One of the nicest and most helpful teachers I've ever had, period.
actually makes the class fun and relates content to everyday life
Very good teacher explains things thoroughly. Class consists of a lot of information, but she makes it as interesting as possible and relates it to everyday life.

She is a nice lady, but I did not care for her teaching.Rushes through material, does not give good notes, and tests cover a lot of material. You must read chapters!I recommend Klotz-he gives great notes. If you take her,buy Klotz's notes also.Tests are hard
Good instructor.Takes time to explain the material.Exams are moderately tough but gives lots of bonus questions.Good grader.Funny.
Great instructor!! She explains material thoroughly and gives great examples. She does go fast, but that is to keep up with the BSC1085 lab class. It is helpful to read the chapter before going to class. I also recommend recording the lectures.
She was a wonderful teacher! She worked with you through EVERYTHING! I took her for A&P 1 lab and A&P 2 both. She is an amazing teacher I would highly recomend her.
everthing is true.
HORRIBLE!!! Rude, makes you feel stupid if you don't understand. Very knowledgeable but that makes her come off arrogant. Makes nosies for anatomical terms such as squish and gurg. When asked to clarify will yell and get defensive.
Sue is awsome, she really knows her stuff. She always gives good examples and is very clear. She always ask if everybody understands or not.She gives you bonus questions on everything and it really does help your grade. I recommend her to anyone taking A&P. I wish she had more classes I could take.
Good teacher, but study everything, notes that she gives and chapters from the book, b/c on test you dont know what'll be on there.
Poor quality of lecture- fast, rambling, no structure, very hard to take notes. Glosses over material you need to know/will be tested on. NOT recommended- go out of your way to take Brillinger instead.
This teacher does move quickly through material, but she is very clear about what she wants students to know. Bring a recorder for the lectures - it really does help. Noises like squish and gurg are because she wants students to understand and relate to what an organ is doing. Fun class. Great teacher. Tests are easy if you know the material.
This teacher is horrible, i would say the worst ive ever had-> shes unorganized she screws everything up whether it be tests, questions, calander dates, u name it shes mest it up i spent more time correcting her than i did learning in my other classes. honestly i think shes completly worthless and shouldnt teach anymore!
Prof teaches course as if it were a 3000 or 4000 level course... ridiculously difficult. Must know around 95% of everything that is in the book. The only reason I got an A was I spent 10 hours/wk outside of class studying. Thank God I didn't take her lab section... I've heard it is even worse.
Hard class, AWESOME teacher. I have learned so much this semester. She has ways of helping you to remember things without you even realizing it. I definitely recommend her to anyone needing A&P.
Awesome teacher! She will definitely make the subject a lot more interesting and easier to comprehend. She relates everything to everyday experiences and she only expects you to know the things you will need later on. You do have to put a lot of work in, but that is just becuase there is a lot of stuff to remember.
Online, no book needed she provides great notes, quizzes are 10 question multiple choice (only uses best 4 grades), tests are a little hard, discussions are interesting, she’s pretty funny, provides extra credit. If anyone says anything bad about her it’s because they are mad that they were just that stupid/lazy to get anything but an A in her cour
I love this lady! Next to Brillinger, she is one of the best Anatomy teachers around. She gives weekly quizzes which are easy and practicals which are a combinations of practically all of the quizzes. She is an RN so she directly relates the material you are learning to real life events. This is a great class.
She is a great professor...you will learn so much. She is passionate about the subject and her classes are entertaining. Go to class, understand and study her notes and you will do fine. If you are a nursing student you will NOT regret it!
I took Shuman for A&P 1 and A&P 2 and A&P 2 Lab. She is awesome. She is my favorite teacher of all time. She will help you with anything. She is really funny, very nice. If you record her lecture's and listen to them w/book before quizzes& tests you will do great. SHe only tests you on what she has covered in class! + she gives bonus! So record her!
She is the worst teacher I have ever had. Her notes are a mess, very disorganized, not helpful at all. Her tests are super-hard; you have to take 2 exams at the same time as a final test. I would not recommend this teacher to anyone, take McGraw instead, he is the best.
