Posts all power points and study guide (info from PP) online. Don't buy book b/c she has it reserved in library! Willing to help, and holds class discussions everyday to keep you awake even in stadium. EAASY quizes. Tons of extra credit opp. Take if you want easy A or B. Nice lady
Posts all power points and study guide (info from PP) online. Don't buy book b/c she has it reserved in library! Willing to help, and holds class discussions everyday to keep you awake even in stadium. EAASY quizes. Tons of extra credit opp. Take if you want easy A or B. Nice lady
Very good teacher! Lectures come directly from slides and holds current issues discussions almost everday to keep you awake. If you study slides and read book for more clarity on concepts you should get an easy A in the class.
She's OK. Lectures are boring because she reads straight from her outline. I should have put in effort and I could of made an "A". If you study with some regularity and go to class everytime, then you'll easily get an "A".
Best Prof ever! Really got me interested in politics, holds lively discussions in class, teaches well, easy access to notes, EC opportunities and makes you understand the material with relevant examples.
NOT reccommended!! Tests cover 5 chapters at a time!! Horrible sense of humor if any at all!! Must seriously like politics to be able to get deeply involved in this class!!!!
Easy, easy class. Powerpoint notes are posted online and gives great study guides before exams. Quizzes are easy too, also she gives awesome Extra Credit opportunities. EASY A!
AWESOME professor! This is my 2nd class with her & I'm glad I took it! Gives very detailed powerpoints, test questions come from the notes! Gives super easy quizzes in class & offers several extra credit opportunities. Also holds interesting discussions about current events in class. Definately take her class, easy easy A!!!
What a good class!!! Roomberg is a great professor and she is full of knowledge. Tests are all from Power Point slides, she gives reviews, LOTS of extra credit options!!! It is impossible to not make AT LEAST a B!
BEST PROFESSOR TO DATE! Take her! You will have to come to class because she gives pop quizzes that count towards your grade - but you don't need the textbook (she posts PPTs on WebCT) and she even gives you a study guide for each test!!! On top of all of that she gives you extra credit ops! Knows what shes talking about and cares about you A++++
Attendance is not mandatory, but she does take role. A boring class, but she does give you lots of chances to get extra credit. Tests are not difficult if you do the study guide, but they do cover a lot of material. She is a good professor, I would recommend her for Intro.
Mrs. Roomsberg is a great teacher. I would recommend her. All of her powerpoints are on webct and she gives you a study guide from each test. She also gives you plenty of extra credit too. She really does a lot for her students and will help you out if you ask her.
Best teacher ive had yet. extremely helpful. easy to understand. funny. i have to admit lectures are boring but you can always find her notes on webct. includes some youtube videos to keep the class awake. test EASY. just study her notes and youll do well. i received an A and politics isnt my favorite subject. provides lots of extra credit.
Very easy to understand and her tests are pretty easy. She gives out a lot of extra credit and a study guide which was very helpful for the tests.
She talks down on her students making them feel incompetent. One can definately tell she is a part-time teacher.
Easy class. She gives extra credit, tests are easy all you need to do is study w/ the study guide that she posts! Lectures are pretty boring though. She uses power points which are great study guides...to me, she always sounds so cynical...but she's nice though...She's approachable. Easy
All of her powerpoints are on WebCT. She gives out 2 extra credit, takes attendance, and gives out quizzes on random days (super easy). Boring lectures but she knows her material well. Read your book before tests.
easy class. takes attendance and has random quizzes but theyre easy. i jus sleep thru class almost everyday n i have an a. she post powerpoints and test reviews on webct. book not needed. study powerpoints=A
She is a great prof! I'd love to take other classes she teaches. Before the class I found politics to be very boring, this class helped me at least appreciate it. Lectures can sometimes start to drag on, but she usually includes info that is very helpful for the test. Her study guides take forever to fill out, but make the test a piece of cake!
She's boring. Lectures are boring. You won't be able to take written notes because she goes too fast. you'll have to stick with the slide shows. for tests, just study a lot, finish the review, and read articles. Good thing about it is extra credit! those are gifts from heaven. She's not bad, but she's not good either. You decide!
SUPER EASY CLASS! def recommend it! doesnt take attendance, puts all notes on webCT. do the study guide/read and you dont have to go to class and youll pass (most likely with an a) there are 5 pop quiz grades you need total for the year but she gives like 10 so you can miss 5. highly recommend taking her! shes interesting and veryyy nice. easy A
Shes a nice lady but very boring. She does not go too fast, but if you did not catch something she will gladly stop and clarify. Her tests are very easy and she does everything in her power to make sure everyone has the opportunity to make a good grade. The class is an easy A if you try a little.
she is such a nice lady! suuper easy class. she posts all of her powerpoints and test reviews on webct. you have to take 5 out of 10 quizzes she gives in class, which are very easy. the tests are really easy and always gives 5 extra credit questions. i dont like politics, but i really liked her class.
If you come to most of the classes and take her pop quizes, and do the extra credit projects, you'll easily pass. If you review her slides, and review her study guide, you'll pass with an "A". I will take her course in the fall for Texas Politics. PS no comprehensive final!
Great Professor! Her lectures were clear and concise, relatively straight from the powerpoints so you dont have to come to class regularly. Test are straight from the powerpoint along with readings she provides. extra given. easy quizzes. DONT buy the book. i would DEFINITELY recommend her
if you're good at memorizing, this is the class to take.don't buy the book, you don't need it. she doesn't waste your time, always prepared, most clear and concise professor i've ever had,and is very humorous. she works for fun so it's clear she loves her job. i never went to class after i got 5 quizzes and i got an 102 in her class
I wish all my professors could have been like her. She gives a lot of extra credit and post her lecture outlines online. Not a huge fan of politics but I took her for 1013&1133 because I liked her so much. She takes attendance every once in a while but for the most part it wont affect your grade. Do the study guides before test-(and extra credit).
Tests are easy, gives out a study guide, which relays the information that is exactly on the test! No curve-balls! quizzes, but they're not bad at all. Was in a class with about 300 students, and she kept all the grades in order, very impressive. Great professor, try and take her if you can. Kinda makes me want to switch to politics...
Prof. Roomberg was awesome! Gives plenty of extra credit opportunities and has very fair grading. Study guides for the tests were great and she gave really easy pop quizzes in class (1-2 ?'s). Most of the time the questions were over the topic we covered in class that day. Take her if at all possible!
Roomberg herself is an awesome gal. She's very nice, and definitely knows her politics, but she's a very slow talker so her lectures are impossible not to daydream in. Tests are easy enough, although do not believe you won't need the book, that would be a big mistake. Lots of reading. TONS of extra credit. She really tries to help you out.
Gives ten quizzes, grades from 5. Two extra credit assingments worth ten points each. Gives a very detailed review sheet and about 8 extra credit problems on every test of about 80 problems. Her powerpoints are all online. Pretty easy class.
Knows her stuff. Tends to do current events discussion for first 20 minutes of class. If you like politics and know your stuff and attend class and pay attention, you'll do well. Gives 10 quizzes and 3 tests. Quizzes generally relate to something discussed that day, so if you pay attention, you'll get the credit.
As she claims shes an independent, she incorporates alot of her own views into her notes, she is very liberal and can be quite annoying. Class is relatively mandatory. and yet a waste of time. You will fall asleep in class guaranteed unless your a pol science major. WOULD NOT TAKE HER AGAIN.
Professor Roomberg is a all around great professor. If you have questions, comments, concerns, etc don't be afraid to talk to her. She's understanding, and if you show that you care about your grade she will too Make sure you do the study guides before the exams! It's a great review. She gives you many opportunities to do well and succeed.Take her!
I really dislike politics so I am not going to get excited about her and her class but she was ok and the tests were not too difficult. She does take attendance everyday [which i hate]. There are random pop quizzes that the only way to know the answer is to actually be paying attention in class.. so yeah.. it could be worse
She uses power points and rambles on in the beginning of class about current events. Her test are very vague and hard to comprehend. Ive talked to students that took her class in the past and they said that she is doing things completely different than how i explained my experience there was no iclicker when they had the class
If you enjoy taking 80 questions tests then this class is for you. I'm not kidding. They are all EIGHTY QUESTIONS. Class is very, very boring. I wanted to shoot myself. She talks really slow as well. I only went to class for "clicker points". Does some extra credit.. Only class I didn't get an A in.
