She was an excellent teacher. Made everything very clear and was willing to give of her time to help in any problem areas. I wish all of my professors were like her. Definately the best I have had yet. Made Chemistry a pleasant experience and I would have never thought that could be possible
Taught like a kindergarden teacher would teach. Makes sure that everything is perfectly clear and if it isn't then she will clarify more. I had problems staying awake in class because other students would ask ridiculous questions and make the class really boring.
She simplied everything so beginner Chemistry students could understand. Her notes were great and she would stress what you needed to know. She was great!
great instructor, very helpful and pleasant
very good and easy to understand
She is a great professor! I have a hard time with conceptulizing some of the material and she makes it all so clear. She is a must to have for this class.
She's a great teacher. She really wants the student to learn Chemistry. Plus, she's kinda attractive as well (especially for a chemistry teacher).
She lays it out in a great way to understand. She made me really enjoy Chemistry, for once I didn't mind the subject. She has a heart for teaching and it is really evident in her passion to see students excell. I recommend her to everyone, she is great.
She goes out of her way to make the class easy. She supplies the students with succinct and comprehensive notes. To be honest, you don't even need to purchase a book. You won't use it. Patrick makes a sincere effort to make sure that every student understands the material with as little frustration as possible. Take her if you can.
Thumbs up for Patrick.
Do'ent make chemistry class 2 hard. Makes it more easier for students to understand. Don't buy a textbook worth $125. Take notes, study it, you'll get an B or an A.
I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Patrick. She has to be one of the nicest professors, and she makes Chemistry fun and easy to understand. I would definitely recommend her to those students who may not have the best grasp of chemistry - she'll go out of her way to make sure you do understand it. Wonderful and highly recommended!
Bio chem requirement for nursing program, she make it so easy! i didn't even use the book, and got an A...you do need to go to class, if you take notes and study you will get an A. She gives you sample tests and practice handouts for each chapter...best teacher!
Dr. Patrick is great! This was my first Chemistry class, and I was scared to take it because I am horrible at math. Dr. Patrick put my fears to rest, and I ended up with an A. She gives great notes and explains everything so that you will understand it. She is also really great in lab - tells you step by step what to do. Definitely take her!!
Though I had to work for my "A', this professor is tops at explaining, listening, helping. She absolutely wants her students to succeed. It is apparent how much she enjoys teaching.
I found this class to be fairly easy. If you study her reviews and old exams, you'll do fine. Definitely go to class and take notes. I did NOT even crack my book open. I had to study a little bit more for lab, but you don't have any big tests in there, just quizzes. Made an A, that was alot easier to get than any other science class I've taken.
Dr. Patrick is great. No need to buy the book, just go to class every day and take down all the notes that she presents on power point. The test is directly from the notes. Also do the old exams online. The Lec can be dull but it is an easy way to earn that A. Make sure you take her for Lec & Lab. She makes difficult things very simple. A+ Teacher!
She told us at the beginning of the semester that we will use the book way more since it's new, and i have definitely opened it once or twice. She used mastering chemistry (like my math lab) but got frustrated with it, so i'm not sure if she'll use it again! powerpoint, online homework, tests. just take notes. very good teacher!
Best teacher I ever had at TCC. Powerpoint helpfull, and well organized. I never opened the new book. I wish all my classes were this easy.
Great teacher!! Lec tests come straight from powerpoints and reviews. no need to buy the book. Easy A
She was an amazing teacher. I hated Chemistry in high school, but she made it so interesting. I wish she taught all of my classes. She does her tests straight from the notes, and she even does a VERY thorough review prior to the exams. I may have opened my book once, and it was for the mastering chemistry online assignments. I highly recommend her.
Dr. Patrick is a wonderful instructor especially if chemistry is not your thing. She made hard concepts completely understandable. I took her online class. Her notes were very detailed and she even had audio to explain concepts in more depth. I HIGHLY recommend her!!
Excellent teacher!! Would recommend to anyone!! Her online class is GREAT!!! All her online notes are very helpful for your tests!! She tries her best to help you understand. Just show up to the labs and she will show you how to do any chem problems you don't understand!!!