Was a mistake taking her as a teacher for this class. I would not recommend her to anybody.
Speaks in different tones which makes learning a bliss. This teacher has a metaphor (analogy) for every piece of physiology she teaches which makes learning her class so fun and less hard. If you are going into the medical field take her bc she teaches you the stuff you need to know so you don't look like a fool on the job.
Mrs.Shuman is wonderful. If you like those classes where everything is powerpoint and you just repeat the information on the test then this class is not for you. Mrs. Shuman really makes you understand it. which is helpful if you are going into the medical field. she is wonderful.
Alright There are Three Types of Teachers 1. Monotone/Read out of the book/Definitions Teacher, 2. Really Funny Teacher that you don't learn anything from, and 3, Great Funny and Intelligent teacher that you will actually learn from her lectures. You came on this page to see if she was the best. Take my word for it tand take her; she is the best.
The best anatomy teacher ever!
Absolutely the best. I took her on-line General Pharmacology course and actually looked forward to discussion posts, she presented a medical scenario and you are the diagnostician. She also responds to e-mails within 24 hours. Tests are challenging but not impossible, the material has been provided in lessons and you have ample time to complete.
She is extremely easy to understand. She has outlines online for you to print out and all you do is follow along and fill in the blanks as she is talking. She has an analogy for everything which is really helpful. I definitely recommend her.
The best teacher ever!! very helpful, funny, explains everything. The class itself is very very hard you have to go to class, tape record it, study only what shes says and you WILL get an A. the best part is she will help you in any way. after leaving her class i really truly feel i learned something. and taking her for A and P 2!!!! take her !!!!
Great teacher. 3 exams 1 final. Quiz every week. Material is difficult and you really have to study to pass. Shuman is a great teacher, though and really cares about her students and the subject.
She is AWESOME! The subject isnt easy but she makes it clear for her students! She doesnt waste her students time with material they dont need to know. I would highly recom. her!
Great professor! Learn a lot to help you in the real world of medicene...not just typical textbook stuff. She is entertaining. She teaches with broad stokes and test for the fine points, so make sure you study! Don't need book, just tape record her lectures, listen to them again before the test, and make sure you UNDERSTAND the concepts!!
She is an amazing professor. She is fun, extremely knowledgable, and creates a relaxed learning atmosphere. She is by far the best professor I've had at SPC. I would reccomend her with flying colors. She even meets everyone out for appetizers and drinks after the semester is over. 5 stars for Susan!
Very helpful and will go out of her way. Her test questions are VERY tricky and no matter how much studing you do it will not help you. Her outline isnt helpful! I would not listen to the post below about taking her for lecture. I would take Brillinger on the TS campus for lecture and lab.
AWESOME! Can't say enough good things. Super smart, funny, makes the class interesting. I wish she could teach all my classes! Brings real world experience. Cares about the students and if they are learning and understanding.
Prof. Shuman is very good. She is able to provide real world examples because of her career in nursing. Highly recommend taking her. She is always helpful.
Professor Shuman is by far the BEST A & P professor. She is EXTREMELY knowledgeable, and teaches you more than your books can, for those heading into the medical field. Her tests can be challenging, but if you attend class, take notes and read the chapters, you will do fine. Her PowerPoints are great! She truly tests your knowledge in this course.
LIFE CHANGING TEACHER!!! I cant say enough good things about Mrs Shuman; very helpful, wants her students to learn and amazing teaching style. i was heartbroken when she wasnt signed up to teach Micro.
Great teacher, fun, full of facts.
Excellent professor!! Took it online, but you could still feel her personality through online communication which is RARE in online teachers. All quiz and test answers are straight from her notes, literally word-for-word. Pharmacology can be tricky, but I love the little tricks & tips she provides to help recognize all the complicated names
This teacher is horrible. 5+ chapters (150 pages plus) per week for a 1 credit hour class, no notes, no powerpoints, no discussions, no guidance of any kind. Highly not recommended and I will be following up with the associate provost. Do not take her if you value your GPA.