Shes a really sweet lady. I took it in an audotorium so at times it can get boring. Attendent is not required. shes very helpful and gives a review for the long 75 question tests.her classes are video taped in case you miss you can watch it at home. I'm taking her class again next semester =)
Get your clicker go to class and do the extra credit. There is no reason not to get an A in this class. She gives you a study guide for the 80 question test. Lecture is boring but an A is an A right?
Insanely easy class, but there is attendance taken via a 'clicker', so you need to show up to about 10 classes to get full marks. Warning, class is easy but HORRIBLY boring. Proffessor talks very slowly, pauses, and rambles on about nothing. Test is off provided power points and textbook. Easy A.
Class may be easy, but she isn't willing to work with you (largely due to her huge class size). Doesn't hold regular office hours because she doesn't want to be tied down to any set times when when she could be at home with her children (inconvenient, but understandable).
I hate the class! She was so boring and monotone that it annoyed me! Her exams are difficult. I went to class everyday, studied for hours and managed to get a D in her class. If you have more than 50 i clicker pts, she only counts 50. I work full time and went to school full time so its hard. DON'T TAKE HER!
She has an interesting personality. Although she's not always good at showing it, she really cares about the students. Tests are all off the PowerPoint she has available off of Blackboard and the lectures. Real laid back class. Is really slow at grading and taking care of things. Offers extra credit and is now starting to use the i>clicker.
She is the best professor eva. She is down to earth, and is a die hard liberal. Her lessons are interesting and her exams are just right. I recommend you to read the book occasionally and read the syllabus if you want to get them extra points! She has an awesome personality and tries to blend in by saying "dude", "chick", & "howdy"!
Roomberg is a nice lady. I never paid attention in class though. I only read the textbook and did the extra credits and passed with an A because she bumped me up. I suggest that you read the textbook and do the 2 extra credits she gives, it will help A LOT. If she sees that you tried hard she will bump you in the end like she did me. Had 89.3
easy A take her
awesome take her
Awesome. If you don't take her, you will REGRET. trust me.
Attendance is mandatory. She uses iclickers. If you get 100 pts its extra credit. You have at least 2 opprotunities to get EC. DO THE STUDY GUIDES. Test are a little difficult. Print off the Powerpoints before class.
Best professor I have ever taken! She is extremely understanding and truly cares about her students. She gives extra credit opportunities, attending class is mandatory for i clicker points but the lectures are interesting and you will gain lot of knowledge
Priorities are not what you'd think of a College Professor. Unfortunately the book is not enough excitement for her so her day to day life is more "appealing" Listen closely so you can get those oh so crucial clicker points! Try not to get depressed sitting in her terribly boring class.
Some did not enjoy this professor (can come off as strict) I enjoyed her class. She is straight to the point (what is needed for the exams and what is needed to pass the course). She does current events for 15 mins everyday. Tests are 80 questions, but not impossible to pass. Extra credit can add up to 10 points to your overall grade! Take her!
I really enjoyed this Prof. The subject was difficult for me to understand before this class, but I learned a lot. It's necessary to come to class to get i-clicker points;after that, it's up to you... She gives TONS of extra credit opportunities, so take advantage of them! Also, do the Study Guides before tests...they WILL help. I'd take her again!
Her class is pretty simple. Her lectures are all posted on BB in PP form. You don't really need to take notes, theyre pretty useless. Just bring your book and highlight what she goes over in her lectures and write comments she adds in the margins. If you read, you probably won't have a problem making an A. She gives up to 35 extra credit points too
Pretty easy class. Just do the study guides and read the articles and you'll do good on tests. Study guides are easy. She requires an iClicker so you can get extra credit/attendance points. Offers two extra credit assignments that you can choose from a list. Great class overall and she is a pretty good lecturer.
This was a pretty good class. It was medium difficult for me. The extra credit and clicker was what saved me, so make sure you do it. She was really nice and helpful but a little disorganized.
I'm very interested in politics, but honestly she makes the class boring. Her lectures are rarely interesting. It was very difficult for me to pay attention in class, but luckily I have a good foundation in the subject. That being said, she's a very nice woman and very knowledgable. Just not the class for me. I wouldn't take her again.
Great professor! I loved the way she set up her powerpoints and her lectures. She may seem boring if you don't particularly like politics. Sometimes makes corny or cheesy jokes. She uses the I-Clickers for participation grades.
Thought it would be fun to use iclicker, but lectures are putting me to sleep. It's just dry material. Her tests cover almost exact statements she makes in class. Go to class, try to stay awake and with extra credit an A is easy. Also read the book and do the Test Yourself sections. Too many exams (4) including final. Lots of material is covered.
her tests are incredibly easy, just STUDY for them using her study guide. i only go to class to get enough clicker points (50). i only use my book to look up a concept on the study guide that isnt in her powerpoint. very easy i recommend her
her notes are exactly like the study guide, gives iclicker points and alot of extra credit, easy class.
Take this class it's easy. Her slide shows are helpful and you only need the book for vocabulary. There are 3 tests and the fourth is the final. She gives plenty of iclicker points and 3 or 4 opportunities for extra credit. Got an A in her class. RECOMMEND HER
Such an easy grade. Provides a study guide, her power points are online, the tests are extremely simple, and their are extra credit opportunities. Honestly, the only reason you would need to attend class is to receive the 50 mandatory iclicker points. You would be crazy not to take her class.
Her lectures may make you feel tired, but it is not difficult to succeed in her class. She's a pretty good prof. once you get past her liberal tendencies, feminist attitude, and the mandatory attendance. Gives good study guides, took the honors class with harder tests, still got an A on all of them, cares about her students, take her...
I dont know why her ratings are so low. Roomberg is a great professor. You can tell she leans left a bit, but she tries her hardest to stay unbiased. The class is boring, and she doesnt try to make it any more boring. Go to class, get the clicker points, do the extra credit, and study for tests, and its an easy A, no drama.
Professor Roomberg is great if you need to take Into to Pol. She's a moderate liberal, but if you're conservative (like myself) she'll graciously defend your views if someone rails against them. Her study guides are incredibly useful and her lectures are fairly simplistic. Show up to class though since she uses the iClicker frequently.
The class was rather simple. Yet professor Roomberg's lecturing style is so boring! After I received 50+ clicker points, I just stopped attending class altogether. We were given study guides over blackboard & all the necessary content for the exams were in our textbooks.
She is a really nice teacher. Her lecture is very simple but she always try to make it easy to understand. Her study guides are very helpful. She gives lots of extra credit points. She uses blackboard frequently and help answ hard questions from the study guides through blackboard. I recommend spending time reading the book though.
She is definitely an EXCELLENT teacher. Gets boring some days, but I guarantee you WILL learn everyday. Extremely helpful study guides. The clicker points are so easy to get. Take her. She will get you interested in politics.
excellent teacher!!!
I'm going to be honest, there were days where i didn't attend class. She wasn't the best lecturer and often got boring, but it's a politics class so i think you will find that in other classes too. Easy clicker points, offers EC, and provides helpful study guides. Easy to contact on BB and updates frequently
I loved Mrs. Roomberg! She has a snarky, sarcastic sense of humor that I really like, but I get that that's not for everybody. Super easy class, offers a lot of extra credit. Her tests are 70 questions + 5 bonus questions but its not bad. You can miss more and still do well. Actually got me very interested in politics and I hated it before!
Ms. Roomberg was one of the easiest professors i took, im a c student and i got a b in her class but if i would have just done the study guide she gives out in the beggining of class for the first test i would have gotten an A, she's very helpful however she complains ALOT but she still helps and gives out lots of extra credit
Easiest A ever... i ended with a 97. Gives a few extra credit opportunities and as long as you do the study guide there is no reason why you should fail this class. Her lectures are pretty boring though
Fairly easy class. Go to class for the bonus points, and just try to stay awake for the boring/rambling lectures. She does give a lot of help on blackboard, so read what she tells you and the tests will be easy. I barely studied for the final and got an A in the class.
