The class is interesting, even though it's only a GE class. The only problem I have with her is that she makes a big deal about people leaving her class early. She would sometimes stop her lecture to ask where that person is going. Overall, nice lady.
She sucked. Makes a big deal about little things. Teaches a GE theme as though you've studied anthropology for years. Not very difficult, but I just didn't like her at all.
She is a good teahcer and her class was interesting but she did freak me out the first day when she came in with a bad attitude but the next the she came with food, I love food.
she is nice. but she very concerted about the student who comes late. she will lock the door 5 minutes after beginning time on the schedule. you could not get in untill she allowed. anyways, her class is interesting. and she let us make up some questions, from which she pick some to be final exam and she posted them online. that is NICE, isn't it?
Man this teacher sucks Bad! Very rude, VERY VERY Unapproachable! She makes her class very tense and un-enjoyable! I don't know how anyone could enjoy her class, and what all those enjoyable class comments, she makes everything tense and un-enjoyable!
This class is not easy. The fact that i took it during the evening and its a 4 hr class. She can lecture very well but the subject she wants us to know for the test is to much. The requirements for the paper she wants you to write is very difficult.

Crazy...regarldess of her teaching abilities, it is hard to get passed her late policy. If you come in late she makes you leave and yells that you are disrupting the class. By her yelling, she is disrupting the class. OH! And we are paying to take the class, we can be late if we want! Psycho!
Intimidating the first day but a very nice lady on day 2!! She always brought us food and drinks.. Gets a lil upset about people walking into class late but tardiness pisses me off too!!.. Easy class.. Would recommend

I thought she was a VERY fair teacher and that you can do well if you make effort. She's very funny and in our large lecture (more than 100 students) she was able to get students to discuss lots of things in class.
This teacher was very difficult to understand. She always lectures her material as if we understood what she said. She does not write notes...just some letters on the board..which makes it very difficult to understabd her lectures. And she is a very unfair in grading so be careful.
Everybody should be warned that besides getting all nazi-status about tardiness, she carries it over into grading. I had an A in the class, but I was 5 min late to the final (car problems, seriously) and she penalized me by lowering my grade to a B! Very unreasonable, and hypocritical (she missed 3 classes herself, while we had to watch videos).
what a **** you made me feel like crap and like you freaking gave me pity grade!
there musta ben 200 students in our class but she knew mosta us by name! I was amazed:) I thought it was a fun class. Lots of class discussion for a large lecture
I liked going to the zoo for the zoo report. I liked that the professor will read a draft of your paper. That helped me a lot. Her lectures are clear. She repeats definitions. Great class.
i hate this lady, and i am in her class right now!!!!!
Lectures are clear. Repeats defnitions. She brings in fossils. Exams are from reading and lecture. Not hard but ya gotta study. Nice person. Gave us a snack during exam.
Professor Saul is a very nice person. She really cares about her students and I enjoy her lectures.
I really enjoyed this class. It was very informative. Dr. Saul really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. If you need to take any NSS classes, take it with her. She does not make you buy those useless books that other NSS teachers require.
Susan Saul was a great professor, and i definitely recommend her to every student.
Dr. Saul is so terrific-extremely passionate about Anth. Her lectures are to the point and exciting.Always willing to help you-letting you know what's significant, explaining everything clearly, offering extra credits and fair grading. I felt comfortable in her class though English is my second language.Great and enjoyable class unless you are lazy.Th
She is information, extremely funny, helpful and a really nice lady. I enjoyed the class immensely & I’m a business mgt major. I particularly enjoyed the zoo project to observe various primates & the extra credit assignment to the Gibbon Ctr. You do have to study your lecture notes & the textbook pgs she outlines for the test to do well.
Dr. Saul is so nice, cool and extremely intelligent! Her class is always the most exciting class ever but always keeps you busy. If you keep up you'll be fine. You'll learn a lot and will be built good studying habits and she won't let you sink-she'll help you the way. I'm a new transfer student and thanks for giving me feedbacks on the term paper!