Such a good teacher! She is inspiring, and super nice. I took the online class, but lecture is on campus. She gives you pp presentations that explain EVERYTHING, be sure and listen to the audio, too! I have never taken any chem before, not even in high school, and I've got an A in her class. I have learned so much!! Get her if you can!!!!
I agree with the previous posts. Dr. Patrick is one of the BEST instructors at TCC. I had no Chem previously and she made all the concepts clear and was willing to help anyone who asked. I took the online version with on campus lab. This was really an enjoyable experience. By the way, I made an A.
Dr Patrick is extremely fair and crystal clear on what she wants you to know. I did have to use my book some and the class is not so easy that you don't have to study - you do have to put forth effort to make a good grade in this class. Overall she's a great teacher who dosn't try to beat you down.
As many of the voter said, Dr. Patrick is the one of the BEST instructor in TCC. She is super well organized, willing to help out, and also very sweet and nice to her students. If you can, try to get in this class before all seat are filled. This is a winner class. You will learn so much. BTW, I got A for the class.
Dr. Patrick is a great teacher, this was my second go round with chem. I took it with another professor on ne campus and dropped feeling like I needed to change my major, but I received an A in Dr. Patricks class, she gives practice test and old exams which are a great help. I would recommend her to anyone.
Dr. Patrick has become my most favorite teacherr EVER! The powerpoints are very clear on what she wants you to know. The bottom line is that she will give you all the necessary information in COMPLETE detail that you need to pass. It is up to you whether you utilize it or not. Definitely have to be on at midnight to try and get her
Best professor at TCC! She is wonderful. Take her, and you will never regret it. She gives you everything you need to pass. Her lectures are very informative and she goes over a lot of problems in class to make sure everyone understands. I love her.
She is GREAT.Take her if you like to learn chem.I heard TCC NW is easy campus but you are not going to learn a lot there.I would rather prefer to work hard and learn more. She is very well organized.A really good office hours.Ready to help you untill you got the material. she is nice and sweet :D thanks Dr.P Test from review and old exam handouts.
Prof. Patrick is wonderful. She is so nice and really makes chemistry something anyone can learn. I took the class online it was great. Use the practice handouts and read the ppt presentations and you will do well in this class. I barely used the book because her notes were so helpful. LOVED this class!
I was a duel credit student in 11th grade when I took this class and I passed with a hi A. Dr. Patrick is an amazing teacher and is so helpful. The class requires hard work and effort, but if you bring your best you will succeed! Go to class, take notes, and learn and you will do great! I would take her class again in a heartbeat.
Dr. P is a model instructor. She's kind, informative, personable, helpful, and best of all, she makes you work for your grade. I had to study a lot, but she made the subject matter clear and interesting. Test reviews are extensive. Wish she were teaching chem II. I cannot stress enough how awesome she is. Take her!
Take her she is great, i would take her again. she is nice and long long long office hours for student help. she made the test from review exam and old exam. thanks Dr. P
I had no knowledge in Chemistry class, but I got an A just because of how she teaches. She is very clear and easy to understand. Come to class everyday and take a note. If you study her notes, practice reviews, old exam, then you can recieve A. She does not give us any tricky questions. Tests are from notes, practice reviews and old exam.
Dr. Patrick is awesome! I always hated chemistry and she made it easy and fun. She is a great teacher, and she is very helpful. Would definitely recommend.
I found out this morning as I was registering for classes that she charged me for a beaker I broke in her lab and didn't tell me. This fine put a hold on my account so I was unable to register till it was paid. In the time it took me to pay it online, the Anatomy class I really needed to register for filled up and I didn't get a seat in it. :/
this professor had a fee on my account and did not let me know, by the time i tried to register it was too late for the classes i needed, she is not easy like everyone says, and can be biased against "some students" so dont think she is as great as people say, i say she is terrible and unfair.
