Ms. Rich is a challenging instructor and lets you know up front. Though hard she is fair and you will gain alot from her instruction. If you need assistance, she is willing to oblige. You will receive university level teaching at a comm college price.
Although a hard teacher, I finally feel like I have completed some college level work. Any other class I have taken at Highline I feel like I just breezed through for my 4.0, but in her class, I most definitely earned it! Thanks!
Incredibly hard class, but I learned quite a bit! I worked hard to earn my grade in that class! Even though it's rough, the results when you are finished are well worth the effort.
Completely NOT NICE TEACHER those people are out of there minds.........she puts students down and is rude as hell BEwARE!!! SHE STARTS CLASS 5 MIN EARLY BEACUSE SHE HOPES YOUR LATE shes a WITCH!
HOly cow - she's the meanest woman ever. She's really rude to people in front of the whole class. I put the most time in her class as i have ever put into any class and got the lowest grade I've ever gotten. She's really hard - I had to write a historical criticism literature anaylasis in her writing 101 class! Don't take her classes!!
witchy woman....you'll spend your entire life doing homework for this class.
Treated us all like little kids. Scolded us for not doing our homework, and not reading in advance. I cruised through w/ a 3.6 but had no respect for her as she didn't seem to respect the students either. You'll feel like you're in Middle school again.

i don't really like her. she starts class early, and when you walk in, at least 3 minutes before the time, she'll look at you as if you came in 30 minutes late. She is, quite frankly, very blunt and and is likely to frown at everything you say. But i have to admit, what she expects from you is very clear and she even gives out a handout at the BEGINNING of the quarter of what to expect.
I took one of those coordinated studies back in 2000, about the Holocaust. A VERY interesting and saddening course and I really enjoyed it. HOWEVER, regarding Susan, she contradicts what a writing/humanties class should be about. A class of that nature should be sensitive to the opinions of others, however she was not. If you did not write the way she wanted, you failed. If you thought differently from her, you failed. Never make the mistake of expressing opinions in your papers, she'll screw u over.
She's a hard teacher. She has this set answer in her head, and if you don't know it hen you're a failure. When you answer something in her class she'll look at you like you're stupid. Her voice is irritating. She gets extremely irritated if you're talking when she's talking. Even a damn whisper.
she sucks! thats all i can say. just read the previous comments and they were very right about her, especially the negative ones
what a b****. she was very rude and very blundt. i would never take her again. the only thing that kept me going is the fact that it was a coordinated study with tracey brigham and that part of the class was great! stay away from her classes!
She is a fairly hard teacher. about two thirds of my class have dropped out since the beginning of the quarter. You have to do like, 10 hours of community service, also-- its required. Also. you have to write three essays, and you can not use and to be or to have verbs in them.. it is difficult.

VERY HARD teacher. She should not be teaching such a low level class. Even though she was hard, I learned a lot. But still, I will never take her again.
This is a hard class. Avoid.
Vindictive and unagreeable, Good grades require seeing things exactly her way.
Susan is the type of teacher who grades you on what she wants to hear. She also seems to pick favorites and will grade you down if she doesn't like you. Her expectations are way too high and she acts as if she thinks that we have no other classes. Avoid!!!
I learned so much from this teacher. She taught me what I needed to know to succeed in other classes. There was homework, but my brother had just as much in his Writing 101 and he had to write about the Declaration of Independence - snooze. In our class everyone participated. I learned about film and the teacher's expectations made me do my best.
I had her for writ101 and hum105, she's alright.. but I don't recommend her because if you don't understand her, then you won't understand the course.
Can I say HATE HER! It's been 2 years and I still hold the same amount of anger towards her! Talk about a teacher who does not allow a stundent to have their own way of thinking, if its not the way she thinks..it's wrong! She talks down to you, treats you like a child, gives way to much home work!NEVER TAKE HER!
Its her way or the highway.
susan rich is the WORST teacher ive ever had in my entire life!!!! NEVER take her class!!!
She's a teacher that tends to Play favorites with the essays, in my opinion.
A very bad teacher. You try your hardest and you'll still fail. Please choose another teacher if you can. If you din't share her opinions, you will fail.
This class is one of the hardest class I took but you'll learn alot. I don't recommend this class for slackers though because for sure you're going to fail if you don't do any work. But other than that if you really love writing and want a challenge, I would recommend this class!
