Sue is a great professor. She will get on your case if you don't do the work, but only to try to get you to do better. She may focus a little too much on baddies, honestly. She tries to help if you're a bad. If you're not, easiest A ever, IF you do what's asked. Show up, read the material, do the work. No mystery there. Excellent lecturer. A++++
Sue is awesome! Good class, not too difficult, very useful and relative!
I honestly loved this class and Professor Peters. The homework isn't to much work. If you show up do your readings and turn in the work on time then this is an easy class. I personally didn't do a lot of the textbook reading but the lectures in class helped me out a lot. Tests are every three chapters and not to hard if you read.
Dr Peters is a really good professor. Her class is easy if you do the work on time and the workbook exercises. And she actually cares about you as a student too. I would recommend her to anyone she's a great professor. I wish I could retake her class again!
Best prof ever I truly enjoined her class!
Read your textbook and do the work. If you do that you will receive a good grade. If you are struggling, talk to her. She will do what she can to help you. Best professor I have had yet.
Good professor!!!! She is very nice and always likes to offer students help. I liked her class, it was very entertaining because she used lots of different ways to make the class funny. Highly recommend her class!
Probably one of my all time fave professors. She genuinely cares about her students and wants them to do well. Her lectures go through everything on the test, and she's very passionate about what she teaches. When you get into the sexualitysocial psychology stuff, her discussions are so intense and interesting! Def my fave class this semester.
She's awesome and she tries to avoid taking sides during a discussion. She helps people learn to think critically and she always wants to help you learn. The tests aren't hard if you study, use the textbook, and pay attention in class. You can also go back after the test to argue for missed points. Essays are easy. She's interested in the topics.
Awesome teacher all around. Great detail in lectures, makes the content of the class interesting to the students by using real life examples. Fair grader. There to help. Made class exciting, which i don't ever say. Would take her again!
Uninspiring, when reviewing exams she said tests are too easy since students did well (the #s actually appear to fall into average ranges). Discouraging as if she was aiming for more fails. Students who are within a 1% margin of moving up a letter grade are not rounded up. The professor doesnt give points for class participation, despite saying so
Sue is AMAZING. I would highly recommend her for any class. Exams are easy if you read the book & do the reading guides. She really wants you to succeed in class as well as in life. Her lectures are so interesting and she makes you think critically and intelligently. Not a boring class, super engaging she knows her stuff :)
She was the best professor i have ever had. She makes everything relate to real life. Her tests are not easy if you don't read the book!!! People who said she is tough obviously did not study enough. I loved her and will take more of her classes. She used to be a therapist and is there to talk about any problems you have.
Sue was an amazing professor- I took so much more away from the class than I expected. I passed the class with an A, but that's because I participated and took the time to learn the material and read assigned readings... I would recommend her to anyone interested in being challenged, but in a way that is stimulating and not intimidating.
Best teacher I've ever had! High but clear expectations. Genuinely cares. Available. Approachable. Inspiring. Knows her stuff!
She was so awesome. She's very passionate about the topic. She KNOWS her stuff. I recommend her!
Sue is amazing. She's a tough grader, but will help you to a specific point. Make sure you read your syllabus, show up to class and participate. She knows what she's talking about and expands your thought process. Tests are hard to get an A on. She's really funny too.
Sue is really the best. There is a lot of reading but it is interesting. By reading prior to class, Sue is really good at relating the reading to real life which makes it easy to remember. She won't baby you so have your stuff together and pay attention to details! I would highly recommend her as a professor!
awesome woman, made a big impact in my academics as well as my social life. class was very interesting and easy if you read the book and study for the tests. she really emphasizes the importance of communication and critical thinking in real life, which I loved. always something to learn from her.
She is one of my favorite professors at Normandale! So smart and inspirational in her lectures and she really relates the content in a way where we can make changes in the world. Wish she taught more classes so I could be her student again! Highly recommend her.
