everything clear, lecture is quite important because she usually doesn't have powerpoint slide post online. Make sure you memorize what she said in class and the main points in the text. Exams were asked in details
I only had this course once a week for 3 hours, thus she only had lectures on the key topics in class. However, the tests were consisted of every details in the textbook so I had to read it a lot in order to get good grades. Yet, her lecture was very fun; she often did interesting demonstrations to clarify her explanations and they were helpful.
If you're looking for a psych perspective don't take this class. It's taught as a parenting course. You will be making a scrapbook for a fake baby, so if that doesn't sound awesome, don't bother. She's a really hard marker and it is difficult to get an A, even if you spend hours on the work. Interesting content. Text is American, which sucks.
Susan was an amazing prof! Highly recommend her for first years or anyone in general. Very sassy and fun lectures, very approachable and even encourages you to come and talk to her. Actually remembers your name. Such an amazing Prof!
having this class 3 hours once a week was horrible!!! Susan's office hours were always helpful. She is an extremely tough marker.. highest mark i got in her class was a 76 and I was expecting to be able to get a much higher grade. Tests were hard make sure you study not only her notes (weren't very helpful) and the txtbook in order to pass!!!!!!!!!
Susan is a really helpful teacher, her lectures are actually really interesting (yes even though it psychology!) she makes it interesting, because she speaks with so much enthuisasm and you can tell she enjoys what she does. She is there to help you during her office hours and is always available via email and is amazingly quick to reply!
Susan is one of the best profs at Langara. I took Psyc randomly, and due to Susan it quickly turned into my favorite class for the semester. Now, I recommend that everybody take Psyc with her - She is lovely, passionate and her lectures are engaging. 1010!
She is one of my favourite teachers! If you study and come to class you will do well. Cramming doesn't work, it's best to just understand what she's teaching. She is super nice and I found her class really intersting and looked forward to it every week :)
Expects lots of notes, powerpoints and readings. Group works too. I find her personality and presence fun, she's clear, her tests are hard and tricky, but as long as you take the time to study you'll get a B for sure.
Susan is one of my favourite profs in Langara!! She's really nice, funny, and makes lectures interesting! Within the semester, there are only 4 group projects and 4 non-accumulative, multiple choice exams so that's pretty good. In order to do well in this course, you must read a little bit everyday so you don't end up cramming to study for tests!
Susan is approachable. Her lectures are interesting. There are four group projects that are in-class so fairly easy. She only cover some parts of the textbook in class so you do have to reread the chapter by yourself to prepare for the test. The course itself covered a lot of biology than I prefer but still do able. Go see her during office hours!
Susan is a nice person. There was a few things that I did not like about her class. She does not cover all the materials for the test in class. You have to read the chapter entirely plus she brings things from her other class into the intro course. I feel she only covers 50% in class on the chapter notes. The other half you go over at home.
She's a really nice teacher. Her tests are pretty easy. They're always MC. As long as you read the textbook, you'll do well because tests are basically stuff from out of the textbook. The only thing I didn't like about the class was the group projects. Even though they were really easy, group projects always suck.
She's great. I haven't gotten grades this good since I started at Langara. Her way of teaching just clicked with my way of learning, and I guess that's just that
Really enjoyed Susan as a teacher, she's hilarious! Although most of her classes are lecture heavy. Beware, going to class is a requirement and group projects are common!
Susan is a funny and great prof! She has an evident passion for teaching psychology. Although her lectures are heavy, she goes in detail to make our understanding clear. Only thing I didn't like were the article readings. you have to thoroughly memorize it in detail as it will be tested on exams, but overall she's worth taking in the end. :)
One of the best in Langara. Just listen to her lectures very well. Read the chapters at least once. Her group quizzes are a little hard but you will be fine as long as you have a textbook with you.
Susan was a great prof. She's clearly passionate about psychology, and her lectures are fun. She's easy to approach. The course was straightforward. Read the book carefully, and make sure to attend lectures as she also quizzes you on things not mentioned in the book. Group projects were sometimes tricky but doable if you find a decent group.