I can kind of agree with the person below. It's not all that great. Although with applied study, you can pass anything, Dr. Patrick does rush through and at times babble. Would I take her again...? If I have to and I pray that I don't, no....I wouldn't.
I can't imagine someone giving Dr Patrick a bad review. In my opinion she is the best teacher I have had so far at TCC. I was nervous about taking Chmistry, but she teaches in such a way that it makes it much more clear! She lets you know exactly what you need to study, and exams come from power points. I was very happy I took her class!!
Absolutely satisfied with her teachings, she makes thing crystal clear. Everything you need to know are in the powerpoints and if you study those, you are basically guaranteed an A in this class. She is helpful and will take out time to listen to you in whatever it is you may want to talk about, definitely take her if you can. Shes great!
Absolutely wonderful. I would definitely take her for any other chemistry class. Work hard and you will get an A. Take her, you will not regret it.
It is true, everything you need to pass is in the power points. I was SO CLOSE to an A but missed out by .20%. The only issue I have with Dr. Patrick is she assumed when I asked for understanding that I was asking for a nudge or curve of my grade... REALLY?! Is she worth taking? Yes. Am i pissed about her assumption? YES!
GREAT PROFESSOR
Best teacher I've ever had- and I'm extremely picky. I'm horrible at math, but I still have an A. You don't need the book if you take notes in lecture. She has everything organized perfectly. Quick to grade, and quick to respond to emails. Lots of extra credit available. Still, this isn't a blow off class. Take her if you want to understand chem.
Took her class Spr2011:Went step by step through how 2 work chem problems. Gave plenty of extra material 2 practice on. Did not leave much class time 4 ?'s. Liked people to ask ?'s but if not enough wanted more/if asked 2 many wanted less asked! Willing 2 help 1:1 during office hrs. Not as funny as Mr. Langhor! If not good w/math she gives exp
She is the best teacher EVER. She is super nice, smart and helpful.
she assumes everyone knows chemestry and only helped those students who knew what they were doing in class i dont like her n i dont recommend her
I loved her, if you are ready to learn take her. She test you over her notes so if you study those you will do fine. She wants everyone to succeedso if you dont understand, ask her and she will help you. I worked really hard and got an A, just study her powerpoints and ask when you dont understand and you will pass.
Loved this class. She is very helpful. She answers every question you have. You will do well As long as you study her power points and her old exams. I took this as a summer class. If you dont have time to study 10-15 hours a week for this during the summer, then take it during a regular semester.
LOVED LOVED LOVED her! I took her summer session 1 and she was absolutley wonderful! She will do everything to help you suceed. Just study and you will do well
the BEST prof. i have ever taken! super easy but you must study!!!! and attendance is mandatory. very helpful, clear. we didnt use the textbook at all, but you will need you masteringchem for online hmwrk and etc. MUST TAKE her!
She is one of the BEST professors! Loved her! I was dreading chem but she is crystal clear with her notes and lectures, she explains everything in a simple, uncomplicated way and she CARES about her students personally and academically. If you have the chance, TAKE HER!! You won't regret it.
Great teacher and very helpful. Loved that she had our notes available to download .
Great teacher. Explains everything so you can understand it. She offers extra credit on every test.
I did enjoy dr.p org chem a lot. She explained well and made the subject seem so much easier. I didnot even read the book, just worked on her hw, read her powerpoints, and study the machanisms before tests. I made it through the class and thanks to dr.p I found myself being so interested in chem again after doing not so well in both gen chem 1-2
Do not take Chem 1406 with anyone else but Dr. Patrick! I took the online class with the lab on the NE campus - summer 2013. She really does care and has her class designed where her students can get an A. Don't get me wrong, you have to study or you won't pass, she just gives you practice handouts and old exams to study from that are similar if not exactly the same as her tests. Study the lab notes and you'll make an A in the lab too. Also very lenient w schedule issues & the fireman schedule.
I took the online course with the labs at the NE campus. Dr. Patrick is very helpful. I was a little nervous about taking this class, but ended up with an A. You definitely have to study, but she is very helpful.