I loved this class Ms.Roomberg has a sense of humor and her lectures are intriguing. The test are just like her review, and she provides extra credit. Her class is not hard to make an A in.Enough said take the class.
I loved professor Roomberg, I wish I could've taken her again this semester for POL 1133, she was so helpful and her tests weren't bad. She's a great teacher.
She leans to the left, so that might bother people. She goes off on a tangent a lot. She just reads off the PPT and talks like she's out of breath. You have to go to class in order to get 50 iClicker points. Tests aren't too hard if you do the study guide. A lot of extra credit is available. If I paid attention more, I could've got an A.
going into this class i hated politics and didnt really know anything, but as the week progressed i gained knowledge about the subject. read the book, and the stuff she posts on blackboard as well do and study the study guide you should do fine! gives lots of extra credit!
Roomberg is a fun teacher, but politics itself can get boring so class can be boring. Class will be powerpoints and she lectures over them. Gives test review and readings for tests, just do the review, study a bit, do readings, should do fine. Good professor, and gives ex.credit! ALSO must attend class, she uses iClickers for points, 10% finalgrade
Easy class. Test questions directly from book and powerpoints so do your review and reading. 10% of grade from iclicker attendance points but the number you have to reach is easy to get. Lots of extra credit for those who don't do well on the tests.
Attendance is mandatory, my biggest downfall was that the tests were incredibly long. She is obviously liberal (but never outright says it) and over all a good class. But it's definitely the epitome of a college class, to do well you need to pay attention!
Nice lady. Leans to the left but will always see the whole picture. She's funny and young-spirited and approachable. Tests are easy, straight from the reviews. Each tests includes 1 essay for 25pts/100. EC opportunities & relatively easy grading. Just fill in the reviews from the powerpoints and definitions from the textbook and make an A! (honors)
Just read your textbook and you'll make an A in the class. Her lectures are straight from the book. Incredibly boring class, I just sat there on my computer looking up things on Facebook and wikipedia. Don't listen to her on current events, she gets things mixed up a lot. Overall she's a decent professor, just really boring.
I loved Prof. Roomberg! She is very straight-forward, but also teaches with a bit of humor as well. She will not tolerate chattiness so beware! Attendance is an absolute must because she uses the iClicker every class. Note taking is highly advised. Tests were manageable plus there's Extra Credit. Great class and great prof!
Easy class. I like politics so the class was amusing to an extent. The exams were basically the reviews she gave out. The final is NOT cumulative. She does not tolerate chatting during her lecture whatsoever. Overall good professor.
The class was very helpful almost easy. But you had to read the online readings and you had to do the study guide to at least get a b on the test. To make a good grade in the class iclickers are necessary and mandatory thats how she took attendance. She would give you extra credit for a certain amount of points of Clicker points. Very Helpful!
SHE IS VERY ANNOYING AT TIMES!!! SHE RANTS ALOT, HOWEVER SHE IS VERY HELPFUL WHEN ASKED QUESTIONS. TEST ARE OK IF YOU LOOK AT THE STUDY GUIDES(ALLOWS A CHEAT SHEET). I WOULD TAKE HER AGAIN.
The definition of unorganized. Her syllabus has wrong dates that she doesn't even know about. All she does is rant and ramble, puts everyone to sleep, boring class. Hard to access because she receives a ton of emails a day. Nobody receives grades on exams or papers for entire months, no exaggeration. These past reviews aren't accurate at all.
This women is HORRIBLE she rants and raves about nothing of importance. She gives you a cheat sheet it helps. So unorganized she puts wrong dates on her syllabus and still doesn't know.I wouldn't recommend her.
She is not a great professor! She is so boring and her test are like 80 questions long. She does give extra credit and essays for you to do but overall her class is hard and confusing. Shes not a really bad professor but shes not the best. I would take her again if I failed the class, but I would not be happy about it. Make sure you READ!!!!!
Dept changed some rules this sem and she so not goes along with it. She doesn't know how to use online program that's required or have no control over new changes. Does not post grades until over a month. Exams are 80 questions long and class includes writing assignments. Even though an intro class professor, TA, SI aren't smooth with new changes.
terrible, almost failed, i am a cap student too, very stressful with her disorganization, and very depressing, i do not recommend.
If you like politics and you think you'll be excited to learn more about the government, take her. However if not, DON'T. You will either fail or almost fail. The tests are very very very conceptual. The final is not cumulative though.
she always changes the dates on the syllabus. She rants a lot as well. From my understanding a study guide is supposed to give you an overview of what to focus on for a test, but in this class, she says that what's on the study guide may or may not be on the test -.- This is not a blow off class man. Her uneasiness makes this class so challenging.
Don't listen to this comment below. This student obviously isn't normal. This class was hard dude.
Though she is highly unorganized and unclear about a lot of things, this class is not impossible. Her tests are long, but most of the questions come directly from her study guides. She also gives ample extra credit so even if you do poorly on her tests, you can still pass or even make a B. If youre looking for an easy A, do not take her.
Try your best to avoid taking this professor. You will regret for it. The instructions are confused.
My class was the test group for "My Poli Sci lab" and professor Roomberg knew nothing about the program. She was VERY unorganized and was bad at explaining assignments. She never stayed on topic.
This class was not a great class. She was very disorganized, but most of it was due from a new textbook and online system. Four tests, 3 writing assignments, and chapter quizzes. Even though this class required a lot, she still allowed you to have a cheat sheet on the test so no one should fail the class as long as you do the assignments.
Professor Roomberg is a somewhat boring professor. BUT her class IS easy. The people below me probably did not actually study. You HAVE to read the textbook in order to understand the material, her lectures just go over what the textbook says. Professor Roomberg gives ample amount of extra credit, so do that. VERY easy A! Just STUDY and READ
Chill class. Go to class, do the assigned work, and study, you'll do fine.
She's a pretty chill professor. Tests are easy if you study for them but she words the questions to make you second guess yourself. That was the only part I hated and it always tricked me. Go to class, use your clicker, and do the online homework.
IMPOSSIBLE class to fail. She does everything she can to help you pass. She was very responsive to my emails. And her SI was very helpful in learning the materiel. As long as you study, attend class, and understand the materiel, you will pass. Her lectures are boring though.
Although it's a required class she still tries her best to make the material interesting. She is very open minded to other opinions and keeps you very updated on current events. She has sooooo many extra credit oportunities that its almost impossible to fail.
YOU MUST GO TO CLASS. she is cares a lot about your grade and is super willing to help you. her lectures are BORING i could not get myself to pay attention at all. she gives you the power point before classes and a ton of extra credit
Not a bad class, just boring.
Attendance isn't mandatory if you don't care of losing 10% of your grade (75 clicker points of answering questions). Few assignments. Chapter quizzes done online. Answers questions. Tests, personally, were very tedious. You need to read the book and slides to understand. LOTS of information to take. If you can handle memorizing everything, take her
Roomberg is very monotone and sarcastic, that being said she is still an awesome professor that I would take again. Gives enormous amounts of extra credit so its technically impossible to fail.
She has boring lectures, but she is very helpful and she is an easy grader
She takes forever to actually get to the lecture and rushes when its close to test time. She was an okay professor, very sarcastic, you could pass the test with c's and maybe a b if you didnt attend class.
SUPER BORING! But she does clicker points so you can't escape her long lectures.
Good professor! Expect a lot of reading and note taking! She does post her power points on Blackboard if you missed something. She does post Clicker points and they are required to receive credit for the class so attendance is highly recommended for that purpose. Her lectures are long and a bit boring, but if you love Politics, she'd be the best!
Professor Roomberg has very long lectures but lots of extra credit. Her tests are pretty easy. Attendance is required as she has several daily iclicker questions. She requires a certain number of clicker points for full credit, and then a certain number for extra credit points. Quiz for each chapter but half are due at one time and the rest later.
Overall I thought this class was easy. Attendance is important if you want your clicker points. She posts powerpoints online and even allows a cheat sheet during exams, but I never needed to use one. Just read the book, study her powerpoints, and attend class and you can surely get an A.
Good Professor. Easy class, gives review sheets before tests and has opportunities for extra credit. Lectures are a bit boring, but the subject at hand isn't the best either. Have to show up to class to do clicker quizzes. She is flexible and will help you if you need. Went to 1 SI session it was a waste. She wants her students to pass.