Super easy exams, all MC! Her lectures are interesting but she doesn't post notes so you have to read the textbook. Gives no homework, assignments are done in class and in groups. I had her once a week and it honestly was the easiest class I've ever taken. Just show up and read the book and you'll be fine.
She's fair, do your share and you'll end up with the mark you deserve
I took her applied childhood class during the spring semester of this year. Her lectures were heavy and you need to take notes in great detail. Fair grader, 3 midterms, 1 research paper, and a final. I personally enjoyed her stories, but her exams were hard and you must study the articles for exams. She doesn't post lectures slides online either.
She's an amazing teacher and very passionate! She's very easy to approach and explains things amazingly. The only thing I hate was that you have to read and memorize A LOT. "As she always says, "you're responsible for everything i n the textbook except the critical thinking boxes."
Easy and enjoyable class! I'd love to take her class again!
Lectures are mandatory as she gives material not in the text. Her lectures are interesting. Group projects are in class. Tests are all MC. She's kind and approachable. You can make your own office hours. Material is easy obviously. Would recommend.
We had four tests worth about 20% of our grade and none of them are cumulative. Meaning the final is a chapter test (not really a final) and the same difficulty as all the other tests in the term. She gives the option for 3% bonus and you have 4 in-class assignments/projects that you do in a small group. Super manageable just read the textbook.
Not impressed with this teacher as she does not explain things clearly to you in person and constantly rewords the thing she said before. I would not take her class again.
She doesn't give you slides, so you have to be in class to get the notes, but she gives you lots of time to write the notes down. Overall she's just a really great prof.
Susan is a decent prof. There aren't any huge papers and there are 4 tests so theres plenty of opportunity to get a good grade. Easy A. However, I didnt really like here teaching style. Her lecture slides are confusing and theres no continuity with the course material. Also most of the test questions come directly from the articles she makes us rea
she's a great psych prof! all you have to do is READ THE DAMN TEXTBOOK!! and show up for class, cause she occasionally gives info, not in the text! also, study before group projects, it helps trust me! the projects are also annoying as hell, but if you're down to sit down and just read the textbook, it should be an easy A!
Susan is a very nice person. I had some problems with understanding and she was always ready to help. I found her tests hard I know in fact many people said there were easy. I study a lot for this class, maybe becauses English is not my first language. It was a bit harder for me. She is fair grater . Just read the book and study :))))))
Susan is a nice and friendly professor. All of her tests are non cumulative, even the final. All you have to do is read the textbook and you will surely get an A. There were 4 small, inclass group projects which required some thinking. She also gives extra information in class which would be on the exam so make sure u attend the class.
Susan is very caring and she genuinely wants her students to do well. She is accessible outside of class and very clear on what she is looking for when marking. Her lectures and demonstrations make the class interesting. One of the best profs.
A very easy class, and a great instructor. Just read the textbook, and you'll be set.
Needs to rethink her teaching style. Lecture slides are confusing, don't contain very much information. Group project feels like a high school science fair poster. Tests have numerous errors, ambiguous wordings and opinions within the questions. Not charismatic. Mandatory text updated annually w/ a collection of essays feels like a money grab.
Awesome instructor! Very caring, and will help you through any problems inside or outside class. Her tests were unexpectedly difficult. One piece of advice: attend class with good notes and Study. The. Text. Thoroughly. Cannot stress that enough
The group projects were personally my least favourite part of this class, but I had no issues with Dr. Numerow herself. She was always approachable and moer than willing to answer my questions during the optional Zoom Drop-In sessions before tests. Lots of material to read and listen to, but fun overall if you have an interest in psychology.
Psychology is generally an easy course so it's not hard to get great marks. The only reason why I would not take her again is because of the group projects; it was extremely stressful and dropped my average significantly. A caring and compassionate person! Email her about any concerns and she will respond immediately!
Just do the free marks she gives. Literally 15% was just doing 20 minutes of work per week. Exams fairly easy. Everything can be found in the textbook other than a few lecture based questions. Got 80+ on every one without studying. Group projects kinda suck cuz group members can mess you over.