Dr. Patrick's class was wonderful! I took her over the Summer (Online Class - Lab at school). The pace was perfect for a summer class. You will get an A if you study!! She has great powerpoints, notes, and explains everything in depth. She basically spells out what you need to know for your tests. Take her, you won't regret it!!
Awesome teacher! Took her class online and she has spoiled me. I wish other online professors were as thorough and helpful as she was. She is one of those people who was meant to teach. With that said, you do have to do the work to make a good grade but she lays it all out step by step. Highly recommend!
Dr. Patrick is a great professor. She is sweet and helpful. Her online course is very organized, and she helps you keep up in lab. The book is optional, because everything she wants you to know is in her ppts. Highly recommend her.
Omg take her!!! I was so scared of chemistry so i decided online would be my best bet. Had chem in high school four years ago and forgot everything. She is so nice and sweet. Her online class is so easy!! Homework is simple, very short quizzes, and exams are easy if you look through her power points. Do not buy the book!! TAKE HER!!!!!!!
Had her for lab and wish I had chosen her for lecture as well. Wonderful professor. Very thorough and willing to explain any confusion. Weekly quizzes that are easy if you study your notes. Highly suggested!!
Prof. Patrick is amazing. She is very helpful. Quizzes and exams are easy if you study her notes and PowerPoint's. I highly recommend her. Took her lec online and lab at NE campus. Absolutely best teacher for chemistry.
Dr Patrick is awesome! As long as you pay attention and keep up on lectures/notes you will make a good grade! Best chem teacher ever and take advantage of her workshops--really helpful.
Dr. Patrick is AWESOME and AMAZING. If this is your first time taking Chemistry or has been a while and you're taking it again-Dr. Patrick is the one to choose! I highly encourage you to study her notes, come to class prepared and you will make it in her class. I can tell she truly loves to teach her students.
One of the best instructors I haver vet had. You have to be willing to do the work but she gives you an extremely large toolbox to do it with. Hybrid online class was awesome.
If you are nervous about college chemistry, take Dr. Patrick! Everything you need to know is on her power points and practice sheets. WRITE OUT the PP slides as a study technique! I didn't buy the text book. Lab attendance is a must due to weekly quizzes. No lab tests. For lecture: online quizzes, 3 exams and final. I made an A with effort!
I took chemistry twice in high school and this class put all my fears to rest. Dr. Patrick is clear and helpful, but you have to put in the work during lab. Her exams are right from the PowerPoints she gives and her practice problems are always helpful. TAKE THIS CLASS!
This is the best chemistry class I've taken. She is an amazing teacher and will help you with everything. She makes this class really easy for you and explains everything in detail and will go back over it if the class still doesn't understand it. DEFINITELY take her!!
Dr. Patrick has a history with teaching high school and you see a bit of her quirkiness from that come out. Otherwise, her lectures are basically powerpoints available online. HMWRK is extra credit towards tests that are hard only because there aren't a ton of questions asked so each question matters. She gives a lot of material to help you succeed
I LOVE Dr. Patrick. She is amazing. I hadn't taken Chemistry in such a long time and never had a good teacher so I was so afraid to take this course. She makes it so easy to understand and helps you a ton. I've definitely learned so much in her class. I recommend her for sure.
Dr. Patrick is very hard in Chemistry. She rushes through her lectures and expects all her students to understand. She acts like she is in a rush to a finish line. I would not recommend taking her. Chemistry is hard by itself, and she makes it harder to understand. She is not a good professor.
She is not always well prepared. It is hard for a student if the teacher is confused.
Dr Patrick is adorable! I really enjoyed her lectures and labs. Her powerpoints and extra study materials are very helpful. She made Chemistry fun! Of course you have to study, that's just common sense.
Good clear presentations, try to make sure the material is well received. Labs are a bit laborious, but not as hard as lectures. If you do the homework she gives thoroughly you will do good on the tests. Good class atmosphere overall, good teacher.
If your looking for someone that is down to earth she is the one that is understanding. Give her your best and you can still make it.