Sue was a great teacher. I took her class over the summer. (WHICH A&P2 WAS VERY IN DEPTH AND I DONT SUGGEST TAKING A&P IN THE SUMMER UNLESS YOU STUDY LIKE A BOOKWORM) But she cares about her students, loves teaching, makes learning fun, does use big words sometimes so make sure you record lectures for studying! definitely review any tests ya can!
A lot of material and a non-standard grading scale (i.e. anything lower the 93% is not an A). I would not recommend this professor to anyone. Fortunately, it is only 1 credit hour so even if you do not do so great but still pass it shouldn't trash your GPA.
Sue was awesome! She is very helpful and cares about her students. I highly recommend taking her class!
Sue was an awesome teacher, not easy, but awesome. You learned what you needed for the test and she was there to answer questions and lend a hand if you needed her. She didn't deal with BS so if you dont attend class don't expect help! Otherwise she is very funny and explains everything.. you get what you put in!
Mrs. Shuman was by far the best teacher I have had in my college career. She truly cares about you and wants you to succeed. It is not an easy class though you have to study and show up for class to get a good grade. She is very open to help you though and has a great personality. I wish she taught all of my science classes ;)
Shuman is an AMAZING professor. She is genuine and upfront. Her outlines are great guides for the test, but you MUST put in the effort to get an A as it is a hard class by nature. She uses real life examples to put the material into perspective. ALWAYS DO YOUR OWN PART. NEVER RELY ON A TEACHER TO MAKE IT EASY. With that,I HIGHLY recommend her.
Test Questions are not always clear. One test she had all the answer selections mixed up. Really!! Emails take a couple of days for an response. Also, does not follow usual averages A-93, B-85, C-78. Notes are very good, as well as math calculations. Good thing this is only one credit.
If you are a visual learner take sue. She explains it in a way you can understand. You won'tpass this class if you don't study
Shes hilarious, email prompt, gives ways to memorize stuff. 5 tests, 1 cumulative final and 1 dropped. Weekly quizzes to boost your grade and force you to study. 2 extra credit oppt's. She gives ppt's/outlines. She gives real life scenarios and skips the bs topics. There is no easy AP teacher but shes the one everyone should take.
It doesn't get any better than Sue Shuman. Professor is fantastic. Course is extremely fair. If you come prepared and study what she tells you to study, you will make an A -- and learn a lot. Not an easy course, but very fair. Know the information on your weekly handout, and you will get an A.
I just took Sue for an Anatomy and Physiology test. At first she comes off a bit intimidating. However, you can tell she really cares about her class. The class is not easy. However, neither is the medical field. You will be saving people's lives. You need to know this stuff. Sue makes sure you do by giving weekly quizzes. Drops lowest 4. Great!
So sad that I took her class. She is not helpful, does not want to give you chances to succeed in her class. I ruin my GPA because of her grading style. Beg her to let me to retake some of her assignments for raising my GPA. She refused with no regrets. So sorry that I ever took her class.
Best science Professor I have had yet. She is very funny and makes class fun and interesting. She explains concepts extremely well and really gets the big picture across. Very clear about what will be on tests and quizzes, and quiz's every week to keep you studying. She offers extra credit and bonus ?s on every test and quiz. She obviously cares!!!
Shuman has been my favorite college professor since I started 7 years ago. If you want to become anything in the medical field, please take her. Sue is by far the most memorable and profound professor in my life. Yes, you do have to study and attend class, but trust me it is well worth it!!! Tell her SamanthaStephanie wrote this comment.
Shuman is by far the best professor I have ever had in college. She is funny, extremely smart, and is knowledgeable in all medical fields. She is not an easy teacher (meaning her exams are hard) but she will make you learn and you will enjoy it if it is your passion. By far the most inspiring professor and would take her for every course.
I took her in the summer and still passed her class the first time. It's hard in 8 weeks so it wasn't easy. But she has been one of the most helpful teacher I have ever had. She will help you no matter what. Also, one of the most mellow and friendliest teacher I've met.
Good prof., but speak very fast (not good for the second language person)! need to record her lectures. Study and study if want to pass the class. You'll earn the knowledge of med. file, but not easy to get easy grade. Quiz every Mon. if finish the chapter, true or false; 4 exams with the final from the first to the end. U'll proud if get B or A !