She's a great professor. She will connect a lot of the learning to real wold situations and can help you think more critically which we could all use more of :) If you have questions she's very approachable. Her lectures are engaging and she thinks about a lot of examples to see things more clearly which I truly appreciate!
Sue is a great professor! She is very clear on her expectations. Make sure you read the book, she doesn't go over everything in class!
Sue is the best teacher I've ever had. She has a great sense of humor and I don't know a student who doesn't like her. She genuinely wants her students to succeed. She has great lectures and knows how to teach. She's incredibly intelligent. She'd like you to read but you can get away without it - just be sure to attend class for the discussion.
Sue is by far my favorite teacher at Normandale. She's super funny, and also really engaging. At the beginning of the semester, she gave us extra credit to come to her office and chat with her. She obviously loves her students and wants them to pass. I looked forward to coming to this class every week and instead of memorizing info, I learned a lot
Excellent teacher - best I've had! Wish I could take many more classes from her & highly recommend. Smart. Funny. Helpful. Inspiring. Great explainer. Real world experience. Excellent - excellent-excellent!!!
Best ever! My friends recommended I take her & I highly recommend you take her. She's tough but clear & really supportive/helpful. Definitely will give you whatever assistance you need to succeed, especially if you seek her after class. I felt inspired, learned to love to learn, and think more critically now I think.
Wow - love psychology and love Dr. Peters! Hard concepts but she explains things so well that if you study, you can relatively easily do well. Great lectures, ties concepts to her past work as a therapist - this helps too to make things real and make sense. Inspiring teacher! Great person! Cares a lot about her students and always helpful!
Never had a better teacher! Never met a student who doesn't love her! Great class! Do the work and you'll be fine.
Awesome instructor - one of the best I've ever had in all my schooling. She's really smart & makes you think you can be too. Psych is kind of a hard subject, but she makes it clear and fun too. Would highly recommend her again and again!
Great teacher! At first I was kind of intimidated but the more I got to know her the more I knew how great she was. You have to work hard but she's fair & explains things in really helpful ways. I spoke with her often outside of class about school, careers, life, and realized she actually really cares , not just a show. Very cool prof!
I'm an international student, you know it's hard to keep up with professors at college sometimes, and I was afraid at first when registered for this one , but all the materials in the class were explained sooo well. I can't expect more than that. She is very inspiring, always has a lot of energy till the last minute of the 2-hour-class session.
Loved her one of the best professors I've ever had and I wish I could take her class again!
Sue is a great professor!!
Sue is awesome! She's a really great teacher, seems to actually care about students, and is pretty fun and funny in class. Workload isn't bad, tests are fine if you study, one major paper due. Would totally recommend her - one of the best I've ever had for sure!
Love Sue! I missed a quiz the single day I decided to stay home sick, and was frustrated at the time. But she explained to me her reasoning and it was solid logic so I just made sure to be there next time! She was really inspiring and makes you feel like you can succeed in everything you try at. Loved the class
Sue is one of the best professors I've ever had at Normandale! She gives out study guides online to help you study for tests, and everything on the test is included in the study guide. She also only assigns one major paper. Just make sure to show up for class as much as you can, she does a lot of in-class activity and quizzes!
Hands down best teacher I've ever had! She knows her stuff, definitely cares about student success, has professional experience she ties into class, funny, relaxed atmosphere, fair grader. She doesn't make allowances for lame excuses - kind of forces you to put your best foot forward. Loved the class!!!
Amazing professor! I came to school after a long gap and wasn't feeling confident. Sue sought me out to make sure I recognized I was doing just fine. This couldn't have come at a more important time - made all the difference for me. Great class! I learned a ton about myself & the subject of Psychology. Made me kind of interested in the field.
Sue is absolutely amazing!!! Everything is outlined for you in the syllabus, which made it easy to follow. YES, you have to read the assigned chapters because that's what's discussed in class and on exam, but she puts study guides on D2L, so if you fill it out and study you should have no problem on your exams. Only 1 paper!