I haven't taken chemistry since 2007. I loved taking Dr. Patrick's class this past semester. The material is pretty simple and her notes are so awesome, I didn't look at the book once. ONLINE LECTURES WERE AMAZING. Simple, clear and concise. Tests are a little difficult but it's chemistry. I would recommend to serious students.
Ok so here's the deal. She is great. Class is easy. If you cannot get an A I don't know what to say. If you get a C in this class you are lazy or really might want to consider another field. She gives you all resources you could ever need and will answer questions promptly. She is AWESOME :D
Very straightforward class. She has lots of handouts & practice quizzes/exams on blackboard which go very great with note taking and are very helpful. Also gives extra credit for doing the optional online homework, which is also helpful for the exams. I don't see how you could fail unless you miss a few lecture days (which happened to me).
She is very helpful and nice, as long as she sees you are trying she will help you. She wants to see her students do well and seems to really enjoy teaching, one of the best professors I have had at TCC
One of the best teachers to take for Gen-Chem. Chemistry itself requires work, but she has printable lecture notes, helpful worksheets, repeatable blackboard non-graded quizzes and previous test materials, and a supplemental instructor, it's hard to not pass the class. Just don't be absent a lot and you will be fine. Textbook not needed.
Dr . Patrick is a good professor in my opinion. She is not easy and gives quizzes in each lab class. Her lectures exams are not so easy but chemistry is hard by itself. There is one good thing about Patrick and is that she tests what she teaches. You study her practice problems and you are fine. I recommend her to anyone!!!
I took Dr Patrick for chem 1411 in the Spring and i learned a lot. It had been over 10 years since i take chem but studying hard and doing many practice problems daily i could made an A in this class. Chem is not an easy subject but if you study, it is possible to make an A in her lecture and lab classes. I did it, so you can do it too! the best!
I actually liked this course. I ended up with a B, but I learned a lot and the labs were fun.
Dr. Patrick is AMAZING! Chemistry is difficult no matter what, but she really broke down the material in easier to understand pieces. She offers help to those who put effort into the work. Textbook is not needed. She has amazing videos, worksheets and practice quizzes. She is the best professor I have ever had because she wants students to succeed
Take her! She makes a hard subject easy to understand. Lots of homework. Time consuming class. But that's to be expected with chem. Quizzes every lab, but they're easy & she covers what's on them right before you take them. She is so nice and helpful. Really glad I took her for chemistry, and wouldn't hesitate to take her for 1412 if possible.
Prof. Patrick is an amazing teacher I really wasn't sure about chemistry until I took her class. Now I love chemistry there is a ton of work to be done ,but thats to be expected in chemistry. You can always email her or go to her office and ask questions and she will always help you. She is also probably the nicest professor you will ever have.
Would not recommend this professor at all! Avoid.
Very good teacher! I would highly recommend her! I was a little nervous at first about chemistry, but she explains everything well.
I love Dr. Patrick. The course material is hard and you have to put in lots of hours to get a good grade but Dr. Patrick gives you everything you need to succeed. Her videos and Power Points are very informative and she only tests on information she has given you. She is sweet and has always been patient with my million questions. Highly recommend!
She is the best Chemistry professor that I've had so far. It has been 5 years since I took Chem in high school but she makes it easy to understand. She explains well on her video for Lecture too.I take her both Lec & Lab. Quizzes every lab. She usually covers what's on them before you take them. She's so nice. TAKE HER.
Wonderful Professor! Very helpful, kind, and will be there for you to fully understand the material. As a person who hates chemistry , she made the course bearable. You're amazing Dr. Patrick!
Great blended class. Her online power points and you tube videos are some of the best I've ever seen. I was really afraid to take chemistry, but Dr. Patrick made it easy. No Need for textbook, only lab manual. Take good notes for ppt and videos and you'll be set.
Chemistry is, in my opinion, one of the hardest sciences and Dr. Patrick did a wonderful job at explaining everything. She made herself available if you ever needed help. She gives out multiple practice tests for review and while they can be time consuming DO THEM because they help tremendously.