Lots of film analysis in her class. She tells you what she wants if she doesn't like how you're writing. You have to write an average of 1000 words for three essays, she lets you revise them. But this is more like a Writ 105 than 101. Take this class if you want the challenge or you're strivin become a very good writer.
Susan Rich teaches writing and film classes. She seems to add two courses into one topic. the writing class was mainly about films and writing about films. She is a tough teacher and had too many standards for beginning college level writing. NOT RECOMMENDED!
HARD teacher. She is VERY informative, and I got a lot out of her class. I was a favorite though, so I received better grades, and more help. WARNING and Im not joking, Only take this class if you want to get great and informative information while SACRIFICING an easy grade. I got a 2.8 out of this class with a 3.8 average.
Seriously, I did my best in her class but I did not get what I deserved. Her assignments were unnecessary and her extra credits never help any thing. It's a wrong decision taking her class!!!
Rich is a nice woman, but let me tell you, when teaching research and persuasive writing, she teaches you very little. She gives you a book to help you, to teach you. She gives you an assignment by handing you a rubric, and makes you do exercises in class that are mostly pointless and help very little. My advice, dont take the class, pointless.
About 35 students started out and only about 15 ended. I was one of the lucky students that was kissing her ass the entire time in order to get through but I DID learn alot. I was in writing 101 but it was as if I signed up for a film class because all you did was write about film. You'll laugh...and cry, be ready for one hell of a ride!
I take the classes I'm interested in so that I can obtain new information. I like the feeling of being thrown into something that's new to me so I loved her film study course! It introduced me to the world of art through film. It was a good amount of writing each day but nothing short of what's expected by a college student. I recommend taking it!
Rich is a not great teacher with an even worse teaching style. If you're on her good side you have a slight chance of scoring high on assignments. Teaches little and expects you to use the textbook for everything. Don't take classes from her.
Her class is not easy, but I didn't enroll in college looking for easy A's. If you want to learn a thing or two about writing a solid paper, take her class. Simply writing papers with little critical thinking will not earn you good grades in this class-Beware!
Make sure you ask her opinion of everything, because that is the basis of her grading scale.
Please do not take this class! You don't learn anything and the only way to get an A is to butt kiss the entire class. Also even if you have a snow storm and live 10 miles away you are still suppose to drive in the dangerous weather to class or you fail. Less than half my class finished the quarter with her and even less actually passed.
DO NOT TAKE THIS SUSAN RICH'S CLASS!!!! She made the whole writing class into a film class which is not what you are signing up for in a writing class. She chooses favorites and least favorites. She teaches very little and expect you to know everything...if you have a choice do not take her!!!
I learned alot this quarter, but not from Susan. I felt like i was chalenged to teach MYSELF the material. Class time was pointless, we discussed film and watched movies, I didn't sign up to take a film class, but thats pretty much what it was. DO NOT TAKE HER!
This is not an easy class. When ever the questions were construed as opinion of interpretation you basically had to interpret what she did. There is no BSing in this class. I'm debating withdrawing because I feel like she barely even teaches. Our midterm is basically what she usually does for us when reviewing a film. I do not recommend her.
You must answer opinionated questions the way she would answer them. Exactly as the last poster said... she is very unclear as to what shes looking in these answers
Susan Rich is a hard english teacher! to be honest, i did not expect eng101 to be this hard. but i learned alot from her class. More than i should have, but her teaching really prepared me for college level classes. if you want to earn your grade with hard work, take this class. if you're the kind of person who doesn't attend class everyday or proc
A nice teacher, a lot of homework, but I did learn quite a bit.
Awesome class, awesome teacher! Very inspiring. Yes it was a hard class, but only because of the amount of work required, not the subject matter. She teaches you how to learn, study, and do well in other college classes also. Show up every day and take notes. Don't overload your life, you will need much time outside of class for your homework.
This was possibly the worse english class i've taken in my whole life. This was basically a film studies class, all essays are based on film. I learned nothing about ENG except to always have a thesis. But I can give a lecture on camera angles and film techniques. This class was a huge waste of time and money :-(
I agree with the last comment, totally useless if you came to learn. Unless you want to learn about film critique and film language. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!