The class is very easy. It is very helpful because she gives homework like to find scholarships that will fit to you. I learned a lot in this class.
Dr. Saul was a good professor in NSS 301. Her class was very helpful for me. She also recommended you apply for scholarship. In her class, I listened to her to applied for Lsamp scholarship. Thus, i got $ 300 dollars from Lsamp. Thank you, Dr.Saul. I recommend you guy take NSS 310 with her
She is an outstanding professor and mentor. She will go out of her way to help you and definitely give you constructive advice in your academic and career goals. Because of her I got accepted into University of Michigan's masters program. THANKS!!!
She's nice & very clear on what she wants. Remember to read everything she is assigned, then you'll be find.
Very nice Professor. Do not be late to her class and make sure to turn your assignments in on time. She is an extremely punctual person. I highly recommend her.
Really easy class. Just do the occasional 5 minute assignment and get to class on time and it's a gauranteed A. Prepare to be bored though.
Rude professor! She lost some students midterms so going in2 the final you don't know your grade, except for the pointless pop quizzes. Gave us 5 points for showing up 1 day. If you are late, she'll stop class & single you & others out! I went to her in office hours & she ignored me standing there while on her phone for 20 minutes, until I left
Highly recommend.Quizzes are NOT pop.She lets u kno in advance & the quizzes help u keep up w/ reading. Lecture very clear. She is helpful 2 studnts but dont be late
DO NOT BE LATE. SHE'LL INTERRUPT CLASS 2 ASK WHY UR LATE OR LEAVING EARLY. SHE REALLY GETS BOTHERED IF U GO 2 THE RESTROOM DURING CLASS, EVEN LOCKS THE DOOR. SHE ASKS 4 A LOT IN THE PAPERS BUT OFFERS A LOT OF HELP & IS ALWAYS WILLING 2 GO OVER MATERIAL IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND. DOESN'T RETURN PAPERS UNTIL DAY OF FINAL SO U DON'T KNOW YOUR GRADE GOING IN2 THE FINAL. MULTIPLE CHOICE EXAMS WHICH SHE GIVES EXACT PAGE #S IN BOOK 2 STUDY.
I did excellent in this class but I think she is the rudest person in the world. She hasn't got a clue, even if it hit her clear across the face. Just another example of someone who needs to assert themselve in order to feel benevolent. I DO NOT recommend her if you want a compassionate professor
She is always prepared, organized, enthusiastic, knowledgeable.Gets students to talk about their experiences.Go to office for her to help with term paper.Reviews book for exams.Has generous 5 minute grace period for late students but after that is strict.
If you're not good at making class on time, avoid this professor. She's a a decent instructor but she makes people feel stupid at times because her tests are genuinely difficult for non-anthro majors. Regardless, do the labs, put effort into the paper, read the pages she tells you to for the exams and youll do fine.
Fairly easy class, yet the professor is rude. She does not answer any questions without a condescending attitude. She speaks to her students as if we are children. She never takes a clear stand on the race issue which is why i took this class to begin with (theme). I also found some of the subjects and fotos shown to be quite offensive. There is ne

Dr. Saul is one of the knowledgeable professors in CSULA. She really knows and loves her subject. I had a very enjoyable learning experience with her--learned a lot from her!! She is always there for you-- she is the one who wants you to succeed in the future. I recommend her class!

She is very helpful, student friendly and fair grader. Even I got a D- in mid, I got a B as a final grade.
DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASS WITH THAT PROF, SHE IS VERY RUDE, MEAN, AND ****, TRUST ME!
She is so motherly, I like her alot. I got an A- out of her class, At first it was alot of reading but we complained and she let up towards the end of the course. If she likes you it's all good but if she doesn't then you better just know that a C or worse it what you will get. be nice to her and she will be to you class is okay, and shes funny .
Dr. Saul was very engaging, funny and fair. I enjoyed her class, and the readings she assigned. I recommend this class for any medical person and also any history buff!