This would be my second time having her as a professor and she's still the best I've had. She's amazing, very interesting lectures, very little homework. You do have to read a lot, or you won't pass exams. She's funny, always engaged in class, she cares about her students. The best professor ever, I would definitely take her again.
Sue is very sweet, sometimes when you ask her questions she seems rude with her answer. Exams are all critical thinking which makes them harder. There is no paper for this class anymore. Everything is in syllabus. You have to read the book. Pop quizzes are giving on readings. Barely gives extra credit. 5 exams and drops the lowest one.
Best prof EVER! No-nonsense which is great - treats you like you are an adult who is responsible for your own outcome. Clear. Funny as heck! Lots of real-life examples to make the material easier to relate to. Made me want to be a better person!
Intro psych is hard but so worth it. Terrific teacher - one of the top I've ever had. Seems she really cares. Super funny. Interesting classes and time flies by. Great conversations with her many times even outside of class. Super supportive. Helped me see I can do this!
Her lectures are very helpful, and amazing. By far my most favorite teacher, and would definitely recommend.
BEST teacher ever. I have learned the most in this class. Her lecture was so interesting and helping you to understand the concepts. What I have found the most helpful was the case study and the examples her provided. I would highly recommend this class. I will for sure take her class again if she teaches other psychology class.
One of the best Professors I have ever had! She is very understanding and easy to work with. Her lectures are very interesting and informative.
Prof. Peters is awesome! Lectures are super interesting and really made me interested in Psychology. She is a very passionate person and works very hard and it shows! Amazing class! Would take again in a heartbeat!
She was an amazing professor and I highly recommend her class. It was extremely interesting to me and if you're interested in the way people think then you should take this class and if you put the work in and study you'll get an A.
Sue is the best professor! She is approachable, and she cares about her students. Her lectures were amazing. She will truly impact your life if you put forth the effort and participate during her lectures. Few homework assignments, so do not miss them - she does not accept late work! Keep up with the reading and you will do great.
She lectures most of the class period. There is no homework, however you have to read the textbook. Which I recommend doing so you can understand the lecture. Test are easy and she give you a study guide. She is also very caring and makes herself approachable.
Sue is just absolutely amazing. It is clear in the syllabus how much work you have to put in to receive an A. She makes class and lectures so enjoyable by telling past stories as a therapist and relating the material to everyday life. She is super easy to talk and her tests can be difficult but if you study you will do just fine. TAKE HER!
Sue made complex ideas easier to grasp in the way she explained things. She is easy to talk to and very understanding about personal matters. Although this class is heavy on reading and lectures, I never once dreaded going to class. 10/10 would recommend Sue!
I absolutely loved her. She's so genuine and hilarious! Her lectures are pretty interesting and she's an approachable person so you don't have to be intimidated by going up to her asking for help, etc. I highly recommend taking her class!
Sue is the BEST psych teacher by far!! I was hesitant on taking her since I've heard mixed reviews but this is definitely an easy A. There's a lot of reading required and her lectures are mostly skimming through what we've read and dissecting in real words. She gives the best examples that are useful on the tests and the class flies by so quickly
LOVED this professor! I learned so much. She's funny and makes the learning seem easy and fun. A lot of reading, but she makes it understandable. Actually inspired me to want to be a better person and turned me on to psychology. Wish all teachers were like her!
Great Professor really enjoyed every single minute of this class. Going in first I really was nervous because its Psychology and Pysch is not easy but getting one of the best grades of this class I really was overthinking it and glad I took her. 10/10
Sue is great - She has a very energetic teaching style and is really knowledgable both with the material and outside of the material. Insist on being on time. She has pop quizzes&doesn't let you take them if late. The one down side was her very vocalized views & not agreeing with the,. However, it is something that can be overlooked.
GREAT! There was a fair amount of reading on the online textbook, but if you just skim the chapters and pay attention in class you'll do fine. She will occasionally assign worksheets as homework that are super easy and email you videos to watch for class. Tests are pretty easy, all multiple choice. If you ever need help, she's happy to. No final!