Beware, this class is not a "real" English class. You write essays about 3 movies that you watch in class, which is suposed to make us think deeper about the movies. On days for your thesis and peer editing workshops you have to attend class or your essay will drop like 30%. For being a 101 class i didn't learn anything from it, other than about mo
the most worst teacher i have never met.
The worst teacher at Highline! I strongly advise ESL students to stay away. You will not learn anything about English writting structure. But if your lucky one of the movies she has you watch might be in your native language. She is completely useless!
I know that most people are exaggerating a lot. So I am going to try ma best to be helpful. Her class can be very hard if you do not do the work but if you do the work it is a lot more easier. I personally was very confused on her instructions so if you feel like you don't understand something I HIGHLY SUGGEST SEEING HER AT THROUGH HER OFFICE HOURS
Never take her class. This is a freaking crazy and hard class. She drives me crazy with her assignment ALL THE TIME. English class but always watching film and respond. What the heck !!!
This teacher is one of the best when it comes to English 101. Her class is easy as long as you stay on task. Pay close attention and don't be afraid to ask questions. She's very straight forward and blunt, but in a respectful way. There's average size homework, but it's easy. This teacher is the real deal!
Really good teacher as long as you work hard and do the assigments. Only take the class if you plan on learning something. Once I talked to her one on one she became one of my favorite teachers.
This class is does not teach students â??A general introduction to the principles of writing with emphasis on the writing process, thesis, context, purpose and audience." Instead she uses strong writers to teach weak writers the techniques she is suppose to be teaching. This is a film appreciation class not an English 101 class.
Very bad teacher. Homework assignments are full of questions that require opinions or personal interpretations, and if your opinions don't match her opinions (unbeknownst to anyone but her), she'll mark you wrong. Arrogant as well and not friendly. One of the worst I've ever had at Highline. :(
There are many classes you can take instead of her class. She is not a good teacher unless you just like to work hard for nothing. Hope you guys won't waste time.
I have no idea what everybody is talking about. She is by far one of the best teachers I've ever had, she teaches a lot and is very understanding as long as you are trying. Yes, it does involve a lot of homework and her grading can be rough if you don't have the sufficient writing skills, but come on this is college! I will be taking her again.
Worst teacher I have ever had in my life. She is absolutely unwilling to help and will not answer any questions that you ask. You would have better luck learning from a dog.
I loved this class and love this teacher. YES I had to work hard for my grade, but I do not appreciate an easy A. Will definitely take her again!
Worst teacher I've ever had in my life. Period. She won't listen to you or answer your questions and she grades your papers in the stupidest way ever. She won't tell you what you did wrong and really just isn't nice in general. Take 101 from ANYONE else and you'll have a better experience in the class.
The worst teacher at highline. Arrogant, does not like to help out students. will embarrassed you in class if you asked a question " that she thinks is obvious" if your expecting to learn anything you will not! its all about film and analyzing it upon her opinion. grading scale is ridiculous!
Although the class is not easy, Susan Rich is a good instructor and provides students opportunity with extra credit assignments. If you don't want to work hard don't her class. She will work you! That is the reason we are in college right?
Worst teacher at Highline. In my opinion, she had no regard for how her comments make students feel. She made me feel stupid on several occasions for trying to clarify what she wanted. She treated the entire class like children. She gets irritate if you talk when she's talking, even if your trying to help another student. Take any other teacher.
She is not a very good teacher, not at all. She is very opinionated and in order to pass this class, you have to answer the question the exact same way she would. She is not helpful at all and if you miss just one day, she finds a way to deduct points. I would not recommend taking this class.
One of my worst teachers at highline. Would try to embarrass you in class if you ask her a question or try to make you sound dumb. Gives out essay after essay nonstop. So unless you like essays then stay away from this teacher. You can never get a perfect grade in her class, always wants more when you cant give more.
Worst teacher ever! Very blunt, rude, expects you to know everything. If you happen to give a wrong answer she looks at you stupid. Do not recommend her as a teacher.
TERRIBLE TEACHER! I got an A in the class. But many of my fellow mates got C's. It was hard... The assignments are based on opinions and your translation. If it doesnt match hers, she will grade you wrong. Ask any questions and she will make you look like a poor lad. Avoid the class mates.