Her class was a very unpleasant experience. Some students kissed up to her to get an extention on the term project and she gave them an extra week without penality but did not tell the rest of the class. She humilates students in front of the class for no reason. She is biased, unethical and unfair!!!
We gave her a standing ovation. Never saw that done in any other classes. She's really good.
I thought this would be a wast of time for my ge coursebut it was a great class.Teacher is very lively and nice.Good movies.Learning was fun.Highly recommend
i really enjoyed this class, she is very funny, nice and most of all very knowledgeable. The class is hard but she gives you all the tools to pass the class. I really recomend her class.
Professor Saul is very easy going and friendly. She is very informative in her field. Professor Saul will give you the extra help you if you need it. Beside teaching, she has a lot of advices to give on the side. She is a woman who struggled through a lot of obstacles before she reaches her place there at CSULA.
I'm not very fond of Professor Saul. She treats the class as if we were a bunch of idiots. Very unorganized in her lectures. Locks out students for showing up late and lets you back in but counts you as being absent. Students are paying to come to her classes. There is no need for her to do that. Worst professor at CSULA from my experience!
I had professor saul for anth 361 and anth 385 in the GE themes. She is quite knowledgeable and is apt in disseminating the info to a large class. She has a great sense of humor andf always conducted herself professionally.
this lady is such a sweetheart, she is a "soccer mom", she really cares about her students and their grades. 2 test and they're multiple choice (easy) only one big essay at the end but grades easy just say hi to her a few times.
I must admit, I really hated the concept of old folk and all that jazz. However, Ms. Saul made the class bearable and to some extent, "fun." She is strict, but just do what she says and you are ok. I have found a new appreciation for them old folk ;o
Even though this class is somewhat difficult, Professor Saul gives students a fair opportunity for an A or a B & that is ALL that a student can ask for - A FAIR OPPORTUNITY! 1 midterm, a final, a paper + opportunities for extra credit points - The extra credit pts really help. Professor Saul is helpful, too. Highly recommend her for ANTH 335!
I didn't expect much from a GE course but Saul teaches it really good.Interesting. Lectures are clear. Thought provoking. Covers lots of different cultures.Ask for help if you struggle
You'll learn how to use Excel and do fun things with PTC papers and fingerprinting. It's a 4 hour class but Dr. Saul is good teacher and breaks it up with interesting activities
Notes are posted on WebCT. Mid term is hard, but the Final is very easy. Tough on paper's grammar/ format and wordings.
AVOID! she is Mean spirited woman....No chances to improve grade!....I feel she was very bitter about something!! two thumbs down, AVOID, AVOID!!
Very dedicated, hard-working, knowledgable, student friendly, well prepared and very fair. She disciplines the class to provide a great learning environment. Loves her previous field work experience. That's fascinating!
She was not organized at all her powerpoint is all over the place she jumps around constantly and she gets real defensive when students ask her questions I witnessed enough to know not to ask her any questions...there is more but they only give you 350 characters...
this teacher was very biased, she treated her students like they were in junior high and unless you kiss her ass she is not very helpful or respectful. she locks people out of class if they are late and takes it personal. her lectures are somewhat entertaining but simply lectures and does not engage with the class, very unorganized
A fun class. Teacher is funny with really good PowerPoint. Will spend time with you if you need it.
realy good clsas. Professor is clear and you can ask questions. Lots of fossils to learn. Funny big foot movie
She's so rude! u can't ask questions & she's extremely difficult. It's a very challenging class the way she teaches it but it's nothing a dedicated student can't handle; however, don't expect any help from her if ur having trouble on anything. Makes lots of mistakes on grading and doesn't work well under stress. I don't recommend her.
HORRIBLE TEACHER!! DON'T TAKE HER!!She is so rude, makes you feel uncomfortable to ask for help, and treats everyone like there still in high school. Her lecture is un organized and confusing at times.Do not recommend her!