Don't see why people made a big deal about hating this class. It wasn't very hard, the lectures weren't boring, and the grading wasn't rough. I only had to go to her office hours once but while I was there she was focused on my needs. Cares that you pass but wants you to take the initiative. Funny anecdotes break up the long lectures nicely.
She will ramble on current events which is nice to learn but not helpful on her 80 question tests. She does give a review which is nice, but overall she is not very clear in her teachings.
At first I thought her class was going to be tough, but it really wasn't. Her lectures are long, but they can be interesting. She gives a test review, several extra credit opportunities and bonus test questions. It's really not that hard to do well in her class. Attendance is key due to iClicker points.
First day of class, she lets you know that she will be there for you, academically or if you need to talk about something impacting your academics. She's funny, interesting, easy to listen to, and makes the material easy to relate to. I'm wishing she taught more courses. I feel like I actually come away with understanding after going to her lecture
Does iclicker point for grade of 10% of final average. Tests not too bad, only 4 tests and final is not comprehensive. 1 Q paper, a few extra credit opportunities. A review is given for every test and they really help, also can bring one sheet of paper with notes on it to the test, literally a lifesaver.
She is all over the place and has an excuse about almost everything everyday, but make sure to go to class because iclickers will be 10% of your grade. Her test aren't that bad and you get to use a cheat sheet. The only reason to buy the e-book is to get access to quizzes other than that you don't need a textbook copy.
Professor Roomberg is funny and smart. She offers a lot of extra credit opportunities to help you pass the class. She does powerpoints and study guides AND allows a cheat sheet. You have to go to class for clicker points! Her lectures can be a bit a little boring at times, but if you just read and pay attention to her lectures it's an easy A.
Be sure to attend class to get clicker points. She gives plenty of extra credit and a cheat sheet if you are struggling. If you take notes and review the PowerPoints and videos you will be fine. She does care about her students. Be sure to email her if you have any issues or visit her offfice because she will help.
Lectures are long & emphasize info that was barely on exams. You're allowed to bring a cheat sheet to exams & there are long study guides for each exam (which are your best chance at passing tests). Rambles a lot, will spend half of class talking about "current topics" rather than curriculum. Attendance is a grade so you have to suffer.
Goes off on tangents a lot. Hard to follow. Very VERY liberal, and expresses it often. Mandatory entry and exit attendance for credit. First 30 mins have nothing to do with class, just current events.
She rants about political topics a lot. I really enjoyed listing about the current events, when opening class but it can be a bit lengthy and useless information. She gives a lot of extra credit, a test review, and lets you use a cheat sheet on the test. The material is a bit difficult to understand, but she will always be there if you need help.
Gives up to 30 points extra credit added to tests from at home assignments. She has worked in the gov for 20 years, and teaches because its her passion. The negative reviews are merely people upset about the topic, NOT HER FAULT. I don't like politics and I didn't enjoy this class. But it is by no means her fault. Adds humor to every lecture.
She provides PPTs for her students to take notes on during her lectures which is very helpful considering the amount of material she covers on her test. Tests were 80 questions long but the 4th exam is your final. I'm not sure about the final, but the other exams she allowed us to have a cheat sheet with all the content from her study guides.
No matter what, don't take this class at 8:30 am. Shes so boring and you will fall asleep.
Show up to class and take notes. Do well on the quizzes. You can skim over the textbook and look for subjects passed over in class. And finally do the exam reviews. It really helps. Overall Professor Romberg is pretty chill and knows what she is talking about.
She is a horrible teacher I would never take her. Attendance is taken every class, lectures until the last minute, and rants for long periods of time. Her test are extremely hard and her lectures have nothing to do with what is on the test. Be prepared to read and struggle all semester.
Pretty good professor. Classes are extremely long and boring. Discusses current events for about half of the class time, and has TopHat points during lecture. Gives many opportunities for extra-credit. Tests are pretty tough, but she allows a one page cheat sheet, which really helps.
Her tests are ridiculously long and tedious despite the cheat sheet she allows you to have. She goes off on irrelevant tangents about current events that has nothing to do with the curriculum. Her lectures last til the very last minute of class and sometimes longer. She takes attendance using the worst app ever! Every class! Don't do it!
Her study guides are useless. Although you can use a sheet of notes on the exams, it still doesn't help since the study guides are next to worthless. She's not very approachable but gives plenty of extra credit opportunities.
I read some comments how horrible she is but i'm pretty sure she probably would be the best choice you'll have at UTSA. She gives plenty of extra credit opportunity. Her study guide is insanely long and thus the tests are too. Can use a cheat sheet but still... you have to work for it. However, again, wisest choice would be her
Mrs. Roomberg is a good teacher. Attendance is important because she uses TopHat to ask questions throughout the lecture, they're simple questions though. She is very understanding and offers a bunch of extra credit. She also lets you use a page long cheat sheet for each test and she gives you a study guide, that is the test literally the test.
Exams are about mostly her lecture notes, but also the little details and charts that are in the textbook. She sometimes tells you which charts are important and gives helpful reviews. Uses LS. Very helpful in posting her lecture slides and videos of lectures. Use TopHat for attendance. If you want an A, be prepared to keep up with the readings.
You can't just read the book in order to pass this class. There are somethings that aren't mentioned in the text that she might sneak on the test, so I would advise to not skip. Really try to read before you go to class, it helps so much. There are cheat sheets in this class, but try to write really small. Great professor, not my best subject.
Even though she declares she is independent, she leans WAAAYy left. It is a distraction for me because I would like to hear things presented evenly so I can make my own decisions. That may be unrealistic but I wish she would at least be honest about her politics so the students would at least know they are getting skewed info.
This class was peachy. Lectures suck (just a powerpoint and 20-40 minutes of discussing current events). Attendance is "mandatory" but she doesn't take attendance using tophat, just asks questions that you could answer from home. She gives reviews for the test which are really handy- do them. Its fairly easy if you read the chapters.
She gives 30 points of extra credit throughout the entire semester, which is really nice. But her test are difficult even after doing the entire review.
My class was about 300 students, so it took her a really long time to get grades posted. Getting the textbook online is mandatory. Does online quizzes every day for attendance; skipping too many will drop you a letter grade. Discusses current events every day at the beginning of class. Allows a cheat sheet for tests. Gives a lot of extra credit.
Prof Roomberg is an ok teacher. Her lectures are boring and she asks questions using tophat in order to take attendance. Her tests are really hard. 80 questions over material that is so in depth. Details are important. Recommend finding another teacher for Texas Politics
She is soooo boring. It's the toughest lecture to set through. Also it might sound nice that she give you a one sided cheat sheet for the exam but the exams are soo hard it's ridiculous. She makes them 80 Questions long in a 75 minute class time... If you take her make sure you take advantage of all the extra credit because youll need it.
Her tests were really hard and in-depth but she gave a review for each test and let us have a cheat sheet. She asked questions on TopHat for participation/attendance points which counted for extra credit, as well as giving the option of writing an essay for extra credit. The lectures aren't that exciting but the class itself isn't too hard.
I love professor Roomberg, she's a good teacher and loves to talk. You will need to read a lot to stay on top of quizzes and LS, test are manageable and you're allowed a cheat sheet. She uses top hat and theres plenty of opportunities to get extra credit. If you read there's no reason not to get an A. I would definitely recommend taking her.
She rambles on a lot during class. I don't like the way she teaches, she doesn't sound very knowledgeable. Overall I wouldn't reccomend taking this class, cause her style of teaching is very boring.
Professor Roomberg was awesome! She started off with a current event and then gave long lectures which were helpful for the exams. She also used Top Hat to take attendance. She assigned homework using McGraw Hill, but it was nothing too crazy. She allowed a whole 8.5x11 cheat sheet for the exams. Just read and you'll be fine. Take her!
Definitely one of my favorite professors. The class was common sense and when it came to tests she allowed a cheat sheet. She starts off the lectures with about 20-30 minutes of current events that relate to politics in any way and then continues on to a long and easy to comprehend lecture. Highly recommendable.