Terrible. She is a very hard teacher. She is actually a english teacher that has this film class. The writings about films she expects as college writing essays. Never helped students and was never clear. The films were boring and always didnt like students correcting her.
I put more time into this class than any other time in my other classes for this professor to tell me that the way i was able to elaborate was wrong. Students would sometimes point out somethings to her, and obviously she would be rude about it because she never finds herself wrong. She sets you up for failure
Terrible teacher. Not nice or helpful at all. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HER!!!
if your opinion is not the same as hers, she will grade you down. just listen to what she says about the film and you can get good grades. but if you retort her view with own she will say your wrong. lots of writing, but movies were interesting.
I always wondered what could make a human being want to chew their own arm off. Then, I took a class from Susan Rich. Lucky for me, I can type with one hand.
This was a film appreciation class, not an English class. I was writing 5-7 pages weekly for a film. If your idea differs from hers, you will get marked down even if you answer the questions correctly. Her tests only had a few questions but they would require essay responses. She is very rude and wont allow chit chat in class even before it starts.
I'm going to keep it real. I was stuck in her class and all these reviews scared me. They are so wrong! Most of these people are on a path that won't lead to success I'm guessing. She is an excellent teacher who is SO HELPFUL! Take her class, work hard, become a great writer and more importantly a better person. I was a lazy student who got an A!
I love Creative Writing, but we do a lot of stuff, sometimes in only a short period of time. It's probably just me because I have two others classes. But man, I have more work in just this one class than my two other classes COMBINED!
Honestly she's probably the worst teacher i have ever had. This is supposed to be an introductory English class but she treats it as a film appreciation class. Her grading is extremely tough and she can be very rude at times. I highly recommend that you don't take this class with her.
Intimidating, but I learned a lot from this class. She is tough and straight forward. No sugar-coating in her class. Work hard and REVISION is very important in your grade.
The class improved my writing by a lot. It was a lot of hard work though, that caused a lot of late nights staying up to finish it all. Total of 4 essays done throughout the quarter and extra credit is given a lot.
This is a hard class. Iv'e never had to work for a good grade, this class made me work. She is very intimidating, strict, and has a little attitude. However, the course is great, you will learn a lot about what makes writing work, your writing skills will advance after the class but it is a lot of work. Good luck!!!
This woman wants you to suffer. Only class I have EVER failed.
not clear at communicating at all, be prepared for changes to assignments every time
The idea of the class is good, but in my opinion, mixing films studies and women's studies turned out a little chaotic as well as difficult to understand. Her intentions are good, but her clarity isn't the best on many of her homework assignments and/or projects. It's a hard class, but it's supposed to be. It was just lack of clarity in everything.
Not only is Professor Rich incredible at what she does, but she's also incredibly consistent, doesn't tolerate slacking, and she's also very warm and easy to talk to. If you want to breeze through a class this isn't right for you but you will learn so much, watch amazing films and with luck it will be a very engaging, wonderful, class.
The class its self is very interesting but I DO NOT recommend having Susan as a teacher. She is rude. Not helpful. Her online portion of the class is not great. Only gives you the day of to submit assignment. Doesn't give constructive criticism well at all. Overall find a different teacher.
Susan is a very strict and harsh instructor. As long as you do your work and participate, she will like you. I don't recommend her as she is very judgmental, but the films we watched were somewhat decent. She's not that great of an instructor.
Susan is incredibly rude, she leaves unnecessary comments on all assignments. Online work is pointless. Discussions start out easy and turn into reading five articles and annotating them. Grading is absurd, what is written in the syllabus is not true. intensive writing. final project is a group project
Don't take this class. If you're looking for an easy A this class isn't for you. She is not respectful, the only way she will respect you is if she likes the way you think. Don't correct her or she will go on a rampage. A lot of one way thinking. Doesn't respect your thoughts about the films. Overall. This class was like hell. Maybe worse.
She's really rude when you approach her about needing flexibility due to your schedule
She may come off rude and disrespectful but it isn't intentional. This class is based heavily on weekly assignments. Two total major exams but she makes it easy on you and drops the lower one. This is NOT a class for you if you just want an easy A out of it. You would have to work very hard to earn your grade.