The material was interesting Saul was okay. She is disorganized, extremely strict about promptness, and has a horrible Chicago accent other than that she is cool. If you can arrive on time, stand the accent, and take decent notes you will do fine like me (got an "A"), otherwise find another professor.
she is such verry strict woman. make big problem on a little thing. class is ok, but i hate the way she treat student. if u go later than 15 minutes, you better stay at home, becoz she wont ope the door again. we pay for the class, we can go late or on time ourselves, there's nothing her business. AND well, read all the thing she want for the test.
She is a very nice lady, she alway willing to answer our questions. It is a interesting class, never a pop quiz, I don't know why someone said that... So, come to the class on time, take good notes, do the readings, then you will be fine!!
Class is mandatory. You need the notes for the tests. The lectures felt long though, depending if you meet once a week or not. She's a friendly teacher, not too hard on grading. 1 midterm, 1 paper, 1 final(not cumulative).
Her class is easy but there is work as with all 400 level classes. A midterm, a paper, and then a final. She is a wonderful professor, if you have any questions, she's very open. Read ahead of the lecture and the lecture itself will make sense. Also, you'll put yourself ahead of the rest of the class.
WORST TEACHER I EVER HAD.SHE IS BIASED, AND VERY MEAN. SHE ACTUALLY MADE ME CRY. I WENT TO EVERY CLASS,I WAS LATE ONCE FOR THE MIDTERM AND HAD A GOOD EXCUSE.SHE HAD THE NERVE TO CALL ME A LIAR AND TOOK OFF 50% OFF MY EXAM GRADE. SHE PICKS FAVORITES, KISS ENOUGH BUTT SHE JUST MIGHT PICK YOU. IT STINKS THAT SHE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO TEACHES ANTH444 =(
Very strict, has this whole thing about disrupting the class, yet she shows up late sometimes and answers her phone in the middle of class. She is not understanding at all unless ur one of her fave students. she lets some slide and treats others like crap. Get on her witch side? she'l find some dumb or a lie of reason to drop your grade.
Its true, the lady is not very nice but tests are extremely easy and she encourages you to let her review your paper. I did and got a good grade on it so make sure you do the same.
Susan Saul is a teacher who still cares. She expects a lot from her students but is fair and inpartial. If you need help she is always there to guide you and the class "medical anthropology" is very interesting.
SUPER FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. SHE GOES OUT OF HER WAY TO HELP EACH STUDENT AND IS EXTREMELY FAIR. I YOU DO THE WORK... YOU GET AN "A" IN THE CLASS.
Professor Saul is a nice, wonderful teacher. She has prepared lots of useful information related to the lecture. She cares her students and will help them go through their hardship, but as a student, you have to show you have done your work. I recommend anyone who wants to learn the subject.
Very informative. Very helpful.
The lectures are very interesting and informative.
One term paper, midterm & final. The term paper was doable if you follow every bit of the instruction she gave. Must proofread because they take off points. Another grad student grades the paper. Book is a must. I read almost the whole entire book. I took a lot of notes. The exams are 75% from notes and 25% from book. This is definitely a 400 level course because every material needs to be studied. I got A on term paper and Bs on exams and I got a B in the class. Ms.Saul's class is interesting.
I feel like I'm back in HIGH SCHOOL again. She is one rude strict professor. Those who are late to her class should file a complaint. That's what I would do in a heart beat.
Tests are extremely easy. 1 midterm, 1 essay paper, 1 final. Class is an extremely boring lecture.
Plain annoying. Treats student like children. Being 26 couldnt stand attending this class. Tells students were to sit. Dresses completely unprofessional. Straight sweat pants and shirt. Lectures are horrible. Tests are easy if you can making it to class. She really wants you to volunter at elderly shelters. if u dont she makes you write an 8 page p
She's funny at times. Lectures are boring, but it's what will be on the exams. two easy papers. She closes the doors on people who are late but opens them later. One time I was feeling sick and had to step out to go to the restroom and when I went back, she asked where I went in front of the whole class. kind of not her business right?