Professor Sue is the Best of the Best. She could teach this course with her eyes closed, hands tied, and no material! She has a special gift not all professors have. Extreamly funny, down to earth, and as long as your giving 100% she will do her best to help you. Gives a TON of extra credit opportunities that can substitute for a low quiz grade.
If you take Shuman, here are some helpful hints: 1. What she says is on the test. So record her lecture (I personally just typed it out). 2. In lab, the powerpoints located in "Various files" will save your life. The models can be deceiving, so pictures + labels keep it clear and lastly 3. You will study, you will stress but it will be worth it.
Took a and p in summer which I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy but Susan made it worth while . I learned soo much and she could teach this class blindfolded with nothing bUT her own body. She really does want you to succeed and will help anyway she can. VERY HANDS ON. Whats on supplement is what she test on so if you study you will pass.
Sue is the greatest thing that has happened to me this semester. She cares so much about her students on a professional level and as a human being. She gives nothing but chances to help especially 1 on 1. She makes everything so clear and easy and make sure you do the extra credit! She is the best!
She is tough, but she teaches you a lot of important information. She is always willing to help. I learned a lot in this class.
Sue is the best Professor I've had so far at SPC. Her being a nurse educator, she gives stories and relates lectures to real life situations. Her lectures were interesting & fun! She's a great inspiration; Really helpful, friendly, and understanding. Her Tests were somewhat tough for the way she words them, but if you study well, you'll get an A.
I have taken Sue for 4 classes now I and I would take her for 4 more! She is and has been in the medical field "since God was young" as she likes to say! You HAVE to record her lectures and re listen to them because she does talk very fast. She does drop some quizzes and gives extra credit on every quiz and test!
Fantastic instructor - she WANTS you to do well. She also encourages students to understand the principles not just memorize. She is very fair. Her "contracts" tell you exactly what is expected to k now for the quizzes & tests. This is a tough class but she makes it fun. She grades assignments very quickly.
Sue is by far the best professor I have ever taken. She is genuine, true to the core, and only wants the best for her students. A&P material can be a tough topic but if you go to class, actually engage with her lectures, and take the time to understand what you're learning then you will do just fine. Take her, you won't regret it!
Amazing professor! She wants you to do well. Attendance is important. The way she lectures is not boring at all, she doesn't read from powerpoints she keeps you interested and explains things in a way all can understand. She puts a story behind the info to help you remember. You must study and do homework to do well, pay attention to detail.
This was by far the hardest class I've taken. Her tests were IMPOSSIBLE even if you study a ton. She really made it harder than it actually was and she included a lot of difficult to understand info that is mainly needed for people going into nursing.. unlike myself.
One of the worst professors i have ever had. No matter how much you study, the tests do not match the content she teaches. Gives quizzes almost every other day without proper preparation and teaching. She will quiz you on material she did not teach. She gets lost in her teaching and skip many sections of the outline then quiz you on it.
Sue is an amazing professor! She definitely makes you work for your grade, but you come out so much smarter in the end! Her lectures are EVERYTHING! My advice is to record lecture, go home and listen and take notes, this will get you an A. When she says she owns your soul, she means it!! The tests are hard, but if you study you'll pass. Take Sue!!
Sue is an amazing professor! She expects you to do your part and come to class prepared, which if you are going for healthcare you will have to do. She gives a ton of extra credit opportunities DO THEM! You will work for your grade but you will learn so much. She really cares about you and your education. I am well prepared for future classes now.
Sue is amazing! Yes, there are quizzes every week, but if you even study youll do fine. She gives a buncch of extra credit for every quiz, homework, and test. As long as you do well with homework and tests youll pass. Shes also very funny and helpful.
Sue Shuman should be the teaching standard. She clearly loves teaching, knows her stuff, and is passionate about the subject. She doesn't let you get away with just showing up to class. You have to come willing and ready to learn. I wish there was an A&P 3 and she taught it.
Sue is one of a kind! She puts her heart into the class and gives multiple opportunities to increase your grade as long as you are willing to work for it. My grade was lack of effort on my part. She is so very thorough and detailed. If you want to excel in the medical field, take ker for all of your anatomy classes! She has a great personality too!