MUST ATTEND CLASS. Poll points are part of your grade and in the class all easy grades save you. If you do the work and read the information it is easy. This class was basically my high school goverment class in depth. She allows you cheat sheets for the tests, but the lectures can be dry. Those with short attention spans, not for you.
Just listen to what she has to say in class, then you can get the iClicker questions correct. If you do the inQuizitive and quizzes with her powerpoint slide notes, the practice problems in the back of the book through each chapter, you will do well on the tests. She gives extra credit & let's you have a cheat sheet. If you fail, it's on you.
Attendance is graded. She is pretty funny. Participation is a must. She gets, understandably, frustrated if the class is particularly quiet during discussion time. was weary of her at first simply because we originally had a different professor. Your grade is what you make of it. It just takes a little effort to pass.
Going to class definitely allows your grade to be better. IClicker is a big deal in her class and a certain amount can get you extra credit. Besides that she provides a lot of valuable information that potentially boosts your test grades. Read the syllabus for extra credit on tests and make cheat sheet.
Professor Roomberg was awesome. She lectures a lot and uses iClicker points to count attendance. Her exams are based on the power points and lectures. I love how she bashes Trump a lot and will call out conservatives and their morally-wrong views. TAKE HER.
I really find politics to be one of my favorite subjects, but sitting through her lectures were awfully boring. She takes content that could be interesting to some (myself included) and turns it into a extremely boring lecture. She was nice and didn't seem mean though. VERY liberal and doesn't mind expressing it.. (kind of annoying if you're not.)
Roomberg was one of the best professors I've had. She starts out with a current event and gives her opinions. If you're conservative you will get triggered lol. She takes attendance using iclicker points, assigns homework using McGraw Hill Connect, and will allow a whole sheet of paper for cheat sheet for the exams. It's a super easy class.
Greats professor just very boring. She lets you use a cheat sheet for the test which is helpful but you still need to read the book.
Roomberg was honestly one of the best professors for politics that I could have asked for. She tries to make the class interesting, and gives a lot of opportunities to bump up your grade. The class is time-consuming (with chapter quizzes and inquizitives thru the textbook), but if you try, it's pretty easy to get an A.
Professor Roomberg was the best political science professor Ive taken. I took Texas AND American politics with her. She allows you to bump up your grade with extra credit assignments and even if you just attend class. Just read and attend class and youll get an easy A! People say shes boring, but Im sorry not all classes are supposed to be fun.
To pass this class you have to go. She uses iClicker everyday and this is a large portion of your grade as well as extra credit for a certain amount of points. Tests aren't too hard you get a cheat sheet and they are multiple choice. She is clear on what she wants from you and it is not hard to pass if you meet all of the criteria she asks of you.
Good professor to take if your just trying to get the credit for the course and politics isn't your major. Although her class felt like it would never end, she was very clear on deadlines, grading, and gave chances to make up tests and quizzes. Extra credit was also provided.
4 tests, the final is not comprehensive, 1-page cheat sheet is allowed during the test. iclicker for attendance. Easy class but I got tired of her and her boring lecture quick. The HW is on InQuizitive website, to me, it's propaganda and opinion wise. I feel like I have learned nothing in this class even though I'm an A student
Tests are very long and theres a lot of info and only 4 tests (including final). Lectures are very long but goes in depth.
Roomberg is a nice professor and although you don't exactly have homework every class day you will have UTSA Quizzes and InQuizzitive Quizzes. She lectures every day and takes iClicker points for both attendance and for a grade. Her 4 exams are 75 questions long and she does not drop any of them. You have 4 opportunities for extra credit.
Attendance in this class is mandatory for points, but it should not be mandatory. Every lecture is her reading off a powerpoint outline which is available online. The only good thing is she allows cheat sheets during exams, so that makes it a little easier. Just get everything done online and off and you should do good.
Professor Roomberg is an amazing professor! She tries her best at making lectures interesting with puns relating to politics. She gives ample extra credit opportunity and allows "cheat sheet" for exams. There is no way you can fail!
She may read off of the power points very often, but she tries to make it interesting and relatable
Cheat sheets on every test, lots of extra credit, study guides given out before every test helps a lot. Mandatory attendance so don't skip class. Boring lecturer. Easy A.
Professor Roomberg's class is an easy A if you can spare a few cares. While her lectures are average, pay attention because her tests are 75 questions MC and she gives you everything you need to know. In addition, if you have questions or an issue with grades, she responds to her emails quickly and does actually care that her students succeed.
Roomberg is an amazing prof. she tries her best to make the lectures interesting. she uses Iclicker EVERDAY for attendance/points. she's very clear on what she wants from her students. Just show up, do the online quizzes, pay attention in lectures and its an Easy A. Very sweet lady!
The class itself is fair and passable but the lectures are just boring. Prof Romberg gets sidetracked fairly easy and often goes on tangents that last a good chunk of class which, takes away from class time. Shes a decent professor though.
Prof. Roomberg really cares about her students passing her class. She gives many opportunities for extra credit. What I also like about her is that she has a lot of quizzes to do (that you can find on quizlet) which just helps you out in the class if you don't do great on the tests. I would definitely recommend her!
You have to teach yourself. She goes off on tangents all the time. She uses the iclicker religiously and no laptops allowed.
Ill start by saying Roomberg is a nice professor and does attempt to put effort in lecture. Despite the effort, lectures are often her droning on while making awkward jokes, and constantly goes off on tangents. She also doesnt allow laptops, which was annoying because I take all my notes on it. Class is easy though.
The hardest part of this class is long lectures. She will flex her previous occupations on you the whole semester. Study the study guide you'll be good.
Professor Roomberg is a great, caring professor. Sure, her lectures can get boring, but she still provides lots of information within those lectures. She provides lots of extra credit opportunities and provides study guides for the exams. Attendance is mandatory if you want to receive full credit through the iClicker quizzes.
Her lectures are boring and she just reads off the slides, but overall shes an okay teacher lots of extra credit, study for the tests youre allowed a cheat sheet but still go over the stuff it will help! i recommend downloading a game on your phone that requires minimum effort so you wont be bored but still can hear the lectures lol
Professor Roomberg is very knowledgeable about politics and often tells of her experience working for state or local government. Her lectures can get long and boring so personally I just sit on my phone while still listening to her speak. Lot's of EC opportunities and easy tests, also gives a cheat sheet for each test. Easy A if you do EC.
Professor Roombergs class offers lots of extra credit and the tests are all very easy. Her lectures however are long and can drag on from time to time.
Professor Roombergs class is the easiest A ever. If you show up to class and do the iClicker questions, and amount 130 points, you get 5 extra credit points and she also offers EC video assignment and an essay you can write. The tests are simple but if you miss one you can take a makeup essay test which is just as easy you just have to be specific
Other than the tests it's okay
Take her if you can!! Her lectures are dry but still show up because she does iClicker for part of the grade. You're allowed a cheat sheet on every test and she offers lots of extra credit. She posts videos of her lectures online and all the powerpoints. Again, her lectures are hard to get through some days but she is a great professor!!
As long as you go to class a decent amount & pay attention when you do, youll be fine. She gives tons of extra credit & will boost your grade at the end of the semester if she sees youve made an effort to improve your grade. Overall pretty good Professor.
She's pretty great and gives a lot of extra credit options. Lets you use cheat sheets for tests.
Her lectures tend to be a little monotone and sometimes off topic but its a very simple credit class. She gives you a cheat sheet to use for each exam, uses iClicker for a grade every class, and gives a LOT of extra credit opportunities. If you put in the smallest amount of effort you'll get a high C at the lowest. Fairly easy class.
She's gonna be your best bet for any of the Political Science classes. Her lectures are pretty boring and she kinda goes off on tangents so find yourself staring off into space a lot of the time. Other than that its pretty straight forward. Lets you have a cheat sheet so for sure a big plus! Gives very detailed reviews.
Lectures are pretty boring but easy to follow along and are posted on blackboard. For exams, she lets us use a cheat sheet and its really helpful. Extra credit, a ton of it and really easy. She is very helpful even if its not for her class, she helped me with POL1013.
I just really didnt like her as a person. Its a pretty good class but doesnt deserve all the love that she gets.