Crystal clear guidelines. If you do the work, you will get the grade. All the people complaining about her being strict on poignancy need to grow up. Any serious college student is not constantly late to class and disruptive! She's fair, strict, and straightforward. You will receive the grade you work for. Nothing more, nothing less. Overall GREAT!
Yes she can be rude if you come late or cross her other pet peeves but she wants you to pay attention and succeed; after all we are all adults here!! Lectures w/powerpoint; 1 essay, 1 midterm, 1 final, and some extra credit. Tells you what's on exams but wording's a bit tricky. Read the text & articles!! Go 2 office hrs! Fair grader & I recommend!!
She wants all of her students to do well in her class. She's very welcoming and open in regards her office hours. If you fail to understand any of the material, she's very willing to try to help you.
Great class. Sual is one of the best teachers at CSULA. I learned a lot and had fun doing it. She can be very funny. I liked doing the zoo report and handling the fossils.
A fun class. Dr. Saul brings in fossils for students to work with. There's a zoo report that's fun too. She gives a strong sense of our place in nature and how humans have evolved over time. If you really want to understand Darwin's theory of evolution, take this course.
She is a wonderful teacher! you only need to take notes on her lectures and make sure that you are in class ON TIME. your grades depend on one research paper, the midterm, and final. she offers extra credit at least 3 times to give an extra boost to your grade. she is very funny so she always keeps the class laughing and interested in topic! :)
Very easy!! I got a B on the midterm and final with 30 min of studying! Just make sure to be on time to class! Does not like it when students walk in and out, so use the restroom before the class. The week before the final/midterm she tells you what pages on the book the tests will be on so you dont necessarily need to read the entire book.
Before this class, I had no idea about world water crises and how diseases are not just public health issues but also development issues. It really got me interested in public health. She is one of the most helpful teachers at CalStateLA. She worked with me on my paper. I'll be taking her medical anthropology next.
Saul is a great professor. My only complaint is that she can be a teensy bit unorganized, and a little bit strict. But I think this is necessary in a class of 155. The "group" project could have easily been solo, but it's only 3 pages. Tests were pretty easy, just do the reading and take good lecture notes.
AWESOME class, very interesting and such an enthusiastic teacher! She definitely knows her stuff and is willing to help you if you need it. I'd recommend her in a heartbeat!
terrible lecture skills. completely unorganized yet extremely nitpicky. so impossible to stay awake during this class. she has you sign an contract at the beginning of the term which makes no mention of attendance and then gets completely strict about attendance even though she technically can't do anything about it besides deny EC opportunities
This class is pretty easy. Just do all the HW assignments, labs, and attend class and you will pass. I got a D on the midterm, and a C on the final, but still manage to get a B, just 2% off from a A.
She is very nice and funny. Everything is lecture, and her lectures can be quite fun and interesting. There is one midterm, one research paper, and one final. 100 points each. The research paper topics were easy too, for example: about different hairstyles and clothing based on culture. I recommend this teacher!
She is a very interactive teacher and her lectures are pretty clear and helpful she can be a bit much especially when students interrupt or are late. She has a strict late policy and wont let you in but overall the material is easy. The only thing is that the books are not as helpful and can actually be a bit confusing
Her class was dreadful at times. She goes off on tangents a lot. Keeps you in as long as she can
Professor Saul goes of on tangents, and keeps you in class as late as she can. She can be rude and sarcastic at times when you ask her questions. BE aware, if you forget to put the last four digits of your CIN next to your name she will not give you credit for that day. Saul treats her students like children.
She can be very rude at times. She tries really hard to be cool, by showing off her middle finger to class on a daily basis. The anthro majors are her favorite students so ahead and take her if you are one of them. Tests are not too bad if you study, she tells you everything that is going to be on it, but being in class is a pain.
Aside from being extremely strict on attendance and promptness, Susan is a great professor. She really knows her stuff and her tests and reports are very reasonable. She is funny and her class is very interesting.