She is so passionate and always give you a good grade. Also the test is so easy, just review what she teaches in class. Highly recommend her.
Best chemistry professor I've had, and I have had 2 other general chemistry professors. If I would have taken her first, I wouldnt have needed to go back to intro, because I felt like I barely understood my last professor. Professor Patrick really knows how to teach so you understand. Tests are very easy, as long as you show up and study.
Fantastic instructor! I knew nothing of chemistry before this class and was really worried I would not do well, however Dr Patrick makes chemistry fun and a subject which anyone can learn with effort. I took a blended course, and have no regrets! Response to emails quickly, online videos for lab, lots of short quizzes (easy). Awesome class!
Dr. Patrick is a jewel! I was intimidated about taking chemistry, however Dr. Patrick made this class manageable and very hard to fail. She is very approachable and wants all of her students to succeed. No need for a book, everything is covered in her Power Points and there are no surprises on her exams. You will not find a better professor!
Dr Patrick has a great class that is clearly organized. Do not buy the book, just study her powerpoints, stay on top of the lectures and quizzes. Spread out your studying and you will do fine, she does not try to trick you at all. For tests, go over the powerpoints and listen to what she says in them and study it, and you should do fine
Her powerpoints focus in on what you must study and she gives out every resource possible to ensure that you succeed. She outlines everything and is always available for outside help. The tests can be a bit tough but if you study the powerpoints and rework the practice tests they will be simple. All in all I would definitely recommend taking her.
Dr. Patrick is a great professor. I took her class for fall 2017 and loved it. It was a blended course, which means you have to do lecture on your own, she went over the most important material on the day we would meet for class. She always answered to my questions. I emalied her several times and always responded in hours.
She does one of those "flipped" classes which really kinda sucks. A lot of the lecture material is outside of class. Her examples are nothing like the Sapling assignments or anything like the test questions. I'm a science major and I had to drop this class, which says a lot. DON'T TAKE HER UNLESS YOU HAVE TO!
Dr. Patrick has everything available for you online.. however, if you're having trouble understanding something DO NOT ask her for help in class because she will simply tell you to look online how rude! overall I would say to take this course if its the only course you're taking. 3 quizzes due a week at 8am, exams graded very weird NO EXTRA CREDIT
I passed this class by the skin of my teeth I simply never understood any of the concepts or what the heck was going on. Dr . Patrick is just not a good teacher. I absolutely hate to say this because she is very sweet. Whether its her style, her direction - I just didn't get anything. The online quizzes and grading scheme saved my butt.
I took her class this spring semester. It was not full class lecture. So, you have to learn lecture by yourself. Once a week, there is lab class. You dont need book. Everything from blackboard. So many quizes. But dont worry. You can drop lowest score. Overally, she is a good teacher. Easy A.
I love Dr. Patrick. I was afraid to take chemistry. I havent taken chemistry in 10 years! I loved her blended course very understandable. All her quizzes are easy & her exams. I could have made an A, but I had other classes. This class is a ton of work & reading. Make sure to have time to go over the slides & really study because no EC.
Dr. Patrick is one of the most organized, straight forward, caring, and fair professors I've ever had. Attendance is absolutely mandatory but your time is never wasted in class. She's easily reachable by email, has crystal clear grading criteria, and her teaching method and course organization is set up in a way to maximize your success.
Chemistry is a difficult course. Dr. Patrick provides a ton of resource and then some!!! With all of the resources she gives her students, there really isnt an excuse not to succeed in this course.
she is a very good teacher and amazing at teaching and made things way easier. Only thing bad about her is that if you ask her questions she gets annoyed and responds in a sarcastic way
Dr. Patrick is amazing! I have never seen a professor so organized. She provides so much excellent study material. You know exactly what is expected from you & the deadline for everything. The book is not needed, she gives you what you need. Loved this class & would love to have her for all of my classes.
She is an awesome proff she somehow made difficult material super easy to understand and gave a bunch of practice work that guaranteed a high grade on exams !
Very nice and approachable. Videos are amazing. Rewatch at your own pace.