Even though I am a history major, I have always hated politics. Mrs. Roomberg actually made it simple to understand and as long as you take notes and pay attention to what she says you'll be fine. She allows cheat sheets on exams and exams are only what you go over before them. She's easy and can be funny at times.
She does iclicker attendance for a grade so make sure you attend her lectures even though they are boring. Does 30 minutes of current events talk in the beginning of every lecture so class really doesn't start til later. BIGGEST CON: she hates laptops, won't let you use them for notes unless you have a good reason, you have to get "approved" to use
Lectures are long and boring. She uses iclicker. I almost never read the textbook, just studied the slides. Gives a lengthy review before each exam, open it in a google doc and invite the whole class to work on it, if everyone does a question the whole thing will be answered, transfer to cheat sheet and just study that and you'll make at least a B.
Professor Roomberg is very understanding she works with each student the best she can. Lots of extra credit is provided. Provides a review before each test. Allows you to use a cheat sheet. You do have homework and video quizzes but they are easy. She uses iclicker for attendance. Lectures can get boring but I am not a big politics person.
I really like how she curved all our exams and our homework assignments are easy As that boost your overall average. Powerpoint lectures were so boring and dragging, but I hate politics in general. She does a lot of extra credit so that helped a lot in my exam grades.
30 min current events before starting lectures. She gets off topic and rambles about things. Lectures are very long and boring, laptops not allowed. Online quizzes/video quizzes are easy. Lots of extra credit! Iclicker is required and is easy extra credit if you exceed 130 points+ (100 required points for quizzes and attendance grades).
Literally one of the best professors at UTSA. You will learn a lot if you listen to her life examples. Quizlet helps a lot with studying and as well as writing down the lecture slides. DO ALL OF THE EXTRA CREDITS it helps a lot.
if you could take her online, do it!!! Tests are hard, STUDY!!!
Be ready to take A LOT of notes. Roomberg goes through a 70 slide powerpoint in one lecture, and you have to be quick when taking notes and she does not allow laptops, so your wrists will be hurting by the end of the lecture. And the tests are difficult, 70 questions with 10 extra credit questions. Although she does allow a cheat sheet.
Gives you a cheat sheet you can write anything on to bring to exams. Exams are hard because lectures are so boring it's hard to retain info, but there's extra credit questions too. Also ec assignments that boost your grade a ton. Iclicker every day. Easily gets off task, rambles for 20 min at the start of every class. Really wants you to vote.
She is a really tough grader at times and is very monotoned. Do not like her lectures at all. However she does give extra credit which is always nice.
she is honestly really sweet and wants you to pass, offers a lot of extra credit, her lectures are pretty long though. So, if you take her prepare for 2 hour long lectures and 50 pages of notes!!
Her lectures are really long, and her exams too but she is honestly the best! She is so understanding if you just talk to her. She changed deadlines many times to help her students pass. Also, gives a lot of extra credit, like A LOT. Take her!!!
Ms. Roomberg is the sweetest!! This class is super easy and shes easily accessible if you ever have any questions. Theres only 3 assignments for each module that are easy As.
Professor Roomberg was good. She has long lectures, but they will help with tests and exams. Gives extra credit opportunities and is a very sweet woman. I enjoyed her class.
Textbook required for quizzes. A total of 3 quizzes over each chapter, but helps you understand the information well. Long lectures, but she is very easy going and kind. Provided at least 4 extra credit opportunities and was very generous with extensions. As long as you keep up with the work, you should get an easy A.
Professor Roomberg had quite a bit of difficulties sharing information clearly from the beginning of the semester, and it never really improved... I understand that life can become hectic, especially with the way the world has been recently, but with some unmoving deadlines and multiple miss communications, it can be hard to stay understanding.
Exams did not match up to tests. I didn't study at all, and didn't take any lecture videos until 1 week before the exam. Disregarding my lack of participation, she helped me out so much, even though I never communicated with her. She added extra credit I never completed, and genuinely, she helped me pass. I really appreciate her.
This class is by far my favorite, Mrs. Roomberg is a very nice teacher that makes class something to look forward to rather than something to dread. The work isn't bad, the smartbook is just time consuming, but other than that this is an absolutely wonderful class.
Terrible professor! Spends the first 30-45 min of class every day giving her opinion on issues no one wants to hear about. She repeats her opinion on issues that she has already gone over. Tells us all to get vaccinated in almost every class. No one wants to hear your opinion! Especially not every sing day!!!
i love this woman so much she talks abt current events in a neutral way. my mom away from home. all of the hw can be done in 1-3 days, lectures are fun and chill :)
Professor Roomberg is a decent choice for texas politics. the content is very easy, there are hw assignments and tests which are all online meaning it's not difficult to get an A if you put in the effort. Her lectures are long and a little monotonous at times but she has lots of extra credit opportunities.
The class is super easy and the majority of your learning is based off of the textbook. Space your hw out and hold yourself accountable and you will get an A. During every class, 30 minutes is wasted discussing content not on the test. Also, the professor is quite slow at emails and errors with the tests/hw being posted will be frequent.
Susan is an amazing teacher. She loves going over current events with us and is always respectful when voicing her opinion. She gives extra credit for every unit test and her grades are straight from the textbook link, which is amazingly easy. She does iClicker points, which help a lot, so pay attention to the slides. The hw is long, but is helpful
Although attendance is not mandatory, iClicker points are required which can only be obtained in class. Mrs. Roomberg is a really sweet woman who tries to make her lectures as entertaining as she can, the more class participation the better! No final, only 4 tests, 14 EASY quizzes, and 14 reading McGraw assignments. Plenty extra credit available.
Professor Roomberg is a great choice if you have to take Texas Politics. Her lectures are entertaining and the content is very easy to follow along to. She is a very kind and genuine person and is incredibly understanding of late tests/missed iClicker points if you email her. Tests and quizzes are all online. I had a lot of fun being in her class.
Professor Roomberg is overall a good professor with an easy course. She is caring and is flexible. Her course is lecture heavy and class can be a bit boring. There are lots of extra credit opportunities and assignments are relatively easy. If you have a heavy course load, I recommend taking her class to get the credit you need.
She is acting profesor but she doesnt really go over the course it was mostly current events. I would say if your consistent with your work and you up to date and know how to study and learn the lecture on your own you should be fine but otherwise shes alright. Just is work consistent.
Not always on track in lecture, so the chapters arent always completely covered. Still grades us on the missed chapters in the tests. Extra credit is pretty easy- gives it for lots of participation and knowing the syllabus.
Prof. Roomberg was really knowledgeable on her material & respectful of all political views. I believe she identifies most closely with progressivists if anyone was wondering. Attendance isn't mandatory, but there is a lecture every day & the first 30 min (or more) of the class is reserved for discussion of current events. Tests are all online.
Take Susan! Shes the best <3
Professor Roomberg is very sweet and she wants you to pass. As long as you participate she will round you up if needed! She also offers a lot of extra credit including a paper and easy bonus for each test. I had to read and take a lot of notes in the book because her tests are super text specific. Overall very sweet lady. Would take again!
Exams were kind of hard (75 questions). You have to study and take notes if you want to pass the exams. She is a fair grader and really tries to help if you are struggling. She also gave a lot of opportunities for extra credit. Overall it wasn't a bad class.
The class was a super easy A so if you're just in it for the credit then this is probably a good professor for you. That being said, if you care about learning the course material then choose another professor. The teacher rambled about tangential things frequently (this absolutely killed the current events talks) and I learned virtually nothing.
Great class, and really enjoyed it. First in person class since Freshman year and it was great. Make sure to listen in class, do the extra credit, and pay attention to your grades.
Honestly, Im teaching myself in this class. Her lectures are very scattered and I feel like I dont learn anything. I kind of just sit and wait for it to be over. If you need an easy class and need this credit, go ahead but if your invested in learning politics I suggest another professor.
Very laid back teacher, and honestly most people took her leniency for granted. Although her lectures are excruciatingly boring, I don't blame her but blame the subject. Such an easy A, and honestly I'm concerned for people who didn't at least get a B because this class takes 2 brain cells. Her tests are online which is my favorite part.