This class was a joke. There was a new group project with a new group every 2 weeks or so. Within each group, there is such a range of abilities and efforts that you either end up doing the whole thing yourself or getting a bad mark. Furthermore, she doesn't let you see the tests after you get your mark on it.
very old school, She wont post anything you miss online. even if you are sick you will have to ask classmates for notes and if their notes are not great then that sucks for you. you will need to read everything in the textbook also even if she didnt assign that part to read. since this was a in person class she wont let you post your hw online.
notes are very vague so u better be listening. Also, u better read everything in the textbook cuz she doesn't teach u much that is in the textbook thats gonna be on the test. it kinda sucks since some of the stuff on the textbook is kinda hard to understand & 1 either she doesn't have them in the lecture or 2 or doesn't much explain in her lectures
She's super nice and cool but she has zero chill when it comes to her grading. I feel betrayed
Susan is a very wise professor. There consists of many group projects in the semester of 4 people of choice as have last hour to b done. Takes effort to know name if engaged. Interesting demonstrations about lectures at times. Must read all textbook questions as exam b from that and lecture notes (not in textbook) so attending class is a MUST
The course was not well formatted. You just need to depend on the book. NO understanding from class lectures.
Susan is a great professor. Very accessible outside of class. There were 4 in-class group projects so make responsible friends for them. Make sure to attend class because her lectures are not posted online. Although her assessments are not cumulative, you are welcome to go to her and look at your tests.
Susan is a good person but her course materials seem a little outdated relative to the field, her lectures don't make much sense as they're written in point form and it's out of context so DON'T SKIP. You need to attend her lectures, she's also unreasonably a tough marker. Overall I wouldn't take this class again but there's worse out there.
You definitely need to attend lectures to do well in this class. She is very clear about what you need to know and if you read the textbook you will do fine on the exams. I found the exams easy but most of the material is out of the textbook not her lectures. Find good people for the group projects and participate in subject pools for bonus marks.
She is the best professor I ever had. Knowledgable and caring person who loves her job. I would definitively take all of her courses.
Her lectures are fun and easy to understand but her exams were really hard. Her response to feedback leaves a lot to be desired, even when that feedback is about her rubric and marking. Prepare to learn lots but not feel very cared.
I wasn't a big fan of hers. Sometimes her marking didn't make sense. There are many small details that you need to make sure are included when you hand in your assignment. She is passionate about the subject, but it can make the lectures long. Tests were ok but make sure you put time and effort into studying
Could have done without the 4 group projects but even with those she made it pretty bearable. Tests were straightforward. Attendance isn't mandatory but definitely helps with exams as she does do some testing on lecture only content. Very engaging and lovely prof, wish I could take her again!
Good prof overall and she's responsive via email outside of class. Her tests are reasonable but can be a bit difficult because a lot of questions aren't based on the "meat" of the class/textbook content and focus on vague details, or topics that weren't covered as much. Unit assignment grading was a bit vague so there's a learning curve.
She is a horrible teacher. Accuses everyone of using Ai even if you are a good writer. Do not recommend her whatsoever. She also does not give clear answers and after first exam she only gives you 45 mins for 60 questions. ( doesn't tell you this until later on )
Definitely a tough grader. Made us purchase expensive textbook which is useless after the course. Not at all understanding. She has some extra videos which you need to watch as she purposely puts questions from them in exam. Outdated lecture videos. Many assignments which are completely meaningless as she doesn't ask anything like that in exams.
Professor Numerow is knowledgeable and engaging. Her lectures are worth attending, but the group projects can be hit or miss. unstuck ai was a great study aid alongside the textbook. Overall, a solid psychology course if you put in the effort.
Her tests consist of 60 mc which have to be completed within 45 mins. So, it doesn't really give you time to think. She also has unit video assignment/ quiz which has 8 mcq that has to be completed within 6 mins. Also, the tests are a bit tricky, but if you do the reading to prepare for the exam, watch the lectures and take notes, should be fine.
Highly recommended. She was the nicest teacher I had ever met. Since it was an online course, I could only reached out to her via email. She was always nice, caring and considerable for her students. During the winter, I suffered from a depression, I was down and always doubt about myself. After knowing that, she emailed me and gave suggestions.
Awesome prof.