Can't say enough good things about Dr. Patrick! She actually cares about her students and answers any questions you have. There is nothing she hides from you in exams, she makes it very clear what to study. Explains things extremely well. There is a lot of papers to print but its a small price to pay for an A.
Dr. Patrick is lazy, she posts videos on Bb instead of actually teaching she treats her lecture class as an online course. You have to show up and participate, and on top, the quizzes were pre-assigned on Bb where you have 8 to 10 questions under 3 minutes. She gets annoyed whenever you ask her when a certain thing is due,her answer "look on Bb"
She will hand hold you to an A. However, she often taught antiquated/wrong chem concepts irrelevant to someone who is trying to prepare for the future (MCAT, 4yr uni.). She needs to work on her professionalism, as her answer keys posted are always riddled with errors, she is quick to anger when asked to clarify concepts, and she is slow to grade.
Professor Patrick isn't bad at all gives out alot of practice work, which you will have to do in order to pass. I do not recommend taking this class with another science class its hard. She gives you all the stuff to succeed just go to class practice and get your free points by going to SI or tutoring lab.
She is extremely organized, communicates well with students, provides reasonable tests, timely, and polite. I took this class for a blended lecture. With that being said, there was a decent amount of homework. However, I found that to be a good thing because it helped me learn better and it improved my overall grade. I highly recommend her!
This was my first blended class so lecture mostly online a lab once a week on campus. She does review the lessons but its really up to you to understand it. she does give videos and powerpoints to help but i guess its just not my style. I prefer detailed explanation especially something like chemistry. Also she counts off for minute things.
I'm currently taking organic chemistry at SMU (TCC transfer) and I now feel like I did not give Dr. Patrick nearly enough credit. Since taking her class I now know how wonderfully she explained difficult topics. Her examples, practice problems, and guided notes are above and beyond her job obligations. You will not find a better chemistry professor
I don't know on what qualities other people rate a professor, but I will never recommend her to anybody. Her tests are very hard, every week four timing quizzes, team work, no extra credit or bonus questions, taking off points. No make up test for no reason
Nice person, but she made it to hard to get a good grade! Don't take her!!!!!!
By far the hardest class I ever took. Chem for engineering sounds hard. She tried to make it as easy as possible. I suck at chemistry but still managed to pass. :)
Just know Chemistry 1411 is a lot of studies. I took her on my second attempt and passed with an easy B. You have to listen to the lecture, she will give all the instructions for tests. Her lab is very intellectual, so u will learn and do well for sure. Check her online resources that include her own lecture videos. U are sure to pass this class .
This was by far the hardest class I have taken. Got an A in my calculus 2 class but this class was so much harder. I would studied over the things she would tell us to study and the tests would be different from what I studied. So if you're like me and you HAVE to take her, here are some tips: study over EVERYTHING. Especially the handouts.
When I first took Dr. Patrick, this was the second time that I took Gen Chem 1. She helped me understand the material much better than the first time I took it with a different professor. It is a lot of work, however, but as long as you invest the right amount of time and effort into it, you'll be alright.
You need to be very prepared for class in order to make an A. There are quizzes every week,& you need to stay on top of your work. You definitely do not want to fall behind in this class, there's a lot to cover! She creates videos to watch over each lesson; she's very dedicated & cares about her class. Overall a great professor, I would take again
Awful communicator. By the midterm she still had ungraded homework to the point I thought I was failing. My grade went up 2 letter points by the time she graded it all. It's almost time for finals and the test today covers an experiment she hasn't graded! Would not recommend for anyone. Gives NO feedback to help you! Won't let you see tests after.
She does a great job in the lectures. she allows the use of notes during the test. Its on your own time type of class (during Covid) and is not too difficult. As long as you just do what is asked for the week you're good.
This professor is a sweetheart, but man I struggled with her lectures. She was always explaining terms as if we had doctorates already, she never showed work, and would actually put the wrong #s sometimes, and it just left me confused. I was lucky to end up with at least a B for this class. Tests are heavy, and you got to print EVERYTHING.