Definitely recommend Professor Roomberg. I took her for Texas Politics. Her lectures are easy and a lot of information is provided and accessible. She starts class by opening a discussion about current events which aren't always related to the topic of class but are definitely useful in its own way. Pay attention and do quizzes and you'll get an A.
Her lectures can be dry unfortunately but if you read, do the chapter questions and quizzes, and do her unit reviews you will do fine. Her unit tests are all online and she offers multiple e.c. opportunities that can be turned in during the semester. She is nice and understanding so if you communicate, participate and attend you will do fine.
I will probably need 2 reviews for this one because it was that bad. Professor is not very knowledgable in her subject. I had to buy extra materials to supplement for the inaccuracies that she taught. Its also one thing to be incorrect on a topic, and another to get angry and throw tantrums when you're corrected on it which she did often. Tbc...
Continued. She writes her own tests, answer choices are often wrong. Even if you present evidence that they're wrong she won't change it. I stopped attending class in week 3 becuase I couldn't do it anymore and taught myself out of the book. She doesn't take the subject seriously, and often comments that you're all just there for a GOV credit.
Professor Roombergs Texas politics class was not difficult, but the work was tedious considering how much you need the textbook to do assignments. From my experience, she was a kind, patient, and understanding person. As long as you do what you are supposed to you will pass this class!
Quite literally the most boring class I have ever sat through. Frequently gets off topic and often rants for the first half of the class. Very long tests. Feel like im teaching myself in the class. Wouldnt recommend.
One of the most boring and useless classes. VERY lecture heavy, gets off topic super easily, has technology issues that can take a majority of the class (she forgets passwords a lot), and doesn't prepare students enough for the tests. You will mainly teach yourself in this class with the expensive textbook that is required. I don't recommend her.
Professor Roomberg is amazing. She often gets off topic but her lectures are very helpful. I recommend taking a longer class period because she rambles often. She offers 25+ points of extra credit in the class. She is very understanding and tries to accommodate everyone. She makes her own tests and they're easy. Very pleased with her class.
The class with her is easy but it will not benefit you a lot. She has good presentations for her lectures but she often gets off-topic and takes a lot of time to start going over the actual lecture material (only on 25-35 minute of 75 minute lecture). You have to read the LONGEST textbook and must do the LONGEST tests in your life.
Her lectures leave something to be desired but after a couple weeks I got used to it. I work on homework in class, finishing it most of the time, and listen for iclicker questions. She's not gonna leave you star stuck but she won't make you hate the class either. She uses full allotted time for class. There's extra credit for almost everything.
Good lecturer although can go on opinionated rants and it gets old. She has a very monotone voice, and it's exhausting to listen to her. She's very nice and caring though and gives good lectures that prepare you for the tests granted, if you just read the textbook and did the SmartBook work, you'd do just fine on the tests.
In class is very boring, very dragging the lecture. But online do what you need to do in the smart book and test. unproctored and it was very easy
Current event discussions are one-sided. Slides have good info but delivery along with inputs about abortion and immigration issues detract from the material. If personal opinions and the lecture did not have excessive pauses between words it would make it easier to understand or even care. Easy class to pass with an A as long as you put in effort.
Her class was so boring, she talks slowly and all the slides are on blackboard so you don't even really need to go. All the work is online through the textbook and tests are on blackboard. Attendance counts towards ur grade, and if you get enough iclicker points you get extra cred, and theres an extra cred paper. she is very caring but very boring
This class is great to take to get a required credit out of the way, but it is not as ideal if you are wanting to learn the content. All assignments are unproctored online with infinite attempts, and all quizzes and tests are unproctored and online. The lectures can be monotone, repetitive and often off topic, as they are done by slide shows.
Dr. Roomberg was very unorganized, so it was hard to keep up. She also rambles a lot in class, so if often feels like you have to teach yourself the material. The subject is not too hard, but it does require some studying and reading. She also asks a lot for homework!
I loved taking Texas Politics with Professor Roomberg! She is a sweet professor who is passionate about the material!
I think I'd rather poke my eyes out with sticks than attend another one of her lectures, but funnily enough I'd still take her again. Most of the class is online and you have weeks to complete them. Exams are online and easy if you have her lecture PowerPoint open on the side (ctrl + f is your friend), attendance is only 10% and lots of EC. Easy A.
Uses McGraw Hill meaning weekly homework assignments and quizzes which will take a few hours out of your week. Lectures are boring but informational, likes to start class off with a discussion about a real life political situation. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY, she uses iClicker which is a solid percent of your grade. Tests are online and she gives EQ.
This class was so unorganized. She starts off the day complaining about her computer issues and then moves on to a 40 min open class dialogue about current events that only leaves us with about 30 mins for the actual lecture. The tests and web assign quizzes are extra-long and usually will take longer than 90 mins. iclicker is also mandatory
At the beginning the class was unorganized bc of computer issues every single day, but after a while the class was pretty easy bc it looked like an online class bc the tests were online. She uses McGraw Hill, which I hated it bc they were so long, but aside from that I recommend taking her if you're required to take this class for your major.
If you take her, go to class for the iClicker points. She gives up to five points extra credit after every test AND you write a paper for extra credit points. Sometimes you will doze off in her lectures but try not to as she mentions things in lectures that are on the test. Roomberg does care about her students and their grades.
Very good at explaining the subject matter and even correlating unit assignments to real-world applications. Her current events discussions are always interesting.
Probably the easiest professor to take for Texas Politics, gives a lot of extra credit, all assignments are online, iClicker points (which count for 10%). The deadlines for all assignments are spaced out, and there's extra credit questions (which are really easy) on every test. Tries her best to make everyone pass. Easy A.
Driest person I've ever met. My other teachers talk at us, but she TALKS at you. Least engaging class I have and everyone I know was so glad she cancelled class. The textbook is super long and then not only do you have to do quizzes for it, you also have to do over 100 questions along with the reading.
Susan is good professor. Lectures start with class interaction talking about current events. Then a long monotone lecture, kind of hard to keep interest. Some of my classes took attendence for extra points, but most werent. All assignment are on the online McGraw Hill textbook, you will have to but it. Test are ~70 Qs and online. Easy overall.
This Professor makes lectures interesting by explaining more in-depth what she is talking about by giving examples. Very laid back not a lot of work. Gives extra credit and iclicker points on assignments.
There are 6 assignments and a test per month. It's not easy. Attendance is technically mandatory. She does "iClicker" points that are 10% of your grade which is kind of annoying. She starts class by discussing current events. She is nice and offers extra credit. A dictionary definition of a professor. Don't procrastinate.
One thing she said on the first day of class was "I will try to make this class as easy for you as possible". She doesn't take attendance, but does iClicker, her homeworks take from 1-2hrs but there's only 1 per chapter as well as quizzes, and her unit tests are 75 questions, which for some it's hard to find the answers. However, you can easily pass
Attendance was mandatory and was checked through iClicker...for less than half the semester (I want a refund btw). Lots of assignments which count for a large portion of the grade. Kind and understanding professor and will do what she can to help you. Class content was heavy but if you do the assignments, you should get a good understanding of it.
Cool professor. The material was easy to comprehend and over all an easy high grade class. You can only get a straight letter grade for this course ( nor pulse or minuses) and you have to get a high 90 for an A which was my downfall. She loves to talk and its obvious she loves her job. We need more professors like Mrs. Roomberg.
She's nice and knowledgeable. Take extensive notes.
Very time-consuming homework. Attendance was mandatory since she used iClicker for participation questions. She starts each class out with "current events" talk, which took a lot of time away from the actual lecture. Her voice is very monotone and she has a big problem with people "rustling" to leave before class ends.
Attendance is mandatory in this class. she uses iclicker for attendance, and just checking into the class isn't enough. Lectures help but most of the work is done through mcgraw hill and can honestly all be done without going to class. Professor herself isn't bad, she's nice and does good lectures.
She has iclicker. Kinda shows up like 10 min late every time lol. we also use achieve for assignments. tests are online.
She showed up late a lot, lmao. There are a few Iclicker questions in class a day. Exams and quizzes are all online through Canvas.
Really nice individual and respects students
Mcgraw Hill homework assignments. Iclicker, it's important it will be your final exam grade so attend class. Exams are easy they are online and you can use your notes. The study guides are long but really help. The lectures are pretty slow, in the beginning of class you discuss current events that's usually a little interesting.