She was a bit unorganized. Strict on being to class on time but all teachers should do the same. Tests were fairly straight forward. Be extremely wary if you have to write a paper. She told some people one thing and then they changed their and it still wasn't right. My grade on my paper totally messed up my overall grade. Be careful.
She hates when you talk in class, so keep quiet. She likes when you participate and brings in a certain knowledge. Do not use your phones. Be careful about her papers, she wants it detailed. She fluctuates on how many sources she wants, so be prepared. You don't need to read ahead, she will give you the pages to read a week before the test.
You have to pay attention to every lecture because it could be on the tests - trick questions included. Doesn't know what she wants on a paper. Funny at times but mostly boring. Most of the time she only knows what she's supposed to teach and can't give further insight/explanations.
Shes great go to her office hours and will help you out shes pretty easy but she does give lots of assigments
Very fun and informative class. I didn't buy a single required book and was able to get a B by taking good notes. She can be a bit disorganized, but she is an amazing professor. Show up on time or she'll give you a hard time!
You have to be in class in time, she is a really good professor, quite funny. If you do all of the required work and turn it in on time you can pass the class. College is not supposed to be super easy, you have to put in the work.
Saul was great and very helpful. she was funny but the class was kind of boring. exams were fair, paper was okay, be on time, take good notes because she does not post them to moodle, do the work and you will be fine. recommend her
She doesnt know how to teach. Her slide shows are completely disorganized. She is knows her stuff but doesnt know how to teach it. Read the book and learn it yourself. The zoo report was stupid i got a bad grade on it because i used "is" instead or "are" ONCE! Boring class hard to get through but east to pass
A great professor and mentor. Successfully makes an introductory course on the quarter system comprehensive and informative. Her exams are fair, and you'll do well if you study. Outside classroom hours she was open to discussion and helped me when I was applying for internships and study abroad opportunities.
This class is very simple if you attend and stay on her good side. Do not talk, be late,or offend her. You will be graded down. She is ruthless and spiteful once you get on her bad side. She treats students like middleschoolers. Has a strong need to be in complete control of the class.
A really good class. Too many CSULA students don't bother to come to class, text and use cell phones during class. Saul has high standards. Fair grader but you need to study.
pretty funny. Very knowledgeable. shehelps develop you in your work. I would like to take another class with her but I am finishing
Professor is humorous. Don't be late or she'll give you a hard time. Very high standards and you need to keep up. She can be unorganized. Strict grader on papers. In our class, finals became a TRAP, 40 questions=100 points. Only multiple choice and T/F= not good. Increased mistakes equals more points deducted. Won't take if you don't need to.
Worst teacher ever. She is extremely rude. Her students are intimidated by her. Her classroom environment is tense. Avoid at all cost.
Lots of genetics and biology. But she goes through it in a way that you can understand if you pay attention and take notes. Had us do exercises in class and use Excel. I always wanted to learn that program and now I can even graph. Gives a choice of topics for paper. Fair grader. Gives written and verbal feedback.
She likes to keep control of the class at all times. She respects students and demands the same in return. Do not be late to her class. Shes super unorganized in her lectures. One midterm, research paper, and a final. P.S. put your phone away!!!
She is not very specific on what she wants you to learn. Uses 3 different books and jumps around from one to another. No set form. really confusing class.
Professor Saul is an overall great professor. No quizzes from the textbook, but tests are reflective of lectures and textbook readings. The whole course is graded on a curve of 88% for an A, so that helps. She offered generous extra credit. She is truly passionate about her work, and it rubs off on you. (Taken as theme.)
She is pretty crazy to say the least haha she can be funnyboringinterestingangry all in one class. Dont be late, leave early, be inout or use your cell! I thought the class was easystraightforward & kinda interesting. Shes very knowledgeableexperienced but is scattered. Took me awhile to figure out what she wanted but just read everything!