She is very sweet, but shows no mercy with grades. There's no extra credit, and quizzes are timed, and have very little time to complete. You have to print out every single paper for this class, and it's A LOT.
Not terrible, I'm not doing great right now, but my issue was the lack of organization at first. Otherwise, labs every week, lots of easy quizzes, little HW, 5 major tests. She drops 1 lab and lab quiz. Her tests were exactly what she goes over in her lec, which are posted online so you could miss lec and be fine if you understand it, just not lab.
I'm currently taking chem and have an A. She gives you everything you need in order to succeed. It is a hybrid class so we only meet once a week, it is up to YOU to be disciplined and work hard. I recommend her. She is soft-spoken but is there if you have questions. No extra credit, but there are plenty of quizzes to help your grade out.
I loved professor Patrick, she is amazing! I loved her lecture videos and she is very clear on how she expects things. Write down everything she writes and says! I was terrified to take this class, but she is so lovely and respectful. I would take it again. Her quizzes are online and some are tightly timed, so be ready to study.
She the best, talking from experience she was the best, I understand her well.
I loved Dr. Patrick!!! She provides so many resources to use for exams and is good at explaining topics in simpler terms. Go to lecture and do the homework!
I was worried when I started the class as math is not my strong suit. However, after the first test I got the hang of what she expected. The assignment load is the same each week and is very consistent/predictable. Only thing I didn't care for were the assigned seats. Other than that- I highly recommend her!
Very organized, she would make fill in the blank notes and easy homework. She constantly handed out review sheets to help study for tests. Half of lecture are videos with quiz. The labs were super easy and she really explained the procedure well. Great teacher who really cares.
Very organized on Canvas, easy to understand lectures, responds to emails within a day. There was lecture notes/quizzes and lab notes/quiz due each week, it was a lot at first but manageable. Definitely attend lectures to do well! She cares about her students and tries to learn everyone's names.
The grading is based on lab, tests, and quizzes before and after each lab. Lab wasn't hard and she wasn't a tough grader on that, but when it comes to tests it's very hard to understand. Tests take up majority of the grade. Ended up failing but took it with another professor which was very helpful and passed.
Professor Patrick is great - really cares and provides tons of resources like lecture videos and review sheets. With unstuck AI for study prep, I did well in this challenging but manageable course.
She has been one of the best professors I have had and made learning chemistry fun. She has a template for all the notes you'll need and you just need to fill it out. Most learning I did was with her practice material which she gives a lot of, most of which is optional. If you're not terribly good at chemistry, take her.
This professor provides youtube videos of her covering all the topics you need to know throughout the course. It is very clear what you need to know on exams and the labs are pretty laidback compared to biology classes I have taken!
You're better off taking any another professor. Timed pre labs & post labs, lecture exams are 45% and super tricky, final is 20% and comprehensive. She expects you to learn from her YouTube before class. Super stingy with extra credit, only one chance on the final. Lab tests are easy because she's not the one who makes them :)
Prof Patrick is a brilliant educator with her course being the most organized I've ever taken. Watch and practice her powerpoints and equation videos repeatedly prior to each class/quiz. Concepts are all given. All online pre & post lab quizzes were overwhelming at first but kept learning on track. Lowest grade from each weight category is dropped.
Dr. Patrick is a very caring and kind professor. She is always willing to help a student understand concepts. I took her in a blended course which was very demanding. Even so, if you put in the work, it is possible to earn a good grade. I would definitely take her again, only in a regular length course next time around.
Professor Patrick changed my life. I came into her class lost and unsure of my future, but she saw something in me and believed I could succeed despite the odds. Her guidance and genuine belief in her students made everything finally click. Chemistry wasn't easy, but I found a passion for it, and my life path became clear because of her.
Very respectful professor overall. I took eng chemistry in the spring before with Uppal and was unsatisfied with my C grade, so I dropped the course—best decision. The labs can be challenging, but she is always available to help. For lecture exams, rewatching her practice videos and reviewing the PowerPoint lectures is key.