She is a really intellectual professor and good at what she does and is very nice! However, her teaching style is not something I would recommend to someone or retake. Her lecture is a bit all over the place and it seems that her quizzes and tests are a bit different than what she teaches in class. I ended up retaking it online and getting an A ..
If youre looking for an easy grade, move along. If youre seeking a nursing degree, TAKE HER CLASS! Shes the best teacher Ive ever had. Shes tough, but you will learn more from her than any other class available. She will move mountains to help you as long as youre motivated. Do it now, youll thank yourself later.
Dr Suman is a real gem. As her class may be difficult at times, Sue really does her best to make everything clear and concise. Her lectures can feel a bit of a drag and difficult to keep up at times. Yet Sue does a great job making sure everyone is on the same page and is understanding fully. I can go on and on about her, she is def a must take!
As an RN and prof, cant be that hard to have a scanner so the work being handed in can get back to the students in a timely manner, without a "mandatory" presence at her "lecture" class that is a hybridface-to-face. I chose more zoom, she wasn't happy. Go back over your quizzestests once she is done grading them, you might find a couple pts.
Anatomy and Physiology II Lab is an extremely tough course and I am so grateful that I took this Sue Shumann. It was not required but I took her class in the Fall of 2020 and every week I drove an hour to attend. I would do it over again. She is very detailed, passionate and cares about her students. She loves to teach and she wants you to learn.
Professor Shuman was a great teacher, Available outside of class, responds quickly, will provide excellent feedback, and has no problem helping you understand things you may have missed. Discussion/ 2 peer reply; Quizzes (book use no outside help) pretty straightforward. I would take her class again.
Sue is so special! <3 She's tough but she has the best intentions. If you care, she will care. A&P is a hard class, but she's always there for you - all you need to do is talk to her. She knows medicine inside and out and she gives great real-life examples. She doesn't expect you to be perfect but you have to do your part and she will do hers.
I was very afraid to take this course because it is a lot of information to learn, but honestly this was a great class. Shuman made the lectures actually interesting and I learned a lot from it. She does give a lot of extra credit and I do recommend completing it all. She knows what she is talking about and always wants to help you. 10/10 class
She is wonderful! She periodically makes sure that everyone understands what she is talking about and questions are always welcome. She does review sessions on her own time and responds to emails quickly. She does not give busy work for no reason - if she tells you that you need to know it, you need to. And she has a very fun personality!
Shuman is the BEST professor to have for A&P! She is very nice, very easy to talk to, and is just a great person in general. She expects you to do your part but she will understand if you have things going on in your personal life. She gives many extra credit opportunities and even though she can be a tough grader, she's fair.
Sue Shuman is a fantastic professor and a fantastic person! She is very clear about due dates and expectations. She tells you what to study for tests and quizzes, so there are no unpleasant surprises. She is patient and understanding when things go wrong, and she makes lectures fun with her sassy comments and personal stories :)
Sue is one of the sweetest, most caring, and genuine people ever. However as a professor, she's tough on you. There are a lot of things to memorize and she expects you to learn mostly on your own. She's a tough grader and will take points off for little things on practicals. She's willing to accommodate but communication is a HUGE thing with her!
Professor Shuman is an amazing professor - she expects you to study and do the work however she cares and is always willing to help her students. There is plenty of opportunities in this course to do well if you put the time and effort in. All around a great person. I wish she was teaching A&P 2 over the summer.
I'm so happy I took Professor Shuman for A&P1. She REALLY knows her stuff! Professor Shuman provides ample opportunities for extra credit. She is an amazing professor, and an amazing human being. I am so sad I cannot take her for A&P2, as my schedule will not allow. I hopefully can take another class she teaches! Take her class if you can!
Professor Shuman was fantastic! Even while working full time I found this course very do-able. Lectures were entertaining, and well explained. Ample opportunity for extra credit. You can tell she cares about her students, their success and loves what she teaches. Would absolutely take a course with her again.