The material isn't all that hard, but you pretty much have to ignore Susan, because she makes everything ten times more difficult than it needs to be. She's more interested about talking about herself and promoting her own writing/readings to us. I've never felt more disrespected as a writer or as a student. Stay away from Susan's class.
Her course materials are all over the place. There are some things on the assignment that are not clear at all. You would have to double check with her if you want the full credit for the assignment. She is unapproachable, and she can come off really rude. And you know what? She probably is. Her self promoting personality is pretty shameful, too.
It's an easy A class if you agree with everything she says. She grades strictly based on her own opinion and have several examples of such. If you disagree with anything that's "unfeminist" or simply a seperate interpretation of a movie you will get an F on your answer. She is rude and just cruel when grading your work leaving unnecessary comments.
I loved Susan, although I do understand the complaints. If you are not passionate about writing, don't take her classes. And if you are, look at her class as a challenge rather than something hard and annoying. She is super sweet, you do have to kiss her butt, but you've really got to work hard. Get ready for some late nights. *I'm a procrastinator
This is the most difficult, worst teacher i have ever taken. Do not take her class. She is very rude as well for no good reason. Lastly she gives very unclear directions and makes things way more difficult then how it really is.
She does more harm than good. Stay away from her. She's a waste of time and money. She needs to retire. It would be the one good thing she's done for her students.
Susan is an amazing teacher. I strongly recommend her. I took the DGS 160 "Women in Film" class and learned so much from it. I have a quarter left to graduate and by far has been the BEST class I have ever taken so far. She does have you do a lot of homework and her exams are hard but if you study they should be pretty doable. LEARN THE VOCABULARY.
She is not clear with the guidelines as ti what she wants with each assignment and is really rude to be quite frank. I wonder how shes so mean knowing the bad rating she has. Like you'd think she'd reconsider some life decisions.
I really loved this class and I really loved the amount of effort she asks you to put into studying the movies we watched. If you love studying and writing about film, this class is PERFECT for you. I have a feeling the people in this comment section either wanted to slack off or came ready to attack the class for being "feminist". Ignore them.
The previous comment is ridiculous. The subject matter was fine. My classmates were fine. I have no problem discussing feminism, film, or any other topics. The teacher was terrible, though. I've never met someone so arrogant yet so completely inept. Take another instructor.
I lasted in this class for less than a week because she was already demanding so much. I also hate poetry and she decided that poetry was going to be her only focus that quarter so I got out of there as fast as I could.
All I can say about this teacher is that she plays favoritism. Stay away from her, she will ruin your GPA
She was awesome!
unclear expectations, sometimes I wasn't sure she knew them....
High expectations, will want you to be more of a perfectionist. Its basically taking English 101 but at its HARDEST. Unless youre willing to dedicate your life to this class then you might as well kiss your GPA good bye! Do not take this class out of nowhere, you need to have complete interest in it. There are no shortcuts, fooling around.
I wish I dropped out sooner. This is literally all poetry. She has a horrible attitude. When talking to her she makes you feel dumb or when she speaks to you she belittles you. Actually dont take this class for real. She gives you work as if she is the only class you have. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible.
Professor has favorites which she calls on all the time in class. Canvas page is a mess and hard to understand, dates are changed to the right quarter last minute. class times are used writing poems and reading lists. Way to many out of class activities are required. Going to poetry reading, meeting with her at office,&entering poetry competitions.
randomly calls people to read their writing, canvas page filled with assignments from previous quarters&doesnt say which assignments to due and when. Each week theres a reading w/lots of questions, a writing assignment w/a reflection, textbook reading, reflection for the week, revising others work, etc. she blatantly hates almost everyone& is rude
She's terrible. I don't know how she has a job here. The difficulty rating isn't because of the work, but for how difficult it is dealing with such a scatterbrained teacher. This class is a disaster.
I loved this class! The first half of the quarter was writing poetry which terrified me because I am not a fa but it was fun. Second half was fiction writing. No test, you have to write something each week and do peer reviews with occasional assignment. I learned a lot and had fun! show up and do the work!. This has been my favorite class!