She gives you 5 points to bring your term paper to her or to the writing center for proofing and editing. That was really helpful and got me to improve my writing. She encourages student discussion, comments, and questions. Her lectures are well organized but she is flexible on changing topics depending on what things students are interested in.
She is nice, but VERY PICKY!!! For starters I took this class because I was interested not because I am majoring in anthropology. She wants you to see from her perspective and that is it. She does not give a lot of feedback either and if she does its all opinionated. I would take the class again, but NOT THIS TEACHER!
The professor was extremely disorganized. She even asked a student to do her job of sending out extra credit on the moodle discussion board and to send it out as a mass email to everyone. She kept saying this is a level 400 class and how she expects high performance of us, but she doesn't even meet a student's expectation of an organized prof.
Professor Saul is passionate about health all around the world. She doesn't require a textbook because she provides online texts. She has 2 exams. 1 midterm & 1 final. She also has 1 paper. She is very picky on the paper. Grammar & everything else is important or else she think you suck so bad at writing. She gets annoyed easily.
She is sweet and passionate about what she teaches; however, she is not the most organized professor. She'll go from talking about one topic and then jump to something else that has very little to do with the previous topic. Organized notes are essential! I survived off my class notes and in-depth notes she posts on Moodle. Didn't buy textbook.
A great teacher. Interesting real world useful topics.
So much of what I see in my elderly grandparents I could not understand until I took this class. In my culture we have to respect the elderly and do what they want us to do. Professor explained this as filial piety. Now I can relate better to my parents and grandparents. Go to her office hours and you can talk to her about anything
Mediocre teacher that's been teaching the same class for too long. Classes are boring and uninteresting, her power points haven't been updated since the 90's and she hasn't bothered to change the format of her class now that we are on semesters and not quarters. So disappointed, this subject interested to me and I haven't really learnt anyhing.
I have never had such a bad teacher in my entire school career! 1) she's unorganized 2) she treats here students like kindergarteners 3) she's all over the place all the time. She's rude. And honestly she just shouldn't be teaching anymore. I've never had any issues with a professor but I guess there is always a first time. Do not recommend
Prof. Saul is a tremendous resource of knowledge. Class consists mostly of lectures with slides. Take notes summarizing what you see, will be on midterm and final. More than several reading assignments. Keep up with the reading and take summarized notes for midterm and final. Prof. will remind you of what to focus on for exams. Take Prof. Saul.
If you don't come to class you probably won't pass. Also if you are more than 5 minutes late she will not let you in until 30 minutes pass. That means that you better go to the bathroom before class starts. Lectures are very long (informative) and boring. Grab some coffee because if you're like me then you are taking this class as a GE req.
Professor Saul is a caring teacher that is passionate about her teaching. She uses personal experiences throughout her lectures. Lectures are crucial for doing well in her class. Very specific about what to expect from her exams. She is accessible outside of class, especially when it comes to papers.
Look i took this class as an elective. This was supposed to be my easy class the one i did not have to worry to much. She is very much into the idea of having class discussion on the topic and forming our own ideas about it but that does not work at all. Beware of the class, if you do have to take it nag her about the readings she needs to post.
She makes you feel uncomfortable, gets in your personal space. Once physically removed my hat assuming I was cheating on a test. Grabs ppls laptops and sneaks behind students. Unorganized resembles a grade school teacher. Doesn't follow syllabus. Teaches an anthro class as biology. No study guide or idea of what we should study. I regret this class
Great lectures and explored interesting topics. She has first hand experience in subject matter and shares her knowledge. As long as you show up and pay attention you will pass. She is clear with what you need to do to get a passing grade and even offers extra credit for students struggling. I recommend her class.
This professor helped me through a difficult time in my life and was very understanding. She showed me routes to take outside and in class.. great class and funny
I really enjoyed this class. Her lectures relate to her long line of work& travel experiences-Really Interesting. Pro. Saul is very reasonable and open to discussion as long as you talk to her. She is one of the tenure prof. on campus and she knows a lot of people & is really resourceful & cares about her students. She brings snacks for the class!
don't take her class 2 midterms both worth 100 points term paper worth 100 points and final worth 100 points. rude at times and doesn't go over the test in class before you take it.