FAVORITE PROFESSOR I've had at Normandale so far! Sue really cares about her students and wants you to reach your full potential. If you go to class every day and take notes on presentations you won't have to read the textbook at all (I only did when I studied). She is very passionate about psych and she gave us two opportunities for extra credit!
GOD BLESS THIS PROFESSOR! FAVORITE professor so far. Every time I walked out of her class I wanted to improve myself and looked at the world a whole different way. Discussions are meaningful, we discuss a lot of real life problems and things that rly help u view others in a better way. Love her sm and class is fun -The textbook is online&free! :)
Best professor iv had so far! Respectful and caring are at the base of her personality. awesome person awesome professor. Her psychology class is not an easy A but if you put in the time and work and show up to the classes there is no reason why you shouldn't get one. U will learn so much in her class if you apply yourself
The class can be tough and theres A LOT of reading required if you want to receive an A. The study guides are helpful that are provided on D2L and make sure you study it good.
Sue is a fun professor and is middle of the road as far as difficulty goes. She explains everything well and does her best to clear up any confusion. The textbook she uses is very helpful and has a lot to engage you. I recommend going to class everyday because her classes are not boring, and she gives out a few pop quizzes.
Best professor that I have ever had! Super funny and helpful. Truly cares about her students. There are not many things that are graded except for exams which are multiple choice. If you study, you'll be just fine!
Sue is such a great professor. I took this class for a credit, and she really made me interested in psychology. She is very relatable and easy to understand. Sue really wants her students to succeed; she is always asking for students' opinions on the class set up and suggestions if you have any. I'm taking the hybrid, so there is tons of reading.
I had her for Intro to psych. She's interesting and a pretty easy class. However, readings are hefty and essential. Shes also super liberal. I loved her though.
Professor knows you by name, very personable, and the best professor I have had. She gives some lectures, but mainly class discussions or real life examples when she was a therapist. She has many different ways of teaching. Some are lecture, discussions, quizzes, worksheets, bringing a brain to class, jeopardy's, and study guides.
Sue was an amazing professor. She was always there outside of class or email to help. She went over anything we wanted to know about. If you read the textbook and did the assignments you can get an A.
Lots of reading and notes but I had her for 8 am classes for two hours yet I always was entertained. Taking her this semester as well. She is very open-minded about religions, sexuality, etc. which makes her class so interesting. She questions the "normal".
Sue is a great professor and truly cares about her students. You can go to her with anything and she will help as much as she can. I cannot recommend her enough.
This professor was one of the best I've ever had. She created a supportive learning environment. Instead of lecturing the class she organized full class discussions which helped me understand the content better. You'll have to do your work in the class but she will help you if you're struggling on anything. I would definitely take her again.
Sue was genuine and cared about students. One time she even brought us all bagels! She does not ever tolerate phone use during lecture, but you can step out of class if needed. You might pass by careful listening, but to get an A, you need to read the textbook! Tests have applied knowledge and terms, but Sue is always ready to help with a smile : )
Because of the COVID outbreak, I didn't get to form too much of an opinion about Sue personally, but she's a good choice and seemed very respected by her former students. Reading the textbook is super important because she won't teach you something unless it's explicitly asked! Assignments weren't overwhelming and easy enough
Second class I've taken with her and I love her even more now. She's super inspiring and eye-opening. She legitimate cares about you, your feelings, and your mental health during her course. I'm a psych major but even not psych majors enjoyed her Abnormal Psych.
She is super nice and understanding. I was interested in the material we were learning but she made it boring. Lectures made me want to sleep. But, she is very passionate about the subject. Open note/group quizzes for every chapter. I didn't read the textbook and I got almost 100% in the class. It's easy to get an A if you study before each class.
She is one of the WORST professors I have ever taken! Her exams were absolutely ridiculous (and I took her for an intro class). Everything I ever "learned" was just to pass the exams, none of it really stuck. Also, she was a very tough grader with no reason behind the grade. She basically scares students away from the amazing topic of psychology.