There's no way the positive or neutral reviews here are from her students. I haven't talked to anyone who was in her class who even remotely liked it. Her class is like having your soul shredded by a cheese grater. She talks about herself constantly and is so scattered that you're lucky if you get to anything real during class.
she's obviously passionate about film and feminism, but her course is poorly made. readings are usually about five years out of date, lots of broken links, assignments from past classes that are unrelated. she doesn't give clear feedback at all. writing prompts are vague and frustrating. gets irritated if you ask questions for clarification.
she was an okay teacher! She was very understanding but at times her class was just a little annoying. I wouldn't necessarily take it again but as long as you stay on top of your work and utilize your classmates comments on your writing you'll be fine!
I had this class for about 2 weeks. Each moment was terrible. My questions were either ignored or given such vague responses that it made me even more confused. Ask for clarification and you're bound to get one of the most passive comments you've ever received in your life.
At first, I didn't think the class was too difficult. Everything was manageable, easy, and fun assignments. Then suddenly the class became very messy. Her modules show readings/examples which were not posted/available. Constantly needed to ask her to upload things she references for assignments. She doesn't use her own material so nothing connects.
DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH THIS PROF. Im 100% serious. She is completely delusional when it comes to grading standards, calls you out in class, and will hate you if you have your camera off. Even if you have a correct answer, if its not the one she wants- its wrong. &this is coming from someone who got an A+. Take it from me, just stay away!
Takes the fun away from writing poetry & fiction. Very passive-aggressive with her advice & picks on people who don't have their cameras on. I understand criticism, but NOT hers. Asking a question only results with the "you should've been listening" type of attitude. Module setup is also a mess with assignments dating back from her older classes.
She gives out 3-4 assignments per week and sometimes the response sheet questions can be unclear. When I email her, sometimes her feedback is unclear and sounds passive. I wish I had taken World War 2 history instead. But it was fun learning about feminism, sexuality, culturalism, etc...
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR EXTREMELY PASSIVE & NOT HELPFUL, EXTREMLY CONFUSING & NOT HELPFUL. IF YOU'RE TAKING MORE THEN TWO CLASSES DON'T HER CLASSSES ARE A FULL A TIME JOB. SHE IS EXTREMLY CONFUSING WHEN DELIVERING INSTRUTIONS & BASICALLY TELLS STUDENTS DIFFERENT THINGS & IF YOU DO THE WORK THE WAY, SHE LIKES IT IS STILLL WRONG. SHE IS THE WORST!
Really workload heavy. There are multiple reading assignments pages long & videos to watch weekly. With 3-4 assignments & a movie a week. She is very particular about assignments. Gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Good variety of movies to watch. Zoom participation is important to her.
Worst professor ever!! We learn more about issues such as racism, feminism, etc. than we do writing a paper. Very rude in emails, if you give proof of a mistake she will not respond and delete it from module. Very unclear directions. Gives lots of work on Monday that's due Wednesday. No care for success or opinions, unfair and unclear low grades.
If I did wrong I was chastised like a dunce. If I ask a question I was given a discouraging response like ask IT maybe they can help you. And the one time I asked for clarification when she clearly wrote DROPBOX submission when she really meant the reply discussion box. Directions were all over the place. Examples not clear.
She was honestly the hardest professor I have ever had.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Unorganized and does not take into account work, life, or other classes. Week 1 had 31 videos and readings to get through to complete the homework. The workload is unreasonable unless you do nothing throughout the day. If you have any other responsibilities DO NOT TAKE HER!!!
There are hidden assignments. She will ask about chapters and their contents and they won't even be assigned or mentioned at all. Some of your assignments won't show up on your to-do list. Be sure to look thoroughly through her modules or you might miss something. Her knowledge and passion for the subject are inspiring though.
She is seriously the worst. Please save yourself the headache. I have never had a worse professor in my entire life.
Please don't, I am so serious. I took 20 credits last quarter; it was 100x less work in comparison to just her class. This week ALONE I have 3 different assignments writing 800 words each. 2 assignments on a single reading answering questions written by 2 different authors. I'm being genuine when I say my biggest regret is taking this class.
She just dropped a 1200 word essay due in 5 days. I'm taking four courses and of my 11 assignments, she's 6 of them. The other five are split between 3 classes each having 1-2 assignments per week max. She is the worst professor in the history of professors.
Language rich, author and poet, she is the only one (among the gallery of different characters that will easily fade) to remember until rest of your life. She assigned the good quality texts. You enjoy her clothes, presentations, her demands. You will participate in different events, discover your own creativity. A reciprocity of work back!