Sue was an amazing prof! She knows this class is hard and she makes sure she makes it as easy as possible for students. Extra credit is offered for each test and weekly quiz(zes). Make sure to partcipate and do all your work, and she will respect you. She does zoom study reviews where you can ask her quesions before each exam. Great lectures!
Professor Shuman's an amazing professor. She cares about every student and will work with them to make sure they are doing their best. But if you don't put in the work, you will never pass. Very difficult topic, lots of spelling and memorization. Gives lots of extra credit, and there are zero surprises on her tests. Study guides for tests.
Professor Shuman is hands down, the greatest professor I've had. She knows A&P is not an easy subject so she's willing to help at every avenue. I know she might seem intimidating but she's actually very approachable and funny. She also works as a nurse, so if you're pre-nursing I doubly recommend her!
Professor Shuman absolutely loves her students and wants them to succeed. If you put in the work, there is no reason not to do well. She offers study sessions on her own time, points out information you need to know on a test and the amount of extra credit available can be grade changing. She has so many life stories to share. Will take her again!
Sue was fantastic. A&P 2 is a hard class, but Sue makes it more enjoyable. She is definitely the best prof. I've ever had. She wants you to succeed, but you HAVE to put forth the effort, it is not an easy class. If you show up, do the homework, and follow her study guides, you will pass.
Professor Shuman is a fantastic teacher who genuinely cares about her students. The class is challenging, but with her support and plenty of extra credit opportunities, you can definitely succeed. unstuck ai was a great study tool alongside the textbook and lectures.
Professor Shuman honestly is a wonderful professor! I took her for both A&P lecture and lab. She's super fun and sweet. However, her class is work heavy. Between Quizzes, Practicals, Lab HW, Lecture HW, etc. It can get overwhelming. I found myself feeling like I was always behind. However, I think I would take her class again! She has open labs too!
Come prepared, ready to learn. She actually makes you understand and know your stuff. You must be willing to study for this class and put in time. Mrs. Shuman has a can do attitude, she's funny, goofy, but she's expects the world from you. The tests can be stressful if you're not fully prepared (Difficulty level: Hard). This course is a lot.
Ms. Shuman is a very fun, cool teacher. Just make sure to come in prepared and expect to put in a lot of effort. Lecture tests are EXTREMELY hard despite how much I study. She is a good teacher and if you do take her, try not to take a load of other classes with this. I personally wouldn't take her again for lecture but I would take her for lab
Shuman is smart, but her class is very hard. She doesn't use PowerPoints while lecturing and talks the whole time, which makes it tough to follow. Weekly quizzes and Pearson homework help, and there's extra credit, but it doesn't make up for how hard her tests are. The study guides don't match the tests, questions are tricky. Be ready to work hard.
if you are taking her to get into a program which I'm sure you are please DONT! She is very caring and honestly you will learn the information but its very hard to get a good grade in her class without dedicating your life to her class. She makes you take two exams one being the final the same day which is very hard to study for both.
Dr. Shuman is one of the greatest professors I have ever had. The lab textbook is mandatory, but in lecture, the textbook does not need to be purchased unless a student wants to do extra credit. All tests have extra credit questions! She really cares about her students and will host review zooms and labs during the weekend before tests.
I had this professor in the past and she discriminated against me for being a veteran. It was an extremely uncomfortable environment and I had to report her to get the class dropped. She was openly anti military and anti right leaning, she made that clear on day one. Do not take if you are a veteran.
While attendance is required, she is very understanding when students face personal challenges or illness. She also offers a LOT of extra credit opportunities and study guides. Although her teaching style doesn't match my learning style, I was still able to succeed, which is especially impressive since I took the course during the summer.
Class is manageable, but requires effort. To succeed, take notes during lecture and use her guided notes for PowerPoints- use these to study. Lab is much easier than lecture. Both lecture and lab are recorded, allowing you to revisit any information missed if absent. Took her for A&P 1 over the summer and A&P 2 this fall, maintaining an A.
If you're headed into any healthcare career I highly recommend taking Prof Shuman. She truly cares and prepares you for any type of healthcare program. I worked hard but learned so much valuable information that is needed for the future. Can't thank her enough for how much effort she puts into teaching us. Truly a good person and a great teacher.