This was the second class I've taken with Sue and she's the best! I'm taking my third one with her Fall 2020. She is very understanding if you just reach out and are honest with her, she is always willing to help. Probably my favorite teacher ever. The class work is manageable and she makes it easier. If you pay attention you will pass.
I really liked this class - had no idea how much I could use this in my everyday life. Lots of reading and sometimes hard, but workload and tests are fair. Peters is funny and helpful. Lots of feedback on work but helpful. Recorded lectures were great. Even online she was always available and helpful.
Best teacher I've ever had! Great class. Lots of work but good variety of materials to learn from. Sue is very helpful, genuinely cares about us and not just about school. Really good at explaining things. Very flexible and supportive. Had fun. Great variety of guest speakers and this REALLY helped me learn. Sue's absolutely terrific!
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! I've taken her Intro Class (in-person) and Abnormal Psych (online). Probably wouldn't take her class if you don't want to genuinely put in the work and learn. You're going to be pushed to use critical thinking skills and develop meaningful analysis' and discussions with your peers. The format was very clear and organized.
Great professor! Would definitely take another class of hers. Gives really good feedback so you know exactly where you are and what you need to work on. Good workload schedule and tests are very minimal (weekly quizzes though). The quizzes are super easy if you read the book and look at the stuff posted.
Susan is an amazing professor and really is passionate about her field of study and her student's success. She is very accessible and responds very quickly. Her class is taught by a mixture of studying through the textbook and her lectures. Additionally there is a study packet for each chapter and also provides optional videos to help the students.
Beautiful grader and feedback galore! Peters is very responsive and amazing to work with, especially when critiquing work. Surprisingly low weekly work, usually two assignments a week with a reading. READ THE TEXTBOOK AND TRUST YOUR GUT!!
I loved having Peters, she was very quick to respond to emails and is very willing to help. I was struggling with how much coursework I had with all my classes and she met with me over zoom to help me set myself up better for finishing the work on time and helping me understand what we were talking about. She truly cares about her students.
Super nice! She really cares about what she is teaching and she gives AMAZING feedback on work
Proff. Peters is genuinely the best professor I have had. She is so passionate about what she teaches, and only has assignments that are actually relevant and necessary to learn about. Throughout the semester, she showed sincere compassion and was understanding of all situations. Also lots of extra credit. I truly enjoyed her class so much.
I LOVED HER! She gave amazing feedback, graded quickly, and cared for her students immensely. I had her for both intro to psych and abnormal psych, and I ended both classes with high As. There are some heavy text readings, but nothing too much. Only a handful of exams + weekly quizzes. If you read the textbook and watch the videos, you'll get an A.
GREATEST
She was so amazing! Very thoughtful and connected with students! Papers and reading were hard but manageable!
You can tell that Sue is passionate about teaching psychology. She is easily accessible and gives very meaningful feedback. It's clear that she wants her students to succeed, and expects everyone to think critically and improve with each assignment. She's somewhat of a tough grader, but if you follow her guidance, you'll learn a lot.
Loved her. She's a tough but fair grader. She relies heavily on the book for quizzes and exams so make sure to read it. Her lectures, readings, and videos she assigns are very interesting. She gives a study guide each week that you can fill out which was very helpful for this class. She is very passionate about psych and cares about students.
She made everything very hard to understand and as many notes as I took, the tests reflected none of them. I do not recommend her or this course at all unless you prepare yourself for a semester full of heartache and overthinking.
Sue is by far the best Professor I have had at Normandale, her content is applicable and she genuinely cares about her students!
It was because of Sue Peters that I fell in love with Psychology. She is by far one of the best professors I had in my life, and I will never forget her lectures. Last semester was her final year as a Professor, and I was honored to be one of her last students. Thank you so much for pushing me to be the best version of myself!
I loved this professor. She was caring and values mental health. She is a tough grader, but fair. Good at explaining things and making it interesting. I feel like I actually learned from this course, which is rare for me to say about Normandale professors. Highly recommend taking this course with her if you want to explore psychology.