Completely awful and annoying. Takes the first 30 minutes of each class to talk about random stuff that doesn't even pertain to the class at all sometimes. Changes the grading weight on a whim and blames you for her lack of knowledge about the learning software grading and submitting. Only take if you like the mundaneness of a high school class.
At the beginning of lectures, she talks about any topic that a student is interested in as long as they can tie it to government. However, her lectures are long & can be boring. Assignments are due every weekend which is a a chapter of the book and a quiz at the end. The tests are online, are open for like two days, and you can use your notes.
Eh... She was okay. Doesn't do +/- grades, only A,B, or C. Her lectures were boring, most of the class time was her going on and on about a topic that she deemed "relevant news", read straight from slides, used iClicker for attendance points, and all assignments were McGraw Hill online textbook readings. Mehh
Honestly, there wasn't too much wrong with her except she was just soooooo boring. I have a long attention span and enjoy politics but this class was torture. She's very experienced, though.
Professor Roomberg's lectures aren't the most exciting, but overall her class is enjoyable. Not a whole lot of homework and easy to reach outside of class. She uses iClicker for attendance.
Extremely boring lectures. Starts them off with talking about current events and connecting it to the government which will take up HALF of class time. Uses iClicker for attendence. Super long and tedious McGrawHill assignments.
Mrs.Roomberg is very kind and accommodating to students who are sick or injured as long as you have a doctor's note, she uploads slides for lectures and it's easy to follow along. It might be a pretty monotone lecture but to most people TX politics isn't that exciting anyways so it's the type of boredom you expect. A LOT of McGraw Hill assignments.
She is a good professor, she does tend to talk alot, but stay attentive, cause she does iClickers!
I do not recommend this professor at all. She has a "fed up" attitude since the beginning. She knows no one cares because the course is a graduation requirement so she does not care as well. You have to purchase iClicker and McGraw Hill. Boring lectures. Love yourself and avoid this course if you don't want to waste your time and money.
Professor Roomberg is extremely knowledgeable in her field, and that is almost a problem. Her class discussions tend to go off topic and the class stops listening to her. Assignments aren't hard, just long and tedious. Additionally, lecture can drag on a bit when she gets off topic. However, she is extremely lenient if you find yourself in trouble.
THE MVP for this course. REGISTER FOR HER CLASS! Easiest pass ever, would've gotten an A if I went to class. Minimum effort and passed. Exams are easy, always online. Attendance is mandatory with iClicker Remote or App. Does accept late work/exams. Online attendance is possible (just ask). Must purchase book for assignments. ImpossibleToFail
I found her class easy. I can understand why some people say it was difficult, but in reality, it just comes down to paying attention and reading the chapters.
People are def being dramatic, shes sweet and she knows about politics. HW is all mcgraw hill. but its easy to pass the class. Iclicker is a thing she uses but all it is is just getting a certain amount of point the end of the semester. shes cool and from what ive seen WAY better than the other professors who teach the course!
Professor Roomberg has genuinely been one of the very few teachers or professors I have ever had that recognizes her mistakes and changes her teaching method when she notices that scores are overall low. She wants her kids to pass and I respect that. It is a lot of reading and notes, but it is overall not too bad.
She's a sweet professor. If you take notes in class you'll do great. She uses iclicker through out the class & attendance is mandatory. She uses McGrawn Hill but if it's 3 different homeworkw she'll give you 3 weeks to get it done. There's around 60-100 questions on the homework but fairly simple. On tests she allows the study guide she provides.
Super caring and respectful professor. Sometimes her lectures get a bit boring, but that's just because politics is boring. She knows the content well and is super passionate about the subject. She doesn't do well with technology though.
She is super lenient if you communicate with her, however, she takes half the class time to go on about things that don't pertain to the class, and she talks way too fast. She does give you plenty of time to do homework and she gives you study guides for the tests.
90% of my issues is that she does not know how to work canvas at all. She cannot enter grades in she doesn't know how assignments work. Every week she would announce something going wrong on canvas and she cannot fix it. She is on the older side so she also tends to ramble about nothing.
She's super sweet and knowledgeable about the material. Easy online tests about once a month over the chapters and online homework through McGraw Hill. The attendance requirement is iffy, she does iClicker points in class but she gives extra credit like crazy to make up a few missed classes.
Very boring lectures, the first 30+ minutes are used on current events which do not relate to class. The lectures are very dull and unengaging. The vast majority of the Material is done through the textbook. Mandatory I-clicker questions. The textbook is also very long to be ready for long notes. Would not recommend.
Professor Roomberg is consistently late to class in the morning. Attendance is tracked by iClicker questions. She spends nearly half the class time discussing current events or other topics before getting to the lecture, rushing the material, but tests are very in depth. Grades in a way not compatible with Canvas, grades must be calculated yourself
Nothing is taught, extremely drab. Read off the slides. Slides are just the readings, word for word. McGraw-Hill concept tests with 80 questions for each chapter. Then quizzes for each chapter after that. Major tests every two or so units. Learned nothing from this class, just control F the textbook to pass. Can't skip class because of iClicker.
Professor seems very burnt out. Lectures are read off the slides. Uses McGraw Hill textbooks and exams. Not particularly difficult exams but subject material is dense and uninteresting. Professor uses iClicker to track attendance. Good teacher for an easy grade. If you want to learn something, try another course.
She would take a good chunk of the beginning of class for current events. She also never used a microphone for the in person class to hear only for the zoom. She had some back issue at about week 5 and canceled class altogether only to find someone to take over but he just is reading off the slides and not saying much else.
Roomberg class is so easy, just do your work an you'll have an A. Understanding Professor. Lectures are a little boring but oh well.
She was pretty cool, she was totally exhausted during a lot of our lectures but hey, I get it. She's easy to talk to after lectures as well, but know what you're saying on the spot, trust me. The book was from McGraw-Hill and it's boring as heck, but just grind it all and you should be fine!
Nice professor, but I don't like her teaching style. Lectures aren't very entertaining. Easy to forget a lot of what she says because it gets boring (sorry!). As long as you do your work, easy A. Good prof if you're just trying to get credit. Offers extra credit as well (5 per exam).
She kinda died halfway through my semester (she got sick) but she was your usual boring freshman required lecture. I did like the fact that ALL tests were open note and you could work with others on them. otherwise so happy im done with that class
Professor Roomberg is a great professor. Her class is pretty easy, and her lectures are pretty informative and entertaining. She is a very nice lady, and I have a lot of respect for her. You can tell that she really just wants the best for her students and wants them to truly succeed. I would definitely have her as my professor again.
So, shes a very lecture heavy teacher, she will go very in depth with the slides. However she did cancel class a few time with little warning so be sure to check canvas not outlook. Test are easy and she used McGraw Hill connect. Assignment are due in lumps so don't procrastinate! IClicker problems in large classes are common.
Lectures could get boring but Texas politics is also boring. She's very caring was a nice professor. She does use Mcgraw Hill for homework/quizzes but it's nothing crazy, just have your notes ready and you'll be fine.
hate mcgraw hill, too lecture heavy and shes rude, she will yell at you in the middle of class for talking even if youre just whispering. if she sees ur lips move she will yell at u
Extremely easy course. All of the assignments were conducted online including the 4 exams throughout the semester. Unfortunately, she had to take leave halfway through the semester and was replaced by a couple different professors. Attendance is required via the iClicker app. She provides a ton of opportunities for extra credit as well.
Lectures are boring, was never reachable throughout the entire semester by email or canvas, would yell at students for whispering and would yell at you if class didn't respond to question.
Fine class overall, nothing special about it. Lectures are just slideshow readings with some extra information added. Tests, HW, and quizzes are done outside of class, so time management is crucial. Tests are quite easy and you can use your study guide on them (though the study guides take forever). iClicker is used. Lots of extra credit offered.
She takes attendance through the iclicker app so you have to show up but if you get a lot of the iclicker questions right you can get extra credit from it. There is McGraw hill for this class and it's a lot, but if you space things out then it's not too bad. She gives a lot of opportunities for you to earn extra credit.