The teacher from hell. Brace yourself if you email her for clarification on her laughably contradictory requirements, because you are about to receive an extremely passive retort.
took creative writing and my teacher was changed to her from another professor. okay genuinely this teacher is so unprofessional. gets deadlines wrong and literally doesn't give enough time for us to reach out for help. don't take this teacher i am warning you
Does not provide a Rubrik and is extremely passive aggressive. Her behavior was unprofessional and not befitting of an instructor. I agree with what everyone says and that she is a teacher from my nightmares
This class is a complete joke. I don't even know where to begin. First off she ignored 4 emails in a row from me when I asked about assignment instructions since the instructions were like reading the bible upside down in Japanese and reading it backwards. Not only that she would drop 400-point essays that were due in like a week.
do not take one of her classes. I took women in film and the class was hell. it was so stressful and the work load was insane for it being an elective.
Don't take this class. First off she's very passive aggressive, gives out way too many assignments and truly doesn't care for her students success in her class.
She fails to teach a lot of the cornerstone topics of ENGL101. Lots of work, little leniency, and unhelpful both in email and office hours. She requires two textbooks, yet only used ONE of them ONCE. The content she selects for curriculum is unusual, and clearly more selected as stuff *she likes* rather than actually good content. Genuinely awful.
This was a 2 credit class which felt like full 5 credits. What I didn't like was that the tests only had a few questions (max like 10) but were worth 50pts-get one thing wrong, lose half the points. Also, I got the feeling that she isn't entirely familiar with Canvas-there were a few assignments with wrong due dates or labeled "ignore"-just delete?
Do not take her class. She doesn't go off of her own rubric but goes off of what she believes is correct. She doesn't give constructive criticism and is very passive aggressive. I would never take her class again even if it were required of me.
I would not take Susan's class again. She grades off of what she believes is the truth, not the actual truth. She doesn't teach out of a textbook, and she assigns insane amounts of homework, lots of it not relating to the subject of task at hand. I have been subjected to images and paintings of naked women's breasts in movies that were assigned.
Her teaching is very bad, and she has high expectations. I suggest not taking classes with her at all, especially online. This will give less time for the essay submission date. I hope she will read these comments and change her teaching.
Be prepared for a challenging class with a strict professor. Though passionate about the subject, they can be disorganized and unclear with assignments. Using resources like unstuck ai and the free textbook will be key to success.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! This has been the worst class I've ever taken. I only enrolled because it was the only option available, and it has been nothing but frustrating. The assignments were disorganized, and the feedback was passive-aggressive and unclear. Overall, it's been a terrible experience from start to finish.
don't take it
I was in this class for only two days and dropped out after just the first assignment. Her grading is not fair, due to her unclear instructions. She will email you back when you ask questions in a very passive aggressive tone.I would not recommend taking her at all.
her modules are so unorganized, shes a tough grader, passive aggressive and shows no compassion at all. Do not take this lady if you cannot handle tough grading. She is a english 101 teacher yet she expects us to act like a advanced writing class. the work she assigns are both long and tiring. She cannot teach and honestly she makes engl 101 hard
She's more of a critic over a teacher. She pinpoints your mistake over telling you what to do to make your work better. The school should take action with this kind of teacher. Time, money and effort wasted enrolling in her class.
This lady grades like she works at an IV league but she's just a bitter lady who'll grade you terrible because she has nothing better to do. Value your grades stress and life because she doesn't even look at your assignment and hates on it.
She would interrupt people to "correct them," even during opinion-based discussions. She said that she would drop the lowest paper, so the last one was optional. I did not do the last paper because I was tired of that class; I don't think she ever dropped it. It was my first quarter, so I'm not sure how I'll get my GPA up now...
I would say that her page was unorganized and when I would email her for help she would be very condescending towards me. The class work was difficult but it was harder because of the way she taught the material. She would publish new assignments either the day of or the day before the due date giving us no time to work on it and causing confusion.
Horrible, doesn't help you out, DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!
I found the class both interesting and informative. She really wasn't that difficult; you just have to put in the proper effort and show that you're trying. If you put in the effort, you'll get the hang of both the curriculum and her grading process. A lot of writing so definitely have taken English 101!!