Greatest proffesor I have ever met. She is caring and goes above and beyond to make sure that she works with you. I had unfortunate events this semester and she makes sure that you get what you deserve. DO not blame her for your lack of care as she tells us what is due from day 1. I will take more classes with her.
If you do not get an A in her class it is not because she is hard but it is because we did not do our part. She is very understanding and works with you in ever level. Her tests are everything talked in lecture do not miss class !!! Great proffesor.
the exams were pretty difficult. she reviewed the material that was going to be on the exam, but it was really no help, especially due to the fact that she would go over it the class period before the exam. one midterm paper... be sure to get it checked by either herself or the writing center. she was also very rude to several students.
Professor Saul is such a great professor! Honestly one of the best professors Ive taken at CSULA. Shes so nice and understanding and genuinely wants you to do well in school. All it takes is a little effort !(: but overall super great! Would definitely take again!
He's a very chill proffesor. If you communicate hel work with you. He came In clutch for me on one of his essays, I turned it in after the deadline by a few minutes and I thought he'd be very strict on late policy. I emailed it to him and he responded immediately telling me no problem basically. Just show him your putting work and hel help u out.
She does not know how to teach nor take notes. She calls on you which is annoying and expects you to know everything. Don't recommend her at all.
Shes literally so helpful, nice, intelligent, professional! And she gives us real scenarios including her life. For a student who struggles and needs 1 on 1 shell be there for you.
Susan Saul had done her best to want to help an individual who wanted to repeat the courses at this university; the registrar refused and believed that the individual was not a good fit for that major. When susan saul found out that the individual couldn't repeat them at the university and had to go to a cc, she smiled at that person.
Great class. Great professor. She gets lots of discussion going on hot topics. Be sure to do your reading and watch the lecture videos. And study too. You can do well if you do the work. Saul is clear in her lectures and takes questions but you have to do your part
supposed to be an in person class, but she posts videos of boring lectures for you to watch and uses class time to talk about random stuff. sweet woman, funny, and caring but not the most tech savvy professor. really didn't learn much of anything, wish she actually lectured!
I took the lab portion for her and she provides lectures and wants students to engage and understand the lesson to aid with the labs. The labs themselves are understandable and easy if the material is studied. Overall, she is nice and cool teacher I recommend.
She has high standards but cares about students. Do the work required for the class and you can do well. Come to class. I learned so much that was relevant to my own life.
I really enjoyed taking this course! She is very descriptive and she knows what she is talking about. She always asks class about when the due dates should be and she also very passionate about the subject. I honestly recommend taking this course, she is a great teacher and you have 2 midterms which were multiple choice and one final.
Professor Saul was a really great Professor. She always had her little jokes and always brought little snacks for everyone to lighten up the mood. I took ANTH 2600. The class grade is just based on the labs so DO THE LABS. It's really that simple; all you have to do. Overall, she was very caring and was pretty straight forward. Would take again!
She's not very understanding. She's disrespectful and will interrupt you when you try to ask her a question or respond to a question. She yells at all of us as if we are not college students, and will treat you like a child. Her actual course is quite simple as long as you do the work and turn in. Gave a lot of my classmates a really hard time.
Easy going. Easy to talk to. Gives great feedback on your work. Gets student input on what topics they want to hear about and what the class wants for deadlines. Very collaborative. Lectures really get you to thinking about life. Highly recommend if you are motivated to attend class and do the work.
Professor Saul is caring and straightforward. The class is primarily based on labs, so staying on top of the work is key. I found unstuck study and the class materials really helpful for preparing. Overall, an engaging course worth taking.
Her lectures combine class discussion. Course material was made relevant to my life. Gets the class engaged. Highly recommend. Could have had an A if I put in more effort.
